Madness In King Lear Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of madness in "King Lear" poses a unique set of challenges.
Firstly, delving into the intricacies of Shakespearean language requires a deep understanding of
Elizabethan English, making it a formidable task for modern readers. Unraveling the layers of
symbolism and metaphor employed by Shakespeare demands careful analysis, as the playwright's
words often carry multiple meanings.
Furthermore, exploring the theme of madness in "King Lear" necessitates a comprehensive
understanding of the play's characters, their motivations, and the broader socio-cultural context.
The complexity of Lear's descent into madness, the blurred lines between feigned and genuine
insanity, and the impact of external influences add layers of depth that require meticulous
examination.
Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on this topic involves navigating the nuanced relationships
between characters, discerning the subtle shifts in power dynamics, and unraveling the
psychological dimensions of madness as depicted in the play. The task is not just to summarize
events but to interpret them in a way that adds value to the reader's understanding of the
characters and the overarching themes.
In addition to the literary challenges, one must grapple with the vast body of existing scholarship
on "King Lear" and its themes. Incorporating and responding to critical perspectives while
maintaining originality can be daunting. The essayist must engage with various interpretations of
madness, from historical analyses to modern psychological perspectives, and weave them into a
coherent argument.
Conclusively, writing an essay on the theme of madness in "King Lear" requires a combination
of literary acumen, analytical skills, and a deep appreciation for the complexities inherent in
Shakespearean works. Success in this endeavor demands not only a mastery of language and
literary theory but also an ability to discern and articulate the subtleties of human nature as
portrayed by the Bard.

Estrangement In Waiting For The Barbarians By David
Malouf
The Post colonial genre in litterature deals with several themes such as opression,
violence, and diffrences between civilized folks and uncivilized folks. The two
novels understudy are, Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M Coetzee and Remembering
Babylon by David Malouf, each published in 1980 and 1993. It principally deals with
the feeling of estrangement a man can feel when he is torn apart between his nature
and his community. It is legitimate to question what leads men to wonder about the
deeds that his community pushes him to do. To what extend a community or a power
can bring a man to a complete estrangement towards his community?
Throughout the novels there are several leitmotive that conduct the two protagonists
to a complete estrangement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This also brings the protagonists towards their estrangement.
In Malouf s novel, Gemmy is often deshumanized. Gemmy is described as being
part of the other, he is a scarecrow (3). A black ! That was the boy s first thought.
We re being raided by blacks. After so many false alarms it had come. (2). The
reader is brought to see the scene through the eyes of a child, which also emphasizes
the fear. Gemmy is also referred to as it , which shows how much he is unworthy of
being referred to as a human.
Back to Coetzee s novel with the killing and tortures of an old barbarian man and his
brutalized grandson. In the book they are referred as frank and filthy (10) by the
magistrate even though the reader perceives the growing estrangement of the
magistrate towards the Empire and their inhuman deeds. There is also the scene in
the book when Colonel Joll beats naked barbarians in front of the crowd not hatred,
not blood lust, but a curiosity so intense that their body are drained by it and only
their eyes live, organs of a new and ravening appetite. (115). Here the magistrate
estrangement towards the event and the empire is at its climax. Describing the scene
as an act of atrocity proves that the magistrate is completely estranged to

The cheerios brand from the organization Nestle has been around for years and is a

COMMENTARY:
The brand cheerios has been around since 1945 and comes from the strong brand
Nestle which is a Swiss multinational nutritional company formed in 1905. A Mintel
report by Clifford (2012) clearly shows that cheerios has a 3% market share of
breakfast cereals. Whilst this does not seem particularly high, the branded cereal
which holds the largest share is only at 8%. From the report a fair observation can
be made that cold cereals, which includes Cheerios, form 87% of the total market and

A future marketing plan should focus on the product being sold as a family cereal
in the morning as there is a growing segment that would relate to this. A report
conducted by Ihekweazu (2011) looks into the eating habits of people within the
UK. Stating that the sales of breakfast cereals has therefore been mainly driven by
consumers demand for a cost effective and convenient breakfast options driven by
a desire for a healthy start to the day. It was also found that two thirds of consumers
eat breakfast at home every day, rising to 78% of over 55s and 85% of those that are
retired.

More women being employed who are more conscious of eating breakfast in the
morning, passing this down to the children.
COMMENTARY:
In a Mintel report by Ihekweazu (2011) it is found that the number of women in
employment has increased and is set to increase by 1.5% within the next five years,
this is quite an important social change within the external environment. This is due
to the fact that women are more inclined to east breakfast at home, this therefore has
a huge impact on the children within the family as it means theoretically it will be
easier for parents to ensure their child is having breakfast. It also means that they
have more control over what they are eating.
This should theoretically make it easier for parents to ensure that their children have
breakfast at home
Impact Of The Huge Investment On The Economy Of
Commerce...
As it was mentioned before, Carr has good points regarding the huge investment on
IT in the infrastructure of commerce period. However, he should realize the
importance of this investment in the second stage too. He wrote this article in 2003
and maybe he was not aware enough about what the real value of IT is. Although
there are many successful companies which invested a lot on their IT systems, but he
insisted to underestimate the value of these investments. The huge investments in the
IT systems of Amazon and others giant companies is the key for their successful.
Without investing in the IT systems in the commoditization stage (as he referred to
it), these companies won t be able to compete in this intense market. I believe that he

Now, it is hard for any company to survive in the global market without advance IT
systems. I think we do not have a lot of opportunities in this world. If we have a
chance, we have to exploit it right away and do not wait for others to have it. He
had a point when he said waiting will save some money, but this money is considered
as an investment and not loss. There are many reasons why these giant companies are
successful in their business.
Investing in new IT systems will
* Reduce costs
Giant companies such as Amazon uses its ITs systems as an effective way to
reduce costs. The IT enables Amazon to have a competitive advantage over other
rivals and leave them behind. IT was not only help Amazon to do what it did before,
but it was also enable it to expand more in new directions.
* Create and build barriers to entry
Once a company has an advancement in their IT systems, it will be harder for others
companies to compete in the same business. These new rivals have to invest heavily
to reach the same level of the company that invest in its IT systems before them.
Also, these rivals will try to copy the successful company while the successful
company works on something more advance.
These two factors are the most important factors that enabled these companies to be
dominant in their business.

