A Comparison of God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide...
God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea
Jane Eyre, from Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Antoinette Mason, from Jean Rhys Wide
Sargasso Sea, both depict very different creeds. While Bronte created Jane with a Christian
background, Rhys has birthed Antoinette into a more primitive, confused faith. Analyzing each
writer s description of the red room will reveal the religious nature of their characters.
In both texts, the rooms are symbolic of church. As Jane is sent to the bedroom of her dead uncle,
Bronte relates it to a place of worship. A bed supported on massive pillars of mahogany, hung with
curtains of deep red damask, stood out like a tabernacle in the center . Due to the vast size and
illustrious beauty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, she did recognize the room as a church. I looked around for the altar for with so many
candles and so much red, the room reminded me of a church . Rhys vocalizes through Antoinette
that the room was like a church without an altar . Voidof a sanctuary, the room is in essence, void
of God. Despite her want of God, Antoinette has no Divine guidance as she remains in the altar less
room. Rhys has created this room in Antoinette s dream ergo she has control over Antoinette s
religious state. Due to this circumstance, Antoinette will never remember God because Rhys will
never allow her to dream of Him.
Heaven is exemplified in both books. Out of these deep surrounding shades rose high, and glared
white, the piled up mattresses and pillows of the bed, spread with a snowy Marseilles counterpane
. With this image of white pillows and mattresses floating up in the red room, clouds in the celestial
skies are represented. Bronte has brought to Jane a church, a tabernacle, God s throne, and now
heaven. Since Bronte has deluged Jane with all of these pious suggestions, she has adumbrated
Jane s religious associations. No doubt Jane believes in God; Bronte has assured the readers by
making His omnipresence known through the images in the room and allowing Jane to accept
them. On the other hand, Rhys makes Antoinette out to be a skeptic. I lit them [candles] carefully
from the one I was carrying but I couldn t reach

The Disability Rights Movement Summary
In the book The disability rights movement I learned the history and process people with
disabilities have been going through in order to obtain an equality of rights in the United States.
The book was written by Doris Zames Fleisher and her sister Frieda Zames as a way of raising
awareness of the reality of people with disabilities. Frieda Zames an activist in favor of the
American disabilities act, wrote this book to tell the story of civil rights movement and to make
people aware of the struggles that people with disabilities go through at the same time raising the
word for equality. The book demonstrates how grievances regarding medical issues can be
addressed in a democratic society by giving examples such as the life of President Franklin D.
Roosevelt. As a significant figure in this movement, Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first president
with disabilities, who contracted polio eleven years before he became president. He was a
significant figure in the movement because he served as an example of the capabilities a person
with a disabilities can have. He was also an advocate of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Importance of the Past in Willa Cather s My Antonia Essay
The Importance of the Past in Willa Cather s My Antonia
In My Antonia, Willa Cather emphasizes the importance of the past through Jum Burden s
narration. Jim Burden realizes at the conclusion of the novel how much he enjoyed his childhood
days and how much his memories mean to him. There are three events that Cather included in the
novel which contribute greatly to the overall theme, concerning the importance of the past.
One event is in Chapter II of Book III. Jim decides to write about his youth in Nebraska as Vergil
has just done. As he is thinking about this, Lena Lingard comes to the door and he is excited to see
her. Once again he begins to think about the past. Even after she left, just her presence had impacted

He spends a day in Black Hawk that ends in a disappointment since none of his childhood friends
are around. Walking out to the edge of town, he finds a half mile stretch of the old wagon road
which used to run like a wild thing across the open prairie. The memory of his first ride over that
road comes to him strongly. Now he feels that this road has brought him and Antonia back together.
It is the road of Destiny along which their lives have traveled.
Another event appears in chapter 14 of book II. Antonia and Jim are having a picnic by the river. It
is an important event for many reasons. First, the past is brought up, when Antonia says, It would
be like old times. The reader can only be reminded of the events that have taken place in Book I.
For example when Jim walks two miles towards the river. At the riverbank he takes a swim and
realizes how much he will miss this river once he goes off to college. Jim skated, swam and fished
on this river throughout his childhood. Second, it is the last shared afternoon of Jim and Antonia s
youth. Throughout their youth, Jim and Antonia share a number of memorable moments, like the
time when Jim teaches Antonia how to read. However, this is their last day together in their
childhood. Soon, Jim will be going away to college so the future is near. Then, he finds Antonia
crying because she is looking at overhanging bushes that remind her of Bohemia. It makes me

Families/ Groups
Columns of elements are called families or groups. Elements in the family have similar that are not
identical properties. For example, Lithium (LI) Sodium (NA), Potassium (K), and some other
members of group s family are soft with white shiny metals. The elements in the family have the
same amount of numbers of outer electrons.
Each horizontal row of the elements is called a period. The elements in the period are not like in
properties. In fact, the properties change greatly across even given row (periodicity). The first
element in the period is always an extremely solid that is active. The last element in the period is
always an inactive gas. Each new period will represent the next shell fall of electrons which will
fill the period.
Hydrogen group
Hydrogen rests at the summit of group yet it is not a representative of that family. Hydrogen is
inside a category of its own. Gas at free space temperature.

