What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and
why?

3. OUR PRODUCTION COMPANY
■ We decided to go for the an ACE a similar company with Columbia
productions which is an American film studio which is a member of the
Sony pictures.
■ As well as a production company, Columbia are also a company as well
as distributers from films such as Leon, Men In Black to more modern
films like White Chicks, The Shallows, Ghostbusters, The 5th wave.
■ ACE production is a company we decided to use it’s a psychological
films based. Its very unique because rather then just using our initials
we came up with something different. ACE production also sounds very
sophisticated and very easy to remember.

5. Negotiating
■ We thought going out and filming long hours and editing plus getting
frustrated at jump cuts was a harsh but when looking to distributing our film it
is an even tougher challenge.
■ For our film to succeed and be distrusted by well known productions our film
must appeal to the productions audience and meet their expectations. This is a
potential difficulty our film could face when trying to get our film distributed it
may not fit their categories due to their high demand.
■ However, even though it may not meet their expectations it could give them
ideas from our film that they may develop later on and make better which is a
good sign.

6. WAYS OF DISTRIBUTING
■ There are many ways that we could distribute our film. The main ways are from
the BBFC, Theatrical release, film festivals and DVD/blu ray.
■ As our film isn’t a documentary, we have to have a BBCF record which may be
very expensive but in order to get our film out there, we do have costs and
sacrifices we have to make in order to be a international distribution company .

7. CONTINUSATION OF WAYS OF DISTRIBUTING
■ Theoretical films may be a little pricy however, I do believe that it will be an
extremely useful way to expose our film to the audience. We aren’t really expecting
to gain a lot of profit as it is only the beginning of something big but it’s a good way
to get the audiences feedback on what they think about out film which could lead to
further progress of our film. A limitation of this strategy is that not many cinemas
may allow us to screen our film so by starting locally would be a better chance then
heading straight to the city
■ I wouldn’t say DVD and blu ray is a good way to start distributing a film that’s only
just developed and which could be developed more. Also many people now tend to
watch their shows/films on the internet on websites such as Netflix, amazon. Our
film is fully developed for it to be turned into a DVD and blu ray it would also affect
the blu ray company as they wont be earning profit due to the audience not being
satisfied with the story line.

8. WHO DO I WANT TO
DISTRIBUTE MY FILM?■ To start of with it would be ideal for channel 5 and film 4 to distribute my films because
when looking at my film they fit into these categories as they are companies that whom put
up a lot films and documentaries of any type of genre.
■ As our genre is a psychological thriller both channel 5 and film 4 have related
films/documentaries that could link in with our film. It is quiet difficult for our specific
genre because most psychological thrillers have the same sense of plot. Most of them will
be based around a mentally depresses antagonist which is really hard to make it different.
■ From that it does slightly limit the chance of being able to negotiate with media
institutions but that doesn’t mean ideas from our storyline cant be used by productions to
made even better and expand on them.
