Analysis Of The Movie I Didn t Sleep
Rory walked with Valentina back to her mom s house, not that far from the town square. She
contemplated telling her mom and Luke about Jess reemergence, but she didn t know how long he was
staying, or if he was staying at all, so she decided not to say anything. Jess had been right, the air was
crisp tonight and she should ve brought a blanket for her daughter, and a jacket for herself. But she
wouldn t let herself think that Jess was right, what does he know about being a parent, not that she
knew every trick in the book either. Rory got back to the house a few minutes later and carefully took
her sleeping daughter out of her stroller and took her inside to her room. Lorelei had redone Rory s
room when she was away so she could fit a training bed for Valentina. Rory placed Valentina in her
bed and then got ready for bed herself. All night though, she couldn t sleep. She had just seen the man
that she loved for the first time in four years. Why is he back? she thought. Where is he going next?
How will I contact him?. She didn t believe Jess, that he was just here to read. He hated this town with
every inch of his being, he wouldn t have come back if he didn t have a reason. Valentina woke up
early that next morning, much to Rory s disliking. Valentina came in Rory s bed and cuddled up with
her, before starting to jump on the bed. Rory sighed. The jumping on the bed was fun and cute when
she had a full nights sleep, not three hours. Go see if Nana and

Indian Removal Of The Cherokee Indians
They cried, they wept, they grew stronger. It was a story of hope, courage, and survival. This was the
Trail of Tears. Many events led up to the Cherokee s removal. The Indian Removal caused the
Cherokee indians to move west. A man named Major Ridge struck lots of bargains with the United
States. This man, Major Ridge, was one of the native sons, born in 1771, that lived in the Cherokee
territory. The Cherokee s lived in the Christians Eden because they believe their ancestors once lived
in the same area. Throughout Major Ridge s youth years, the Shawnees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, the
Creeks, and the United States endangered the Cherokees. Mr. Ridge and his family watched his town
get burnt down by riflemen due to picking the wrong side during the American Revolution. The
Cherokees watched their world change all around them. The Cherokee population dwindled to 12,000
in 1805, and lost over half their precious land. The United States wanted the Cherokees land, and for
them to move west. The Americans offered a path for them to walk down. The Americans developed a
policy called civilization which taught the Cherokees how to grow wheat; how to eat meals at regular
set times instead of when ever they pleased, how to dress; how to speak English; how to pray in
church at certain set times. The United States wanted all the tribes to be equivalent of their white
neighbors. Thomas Jefferson states that they could be equal to the whites. John Ross was the future
Cherokee chief; he grew

Influence of Romanticism in the Contemporary Shows True...
Imagine a life in the 18th century when a revolution is taking place that exercises freedom, emotional
liberty and importance of oneself. When the Romantic Era hit many individuals were becoming aware
of a movement of intense emotion and became interested in unfamiliar and exotic experiences. Many
of these experiences in which, brought to light a whole new world of darkness and strong emotions
such as apprehension and terror. Romanticism in the 18th century sparked imagination; Imagination
that was perceived as the ultimate power (see reference). Fast forwarding to contemporary culture,
many of these examples of romanticism are seen in shows such as True Blood, American Horror
Story, and Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Violet is a girl that is in touch with her gothic side and is more interested in the mansion than scared of
it. Violet is misunderstood by many but she likes Tate because he understands her. Violet says to Tate I
used to think you were like me. You were attracted to the darkness. But Tate, you are the darkness.
This is when she realizes that he is not among the living like she is. There is a scene where she cannot
withstand the pressures anymore and Tate finds her cutting herself. Tate says You re doing it wrong, if
you re trying to kill yourself you cut vertically, they can t stitch that up . Tate loves Violet, so he does
not mind if she dies because that would mean he can stay with her in the mansion forever. That quote
coming from Tate would surprise anyone who hears it because it s a different and creepy type of love
that Tate feels for Violet because he wishes death upon someone he loves. I believe that Romanticism
is displayed here in the sense that Violet wants emotional liberty and has a special ghost that supports
her through it. Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas portrays a more kid friendly aspect of
Romanticism. The imagination behind this movie is remarkable and paints unfamiliar pictures but
since it is animated it takes away from it being so scary to more funny. A good portion of the movie is
expressed in music and the lyrics to the songs are eye opening to say the least. When Jack leaves his

The Badlands
Quickly pulling over to view the stark landscape, which was similar to being on the moon. I began
driving the Badlands Loop a 40.03 mile road around Badlands National Park, South Dakota. The
scenery did not have the splendor of the Grand Canyon or the natural geysers of Yellowstone.
However, the sandstone formations, surround by the prairie grassland were special. Just after sunrise,
the long theatrical shadows on the water and wind carved features, created an eerie landscape.
Nevertheless, this did not deter a group of bighorn sheep from grazing on the side of the gravel road.
After a brief stop to admire the large towering sandstone formations, I had a great view; high on a

A Documentary By Admiral Vern Essay
Introduction
In a documentary by Admiral Vern (2002), the events of September 11, 2001 tragically illustrated that
the promise of peace and security in the 21st Century is fraught with profound dangers . The US
foreign policies and interest in key geographic regions of the world sparks controversies resulting in
state funded cyber attacks, cyber espionage and terrorism against the United States and its allied
nations. When several attempts to cripple the United States and its allied nations through negotiations
failed, enemy states and nefarious groups have shifted their focus to cyber attacks and cyber
espionage. According to Gady (2016), China continues cyber espionage against the United States .
Drezner (2014), Washington and Beijing hardly agree on everything, but they agree on the big things,
like maintaining an open global economy, reducing the likelihood of a military confrontation, and
tackling climate change .
Following the US and Israeli Stuxnet attack on Iran s Nuclear program in 2010, enemy states have
been targeting some critical infrastructures and federal government agencies. As the US interest in
securing its borders against all threats both domestic and abroad continue to grow, several new threats
and vulnerabilities colossus in its cyberspace. In a recent report by Bhattacharyya (2016), Russian
hackers attacked the State Department email system and the Office of Personnel Management reported
that 5.6 million Americans fingerprints were stolen as

