The Life Of The 1950 S Essay
The 1950 s were considered to be a time where life was full of bliss, who wouldn t want to be
untroubled? Life in the 1950 s was simple and structured, and now it seems as though the Happy days
have disappeared. The 1950 s are considered The Happy Days because life was so well put together
back then and now, it seems, it has all fallen apart. The 1950 TV shows, like Leave it to Beaver, has
the American society believing that life was perfect . Seeing the shows makes one imagine that the
family life was splendid, the style was flawless and modest, everyone got along, neighbors were
friendly, and that the changes happening were for the best. In a way that was very true. People in the
society knew their place; In a typical 1950 s family, the father and mother had specific roles they had
to fulfill, and even the children had certain responsibilities. The men were the head of the household
and usually worked to provide for the family. The women of the 1950 s society were stay at home
moms, occasionally working a job as teachers or nurses. Men and women of that time were well
mannered, clean, and classy. When the man and woman walked down the street, the man would walk
on the outside or the road side to protect the woman from traffic. Men would also tip there hats as a
kind gesture when they walked past a woman. Life just seemed to be in place in the 1950 s, yes, it
wasn t perfect, but it seemed much more put together than what society is like now. The man of the

Narrative Essay About A Beautiful Girl
High School is already hard enough, with heavy loads of school work, bullies, teachers that don t care,
and learning how to handle teenage mood swings, and Ethan had to deal with all of these and didn t
take it very well. Ethan is a depressed 18 year old boy, who excluded himself from everyone, always
wore black, came from a poor family and was known as the freak at school. While he sat alone at the
lunch tables, he would be the one kid to get food thrown at him by the jocks. Ethan did not fit in at his
high school at all, and neither did he feel comfortable in his own home. He was abused by his father
while his mother wasn t in the family anymore, for she had left when he was just 4 years old. When he

He saw her getting her lunch from the lunch line and like every day, she looks at him with the
brightest smile that would shame the sun. Once she sat down, he got up, and started walking to her
while holding the roses behind him. Ethan doesn t know if his heart was beating so loud that he couldn
t hear anybody or if the room was the silent because people couldn t believe their eyes. He then got to
her table, showed her the flowers and asked her to go to Prom with him. Karla, with big dreamy eyes,
starred at him and as she was about to say something, someone throw food at him from across the
room. Everyone laughed, and out of embarrassment, Ethan ran as fast as he could to the restroom, and
Karla followed. As Ethan was in the restroom, he whipped the food off of his black hoodie, and after
that he walked out to find himself standing in front of the girl of his dreams. She smiled and said yes
to his proposal. Ethan looked into her eyes and smiled back at her which is something he has never
done before. She then placed her hands on his hoodie and took it off, and even though she had noticed
a bruise, she didn t say anything or freaked out about it like others would. She then smiled and said
pick me up at my house by 7 and as she walked away, the butterflies in his stomach came up again,
stronger than ever.

James Joyce The Dead
James Joyce Jame Joyce in his short story, The Dead written in 1914, during the modern period is one
of his most popular written short story. In the modern period Ernest Rutherford discovered protons in

Spina Bifida Research Paper
Spina Bifida is the most common permanently disabling birth defect in the United States. Spina Bifida
happens when a baby is in the womb and the spinal column does not close all the way. There are four
types of Spina Bifida, Occulta, Closed Neural tube defects, Meningocele, and Myelomeningocele.
Spina Bifida Occulta is one or more vertebrae are not properly formed. In Closed Neural tube defects
it consists of a diverse group of defects in which the spinal cord is marked by malformations of fat,
bone, or meninges. Meningocele is spinal fluid and meninges protrude through an abnormal vertebral
opening. And Myelomeningocele is the most severe and occurs when the spinal cord/neural elements
are exposed through the opening in the spine, resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The MSAFP test is an examination of the levels of Alpha Fetoprotein in the mother s blood during
pregnancy. Spina Bifida does not have a known cause. Doctors say that genes and the environment
may have something to do with the birth defect. Spina bifida treatment depends on the condition of the
birth defect. Spina bifida often doesn t need treatment at all. Surgery after birth, prenatal surgery are
treatments for Spina Bifida. The after birth surgery is Meningocele which involves surgery to put the
meninges back in place and close the opening in the vertebrae. Prenatal surgery is where the surgeons
expose a pregnant mother s uterus surgically, open the uterus and repair the baby s spinal cord.
Treatment continues on through the baby s life. Irreparable nerve damage has already happened and
continuous care from a team of surgeons, physicians and therapists is usually needed. Babies with
myelomeningocele may need more operations for a lot of different types of complications. Even when
children have Spina bifida most children can walk short distances, usually with braces, canes or
crutches, although they may need wheelchairs for longer

Communist Leaders of the 20th Century

Communist Leaders of the 20th Century
Vladimir Lenin, Ho Chi Minh and Moa Zedong were all leaders who were visionaries and
revolutionaries who changed the world. They used communist ideals and propaganda to engage
peasants and the working class to fight for freedom and to preserve their cultural values. Each leader
and his followers successfully changed the economic and political structure of their countries as well
as influencing the rest of the world for decades to come.