How Smoking Has Changed Through The Years
How Smoking Has Changed Through the Years (5) Smoking has greatly changed
through the years. However, if one thinks about it does smoking control society in a
particular way, or does society control the view on smoking. Through time, one can
discover that there are many examples that may explain this question.
People in the 1960 s thought smoking was considered cool at the time and it was the
thing to do. Many people saw smoking as a symbol of statuses such as hard worker,
or even an office worker. It showed that one had class because you were a refined
person with a good paying job (White, Cameron,Oliffe, Bottorff). In many cases,
smoking was considered beautiful for a woman to smoke in addition to their daily
beauty routine. It was also associated with a strong, hardworking, and handsome man
who all the woman try to get a date with.
Many people were misled by the cigarette companies. Who claimed that their
cigarettes were easy on the throat. The cigarette companies labeled the cigarette
cartons with a picture of a man in a white lab coat that represented a doctor. They
also printed on the cartons that they asked your doctor if it was ok to smoke, but in
reality, they did not (Gardner, Martha, Brandt). This marketing scheme worked very
well to mislead people to believe that cigarettes were healthy for you. Since people
see Doctors as intelligent people and are professionals in their respective field and
studied medicine for years so people believe them undoubtedly.
A Study Of Computer Programming

A Study of Computer Programming Although everyone uses it not many people
know how computers and computer programming work. The people who first
pioneered the technology are largely left out of our textbooks although they have
had such a large impact on how people now live their lives, it is not just the recent
advancements either, there have been many leaps forward in as many years. In
addition to not knowing who invented these concepts people generally do not know
how they work, it is more simple than many people tend to think. The future of
computer technology may be a deciding factor in how people live in the future,
from quantum computing to artificial intelligence. I believe people should know
about computer programming because it has become such a large part of all our
lives. Everyone should know about how it came about, how it works, and where it
will go in the future. Getting information to the reader on computers and computer
programming is the purpose of this essay, so there is no need to cover what one
would need to know, as it will be explained. It is a crime that the people who have
worked to create computers, and programming today have little to no place in the
current history books. Although there has been the occasional movie such as The
Imitation Game for the most part the history of computer programming has been
criminally under reported. For some people like Jim Daniels a computer engineer and

The Reign of Terror
The Reign of Terror was a time during the French Revolution hundreds of thousands
of people were executed by various means: guillotine, shot, and drowned. The
Committee of Public Safety, lead by Maximilien de Robespierre, were in charge of
these executions, and with the job of finding anti revolutionaries forces. Many
thought that what Robespierre was doing would just lead to a greater anti revolution
movement, which would in turn increase the number of executions. Others did not
take action against the terror; for fear that they themselves might be executed.
Those who were still loyal to the revolution saw the terror as a noble cause; they saw
it as a way to rid France of anti revolutionary forces. While the terror started as an...

As said by the British Prime Minster, William Pitt, the French people are urged into
the field by the fear of the guillotine. Most often the people would join the
revolutionary army just to escape the wrath of the army (Doc14). Charles James
Fox, A member of parliament and a sympathizer of the revolution, the leaders of the
French people were guilty of such unheard of crimes and cruelties. The other
countries were even able to recognize how the terror was nothing more than a way to
fear the people into following the revolutionaries commands (Doc13). Louis Antoine,
in a speech to the National Convention, talked about how the French peoples greatest
mistake was thinking that concentration authority would save the state. He thought
this was a mistake; because, the concentration of the authority lead to even more
chaos within the terror (Doc5). Many did think that the revolutionaries in charge of
the trials for anti revolutionary cases were much disorganized and in disarray, as
seen in this picture by an unknown artist who; most likely disagreed with the terror.
The artist depicts a scene where a revolutionary committee is deliberating were or
not a person is guilty. In the painting, you see many different uniforms for the people,
no one is looking in the same direction, dogs are running around the room and the

Food Bank Use in Canada
Food Bank Use in Canada
According to Food Banks Canada, food bank usage has soared to 28% in the past
three years, with more than 850,000 Canadians making use of a food bank in a
typical year (Ontario
Healthy Communities Coalition, March 2012). One of the biggest contributors to
why individuals depend on food banks is their social economic status of lower class
and poverty. Although this is a big contributor, there are many more major social
determinants that contribute to food bank usage outside of social economic status
designation. I believe the other three most important determinants that contribute to
usage of food banks are education, employment/working conditions and physical
/social environment.

Even though socio economic status is a huge determinant of food bank usage, I
believe that education, employment/working conditions and physical/social
environment are also contributing determinants for this case. Food banks are initially
started to help those in need, but
I believe that federal and provincial governments should furthermore improve
economic growth to increase the likely hood of individuals п¬Ѓnding and sustaining
a full time job. With this change, increased employment would help reduce the use of
food banks and improve the quality of life of individuals.