Do Girls Have Too Much Pressure On What Their Body Figure...
Do girls have too much pressure on what their body figure looks like? One s body is what makes
us who we are. Every single person is unique due to an individual physical trait. Even though
everyone has an opinion about what his or her perfect body would be, changing one s personal
features would take away from individuality. Not just your inner beauty, but your outer beauty
makes you different than anyone else. What is positive body image? Your face is the first thing
that everyone notices. It communicates to the world that you are together, knowledgeable,
informed, and capable with your title and position. Your face should be completely relaxed and
in control. Body language is a kind of non verbal communication, were thoughts, intensions, and
feelings are expressed by physical behaviors, such as facial expressions, body posture, gestures,
eye movement, touch and the use of space. Body language exist in both humans and animals.
Body language comprises gesture, stance, and facial expression. These are all the more
important when all eyes of an audience are upon you. When you are presenting, strong positive
body language becomes an essential tool in helping you build credibility, express your emotions,
and connect with your listeners. It also helps your listeners focus more intently on you and what
you re saying. What is negative body image? Negative body image can involve a distorted

Analysis Of Krashen s Theory Of Language Acquisition
OPTION A: Krashen s Theory of Language Acquisition in my School District The Chicago
Public Schools district, in which I work, offers a program for English Language learners with the
goal to help students become proficient in the English language. In Chicago Public School there
are about 70, 400 students who in 2015 were identified as being English Language Learners.
According to Chicago Public Schools, English Language Learners have a right to participate in an
educational program for English Learners. In order for a student to participate in the English
Language Learner program, students must first be classified or identified as an English Language
Learner. Chicago Public Schools identifies students as English Learners by having each student
complete a survey when they enroll in a Chicago Public School for the first time. The parent or the
legal guardian completes a survey that includes a home language survey that asks two questions: 1.
Is a language other than English spoken in the home; 2. Does the student speak a language other
than English? If the answers given are that yes the student speaks another language and yes a
language other than English is spoken in the home; then, the student is classified as an English
Language Learner. The next step is to test the student s English proficiency level. This is done by
testing the student and assessing his/her listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. After the
student is tested, depending on the results of

Negative Externality Of Alcohol
Alcohol is the most widely used drug in the world, because of its accessibility. The term alcohol
refers to the primary alcohol ethanol. In 2015 about 89% of adults in the United States stated that
they had consumed alcohol at some point in their lives. Alcohol is a demerit good, because it can
have negative effects on the consumer. The effects of alcohol consumption can also impact other
people and those spill over effects are called negative externalities. Negative externalities cause
market failure, because an individual s incentive for a certain behavior does not lead to rational
outcomes for society.
Negative externalities of alcohol consumption can be for example when a person is injured from
bad drinking habits, needs medical or psychological treatment, and their family has to pay for it.
In Figure 1 you can see that the external cost, being the therapy the family has to pay, makes the
curve for the marginal social cost (MSC) higher than the curve for the private marginal cost (MPC).
In this case the marginal social cost is the impact the person drinking has on others and the marginal
private cost is the price of the alcohol consumed. Now Q1, the socially efficient output, is a lower
output that the market equilibrium, at Q.
When a person s property is destroyed by someone who is drunk, for example, in a car accident,
that is also a negative externality of alcohol consumption. In Figure 2 you can see that 40% of the
highway fatalities involved alcohol and accounted for about 13,000 deaths in 2010 in the United
States. Here the marginal social cost would be the loss of a functioning vehicle and the payments to
repair the property, which were damaged. The marginal social cost is higher than the private
marginal cost and the socially efficient output is again lower than the output at market equilibrium.
The free rider problem does not apply to alcohol consumption as a negative externality, because
alcohol is not a public good. Free riders use public goods and do not pay for them. Alcohol is a

Why Did Texas Fight
What caused thousands of people to fight in one of the bloodiest wars in American history for there
homeland? Maybe it was because of the Missouri Compromise, or possibly the abolitionist who
tried to start a slave uprising. This creates the question why did Texans Fight? I believe that Texans
fought beacuse they wanted to protect states rights, love for Texas, and perserve slavery. First off,
Texans fought for the south was states rights. Texas became mad when they were informed that
they could t leave the union. No state upon its own mere motion, can lawfully get out of the union.

Tangerine Literary Analysis
Did you ever want to see the truth about everyone and understand what they mean? In the novel
Tangerine by Edward Bloor the themes seeing and truth is expressed. But I can see. I can see
everything. I can see things that Mom and Dad can t. Or won t. These are Paul s words and they
foreshadow what s to come. In other words, Paul s parents are underestimating his eyesight and
believe that Paul is only a handicap kid that needs assistance with everything. In addition to that
Paul has an older brother named Erik, he s the star of the show. Paul s parents think of Erik as
the golden child, but in reality Erik is a psychopath that wants to kill Paul, sadly only Paul sees

been racist since kids at Tangerine are mainly Latino others look down on them and only see
them as troublemakers who have gangs. Bloor used imagery to express how Tangerine was a

The Negative Consequences Of Homework
Students, parents, and teachers will agree with the assertion that homework is a difficult topic to
find middle ground on. Students usually loath being assigned homework and being required to
complete it. Teachers find it difficult to assign homework, knowing that their students aren t
motivated to do it. Furthermore, parents mull over on getting their children to complete their
homework because they believe it needs to be completed if educators have assigned it. However,
recently there has been proof that assigning homework might not benefit students as much as
previously conceived. Schools and educators have claimed that homework improves students
academic performance and academic comprehension. After careful analysis, the actuality is that
large amounts of homework have more negative consequences than positive ones.
Assigning students large amounts of homework invites unnecessary, undesired, and unimportant
conflict or stress in the lives of students. The conflict begins at school between the teacher and the
student. When students come to school with incomplete homework, they are either penalized or
scolded by their teachers. Next, the teachers will notify the student s parents in an attempt to get the
student to complete the homework assignments. Usually, parents are unsatisfied to hear that their
student isn t completing the work that is required. The students will have to accept the
consequences at school and at home. This common situation should be avoided for the

