This is the first college
magazine I will be
analysing called The
reflection.

3. Masthead
The masthead of this magazine says “The reflection”, as
it is a school magazine it could be about reflecting on
school life or because the magazine also looks
fashionable it could be about a fashion show that reflects
on how school students dress. The colour of the master
head is also blue this could be for a number of reasons,
it could be that it is similar to the dress one of the girls is
wearing, it could be because it stands out on the
background or it could also be that it may be a
fashionable and popular colour to their age group.

4. Main image
In the front cover of this
magazine the main image
is of two female students
dressed as if they was
going to a party. The
photograph is a medium
shot as it roughly shows
both girls waists and head.
The colour of the dresses
they are wearing could
have been either a random
selection of what they was
wearing on the day or
chosen by the
photographer at both
colours stand out and
compliment each other.

5. Date line
The date line of this
magazine is monthly
because it has a month
and year that it was
published. The date line
was written in a small
font in the top corner
under the master head,
it written in white either
because it is a standard
thing magazine
publishers have to do or
because the white
writing stands out on
the black background.

6. Logo
The logo of this magazine that says
“High quality learning for all” has a great
meaning to the magazine because the
magazine is about school and the logo is
being used to advertise the
achievements in the academic part of
learning. The logo is also written in fancy
writing were as the other parts of writing
surrounding the logo is written in plane
bold fonts, I think this is so when people
look at the magazine it stands out and
catches the publics eye.

This is the second college
magazine I will be
analysing called
“Spotlight”

8. Main head
The main head of the magazine is called “spotlight” this
may mean that the school who has made this is holding a
talent show or work shop. The lettering is in white and
which helps it stand out on the purple background, the
lettering of the main head is also in a form of scruffy text
which gives the main head and the magazine an artistic
look (theme) the way the text is written can also be used
to catch the eyes of the readers that it may interest in this
case it looks like this magazine is aimed at 16+ year olds.

9. Selling line
The selling line is placed in a small font under the main head
this college has chosen to use their selling line to sell what the
school can provide academically, this selling line says ”Stoke
newington school: media arts & science college.” This means
that college is called Stoke newington school and provides
media, arts and science as subjects.

10. Main Image
The main image in this college
magazine seems to be a painting
or art work piece from one of the
students, I think the buildings
and road could represent the
surroundings of were the college
is based or were the person lives
and the fruit can either be a
symbol of how healthy or
unhealthy they are however
connecting this art work to the
main head could bring about the
meaning that once you are in the
spot light you stand out against
your environment, lifestyle and
that your talents become
noticed.

11. Date line
The date line is based under the main header, it is in
a small font written in white because the background
is purple the date line of this college magazine
indicates that this magazine is a seasonal edition as
it is the first edition for autumn in 2008