Child Marriage Is A Violation Of Children
Child marriage is a forced marriage where the individual or individuals are children
and under the age of 18 who cannot or do not consent to being married (Jelenic
Keeley 2013). This essay argues that the best way to prevent child marriage in
Australia is to generate tougher criminalisation laws. The essay will begin by briefly
outlining the extent of child marriagein Australia before going on to illustrate a case
study that expresses the issue. The essay will then argue potential solutions, including
means of tougher criminalisation for offenders. It will further consider the
importance of education for children and touch on methods to raise awareness, before
drawing on ways the community can work together to prevent child marriage. Finally
the essay will reflect on the arguments taken and conclude with the best way to
prevent child marriage in Australia.
Child marriage is a violation of children s human rights and often involves
physical, emotional, financial, sexual or psychological pressure and abuse
(Levesque 1999). Approximately 14 million children as young as 8 years of age
fall victim to child marriages worldwide each year, robbing them of their childhood,
education and future dreams (Quinell 2015). A study conducted by the National
Children s and Youth Law Centre identified over 250 cases of child marriages in
Australia over 24 months (Jelenic Keeley 2013). The study confirmed that over 15
Australian children are being sent overseas each year for a forced
Theme Of Mending Wall And Birches
To know the meaning of these two poems, Mending Wall and Birches , we first
must understand what are these poems about on a literal level. Mending Wall tells
about the story of a rock wall, that is build to separate two properties (the speaker
and his neighbor) in the countryside, and something is always destroying it. On the
other hand, we have the poem of Birches and the speaker talks about how he does
not like how the birches bend because of the storm so he imagines that children are
the ones who climb the birchtree as high as they can and then when they have
reached the point where the birch can support their weight any more, they bend the
birch because the kick their legs and pull the tree down to one side. With this
information we can discuss and try to understand the deeper meaning of these two
poems and how... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem of Mending Wall , Frost uses soundto enrich and enhances his theme
/meaning of the poem. He writes in a soft and harmonious way, almost in a
reflective tone. He enriches more his theme of separation/barrier building to give
empathy towards the speaker and the way he asks himself, why is the stonewall
still there separating both the speaker and his neighbor. Before I built a Wall/I d
ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out,/And to whom I was like to give
offense. However, there is the implication that something even deeper is going on
and Frost uses a harsh tone for it. When he inscribes a certain type of dialogue
between the speaker and his neighbor, the neighbor s response is very harsh and
discordant. My apple trees will never get across/And eat the cones under his pines,
I tell him/He only says/Good fences make good neighbors . With this response the
reader can connect with the speaker and see how harsh the speaker s neighbor
response is. Here we can see the theme of this poem is that a respectful distance
between neighbors is the recipe for harmonious relationships: Good fences make
good neighbors .
Murders in California
In the state of California, according to the CAL. PEN. CODE В§ 187, there are
three types of murders that involve having an intention to kill. They are as listed:
premeditated murder, second degree murder malice aforethought, and murder as a
result of provocation. Murder as a result of provocation is one who states a mental
incapacity for either the time being, such as; blacking out, or they had temporary loss
of control of oneself and could not control it. This is only seen though through murder
cases for it to end up being a lesser charge. Second degree murder malice aforethought
is a non premeditated killing of a victim who cannot be fully proven there was the
full reasoning of the death. This is also known as having some sort of intent or
recklessness.(Cal. Penal Code В§ 187 [West 1996]). Premeditated murder is
someone who sat down and thought the murder through and went along with it,
also known as first degree murder. So with all that being said, in the scenario about
a victim of a DUI accident who had religious beliefs about blood transfusion died
from bleeding out too much in California. The drunken driver was on probation for
a previous DUI he has received, and because of him driving drunk, caused him to be
impaired which caused him to crash into a parked car. Where then the victim was
trapped and started to bleed out. When they approached the hospital, the victim made
it clear that she is against blood transfusions due to her religious beliefs, so the

Biodoxics In Sports Biomechanics
When the human body moves during regular movement or during athletic
performance, the movements can be scientifically broken down and analyzed by
biomechanics based on a number of different analytics. Some of the most common
analytics being evaluated are power, torque, joint actions, linear velocity, and angular
velocity. A person in recovery from an injury or a professional athlete will often have
their movements analyzed using the previously mentioned criteria to determine
improvement in performance. This assignment will explore the importance of those
biomechanical topics and how they are applied in sports biomechanics.
In order to begin defining the terms that are listed above, others topics need to be
briefly introduced, as the human body and its movements are extremely complex
and interconnected. Work is the basis of all body movement, without work
movement does not occur. In his 2013 textbook Biomechanics of sport and
exercise, P. McGinnis explains that work is the product of force and the amount of
displacement in the direction of that force (it is the means by which energy is
transferred from one object or system to another (p. 116). Force is another basis for
all of movement, both living and not. P. McGinnis defines force as a push or a pull
which is exerted by objects on other objects (McGinnis, 2013, p. 19). When exerting a
force on an object, the muscles in the human body contract which result in a pull .
The rate at which muscles contract determines the
Advantages Of Coconut Oil
Let s work in reverse. Whenever you consider the health advantages of coconut oil,
we re going to think that the very last thing coming to your brain is massaged the

natural beauty devotees swear by the stuff for almost everything. Are they onto

Indeed, based on our experts. Coconut oil is used in lots of natural beauty products,
and also for a good reason: It is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, coconut oil for

The Princess And The Pea Criticism
People think of lions and tigers as royalty, so it is not surprising that they are used in
this version of The Princess and the Pea. Originally written by Hans Christian
Andersen, this fairy tale has a prince who wishes to marry a princess, but the queen
insists it must be a proper princess. The illustration in this adaptation, drawn by Janet
Stevens, shows the beginning of the conflict, with the queen insisting on a true
princess for the princes wife. The illustration conveys clear distinctions of the
feelings of the king from the queen and the prince. There are negative feelings on
the left side of the picture, which are captured by the king, who is looking away
from the rest of his family. His legs are crossed, which means he... Show more content

The queen and prince are literally on a red carpet, which represents celebrity
status. The queen is wearing lots of rings and other jewels, displaying her status.
The son looks like the father, as they are both lions, yet is more in tune with the
tiger mother. He is drawn behind the queen, which exhibits a lesser status, yet a
closer relationship with his mother than what he has with his father. There is much
more yellow on the right side, about thirty percent of the picture, and the son is
wearing the most. The background is farther away, focusing on the two. The son
is observing his mother, revealing that he looks to her for guidance, not the king.
The phrase tiger mom comes to mind, since she is making the decisions for the son
and he knows this. One s eye goes straight to the queen, who is in the middle,
which confirms that she is the main focus of this illustration. There are fewer rigid
lines on the right, which shows less oppression. If the three royal figures are part
of a triangle, they are the closer ends, with the king much farther away. Their body
language is much more open than the king s, as well. The cap that the son is
wearing is eye grabbing, as it is orange. The orange of the cap signifies his youth,
as well as suggesting he is flamboyant. Just as English is read left to right, so are
pictures. The picture in this adaptation of The Princess and the Pea illustrates this.
There are negative feelings on the left, which is shown by the lion king. The tiger
queen and lion son have more hope. Considering how the mother wants all the
control, it makes sense to have the emotions to go this way. All in all, the beginning
of the conflict of this story is perfectly captured by this

his work, they think of his darkness. People can dismiss the fact that there is a
reason behind his dark emotion, but if someone looks at his life they would

they had ever been during the author s lifetime. Griswold s distorted image of Poe

