The Grapes Of Wrath By Ma Joad
Ma Joad: Keeping her family in line since 1939
In a time where women were considered inferior, The Grapes of Wrath uses secondary characters,
specifically Ma Joad, to demonstrate a woman taking charge in a family setting, and the
relationships of such a woman with others. Ma helps amplify the theme of feminism and women s
rights in different scenarios. Her relationships with Pa, her daughter Rose of Sharon, and even
herself all convey different elements of an extraordinary leader and an amazing mother.
Ma and Pa s relationship throughout The Grapes of Wrath defies the idea of a normal couple in the
era of the Dust Bowl. They are represented very much as equals through the conflicts their family
has to face, contrary to other couples, where the husband is in charge. Ma takes the lead in
many situations and Pa respects, and maybe even fears her opinions. Ma commandeers decision
making and often causes conflicts with her strong beliefs. This passage conveys the dynamic of
their relationship very early on in the book: Pa broke in, But s pose there just ain t room? He
had twisted his neck to look up at her, and he was ashamed. Her tone had made him ashamed.
[...] She stopped, and Pa turned back, and his spirit was raw from the whipping. (Steinbeck 132)
Not only does Pa look to Ma for advice, but he also notices that she has a higher authority over the
family than he does. It becomes obvious as the book goes on that he is not well equipped to deal
with the situations that

Introduction:
Every human iris formation starts from third month of our developing life. The iris looks like

Pros And Cons Of M4
According to South (2017), the Army is replacing the M4 with a new rifle with a bigger bullet
by 2020. This essay will start out with giving a brief history of the topic and discuss about the
issue of the Army M4. Pro and cons on how to replace the weapons system would affect soldier
maneuverability and combat effectiveness. There have been many upgrades and negative
complaints from the soldiers down range in regards to the M16/M4 since it s been used within the
Army. Within the past 20 years, the Army spent a lot of money on the M4 carbine program, but
Congress didn t approve. They still certain that the M4 is a superior weapon against enemies
(Freedberg, 2013). The Army should replace with the current weapon system with a whole new...

A new platform would be more lethal, more effective, and more reliable than the M4. A major
concerned with the M4 is that the M4 is prone to jamming and malfunctioning due to fouling.
Fouling is caused by carbon residue build up in the weapon system. In combat situations the M4
has been unreliable, because the weapon misfires. M4 malfunctions include failure to fire,
failure to eject, failure to chamber a round, and failure to feed. The Army conduct a dust test in
2007 for testing M4A1 reliability. The Army testers and engineers selected ten M4s and three
other weapon systems shot 6000 rounds in the dust chamber. M4 has 683 stoppages and perform
the worst against other weapons. In other words, the M4 jammed every 68 rounds (Lowes,
2007). The other selected weapons are the Heckler Koch 416, XM8, and the FN SCAR. (Lowes,
2007). The XM8 jammed every 472 rounds and the HK 416 jammed every 257 rounds. The
XM8 has the lowest stoppage rate. If the Army adopted one of these three weapons, it will
significantly increases reliabilities in the combat zone. The second issue with the M4A1 is also
closely related to malfunction. The M4 is easy to overheat after prolonged firing. There s two
factors that cause this problem. The first factor is the high pressure and high velocity round
shooting out from the barrel. The other factor is the gas operation mechanism of the M4A1 uses hot
air recycles into the gas impingement tube back

Restaurants may be classified or distinguished in many different ways. The primary factors are
usually the food itself (e.g. vegetarian, seafood, steak); the cuisine (e.g. Italian, Chinese, Japanese,
Indian, French, Mexican, Thai) and/or the style of offering (e.g. tapas bar, a sushi train, a tasted
restaurant, a buffet restaurant or a yum cha restaurant). Beyond this, restaurants may differentiate
themselves on factors including speed, formality, location, cost, service, or novelty themes (such
as automated restaurants). Restaurants range from inexpensive and informal lunching or dining
places catering to people working nearby, with simple food served in simple settings at low
prices, to expensive establishments serving refined food and fine wines in a formal setting. In
the former case, customers usually wear casual clothing. In the latter case, depending on culture
and local traditions, customers might wear semi casual, semi formal or formal wear. Typically,
customers sit at tables, their orders are taken by a waiter, who brings the food when it is ready.
After eating, the customers then pay the bill. For some time the travelling public has been catered

Cursive Writing
To Cursive or Not to Cursive?
A fifteen year old straight A student walked into the Department of Motor Vehicles with her
mother. The excitement of becoming a driver for the first time quickly faded when the girl was
required to sign her name. The girl was mortified that she didn t know how. The mother couldn t
help but wonder if her child s generation was filled with cursive illiterates? Cursive writing should
be a curriculum requirement for grade school students not only because it is required on legal
documents but it is important to understand information written in cursive and it improves
penmanship.
Teenagers and young adults are increasingly faced with embarrassment because of their lacking
knowledge in the art of handwriting. For many young adults it starts with getting a driver s
license. As the amount of things that an individual wants in life increases the more their
signature is needed. The big things like a car and house can be thwarted for a short time by living
in a city with public transportation and with parents or roommates. There comes a point in life
when personal needs and wants become clear and the skill of signing one s name becomes a
necessity. Going to college or getting married and having children require tedious amounts of
paperwork that repeatedly asks a person to sign on the dotted line. Sometimes these legal ... Show