for the Soviet Union. His contribution to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Driven by oppression and exploitation of the working classes, he was totally dedicated to the cause,
even ending friendships that obstructed the movement s progress. He masterminded the Bolshevik
takeover of power in Russia in 1917, known as the October Revolution.
Situational Events
During the First World War, Russia was suffering and in chaos and Lenin took his chance to overthrow
the provisional government and founded the first Socialist state in the world. In power the Bolshevik
Party became known as the Communist Party and the realities of governing such a huge and diverse
country, brought to its knees by war, famine and disease, quickly displaced the aspirations and
optimism of the people s revolution. Certainly, Lenin was intelligent, enthusiastic, and a strong willed
person. However, possession of the all those traits does not necessarily explain the phenomena of
being an effective leader. At the same time, the situational factors are very important considerations
that influence success or failure. Situational influences play crucial role in leadership success. There
were many critical situational factors that had an effect on the revolutionary process in October 1917.
The country was exhausted by war with Germany (the I World War 1914 1917).
The Government did not have enough money to continue the war. With poor equipment, a lack of food

The Different Development of the New England, Southern,...
The Different Development of the New England, Southern, and Middle Colonies America was a place
for dreams and new beginnings, until white people arrived in 1607. Three groups sailed over the
treacherous Atlantic from their cruel lives in England to set up peaceful religious colonies. The only
problem is that they attempted to settle in their own way and all failed dismally. The New England,
Middle and Southern Colonies grew differently over the period 1619 1760.Examining the three sets of
colonies will prove that they were all different: socially, economically, politically but not
philosophically. Socially the three groups of colonies developed differently. The New England
Colonies life was dominated by the Puritan religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The three colonies all wanted to make money but they had to go about it in different ways. This was
mainly due to what they had available. The New England Colonies were mainly agricultural farmers.
With all the water reservoirs like Cape Cod there were plenty of fish so lots of people became
fishermen. There were a lot of lumberjacks to cut down trees and export them to England. The Middle
Colonies were extremely different because they set up extensive cosmopolitan cities reminiscent of
New York. They had many specialists like doctors, lawyers, accountants, and teachers. They traded a
lot with in North America and occasionally overseas. The Southern Colonies primarily depended on
cotton and tobacco plantations. As the plantations grew they had to employ black slaves. The
plantations were fully self contained with their own blacksmith, teachers and professionals. So there
were no big cities or towns. The main plantations traded directly with Europe via the Mississippi. The
three colonies all made money differently with their diverse professions and traders. The three
colonies all had comparable similarities, as they were all democratic. But they ran their democratic
government differently. For instance the New England Colonies was a Theocracy, which meant that
the church controlled the government. The Middle Colonies had their church and government
separate. The Southern Colonies were the most inequitable as they were an Oligarchy. This meant

The Supplemental Enrichment Program Is A Comprehensive...
A. The supplemental enrichment program is a comprehensive reading and language arts program that
develops reading mastery by building a solid reading foundation and using different research based
strategies and activities to meet the individual needs of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
As a result, the supplemental enrichment program will prioritize the following core language and
literacy aspects: Reading: Foundational Skills
The supplemental program will incorporate research based lessons featuring daily repetition of word
analysis and decoding practice. It will also target word reading skills and practice of words with
phonetic irregularities and sight words in order to primarily boost reading accuracy with the ultimate
goal of increasing overall reading fluency and comprehension.
Reading: Narrative The supplemental program will engage students with autism spectrum disorder
(ASD) in a similar but modified model of guided reading instruction in a small group setting. This will
promote a wide range of skills including a better understanding of the setting, plot, and theme,
comprehension of literal and figurative language, as well as structure and craft of narrative passages.
These skills will always be supported through teacher led explicit direct instruction, guided practice,
and independent practice in every part or aspect of the program.

Semi Structured Interviews
This research will be processed by using qualitative methods, specifically semi structured interview.
Semi structured interviews are a valuable research method when focus of the study is exploring
meanings and subjective perceptions (Gilham, 2000). Furthermore, semi structured interview is
appropriate when the focus of research is primarily on gaining insights and disclosure of personal
experiences or meanings.
This research will be designed to gather information about the mothers of child aged 0 5 who has been
fostered at young age. It will be focused on sharing their experiences as a foster child, how they would
want to rear their children, what was most difficult being a raised by non biological parents, and how
they would want to establish bonding with their child. If they feel their certain behaviour to the child
is caused due to personal foster history. The mothers with at least one pre school child will receive an
invitation to engage in the study. The population sample size will be determined by the constraints of
limited resources, the number of interviews to be managed and the time and resources available
(Bryman, 2012). The participants will be selected to establish range of wide spectrum including age,
ethnicity, socio economic, and kin and non kin placement to provide consequential meanings through
interviews. From this cohort, 12 mothers of children who may be risk of poor attachment development
will be hoped for this research. Number of interviews will be