Examples Of Scrooge Change In A Christmas Carol
Do you believe that your life can change in a blink of an eye? How about
overnight. Well most people are naturally nice or mean and many don t change for
the better. In the classic novel a Christmas carol written by Charles Dickens, the
main character Ebenezer Scrooge changes drastically. The author gets Scrooge to
change by sending the ghost of an old dead friend, and three spirits. The spirit that
affected Scrooge the most was the spirit of Christmaspresent, because he was able to
make Scrooge feel a deeper sense of sadness and shame and he showed him what
he was missing out on. One of the reasons Scrooge was most affected by the spirit
of Christmas present (or second spirit) is because it used images of the Cratchits to
make Scrooge feel sadness,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example is on page, 71 where the text says, But he raised the speedily on
hearing his own name. Mr.Scrooge! said Bob; I ll give you Mr.Scrooge, the
founder of the feast! This shows Scrooge s interest upon hearing his name. The
evidence shows how the Cratchits thank Scrooge despite how he treats Bob. This
makes Scrooge feel regret for his actions, and after his transformation he actually
gives the Cratchits the biggest turkey on Christmas. Normally Scrooge wouldn t
even celebrate Christmas, nonetheless even interact merrily towards his employee.
This is another change we have seen in him with the spirit. (another reason*) is on
page 70, the text (states*), Then Bob proposed: A merry Christmas to us all, my
dears. God bless us! Which all the family re echoed. God bless us, every one! said
Tiny Tim, the last of all. this evidence shows a very good example of Scrooge
seeing first hand a great example of happiness. The Cratchits have a poor lifestyle
and a crippled young boy but they still make time to be grateful for everything that
they have. The spirit uses this scene and shows a good example to Scrooge. Scrooge
can remember this forever to know how he should act. He
Of Plymouth Plantation William Byrd Summary
William Bradford and William Byrd may share the same first name but that is the
length of the similarities between these two colonial writers. Bradford, a puritan
writer, valued religious freedom above all else, often making the connection back to
God and religion in his writings. In his text, Of Plymouth Plantation, Bradford uses
his personal experience to give an account of the first pilgrims and the hardships they
faced in their journey to colonize America. On the other hand, Byrd takes a more
satirical approach, using humor and wit to criticize those same early American
settlers in his publication The History of the Dividing Line. Bradford and Byrd both
wrote texts about early American life. However, the two authors have different
purposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bradford uses a bland, matter of fact style of writing which is common for the time
period in which he lived. He often avoids long, drawn out literary techniques
instead focusing on clearly stating his opinions. His tone is especially evident in
his description of the Pilgrim s journey across the ocean, According to the usual
manner, many were afflicted with seasickness (Bradford). Bradford chooses to
express events as simply as he can, allowing himself to ghost over tedious details to
instead focus on his underlying purpose. Unlike Bradford, Byrd prefers to make
use of a more sarcastic tone in his text, often taking his descriptions into great
detail. He pokes fun at influential and important events, often removing the severity
from situations with a humours flare. Several repeated misadventures of this kind
did for some time allay the itch of sailing to this new world, but the distemper
broke out again (Byrd). Byrd s writing is compiled of witty lines and blunt remarks
that prove his distaste for the early American settlers. It is clear he disapproves of
the Pilgrim s methods but his words lack the malicious undertone that is clear in
Bradford s text when he mentions practices he does not fully agree
Time Management Within The Military
Time management plays a vital role in each and every unit with the United States
Army and it affects how quickly they can respond to problems when they arise.
Time management encompasses just about everything in the Army. From Senior
Non Commissioned Officers (SNCO) making sure their soldiers are in the right
place at the right time by tracking all their soldiers appointments and duties or the
squad leaders and other Non Commissioned Officers making sure that maintenance
is being completed on time so the aircraft are ready to fly, and making sure that
soldiers are ready for their flights for the day all the way down to the lower enlisted
soldier making sure he or she is on time and ready to complete their day. These are
the just a few of the things that time managementencompasses within the military.
So what is time management? Time management is a skill that needs to learned or
if need be taught to every soldier within the ranks. Imagine a unit that has no time
management skills. Soldiers are late for flights, they miss appointments and in turn
receive article fifteens, Senior Non Commissioned Officers are being scolded by
their First Sergeants for not being able to properly track their soldiers which in turn
falls downhill to the squad leaders. Maintenance isn t completed and a majority of
the fleet is down leaving only a few aircraft in an airworthy status, as the operational
readiness level continues to drop, soldiers fail to complete training requirements and

Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara
The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the
Santa Clara University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order.
The mission s purpose was to be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San
Francisco. Due to Mexico withdrawing from the Spanish Empire, the King of Spain
and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the missions, were no longer in power. The
Mexican government didn t have enough resources and was not interested to maintain

the mission perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to
the Society of Jesus, also called the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Claracollege

Mission Santa Clara is set in the middle of Santa Clara University(which can be seen
in the Santa Clara University s campus map), located in the Bay area. When it was
founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to set the mission due to
it having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and
abundance of game in the area. In front of the mission, there stands the Mission

Theory Of Mind Analysis
The core concepts involved in Theory of Mind are beliefs, desires, and intentions,
which are used to understand why someone acts in a certain way or to predict how
someone will act (Kloo et al., 2010). Overall, Theory of Mind involves
understanding another person s knowledge, beliefs, emotions, and intentions and
using that understanding to navigate social situations. A commonly used task to
measure Theory of Mind is a false belief task, such as this: Show the child a Band Aid
box and ask the child what he/she thinks is inside the box. He or she will likely
respond Band Aids. Open the box and show him/her that there is a toy pig inside,
while saying Let s see....it s really a pig inside! , then close the box. Now, as you are