Summary On The Court Decision Decides A Software Patent...
Summary
This Supreme Court decision decides a software patent complaint between Alice Corporation Pty. Ltd.
(Alice) and CLS Bank International et al (CLS Bank). The question in this case asks whether a patent
claiming the use of a fundamental economic principle is eligible for patent because it applies the use
of
a computer.
Procedural History
The petitioner of the case, CLS Bank, has several patents (Nos. 5,970,479, 6,912,510, 7,149,720,
7,725,375) pertaining to the exchange of financial obligations between two parties by using a
computer system as a third party intermediary i.e. escrow. (Alice Corp v. CLS Bank, 13 298 S. Ct. 2
(2013)) The respondent in this case, CLS Bank, is a cash settlement service dealing in the foreign
exchange market. CLS Bank has filed suit against Alice in District Court, claiming the patents are
invalid, unenforceable, or not infringed. After the Supreme Court decided on Bilski v. Kappos, No. 08
964 (2010) both parties filed cross motions in District Court seeking summary judgment as to whether
the asserted claims are eligible for patent. The District Court held that the claims are patent ineligible
because they are directed to an abstract idea. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit
reversed the decision with a divided panel. Their assertion stated that there was no obvious use of an
abstract concept. The Federal Circuit then agreed to hear the claim en banc and vacated the panel s

King David
Introduction King David is known for his characteristics of being a man after God s own heart After
removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ( I have found David son of
Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do. Acts 13:22). It is revelatory
to understand how this text is more widely recognized in it s context than its predecessor. The truth to
Saul s kingship taken from him had a lot to do with God being dissatisfied with him. It also had to do
with his original intended purpose, which was to replace God. Saul struggled to do this to the extent
God needed. Samuel describes the king God needed in 1 Samuel 8:10 22. Saul was only willing to

Pre-literacy and Modern Vestiges
Pre literacy and Modern Vestiges
For many years, the conventions and existence of epic poetry from the pre literate age were explained
as repositories for information. A well known story, usually involving a hero that embodied the virtues
of the society who told the story, engages in battles, quests, etc. As the epic is spoken to an audience,
the hero s actions and the way they are described impart the audience with information and teachings.
The information the listeners received is thought by some to be analogous to a modern day textbook
lesson, in which students learn mathematics, grammar, and law, all by the written word. So is the
contention of Homeric scholar Eric A. Havelock. As Hobart and Schiffman state in Orality and the ...

The specific words sung are more attuned to the metrical nature of the music than they are apt tools
for imparting the singer with specific knowledge about a single battle. The Star Spangled Banner is an
example of modern commemoration. If we were to read it as it was originally written, as a poem, then
we would probably think of it as a series of images describing a naval assault on an American fort, and
as a singular, historical event. The poem s lines would become information. Yet in song form this is
not the case. The point of the song is not for each individual to remember a certain night in American
history; the point is for a group of singers to remember the notion of a nation, more specifically, the
United States.
Hobart and Schiffman theorize that each oral presentation of the Iliad was a different for its audiences
as the situations in which we might hear the national anthem. For instance, we sing the national
anthem at baseball games, but we also heard it after the World Trade Center was attacked on
September 11, 2001; besides being group events, these cases have little in common. The type of
memory that we use when sing the song together is the commemorative type.
Another example describing the differences in the concept of memory that Hobart and Schiffman refer
to can be found in computers. Memory on a computer describes how many tasks a computer can do at

Why Do School Lunches Be Banned From Schools
Today one in five school aged children (ages 6 19) have obesity and people debate over how to
decrease this number and prevent it from being more of an issue in the future. School lunches are
often brought up in this discussion, some say that by getting rid of all junk food in schools would help
decrease the number of obese students and prevent them in future by providing only healthy food
options. On the other hand, they say that it s not that simple, the problems are at home and that getting
rid of these items could decrease revenues for school activities from those products.
Many people believe that junk food should be banned from schools across the nation. In fact, Carol
Duh Leong who was once on the board of Doctors of America found that, a slight reduction of as little
as 100 calories a day, for example from the removal of soda from children s diets could result in
weight loss. By getting rid of soda machines in schools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They say child obesity is not the fault of school lunches, school meals are only consumed once a day,
meaning that the majority of meals are being eating at home and this makes what kids eat the
responsibility of the parents (Metallo). They feel that because more meals are consumed at home, they
effect on their weight is happening at home more than it is at school so it is the fault of the the child s
parents for their unhealthy habits. Another reason why people think they should not need to ban junk
food from schools is, schools that have began to get rid of vending machines have lost thousands of
dollars and found, funding things like athletics and schools activities became increasingly hard to pay
for (Rosenthal). In other words, vending machine revenues are often used for funding school
activities, if they were to be taken out of schools they would cause schools to lose fundings because
the contents of most vending machines are junk

What Is Gandhi s Ethos
Mahatma: A Great Soul
Few names go down in history untarnished. Regardless of religious belief or standard of living, the
purity of Mohandas K. Gandhi cannot be denied. In his work gaining rights for indentured slaves,
spreading non violence, gaining independence from Britain, and developing unity between Hindus and
Muslims, he never failed to prove the strength of his morals. His legacy could not have proceeded if it
weren t for his patience in spreading the message of remaining humble, specifically through his
writings. Throughout his autobiography, The Story of My Experiments with Truth, Gandhi appeals to
the readers pathos and carries across his message of maintaining humility through admitting his
mistakes, never blaming others, and giving all credit to God. Without creating such a pristine character
for himself, he never would have gain such a wide following.
In particular, one s personality cannot be perceived as unpretentious without the admittance of his or
her mistakes. Gandhi often mentions the regrets of his behavior in the past, specifically when it comes
to the treatment of his wife. In page 21, he admits his wrongdoings of controlling his wife, Kasturbai,
as a bondslave rather than a supportive and equal friend. In doing so, he not only gains reader support

Comparing Vietnam And The United States
The world has become more global as time is going through. However, there are still some significant
differences when comparing between developed country and developing country, such as Vietnam and
the United States. While the United States has been developed in many fields (economy, religions,
educational system..), Vietnam is still in transition process. They are located on two different
continents; they have so much difference on religious, languages, and practices although those
distinctions are seemed to get more narrow than before. People are trying to adopt the different
culture, as they still the keep their traditional practices of their own culture. Wedding life, food, and
the educational system are the typical things, which have the similarities and differences at the same
time.
Firstly, the wedding life for couples is significantly different even though it still has some few things
similar. In both countries, the couples will an engagement ceremony before getting to an actual
wedding ceremony. They both will receive wedding rings from their lovers. Also, they will sometime
hold a reception the celebration party in when they share theirs happiness to their friends and
happiness. On the other hand, there are still some contrasts between for the couple before and after the
wedding. In the U.S, the couples are free to choose theirs partners, their parents do not interfere their