Pet Pets And Pet Owner
Every animal lover and pet owner has a desire to give his or her pets the best life possible. I for one
know that I am supremely guilty of pampering all of my pets to the extreme however; many people
are beginning to wonder how they can still do that when their wallet is not as full as it used to be.
Comprised in this article is a list and description of the cheapest ways to pamper your companion
animal. Bake homemade treats for your pet instead of purchasing treats for him or her. Making stuff
instead of buying them is a great way to save money. Simply look up some relatively simple

If you live in the Los Angeles area and have had a beloved pet die, you might be wondering if there is
a pet cemetery where you can lay your faithful friend to rest. Fortunately, one of the oldest pet
cemeteries on the West Coast is located in the Los Angeles area. It s long and colorful history make it
a unique haven for pet owners. Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park, nestled in the rolling hills of
Calabasas, consists of 10 acres of peaceful, beautifully landscaped grounds. This pet cemetery,
founded in 1928, was once threatened to be turned over to land developers. A committed and
passionate group of pet owners formed S.O.P.H.I.E. (Save Our Pets History in Eternity), a non profit
group dedicated to preserving the grounds. They were able to raise enough funds to buy the grounds
and were responsible for the passing of the first ever State law in California to protect pet cemeteries.
In 1986 S.O.P.H.I.E. dedicated the Park in perpetuity. As such, you can be assured your pet will rest in
peace in this lush sanctuary. Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park is a full service pet cemetery that offers a

Impact Of Religion On Greek Theatre
Religion had a very large impact on Greek theatre. Religion was related to many everyday life tasks in
ancient Greece such as festivals, initiations, and oracles. Religion was a very important subject and
was something they used in their everyday lives. This is why, in my opinion ,religion had a high
impact on Greek theatre. The religion of Greek people is an important aspect of the Greek culture.
(Religion in Greece Source:www.greeka.com) Greek religion was a form of polytheism, which meant
that they believed in many deities. Because religion was not built around a book, they expressed it in
many forms. Greek theatre was performed on many different occasions, including special occasions.

the most important and long lasting theatrical influences in the world, and with some Greek plays still

Theatre became important to Greek cultures when it became a part of the festival honoring the god
Dionysus (The god of wine and fertility). ( Greek Mythology in Theater by Bruce Tucker October 27,
2016) The theater festival was founded to bring unity among the Attican tribes.( Greek Mythology in
Theater by Bruce Tucker October 27, 2016) Athens was the main center of these traditions. Everyone
came to sing and dance in hope for a good harvest. At one point, a Greek named Thespis began to sing
praises to the god, with others responding, which led to the actor and chorus. During the festival
everyone would dance and sing in a circle, in the middle of which was the altar to Dionysus. Over
time the festivals started giving thanks to other themes, and eventually had nothing to do with
Dionysus or any god, but began to turn into classical Greek plays. (First Ancient History, Oxford

Rebirth Of Walden Essay
Explain how the rebirth of Walden Pond in the springtime is like a rejuvenation of Thoreau s spirit.
The rebirth of Walden Pond in the springtime is like a rejuvenation of Thoreau s spirit because as the
reader is made aware, the winter season left Thoreau in a depressed, melancholic mood. This season
froze over Walden Pond, and made Thoreau shift his ideals in order to adapt to the weather. However,
since spring returned, and Walden Pond is reborn, Thoreau is reborn as well. He begins to draw
inspiration from nature, and provide his stance on certain religious aspects, as he did in the earlier
chapters of the novel. In addition, Thoreau believes, In a pleasant spring morning all men s sins are
forgiven (Thoreau 155). This could mean that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could indicate the reason to why Thoreau is writing about a beneficial topic. His ability to see
past the harsh views he is presented with during the dreary months is brought on by the nicer weather.
Moreover, spring does not only represent a comfortable season, but a state of mind for Thoreau. He
writes, we loiter in winter while it is already spring. In a pleasant spring morning all men s sins are
forgiven (Thoreau 155). This further elaborates on Thoreau s feeling about the new season. He
believes that spring has the ability to forgive and change a person, possibly allowing them to achieve
the immortality Thoreau believes that every man can achieve. He states, there needs no stronger proof
of immortality. All things must live in such a light. O Death, where was thy sting? O Grave, where
was thy victory, then (Thoreau 156). This indicates that no man sleeps in the grave because the light
awakens them, but all man might need to be forgiven of their sins before entering the light, and spring
as the ability to do

With millions and millions of meteors hurtling around in our solar system, there s always a chance that

affected if one does happen to hit? If an object from space hit the sea, a huge tidal wave would be
formed, hundreds of meters high, which would leave most of the world under water for a period of