Essay on Women and Consumer Behaviour
Women and Consumer Behaviour
INTRODUCTION
Consumer behaviour can be defined as the acts of individuals directly involved in
obtaining and using economic and services, including the decision process that
precede and determine these acts. (Engel et al, 1968, p 5)
Buyer behaviour refers to the acts of individuals directly involved in the exchange of
money for economic goods and services and the decision process that determined
these act. (Engel et al, 1968, p 5).
Both consumer and buyer behaviour differ amongst the population as people have
different wants and needs. Therefore it is untrue to say that working women buy
products and services essentially the same as non working women. No two people

In each society, the culture of that society has a functional purpose. It provides values,
beliefs, attitudes, and behaviours that facilitate human interaction. The culture of a
working woman will be very different from that of a non working female.
Spiro, R.L studies show that Strodtbect, I. L. found cultural differences with respect
to the roles of females were related to differences in decision making. This is because
both groups will have different beliefs and attitudes due to the way they have been
nurtured.
Social
In a materialist society economic well being much determines what social class
you are in. If this was the case, than working women would be in a much higher
class than non working. However focusing primarily on income fails to recognise
the differences in spending of disposal income characteristics of social classes. For
example a teacher who earns the same as a truck driver will spend their money in
distinctly different ways, the service and goods will not be the same. (Runyon, K.E
1980). Working women may spend their money on socialising i.e. with friends etc.
whereas a non working woman may have children and therefore spend much money
on the family
Social class differences are variations in life styles, in values, interpersonal attitudes
and self perception. These differences influence consumer behaviour, shopping
patterns, and effective communications.
Therefore marketing practitioners should understand that
Argumentative Essay On Safe Driving
Overall, this new law does reflect the values of society and addresses the changing
concerns over safe driving in the era of smartphones, although driver reactions were
mixed. To accurately measure usage and the societal mood on this issue, the
National Road Safety Council (NRSC) conducted a series of five surveys before the
law was introduced. The last four surveys (2008 2011) included a question measuring
community attitudes in relation to the (then hypothetical) introduction of a new law
banning the use of hands free mobile phones while driving. This hypothetical law
attracted 39% community support. This was largely because: People clearly
believed that their chances of having an accident would increase if they were using a
mobile phone while driving. The NRSC survey results show that the overwhelming
majority (85% of respondents) believed this to be the case, as this pie chart indicates:

Companies such as the NRMA conducted surveys in 2005 and 2010, that
recommended law reforms as part of a combined strategy with driver education
and awareness. However, there was a significantly higher proportion of
respondents opposed to such a law (46%) than in favour of it, as illustrated in the
graph below: Public support of a hypothetical new law banning the use hands free
mobile phone while driving. Source: NRSA Survey December 2011 Opponents of
the new law argued that it is too extreme and strict. Commercial drivers, such a
truck, bus and taxi drivers, felt that it would restrict their ability to do their jobs
efficiently, as they could no longer answer calls or text while stopped at traffic
lights. Some claimed that it was a way for police to boost state revenue from traffic

Theme Of Foreshadowing In The Great Gatsby
Foreshadowing, in literature, is used to indicate a significant event or a series of
significant events that occur later on in the piece of writing. Often, the reader does
not fully comprehend the importance of indicative words and/or phrases until being
made aware of them later. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald foreshadows the inevitable
outcome for his main star, Jay Gatsby. The events prior to Gatsby s death all
foreshadow the final outcome. Almost every characters are foreshadowed with how
they end up. Fitzgerald uses imagery to convey hints and clues to Gatsby and
everyone surrounding him and all of their eventual destination.
Firstly, Fitzgerald uses a few incidents involving cars to foreshadow the
recklessness of Daisy, resulting in the death od Myrtle. In chapter three, Owl eyes
is accused of crashing his car in the ditch. When in reality, it was a man who was
drunk and disordered. Owl eyes represents a lack of vision within the story. Of
course, the recklessness of the drunk man with the car foreshadows Daisy s
recklessness with Gatsby s car. To further the foreshadowing of that event, Owl
eyes insists that the problem is not the tire, that is lying on the ground, but is that
his car is out of gas and requests that it be brought to the gas station: Wonder ff tell
me where there s a gas line station? At least a dozen men ... explained to [Owl eyes]
that wheel and car were no longer joined by any physical bond (Fitzgerald 56). Not
only does Owl eyes have impaired vision, but this also foreshadows when Tom,
Nick, and Jordan stop at the Wilson s auto mechanic shop for gas.
Before getting in the car, Tom argues with Daisy and Gatsby about the entire love
triangle. Tom insists on driving Gatsby s bright car with Daisy. Daisy chooses to
go with Gatsby in Toms car. Out of rage, Tom drives fast and recklessly. The
recklessness in Gatsby s car foreshadows the later recklessness is the same car, but
with Daisy at the wheel. Upon running low on gas, Tom reluctantly stops at the
Wilson s mechanic shop. Myrtle, from the window, sees Tom and miss sees Jordan
as Tom s wife, Daisy. Myrtle also takes note on the brightly coloured car which
foreshadows her misunderstanding of who the car actually belongs to.
Online Marketing Strategies For Restaurants
Online Marketing Strategies for Restaurants
Restaurant customers search for restaurants on their phones, receive marketing
messages digitally, use the Internet for customer service and research restaurants by
reading online restaurant reviews. People place carryout and delivery orders online,
buy eCommerce products from restaurant websites and look for restaurant menus
online. If you re not engaged in online marketing, your restaurant won t be visible to
most customers, even if they re walking by your business but with their eyes glued to
their phone screens.
Eight Online Marketing Ideas
The following techniques will give you a strong working platform to launch all types
of online marketing campaigns, engage customers and prospects more effectively and
build a strong Internet presence.
1. Build a Mobile Website
Your most important step for online marketing is building a website that adjusts for
any device automatically. Responsive websites make it easier for people to find
information on their phones. Your website should be easy to navigate for customers
and easily updated by you, an administrator from your staff or a third party hosting,
designing or consulting company.
2. Post Your Menu Online
Your menu is your second most valuable Internet marketing resource. Restaurants
spent thousands of dollars to post their menus in yellow page directories in past
decades (and many still do), but you can now post your menu often for free or at
little cost where people can

