The Benefits of Natural Gas in Our
Communities and in Our Homes
Available in abundance domestically, natural gas offers the U.S. the
opportunity to achieve energy independence. There is currently enough
natural gas in its traditional form to meet U.S. demand for more than 100
years. Natural gas is:
 A cost-effective primary energy source that meets the needs of a
wide range of residential, commercial and industrial applications
 Highly reliable and very flexible so it can be stored and then
delivered whenever customers need it
 Clean burning; emitting less CO2 per unit of energy than any other
fossil fuel; and releasing less greenhouse gas (GHG) than
electricity.
