Introduction to ArtificiaI Intelligence in Higher Education
Evaluation question four
1. EVALUATION QUESTION FOUR
How did you use media technologies
in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
2. I have used many various technologies from the
process of constructing my main and ancillary
tasks. Starting with the blog, this allows people
to publish posts on their own personal profile, a
blog is hugely important regarding my media
studies work as it contains my whole portfolio
and every piece of work I completed would be
uploaded in chronological order publicly for
anyone to see.
3. The Internet
The internet was one of my key sources of
information, I used it to expand my knowledge on
short films as well as getting ideas for both my main
and ancillary tasks.
The internet is such a broad way of trying to find
the information you need, this is why I started off
by using websites I am familiar with such as IMDB
and Warp; these website allowed me to view short
film which I would be interested in. However, I then
went on to look at website what were new to me
such as Film Inquiry.
5. SlideShare
SlideShare is based on a slide hosting service,
where users can upload files privately or publicly in
file formats such as, PowerPoint, PDF,
OpenDocument presentations, etc.
SlideShare allowed me to embed work into blog
posts, however, this was used for PowerPoints as
opposed to Word Documents.
This also helped me to share work and
presentations as well as creating posts in a more
interesting way.
6. Google Docs
Google Docs is a free, web-based word processor, run by
Google within its Google Drive service. It allows users to
create and edit documents online while collaborating
with other users.
I decided to use Google Docs as one of my sources as it
allows me to upload word document quickly and easy.
As I have used Google Docs in previous experience I
thought it would be a good idea to use it again seen as I
am comfortable with it and I knew what I was doing.
7. Adobe PhotoShop
To make the ancillary tasks we had to use
Photoshop, as I have used PhotoShop before I was
confident in using it to create our poster and article.
We thought PhotoShop would be the best software,
as the tools it included helped us achieve what we
wanted.
Using Photoshop allowed me to develop skills
further through the many different options
available. It mainly helped me to develop skills in
editing photos, which allowed me to create more
superior looking photos for the poster.
8. YouTube
I also had to use YouTube as a form of uploading videos
onto my blog, I was quite familiar with YouTube from
last year, thus I knew what I had to do when uploading a
video and embedding one onto my blog.
YouTube was also a good way to express my information
that I learnt from other bloggers on YouTube.
9. Prezi
Prezi is a presentation software and storytelling
tool for presenting ideas on a virtual canvas. This
was the first time I used Prezi and it was fairly
easy to use; I enjoyed using it and it allowed me
to use my creative skills to make effective
presentations.
10. Equipment
When filming I got to use a number of
different equipment, from lighting and
sound to various cameras such as the
GoPro. Before making our film, I didn’t
have any experience in filming or
camera work, however I believe I have
learnt a great deal about different
types of equipment and developed my
knowledge throughout.
11. Edius7
Edius 7 is a video editing software package for
computers, which run windows. This is also the
first time of using this software, so I wasn’t that
confident in using it, however it was vital that
we did to edit our film. I found Edius quite
complex and confusing at first but after getting
use to it I started to enjoy editing our footage.