Business Cycle And Recovery Period Analysis
Introduction The period following a recession, where the GDP of the economy is increasing, is
encapsulated in the term recovery . Subsequently, an increase in national output would ensue, thus
prompting the recovery and growth of the economy. As opposed to the previously existent
contractionary period, the economy would now be working at higher capacity allowing factors such
as the rate of unemployment to decline, in addition to increasing productivity. Illustrated in the
diagram below shows the business cycle and recovery period. As shown in the diagram, the
recovery stage occurs between the trough (the lowest point in the graph, and where the real output
is equal to the potential output. Impact on values of imports The term... Show more content on

Nevertheless, despite a decline in quantity demand for these good and services, the resultant
increase in price may balance the decline that occurred to the demand. Thus, as a result of the
elasticity of price of imported goods, the increase of price affecting imports, caused by
deprecation of currency, may ultimately have negligible effect on the value of imports, and
might possibly even cause it to increase. Additionally, despite the depreciation of the British
pound in 2007, the UK s economy experienced a 3.1% increase in imports. This is a result of the
UK economy being at a stage of recovery, which would cause to increase imports, as the
manufacturing division would import an increased amount of foreign products. Thus, it is
plausible that a fall in the value of the GBP, which would inevitably cause an increase in price of
imports, may prompt the value of imported goods and services to remain stagnant or decrease.
Due to decreased labour productivity In the instance of a decline in the labour productivity of the
UK in its entirety, a decline will consequently occur in the general production of goods in the
country. This would trigger a chain of events that would concomitantly increase the cost of
production per unit for the producers, causing the supply to decrease, regardless of the price it is
sold at. These circumstances would result in a reduction of the aggregate supply (AS) of the

Application Of A Macbook Pro And Os X
Data, Information, and Organizational Knowledge is this week s assignment and after completing
the required reading/videos introducing the notion of computer basics; I have to answer a few
questions for the case study. So let s get down to business and learn computer basics. So what
operating system does my computeruse? For my personal computerI chose to utilize a MacBook
Pro and OS X El Capitan is the operating system that powers my Mac. The OS X operating system
is based on the UNIX foundation. According to Opengroup.org UNIX is the most stable, portable
and cost effective applications development environment for a wide range of platforms from mobile
devices to mainframes.
Some examples of applications residing in my mac is a collection of apps for handling everyday
tasks/life, but they of course are different from the traditional PC in not only name but architecture.
Like Safari for internet/web access, Photos program to handle my photos and videos, Pages for
creating documents like word does, Numbers for making spreadsheets, and iTunes for managing
all of my music library as well as my videos and downloaded media. Mac s come fully loaded with
applications in relation to a standard Pc where you essentially get a machine with trial software vs
an almost fully loaded machine.
With the advent of the cloud I use quite a few apps that are cloud based; the one I use the most
and have experience with on a daily basis is the Notes app. The Notes app is merely an app that

Colonization Of America Research Paper
The Colonization of America Did you know, 80 100 million native people died during the
colonization of North and South America? Europe was so focused on colonizing the new land for
their own benefit, they never thought about their impact on native lives. Many factors led to the
colonization of the Americas, including religious, economic, and cultural from Spain, France,
England, and the Netherlands.
First off, Spanish explorers were the first to start colonizing the Americas. They were in search of
gold and silver, looking to make themselves rich. Spanish men found, plundered, and destroyed the
great Aztec Empire city of TenochtitlГЎn, killing countless people, enslaving many more, and

The natives traded fur in exchange for European goods, like metals, and weapons. Native tribes
preferred trading with the Dutch of the French because the Dutch gave them better quality goods,
better prices, and were more willing to trade weapons. The Dutch royalty, much like the Spanish,
also wanted to expand their empire. Dutch colonization should have been the most successful
colonization because they traded fairly with the natives, didn t steal natives land, and didn t wage
wars against native or other colonial people. This would have left a society where native people
and newcomers could live together in virtual peace and the land would still be plentiful in wildlife.
But, the english threatened to wipe out the Dutch, so they gave up their claims to the land, wanting
to avoid going to war with the larger, more wealthy country. Overall, the Dutch colonization was
mainly because of fur trading, and dutch colonies were very

Analysis Of Ung Chang s Wild Swans
ung Chang s Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China follows three generations of woman in China
through live and political struggles. China s transformation between 1910s and 1970s, was one of
radical change and caused great suffering. The importance of Chang s book is its in a women s
point of view by showing the suffering and healing that occurred and to educate about the history of
Chinathrough the Warlord, Japanese, and Mao rule. The book is laid out through three
generations: grandma, mom, and the author. Though, it could be looked at through the Warlord
period, Japanese rule, and the Communist rule. Grandma s story started in the warlord period of
China. Mom s story was through the Japanese control and Pre Mao. The author s story was
through Mao s rule of China. The book is organized by the history of the familyand China. It goes
both through the story of China and her family. It shows the progression of China through the lives
of her family and her. Each chapter of Wild Swans contributes to Chang s main point by stacking
one idea on another. One event leads to another. For example, the Chinese were treated terribly
under the role of the Japanese. After Japan lost World War II, Soviet and Mongolian troops entered
China.1 This lead the Chinese to revolt against the Japanese who were still living in China by
school children beating up their Japanese teachers.2 Afterwards, two parties, the Communist and