However, many teachers hang up the printed version of these documents. The discarded cursive
penmanship negates the traditional and historical ambiance behind each document. This class of
ambiance is also found in formal invitations like wedding announcements, graduation invites, and
retirement parties. The elegant form of cursive writing bears a sentimental tone which is meant to
be perceived as having a higher level of intimacy and importance than printed

Donald Trump s Debate Analysis
Sunday October 9th, the second Presidential debate aired generating approximately 66.5 million
viewers to watch the Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump debate the issues. Moderated by Martha
Raddatz and Anderson Cooper the debate was a town hall style with questions coming from
undecided voters, as well as facebook and the moderators. The television programs following the
debate tend to spin the debate in favor of their candiate. I tuned in to Hannity on Fox News on

the lack of a workable peace agreement agreed to by most of the rebel factions. UNAMID is also
unique in that its core mission is the protection of civilians, a goal in which it seems to have failed.
The concept of civilian protection factors in strongly at every level, from the drafting of resolutions,
to the deployment in the field. In operational terms UNAMID interpreted the three tiers of

Gun Firearms Should Be Handled
In 1787, when the U.S. Constitution was written, did our founding fathers plan for the negative
association of guns with violence amongst their own citizens? Did they foresee the advancement
of their one shot muskets becoming automatic assault rifles? The news today is riddled with
debates of gun control due to many accounts of our nation s troubled citizens, to the unaware
youth, being able to easily obtain lethal firearms. From the tragedy of Sandy Hook and Virginia
Tech to the death of a four year old by his own mother s gun, brings to attention to the question of
how these lethal firearms should be handled. Opinions vary from both extremes of the spectrum but

Tribune, Christy Gutowski and Vikki Ortiz Healy write an article that challenges the required age
of handling firearms, they reveal that even at a younger age, shooting a gun was not a problem but
the procedure used to teach the girl was not up to par. A very common practice is to blame the
outcome of guns, but very few question how the firearms were used.
Through tragedies like, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, we begin to question as to
why such a troubled man was able to obtain a gun. From the analysis of Adam Lanza s crime,
they were able to see that he had first killed his mother with a Savage Mark II rifle, also being
known that this gun was obtainable to him due to the fact that he was older than 18 years of age. In
addition to this firearm, he had at least two semi automatic rifles and two handguns. The grieved
parents and our on looking nation were outraged at the feasibility of his accessibility of lethal
firearms. Many questioned the usage of semi automatic firearms and why Lanza s mother had
owned them, this had also started waves of pro gun control to make way in the Senate. (Awr)

The Power Of Power In Les Miserables And The Kite Runner
What is power? Power has been the demise of leaders, empires, and the cause of war. Can power
be used for good? Both Les Miserables and The Kite Runner can be juxtaposed to show power,
what it is, and what it can be used for. Les Miserables and The Kite Runner show that power is
subjective, and has many different interpretations. Merriam Webster dictionary has many
definitions of power. Power could be considered the ability to produce an effect, or physical might,
or even possession of control, authority, or influence over others. Wealth is a form of power. We
see two different elements of this in both selections of literature. In Les Miserables, Jean Valjean,
the former convict, uses wealth that he acquires under the name Mayor Madeleine to provide
jobs for his constituents in a factory that he owns. Valjean used his power through wealth to
empower many others to make their own wealth. This use of power is noble and just. Instead of
giving others money or gifts, he gives them the gift of empowering themselves through
sustainable work. This is a redeeming moment of Jean Valjean s character, contrasting his past as
a convict.Baba is the father of Amir, the protagonist in The Kite Runner. He is a man of great
influence, and possesses a strong moral compass. Baba is a very well written, realistic character.
He is not restricted to good or bad, but blurs the lines. The way he uses his wealth is one of his
better qualities meant to counteract some of his worse

Theme Of Fog In Long Day s Journey Into Night
What Fog Represents in Long Day s Journey into Night?
Long Day s Journey into Night is a semi autobiographical story written by Eugene O Neill
roughly on 1941 1942. The play concerns the Tyrone family which were composed of parents
James and Mary and their sons Jamie and Edmund. Mary and Jamie were each addicted to
morphine and alcohol, respectively. The story deals with the family s addiction to whiskey, the
father parsimony, the mother s addiction to morphine, and the younger son s illness. Resentment,
blame, and accusation were expressed all the times by the family members for not taking
responsibility and running away from the reality. The long journey that the title of the play referred
to was actually a journey into the past. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Mary was talking to her daughter Cathleen on act three, she said It s the foghorn I hate. It
won t let you alone. It keeps reminding you, and warning you, and calling you back. The foghorn
was obnoxious and harsh to Mary, and that is why she did not like it.
Another example that explains that the metaphor fog, in this play, represented the lost or
confusion life is Edmund s expression. Edmund indicated the idea that the fog was a flee from
reality when he said, The fog is where I wanted to be. Edmund experienced his retreat into the
fog with the help of alcohol so did Mary with the morphine. Edmund s lost, confusion, and the
disconnected from the environment were explicitly shown from his feeling. However, his family
could not read what he was experiencing because all of them were either drunk or on drugs like
his mother. Moreover, Edmund used the sea and fog as metaphors of how close he feels to his
loneliness. He said, As if I was a ghost belonging to the fog, and the fig was the ghost of the sea. It
felt to damned peaceful to be nothing more than the ghost within the ghost. (Act fourth, O Neill)
The father was partly blamed of all the crisis that the family had. Tyrone thought that whiskey was
used as medicine. In the play, Tyrone gave his ill sons Edmund a whiskey as a tonic for his
tuberculosis disease. Due to Tyrone s ancestor, that whiskey was something used like water, Tyrone
believed that it was true and he

