Examples Of Metaphysical Poetry
The term Metaphysical Poet was first used by John Dryden and later coined by Samuel Johnson in the
20th century. The term was used for the poets of the 17th century, it was a period of intense ferment in
all areas of life religion, science, politics, domestic relations, culture. Metaphysical literally means to
transcend above or beyond the physical world in order to gain perspective. The term permanently got
associated to poets like John Donne, Andrew Marvel, Henry Vaughan, Richard Crashaw, and George
Herbert. Their writings were a deliberate reaction against the 16th century verses which were smooth
and had a sweet tone. The Metaphysical Poets, therefore, adopted an uneven, rigorous and energetic
tone and were concerned with man s experience; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They used very vivid imagery in the poems, besides being richly sensuous. For example in The
Bermudas the poet uses the images of the bright oranges that shine in the shade of trees like golden
lamps in a green night . The pomegranates are described richer than the jewels. The islands are
imagined as riding the ocean s bosom . The listening winds receive the song being sung by the
pilgrims. The phrase, the watery maze is by itself admirably as conveying the idea that the pilgrims
could have been lost on the sea, not knowing the direction in which to sail. One of the most vivid
images is that of the whales which seem to carry the ocean upon their backs but which can be
destroyed by the power of God: He the huge sea monsters wracks,/ That lift the deep upon their backs.
The imagery in The Garden is very pastoral, it could be a reference to the garden of Eden. Unlike
other metaphysical poets, Marvell derives some of it from classical reference, such as the myths of
Apollo and Pan. The speaker then presents an image of his soul detaching from his body, but
remaining in the garden. The image suggests that during the soul s time on Earth, it is possible for it to
transcend some of the physical body s limitations, as we see in the speaker s previous contemplation
of a green thought in a green

The Paris Climate Agreement
The world s nations have already struggled to combat climate change and reduce global emissions. On
Thursday, June 1st, 2017 President Trump announce that the United States would officially withdraw
from the Paris climate agreement. Following through on his campaign promise, and defying the
wishes of other world leaders who pleaded with him to remain a party in the pact. Governing with an
American First policy, he said he was carrying out the will of the voters. I was elected by the citizens

We re getting out, he said. And we will start to renegotiate and we ll see if there s a better deal. If we
can, great. If we can t, that s fine.
After his announcement leaders around the world issued a joint statement that the United States
couldn t unilaterally renegotiate the agreement. The statement which came from France, Italy and
Germany said it cannot be renegotiated based on the request of a single party. Additionally, White
House Officials won t specify what parameters President Trump would accept in a new accord.
President Trump also announced that he would end the implementation of carbon reduction targets
previously set up by the Obama administration, which aimed to reduce emissions by 27% over the
next decade. Additionally, that the United States will stop all contributions to the United Nations
Green Climate Fund. Previously, President Trump said these contributions were costing the United
States a fortune. Through these measures, it has become clear that the Trump administration will keep
pushing to dismantle domestic climate policies.
Withdrawing from the agreement won t mean the end of all domestic efforts to address climate
change. It is now up to states, like New York and California to keep pursuing their own programs to
reduce emissions. Furthermore, the private sector is continuing to shift towards cleaner energy

Modern And Capable Armed Forces
Maintaining modern and capable armed forces is not an easy task. One of the most important tasks for
a country, state and society is to defend itself against attackers and other threats. Military force, as
Clausewitz made explicit, is not an end in itself and it only has meaning in relation to the future
desired political landscape. When internal political institutions function normally, the wielders of
sovereign power are the natural arbiters of last resort among competing interests and values in the
policy, including the subordination of the military to the highest political authorities.
Armed Forces of a country should be designed to fulfil all tasks given to them from political
authorities. Each country develops its armed forces based on specific conditions and requirements
drawn from national security policy and as stated in national security and national defense strategies.
National security strategy is aimed to enhance the safety of the nation s economic, social and political
institutions against different threats. Strategies also deal with complex and diverse security challenges,
like proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, climate change and migrations. To accomplish and
safeguard their own security, states are trying to depend on national resources and also through the
various international organizations and alliances.
Defense policy covers the military domain and involves quantitative issues of the size, recruitment and
supply of the military forces,

Zappos
1. The original business model for Zappos was the drop ship model which is being the middle man
(Brady, 2010). The easiest way to think about a drop ship business model is to think about your own
retail web based or mail order business. In many ways they work the same. An order with payment
comes in, is processed and then shipped to the purchaser. In both your retail environment and in the
drop ship environment, the person receiving the package is your customer. The only difference to the
customer is that in the one instance, the product is shipped directly from your location and in the other
instance; the product is shipped from another location. (Steve, 2009). Over the past several years, drop
shipping has emerged as the go to strategy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We ve aligned the entire organization around one mission: to provide the best customer service
possible . At Zappos it s all about customer service and this was and still is their main strength. Zappo
is very good at applying the 4P s with the 4 C s that Porter talks about in our lecture. They even have
an application for smart phone to make sure that their customer can buy even with their phones. With
this model I believe that they can sustain their popularity and especially as long as they keep giving to
their customer s great experiences and products that they need for the best price. Last but not least, the
company trains and exposes all its recruits to customer service regardless of their position. They also
encourage innovation by motivating its employees to come up with passionate ideas which they go
ahead and which help the sustainability of its customer service implement (Milligan amp; Smith,
2011).
4. Zappos s new model that is based on loyalty and relationship marketing made the company make 1

clothing and apparel to the site is definitely a great move knowing that the apparel market of is 4 times