Analysis Of George Eliot s Adam Bede
In George Eliot s Adam Bede we witness an illustration of the discussion between not only crime,
but morality, values, and extraordinarily, beauty as well. The so called universal ideal of femininity
is, according to our novelist s own interpretation, being interrogated sternly. Unfortunately, what we
find in Eliot s own interrogation method of these structures is just another, albeit different, version
of Liberal Humanism with its own stereotypes, judgement calls, and unfair half treatments of
women, their bodies, and their interiorities. While Eliot provides us female characters, Dinah and
Hetty, as guideposts to understand women s autonomy of decision, we are still given stale
caricatures of saintly self sacrifice and vain, illogical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dinah, or selfless saint, spends her time focused on the mores of the world, of the sake of the
souls of people, and not on her own comfort or path. While Eliot branches out in making Dinah a
Methodist Minister, she still lives into the feminine standards. Dinah pushes without pushing too
hard and always seeks the betterment of others. Whereas Hetty, after she met her lover in the
woods, rebuked Dinah s attempts to help her and returned to the woods shortly there after in a state
of consciousness that was fragmented and confused, Dinah returned to her bedchamber and and
threw herself on her knees, and poured out in deep silence all the passionate pity that filled her
heart for Hetty. Hetty, however, cannot be bothered by the concerns, desires, and vulnerabilities
which exist in the other. Eliot curated Hetty to serve as the counterpoint of to the values Eliot
promotes, and while she does some interesting things with how Hetty is observed by others (which
shall not currently be discussed), Hetty is still representative and modelled in the stereotypical style
of the vain woman willing to forgo duties and her own honor in hopes of attaining higher position
and so called fineries. When Hetty encounters another character she doesn t look into engaging with
their needs or wants, but rather reacts to them based merely off of her own needs. As Adam

March 31, 2011
Bitzer s The Rhetorical Situation Penguin responses to climate change in the Southern Ocean by

migrating patterns of different species of penguins due to changes in climate. (p. 1618) Also,

Although the authors of this article regularly use a multitude of sources, data, and statistics to
support their hypothesis, there are several (not all) which seem to be overly used and randomly
cited. This may serve as a constraint to the audience because if the information presented does not
seem to be entirely relevant, it may be a painless assumption for the audience that the issue at hand
is not an incredibly urgent one, but instead, a rhetoric discoursed just for the sake of rhetoric. Also,
the overwhelming wealth of information shown may serve as a distraction from the simple fact the
rhetoric is trying to convey: penguins are affected by climate change; in result, penguins affect the
environment. The information does not, however, prove to be faulty, but each piece of data seems
to be calculated accurately. For example, a table is provided that names each species of penguin, the
threats against them, and their resulting response to that threat. This makes it very clear whether
each species has the ability to adapt, or if the climate change has just caused them to disperse.
Also, each piece of data is affiliated with a source, which increases the audience s opinion of the
writer s character.
Another aspect of the research that does seem to constrain the author s point of view, however, is
the fact that no actual experiment was conducted by F amp; T.

A plc has more chance to become successfully. The company produce goods at lower unit cost and

Another advantage of a franchise is that you use a recognized business name and reputation also
the franchise benefit from advertising or promoting. The franchise has to share all the profit with
the franchisor while Tesco which is a public limited company have to share their profit between a
great numbers of people. Shares can be advertised and sold through the stock exchange. Another
advantage of a public limited company it has more chance to become successful because they
have thousand people who working for it, with many skills, idea and experiences. Franchisee is
different from a public limited company has it is dependent on the franchisor skills. If the
franchisor goes out of business or gets a bad reputation, this will cause problems in the business.
One of the key similarities between these two types of ownership is liability. The franchise and
public limited company have limited liability. This means protections of their shareholder from
losing their personal finances if the company goes bankrupt. If the company fail they only lose
their invested money in the business. If business wants to become a limited liability can it be
complicated and expensive to set the business, decisions can take longer and it takes a lot of legal
requirements.

Their Eyes Were Watching God Identity Analysis
What is identity? A normal person would think that it s simply defined as who we are. However,
there are many definitions of identity, as it can mean differently for others. Identity is what
makes us unique from one another because there is no one else like us. Since our surroundings,
such as the people we meet and places we go to, possess a role into shaping who we are, we are
constantly changing. As we grow up and become curious, we experiences many things and start to
see different sides of ourselves. We start to question our individuality, to the point where we may
struggle with whom we really are. Similar to Janie Crawford in the novel Their Eyes Were

There are many different factors that influence our identity, such as our family, relationships,
society, etc. Family plays a significant role into shaping our identity because they can influence our
attitudes, beliefs, and values. Some may grow up having the same values as their parents because it
s what they are taught and they retain those values as they enter adulthood. They may be modified
along the way, but it s not completely gone. Although family can help prevent us from committing
poor choices through guidance, they can also hinder our ability to accomplish what we desire. In
Janie s case, Nanny plays a significant part into shaping her identity. Since Janie and Nanny had
only each other left, Nanny became very protective of Janie. In order for Janie to avoid
experiencing the tragedy both her mother and grandmother went through, which was being raped

experience shows an individual who suffered tremendously behind doors that no one else could

It is obvious that there is not control and while medication helps, there is a significant consequence
when missing treatment. Additionally, material learned within this book can help fundamentally