Scientists have never proven this to be 100 % true, but it is one of the beliefs on how the dinosaurs
became extinct. Both scientists and paleontologists, feel that a meteor must of hit Earth, a few million
years ago, killing the dinosaurs. The meteor that might of wiped out the dinosaurs also could have
brought about the ice age, because of the huge dust cloud that was thrown into the air.
Also, even though this meteor strike never hit Earth, the world watched in awe as thousands of
meteors hit the planet Jupiter two years ago. For about one week, many meteors collided into Jupiter
causing huge craters on it s surface. If the meteors hit the Earth instead of Jupiter the world might
have been destroyed. Almost every American has to know of the crater in Arizona. About
49,000 years ago, a 150 foot meteor hit into the present day state of Arizona. This is the biggest crater
in the United States.
Throughout time, there have been many meteors that have hit
Earth causing great damage, but the scary thing is that there are still trillions and trillions of meteors

Adoption With Same Sex Couples
Jasmine Little Dr. Regus Introduction to Sociology 7 November 2017 Adoption with Same sex
Couples Adoption is when a child is removed from their home and are now under protection of
another family. They can be related or unrelated to the child. It can be great for children, as they can
live a better life than they would have had with their birth parents. The children may have endured
abuse or neglect and need to get out of the situation, or the parents could have not thought that they
were able to take care of the child. Either way, adoption is made to be in the best interest of the child.
They will be given loving and dependable parents to give them an overall better life. Families giving
their children up for adoption normally want ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is not much of a difference that will affect the child. If I were to do an experiment and conduct a
study, I would perform an ethnography/participant observation. An ethnography is when an observer
studies people in their own environments. It allows observers to write down what they observe and
receive a lot of details. They also can lead to policy change. It will take a lot of time, but it will be the
most effective study to present the best result. Ethnography is the best because some states already
allow same sex adoption. They can be observed in their household as well as outside of their
household to see how the children act. An observer can also see how the children turn out when they
get older. They can see if the children turn out gay or not, and can also see if the child was depressed
due to having gay parents or not. Plus, they can observe a traditional parent home to compare it to.
Real life situations are the best way to conduct a study. Hopefully by the end of the study the results
will cause same sex adoption to be allowed everywhere. The most effective theoretical perspective is
conflict theory. It is the driving force for social change. It puts emphasis on inequality. It shows how
we don t see privilege but it is obviously there. This is perfect for the study on same sex adoption
because it shows how not allowing same sex adoption can be a form of discrimination. This is the only
way to get the issue changed

How Is Adversity Shown In The Great Gatsby
Napoleon Hill once stated, Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an
equal or greater benefit. From George Washington to Nelson Mandela, greatness is cultivated from
adversity during turbulent times. Horace s assertion is correct in view of the fact that adversity causes
people to act, reveals vulnerabilities, and forces people to adapt. Notably, people are disinclined to fix
what is not broken, only when faced with an obstacle do they act. For example, in the novel The Great
Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby s desire for the love of Daisy Buchanan was the impetus for his
quest to live an affluent life through any means possible. He would not have taken advantage of his
resources if not faced with the complication of how to procure Daisy s attention. In brief, without a
challenge people will be unable to find a way to utilize their talents. ... Show more content on

Likewise, adversity causes one to search for and reveal the vulnerabilities of their enemy. For
example, in William Golding s The Lord of the Flies , Ralph showed the other children on the island
the flaws in Jack s plan of survival and that they needed to create a judicious plan if they wanted to
return to civilization. Ralph demonstrated the flaws of his antagonist to his audience, and while the
audience retained civility they were able to reason that Ralph was correct. When faced with adversity,
people will find the flaws of their foes and utilize them to enhance

Lack Of Visibility At The World Level
Much of Frances scientific output and contributions have been unrecognized because of lack of
visibility at the world level (Hassan). France s world shares in these fields declined significantly
between 2001 and 2006, partly due to the emergence of new scientific powers at the global level, such
as China, India and Brazil (Hassan). This does not mean that France has no accomplishments to the
technology field. In December of 2013, physicians in France implanted the world s first fully

Gatekeepers were established and used on a volunteer basis under the act (Mossialos). The reforms

Vygotsky s main Theory is the Social Development Theory. He was known for his Sociocultural

Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being
Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being
College. The word brings to mind the struggle of being accepted to a top tier university. The intense
competition seen in high schools around the country to earn a seat in prestigious schools can consume
student s lives to such a degree as to corrupt their sense of place. The competition drives students to
commit uncharacteristic and almost unconceivable actions. Many cheat their way into college by
manipulating affirmative action and as a result intentionally sabotage a peer s chances of succeeding.
This pursuit highlights a false sense of entitlement among students and fosters a hostile feeling toward
peers. A similar situation is seen throughout many works of literature such as Heart of Darkness, by
Joseph Conrad, where a mariner named Marlow, who uncovers the mysteries and horrors of the
African interior, seeks to meet an esteemed figure named Kurtz. When Marlow discovers Kurtz s true
nature and actions, he realizes the extreme degree of corruptness the human race possesses. In Heart
of Darkness, Joseph Conrad suggests that humans only seek personal profit, shown through character
relationships between Marlow and the African natives, the manager, and Kurtz.
Heart of Darkness depicts the corrupt nature of humanity by illustrating Africans who sold out their
own race to Europeans and enslaved them solely for the personal gain of not becoming a slave
themselves. When Conrad originally visits the Outer Station,