Political Spectacle Analysis
Exercise 1: Political Spectacle Asha McWilliams In Constructing the Political Spectacle, Edelman
outlines the elements with which politicians manipulate the public to meet their goals. In his 2018
State of the Union Address, President Trump effectively uses these very elements. The following
analysis will discuss how President Trump address three elements of the political spectacle: the
construction of enemies and leaders, the use of problems and solutions, and the manipulation of the
audience s underlying ideologies. In order to fully understand the analysis to follow, a few core
concepts must first be defined. Most importantly, one must have a strong grasp on just what the
political spectacle is. According to Edelman, Accounts of political ... Show more content on

Such language has been effective in perpetuating Trump s status as a leader because of its inherent
ambiguity. Edelman outlines how using ambiguous language is effective for gathering followers by
stating that The favored strategy is ambiguity, which avoids offending those who might find a clear
promise offensive [and] encourages everyone to read their own preferences into the language
(Edelman, 1988, p. 50). Thus, Trump s famous make America great again phrase has been so effective
because no one wants to disagree with its basic premise: everyone wants America to be a great nation.
However, difficulty may arise when one is forced to define just what exactly great is. The beauty of
the ambiguity allowing multiple interpretations and generating a mass initial following can quickly
turn sinister when one is forced to clarify their

Frida Kahlo
At one point or another, we all have been exposed to unconventional woman in art who has been more
recognizable by her signature unibrow and flower headdresses. This woman is known as Frida Kahlo,
a well known Mexican American surrealist artist who went through many struggles in dealings with a
challenging upbringing in a time of revolution and a lifetime of pain. But with a challenge, there is
also strength. Kahlo possessed many strengths that allowed her to prevail against these factors that
went against her and become an icon in art.
Born on July 6, 1907 in Coyocoán, Mexico, Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón or more
known as Frida Kahlo (Herrera, 1983, pp. 10). She was born to her parents Guilermo and Matilda
Kahlo, being their third daughter (Smith, 1999, pp. 206). But three years after Kahlo s birth, the
Mexican Revolution of 1910 began (Herrera, 1983, pp. 11) due to the corrupt nature of Mexico s
government at the time; more exact was with the former President/Dictator Porfirio Díaz, who was in
power to a time of 34 years (Merrill Miró, 2011). According to Merrill and Miró (2011), Díaz violated
several principles in the Constitution of 1857 and The Mexican Revolution intent was to create a more
democratic Mexico and establishing limits to presidential terms to prevent what occurred with Díaz.
On May 25th, 1911, President Díaz had resigned and left to France after months of revolution again

Employee Strengths And Decision Making Strategies
Employee Strengths in Decision Making Strategies
Different individuals in a work environment possess various unique strengths which can be applied in
making effective work related decisions. Participating in the Strengths Finder Test would therefore
help employees to identify what they are good at and how they can use it for the benefit of the
company. This paper will focus on developing a training tool that can be used by the management to
coach the employees on how to use their unique strengths in making decisions. Some of the strengths
that individual employees may possess include flexibility, creativity, teamwork, communication and
interpersonal skills, dependability and leadership among others.

Decision making process depends on the trust build between members of the team. In the absence of
trust, members will always be suspicious of decisions or suggestions made by other members of the
team resulting to challenges in making sound business decisions.
Teamwork and creativity among employees also play a major role in the decision making process. To
begin with teamwork, members ought to be in unison and direct all their efforts, knowledge and skills
towards achieving specific goals set by management. The process of bringing this team together
involves various business decisions which require teamwork. All members of the team for instance
should agree to work together in order to form an effective team. The success of the team will also be
pinned on the creativity and innovative abilities of the individual members forming the team (Phillips
Gully, 2013). The modern business environment is very dynamic and therefore requires a creative and
innovative team to make the complex decisions in the dynamic environment. It is therefore clear that
the personal strength of each employee in a modern work environment plays major role in the decision
making process.
Managers have a role to play in developing their employees to utilize their strengths in decision
making processes. Their role involves providing a conducive environment in the work places for
employees to use their strengths to develop courses of action that solve a variety of the management

Male tusks are used for fighting with another bull over the right to mate with another female and to

that Paul is afraid of Erik and is scared of what he might do.
After the sinkhole, Paul is a changed person. He now realizes he can play soccer for Tangerine Middle

because he can play soccer at Tangerine Middle School. Paul is also braver now. On page 82 it says
Joey and I dug our heels into the mud about halfway down toward the bottom of the hole . This shows
that Paul is being braver and helping people get out of the sinkhole. Lastly, Paul isn t as much of a

shows that Paul isn t as much of coward after the sinkhole.
As you can see Paul changes from the sinkhole. After the sinkhole Paul realizes he can play soccer, he