The Issei (first generation immigrants) crossed the Pacific Ocean to come to America because there
was a high demand for immigrants cheap labor. The Japanese left everything familiar to them. They
established their own communities of Japanese culture. The Japanese were discriminated and faced
with racial injustice. The Pearl Harbor attack was a spark for more people to hate Japanese living in
the United States. Then the Executive order signed by Roosevelt forced hundreds of Japanese
Americans to leave their homes and go to interment camps because people feared they were spies for
Japan. Most young men wanted to prove their loyalty to America and restore family honor so they

Ransom By David Malouf Analysis
Grief can play with one s mind twisting and manipulating one to not be the same person they used to
be, while grief can also change one for the better. In the book, Ransom, by David Malouf, Hector kills
Achilles friend, Patroclus, so Achilles kills Hector. Priam wants to see his son one last time so he
makes a plan to get to him. Somax takes Priam on a carriage to go find his son Hector. They have
some troubles along the way, but they eventually get to Priam s son. Priam brings Hector back to Troy
and Hector is buried. In Ransom by David Malouf, the author teaches the reader the power of grief
through the experiences of Priam and Achilles. Grief can be a controlling force, it can cause and
individual to change as a person, and grief can strongly influence one s actions. The sorrow from the
loss of a loved can be burdensome and can take a toll on one and their family. Priam explains to
Hecuba, It is eleven days now since Hector s death and we have done nothing, all of us, but weep and
sit stunned with grief (Malouf 50). Priam s family is depressed over the loss of their son Hector. It
controls their emotions and the way they think of their life now, moving on without Hector. While
Priam is talking with Deiphobus, Priam lowers his head. When he raises it again his look is grave but
his eyes, for all the power of emotion in him are dry (Malouf 84). Priam is having a difficult time
coming to terms that Hector is actually gone, so he is overcome with multiple emotions.

Development Stages of a Child
According to Freud, the child develops socially through a series of psychosexual stages e.g. oral, anal,
phallic, latency and genital. The first three psychosexual stages are focused on more as they span the
important first five years in which the id, ego and superego develop. Fixation, when libido (sexual
pleasure drive) is locked into a stage, determines personality and is caused by either frustration or
overindulgence. If a child is fixated in the oral stage for example, as a result of frustration, the adult
will be characterised as envious, pessimistic and sarcastic. Freud believed normal development occurs
when a child does not fixate on a stage. According to Erikson, the child develops socially as they pass
through eight developmental stages, referred to as psychosocial stages, which are each characterised
by a psychological crisis. The psychological crisis must be resolved in each stage before the child can
move on to the next. Each stage also has two possible outcomes e.g. negative or positive and it is
successfully completing each stage that results in a healthy personality and sense of self. Failing to
complete a stage means the ability to complete further stages is reduced and personality and sense of
self can become negative and unhealthy. According to Kohlberg, children develop socially by
developing a sense of right, wrong and justice. There are six stages of moral development which are
divided into 3 categories e.g. premoral and preconventional stages,

Gender In The Film Tangerine
The film Tangerine by Sean S. Baker and Chris Bergoch is a film about two transgender women living
their lives in Hollywood living their lives as sex workers. The film also follows a cab driver, Razmik,
who drives people around the city as well as is a client of the transgender sex workers of Hollywood.
The performance of identity, fronts, and gender are all portrayed in different ways in this film and it s
a fascinating dialogue between what people say and reveal about themselves in order to achieve their
goals. In this paper, I will be looking specifically at Goffman s and Butler s theories and how they
related to the performances in this film.

Gender And Gender Aspects Of Gender In Everyday Life
Gender in Everyday Life
Shyana Burks Diggins
Community College of Aurora
Gender in Everyday Life In today s culture, I see gender being a person s master status. In most
aspects of my life, I notice that gender overrides other statuses such as my race or occupation. I
believe gender does this because of the way it is instilled in every social institution. I imagine it is
hard to inquire about my experiences without it coming from a woman s perspective. It s not what it
means to be college educated, but what does it mean to be a college educated woman, and not what
does it mean to be black, but what does it mean to be a black woman. Parenthood is near impossible to
be understood without seeing it through a gender experience. Although gender is a social construction,
it dictates individuals in a way that I cannot imagine any other social concept could. As I recorded my
actions throughout the day, I realized that there are a lot of them that are dictated by my gender. I
recorded over 50 actions and I am sure that I could have recorded differently depending on the kind of
day. I recorded around 10 15 actions just from the daily aspect of getting ready and clothing. For
example, I thought I chose my clothing depending on how I felt that day, but I realized small things
like my choice of underwear was never of my volition. Depending on the kind of pants I wore, I
wanted to avoid a panty line not only for fashion s sake but because that will affect future interactions
with the other sex. With my experience, I see that men pick the underwear that will suit their comfort
level, like if they want to wear briefs for exercising or boxers for a less active setting. Some of my
actions I instantly knew were gendered, like my application of makeup to uphold a feminine standard
or even the change of inflection of my voice when I talk to customers on the phone. As a woman and a
consumer, I know that when I speak to a representative about an issue I expect empathy. A
representative conveys that through smiling through the phone . Supervisors and trainers at my job
admit that this trait is better accomplished by women because if we sound any other way we sound off
putting and ingenuine. This

How Cellphones Have Become An Important Part Of Our Daily...
Cellphones have become an important part of our daily lives. They connect us to others and have
revolutionized the world we live in from social interaction apps like Tinder to a GPS that will take you
wherever one needs to go. One large competitor growing in this industry is Apple. They have reached
more than 700 million people worldwide with their product, the iPhone (Tofel 2015): a milestone that
may not have been possible without mastering the art of the global supply chain. The path to the
creation of the iPhone is not as simple as the phone itself. It requires many pieces which all do not
easily come from the same place. Professor Rivoli s book Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy
spoke of the line between passion and reason. Through passion an iPhone was created but at what cost
or for what reason? This is about the path taken to create a product that over 700 million people
marvel about.
For Apple, the iPhone starts on the drawing boards of engineers in California. It initially started in
2007 as a phone well ahead others in technology. But what separated the iPhone from competition was
its design characteristics of simplicity, functionality, and sleek design. Today we are on the 6th
generation of the popular device. Not too much has drastically changed from the original design,
primarily technology tweaks to improve its performance. Once new modifications have been
completed, the plans are sent to Foxconn and Pegatron to be assembled in China (Rudy Media 2014).