Summary Of Zoot Suit By Luis Valdez
In the play Zoot Suit, the author Luis Valdez deals with the central theme of injustice and
uncanny law enforcement through the life of Mexican American gangster Henry Renya.
Essentially, the Hispanic 38th street men, which is led by Henry, are accused of a crime they did
not commit. One can determine that they were wrongfully sentenced because of their race and
their choice of clothing. Throughout the play, Luis Valdez depicts how injustice has become a
part of the life for Mexican Americans through the portrayals of the Sleepy Lagoon Murder, their
attire, misconduct during the trial, and racism. The murder of Jose Williams to place at Sleep

The pachucos suffered from obvious racism during the trial and it can be detected many times. A
number of times throughout the trial, the prosecution pointed to the clothing and hairstyles of the
men in order to argue his reasoning behind them being guilty. The trial was biased and was unfair
to the pachucos because of the prejudice and discrimination they faced. This case was a prime
example of a group of people being racially profiled because they were considered different from
the norm . While racism was a prominent theme throughout the play, both George and Alice were
two white characters who fought tirelessly to defend the Mexican Americans of their wrongful
conviction. Therefore, the lesson that Luis was trying to teach his audience is that sometimes
people do not have the ability to fight for themselves, which caused them to depend on others who

The Negative Effects Of Violent Role Playing Games
Picture this, you are running through the woods with your friends, a small water gun glued to
your hand. It is the best day ever. Except that you have a paper due tomorrow which you haven t
started, you are trespassing on someone s property, and you tripped on a log a few minutes
before and hurt your ankle. Teenagers are known for their rebellious and dangerous behavior.
Although pulling stunts and playing games may be fun they also need to consider the dangers
and outcomes of these actions. There is much controversy of whether or not violent role playing
games are good or bad for people including teenagers. There are many people who believe that the
positive effects it has on people outweigh the negative effects. However, there are also people that
argue that the negative effects outweigh the positive effects. Although violent role playing games
seem fun and harmless they aren t and are very dangerous, have many illegal aspects to them, and
keep people that are playing them unfocused on school or work.
There are many places where this game could be considered dangerous. One example of how this
is a dangerous game is in High Jinks: Shoot Out by Guy Martin. As Mr. Martin states hopped a
neighbor s fence and exited through a neighbor s house. This is a very dangerous action because
when he hopped over the fence he could have destroyed parts of his body if he fell incorrectly. Or

Plot is defined as, the authors arrangement of incidents in a story it is the organizing principle that
controls the controls the order of events (Meyer,64). The element of plot is heavily relied on in the
short story, The Killings by Andre Dubus. The plotwhich is completely made inside the imagination
of an author (Meyer,64), gives the audience important insight to people, places, and events in the
story (Meyer,64) . The Killings provides a somewhat conventional plot pattern, where the
character is confronted with a problem and is then led into a climax, which late leads to the

The story explains, One night he beat Frank. Frank was living at home and waiting for September,
for graduate school in economics, and working as a lifeguard at Salisbury Beach, where he met
Mary Ann Strout, in her first month of separation. (Dubus,86). This small piece of information
allows the audience to understand the possible relationship between Frank and his killer. The name
of the killer, stated earlier in the story as, Richard Strout assumably has a relationship with Mary
Ann Strout, the girl Frank meets on the beach. The passage also clarifies that Strout had previously
beaten Frank before finally killing him. When the paragraph ends stating where he met Mary Ann
Strout in her first month of separation (Dubus,86), we are sure that Strout and Mary Ann were
indeed married at one point and that Frank was somehow intruding on their marriage. A
conversation between the Fowlers also confirms the relationship between Frank and Mary Ann. By
understanding the relationships, subtlety stated in the paragraph, the reader forms a solid
explanation for why Strout killed Frank Fowler. By flashing back into past knowledge and
information the reader is able to fully understand the story. The plot is enhanced by the rising action
of the story. During this time, Richard Strout has been kidnapped by Matt Fowler.

cause and broke into a world war. There are eight main reasons that we say caused the War to End
all Wars. Imperialism is said to have been a huge in the cause of the first world war. Imperialism is
where a country expands its overall power and control through their military and Gun Boat
Diplomacy. Gunboat Diplomacy or also known as big stick Diplomacy is a country uses its strong
military to fight or threaten another country. With many European countries strengthening their
militaries, they feared imperialism and started to to form alliances with other countries that they
trusted. I will talk more about these alliances later because they played... Show more content on

Once industrialization hit there were factories all across Europe. This allowed country to mass
produce weapons like never before. The new machinery was faster than ever seen before. With
country s pump out weapons at such a fast speed, they were able to design all sorts of new types
of weapons that had never been seen on the battlefield like tanks and chemical warfare. With
nations arming so fast, it led it an arms race which led to countries building large standing
armies. Like I mentioned early, countries began to fear imperialism and being taken over by
another country. So they began to form trade/military alliances. These alliances were basically
were two countries would agree to help one another if the other was attacked. In some of the
Alliances the other country had no choice to but to declare war on the country that attacked their
allie. These alliances played a very large part into making a true world war. With the fear of being
taken over, European countries began to form Large standing armies, Here are some statistics to
show how big they were. Russia had 4.4 million men, France had 3.5 million men, Austria Hungary
had 3 million men, and Germany had 8.5 million men. Even though these countries had these large
militaries they did not want to use them. It is a very popular saying to say that that the European
Nations were dragged into the war kicking and