Action potentials can occur more frequently as long there is a continued source of stimulation, as long
as the relative refractory period has been reached, which in experiment 2 the refractory period was
complete.
5. Restate your predictions that were correct and give the data from your experiment that supports
them. Restate your predictions that were not correct and correct them, giving the data from your
experiment that supports the correction.
1) Exceeding threshold depolarization does not change the likelihood of an action potential being
produced, Due to the need for a refractory period this is (all or nothing) In the experiment from 6V 8V
in the axon hillock the difference in amplitude went from 30.2 to 30.9 (not a remarkable increase)
2) Amplitude does not change with distance. . From the experiment, the action potential amplitude
does NOT change as it propagates down the axon. (The change was small at 0.4, 0.2) 3) Increasing
frequency of stimulation of the trigger zone does not increases the production of the action potentials.
This goes back to the threshold All or nothing theory.

Models of Customer Satisfaction
Models of Customer Satisfaction Adriadne Aaron Hill Peru State College Executive Summary This
paper presents different models of customer satisfaction. Models are needed in customer satisfaction
so that when measurements are taken there is a way to analyze the results. Companies who want to
compete in their field must understand the purpose of customer satisfaction. The beginning stage of
customer satisfaction is distinguishing between the customer and the consumer. A customer is an
individual or business that purchases a product or service. A consumer is an individual that actually
uses the product or service. Even though research is generally termed customer service satisfaction as
the customer is the purchaser, it is important to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High performance businesses understand the importance of meeting these demands in order to retain
customers and to build new customer relationships. Businesses that are mindful of customer
satisfaction try to eliminate product and service failures, exchanges in which the customer experiences
losses (Smith, Bolton, Wagner, 1999). Businesses choose to measure customer satisfaction so that they
can determine their customer loyalty, the business revenue, and costs. Gaining a profit is the ultimate
goal of businesses, however, great businesses focus on the customer, and their needs and making sure
that quality demands are met. There are different models used to measure customer satisfaction that
are dependent upon the particular information desired. Models can focus on value, quality,
performance, and expectations. Models are needed to analyze the validity of measurements for
customer satisfaction. Literature Review Deros, Rahman, Rahman, Ismail, and Said examined Quality
Function Deployment (QFD). A study was done to measure service quality performance. Initially the
research began with surveying with questionnaires for feedback. They believed that it was necessary
to be able to adapt to the changing market in order to compete. Study revealed that QFD can be used
can be used to effectively improve in quality, performance, and customer satisfaction (Deros, Rahman,
Rahman, Ismail, Said, 2009).

Further into the research when the terry cloth surrogate got taken out of the cage the monkeys would

surrogate mother was placed in the cage with no milk the babies would still be attached. Harlow s
study and research went on for 20 years in which the experiments took on a disturbing unethical
approach. He started breeding monkeys and keeping them in separate cages with no visual or physical
access to the outside world, when the isolation reared monkeys grew up, they developed into highly
socially disturbed adults (Discovering Psychology, chapter 5, pg. 209). Influenced by human
attachment to abusive parents Harlow wanted to find out if an abusive surrogate would break the
attachment, a nasty surrogate mum was used and a blast of cold air from the surrogate was used,
violent enough to throw the baby monkey against the bars of the cage. Despite this abuse, the baby
monkeys continued to cling and maintain proximity to their monstrously abusive surrogate mother

The Heart and Circulation of Blood
The Heart and Circulation of Blood
In this research paper, I will be analyzing the process of blood circulation within the human body. I
will be focusing on the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit, as well as the relationship with the
hepatic portal system. The combination of these systems allows the body to function properly and
maintain unconscious homeostasis. I will also be talking about the effects that fitness and diet have on
these processes.
The pulmonary circuit passes already used, deoxygenated and carbon dioxide rich blood from the
heart to the lungs in order for that the blood to become oxygenized. Once oxygenized, the blood is
distributed throughout the body via the systemic circuit, being transported in ... Show more content on

In addition to the systemic circuit, there is a path that the blood can take through the mesenteric artery
that allows it to pass through the hepatic portal system. The mesenteric artery runs the blood to the
gastrointestinal tract and spleen and then to the liver. The blood s oxygen is exchanged with carbon
dioxide in the capillaries of the gastrointestinal tract, but some of the blood does not take part in this
exchange, and instead travels through the hepatic portal vein to the liver. The liver is particularly
special, as it receives both oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. The liver then cleanses the blood of
bacteria and any other harmful substance that may be in it (King, 2010). From here, the blood flows to
the hepatic vein, which is then joined into the inferior vena cava, and ultimately back to the heart.
It is vital that these processes are carried out without fault. They are all important to maintaining
homeostasis, and one of the ways to keep the blood flowing healthily is with exercise and a balanced
diet. Proper eating and exercise are important for allowing our bodies to fight problems such as
pulmonary hypertension, which an individual can get due to high blood pressure, and causes the
victim to have a shortness of breath (Fagard, 1999). In addition, studies have shown that exercise