Despite the Chrysler Bailout and Challenger Disaster being distinct situations, both required a
judgmental decision making approach. The lack of this approach in the Challenger disaster could be
attributed to the fact that the face of failure was invisible to the decision makers compared to the

and effective decision was not implemented their existence would be short lived. The highest level of

Arguments Against Dna Testing
Discussion #3
DNA testing has been around for many years. DNA testing was first used to determine paternity
(Schwartz 2016). Today, DNA is not only used in paternity cases, but it is also used in criminal justice.
DNA in the criminal justice was first used in 1986 in the United Kingdom. Dr. Alec J. Jeffreys was
accused for two rape murders and later proven innocent by DNA testing (The Malaysian Journal of
Medical Sciences, 2003). Even if this method is reliable most of the time, there are times where the
DNA expert might make a mistake, might be rigged or there might be an unknown bias.
Unfortunately, because of this innocent individual are wrongfully accused of a crime they did not
commit. Dr. Itel Dror wanted to test this theory. In a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dror believes that fingerprints are a reliable forensic evidence in today s trials. He also believes that
fingerprints are more reliable than eyewitness testimonies. However, since fingerprints are identified
by very highly skilled professional, they are still humans and mistakes can in fact happen either
honestly or intentionally. He also stated that in most cases, fingerprint evidence has been more reliable
and can be important in order to prove someone s innocence or find a criminal. I personally, agree
with Dr. Dror s opinion on fingerprint evidence being more reliable than eyewitness testimony. Like
he stated on the video, the mind is not like a camera. It does not take a video which we can later see
and quickly catch the person responsible for a crime. Another reason of why I agree with Dr.Dror s, is
because the mind is very easy to trick. Memories can be altered just by discussing the subject with
someone else, either someone involved in the crime or by being asked leading questions by
authorities. Statistics show that 70% of wrongful convictions caused by eyewitness testimony are
overturned by DNA testing. (Innocence project, nd). As Dr. Dror said, the DNA expert might make
some mistakes, DNA testing is still better and more reliable than eyewitness

Urbanization, meaning the increase in the proportion of the total population living in urban areas, has

United Nations released the report about the urban agglomerations in the world again in 2009, the
ranking has been totally different: the largest cities in the world is still in First World Tokyo, but the
second has been Delhi in India while the third Sao Paulo in Brazil. Only four in the first 15th largest

suburbanization or even counterurbanization.
In fact, population growth in rural areas has continued to rise over recent decades in advanced nations
such as Britain, Canada and Australia. (Pacione) Such a trend is mainly due to the push factors urban

My Childhood Memories Of My Family
Beginnings I was born on June 13, 2005, in Peoria IL. I have five family members. My dad s name is
Mike, my mom s name is Amber, my brother s name is Andrew, and my twin sister s names are Macy
and Mariah. I currently live in Goodfield, Il, in a subdivision called Lakes at Oak Valley. We live by a
big pond that is great for fishing and swimming. We have hosted many big events at my house and it
is perfect for family get togethers or swim parties. For my family vacations, I have been to the
following places/states: Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Alabama, Connecticut, Oregon,
Canada, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, Haiti, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Kansas,
Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Michigan. I have had many childhood memories, but my favorite
is probably a vacation whenever I went on the longest road in the U.S. It goes from Chicago to Los
Angeles. The road is called Route 66. We drove on most of it but near the end we headed toward
California and went camping in Sequoia National Park. We camped with some friends and even saw a
bear trying to eat some of our food. I always have a great relationship with all of my family members
and I can always count on them for help.
Obstacles
I haven t had too many obstacles throughout my life until recently. Just recently I found out that me
and my family are moving to California this summer and that was a big shock. I have had some of my
friends move away, but I have never actually

Comparing The Narcissistics Of A Machiavellian Leader
The narcissistic leader is one who is only interested in himself and puts his interest. He exercises
supremacy, arrogance and hostility in his governance. He considers himself self reliant and is unable
to take criticism hence those who dare to voice negative opinion are dealt with quite abrasively. This
leader has a great desire to be admired coupled with a gift of attracting followers. He is also ruthlessly
competitive and can do whatever it takes to win as he relents in quest of victory. The Machiavellian
leader is characterized by a duplicitous and cunning leadership style. He has a great focus on self
interest and a skeptical disregard for morality. Examples of narcissistic leaders include: Alexander the

The Breakdown Of The Traditional Family Division Of...
During the late 20th century, the world has witnessed all sorts of social and technological changes due
to globalisation (Bologun, Sutherland and Oswick, 2015). In fact, the breakdown of the traditional
family division of labour, instant communication through technology, and the increased complexity of
organisational objectives have favour gender equality and diversity. Those changes have pressure
companies to improve their work structure to be more competitive and to the extent that the idea of an
effective leadership has come under pressure to change too. Indeed, organisations have become less
hierarchical and more decentralised networks where the traditional source of power erode, and talents
instead of nepotism are rewarded (Klein, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They found out that female and male leaders have equal concern for the task. However, women
manifest more concern for an interpersonal relationship than men (Eagly and Johannesen‐Schmidt,
2001). Moreover, using Blake and Mouton (1964) framework, women show a more democratic (or
participative) style, which facilitates collaboration, and less autocratic (or directive) style, that don t
enhance followers creativity. Thus, according to the contemporary standard, women manifested more
appropriate traits for being an effective leader.
Furthermore, Eagly and Carli (2003) also conclude that female leader were more transformational and
applied contingent reward behaviours which is one of transactional leadership component. Conversely,
male leaders were more likely to involve two other aspects of transactional leadership which are active
management by exception (waiting for a follower s mistake to corrected it) and passive management
by exception (waiting for issues to become severe before solving it). Men also show a relatively high
interest in laissez faire leadership. That different categorization of leadership style became popular by
Burns in 1978 and then Bass in 1985. Transformational leadership intellectually stimulate and inspire

Concierge Medical Care
Introduction Incentive of contemporary concierge healthcare practice is to offer consumers care that is
personalized, direct, of good quality, and affordable. Concierge type practices usually involving one or
a small number of physicians accept only a limited number of patients who pay an annual fee in
addition to the cost of care provided (Thomas, R. K., 2015, pg. 302). In principle, when a consumer
acquires concierge services, they are paying for around the clock care. The physician or physicians
available to the consumers are technically on regular call for the patients enrolled with their services.
For the purpose of this assignment, I will be discussing marketing strategies, contributions, and
challenges in reference to concierge medical care for underserved and indigent populations in the area.
Discuss some of the goods or services that could be highlighted in a marketing campaign that involves
a concierge practice of medicine.