Qualitative Study Summary
The focus of chapter four will center on the findings of a longitudinal study that determined the
long term impact on student outcomes of students who are successfully exited from early
literacy programs. For purposes of this study, up to five years of data from five cohorts of grade
two students from a suburban school district in Connecticut who participated in an early literacy
program will be employed. This data will then be compared to grade level data points from state
and district reading assessments. This study seeks to determine if these students can sustain the
ability to read at or above grade level as they progress through school. Further, those students in the
cohort who were near grade level reading benchmarks and did not receive any additional
interventions beyond grade two will also be evaluated to determine if this early literacy program
provided the essential foundation from which students could continue to progress. The school used
in this study provides educational programming for approximately 350 students in kindergarten
through grade two. The school follows a trimester... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Gender Issues Faced By Women Union Membership Essay
As women continue gaining equal representation within the workforce, it should be unsurprising
that women also are steadily gaining ground within union membership. As women union
membership increases, we would also expect women in roles of union leadership to also
increase. This is an important metric to examine, as there are several gender specific work
related issues that women would benefit from being prioritized. Women consistently see lower
wages for the same work, fewer promotion opportunities, and the added stress of childcare
responsibilities typically relegated to mothers. It is possible, therefore, that women look to
union leadership to account for these needs. It is also then likely that these needs are more
consistently prioritized by union leadership where women are adequately represented. There are
many issues facing women today in the workplace. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor
Statistics 2013 report, Women in the Labor Force, 76% of the labor force were mothers with
children between the ages of 6 and 17. The median weekly wage for women in 2012 was about
81% of the median weekly wage for men, with a larger discrepancy for minority women. In
2011, working women were slightly more likely to be under the poverty line than working men,
again, a discrepancy which increased for women who are also part of other minority groups.
Further, about 17% of women with a disability were in the labor force. Childcare, the pay gap, a
living wage, and

Blood Typing And The Blood Of The Donor Blood
INTRODUCTION:
Blood typing is one of the tests that will determine a person s blood type. Although, all blood is
made of the same basic elements but they are not same by their blood typing. In fact, there are
eight different common blood types. Based on certain substances of antigen presence or absence
and Rh factors we will able to identify the person blood types. Those substances can trigger an
immune response if they are foreign to the body. Blood typing is important when you need a
blood transfusion or planning to have an organ transplant. As we know not all blood types are
compatible due to their antigen and antibodies they have. Since some antigens can react with
person immune system to attack the donor blood, It is very important to know the person s blood
typing and cross matching to ensure that your body doesn t make antibodies to attack the donor
blood or organ. Blood typing is especially important to pregnant mothers when the mother is Rh
and the father has Rh+ and a child born with Rh positive. So, it is important to be an early
cautious in order to avoid reactive consequences. In the medical sector small mistake can take
patient life. In this lab experiment though using the anti A serum, anti B serum, and anti Rh serum,
we were able to identify the blood types of each sample that we had.
MATERIAL AND METHODS:
In order to prepare for this experiment, our professor had given us four different samples of
unknown synthetic blood type. We also had 3 different

Attorney General Lynch Letter To Sen America
In their letter to Attorney General Lynch, famous writers and artists Apple supporters compel him
to end the Federal Bureau of Investigation s efforts to force Apple to create a software that could
enable the U.S. government to unlock any iPhone in End Efforts to Compel Apple to Crack iPhone .
The signees begin their letter with an immediate call to action to the attorney general followed by a
concession of their shared horror and outrage with the recent terror attacks in San Bernardino
acknowledging the need to ensure strong protections for national security (PEN America).
Contrasting the concession, the authors insert their first claim, what the FBI is asking Apple to do
would erode vital U.S. values... and could endanger writers and human rights advocates in [other]
countries... (PEN America). This suggests they have temerity in order to protect not only human
rights but also future rights stay intact. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, they cite PEN America s own surveys of writers around the world which show that
mass government surveillance... prompts writers to engage in self censorship, avoiding writing or
speaking about certain topics in order to remind Lynch that artists will stop debating controversial
topics, making those topics like abortion taboo and keeping civilians less informed (PEN America).
The signees concede with the government, FBI, and U.S. citizens regarding terrorism. They agree
all of them want to take aggressive steps to reduce the threat of terrorism suggesting that the
authors can see both sides of the argument so Lynch will listen to their request for an end to the
FBI s efforts to force Apple to create the software.
The writers moralize that the government s duty is to preserve and protect [the] constitution and
assume the government has forgotten their main duty: to protect the Constitution they feel, they

Destructors By Graham Greene
Class, After reading Destructors by Graham Greene I am convinced to believe this statement fits
very well with the story. I had to reread this short story, because I missed important pieces the first
time. The reason the gang wants to hurt Thomas or Old Misery is because he gave the gang what
he said was chocolate, and in reality it was not. This made the gang think Thomas was trying to be
smart with them, and the gang said they would get even. The gang then chose to do this by
destroying the man s house. Not just breaking a few things, but tearing the house completely down.
Emotions were shifted throughout the book, and I believe that played an important role in grabbing
the reader s attention and keeping them guessing what will happen

