5 Easy Marketing Tips
• Hosting an event provides you with an opportunity to showcase your services and
products on offer – making it all about your company’s profile and image.
• Launch your product at your business premises if it is suitable, or make use of the
many beautiful venues such as this one to host it.
• Make sure the venue is suitable to your prospective clients needs and target market.
• Bring in a draw card that will compliment your product and or services and to which
you feel proud to be affiliated with. A draw card can be a high profile personality, an
artists or a gift bag. Here in the Bay – we all love a little gift-). Another idea is to host
an event on behalf of a charity.
• Just remember that you have a captive audience attending your event, don’t let them
walk away not knowing who you are and what you have on offer.
• You can even offer an exclusive discount to those attending your event on the day.
• If you don’t like hosting events, then attend networking events and business expos
where you can meet new prospective clients.
Host an Event
• According to Fastroom.com there are 2billion active social media users in the world – and it
is increasing by 25% each year.
• A new favorite app is Slack – where companies (as big as Nasa) make use of it to
communicate with its employees and to collect data. This is to save time and get immediate
feedback from employees.
• Banning your staff from using social media might become something of the past. Instead
the employers now request their staff to share the company’s daily posts on their private
accounts.
• Facebook Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Youtube are still the top 5 favourites to be used.
• Last year companies spent an average of $24Billion on social media ad spent, this is
expecting to grow by 16% each year.
• With Social media you can reach your very specific target market at a fraction of the costs.
• Although it is time consuming, there are helpful apps such as Buffer, Everypost and
Huitesuit to access and maintain your posts across all the various networks at once.
Use Social Media
• Many people are confused between PR and Publicity as it gets used in the same
context too often.
• Public Relations is how you tell your company's story and future plans, assess the
attitudes of the public towards your policy. In short - managing your company’s
reputation. Think how much you enjoy a story – what is your story? What makes you
unique, what will make people talk about you – for good reasons obviously?
• PR is great for brand management. Your brand is what people say about you, the
feeling you leave behind.
• Some say that any publicity is good publicity, but where possible avoid bad publicity
as it can ruin your reputation.
• Publicity is one aspect of public relations. It is simply getting free media coverage or
exposure for your company. Publicity is a great tool to use, but be careful not too
appear that you are abusing the media for free exposure. At some point they will also
expect you to put aside money to advertise with them.
• Some companies make use of corporate clothing to get their branding out there
effectively.
Do you know the difference between
PR vs Publicity
• Make use of a professional video, graphics and photographic company
to capture the essence of your company and brand.
• This is also great to add into your blog. Make sure you have at least one
blog going out every month, even though you should make it at least 4 a
month. This assist in creating followers and most importantly – Trust.
• Various companies now make use of this service to do daily, weekly or
monthly updates on their social media and youtube accounts to gain
loyal followers.
• Establish who your target market is and create interesting topics that you
think they will enjoy watching. You want to ultimately create a loyal
subscribers database which you can make use of to send your specials
and services to on a monthly basis.
Use of Video, Graphics & Photography
• From these loyal subscribers you can request their contact numbers and email
addresses (with their permission) and send them a monthly newsletter and or short
sms alerts where applicable.
• Keep these forms of marketing to a limit as it might be perceived as spam – definitely
not what you wish to achieve.
• The rule of thumb is 90% of the information you sent must be helpful to them and
only 10% of the space is for you to promote your products or services.
• Another great way to get your products and services out there is to have a
promotional campaign going.
• Make use of eye catching – even tongue in cheek promoters and graphics to hand out
your unique flyers to the general public. You want people to remember you – what
will they remember about you?
• Most importantly – Follow Up!
• Never take your clients for granted and make sure they don’t forget you, by sending
them that monthly sms or email, even better, drop off a little something for them so
they can see you and remember you