When ECT hit the medical scene in the 40s and 50s, it was unsafe and gruesome (Dahl, 2008).
Treatment was often performed while the patient was awake, and their convulsions were not
controlled at all they were often strong enough to break bones. ECT hit its peak in the 1960s
when three tenths of a million US citizens underwent the therapy yearly (Dahl, 2008). At that
point, however, it was still absolutely a cruel procedure (Dahl, 2008). It is still yet to recover
from its ghastly past, the general public still thinks of ECT as how it was portrayed in One Flew
Over the Coocoo s Nest, and more recently, Requiem for a Dream (Fitzgerald, 2011). A
psychiatrist summed up the current status of ECT very well saying, Quite frankly, the stigma
pushes people away from it, and it pushes some psychiatrists away from even recommending
ECT, but most of the stigma related to ECT really is related to misconception (Dahl, 2008). ECT
is done in cases where it is necessary or when it is the best option available. It provides quick and
notable alleviations of harmful symptoms of various mental disorders. It is often used in cases of
the elderly who cannot deal with the symptoms associated with anti depressants, people who would

painting, he became interested in both steam engines and boats. In 1802 Fulton Livingston met
Robert, who then agreed to help in the creation of steam boats. They ordered their first engine in
1803 but it was not allowed to be exported until 1806 as it needed to be tested for safety and
development conditions. After the creation of the boat was approved to set sail, they went on a
voyage from New York city to Albany. They then named their ship Clermont which carried over
100 passengers each voyage, mostly from New York city and Albany. It broke the record of
traveling 40 miles in the time period of 8 hours during the industrial revolution. This invention was
a huge success during the industrial revolution as more and more people needed to be transported
due to the baby boom year, The steam boat was turned from an idea into very successful

Analysis Of George Orwell s 1984
Those familiar with George Orwell s 1984 will recall that Newspeak was designed not to extend
but to diminish the range of thought. I recently felt the weight of this Orwellian ethos when
many of my students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps warn me, that my name appears on
the Professor Watchlist, a new website created by a conservative youth group known as Turning
Point USA. I could sense the gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to
come. The Professor Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those
of us within academia who advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It names and includes
photographs of some 200 professors. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic
desire to make America great again and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are
anti Republican or express anti Republican values. For many black people, making America
great again is especially threatening, as it signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic
racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare. The
new watchlist is essentially a new species of McCarthyism, especially in terms of its overtones of
disloyalty to the American republic. And it is reminiscent of Cointelpro, the secret F.B.I. program
that spied on, infiltrated and discredited American political organizations in the 50s and 60s. Its
goal of outing professors for their views helps to

Jessica Lang Dance Concert Report
Jessica Lang Dance s concert showed at the Irvine Barclay Theater on February 19, 2016 was
successfully launched with stunning exhibitions in one night. For my specific concert, it was held
on the second floor at entryway number five. As I was expected, the stage was fairly small, and
has two levels incorporate the lower and upper (balcony), in the mean time of looking at the stage,
the concert began right about five minutes later. The main scene of an opening performance was a
male dressed in tight clothing, the danceis called Solo Bach. With the blissful musicand splendid
stage, the artist conveys the audience to an appreciated mindset with his spectacular opening. The
movements are not so complicated, rather simple and delicate as he proceeds throughout the entire
performance. At every end of each display, there was a small break between each showing. Among

Comparing Virgin Of The Rocks And The Last Supper
Introduction
This paper will explore the detail expressed through religion based renaissance art. The two
works to be explored here are The Last Supper and the Virgin of the Rocks, which both have
Christian references and have properties owing to the depictions of the main character in the
painting. The Last Supper was created in 1498, in Milan and is on oil and plaster; Virgin of the
Rocks was created circa 1483 1486 and is oil on panel.
Works to Explore
In Virgin of the Rocks, a woman is sitting, surrounded by what looks like three children. They
seem to all be paying attention to the child she is holding, who is John the Baptist. In The Last
Supper, 13 people sit at a table having a large feast. They are all engrosses in various conversations,

Both of these pictures have but biblical characters into settings that are unusual for the time. May
and Jesus are usually depicted on thrones or in ambiguous settings. However, both of these
paintings show that there is a more human element to these people. In Virgin of the Rocks, Mary
is sitting on the ground in a place where there are jagged rocks and various types of shrubbery. It
seems to even be a deserted area that is secluded and over grown. The figures are all located in a
fabulous and mystical landscape with rivers that seem to lead nowhere and bizarre rock
formations, in the foreground we see carefully observed and precisely rendered plants and
flowers (Syson and Billinge, p. 5).This type of representation of Mary is referred to as the
Madonna of Humility (Freke Gandy, p. 34). When it comes to Virgin of the Rocks, the point of
interest that reveals the paintings subject are the hands of the people. Mary has her right arm
around the infant Saint John the Baptist who is making a gesture of prayer to the Christ child, the
Christ child in turn blesses St. John. Mary s left hand hovers protectively over the head of her son
while an angel looks out and points to St. John (p.

Descriptive Experience Of Roller Coasters
#Roller coasters are mainly recognized for the thrill. When I was younger I was always
fascinated by the bright colors that they represented. A variety of rides caught my attention but I
was always afraid to get on the highest roller coasters. From what I remember as a child my
family and I visited multiple amusement parks such as Six Flags, Knott s Berry Farm and
Disneyland. All those ravishing places impacted my curiosity about roller coasters stability. Since I
was only an adolescent my curiosity arbitrary sparked on its own it was only until then when I
began to think differently. Although I was too afraid to ride the highest roller coasters I was
primarily curious about the height, velocity, and thrill excitement.
#One of my main concerns of these rollercoasters was the height they all incorporated with each
other. It appeared to me like skyscrapers left to right in a threesixty circular motion. These roller
coasters were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would
construct these enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I
stared at them continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up. Acrophobia is significantly
the fear of height, which I appeared to been having every time I visited an amusement park. My
family habitually attempted to give me motivation so my fear of heights wouldn t make me
uncomfortable. In addition, one of the countless days I visited the parks I saw a young boy around