Innocence In The Fifth Child

From the beginning of Harriet s pregnancy she knew something was different. She was always in pain
and when she finally gave birth to the child, Ben, he was different. He was not a pretty baby. He did
not look like a baby at all. He even looked different and was also very strong. Has he grew up, he was
always getting into trouble. Some reasons why I believe Ben is innocent is his age. Especially, when
he was the age of an infant. Even though Harriet said he is different, we hope that she is crazy. No
baby is evil. Typically, kids that are young don t know how to act. So, his parents can t really be blame
him for his actions. Also, his parents don t know why he acts the way he does. Ben could have a
mental problem his parents are unaware of. However, some people would consider him not to be
innocent. Usually, when a child is born they don t effect the woman the way Ben did to Harriet. Then
when the child is born they aren t as strong as Ben. There is however another character that is
innocent. Amy, daughter of Sarah and William, is innocent because she has Down Syndrome. Down
Syndrome effects intellectual growth and makes it difficult for her to know what is right or wrong for
her age. Lessing main goal wasn t to add innocence in her book. Her goal was to take something that
everyone knows to be innocent and change it into something that s not. She did this by adding in
supernatural touches. She did however include Amy as innocent to compare her with

Analysis Of Joyce Carol Oates Academy
Joyce Carol Oates grew up on a small farm, outside of the town Lockport, New York ( Joyce Carol

on her path to writing novels ( Joyce Carol Oates Academy 1). After high school, Oates went to
Syracuse University on a full ride scholarship and was valedictorian of her class (Moyer 1). After

Could you tell the difference in a painting and a photograph? As time goes on the line between art and
life is blurring. Realism and Photorealism are both art styles with the purpose of capturing a painting
or drawing that looks as realistic as possible. Realism was first came around in the early 1800 s and
stayed popular through most of the 19th century. Just as realism was losing steam, photorealism
started taking root in the art scene. Photorealism, much like realism, depended on the accuracy of the
painting or drawing. However new techniques were introduced during the time of photorealists. Both
realism and photorealism are very challenging art forms and each have their own history.
The realism art movement began in France in 1840, only 40 years after the French Revolution. During
this time France was undergoing many social and economic changes. Back in 1825, France s stock
market crashed and was followed with a financial panic. Then came bad harvests in 1826 leading to
high food prices in the following two winters. The realism movement called for the accurate, detailed,

Nature has a powerful way of portraying good vs. bad, which parallels to the same concept
intertwined with human nature. In the story Greasy Lake by T. Coraghessan Boyle, the author portrays
this through the use of a lake by demonstrating its significance and relationship to the characters. At
one time, the Greasy Lake was something of beauty and cleanliness, but then came to be the exact
opposite. Through his writing, Boyle demonstrates how the setting can be a direct reflection of the
characters and the experiences they encounter.
The lake itself plays a major role throughout the story, as it mirrors the characters almost exactly. For

It is ironic that not only is the lake named Greasy Lake, but the individuals who hang out there are
also referred to as being greasy characters as well. The 3 main characters find themselves surrounded

the main characters then attempt to rape a girl that is with the man they just fought. Very soon after
more people show up ready to join in the deviant behavior, all while in the presence of this dirty,
disgusting lake. I d struck down one greasy character, and blundered into the waterlogged carcass of a
second (128). No matter what the main characters do, or how they react to the conflicts presented,
they constantly find themselves in the presence of more greasy characters at the greasy lake.
The author also makes a connection between the lake and the characters in his use of the word nature.
Fairly early in the story Boyle explains that the characters go to the lake to plunge into the festering
murk, drink beer, smoke pot, howl at the stars which again shows us the connection between the
disgusting lake and the deviant teen boys. (125). Boyle then concludes the paragraph by saying, This
was nature, which describes the attitudes and behaviors of the teenagers that go to the lake (125). Yet

Analysis Of The Tucson Jewish Community Center
Industry Overview have better intro sentence The Tucson Jewish Community Center (JCC) is a hub
for both Jewish and non Jewish members of the Tucson community to interact through a number of
different activities such as sports, art classes, and summer camps. The primary industry for the JCC is
the Civic and Youth Organizations industry which has a NAICS code of 81341. Currently, the industry
is in the decline stage of its life cycle with an expected annual decline of 1%. The JCC faces macro
competition through the AAU Junior Olympics and International Youth Olympics, and faces micro
competition through the Tucson Soccer Shootout and NYS Tucson (For more details see Appendix A

