This document discusses ways to keep kids safe online when using YouTube. It notes that YouTube is a popular site for both entertainment and education where people can search for and upload various videos. However, it's important for parents to be aware of potential dangers like communicating with strangers, cyberbullying, and inappropriate content. The document provides tips for parents such as using safety features, open communication, online monitoring, and creating a family computer usage agreement.

This Keynote presentation at the 2012 Ontario Association of Social Work annual conference outlines the "digital communication power tools" for social workers and other practitioners. Speakers' notes can be toggled on or off.
Given at SIM University Faculty Learning Day (July 25 - 28, 2012)
Online social media and interactive tools are often viewed to be at odds with the classroom experience. Rather than work against the draw of these gathering places, faculty can learn to utilise them appropriately within the context of a course. This presentation provides a tour of online communication tools and demonstrates how each can be customised to promote greater student engagement and interactivity within an academic setting. Among the tools to be discussed are Facebook and Twitter, Ustream and Spreecast (videocasting), Reddit (peer voting), Forums, Delicious (social bookmarking) and music tools.

Social media has become an essential part of crisis management for your business.
How can you use it to your advantage, to take negative sentiment and turn it into something positive? How can you regain control of the narrative so you can get across your side of the story? In this talk for Cambridge Network, we gave plenty of real-life examples - from the YO! Sushi customer who changed his mind over the cost of his burger, to the fitness product who found being rude to complainants actually increased sales.
We focused on two areas:
- Using social media to avoid a crisis in the first place
- How you can use it for damage control

Alternative means of communication during a disaster a presentation on the various alternatives when all communication breaks down during a disaster and how social media is also helping.

Why non-profits should utilize social media, which tools should they use, what do they need to know to get started and what resources are available for them.
What's your status? Understanding social media (Mar. 4, 2011). Facebook, Twitter & Blogs...in today's society, social media is a widely used method of getting information out to people. During this session we will get into the nuts and bolts of what social media is and reasons why people use it in the agriculture sector.
Facebook, twitter, blogs and other social media are availbale for free to be used are tools available for marketing small bsuinesses. This presentation highlights a few uses for these tools and provides information to get started
However, YouTube.com, like many Web 2.0, sites is much more than a site allowing individuals to share video clips. It is a place for public commentary, a place where people can review the latest and greatest info products, a place where people can network and share common interests, goals, and opportunities.
This presentation was made to teenagers in Kenya after they requested for help managing cyberbullying on their personal social media channels.
It goes on to show how you can social media as a tool to your benefit.
Smart Card - October 2014
Since 2012, minors’ involvement with social networking services (SNS) has risen to 96%. It is reported that 69% of minors have received online communications from strangers. Harmful interactions that children encounter online include cyber-bullying,
coercion, pornography, drugs/alcohol, and violence. During the first two months of 2013, the OSBI Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit completed 47 investigations, served 53 search warrants, and made 16 arrests. Criminal activity
included Child Pornography, Enticement, and Obscenity Directed to Minors.
Below is a link to suggestions on how to protect your children while they are on the internet.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.

3. YouTube is a video/media sharing website on
the internet. Anyone can create an account and
put video onto this site. It is widely popular as
both an entertainment and educational forum.
People can search videos for cute animal tricks,
people tripping down stairs, or instructions for
making a paper airplane.
4.
5. 60 hours of video are uploaded every minute, or one
hour of video is uploaded to YouTube every second.
Over 4 billion videos are viewed a day
Over 3 billion hours of video are watched each month
on YouTube
500 years of YouTube video are watched every day on
Facebook, and over 700 YouTube videos are shared on
Twitter each minute
100 million people take a social action on YouTube
(*likes, shares, comments, etc) every week

7. There is no way to know who a person really is online.
It could really be a teenage peer for your child, or it
could be an adult predator posing as such. Any
personal information should not be divulged online.
Any distinguishing landmarks, license plates, school
paraphernalia, etc. can be viewed in videos and used
to help track down the location of a person.
Videos that are sexually provocative can be used to
entice viewers – people need to be cautious about
how the videos they post may be used.
Cyber-bullying occurs – be mindful of what is being
posted so that it is not hateful or hurtful. Likewise,
report cyber-bullying when your child is a victim.
8. How old does my child have to be to use YouTube?
Users are required to be 13 years to create an account. If at any time it is discovered that a
user is under the age of 13, their account will be suspended.
My child is being harassed through their account on YouTube. What do I do?
You can block the harrassing user (see instructions further in Power Point) and you can also
view YouTube’s harrassment page in their Safety Center (see links further on).
How can I control what comments or content my children see?
Our Safety Mode feature is one option. Safety Mode is an opt-in setting that helps screen
out potentially objectionable content that you may prefer not to see or don't want others in
your family to stumble across while enjoying YouTube. When you opt in to Safety Mode,
videos with potentially objectionable content or that have been age restricted will not show
up in video search, related videos, playlists, shows and movies. Safety Mode does not
remove content from the site but rather keeps it off the page for users who opt in. See the
next page for instructions on opting in to Safety Mode.
9. Go to YouTube.com
Safety Mode On:
Click Safety Mode at the bottom of every page to open the preference setting
Click On and Save to opt in
You are now in Safety Mode!
To opt out, open Preferences and Click Off and Save.
10. Locked Safety Mode:
Sign in to your YouTube account
Click Safety Mode at the bottom of every page to open the preference setting
Click On and Save and Lock to opt in and lock this browser
You are now in Locked Safety Mode!
To opt out, open Preferences and Click Unlock Safety Mode.
Enter your YouTube password to unlock Safety Mode.
11. Keep an open line of communication with your
child. Let them know your concerns and be sure
to listen to theirs. Discuss your favorite videos
and theirs, maybe even view them together.
Keep an eye on your child’s internet usage,
whether YouTube or not. Know how they are
using it, what they are viewing, what they are
communicating and with whom.
Consider investing in software filters that would
block out certain websites and content.
Think about a computer usage/safety contract
(see next slide).
12. http://www.fosi.org/resources/257-fosi-
safety-contract.html
Use this website as a guide for creating your
own personal contract. This is a document
designed, agreed-upon and signed by both
parent(s) and child(ren). It serves to uphold
certain guidelines and agreements regarding
internet use and security measures between
parents and children.
13. Cyber-bullying: using an online platform – such as Facebook or YouTube – to cause
potential harm or embarrassment to others. Teens may specifically use these
platforms to make fun of or spread rumors about classmates, neighbors, friends,
etc. In some instances this tactic has lead to serious problems and even the
suicides of some teenagers.
”Likes”: when specifically related to social media such as YouTube or Facebook,
the act of clicking a “like” button on the website to signify one’s approval or
empathy or just plain enjoyment of a video (or photo, status update, link, etc.)
“Shares”: when specifically related to social media such as YouTube or Facbook,
the act of copying a link to one person’s video, photo, status, etc. and posting it
on your own page, giving credit to the original poster.
Social Media: platforms, primarily online, where people can gather to interact
with each other through written communication and the sharing of photos,
videos, and links to other websites.
Upload: the act of taking a photo, video or text and putting it onto the internet
Website: a place on the internet where people can find information about a
variety of topics. Frequently used by businesses, organizations or individuals to
promote goods and services offered.
YouTube: a social media website where people can place videos online for others
to view.