Since I moved from Italy to the U.S. I made many cultural mistakes, took cultures for granted,
assigned stereotypes to people, misinterpreted conversations, and situations. I can still remember the
time when I smiled and hugged my Japanese friend to sooth away her aches. We were at the park with
our kids, and she was hit, right in the face, by my three years old son s soccer ball. My friend s
reaction to my gentle hug was quite surprising. Instead of hugging me back, she strongly pushed me
away, and told me to stop threatening her. After that episode we didn t speak to each other for weeks.
We were both really upset and confused. What went wrong between us? At that time, I didn t know
that Japanese people are reserved, shy, tend to control their feelings, and smile when they are angry.
On the other hand, my friend didn t know that Italians are extremely expressive when it comes to their
emotions, and consider smiling and hugging positive manifestations of feelings. When I smiled and
hugged my friend I made such a preventable mistake! I should have ask her if she needed a hug,
before hugging her. I should have been more aware of her feelings, and less about mine. I should have
known better. At that time my CQ was probably nonexistent! Cultural intelligence, or CQ, is a person

My Budget Variance
The baseline I have set out for my budget worked very well for me in the past month, but this month
there was a large kink in it. There were just a couple different kinds of variances I met when adding up
the totals of my real spending this month. When I was analyzing my budget, I went through and
determined if the budget variances I had were good or bad for my needs. Most of my budget variances
were positive except for one major one. What I mean by this is a good budget variance signified to me
an outcome that was better than I expected. This one large bad budget variance I had consisted within
my doctor s expenses budget. The reason I had such a large variance of almost one thousand one
hundred dollars within my doctor s expenses is because I had to have surgery on my shoulder, and that
was the amount of the co pay. Within my budget I set an amount for my gas, clothing, and dining out,
but it varies from month to month. For ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The one way my budget allowed me to pay for the unexpected outcome was because of the variances,
savings, and emergency fund I had. Although I went under the set amount in my budget in several
different categories it was not enough to cover my unexpected expense of surgery. This resulted in
having to use those separate accounts of savings and emergency funds to compensate for the
unexpected expenses rather than going into debt further. Along with this I was unable to save ten
percent of my budget this month because as I expressed above all off my existing savings and
emergency fund went towards the procedure I had to have done. This was extremely disappointing
because for as long as I can remember I have been religious about depositing at least ten percent into
my savings no matter what, but as I was analyzing my situation this was the only way to make it
happen other than going into debt with a

A Contract Is An Agreement Between Two Or More Persons,...
A contract is an agreement between two or more persons, and is voluntary within Scots Law. It is one
of two types of obligations, the other, a Promise. To form a contract, all parties entering must have the
capacity meaning they must be sane under the terms stated within the law. Those entering must be
fully aware of what they are undertaking, having a sound understanding of the contracts terms. A
contract has two principles that must take place for it to be finalized an offer and an acceptance. One
of the parties makes the offer to the other to enter a legally binding contract under offerors terms. The
offeree (party receiving the offer) must agree to the stated terms for a contract to be formed, if they do
not and attempt to change any terms then no contract is formed. If both elements do not take place,
then under the law no contract has been formed. Multiple offers with different terms can be made
before any acceptance is given, most likely because the parties are trying to come to an agreement of
the contractual terms. For a contract to be formed, there must be consensus in Idem, Latin for a
meeting of the minds all important elements of the contract must be met during this. All parties must
be aware of the same things and to carry out their side of the contract. The parties must fully
understand that by entering the contract they agree to being bound by the terms of the contract. An

It is essentially a prescriptive grammar, i.e., an authority that defines (rather than describes) correct
Sanskrit, although it contains descriptive parts, mostly to account for some Vedic forms the use of
which had become rare in Pāṇini s time.
The term Sanskrit was not thought of as a specific language set apart from other languages, but rather
as a particularly refined or perfected manner of speaking. Knowledge of Sanskrit was a marker of
social class and educational attainment in ancient India and the language was taught mainly to

The Death Of The Pregnancy Test Essay
Many women find themselves in situations that leave them with an unwanted pregnancy and abort
their baby. The cause of abortion could simply be a birth control failure, from rape or incest, inability
to take care of the child, or in most cases, pressure from others. Whatever the case may be, these
women have chosen to get rid of their child, without thinking of the consequences after it is done.
After a mother chooses to abort her baby, she will be greatly affected psychologically and could
possibly change her and her future family s life forever.
Before the procedure is done, the mother of the child is positive about her decision, unaware of the
mental experiences she will be going through. Nonetheless, after the operation is done, the mother will
experience personal shame that could result in repressed grief, causing serious problems.
The anxiety over the unwanted pregnancy; the drama of the pregnancy test; often, the difficulty of
making the decision, then the waiting before the abortion can take place; perhaps protesters in front of
the clinic; the abortion clinic waiting room, crowded perhaps with other emotional women and men;
the abortion itself the doctors and nurses, the stirrups, the vacuum or other machinery then the
recovery room; the pain and bleeding afterward. All these dramatic experiences are likely to provide
her with indelible memories. A woman may return to them and relive them over and over. (Vitz 1)
In other words, the mother of the child could develop

It Is Hard to Possess a Sense of Belonging When We Are...
The journey in finding our identity and belonging can often be a struggle, since we ask ourselves, who
am I vs. whom do others want me to be? And where do I belong? This point in our live is subjective,
because we want to feel accepted in society we deny ourselves of what we really are. It s hard to have
a sense of belonging when we ourselves are unsure of our own identity. There comes a time where our
opinions and beliefs are differentiated from those around us, during this time some people may

