INTRODUCTION
A school magazine is an annual publication of a school and the
main use of it usually is to advertise the school to parents and
executives, to gloat about their talents within the school. But
on the other hand it’s a great way for students to get involved
in their school community.

It is a free magazine which is usually published once a year.
Students and teachers can also write to it, to give their own
advise or opinions. It usually contains
news, events, competitions, activities, etc.
The masthead is the
title of the magazine as it
appears across the front
cover of each issue.
Most magazines use the
same masthead on each
issue however
depending on the
magazine they might
change the colour, to fit
the colour scheme
chosen.
The slogan is a short catchy
description and is usually at
the top or bottom of the page.
They tend not to be as eye
catching as the cover lines
because normally they are on
ever issue of the magazine.

The main image of this magazine
is of a young girl with down
syndrome, they used her on
purpose to show that they have a
variety of different students from
different backgrounds. Keeping to
the rule of thirds, the girl is centred
in the middle and her eye line is in
the top middle section.
She has a uniform on which
matches the colour scheme and as
you can see she has the top
buttons undone to show that she is
in a relaxed and comfortable
environment. the main cover
This is

line, using a contrasting
colour helps makes the
text stand out a lot
more, drawing the readers
eye to it and making it one
of the first things they read
to make them more
intrigued.
THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A SCHOOL
MAGAZINE AND A MUSIC MAGAZINE
There are many differences between a music magazine and a school magazine
although it may not be obvious.

Firstly both magazines have completely different aims, while music magazines
aim to sell their product, school magazines provide the opportunity to the
students for self-expression in written form and also to act as a means of
unifying the school.
Because school magazines are usually free to the public there is no need for them
to have a bar code unlike music magazines, which stores all the data about
the magazine e.g. price, date etc.
They both have completely different audiences, therefore there attitudes are
different. School magazines are quite formal where as music magazines are
informal and are sold for entertainment uses.