Osteogenesis Imperfecta ( Oi ) Is An Inherited Disorder...
Science Biology Transcript
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI)
Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is an inherited disorder characterized by extreme fragility of the
bones also known as brittle bone disease .
Clinical Features
The symptoms of OI include malformed bones, short, small body, loose joints, muscle weakness,
sclera (whites of the eyes) look purple, grey or blue, triangular face, barrel shaped rib cage, curved
spine, brittle teeth, breathing problems and a collagen deficiency.
Classification
There are many ways to classify OI. The most accurate methods are the following.
In some cases, an ultrasound can identify bone abnormalities at 14 18 weeks. Cells obtained
through chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis can also be analysed for a genetic mutation.
Amount of collagen can be tested through a skin sample and genes can be tested through a blood
sample and X rays to check for bone abnormalities such as the symptoms explained earlier can be
used to diagnose.
Radiographic Features
The hallmark feature of Osteogenesis Imperfecta is fragile bones that fracture easily. Osteogenesis
Imperfecta affects both bone quality and quantity (i.e. bone mass).
History
We do not know for certain about when OI started. Perhaps when sin entered the world but we do
know that it has been around for a long time as you can see in these pictures. http:/

The Edible Woman: Notes
Gender Roles
But instead I heard a soft flannelly voice I barely recognized, saying, I d rather have you decide
that. I d rather leave the big decisions up to you. I was astounded at myself (Atwood 98). o Marian
s problem with marrying Peter is she does not want to lose her independence because she thinks he
will consume her. Marriage will force Marian to become a submissive wife, which is a role
assigned to females by society. The day Mariam got engaged, she became powerless and Peter
became the dominant person in the relationship. She is alienated and creates false self according to
Peter and society s expectations of her.
Her feminine role and her core are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her feeling of being consumed made her lose her appetite, which resulted in her independence and
freedom. Quote: You ve been trying to destroy me, haven t you, she said. You ve been trying to
assimilate me. But I ve made you a substitute, something you ll like much better (301).
Women struggle with their sense of self when they are expected to follow what society has
established for them. o Societal standards can be the opposite of what one believes. By
conforming to these standard, one s true identity is altered. Quote: But instead I heard a soft

Feminine stereotypes make women feel powerless. o Many feminine stereotypes involve females
to be submissive to males. This gives males all power over females, therefore leaving them
powerless. Quote: She had fallen into the habit in the last month or so of letting him choose for

Stick Figures In Australia
For the Australian fairy tale, it has been a long journey in search of nationhood identity. With the
enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the
landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales.
Through the history of Australian literary culture, the mythology of the bush tradition has been a
powerful voice in the Australian cultural context, which continues to have strong force in creating
national identity. However, it has become an inaccurate form of cultural identity. Here I will show
how the texts The Gown of Cobweb Lace in Peg Maltbys collection Peg s Fairy book and Stick
Figures in Tales of Outter Suburbia by Shaun Tan, illuminates the evolution of illustration in the
fairy tales which seems to have recorded the social history that has not been described in any other
form, exploring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In one the lone stick figure stands in at the end of the alleyway, all lines of the fence and pathway
drawing the intended readers attention towards it (Tan, 68). The other, the creatures possessing
humanistic qualities, as the three stick figures hold hands, showing a sense of quest to find their
place in society, pulling together a sense of the urban landscape that is disconnected from the
natural elements of the bush, that was smothered in pegs tale the gown of cobweb lace .
It is clear within Stick Figures the world around them has evolved, and they are the ones that are
out of place and do not belong, however, there is a clear message of self reflection as the stick
figures cause their abusers to question their own existence its as if they take all our questions and
offer them straight back. Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want? (Tan, 69). The
alienation of these creatures draws upon a sense of ownership, somewhat reflecting the historic
implications that got us to Australia in the first

Making a Suitable Environment for Your Disabled Child
Children with disabilities will make a significant improvement in their skills if they live in
comprehensive and inclusive environment for them. Inclusive environment will benefit the child in
several ways. The primary goal of creating an inclusive environment is to involve the disabled child
with their peers, family, and the outside world. The suitable environment will support them by
making modification and training on their behavior and attitude. Therefore, they will be prepared
to life s experiences and daily life activities.
A special needs child s early years are different as his later years. Inclusive environment is what
makes the difference in the child s development. The development is achieved through several
settings and strategies. Home environment and interaction with the family will build a strong base
of personality and behavioral aspects for the child s first years. Afterward school environment starts
to intervene and affect a child s intellectual and learning skills. As well as a playground and
activities which include social communication and behavior skills. Therefore, providing facilities
and inclusive environment for disabled children will make them learn to interact with non disabled
children and develop their skills. A suitable environment for special needs children is created in the
school, house, and playground.
First, school is the main source for promoting skills for disabled children. The school environment
which includes techniques or

Ethanol Fuel
Scientists are constantly looking for new and more efficient alternatives for fuel. Not only are these
for environmental purposes, but because of depleting fuel levels caused by over consumption. One
common substitute for fuel commonly ??? made of crude oil or petroleum is ethanol fuel. This fuel,
also know as ethyl alcohol, is created by the fermentation and distillation of corn. There are three
main advantages and disadvantages when contemplating the use of this alternative fuel.
First, although not popular in North America, it is possible to run cars on fuel containing pure
ethanol. This is evident with ethanol derived from the readily available sugarcane in Brazil.
Manufacturing vehicles that run on one hundred percent ethanol ... Show more content on