Literary Interpretation In The Birth-Mark
The Birth Mark is a story about a husband, Aylmer, who looks at his wife, Georgiana, as imperfection,
due to the mark on her left cheek. The setting of the story was based in the late 1700s, between the
laboratory and a boudoir. In the story, a lot of detail goes into the laboratory and the boudoir that help
characterize them and help give the overall metaphor at the end of the story. The details of both places
show the effort Georgiana is going through to satisfy Aylmer. It also helps one visualize what setting
they are in, also, how it disturbs the project at hand. If one were to be an allegorical reader, it would
present the ruin Aylmer is putting Georgiana through. In the story, figurative speech supports the
setting by specifying what the places are and where they occur. The lab was classified as depressing,
gloomy, and dark while Georgiana s boudoir is bright and airy. The mood setting of a place is
figurative speech. The central metaphor of the story is the name given to it, The Birth Mark.
Georgiana was not only beautiful but she had a birthmark on her which makes her stands of from
other girls. It makes her unique in some ways. The one person who not wanting to accept this mark on
her face is Aylmer, he husband. He claims to not be able to accept this distinguishing trait about
Georgiana so he tries to take away this factor on her face that makes other stare. This gives us the idea
to take this birthmark as the metaphor in the story. This stands for

Essay On Quitclaim Deed
The quitclaim deed holds the statement that the person named (and whose signature the property
bears) has quit ownership of the property listed and conveys it to the person who holds the quitclaim
deed (grantee). The quitclaim offers no guarantee. In fact, someone with no ownership whatsoever is
able to file a quitclaim on a property. This is usually done with the intent to commit fraud by selling
someone zero ownership to a piece of property. If the claim is wrong, there is no legal remedy. The
one holding the fraudulent quitclaim is simply left with no ownership for their money spent.
In some instances the quitclaim deed will pop up in connection to mortgages that have a cosigner.
When someone cosigns for a loan, they are agreeing that their financial position can be used along
with others on the loan, to qualify for financing. Co signers on a loan can each be held solely
responsible for the balance of the loan.
When a mortgage is held by one individual and cosigned by another, bankruptcy can leave confusion

debt, they are no longer liable. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the co signers quitclaims the property, the remaining cosigners are left with the rights as well as the

loan. The cosigner who quitclaimed will still own that portion and hold the financial obligation
associated with it. If the quitclaim co signer files bankruptcy and ends up in bankruptcy court, the
quitclaim still offers little to no impact as the bankruptcy is focused on finances and liability which
have nothing to do with a quitclaim so it doesn t make much sense to file a quitclaim prior to filing for

The Pros And Cons Of Social Enempreneurship
Creation of Jobs aiming on changing business models
It is not that innovation and automation have resulted in unemployment or will lead to unemployment
instead innovation is actually intrinsic to the changing business models across the world. Today s is an
economy of innovation . We need to create innovative jobs that would complement the innovative
machines and technologies that are created. David Nordof and Vint Cerf recently in their book
Disrupting Unemployment argue that there is a need to develop a people centered rather than a task
centered economy. There is a need to create value of people rather than just focusing on lower costs of
tasks.
This essay argues that there needs to be a two fold strategy to rethink the unemployment crises taking
it away from a superficial entanglement of acronyms and arcane charts. The two fold strategy

Egyptian Influence On The Minoans
Minoan art provides insight into the culture that flourished during the Bronze age in Crete during 1900
BCE to 1375 BCE. The art of the Minoans convey a society of joyous nature, being in touch with their
environment, and in awe of the order of the natural world. Above all, the artifacts reveal a society who
had developed a high degree of self respect and a keen eye for observing and adapting to their
physical environment. Art reached its pinnacle point during the late Minoan period. They created the

U.s. Naval Base At Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor
On the morning of December 7, 1941, the Japanese dispatched an astonishment air assault on the U.S.
Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. After only two hours of bombarding, more than 2,400
Americans were dead, 21 boats had either been sunk or harmed, and more than 188 U.S. airplane
pulverized. The assault at Pearl Harbor so insulted Americans that the U.S. deserted its arrangement of
nonintervention and proclaimed war on Japan the accompanying day formally bringing the United

to proceed with their development inside Asia however the United States had put a greatly prohibitive

Information Security Awareness Among Privileged Users Of A...
Information Security Awareness Among Privileged Users of a Company
Information is the backbone of every organization and the need to aptly manage and control the
security of information is necessary for its sustainability (Kerry Lynn Rossouw, 2004). Few employees
have elevated rights on organization provided work PCs, which allow them to install or modify
applications without consent. Such actions which are against the organization s information security
policies may lead to information security breach. Typically, the employee thinks they are insusceptible
to security attacks and an awareness is needed to prevent it. I worked as an IT Analyst for a
multinational construction company. While my job role was to provide IT solutions for the assembly
line and troubleshoot the issues, I have had a fair experience of dealing with IT related problems for
users. Especially with the users who have no prior experience in the field of IT. Users were provided
with administrative rights local to their work PCs to run the business application. This further allowed
them to install noncompliant software for their personal use. In one such incident, a user installed a
malware inadvertently and hundreds of work PCs were affected which were on the same network. The
production of the assembly line was stopped for a few hours and company had to incur the loss.
Employees should realize that they are accountable for all the actions and it is their responsibility to