A Study On Mcnabs Island
Over the past 4 months, I have been extensively studying McNabs Island. From studying elevation,
slope, landscape materials, coastal processes, hydrology, climate patterns, slope aspect, as well as
vegetation I was able to create a synthesis map of the ideal areas where an environmental education
center could possibly be placed on the island without harming the island natural environment and
processes. This report includes an analysis of the island, a constraints and opportunities summary, as
well as inventory maps, analysis maps, and the final synthesis map.
McNabs Island is located south east of Halifax, Nova Scotia within the Halifax harbour. McNabs is
surrounded by the Halifax Peninsula and has Lawlor island near its south eastern side. In the past
McNabs Island was used by the military as a location for forts such as that of Fort Ives as well as
an area for fish processing because of its coastal beaches (Manuel Thompson, 2016). It was also
used as an area to live on, particularly by the McNabs family (Manuel Thompson, 2016). In the
early 1900 s the Davis family located their soft and alcoholic drink processing facility on the island.
McNabs Island has a surface area of 460ha. The elevations on McNabs Island range from 0m to
40m in height. Predominately the areas of higher elevation are where the drumlin hills are located
while the lower areas lie between drumlins and around the coastline. McNabs Island has 4 major
drumlins (Manuel Thompson, 2016). Because of

Protection of participants rights
пѓ Were appropriate procedures used to safeguard the rights of study participants? Was the study
subject to external review by an IRB/ethics review board?
пѓ Was the study designed to minimize risks and maximize benefits to participants? This is a
small scale study done in preparation for a major study so an IRB/ethics review board was not
consulted. The consent provisions were followed with all study participants. The tests were
administered then participants took information home to read and look over for a test retest in two
weeks.
Research design
пѓ Was the most rigorous possible design used, given the purpose of the research?
пѓ Were appropriate comparisons made to enhance interpretability of the findings?
пѓ Was the number of data collection points appropriate?
пѓ Did the design minimize biases and threats to the internal, construct, and external validity of
the study (e.g., was blinding used, was attrition minimized)?
External validity of the small sampling cause concerns for generalizability of results. As mentioned
in the Discussion section of the research, 106 and 130 participants per groups would be an
appropriate sample size. The most rigorous possible design was not used in this research. One
weakness is utilizing the 1953 and 1969 evaluation tools to compare and contrast to the year 2013.
Content validity was used when a six member panel of experts evaluated the pamphlets to

Symbology In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Piggy symbolises a rope because he holds everyone together. This representation is true because
people use rope to tie or hold things together. One quote to show this is The first thing we ought
to have made was shelters down there by the beach. Another way piggy symbolises a rope is that
he supports the group. One way he supports the group is taking care of the little ones. In
conclusion Piggy symbolises a rope because he holds everyone together and supports the group.
Ralph symbolises a toolbox because he is useful for many different things. This representation is
true because a toolbox holds many different items thus making it useful for many different tasks.