Strategic Dimensions Of Sourcing And Shoring Techniques
. Strategic Dimensions of Sourcing and Shoring Techniques
There are a multitude of strategic dimensions associated with sourcing and shoring
techniques in the marketplace, conducting business abroad, and conducting business
on the home front, or near the home place. These strategic dimensions include (a)
domestic outsourcing (b) insourcing (c) backsourcing (d) offshoring (e) offshore
outsourcing (f) onshoring (g) nearshoring (h) strategic outsourcing (i) business
process outsourcing (BPO) and (j) offshore service providers (OSPs). These sourcing
and shoring techniques can be complicated to understand. Domestic outsourcing is
when a company decides to let go of an in house job to go to another domestic
company to perform (Koku, 2009). Insourcing is bringing back work internally that
was previously outsourced (Nodoushani McKnight, 2012). Backsourcing is
rescinding the product or service back to the home country where it came from
originally. Offshoring is when a company from one country outsources work to
businesses in another country by either conducting operations in the foreign country,
or subcontracting this work out through outsource providers who then transfer this
work overseas (Chadee Ramen, 2009; Koku, 2009).
Offshore outsourcing is a hybrid of domestic outsourcing and offshoring, in which a
company totally transfers jobs to another company that is foreign based which has no
relation whatsoever to the domestic affiliate, for example, Delta Airlines contracting

Stock car racing has evolved a great amount since 1920 s when racing first started.
The cause of racing was because of the Prohibition. The 18th amendment banned the
production and possession of alcohol. So people had to make their own liquor, called
moonshine. In order to make money from liquor, part of the job was to deliver it to
their customers, but with the law enforcements trying to obey the new law,
Moonshiners had to make their runs at night. They also had to use vehicles that
would blend in, and would not create too much attention, but those vehicles couldn t
out run the cops, so they decided to make some slight modifications to them. After
moonshiners made these slight modifications, they were able to run 120 mph on a

The outer shell of the helmet has 2 layers of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is
extremely strong and light. The construction of the outer shell begins with a thin
layer of gel coat. After that a special resign is added to the shell. The special resign
includes several types of glass, carbon, Kevlar, and other exotic fibers and weaves.
Kevlar is what makes carbon fiber helmets extremely durable and light. All that

how well it holds up and if it flies off the test subjects head. One of the most

The Double Helix Essay
Over break I decided to read The Double Helix by James D. Watson. This book was
a fascinating memoir on the discovery of the double helix from the point of view
by James Watson. I found his story fascinating due to the fact that in science
classes we only see the discovery of what has happened. We never get to learn their
story to how this discoveries were uncovered. This is the reason I believe that
Watson wrote the story; to enlighten readers on the not so scientific pieces of a
scientific discovery. The reader can see many different aspects of Watson s life:
such as relationships, how the discovery had impacted his life, and the time he
spends in the lab. Firstly, lets take a look at some of Watson s relationships. The first

So when I read that this wasn t the entire truth; I was a little shocked. This memoir
is enlightening in the fact that it contradicts most of how the media portrays
scientists, and like most people throughout the rest of the world, I believed this is
what being a scientist was really like. Although, contrary to popular belief, this is
not what is displayed by Watson. When they discover the double helix it showed a
picture of Watson and Crick in a brightly lit lab sitting at desks. This completely
changed my view of what being a scientist ment. When it mentioned them working
together in the lab thats not what I had pictured at all. There is also a lot of work
that he had done with other scientists in other labs. Like when he went to see
Rosalind Franklin and Maurice Wilkins in their lab to discuss what they thought on
what they had found in the x ray lab. I had never really considered the fact that
scientists collaborated. As I said, I thought they just stayed in their lab and rarely
went outside. Although, working with Franklin was probably one of the largest
contributing factors to the discovery of the double helix. Now thinking back it makes
sense for scientists to collaborate because then they can get the insight from another
scientist on the same

recommendations and opinions as to how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historic cost depreciation is being used which leads to skewed numbers that
misrepresent how well a product line will continue to operate in the future due to
understated replacement value of fixed assets.
Also, the cost of working capital is not being included; as a result, Trading Profit is
not indicating the amount of cash and other current assets being tied up in each
particular product line. We think that the opportunity cost of utilizing (tying up)
working capital is not reflected on each individual product lines final results, enabling
product managers to utilize potentially excessive levels of working capital without
poorly affecting their Trading Profit.
Finally, Mr. Logan concluded that there are expenses that are not being allocated at
all or are being allocated improperly:
There is a corporate unallocated Other Income and Deductions ( OI amp;D ) account
that includes charges that pertain to the different product lines.
The allocation of the New Product Development costs is also questionable. Even
though these costs are being utilized to create new products, the established products
are bearing the costs based on their profits.
Manufacturing overhead is based on planned and not actual production.
Don Logan felt that all of these factors played a role in not presenting a true measure
of how each product line and each product manager was doing within Lipton. We tend
to agree that the current process is not accurately reflecting how
Transcendentalism In La Ley Innata
In La ley Innata, or the Inborn Law by the Spanish rock band, Extremoduro,
vocalist Roberto Iniesta takes us on a journey of chaos, the external and internal
aspects of ourselves, and ultimately forms a poetic and musical masterpiece. Many
of the songs on the album are difficult to interpret, which, as a whole, ends up
becoming a series of beautiful words that no one understands. However, because of
its mysterious nature, we look at it from all sorts of angles in an attempt to decode
as if it were some sort of puzzle. In one of the songs, Iniesta says he is looking for
[his] destiny, living a deferred life, without being, without hearing, without giving. I
personally think that these lines not only resonate with Thoreau s transcendentalism,
and that humans thrive from within, but also helps us look deep into what it means to
be human and the kind of struggles that we face because we often find ourselves
clinging to our physicality, rather than our spirituality. Furthermore, the fact that
Iniesta is looking for a destiny even though he is living life without being explains
that it is his non physical aspect that is doing the work, not his actual physical body.
That being said, Mary Oliver, in Humpbacks helps us determine how and why our
non physical self gives us more answers to the bigger questions we encounter on a
day to day basis and why our physicality gets in the way.
As he looks down on society s structure, Thoreau mentions that the things which

