2. Background
YK Pao School is an independent, not-for-profit
school founded in memory of Sir Yue-Kong Pao
(包玉剛) on his 90th birthday.
YK Pao was a well known Hong Kong private
shipping magnate who acted as unofficial
ambassador for the return of Hong Kong to China
and an enthusiastic educational philanthropist.
His belief in “keeping fit”, “being thrifty” and
“persevering and hard work” has become the
motto of YK Pao School.

Pao School was founded in 2007 by:
Anna Sohmen Pao – Member of National and Zhejiang CPPCC,
Founding Governor of Chinese International School, HK
Philip Sohmen – Member of Shanghai CPPCC, graduate of Eton College,
Oxford and Stanford Universities.
Tan Fuyun – Vice-Chairman of the Shanghai Children’s Foundation;
Council Member of the National Soong Ching Ling Foundation