Cause And Effect Of Stress
Stress plays a prominent role in one s daily life. Thus, it is important to identify stress and learn to
reduce and cope with stress in order to prevent stress related illnesses that may occur. Stress has a
major influence upon one s health, thinking, behavior, and mood. Stress is commonly mistaken for
generally evoking negative associations; however, it is actually part of the human experience that
places pressure on people so that they may be able to perform at a higher level achievement.
Nonetheless, when stress becomes too much to handle, or becomes chronic, it can affect an individual
physically, mentally, behaviorally, and emotionally. What is stress? According to Debra L. Nelson and
James C. Quick, in Organizational Behavior, Stress, or the stress response, can be described as the
unconscious preparation to fight or flee that a person experiences when faced with any demand (103).
When an individual is stressed, the body thinks it is under attack, releasing chemical messengers and
hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to prepare the body for physical action. Through the release
of hormones, it enables a person to quickly respond to fight or flight. For example, a group of
explorers are in the Amazon rainforest, and they come across a jaguar; this sends a signal to the
individuals that a threat has approached, and sends information to their body giving them the fight or
flight ability. Furthermore, stress can be classified into two different branches: internal and external.
Internal is the ability to send messages and waves throughout our body, resulting in the release of
chemicals and hormones. On the other hand, external is the ability to sweat, blush, itch, or anything
that physically affects a person. Both of these factors control one s entire bodily function of stress.
Stress can be both positive and negative, and can impact how one interact and function on a daily
basis. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations, however a little stress
can actually be good for a person. Accordingly, when the body experiences a stressor, its fight or flight
response kicks in as a way to protect oneself by staying focused, alert, and allowing one the extra
energy he or she need

Skeletal System Informative Speech
Have you ever wondered whats in your body? well i m here to tell you about the skeletal system that
every human being haves, and if you don t have one something is wrong which i highly doubt if thats
true. The skeletal system is a very important part of our body ,it helps us move through the day.
Without that we wouldn t be here because without that our body would shutdown and we would
become weak.
The skeletal system haves 6 primary functions. which includes support, protection, movement,
mineral homeostasis, blood cell protection, and storage. All of these functions are a big part of our
body and are helping us out even if we don t know they are. The support function provides structural
support for the entire body. The mineral homeostasis stores calcium and phosphorus. The blood cell
production is the red bone marrow which produces red and white blood cells and other elements. My
favorite function is protection because it provides soft tissue around the heart, lungs, ribs, and most
importantly the brain. Another one of my favorites is movement , because i like to move and i m a

Gay Marriage Vs Same Sex Marriage
Since before the public ratified the Constitution and adopting the Bill of Rights and even prior to
Marbury v. Madison establishing the doctrine of judicial review, the clergy solemnization power
existed as an embedded feature of this nation s marriage traditions. The power both allows
Solemnization laws grant officials near unbridled discretion within the statutory limitations in
deciding who they will perform marriage ceremony, and to ministers who perform religious marriages
to marry couples legally under the civil law. Also, the Fourteenth Amendment recognizes same sex
marriage in all 50 States; It described marriage as a purely secular institution, which serves
governmental interests. In the light of, Justice Kennedy highlighted that religious organizations can
advocate base on the belief that same sex marriage should not be condoned (Horwitz, P. 2014).
Justice Kennedy stated that many who deem same sex marriage to be wrong reach that conclusion
based on decent and honorable religious or philosophical premises, and neither they nor their beliefs
are disparaged here. But when that sincere, personal opposition becomes enacted law and public
policy, the necessary consequence is to put the imprimatur of the State itself on an exclusion that soon
demeans or stigmatizes those whose own liberty is then denied. Under the Constitution, same sex
couples seek in marriage the same legal treatment as opposite sex couples, and it would disparage
their choices and diminish their

Informative Essay On Bed Bugs
Does My Bed Have Bed Bugs?
Bed bugs are small insects that take up residence in soft furnishings, particularly mattresses. Bed bugs
feed on the blood of warm blooded animals, and human hosts can suffer an allergic reaction. If you
suspect that you have bed bugs in your home, it is crucial that you find and eradicate them before they
reproduce and spread.
What are bed bugs
Bed bugs are small, non flying insects that feed exclusively on the blood of warm blooded animals
making humans the perfect hosts. Most bed bugs will feed while their host is asleep. While feeding,
the bed bug will inject a small amount of saliva into the host s skin. Hosts can develop a sensitivity to
bed bug saliva over time, and this can eventually result in an intense allergic reaction. Bed bugs feed
every five to ten days, and a well fed bug can live for six to nine months. However, bed bugs can
survive in a dormant state for over a year without food. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, bed bugs can also move between apartments through holes in walls and through pipes or
tubes that are shared.
Signs of bed bugs
The first sign of bed bugs is usually a bite. A bed bug bite can take between a couple of hours and two
weeks to appear. Unlike flea bites, these bites do not have a red centre, and will usually appear in a
row of two or three. Bites can become red and swollen, and may be itchy. Although bites do not
require medical treatment, steroid creams and oral anti histamines can alleviate symptoms.
Adult bed bugs, hatchlings and eggs are all visible to the naked eye. Adult bed bugs are about 5mm to
7mm long, range in colour from white to orangey brown, and are oval and flat in shape. A female lays
about five eggs a day. These milky white eggs take about two weeks to hatch, and the newborns,
called hatchlings, are about the size of a poppy

and details who the audience is to be. He explains that he rarely answers criticisms and gives his
reasons for answering this particular one. This grabs the reader s attention in the first three sentences

Among the quoted who all said something in the favor of justice are Socrates, St. Thomas Aquinas,
Martin Buber, and Paul Tillich. To condone his label as an extremist, King listed other extremists:
Jesus as an extremist of love, Amos an extremist of justice, Paul an extremist of the Gospel, Martin
Luther, John Bunyan, and Abraham Lincoln, all highly respected people who gave everything for what
they believed in. King uses this to help his cause be seen in the light of Jesus mission of Christianity
and Abraham Lincoln s quest for the end of slavery. King also presents other examples of those who
struggled with oppression, such as the Jewish in Hitler s Germany, the early Christians, and subjects of
Nebuchhadnezzar. The use of examples of other people helps the reader see that King is not alone in
his thoughts and ideas. Eloquent and logical explanations are one of King s strengths. In the twenty
second paragraph, King again uses logical appeal. He states that, In your statement you asserted that
our actions, even though peaceful, must be condemned because they precipitate violence. But can this
assertion be logically made? Isn t this like condemning the robbed man because his possession of
money precipitated the evil act of robbery? This statement is a direct logical appeal to the readers and
by using the example of a man robbed of his money places the situation on the reader s level rather
than on the level of the