Emma Lazarus The New Colossus
The Statue of Liberty was never built for immigrants. Initially, it was used to pay
tribute to the United States of America and its newly founded democracy and
friendship with France. Citizens did not think otherwise until Emma Lazarus first
introduced the idea that it meant more. She communicated her opinions and emotions
through a poem, The New Colossus. Although it was not instantly recognized, it
eventually became the heart and soul of the New World. Consequently, it was so
impactful and moving that it was written on a plaque at the base of the statue.
Lazarus expresses the theme of welcoming immigrants to America with hope and
freedom through the symbols of a torch and door. In The New Colossus, the Statue of
Liberty portrays the hope and freedom the United Statesgives to immigrants. Inspired
by a wave of pogroms against Jews in Russia and...her regularly visits to poor
immigrants (Roberts 4 6), Lazarus wanted to write a piece that would convey
America s founding of greeting newcomers with open arms. One instance in which
the message she is sharing can be seen is in specific lines of the poem. Give me your

Impulsive Adolescent Behavior In Romeo And Juliet
Imagine not thinking through situations all the time. Also, these same situations
are not being thought through enough to the point that someone can be hurt or
even killed. In the drama Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, these events
happen quite often. This is due to impulsive adolescence. Most People think that
the only message that Shakespeare tries to convey is that family should not
control their children s hearts. However, Shakespeare has a more prominent
underlying message of the dangers of Impulsive Adolescent behavior. Impulsive
adolescence is teenagers acting before they think everything through all the way.
Some examples of this are the death of Romeo and Juliet, Tybalt and Mercutio s
death, and Romeo getting banished from Verona. The first reason why the theme
of the drama is impulsive adolescent behavior is that of Romeo and Juliet s death.
The reason why Romeo and Juliet s death is apart of Impulsive Adolescent
behavior is that Juliet did not think that Romeo was going to think that she was
dead. Since the potion made it look like she was not breathing it made her family
think she was dead. This leaked out to everyone and it found its way to Romeo.
Then Romeo decided to kill himself because of Juliet s fake death. Then Juliet killed
herself with his dagger because she wanted to be with... Show more content on

The reason why is because two people got killed. This could not have happened if
they did not act out of anger. Romeo did not want to fight Tybalt because they were
family. Tybalt calls Romeo a name and Mercutio draws his sword and Tybalt killed
Mercutio. Mercutio acted out of anger because Tybalt calls Romeo a villain. Then
after Mercutio dies Romeo acts out of anger and he kills Tybalt. This is apart of
impulsive adolescent behavior because they acted out of anger and they did not think
of other resolutions to this
Iran Women Equality
EDUCATION
Education of women and girls in the Middle East has made progress in recent
decades, however females still lack access to the same quality and quantity of
education as their male peers. Women face obstacles such as limitations on what
fields they may study, a higher standard of academic performance than their male
peers to study in a given field, and segregation from their male peers at universities.
In Iran, women s unequal access to education is more often the result of traditional
societal values rather than of law. After the Iranian Revolution of 1979, the monarchy
was replaced by religious clerics, who under Ayatollah Khomeini, held political
power. This resulted in a regression of women s rights and human rights. Women s...

Examples Of Gender Reality In Hinduism
A Bias Gender Reality in Hinduism
There is no chance of the welfare of the world unless the condition of women is
improved. It is not possible for a bird to fly on one wing. Swami Vivekananda
The religion of Hinduism originated in the country of India billions of years ago.
The Hindu religion has many gods that are the reasoning for any and everything.
There are many characteristics of the gods in this case, one of which being that there
is no specific gender given to the gods. Therefore, one refers to the gods as mother,
father god. This too shall support the evidence that both male and female should have
equal rights in Hinduism. For instance, the god Krishna is one of the most well known
male gods in Hinduism. Krishna is commonly depicted in a female stature with blue
skin while playing a flute. He is also commonly illustrated as a child eating butter.
His presence in the Hindu religion often portrays the ideal of guidance. Especially in
the Bhagavad Gita. Overall his presence is viewed as love, beauty, and ... Show more

For instance, the burning of brides is a common issue that takes place. When a
female does not meet the requests of her demanding husband she may suffer by
being publicly burned alive for everyone to see. This is a rather crude way to treat
the wife, but in the eyes of many Hindu husbands they must suffer the
consequences. The common problem for such a drastic result is often the offspring
that the wife produces. The demand of a male offspring is of high request. More
commonly the child is brutally injured or murdered. Many Hindu texts discuss the
significance of the Hindu women and their values. Yet, many of their important
factors are not often taken heed of. By analyzing sacred text, you will then see that
there was equality of the male and female gods and goddesses. This brings about the
curiosity as to why females are treated so

The Issue Of Immigration Is Become A Major Debate For...
The issue of immigration has become a major debate for everyone. Although people
argue over the negative impacts of immigrants living in America such as
overcrowding, less jobs due to immigrants taking them, drug trafficking, and
threatening of American culture, immigrants still have a huge impact in the
American society. The United Statesis by far the largest destination for immigrants,
annually receiving over a million legal immigrants and about seven hundred
thousand illegal immigrants. Many people come to the United States to get a better
life for themselves as well as for the education system for their children. Initially, the
United States received about sixty percent of the world s immigrants from 1820 to
1930. Population expansion in developed areas of the world, improved methods of
transportation, and America s desire to populate available space were all factors for
this occurrence. Through the nineteenth century, the United States was in the midst
of agricultural, and industrial expansion. The aspiration for inexpensive, unskilled
labor and the profits made from importing immigrants fueled the movement.
Immigrants were largely responsible for the rapid development of the country and
the economy, their high birth rates increased the U.S. population. Over twelve
million immigrants infiltrated the United States of America from 1892 to 1954
through a small island in New York Harbor called Ellis Island. Throughout the years,
Ellis Island served as a gateway for

