2. PLOT SUMMARY
Leon is about 12 year old girl, Mathilda, whose dysfunctional family gets
killed by the corrupt police force. They were paying her abusive father to
stash cocaine for them but he was taking some for himself which is why
they killed him and the family. The only reason Mathilda survived is because
she was out shopping for groceries. After seeing her family dead Mathilda
runs to her neighbour for help; her neighbour is Leon, a hit man and
protagonist of the film. Leon reluctantly gives her shelter.
After finding out Leon is a hit man Mathilda begs him to teach her skills; she
wants to be able to avenge her family. Mathilda grows fond of Leon and
comes to love him; she mistakes romantic love with the love she would have
for her father. Leon sees Mathilda as his daughter later on in the film and
works to protect her from the corrupt police man who killed her family.
In a battle between Leon and the police he is able to get Mathilda away
safely. However, Leon dies and leaves Mathilda all his money; Mathilda then
tries to go back to school to get her life back on track. The last scene we see
is her planting Leon’s plant like she promised him.
