- We decided to let 120 P5 students to experience the life of the cleaners by creating a day named “Litter-Free
Day” and let them clean the toilets and the canteen during the recess time. After cleaning the canteen and the
toilet, we interviewed some of the students that participated out of the 120 pupils. Some interviewees said that
they realized how dirty the toilet and canteen is and said that they never imagined those cleaners cleaning those
disgusting things every day. One of the interviewee, Bao JianKun from 5L, one of the classes that participated, told
us that it was an interesting experience and she will never forget it. Wesley Teo, another interviewee also said that
he felt more responsible for keeping the toilet and the canteen clean as they knew that the cleanliness of the toilet
for the student is in their hands. Besides the “Litter-Free Day” , we also held a mini carnival and let the pupils look
at the table before and after the recess and allow them to compare the difference. There were a mascot created by
us and there were holes on it. Pupils are supposed to throw rubbish made of newspaper into the holes. The
objective of this game is to let pupils to play and learn that we should throw our rubbish into rubbish bins instead of
on the floor. Out carnival and the “Litter-Free Days” were both successful! The number of students impacted and
participated was around 120.