Disadvantages Of Corpus Linguistics
Corpus linguistics
Corpus Linguistics (CL) is a method of operating linguistic analysis (McEnery Wilson, 2001, p1) that
facilitates empirical descriptions of language use (Biber, 2011, p15). This method is based on analysis
of Corpus ,which is a sample of different kinds of texts, such as newspaper texts, or specifically
editorials, video scripts, everyday conversation and many other types of written language (Baker,
2012, p248). Corpus Linguistics tries to establish a balanced corpus _Latin form of body_ of language
in order to represent variety of language, so that no single type of writing over represented. Corpus
Linguistics has become popular since 1990. Hence, it is often describe as being a relatively new

Systems Analyst Vs. A Business Analyst And A Software...
Many run into the problem of differentiating between a systems analyst and a business analyst and a
software developer. In fact, in a lot of places one person could do all of those jobs or one could just
not be present. These jobs in the workforce, while similar in many ways simply because they re IT
jobs, are vastly different things. Systems analyst are those who take a IT system and study it trying to
make sure everything is good. A business analyst while helping with the system, forces on making
sure that the business side of things are running properly and always looking for a way to improve
them. A software developer is there to develop the software that keeps the business running as well as
be what the other two analyst look to, to make the system. Despite their differences, these three jobs
are finely interwoven together, making them all an important part of a company and to lose one would
only set a company back. Most notably, a systems analyst and a business analyst and a software
developer differ in what their duties are, and what these jobs roles focus on. The first difference
between all threes is what their duties are in a company; while all are vital to a company, each of has
very different duties in helping a company. A systems analyst is responsible for researching, planning,
coordinating and recommending software and system choices to meet the company s needs. This
means knowing what the company needs in terms of software, meeting those who will be using it

Good And Evil In Mccarthy s The Road By Mccarthy
In the book The Road by McCarthy, McCarthy dramatizes the opposition between good and evil
however, over all The Road puts forth a positive and uplifting view of humanity. Even though there
are multiple parts throughout the book that focus on very dark and pessimistic themes, McCarthy has a
way of making the reader see darkness and pessimism a positive and uplifting theme.
Scenes in The Road are very graphic and a lot of them put a very vivid image in the reader s head.
Good or bad. Not only do the scenes affect the way you read the book, but they way he makes the
reader work for what they want. While reading this book, there was a scene that described naked
people being held hostage. Huddled against the back wall were naked people, male and female, all
trying to hide, shielding their faces with their hands. On the mattress lay a man with his legs gone to
the hip and the stumps of them blackened and burnt. (110). This line in particular puts a discrete image
in your head of what may be going on in this scene and how the bad guys may be affecting humanity.
After the little boy sees this terrible sight he asks the man We wouldn t ever eat anybody, would we?
(128). The man helps him understand why the people we re being held hostage, and why they couldn t
help them.

many points where the negative leads to the positive, and even though there has been something bad

Climbers Who Summited Everest Research Paper
Bravery doesn t mean being fearless. It means to be full of fear but still not being dominated by it.
This means that bravery is having fear, but not letting it stop you from anything. In this essay I will be
writing about three climbers who summited Everest with disabilities. Everest is the highest mountain
in the world. It rises 29,035 feet or 5.5 miles in the air. When climbing, there are dangers of
avalanches, ice, hidden cracks, storms, and crevasses. Erik Weihenmayer, Paul Hockey, and Tom

Tom Whittaker summited Everest with an amputated leg. He attempted to climb it three times and he

it. On Thanksgiving in 1979, a car crash shattered both of his legs. His right foot and lower leg had to
be amputated. He tried three times to summit Everest. On his third attempt he summited Everest in
May, 1998. He says that climbing Everest is more of a challenge and more important to him since he

Abstract Expressionism In Modern Society
During the time of the 19th and early 20th century, became a time known as modern society, known
for its modernity and time of modernism. During this time, artists were flourishing and growing into
their own skin, pushing the limits in art, never seen before. This was a time where society became
dominated by industrialization, modernization around civilization. The focus became more on
machine age life than ever before. But with machine age life came the city life, below the night lights
where new art forms developed. This was a time where the man by the name of Edward Hopper
became apart of the spotlight. Hopper was considered a realist type of artist. His imagery of figures
within urban settings goes well beyond their role as modern cityscapes, exposing the under layer of
the human experience. Though he was considered a realist, his work was during a time between the
World Wars. By considering the dramatic use of soft lighting, smallest action and representation of
smaller spaces, Hopper led the way towards Abstract Expressionism. A hot topic during this time was
discussion of work led by Willard Huntington Wright. Wright believed that, art had principles of form
and organization that could be rationally discussed and that it progressed toward a goal of purity (p.16,

Drug abuse is a very common problem in most countries so it seemed like a good topic for a list. This
is a list of ten of the most abused drugs and the effects they have on people.
1. Heroin
Heroin is an opiate processed directly from the extracts of the opium poppy. It was originally created
to help cure people of addiction to morphine. Upon crossing the blood brain barrier, which occurs
soon after introduction of the drug into the bloodstream, heroin is converted into morphine, which
mimics the action of endorphins, creating a sense of well being; the characteristic euphoria has been
described as an orgasm centered in the gut. One of the most common methods of heroin use is via