14 sports, cultural and social events, and a service day create the diversity offered by the Games (
Maccabi USA , 2017). The overall community comes from meeting other Jewish teens from across the
country. Weaknesses: The main weakness of the games is the Jewish requirement of most
stakeholders. 3% of the US population is Jewish meaning that most athletes and host families are not
eligible to participate ( Vital Statistics, 2016). Opportunities: The largest opportunities are creating
ongoing revenue streams, energizing Tucson JCC staff, and creating a sense of community (T.
Rockoff, Personal Communication, October 10, 2017). Ongoing revenue streams will come from the
significant economic impact on Tucson whereas energizing staff and creating a sense of community
will derive from the morale boost of successfully hosting the Games. Threats: Threats facing the
Games are potential volunteers and host families traveling during the summer and the unpredictable
summer weather of Tucson. The two stakeholders are necessary to host the Games successfully and
the dangerous weather could lead to delays and injuries. Trends: The most important trend is the 1%
decline in the Civic, Social, and Youth Organizations industry (Longo, 2017). This is due to the
preference of young teens to watch TV and use social media, thus making the narrow target market
even smaller as the industry declines. See appendix C for more detail. Target Market The primary
target market is

Dirt Biking
When you drive the powerful dirt bike you feel a vibration and you feel pressure that if you crash it s
over. Dirt Biking is exciting. Innumerable teens love extreme sports. Which are skateboarding,
mountain biking, dirt biking....etc. Many parents feel that extreme sports are not okay because there
children might get hurt a bit. I believe many teens should be able to succeed in extreme sports. Several
kids are drawn to extreme sports. Teens take risks. Scientists have learned that some teens crave
different experiences and they have a high tolerance for risk. Some studies show that risk increases

Douglas s Learning To Read And Write By Frederick Douglass
All humans are created equally and are born with free will. Every person has the natural right to be the
author of their life, meaning that they can make their own choices and pursue their dreams.
Nevertheless, humans bent nature to their will by adopting slavery, a practice in which humans are
owned and are brutally forced to work. In the excerpt Learning to Read and Write, Frederick Douglass
masters the literacy skills he needed to fulfill his role as an abolitionist, bringing an end to slavery
(Douglass 100). Throughout his piece, he addressed many important concepts such as that reading is
power but also a curse (Douglass 100). His main objective was to prove his point that our environment
doesn t define who we are. It s the choices we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Douglass s mistress ceased to instructed him because he lived in a society where it was
derogatory to teach blacks how to read, it didn t make him overwhelmed, illiterate, stupid, or
uneducated (Douglass 101 102). It didn t make him too scared get help or to disobey the rules of
society because of the choice he made (Douglass 101 102). For example, according to the excerpt
Learning to Read and Write, he befriended the boys he met on the street and did them many favors to
make them his teachers (Douglass 101). That is to say that Douglass was ambitious and serious about
his education though nobody pushed him to learn. He also [gave bread to] the hungry little urchins,
who, in return, would give me a more valuable bread of knowledge (Douglass 101). In addition, by
going one part of [his] errands quickly, [he] found time to get a lesson before his return (Douglass
101) and in time, he successfully mastered the skill of reading (Douglass 101). In other words,
Douglass tried to prove his point that our circumstances don t define us by showing that despite his
disadvantages, he wasn t dumb or illiterate (Douglass 101). He became a

Ethics Kantian Ethics
Ethics essay Kantian ethics
a.) Explain Kant s concept of duty
Immanuel Kant was a German philosopher who was concerned with producing an ethical theory that
was logical and absolute, and did not change depending on the situation, countering the views of John
Locke and other empiricists of the time. His ethics are based on duty, rather than looking at the end
product of an action. He thought that his theory was so important that it could be rivalled with the
Copernican revolution, in that it would utterly change everyone s concept of morality in the same
profound manner. There are two main dictionary definitions of duty, obeying a superior, and obeying
the moral law in doing the right thing, and Kant was concerned with the latter.

He himself uses the example of a good shopkeeper, in which a small child gives a shopkeeper a large
amount of money for a cheap product, unaware of its value. Firstly, the shopkeeper could give the
child the wrong amount of money, which would of course be immoral, or they could give the correct
amount of change, but with the intention of improving their reputation, and business with it. They
should give the correct change, with only the good will in mind, not with the intention of good
business. It is the shopkeeper s duty to act with integrity, as to not treat people as means to ends, and it
is our duty as well.
Kant believed that there must be some reason, some reward for our doing good actions. This he
described as the `summum bonum`, or the greatest good. We are not able to gain the summum bonum
in this life as Kant observed people who were not living morally, but living happily, and vice versa so
we must be able to get there in the afterlife. He postulated the existence of heaven because of this, and
it s in heaven that we achieve this in the afterlife.
Finally, the three postulates of reason are three things that are needed for this theory to work. These
include freedom, immortality, and the existence of God. He realised that we must be able to make our
own decisions freely, that we have the ability to make wrong decisions as well the correct ones. There
must an afterlife for us to able to reach the summum

