What is Matter?
Created by Marie @ The Homeschool Daily
Matter is anything
that has mass and
volume. You are
matter. The
clothes you are
wearing are
matter. The air
you are breathing
is matter.
What is matter?
Mass is the amount of matter or
“stuff” that something is made of.
Mass is commonly measured in
kilograms or grams. You can
measure mass by using a scale or
triple beam balance.
What is mass?
What is volume?
Volume is the amount of
space an object takes up
or occupies. In the
metric system, volume is
measured in either liters
or meters.
What is the
volume of the
cube?
What formula would
you use to find the
volume of this cube?

An atom is the
smallest unit of
matter. It is
the basic
building block
for all matter in
the universe.
What is the smallest unit
of matter?
An atom is made up of even
smaller parts: electrons, protons,
and neutrons.
Atoms fit together with other
atoms to make up matter. It
takes a lot of atoms to make up
anything.
