If it’s on YouTube or Vimeo, you can use it within
reason.
1. Embed: Include it in an online-only offering.
Embedded into web code.
2. Link: Click on a link to launch video within the
YouTube/Vimeo site. (Pull shortened links from Share
button.)
3. Download: Have at it!
4. Attribution: Only required if a CC license is present.
5. If none of these options are available, you cannot use
it.
Can I use anything as long as I use attribution?
No.
If the item is protected only by COPYRIGHT, but not an expanded license such as Creative Commons or other licensing scheme, you must still get permission to use the work.
If you are using the item in a scholarly work or for commentary, criticism, or parody (usually in academic settings), then you are protected under Fair Use.

4. The license is displayed in the lower right corner. Click the License link to view the full copy.
5. Click the Download arrow in the far right to choose a size for download.
6. Make sure you make a note of WHO, WHERE, LINK, and LICENSE.

Open Source software is software that is developed collaboratively. The code is freely available and any one can build upon it or make improvements. This leads to well-supported, often surprisingly well-documented, software.
Sourceforge is the repository for the compiled software, much documentation, and the code.
OSalt lists both the Commerical versions and Open Source versions for comparisons
