Question 2

1. I used google to conduct my secondary
research to find out the codes and conventions
of a sports drama, I also used it to look at
example websites and posters so I could create
moodboards and draw inspiration from them.
I used youtube to look directly at example trailers, the
reason I did this was because looking at a video for
myself clarified what specific conventions were used
the most, and what looked the most aesthetically
pleasing.
RESEARCH
I used weebly to upload all of my research and planning
so it was all in one location.
Weebly is very good for this as it is very simple and
easy to use, you can drag many elements in as well as
embed videos etc.
Weebly also has preset designs and this means I did not
have to waste time designing the website.

2. I used microsoft word to create a
quick questionnaire as it is easy to
use and format, I could easily print /
send the file to my target audience
which made it easier to come to
conclusions from my research.
I used microsoft powerpoint to make
pie charts from my research so that I
could come to conclusions more
easily. For example, I can see that
soundtrack and sound effects were
very important, hence why this was
one of the most prominent features
of our trailer.

3. We used powerpoint on google drive
To make our research and planning presentation.
This was the easiest platform to use as all group
members could make changes when needed and view
the file easily.
As well as this, we could share the presentation with
the teacher easily so we could present the presentation
to the class, which we later did.
We made a draft story board on power point as a
group, we decided to write all the shots out at this as
opposed to drawing so we could make changes when
we wanted to.
Using powerpoint to do this instead of drawing was
useful as we could make it quicker and write key
information easier.
We then made an indepth shot list including props and
locations on word.

4. We used our mobile phones to
take practice shots in some of our
potential locations, we the
uploaded them to weebly so we
had one location where
everything was being stored.

I used power point to make an indepth project plan.
The reason I used powerpoint as opposed to word or
publisher was because formatting on powerpoint is
much easier. This meant I could make my project plan
faster, better and clearer than I would be able to on
other programmes.

5. CONSTRUCTION
To make my poster, I chose to use photoshop. Not only it used
by professionals in the movie industry, but it is very easy to use,
it provides several forms of editing, it is very quick and easy, files
can be saved in several different formats.
It is perfect for making posters as you can ensure that
everything is formatted perfectly.

6. CONSTRUCTION
To make my website, I used Wix.com The reason for this was
because the website formats things for you already, such as the
navigation bar and allows you to do highly complex things such
as add a video in the background.
It is a lot easier and quicker than using dreamweaver in which
you would have to code all elements.
However, one limitation with using this is you are constrained by
the design you chose, there are very limited fonts and designs
and often I had to edit things on photoshop and edit them in as
an image on the website.

7. I used final cut pro x to edit my trailer, The reason I chose to use
final cut pro is because it is a very complex programme, not only
can you edit your clips in terms of effects and transitions, you
can also add a wide array of sounds and text;
Like photoshop, final cut pro is used by professionals in the
movie industry and I wanted to use the most complex
programmes to gain the most high quality and realistic product.
CONSTRUCTION

8. I used slideboom and slide share to upload
presentations I had created on power point easily,
they provided me with the ability to upload my file
onto my weebly without the file being too big.
Emaze is an online software platform in which you
can create creative powerpoints, I chose to use this
for my evaluation as it is interesting to the eye and it
is very quick and easy to use.
I used glogster as this was a website I had not used
yet and I like to experience how to use different
media platforms.
Glogster is very smart and interactive, I was able to
put all information onto one page without it being
boring.
I used screen-cast-omatic for a more interaftive
approach to do my question 3 evaluation.
I felt that I could explain things better by speaking
and presenting as opposed to typing and this
software allowed me to do this.