  • 2. The Life Of The 1950 S Essay The 1950 s were considered to be a time where life was full of bliss, who wouldn t want to be untroubled? Life in the 1950 s was simple and structured, and now it seems as though the Happy days have disappeared. The 1950 s are considered The Happy Days because life was so well put together back then and now, it seems, it has all fallen apart. The 1950 TV shows, like Leave it to Beaver, has the American society believing that life was perfect . Seeing the shows makes one imagine that the family life was splendid, the style was flawless and modest, everyone got along, neighbors were friendly, and that the changes happening were for the best. In a way that was very true. People in the society knew their place; In a typical 1950 s family, the father and mother had specific roles they had to fulfill, and even the children had certain responsibilities. The men were the head of the household and usually worked to provide for the family. The women of the 1950 s society were stay at home moms, occasionally working a job as teachers or nurses. Men and women of that time were well mannered, clean, and classy. When the man and woman walked down the street, the man would walk on the outside or the road side to protect the woman from traffic. Men would also tip there hats as a kind gesture when they walked past a woman. Life just seemed to be in place in the 1950 s, yes, it wasn t perfect, but it seemed much more put together than what society is like now. The man of the house ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being Personal Profit s Crucial Role in Defining a Human Being College. The word brings to mind the struggle of being accepted to a top tier university. The intense competition seen in high schools around the country to earn a seat in prestigious schools can consume student s lives to such a degree as to corrupt their sense of place. The competition drives students to commit uncharacteristic and almost unconceivable actions. Many cheat their way into college by manipulating affirmative action and as a result intentionally sabotage a peer s chances of succeeding. This pursuit highlights a false sense of entitlement among students and fosters a hostile feeling toward peers. A similar situation is seen throughout many works of literature such as Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, where a mariner named Marlow, who uncovers the mysteries and horrors of the African interior, seeks to meet an esteemed figure named Kurtz. When Marlow discovers Kurtz s true nature and actions, he realizes the extreme degree of corruptness the human race possesses. In Heart of Darkness, Joseph Conrad suggests that humans only seek personal profit, shown through character relationships between Marlow and the African natives, the manager, and Kurtz. Heart of Darkness depicts the corrupt nature of humanity by illustrating Africans who sold out their own race to Europeans and enslaved them solely for the personal gain of not becoming a slave themselves. Models are needed in customer satisfaction so that when measurements are taken there is a way to analyze the results. Companies who want to compete in their field must understand the purpose of customer satisfaction. The beginning stage of customer satisfaction is distinguishing between the customer and the consumer. A customer is an individual or business that purchases a product or service. A consumer is an individual that actually uses the product or service. Even though research is generally termed customer service satisfaction as the customer is the purchaser, it is important to ... Businesses that are mindful of customer satisfaction try to eliminate product and service failures, exchanges in which the customer experiences losses (Smith, Bolton, Wagner, 1999). Businesses choose to measure customer satisfaction so that they can determine their customer loyalty, the business revenue, and costs. Gaining a profit is the ultimate goal of businesses, however, great businesses focus on the customer, and their needs and making sure that quality demands are met. There are different models used to measure customer satisfaction that are dependent upon the particular information desired. Models can focus on value, quality, performance, and expectations. Models are needed to analyze the validity of measurements for customer satisfaction. Literature Review Deros, Rahman, Rahman, Ismail, and Said examined Quality Function Deployment (QFD). A study was done to measure service quality performance. Initially the research began with surveying with questionnaires for feedback. • 29. The Heart and Circulation of Blood The Heart and Circulation of Blood In this research paper, I will be analyzing the process of blood circulation within the human body. I will be focusing on the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit, as well as the relationship with the hepatic portal system. The combination of these systems allows the body to function properly and maintain unconscious homeostasis. I will also be talking about the effects that fitness and diet have on these processes. The pulmonary circuit passes already used, deoxygenated and carbon dioxide rich blood from the heart to the lungs in order for that the blood to become oxygenized. Once oxygenized, the blood is distributed throughout the body via the systemic circuit, being transported in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the systemic circuit, there is a path that the blood can take through the mesenteric artery that allows it to pass through the hepatic portal system. The mesenteric artery runs the blood to the gastrointestinal tract and spleen and then to the liver. The blood s oxygen is exchanged with carbon dioxide in the capillaries of the gastrointestinal tract, but some of the blood does not take part in this exchange, and instead travels through the hepatic portal vein to the liver. The liver is particularly special, as it receives both oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. The liver then cleanses the blood of bacteria and any other harmful substance that may be in it (King, 2010). From here, the blood flows to the hepatic vein, which is then joined into the inferior vena cava, and ultimately back to the heart. It is vital that these processes are carried out without fault. They are all important to maintaining homeostasis, and one of the ways to keep the blood flowing healthily is with exercise and a balanced diet. Proper eating and exercise are important for allowing our bodies to fight problems such as pulmonary hypertension, which an individual can get due to high blood pressure, and causes the victim to have a shortness of breath (Fagard, 1999). Realism and Photorealism are both art styles with the purpose of capturing a painting or drawing that looks as realistic as possible. Photorealism, much like realism, depended on the accuracy of the painting or drawing. However new techniques were introduced during the time of photorealists. Both realism and photorealism are very challenging art forms and each have their own history. The realism art movement began in France in 1840, only 40 years after the French Revolution. During this time France was undergoing many social and economic changes. Back in 1825, France s stock market crashed and was followed with a financial panic.