A Brief Note On The Health Care Provider
There is a critical situation that we are faced with today. We must dissect all the information and
evidence in order to help the patient and her family through a tough decision. This is the current
situation, L.D. a 39 year old woman was admitted to the hospital and the health care provider noticed
that L.D. has a rare illness called Arteriovenous malformation (AVM). AVM is an abnormal
connection between arteries and veins bypassing the capillary system. They typically consist of two or
more feeding arteries, a knot of abnormal vessels referred to as the nidus , and one or more veins
(Machet, et al., 2012). The health care provider considered L.D. condition to be an emergency because
she was hemorrhaging, so the health care provider ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem with AVM is considered to be critical. The treatment goal was not clearly stated, but it
seems as if it is neurosurgical process that was preformed left her with severe neurological damage.
There are four treatment options that should be recommended to help with the patient current
condition, and these are microsurgical removal, endovascular embolization, intravascular embolization
and radiosurgical. In microsurgical removal, a microscope is used to assist the surgeon with removing
the AVM from surrounding brain tissue. Endovascular involve the doctor inserting a long, thin tube
into the patient leg artery and threads it through blood vessels to the patient brain using X ray imaging.
This tube allows the doctor to inject an embolizing agent, which may include a glue like substance or
other materials, to block the artery and reduce blood flow into the AVM. The radiosurgical procedure
includes the use of radiation to destroy the AVM (Rispoli, Di Chirico, Sibille, Carletti, 2013). Each of
these treatments should be carefully evaluated with a patient that is pregnant. Since L.D. has
hemorrhage on the brain, cerebral angiography should be performed because it can be safe for her
unborn child. Cerebral angiography reveals important details about the AVM such as location, size,
feeding arteries, and drainage. The fetus is rarely affected by the material that is used during testing if
the fetus is shielded

The Meaning Of Love, By John Clare
This poem was written by John Clare, an English poet. This poem is about love and he used the nature
to describe love because many poems of John Clare was about rural life and scenery. This poem will
present the love that is secret love. There are three stanzas, twenty four lines and eight lines in each
stanza. In the first stanza, in the line 1 2, when the speaker was young, he fell in love with a woman
and he kept his love all along. He never told her. The word buzzing of fly was like a sound of his heart
that was always loud in his heart and he cloud not control it. It was like he could not keep this secret
love. In the line 3 5, he did not dare to gaze her face. He felt that it had something in his mind that
made him could not dare to see her face like he had sin that was dark and could not touch the light.

word buzzing (line 2 in first stanza). In the first stanza the buzzing of fly was the sound of his heart,
but in the third stanza the sound of his heart was louder than first stanza because the line 20 said that
the fly s bass turned a lion s roar. It means that it was hard to hide his love and could not keep his love

  • 2. Analysis Of The Movie I Didn t Sleep Rory walked with Valentina back to her mom s house, not that far from the town square. She contemplated telling her mom and Luke about Jess reemergence, but she didn t know how long he was staying, or if he was staying at all, so she decided not to say anything. Jess had been right, the air was crisp tonight and she should ve brought a blanket for her daughter, and a jacket for herself. But she wouldn t let herself think that Jess was right, what does he know about being a parent, not that she knew every trick in the book either. Rory got back to the house a few minutes later and carefully took her sleeping daughter out of her stroller and took her inside to her room. Lorelei had redone Rory s room when she was away so she could fit a training bed for Valentina. Rory placed Valentina in her bed and then got ready for bed herself. All night though, she couldn t sleep. She had just seen the man that she loved for the first time in four years. Why is he back? she thought. Where is he going next? How will I contact him?. She didn t believe Jess, that he was just here to read. He hated this town with every inch of his being, he wouldn t have come back if he didn t have a reason. Valentina woke up early that next morning, much to Rory s disliking. Valentina came in Rory s bed and cuddled up with her, before starting to jump on the bed. Rory sighed. The jumping on the bed was fun and cute when she had a full nights sleep, not three hours. Go see if Nana and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Indian Removal Of The Cherokee Indians They cried, they wept, they grew stronger. It was a story of hope, courage, and survival. This was the Trail of Tears. Many events led up to the Cherokee s removal. The Indian Removal caused the Cherokee indians to move west. A man named Major Ridge struck lots of bargains with the United States. This man, Major Ridge, was one of the native sons, born in 1771, that lived in the Cherokee territory. The Cherokee s lived in the Christians Eden because they believe their ancestors once lived in the same area. Throughout Major Ridge s youth years, the Shawnees, Choctaws, Chickasaws, the Creeks, and the United States endangered the Cherokees. Mr. Ridge and his family watched his town get burnt down by riflemen due to picking the wrong side during the American Revolution. The Cherokees watched their world change all around them. The Cherokee population dwindled to 12,000 in 1805, and lost over half their precious land. The United States wanted the Cherokees land, and for them to move west. The Americans offered a path for them to walk down. The Americans developed a policy called civilization which taught the Cherokees how to grow wheat; how to eat meals at regular set times instead of when ever they pleased, how to dress; how to speak English; how to pray in church at certain set times. The United States wanted all the tribes to be equivalent of their white neighbors. Thomas Jefferson states that they could be equal to the whites. John Ross was the future Cherokee chief; he grew ... • 4. Influence of Romanticism in the Contemporary Shows True... Imagine a life in the 18th century when a revolution is taking place that exercises freedom, emotional liberty and importance of oneself. When the Romantic Era hit many individuals were becoming aware of a movement of intense emotion and became interested in unfamiliar and exotic experiences. Many of these experiences in which, brought to light a whole new world of darkness and strong emotions such as apprehension and terror. Romanticism in the 18th century sparked imagination; Imagination that was perceived as the ultimate power (see reference). Fast forwarding to contemporary culture, many of these examples of romanticism are seen in shows such as True Blood, American Horror Story, and Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Violet is a girl that is in touch with her gothic side and is more interested in the mansion than scared of it. Violet is misunderstood by many but she likes Tate because he understands her. Violet says to Tate I used to think you were like me. You were attracted to the darkness. But Tate, you are the darkness. This is when she realizes that he is not among the living like she is. There is a scene where she cannot withstand the pressures anymore and Tate finds her cutting herself. Tate says You re doing it wrong, if you re trying to kill yourself you cut vertically, they can t stitch that up . Tate loves Violet, so he does not mind if she dies because that would mean he can stay with her in the mansion forever. That quote coming from Tate would surprise anyone who hears it because it s a different and creepy type of love that Tate feels for Violet because he wishes death upon someone he loves. I believe that Romanticism is displayed here in the sense that Violet wants emotional liberty and has a special ghost that supports her through it. Tim Burton s The Nightmare Before Christmas portrays a more kid friendly aspect of Romanticism. The imagination behind this movie is remarkable and paints unfamiliar pictures but since it is animated it takes away from it being so scary to more funny. A good portion of the movie is expressed in music and the lyrics to the songs are eye opening to say the least. When Jack leaves his Halloween ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I began driving the Badlands Loop a 40.03 mile road around Badlands National Park, South Dakota. The scenery did not have the splendor of the Grand Canyon or the natural geysers of Yellowstone. However, the sandstone formations, surround by the prairie grassland were special. Just after sunrise, the long theatrical shadows on the water and wind carved features, created an eerie landscape. Nevertheless, this did not deter a group of bighorn sheep from grazing on the side of the gravel road. • 6. A Documentary By Admiral Vern Essay Introduction In a documentary by Admiral Vern (2002), the events of September 11, 2001 tragically illustrated that the promise of peace and security in the 21st Century is fraught with profound dangers . The US foreign policies and interest in key geographic regions of the world sparks controversies resulting in state funded cyber attacks, cyber espionage and terrorism against the United States and its allied nations. When several attempts to cripple the United States and its allied nations through negotiations failed, enemy states and nefarious groups have shifted their focus to cyber attacks and cyber espionage. According to Gady (2016), China continues cyber espionage against the United States . Drezner (2014), Washington and Beijing hardly agree on everything, but they agree on the big things, like maintaining an open global economy, reducing the likelihood of a military confrontation, and tackling climate change . Following the US and Israeli Stuxnet attack on Iran s Nuclear program in 2010, enemy states have been targeting some critical infrastructures and federal government agencies. As the US interest in securing its borders against all threats both domestic and abroad continue to grow, several new threats and vulnerabilities colossus in its cyberspace. • 7. Summary On The Court Decision Decides A Software Patent... Summary This Supreme Court decision decides a software patent complaint between Alice Corporation Pty. Ltd. (Alice) and CLS Bank International et al (CLS Bank). The question in this case asks whether a patent claiming the use of a fundamental economic principle is eligible for patent because it applies the use of a computer. Procedural History The petitioner of the case, CLS Bank, has several patents (Nos. 5,970,479, 6,912,510, 7,149,720, 7,725,375) pertaining to the exchange of financial obligations between two parties by using a computer system as a third party intermediary i.e. escrow. (Alice Corp v. CLS Bank, 13 298 S. Ct. 2 (2013)) The respondent in this case, CLS Bank, is a cash settlement service dealing in the foreign exchange market. CLS Bank has filed suit against Alice in District Court, claiming the patents are invalid, unenforceable, or not infringed. After the Supreme Court decided on Bilski v. Kappos, No. 08 964 (2010) both parties filed cross motions in District Court seeking summary judgment as to whether the asserted claims are eligible for patent. The District Court held that the claims are patent ineligible because they are directed to an abstract idea. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed the decision with a divided panel. Their assertion stated that there was no obvious use of an abstract concept. The Federal Circuit then agreed to hear the claim en banc and vacated the panel s 1 opinion

