2. Gender
I have definitely progressed in using certain
features across the magazine to appeal to a
certain gender. These are things on the pop
magazine such as colour scheme, language
and images.
I have progressed in making my magazine
appeal to a specific gender because I have
researched into what appeals to each gender
and what my key demographic would enjoy
reading and what colours and language they
look for.
Additionally, I have progressed through
looking at the results from the first
questionnaire which was given to my target
audience and by looking at the results, I can
understand more of what appeals to my
target audience which I have considered and
added into my magazine.
Female clothing, heart- represents
love, romance, feminine, shades of
pinks and purples.
3. Age
I have been able to develop the magazine to
appeal to my target age group. This was
apparent after doing research and after
analysing the results from the
questionnaires. By looking at what my
target audience are interested in, it makes it
easier to appeal to your key demographic by
seeing their interests and hobbies.
The language used by the age group is also
important and within the magazine it is
simple to appeal to the age group by
mirroring their language.
The two magazines show how I have
developed an understanding for appealing
to the target age group because I have
changed the language and overall tone of
the magazine to suit them. Whereas on the
school magazine, this is supposed to be
flexible to all age groups and this is not
shown across the magazine.
Colloquial- reflects
informal speech
Shows how I have
tried to
incorporate
interests for a
range of age
groups.
4. The layout of the magazine is something that I have learnt
through progressing further into this course. The layout is very
important for selling purposes and the way the eye sees the
magazine cover is important because certain audiences like to
see the page in a specific way. The target audience of the school
magazine was varied from child to parent. Whereas the pop
magazine is age group specific and therefore this was easier to
determine how to lay it out to appeal to this age group.
This shows how the
route of the eye of
each magazine is
different and the
pop magazine is
more effective
because of the left
third
The left third is very important for selling
purposes because of the way magazines are
displayed on shelves. The left third is
usually the area of the magazine that is
showing and therefore the target audience
need to see that this magazine is full of
interesting articles that appeals to them.
The school magazine does not have this
layout because this is something I have
learnt during the course.