It is considered mainly a recreational drug that s often used with sex and associated with club drugs, as
an entheogen, and a tool in use to supplement various types of practices for transcendence including in
meditation, psychonautics, and illicit psychedelic psychotherapy whether self administered or not. The
primary effects of MDMA include an increased awareness of the senses, feelings of openness,
euphoria, empathy, love, happiness, heightened self awareness, feeling of mental clarity and an
increased appreciation of music and movement. Tactile sensations are enhanced for some users,
making physical contact with others more pleasurable. Other side effects, such as jaw clenching and
elevated pulse, are common.
7. Opium
Opium is a resinous narcotic formed from the latex released by lacerating (or scoring ) the immature
seed pods of opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). It contains up to 16% morphine, an opiate
alkaloid, which is most frequently processed chemically to produce heroin for the illegal drug trade.
Opium has gradually been superseded by a variety of purified, semi synthetic, and synthetic opioids
with progressively stronger effect, and by other general anesthesia. This process began in 1817, when
Friedrich Wilhelm Adam Sertürner reported the isolation of pure morphine from opium after at least
thirteen years of

Mummification Essay
Mummification is the form of embalming practiced by the ancient
Egyptians. The mummification process changed over time from the Old
Kingdom, when only kings could be mummified to the New Kingdom, in which everyone could be
mummified. The entire process of mummification to be completed took 70 days. After a body was
delivered to the per nefer, which is where the embalmers conducted their tasks. The first thing that was
done was put the deceased on a slanted table.
The first thing that needed to be removed was the soft, moist body parts that would cause decay. As
the embalmers removed these parts, blood and other bodily fluids came out and went down the table
being collected into a bowl. During the old and Middle Kingdoms, the ... Show more content on

The heart was sometimes left in the body, but other times it was removed and dried with natron. Then
it was either put back in the corpses body or placed beside it in the coffin.
After the soft body parts were removed one of the embalmers would make an incision in the left side
above the abdomen. Although this was needed to remove the organs, the Egyptians didn t like to do
this incision because they thought that it was sinful to damage a corpse. By making this incision they
took out the stomach, intestines, liver, and lungs. After they were taken out the embalmers would then
preserve it by drying them in a natural salt called natron which is now called baking soda. In the Old
Kingdom after they were dried, the embalmers would put the organs in a four chambered box made of
wood, clay, or stone. This box was stored in the mummy s tomb. Then in the Middle Kingdom, the
embalmers put each organ in a separate container called a canopic jar. The stoppers of the jars were
carved o look like the face of the dead person. Then in the New Kingdom, the stoppers of the canopic
jars were carved to look like the heads of the four sons of the god Horus. Then later on the canopic jars
were placed in the four chambered chest. By 1000 BC, the preserved organs were wrapped in linen
and placed back in the mummy s body. The empty

How Is Alice In Wonderland Appropriate
For years books have been subject to countless reviews and scrutiny, and each time the
appropriateness of a book is up for debate, both sides of the argument present valid points. This
however does not apply to Alice in Wonderland. The classic written by Lewis Carroll is deemed as
inappropriate for children by many but what individuals don t realize is that Alice in Wonderland may
be the most appropriate book a child could ever read. Alice in Wonderland does contain both violence
and a young girl talking to strangers but despite this, Alice in Wonderland is appropriate for many
reasons. Some of which are that it is filled with imagination, teaches children the importance of being
on time and relationships as well as teaching children educational ... Show more content on

Despite this it is important to remember that societal norms change throughout the decades and what
may seem inappropriate now may have once been a common occurrence. Indeed the childrens story is
filled with threats of violence, drugs, alcohol, stranger danger, and cases where Alice eats and drinks
unknown foods or drinks. Despite all the inappropriate aspects of Alice in Wonderland, it is more than
filled with appropriate aspects such as imagination, educational value, teaching children the
importance of trust and relationships and being themselves. Alice made many friends along the way
and learnt important life lessons during her adventure. It is important for children to read and learn
what Alice in Wonderland has to teach. Children are sheltered from reality and kept in their own little
world filled with nothing but comfort and happiness, and then somewhere between childhood and
adulthood, they re thrown into reality. A reality they have been told is unsafe and full of cruelty and
then the children are expected to be comfortable and know their way around. The best literature for a
child is that which engages a child s mind while at the same time in a way that they would understand.
Children are not born capable of understanding the pain, fear and loss that is a part of the real world,
and its essential for them to be taught how to prepare for life. Less time needs to be spent on teaching
children to fear the dark, monsters and other such things, and instead more time needs to be spent on
teaching children to fear realistic things such as bankruptcy, mean individuals and the lack of
acceptance in society. In addition to teaching them what to fear and expect, children must also be
taught that it is all going to be okay. It is better to fill a child s mind with a