God testified concerning him: ( I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do. Acts 13:22). It is revelatory to understand how this text is more widely recognized in it s context than its predecessor. The truth to Saul s kingship taken from him had a lot to do with God being dissatisfied with him. It also had to do with his original intended purpose, which was to replace God. Saul struggled to do this to the extent God needed. Samuel describes the king God needed in 1 Samuel 8:10 22. Saul was only willing to half heartedly commit the atrocities of ... • 10. Pre-literacy and Modern Vestiges Pre literacy and Modern Vestiges For many years, the conventions and existence of epic poetry from the pre literate age were explained as repositories for information. A well known story, usually involving a hero that embodied the virtues of the society who told the story, engages in battles, quests, etc. As the epic is spoken to an audience, the hero s actions and the way they are described impart the audience with information and teachings. The information the listeners received is thought by some to be analogous to a modern day textbook lesson, in which students learn mathematics, grammar, and law, all by the written word. So is the contention of Homeric scholar Eric A. Havelock. As Hobart and Schiffman state in Orality and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The specific words sung are more attuned to the metrical nature of the music than they are apt tools for imparting the singer with specific knowledge about a single battle. The Star Spangled Banner is an example of modern commemoration. If we were to read it as it was originally written, as a poem, then we would probably think of it as a series of images describing a naval assault on an American fort, and as a singular, historical event. The poem s lines would become information. Yet in song form this is not the case. The point of the song is not for each individual to remember a certain night in American history; the point is for a group of singers to remember the notion of a nation, more specifically, the United States. Hobart and Schiffman theorize that each oral presentation of the Iliad was a different for its audiences as the situations in which we might hear the national anthem. For instance, we sing the national anthem at baseball games, but we also heard it after the World Trade Center was attacked on September 11, 2001; besides being group events, these cases have little in common. The type of memory that we use when sing the song together is the commemorative type. Another example describing the differences in the concept of memory that Hobart and Schiffman refer to can be found in computers. • 11. Why Do School Lunches Be Banned From Schools Today one in five school aged children (ages 6 19) have obesity and people debate over how to decrease this number and prevent it from being more of an issue in the future. School lunches are often brought up in this discussion, some say that by getting rid of all junk food in schools would help decrease the number of obese students and prevent them in future by providing only healthy food options. On the other hand, they say that it s not that simple, the problems are at home and that getting rid of these items could decrease revenues for school activities from those products. Many people believe that junk food should be banned from schools across the nation. In fact, Carol Duh Leong who was once on the board of Doctors of America found that, a slight reduction of as little as 100 calories a day, for example from the removal of soda from children s diets could result in weight loss. Another reason why people think they should not need to ban junk food from schools is, schools that have began to get rid of vending machines have lost thousands of dollars and found, funding things like athletics and schools activities became increasingly hard to pay for (Rosenthal). In other words, vending machine revenues are often used for funding school activities, if they were to be taken out of schools they would cause schools to lose fundings because the contents of most vending machines are junk ... In the book, Ransom, by David Malouf, Hector kills Achilles friend, Patroclus, so Achilles kills Hector. Priam wants to see his son one last time so he makes a plan to get to him. Somax takes Priam on a carriage to go find his son Hector. They have some troubles along the way, but they eventually get to Priam s son. Priam brings Hector back to Troy and Hector is buried. In Ransom by David Malouf, the author teaches the reader the power of grief through the experiences of Priam and Achilles. Grief can be a controlling force, it can cause and individual to change as a person, and grief can strongly influence one s actions. The sorrow from the loss of a loved can be burdensome and can take a toll on one and their family. Priam explains to Hecuba, It is eleven days now since Hector s death and we have done nothing, all of us, but weep and sit stunned with grief (Malouf 50). Priam s family is depressed over the loss of their son Hector. It controls their emotions and the way they think of their life now, moving on without Hector. While Priam is talking with Deiphobus, Priam lowers his head. When he raises it again his look is grave but his eyes, for all the power of emotion in him are dry (Malouf 84). • 16. Development Stages of a Child According to Freud, the child develops socially through a series of psychosexual stages e.g. oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. The first three psychosexual stages are focused on more as they span the important first five years in which the id, ego and superego develop. Fixation, when libido (sexual pleasure drive) is locked into a stage, determines personality and is caused by either frustration or overindulgence. If a child is fixated in the oral stage for example, as a result of frustration, the adult will be characterised as envious, pessimistic and sarcastic. Freud believed normal development occurs when a child does not fixate on a stage. According to Erikson, the child develops socially as they pass through eight developmental stages, referred to as psychosocial stages, which are each characterised by a psychological crisis. The psychological crisis must be resolved in each stage before the child can move on to the next. Each stage also has two possible outcomes e.g. negative or positive and it is successfully completing each stage that results in a healthy personality and sense of self. Failing to complete a stage means the ability to complete further stages is reduced and personality and sense of self can become negative and unhealthy. According to Kohlberg, children develop socially by developing a sense of right, wrong and justice. • 19. Gender And Gender Aspects Of Gender In Everyday Life Gender in Everyday Life Shyana Burks Diggins Community College of Aurora Gender in Everyday Life In today s culture, I see gender being a person s master status. In most aspects