Zotero is an open source reference management software created by researchers at George Mason University that was originally an add-on for Firefox but now has a standalone version and plugins for Word. It can be used individually or to create shared group libraries and has an active community of support. Librarians have adopted Zotero and it allows users to register an account to access their libraries across multiple machines. The presentation demonstrated Zotero's abilities like opening databases and documents, adding citations and metadata tags/notes, and generating bibliographies and reports.