Mock Circulation
The UVA loop consists of pulsatile left and right cardiac simulators, used to simulate pulsating
functions of the left and right ventricles. Venous and arterial compliances are modeled by air and
water tanks, while tygon tubes are used to model flow resistance of the venous, arterial flows. The
variation in system resistance characteristics under different cardiac pressure and flow conditions are
modeled by a tuning clamp. The mock circulatory loop was tuned to simulate several pathological and
normal cardiovascular activity state of a person unlike the older mock circulatory loops. Different
human activity rates like rest, sleep, moderate exercises like walking or climbing stairs were also
involved in the while designing the mock circulatory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system includes the ability to measure the in vitro pulsatile optical density ratio using a proposed
flow cell method by using a pulsation flow cell that includes venous and arterial flow measurement.
This ability could be applied to various pulse spectrophotometry studies eliminating the need of
developing a new pulse photometry techniques. The mock circulatory system consists of a compliance
chamber that simulated aortal elasticity a clamp to simulate peripheral vessel resistance and a
reservoir chamber to simulate reserved blood in the veins. Artificial heart valves are used both at the
inlet and outlet of the pump to avoid regurgitation making it a unidirectional flow. Pump unit consists
of an elastic silicone tube inside an acrylic pipe and saline is filled in between them. The actuated
piston make the pressure increase inside the chamber allowing the compressed fluid to exit through
the outlet valve. The piston draws back decreasing the pressure letting the fluid flow into the silicone
tube through inlet valve thus achieving blood

18 Years Research Paper
The first 18 years of my life have been unforgettable. I have worked incredibly hard to be the best
student, the best family member, the best athlete, and the best citizen I can be. The past 18 years of
experiences have led me to this point an accepted student at Tulane University. While I wish I could
take all the credit, there have been so many people who have influenced and helped me along the way.
My parents and my sister have been my rock throughout the years. No matter what I have taken on, no
matter how impossible it may have seemed, my family has supported me. My parents are hard
working, caring people who have raised me to be a considerate, diligent, and selfless person. I owe all
of my success to their dedication and love for me