Primarily, ethanol containing fuels sold commercially are almost always mixed with gasoline. These
gasoline ethanol blends either contain only ten percent ethanol or eighty five percent ethanol and
are only compatible with cars that contain special fuel systems. So although reducing, ethanol is not
eliminating the use of petroleum in transportation. Next, another factor making ethanol
undesirable is its fuel efficiency and availability. Approximately one third more ethanol is
necessary to travel the same distance as gasoline and fueling stations are much less prevalent.
MORE SPARSE?. So, while initially the fuel cost is lower than that of pure gasoline, consumers
are usually spending the same amount for fuel. The similar cost makes the hassle to find these
fuel stations less justified worthwhile?? for consumers. Finally, if ethanol use and production
becomes more extensive, it could affect global food and water supplies. More crops and farmland
would be converted to produce ethanol, leaving less for food consumption. This would not only
increase the use of pesticides and fertilizers but reduce water availability due to this nutrient
needy? crop. This increased use of pesticides and fertilizers contributes to water and soil
contamination with runoff, including lake, river, and drinking water. With reduced crops and fewer
water supplies, prices of foods containing corn could

The Tortoise And The Hare Summary
The Theme Of The Tortoise And The Hare
Pride, it is a feeling that we all get every once and a while. There is something about pride that
can make us feel like we are just on top of the world. Although this feeling can be nice it can also
be extremely horrible. In Aesop s fable The Tortoise And The Hare
, Aesop gives many examples of
how pride can be a very bad thing. The characteristics of pride can be very cruel and even
sometimes hurtful. People have had a sense of pride since the creation of man and it is also very
common in the bible. It is something that is very common in the world today and it is something
we should all be aware of.
Think about it, when was the last time you were extremely prideful and were very blatant about
it? It happens to all of us and it is very common with the world we live in today. In the story The
Tortoise And The Hare, Aesop shows us how pride can be very unpleasant and sometimes even
harm ourselves. For example when Aesop says: Hare ran down the road for a while and then
and paused to rest. He looked back at Slow and Steady and cried out, How do you expect to win
this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace? .Hare stretched himself out
alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, There is plenty of time to relax. (1). This shows us
how the hare was mocking slow and steady because of how slow he was going. The hare thought
that he would have enough time to rest and relax, while the tortoise caught up. He

Parent Child Relationship Essay
How Parents can Better Love Understand Their Kids
Theresa Gusler
Liberty University

Abstract
This paper is about showing your children that you love them by promoting boundaries. It will
explain what kids really want their parents know and understand. This paper also gets down to the
basics of how to be a beacon of hope in this dark world. Show how to help our children maneuver
through troubling situations by giving them positive values to fall back on. Love is the common
thread which binds us together and without love, boundaries and discipline would not succeed the
way it is meant to. This paper looks at different ways to be active at home, how to have a joy filled

Ziglar also said, A solid foundation for children involves a solid moral base meaning...you need to
practice what you preach.
You need to look for and expect good from your children, stop looking at the bad and negative
things and look for the good and positive in them and they will bloom (Ziglar, 1998, p. 51). Be
specific when you find something good in your child, tell them what it is exactly and continue to
lift them up.
Being Available as an EmotionCoach
According to Gottman (1997),
We need to help our kids deal with their emotions by being their emotion coaches and we do that
with five steps 1) by being aware of their emotion, 2) recognize the emotion as a time for intimacy
and teaching, 3) listen to them and validate their feelings, 4) help label the emotion with words and
5) set limits while finding ways to solve the problem (p.24).
In step one, the focus is on recognizing when you are feeling an emotion, you can identify the
feelings, and you are able to be sensitive to emotions in others (p. 76). Step two, when parents can
use a negative experience to bring forth bonding with their children it builds intimacy and it teaches
them how to deal with their feelings (p.93). During step three, two things take place, listening
empathetically and validating the child s feelings. Gottman suggests that this may be the most
important step in emotion coaching! Not only are you listening with your ears, but you are

Bolivar s End Of The Second Republic
Bolivar returned to fight another day in 1813. He declared a war to the death against Spain. He
gained support from Colombia and drove the Spanish out of the Magdalena River area and
amassed himself a large army. Civilian leaders in Cartagena then gave him permission to
liberate western Venezuela. He did so and continued to take Caracas in August of 1813. This
was known as Simon Bolivar s Admiral Campaign . He went on to declare a second republic and
assumed his role as a military dictator. The Second Republic collapsed within a few months,
however, because Bolivar had failed to win the support of the non white, many of whom were
instead recruited to fight with those loyal to the king. What also led to the fall of the Second
Republic was the Infernal Legion that consisted of skilled lancers claiming to give back to the
poor and loyal to Spain. Led by Thomas Boves they fought the patriots, under General Jose Felix
Ribas, at the battle of La Puerta where Boves won. General Ribas was able to keep him out of
Caracas until the second battle of La Puerta June 1814 where the patriot army was in disarray and
devastation. Boves took Valencia and then Caracas bringing a fall to the Second Republic of
Venezuela. After the defeat, Bolivar returned to New Grenada until 1815. Under the Second
Republic Bolivar and his war to the death killed any Spaniard he came across if they were not
active on the patriot side creating the bloodiest part of this revolution. Therefore

method. Buchholz s article is organized in the order that the scientific method occurs to ensure that
his results are valid results. Before beginning the experiment, he asked a question; Should infected
females be more or less choosy? (Buchholz). After proposing the question, Buchholz proposed two
alternative hypothesis to his question before beginning his article. In the introduction, Buchholz
introduced his experiment by describing the type of parasite that was going to be used to infect his