of my life, I notice that gender overrides other statuses such as my race or occupation. I believe gender does this because of the way it is instilled in every social institution. I imagine it is hard to inquire about my experiences without it coming from a woman s perspective. It s not what it means to be college educated, but what does it mean to be a college educated woman, and not what does it mean to be black, but what does it mean to be a black woman. Parenthood is near impossible to be understood without seeing it through a gender experience. Although gender is a social construction, it dictates individuals in a way that I cannot imagine any other social concept could. As I recorded my actions throughout the day, I realized that there are a lot of them that are dictated by my gender. I recorded over 50 actions and I am sure that I could have recorded differently depending on the kind of day. I recorded around 10 15 actions just from the daily aspect of getting ready and clothing. For example, I thought I chose my clothing depending on how I felt that day, but I realized small things like my choice of underwear was never of my volition. Depending on the kind of pants I wore, I wanted to avoid a panty line not only for fashion s sake but because that will affect future interactions with the other sex. With my experience, I see that men pick the underwear that will suit their comfort level, like if they want to wear briefs for exercising or boxers for a less active setting. Some of my actions I instantly knew were gendered, like my application of makeup to uphold a feminine standard or even the change of inflection of my voice when I talk to customers on the phone. As a woman and a consumer, I know that when I speak to a representative about an issue I expect empathy. A representative conveys that through smiling through the phone . They have reached more than 700 million people worldwide with their product, the iPhone (Tofel 2015): a milestone that may not have been possible without mastering the art of the global supply chain. The path to the creation of the iPhone is not as simple as the phone itself. It requires many pieces which all do not easily come from the same place. Professor Rivoli s book Travels of a T Shirt in the Global Economy spoke of the line between passion and reason. Through passion an iPhone was created but at what cost or for what reason? This is about the path taken to create a product that over 700 million people marvel about. For Apple, the iPhone starts on the drawing boards of engineers in California. It initially started in 2007 as a phone well ahead others in technology. But what separated the iPhone from competition was its design characteristics of simplicity, functionality, and sleek design. Today we are on the 6th generation of the popular device. Not too much has drastically changed from the original design, primarily technology tweaks to improve its performance. Once new modifications have been completed, the plans are sent to Foxconn and Pegatron to be assembled in China (Rudy Media 2014). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Arguments Against Dna Testing Discussion #3 DNA testing has been around for many years. DNA testing was first used to determine paternity (Schwartz 2016). Today, DNA is not only used in paternity cases, but it is also used in criminal justice. DNA in the criminal justice was first used in 1986 in the United Kingdom. Dr. Alec J. Jeffreys was accused for two rape murders and later proven innocent by DNA testing (The Malaysian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2003). Even if this method is reliable most of the time, there are times where the DNA expert might make a mistake, might be rigged or there might be an unknown bias. However, since fingerprints are identified by very highly skilled professional, they are still humans and mistakes can in fact happen either honestly or intentionally. He also stated that in most cases, fingerprint evidence has been more reliable and can be important in order to prove someone s innocence or find a criminal. I personally, agree with Dr. Dror s opinion on fingerprint evidence being more reliable than eyewitness testimony. Like he stated on the video, the mind is not like a camera. It does not take a video which we can later see and quickly catch the person responsible for a crime. Another reason of why I agree with Dr.Dror s, is because the mind is very easy to trick. Memories can be altered just by discussing the subject with someone else, either someone involved in the crime or by being asked leading questions by authorities. Statistics show that 70% of wrongful convictions caused by eyewitness testimony are overturned by DNA testing. (Innocence project, nd). • 30. Cause And Effect Of Stress Stress plays a prominent role in one s daily life. Thus, it is important to identify stress and learn to reduce and cope with stress in order to prevent stress related illnesses that may occur. Stress has a major influence upon one s health, thinking, behavior, and mood. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations; however, it is actually part of the human experience that places pressure on people so that they may be able to perform at a higher level achievement. Nonetheless, when stress becomes too much to handle, or becomes chronic, it can affect an individual physically, mentally, behaviorally, and emotionally. What is stress? According to Debra L. Nelson and James C. Quick, in Organizational Behavior, Stress, or the stress response, can be described as the unconscious preparation to fight or flee that a person experiences when faced with any demand (103). When an individual is stressed, the body thinks it is under attack, releasing chemical messengers and hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol to prepare the body for physical action. Through the release of hormones, it enables a person to quickly respond to fight or flight. For example, a group of explorers are in the Amazon rainforest, and they come across a jaguar; this sends a signal to the individuals that a threat has approached, and sends information to their body giving them the fight or flight ability. Furthermore, stress can be classified into two different branches: internal and external. Internal is the ability to send messages and waves throughout our body, resulting in the release of chemicals and hormones. On the other hand, external is the ability to sweat, blush, itch, or anything that physically affects a person. Both of these factors control one s entire bodily function of stress. Stress can be both positive and negative, and can impact how one interact and function on a daily basis. Stress is commonly mistaken for generally evoking negative associations, however a little stress can actually be good for a person. Accordingly, when the body experiences a stressor, its fight or flight response kicks in as a way to protect oneself by staying focused, alert, and allowing one the extra energy he or she need ...