  • 2. Examples Of Metaphysical Poetry The term Metaphysical Poet was first used by John Dryden and later coined by Samuel Johnson in the 20th century. The term was used for the poets of the 17th century, it was a period of intense ferment in all areas of life religion, science, politics, domestic relations, culture. Metaphysical literally means to transcend above or beyond the physical world in order to gain perspective. The term permanently got associated to poets like John Donne, Andrew Marvel, Henry Vaughan, Richard Crashaw, and George Herbert. Their writings were a deliberate reaction against the 16th century verses which were smooth and had a sweet tone. The Metaphysical Poets, therefore, adopted an uneven, rigorous and energetic tone and were concerned with man s experience; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They used very vivid imagery in the poems, besides being richly sensuous. For example in The Bermudas the poet uses the images of the bright oranges that shine in the shade of trees like golden lamps in a green night . The pomegranates are described richer than the jewels. The islands are imagined as riding the ocean s bosom . The listening winds receive the song being sung by the pilgrims. The phrase, the watery maze is by itself admirably as conveying the idea that the pilgrims could have been lost on the sea, not knowing the direction in which to sail. One of the most vivid images is that of the whales which seem to carry the ocean upon their backs but which can be destroyed by the power of God: He the huge sea monsters wracks,/ That lift the deep upon their backs. The imagery in The Garden is very pastoral, it could be a reference to the garden of Eden. Unlike other metaphysical poets, Marvell derives some of it from classical reference, such as the myths of Apollo and Pan. The speaker then presents an image of his soul detaching from his body, but remaining in the garden. The image suggests that during the soul s time on Earth, it is possible for it to transcend some of the physical body s limitations, as we see in the speaker s previous contemplation of a green thought in a green ... One of the most important tasks for a country, state and society is to defend itself against attackers and other threats. Military force, as Clausewitz made explicit, is not an end in itself and it only has meaning in relation to the future desired political landscape. When internal political institutions function normally, the wielders of sovereign power are the natural arbiters of last resort among competing interests and values in the policy, including the subordination of the military to the highest political authorities. Armed Forces of a country should be designed to fulfil all tasks given to them from political authorities. Each country develops its armed forces based on specific conditions and requirements drawn from national security policy and as stated in national security and national defense strategies. National security strategy is aimed to enhance the safety of the nation s economic, social and political institutions against different threats. Strategies also deal with complex and diverse security challenges, like proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, climate change and migrations. To accomplish and safeguard their own security, states are trying to depend on national resources and also through the various international organizations and alliances. It is one of two types of obligations, the other, a Promise. To form a contract, all parties entering must have the capacity meaning they must be sane under the terms stated within the law. Those entering must be fully aware of what they are undertaking, having a sound understanding of the contracts terms. A contract has two principles that must take place for it to be finalized an offer and an acceptance. One of the parties makes the offer to the other to enter a legally binding contract under offerors terms. The offeree (party receiving the offer) must agree to the stated terms for a contract to be formed, if they do not and attempt to change any terms then no contract is formed. If both elements do not take place, then under the law no contract has been formed. Multiple offers with different terms can be made before any acceptance is given, most likely because the parties are trying to come to an agreement of the contractual terms. • 26. Literary Interpretation In The Birth-Mark The Birth Mark is a story about a husband, Aylmer, who looks at his wife, Georgiana, as imperfection, due to the mark on her left cheek. The setting of the story was based in the late 1700s, between the laboratory and a boudoir. In the story, a lot of detail goes into the laboratory and the boudoir that help characterize them and help give the overall metaphor at the end of the story. The details of both places show the effort Georgiana is going through to satisfy Aylmer. It also helps one visualize what setting they are in, also, how it disturbs the project at hand. If one were to be an allegorical reader, it would present the ruin Aylmer is putting Georgiana through. Essay On Quitclaim Deed The quitclaim deed holds the statement that the person named (and whose signature the property bears) has quit ownership of the property listed and conveys it to the person who holds the quitclaim deed (grantee). The quitclaim offers no guarantee. In fact, someone with no ownership whatsoever is able to file a quitclaim on a property. This is usually done with the intent to commit fraud by selling someone zero ownership to a piece of property. If the claim is wrong, there is no legal remedy. The one holding the fraudulent quitclaim is simply left with no ownership for their money spent. In some instances the quitclaim deed will pop up in connection to mortgages that have a cosigner. When someone cosigns for a loan, they are agreeing that their financial position can be used along with others on the loan, to qualify for financing. Co signers on a loan can each be held solely responsible for the balance of the loan. When a mortgage is held by one individual and cosigned by another, bankruptcy can leave confusion in its wake. By making this incision they took out the stomach, intestines, liver, and lungs. After they were taken out the embalmers would then preserve it by drying them in a natural salt called natron which is now called baking soda. In the Old Kingdom after they were dried, the embalmers would put the organs in a four chambered box made of wood, clay, or stone. This box was stored in the mummy s tomb. Then in the Middle Kingdom, the embalmers put each organ in a separate container called a canopic jar. The stoppers of the jars were carved o look like the face of the dead person. Then in the New Kingdom, the stoppers of the canopic jars were carved to look like the heads of the four sons of the god Horus. Then later on the canopic jars were placed in the four chambered chest. By 1000 BC, the preserved organs were wrapped in linen and placed back in the mummy s body. The empty ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. How Is Alice In Wonderland Appropriate For years books have been subject to countless reviews and scrutiny, and each time the appropriateness of a book is up for debate, both sides of the argument present valid points. This however does not apply to Alice in Wonderland. The classic written by Lewis Carroll is deemed as inappropriate for children by many but what individuals don t realize is that Alice in Wonderland may be the most appropriate book a child could ever read. Alice in Wonderland does contain both violence and a young girl talking to strangers but despite this, Alice in Wonderland is appropriate for many reasons. Some of which are that it is filled with imagination, teaches children the importance of being on time and relationships as well as teaching children educational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite this it is important to remember that societal norms change throughout the decades and what may seem inappropriate now may have once been a common occurrence. Indeed the childrens story is filled with threats of violence, drugs, alcohol, stranger danger, and cases where Alice eats and drinks unknown foods or drinks. Despite all the inappropriate aspects of Alice in Wonderland, it is more than filled with appropriate aspects such as imagination, educational value, teaching children the importance of trust and relationships and being themselves. Alice made many friends along the way and learnt important life lessons during her adventure. It is important for children to read and learn what Alice in Wonderland has to teach. Children are sheltered from reality and kept in their own little world filled with nothing but comfort and happiness, and then somewhere between childhood and adulthood, they re thrown into reality. A reality they have been told is unsafe and full of cruelty and then the children are expected to be comfortable and know their way around. The best literature for a child is that which engages a child s mind while at the same time in a way that they would understand. Children are not born capable of understanding the pain, fear and loss that is a part of the real world, and its essential for them to be taught how to prepare for life. Less time needs to be spent on teaching children to fear the dark, monsters and other such things, and instead more time needs to be spent on teaching children to fear realistic things such as bankruptcy, mean individuals and the lack of acceptance in society. In addition to teaching them what to fear and expect, children must also be taught that it is all going to be okay. It is better to fill a child s mind with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Mock Circulation The UVA loop consists of pulsatile left and right cardiac simulators, used to simulate pulsating functions of the left and right ventricles. Venous and arterial compliances are modeled by air and water tanks, while tygon tubes are used to model flow resistance of the venous, arterial flows. The variation in system resistance characteristics under different cardiac pressure and flow conditions are modeled by a tuning clamp. The mock circulatory loop was tuned to simulate several pathological and normal cardiovascular activity state of a person unlike the older mock circulatory loops. Different human activity rates like rest, sleep, moderate exercises like walking or climbing stairs were also involved in the while designing the mock circulatory ... This system includes the ability to measure the in vitro pulsatile optical density ratio using a proposed flow cell method by using a pulsation flow cell that includes venous and arterial flow measurement. This ability could be applied to various pulse spectrophotometry studies eliminating the need of developing a new pulse photometry techniques. The mock circulatory system consists of a compliance chamber that simulated aortal elasticity a clamp to simulate peripheral vessel resistance and a reservoir chamber to simulate reserved blood in the veins. Artificial heart valves are used both at the inlet and outlet of the pump to avoid regurgitation making it a unidirectional flow. Pump unit consists of an elastic silicone tube inside an acrylic pipe and saline is filled in between them. The actuated piston make the pressure increase inside the chamber allowing the compressed fluid to exit through the outlet valve. The piston draws back decreasing the pressure letting the fluid flow into the silicone tube through inlet valve thus achieving blood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