In the statistical analysis, Buchholz told how to calculate specific numbers for the data and
introduced four dependent variables that indicated variation in female sampling behavior
(Buchholz). The four dependent variables included: proportion of trial time spent sampling males,
the number of males visited, mean time with sampled males, and time preference function for male
snood length (Buchholz). After the data had been collected from the apparatus and the statistical
analysis, Buchholz discussed his results of the experiment. The results of the experiment concluded
that whether a female was infected or not did not affect the likelihood of mating nor was the time
that it took to look for a mate different between infected and non infected turkeys (Buchholz). The
experiment also concluded that the rate of activity in the female treatment groups did not differ
(Buchholz). In conclusion, Buchholz found that body condition did not have a significant direct

Summary Of Jules Verne s France
Noah Lewis
Mrs. Cavolt
LA III Honors
XX November 2016
PLACEHOLDER TITLE
Jules Verne, of France, was a prominent author who produced over 60 novels along with multiple
plays and short stories. Verne was born in February of 1828, amidst the Industrial Revolution, in a
port city called Nantes. An environment like this undoubtedly helped to spark Verne s near
unquenchable desire for adventure and travel, a key component of his life until its end in 1905.
However, Jules Verneexperienced his share of bumps and potholes on his road to glory. Verne
had moved to Paris to get a degree in law, but shortly after he ended up working in the arts even
with pressure from his parents to continue his studies. With that door eventually closing Verne
took up a job as a secretary and even a stockbroker to support himself and his family. Finally