  • 2. A Comparison of God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide... God and Religion in Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea Jane Eyre, from Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Antoinette Mason, from Jean Rhys Wide Sargasso Sea, both depict very different creeds. While Bronte created Jane with a Christian background, Rhys has birthed Antoinette into a more primitive, confused faith. Analyzing each writer s description of the red room will reveal the religious nature of their characters. In both texts, the rooms are symbolic of church. As Jane is sent to the bedroom of her dead uncle, Bronte relates it to a place of worship. A bed supported on massive pillars of mahogany, hung with curtains of deep red damask, stood out like a tabernacle in the center . Due to the vast size and illustrious beauty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, she did recognize the room as a church. I looked around for the altar for with so many candles and so much red, the room reminded me of a church . Rhys vocalizes through Antoinette that the room was like a church without an altar . Voidof a sanctuary, the room is in essence, void of God. Despite her want of God, Antoinette has no Divine guidance as she remains in the altar less room. Rhys has created this room in Antoinette s dream ergo she has control over Antoinette s religious state. Due to this circumstance, Antoinette will never remember God because Rhys will never allow her to dream of Him. Heaven is exemplified in both books. Out of these deep surrounding shades rose high, and glared white, the piled up mattresses and pillows of the bed, spread with a snowy Marseilles counterpane . With this image of white pillows and mattresses floating up in the red room, clouds in the celestial skies are represented. Bronte has brought to Jane a church, a tabernacle, God s throne, and now heaven. Since Bronte has deluged Jane with all of these pious suggestions, she has adumbrated Jane s religious associations. No doubt Jane believes in God; Bronte has assured the readers by making His omnipresence known through the images in the room and allowing Jane to accept them. On the other hand, Rhys makes Antoinette out to be a skeptic. I lit them [candles] carefully from the one I was carrying but I couldn t reach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Disability Rights Movement Summary In the book The disability rights movement I learned the history and process people with disabilities have been going through in order to obtain an equality of rights in the United States. The book was written by Doris Zames Fleisher and her sister Frieda Zames as a way of raising awareness of the reality of people with disabilities. Frieda Zames an activist in favor of the American disabilities act, wrote this book to tell the story of civil rights movement and to make people aware of the struggles that people with disabilities go through at the same time raising the word for equality. The book demonstrates how grievances regarding medical issues can be addressed in a democratic society by giving examples such as the life of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. As a significant figure in this movement, Franklin D. Roosevelt was the first president with disabilities, who contracted polio eleven years before he became president. He was a significant figure in the movement because he served as an example of the capabilities a person with a disabilities can have. He was also an advocate of... Jim Burden realizes at the conclusion of the novel how much he enjoyed his childhood days and how much his memories mean to him. There are three events that Cather included in the novel which contribute greatly to the overall theme, concerning the importance of the past. One event is in Chapter II of Book III. The memory of his first ride over that road comes to him strongly. Now he feels that this road has brought him and Antonia back together. It is the road of Destiny along which their lives have traveled. Another event appears in chapter 14 of book II. Antonia and Jim are having a picnic by the river. It is an important event for many reasons. First, the past is brought up, when Antonia says, It would be like old times. The reader can only be reminded of the events that have taken place in Book I. For example when Jim walks two miles towards the river. At the riverbank he takes a swim and realizes how much he will miss this river once he goes off to college. Jim skated, swam and fished on this river throughout his childhood. Second, it is the last shared afternoon of Jim and Antonia s youth. Throughout their youth, Jim and Antonia share a number of memorable moments, like the time when Jim teaches Antonia how to read. However, this is their last day together in their childhood. Soon, Jim will be going away to college so the future is near. Then, he finds Antonia crying because she is looking at overhanging bushes that remind her of Bohemia. It makes me homesick, ... • 20. Negative Externality Of Alcohol Alcohol is the most widely used drug in the world, because of its accessibility. The term alcohol refers to the primary alcohol ethanol. In 2015 about 89% of adults in the United States stated that they had consumed alcohol at some point in their lives. Alcohol is a demerit good, because it can have negative effects on the consumer. The effects of alcohol consumption can also impact other people and those spill over effects are called negative externalities. Negative externalities cause market failure, because an individual s incentive for a certain behavior does not lead to rational outcomes for society. Negative externalities of alcohol consumption can be for example when a person is injured from bad drinking habits, needs medical or psychological treatment, and their family has to pay for it. In Figure 1 you can see that the external cost, being the therapy the family has to pay, makes the curve for the marginal social cost (MSC) higher than the curve for the private marginal cost (MPC). In this case the marginal social cost is the impact the person drinking has on others and the marginal private cost is the price of the alcohol consumed. Now Q1, the socially efficient output, is a lower output that the market equilibrium, at Q. When a person s property is destroyed by someone who is drunk, for example, in a car accident, that is also a negative externality of alcohol consumption. In Figure 2 you can see that 40% of the highway fatalities involved alcohol and accounted for about 13,000 deaths in 2010 in the United States. Here the marginal social cost would be the loss of a functioning vehicle and the payments to repair the property, which were damaged. The marginal social cost is higher than the private marginal cost and the socially efficient output is again lower than the output at market equilibrium. The free rider problem does not apply to alcohol consumption as a negative externality, because alcohol is not a public good. Free riders use public goods and do not pay for them. Alcohol is a private good, because you have to buy it in a store and if you took the last bottle of chardonnay the others cannot buy anymore chardonnay, so it is excludable. Although you might think that there may be no social ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. The Negative Consequences Of Homework Students, parents, and teachers will agree with the assertion that homework is a difficult topic to find middle ground on. Students usually loath being assigned homework and being required to complete it. Teachers find it difficult to assign homework, knowing that their students aren t motivated to do it. Furthermore, parents mull over on getting their children to complete their homework because they believe it needs to be completed if educators have assigned it. However, recently there has been proof that assigning homework might not benefit students as much as previously conceived. Schools and educators have claimed that homework improves students academic performance and academic comprehension. After careful analysis, the actuality is that large amounts of homework have more negative consequences than positive ones. Assigning students large amounts of homework invites unnecessary, undesired, and unimportant conflict or stress in the lives of students. The conflict begins at school between the teacher and the student. When students come to school with incomplete homework, they are either penalized or scolded by their teachers. Next, the teachers will notify the student s parents in an attempt to get the student to complete the homework assignments. Usually, parents are unsatisfied to hear that their student isn t completing the work that is required. The students will have to accept the consequences at school and at home. Nevertheless, despite a decline in quantity demand for these good and services, the resultant increase in price may balance the decline that occurred to the demand. Thus, as a result of the elasticity of price of imported goods, the increase of price affecting imports, caused by deprecation of currency, may ultimately have negligible effect on the value of imports, and might possibly even cause it to increase. Additionally, despite the depreciation of the British pound in 2007, the UK s economy experienced a 3.1% increase in imports. This is a result of the UK economy being at a stage of recovery, which would cause to increase imports, as the manufacturing division would import an increased amount of foreign products. Thus, it is plausible that a fall in the value of the GBP, which would inevitably cause an increase in price of imports, may prompt the value of imported goods and services to remain stagnant or decrease. Due to decreased labour productivity In the instance of a decline in the labour productivity of the UK in its entirety, a decline will consequently occur in the general production of goods in the country. This would trigger a chain of events that would concomitantly increase the cost of production per unit for the producers, causing the supply to decrease, regardless of the price it is sold at. Europe was so focused on colonizing the new land for their own benefit, they never thought about their impact on native lives. Analysis Of George Eliot s Adam Bede In George Eliot s Adam Bede we witness an illustration of the discussion between not only crime, but morality, values, and extraordinarily, beauty as well. The so called universal ideal of femininity is, according to our novelist s own interpretation, being interrogated sternly. Unfortunately, what we find in Eliot s own interrogation method of these structures is just another, albeit different, version of Liberal Humanism with its own stereotypes, judgement calls, and unfair half treatments of women, their bodies, and their interiorities. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dinah, or selfless saint, spends her time focused on the mores of the world, of the sake of the souls of people, and not on her own comfort or path. While Eliot branches out in making Dinah a Methodist Minister, she still lives into the feminine standards. Dinah pushes without pushing too hard and always seeks the betterment of others. Whereas Hetty, after she met her lover in the woods, rebuked Dinah s attempts to help her and returned to the woods shortly there after in a state of consciousness that was fragmented and confused, Dinah returned to her bedchamber and and threw herself on her knees, and poured out in deep silence all the passionate pity that filled her heart for Hetty. Hetty, however, cannot be bothered by the concerns, desires, and vulnerabilities which exist in the other. Eliot curated Hetty to serve as the counterpoint of to the values Eliot promotes, and while she does some interesting things with how Hetty is observed by others (which shall not currently be discussed), Hetty is still representative and modelled in the stereotypical style of the vain woman willing to forgo duties and her own honor in hopes of attaining higher position and so called fineries. • 41. Analysis Of George Orwell s 1984 Those familiar with George Orwell s 1984 will recall that Newspeak was designed not to extend but to diminish the range of thought. I recently felt the weight of this Orwellian ethos when many of my students sent emails to inform me, and perhaps warn me, that my name appears on the Professor Watchlist, a new website created by a conservative youth group known as Turning Point USA. I could sense the gravity in those email messages, a sense of relaying what is to come. The Professor Watchlist s mission, among other things, is to sound an alarm about those of us within academia who advance leftist propaganda in the classroom. It names and includes photographs of some 200 professors. The Watchlist appears to be consistent with a nostalgic desire to make America great again and to expose and oppose those voices in academia that are anti Republican or express anti Republican values. For many black people, making America great again is especially threatening, as it signals a return to a more explicit and unapologetic racial dystopia. For us, dreaming of yesterday is not a privilege, not a desire, but a nightmare. The new watchlist is essentially a new species of McCarthyism, especially in terms of its overtones of disloyalty to the American republic. And it is reminiscent of Cointelpro, the secret F.B.I. program that spied on, infiltrated and discredited American political organizations in the 50s and 60s. Its goal of outing professors for their views helps to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Comparing Virgin Of The Rocks And The Last Supper Introduction This paper will explore the detail expressed through religion based renaissance art. The two works to be explored here are The Last Supper and the Virgin of the Rocks, which both have Christian references and have properties owing to the depictions of the main character in the painting. The Last Supper was created in 1498, in Milan and is on oil and plaster; Virgin of the Rocks was created circa 1483 1486 and is oil on panel. Works to Explore In Virgin of the Rocks, a woman is sitting, surrounded by what looks like three children. They seem to all be paying attention to the child she is holding, who is John the Baptist. In The Last Supper, 13 people sit at a table having a large feast. They are all engrosses in various conversations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these pictures have but biblical characters into settings that are unusual for the time. May and Jesus are usually depicted on thrones or in ambiguous settings. However, both of these paintings show that there is a more human element to these people. In Virgin of the Rocks, Mary is sitting on the ground in a place where there are jagged rocks and various types of shrubbery. It seems to even be a deserted area that is secluded and over grown. The figures are all located in a fabulous and mystical landscape with rivers that seem to lead nowhere and bizarre rock formations, in the foreground we see carefully observed and precisely rendered plants and flowers (Syson and Billinge, p. 5).This type of representation of Mary is referred to as the Madonna of Humility (Freke Gandy, p. 34). When it comes to Virgin of the Rocks, the point of interest that reveals the paintings subject are the hands of the people. Mary has her right arm around the infant Saint John the Baptist who is making a gesture of prayer to the Christ child, the Christ child in turn blesses St. John. Mary s left hand hovers protectively over the head of her son while an angel looks out and points to St. John (p. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Descriptive Experience Of Roller Coasters #Roller coasters are mainly recognized for the thrill. When I was younger I was always fascinated by the bright colors that they represented. A variety of rides caught my attention but I was always afraid to get on the highest roller coasters. From what I remember as a child my family and I visited multiple amusement parks such as Six Flags, Knott s Berry Farm and Disneyland. All those ravishing places impacted my curiosity about roller coasters stability. Since I was only an adolescent my curiosity arbitrary sparked on its own it was only until then when I began to think differently. Although I was too afraid to ride the highest roller coasters I was primarily curious about the height, velocity, and thrill excitement. #One of my main concerns of these rollercoasters was the height they all incorporated with each other. It appeared to me like skyscrapers left to right in a threesixty circular motion. These roller coasters were exceedingly high up in the sky something I never understood was who would construct these enormous attractions. I repeatedly questioned the height of these rides while I stared at them continuously trying not to panic every time I looked up. Acrophobia is significantly the fear of height, which I appeared to been having every time I visited an amusement park. My family habitually attempted to give me motivation so my fear of heights wouldn t make me uncomfortable. In addition, one of the countless days I visited the parks I saw a young boy around my ... • 45. A Study On Mcnabs Island Over the past 4 months, I have been extensively studying McNabs Island. From studying elevation, slope, landscape materials, coastal processes, hydrology, climate patterns, slope aspect, as well as vegetation I was able to create a synthesis map of the ideal areas where an environmental education center could possibly be placed on the island without harming the island natural environment and processes. This report includes an analysis of the island, a constraints and opportunities summary, as well as inventory maps, analysis maps, and the final synthesis map. McNabs Island is located south east of Halifax, Nova Scotia within the Halifax harbour. McNabs is surrounded by the Halifax Peninsula and has Lawlor island near its south eastern side. In the past McNabs Island was used by the military as a location for forts such as that of Fort Ives as well as an area for fish processing because of its coastal beaches (Manuel Thompson, 2016). It was also used as an area to live on, particularly by the McNabs family (Manuel Thompson, 2016). In the early 1900 s the Davis family located their soft and alcoholic drink processing facility on the island. McNabs Island has a surface area of 460ha. The elevations on McNabs Island range from 0m to 40m in height. Predominately the areas of higher elevation are where the drumlin hills are located while the lower areas lie between drumlins and around the coastline. McNabs Island has 4 major drumlins (Manuel Thompson, 2016). Because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In conclusion Piggy symbolises a rope because he holds everyone together and supports the group. Ralph symbolises a toolbox because he is useful for many different things.