Ma takes the lead in many situations and Pa respects, and maybe even fears her opinions. Ma commandeers decision making and often causes conflicts with her strong beliefs. This passage conveys the dynamic of their relationship very early on in the book: Pa broke in, But s pose there just ain t room? He had twisted his neck to look up at her, and he was ashamed. Her tone had made him ashamed. [...] She stopped, and Pa turned back, and his spirit was raw from the whipping. (Steinbeck 132) Not only does Pa look to Ma for advice, but he also notices that she has a higher authority over the family than he does. This essay will start out with giving a brief history of the topic and discuss about the issue of the Army M4. Pro and cons on how to replace the weapons system would affect soldier maneuverability and combat effectiveness. There have been many upgrades and negative complaints from the soldiers down range in regards to the M16/M4 since it s been used within the Army. Within the past 20 years, the Army spent a lot of money on the M4 carbine program, but Congress didn t approve. They still certain that the M4 is a superior weapon against enemies (Freedberg, 2013). A major concerned with the M4 is that the M4 is prone to jamming and malfunctioning due to fouling. Fouling is caused by carbon residue build up in the weapon system. In combat situations the M4 has been unreliable, because the weapon misfires. M4 malfunctions include failure to fire, failure to eject, failure to chamber a round, and failure to feed. The Army conduct a dust test in 2007 for testing M4A1 reliability. The Army testers and engineers selected ten M4s and three other weapon systems shot 6000 rounds in the dust chamber. M4 has 683 stoppages and perform the worst against other weapons. In other words, the M4 jammed every 68 rounds (Lowes, 2007). The other selected weapons are the Heckler Koch 416, XM8, and the FN SCAR. (Lowes, 2007). The XM8 jammed every 472 rounds and the HK 416 jammed every 257 rounds. The XM8 has the lowest stoppage rate. If the Army adopted one of these three weapons, it will significantly increases reliabilities in the combat zone. The second issue with the M4A1 is also closely related to malfunction. The M4 is easy to overheat after prolonged firing. There s two factors that cause this problem. The first factor is the high pressure and high velocity round shooting out from the barrel. Both Les Miserables and The Kite Runner can be juxtaposed to show power, what it is, and what it can be used for. Les Miserables and The Kite Runner show that power is subjective, and has many different interpretations. Merriam Webster dictionary has many definitions of power. Power could be considered the ability to produce an effect, or physical might, or even possession of control, authority, or influence over others. Wealth is a form of power. We see two different elements of this in both selections of literature. In Les Miserables, Jean Valjean, the former convict, uses wealth that he acquires under the name Mayor Madeleine to provide jobs for his constituents in a factory that he owns. Valjean used his power through wealth to empower many others to make their own wealth. This use of power is noble and just. Instead of giving others money or gifts, he gives them the gift of empowering themselves through sustainable work. This is a redeeming moment of Jean Valjean s character, contrasting his past as a convict.Baba is the father of Amir, the protagonist in The Kite Runner. Long Day s Journey into Night is a semi autobiographical story written by Eugene O Neill roughly on 1941 1942. The play concerns the Tyrone family which were composed of parents James and Mary and their sons Jamie and Edmund. Mary and Jamie were each addicted to morphine and alcohol, respectively. The story deals with the family s addiction to whiskey, the father parsimony, the mother s addiction to morphine, and the younger son s illness. The foghorn was obnoxious and harsh to Mary, and that is why she did not like it. Another example that explains that the metaphor fog, in this play, represented the lost or confusion life is Edmund s expression. Edmund indicated the idea that the fog was a flee from reality when he said, The fog is where I wanted to be. Edmund experienced his retreat into the fog with the help of alcohol so did Mary with the morphine. Edmund s lost, confusion, and the disconnected from the environment were explicitly shown from his feeling. However, his family could not read what he was experiencing because all of them were either drunk or on drugs like his mother. Moreover, Edmund used the sea and fog as metaphors of how close he feels to his loneliness. He said, As if I was a ghost belonging to the fog, and the fig was the ghost of the sea. It felt to damned peaceful to be nothing more than the ghost within the ghost. (Act fourth, O Neill) The father was partly blamed of all the crisis that the family had. Gender Issues Faced By Women Union Membership Essay As women continue gaining equal representation within the workforce, it should be unsurprising that women also are steadily gaining ground within union membership. As women union membership increases, we would also expect women in roles of union leadership to also increase. This is an important metric to examine, as there are several gender specific work related issues that women would benefit from being prioritized. Women consistently see lower wages for the same work, fewer promotion opportunities, and the added stress of childcare responsibilities typically relegated to mothers. It is possible, therefore, that women look to union leadership to account for these needs. • 24. Blood Typing And The Blood Of The Donor Blood INTRODUCTION: Blood typing is one of the tests that will determine a person s blood type. Although, all blood is made of the same basic elements but they are not same by their blood typing. In fact, there are eight different common blood types. Based on certain substances of antigen presence or absence and Rh factors we will able to identify the person blood types. Those substances can trigger an immune response if they are foreign to the body. Blood typing is important when you need a blood transfusion or planning to have an organ transplant. As we know not all blood types are compatible due to their antigen and antibodies they have. Since some antigens can react with person immune system to attack the donor blood, It is very important to know the person s blood typing and cross matching to ensure that your body doesn t make antibodies to attack the donor blood or organ. Blood typing is especially important to pregnant mothers when the mother is Rh and the father has Rh+ and a child born with Rh positive. So, it is important to be an early cautious in order to avoid reactive consequences. In the medical sector small mistake can take patient life. In this lab experiment though using the anti A serum, anti B serum, and anti Rh serum, we were able to identify the blood types of each sample that we had. I had to reread this short story, because I missed important pieces the first time. The reason the gang wants to hurt Thomas or Old Misery is because he gave the gang what he said was chocolate, and in reality it was not. This made the gang think Thomas was trying to be smart with them, and the gang said they would get even. The gang then chose to do this by destroying the man s house. Classification There are many ways to classify OI. The most accurate methods are the following. In some cases, an ultrasound can identify bone abnormalities at 14 18 weeks. Cells obtained through chorionic villus sampling or amniocentesis can also be analysed for a genetic mutation. Amount of collagen can be tested through a skin sample and genes can be tested through a blood sample and X rays to check for bone abnormalities such as the symptoms explained earlier can be used to diagnose. Radiographic Features The hallmark feature of Osteogenesis Imperfecta is fragile bones that fracture easily. Osteogenesis Imperfecta affects both bone quality and quantity (i.e. bone mass). With the enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales. Through the history of Australian literary culture, the mythology of the bush tradition has been a powerful voice in the Australian cultural context, which continues to have strong force in creating national identity. However, it has become an inaccurate form of cultural identity. Not only are these for environmental purposes, but because of depleting fuel levels caused by over consumption. One common substitute for fuel commonly ??? made of crude oil or petroleum is ethanol fuel. This fuel, also know as ethyl alcohol, is created by the fermentation and distillation of corn. There are three main advantages and disadvantages when contemplating the use of this alternative fuel. Primarily, ethanol containing fuels sold commercially are almost always mixed with gasoline. These gasoline ethanol blends either contain only ten percent ethanol or eighty five percent ethanol and are only compatible with cars that contain special fuel systems. So although reducing, ethanol is not eliminating the use of petroleum in transportation. Next, another factor making ethanol undesirable is its fuel efficiency and availability. Approximately one third more ethanol is necessary to travel the same distance as gasoline and fueling stations are much less prevalent. MORE SPARSE?. So, while initially the fuel cost is lower than that of pure gasoline, consumers are usually spending the same amount for fuel. The similar cost makes the hassle to find these fuel stations less justified worthwhile?? for consumers. There is something about pride that can make us feel like we are just on top of the world. Although this feeling can be nice it can also be extremely horrible. In Aesop s fable The Tortoise And The Hare , Aesop gives many examples of how pride can be a very bad thing. The characteristics of pride can be very cruel and even sometimes hurtful. People have had a sense of pride since the creation of man and it is also very common in the bible. It is something that is very common in the world today and it is something we should all be aware of. Think about it, when was the last time you were extremely prideful and were very blatant about it? It happens to all of us and it is very common with the world we live in today. In the story The Tortoise And The Hare, Aesop shows us how pride can be very unpleasant and sometimes even harm ourselves. For example when Aesop says: Hare ran down the road for a while and then and paused to rest. He looked back at Slow and Steady and cried out, How do you expect to win this race when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace? .Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep, thinking, There is plenty of time to relax. Be specific when you find something good in your child, tell them what it is exactly and continue to lift them up. Being Available as an EmotionCoach According to Gottman (1997), We need to help our kids deal with their emotions by being their emotion coaches and we do that with five steps 1) by being aware of their emotion, 2) recognize the emotion as a time for intimacy and teaching, 3) listen to them and validate their feelings, 4) help label the emotion with words and 5) set limits while finding ways to solve the problem (p.24). In step one, the focus is on recognizing when you are feeling an emotion, you can identify the feelings, and you are able to be sensitive to emotions in others (p. 76). Step two, when parents can use a negative experience to bring forth bonding with their children it builds intimacy and it teaches them how to deal with their feelings (p.93). During step three, two things take place, listening empathetically and validating the child s feelings. Gottman suggests that this may be the most important step in emotion coaching! He went on to declare a second republic and assumed his role as a military dictator. The Second Republic collapsed within a few months, however, because Bolivar had failed to win the support of the non white, many of whom were instead recruited to fight with those loyal to the king. Verne was born in February of 1828, amidst the Industrial Revolution, in a port city called Nantes. An environment like this undoubtedly helped to spark Verne s near unquenchable desire for adventure and travel, a key component of his life until its end in 1905.