Major Causes Of The First Crusades
The First Crusade was the start of mass religious persecution in Europe. The
crusade focused on violent subjection of non Christians like Jews and Muslims
lead by the order of Pope Urban II. Urban II made a call to arms against many
against the Muslims stating that they must wrest that land from the wicked race,
and subject it to yourselves (332). This entailed that anyone who was not Christian
was part of this wicked race , and that those who didn t believe in the holiness of
Christ was to be either converted or eradicated. This is how the persecution of Jews
came to place along with that of Muslim belief. The Jews, who had amassed a large
following in the Rhineland, were seen as a much as a problem as the Muslims that
the First Crusadeswere focused on due to the fact that they were close to home. This
lead them to be included in these crusades. The question at hand was why the
perspectives of Christians towards non Christians led them to violent action against
Muslims and Jews? A major factor that lead to the First Crusadewas the presence of a
Turkish threat in the Asia Minor. The Seljuk Turks had a strong presence already and
after the capture of Baghdad, they created pressure for the Byzantine Empire. After a
disastrous attempt to impede the looming Turkish forces with a mercenary army of
Franks, Normans, and Slavs that led to the capture of emperor Romanus IV, the
Byzantines lost their control over the region. The new emperor Alexius I took further
action and
Christianity And Resurrection
When I was younger my parents and I would go to a church often and then we had
stopped for a while. My mom then registered me into Catholic church classes when I
was in fourth grade so I could do be baptized and do my first communion. After I had
got baptized and everything I started to question which religion was the right path.
Then I started questioning Christianityspecifically.
Christianity has a claim which is that 2000 years ago, God the Son came to the
Earth to reveal the Father to us and then die to save us from our sins ( https:/
/read.amazon.com/), there are some people that don t believe this, but there are other
claim and evidence as well in which I will mention. One of the questions is why is
Jesus called God the Son? We are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitchens claims that is Jesus existed he would have been mentioned in other
documents beside the New Testament. If someone were to claim that Jesus did not
exist 2,000 years ago, it could not be proven because we are now living 2,000 years
after the event happened. Early opponents of Jesus did not ever claim that Jesus
did not exist. They did not claim He did not exist because they did not want to
seem foolish for saying that, if it came out to be true that He did exist. Instead of
claiming that He did not exist, they decided to discredit Him by saying that He
worked miracles in the power of Satan. Jesus was attacked when the early
opponents started saying He performed exorcisms for Satan, which would not
make sense because why would Satan want Him to perform exorcisms, if what
Satan wanted was to fill people with demons and not get them out of people. Satan
was only able to make the people blind instead of healing them, while Jesus was
able to heal people who were blind and sick. The Jesus the Gospels would mention
or talk about would not have been a Jesus they would have made up. The reason
being, the ways they would make him appear sometimes, which is Him being weak.
For example, in the book From Plato to Plantinga: An Introduction to Philosophy it
says that He actually sweated drops like that of blood in the Garden of Gethsemane
because He was under so much stress (https://read.amazon.com/) and also that He

Analyzing Eminem s Song Stan
I think it depends on the individual choice. In today s audience, it is no secret that
vocal music dominates overall. When we listen to vocal music, the mood of the
song can have you feeling one way and suddenly have you feeling another way.
Eminem s song Stan is a perfect example. The song has a fan writing a letter to
Eminem. In the beginning, he tells Eminem how much of a big fan he was to him
and has been trying to get it contact with him, while also telling him about his life
and feeling sorry about the loss of one of Eminem relatives, but by the end of the
song he is hurt and mad that Eminem never responded to him. Unfortunately, he takes
his and his child s motherlife. The lyrics can take you up and down in vocal music.

Cruel Titles
Titles suck. Almost any high school student would agree that writing an entire 5
paragraph essay can oftentimes be much easier than typing just one sentence which
captures the key ideas developed throughout the entire essay. This is because students
are taught the importance of having a title which does much more than just capture
the reader s attention. ...A title creates anticipation and expectation or, perhaps,
disinterest...So I think titles are extremely important (Reissenweber). Titles must also
hold within themselves subtle hints to the inner workings of the text as a whole.
Many great authors have developed the ability to institute major messages that
become evident throughout the text just through the title. William Shakespeareis...

Becoming A Professional Electrical Electronics Engineer
We ve made great advances in the last century, innovating at an astonishing speed.
But unfortunately, it seems as if in the last decade, the rate of innovation has
slowed down considerably. Every new product is just an iteration of the last
iteration, with no defining jumps in technology but only incremental changes.
With the snail paced recovery of the economy and a looming global warming crisis,
America needs more engineers if it wants to stay the dominant nation that it is
today and if it wants to make sure that the future of its children is safe, prosperous,
and pollutant free. None too often it is the small ideas from engineers that create
sparks in the economy and keep this great nation of ours going. As distinguished
professor Michael Schiffer would say, engineers have the ability to symbolize
technological prowess and modernity (4). I plan on joining this distinguished group
of innovators. I want to become a professional electrical electronics engineer, to
acquire the knowledge and the skills to be able to run my own consumer electronics
company one day; Becoming a professional electrical electronics engineer will allow
me to work on providing clean energy for my parents hometown of New Takoradi.
Becoming a professional electronics electrical engineer is not an easy task
whatsoever. Although this process is challenging and time consuming, I know I have
the patience, the discipline, and the determination to make it through. Based on the

Home Compensation Case Study
By definition, the word compensation refers to the act of making one whole after an
injury or loss. Moreover, the word just refers to an act that is legally right has
conformity that which is lawful or fair. As the Fifth Amendment states that private
property cannot be taken for public use, without just compensation, it would appear
that in order to economically make the homeowners of New London, Connecticut
whole, the City would have to offer each household compensation amounting to or
exceeding the property s fair market value.
At first glance, the decision of the City s decision to claim the acreage was
seemingly justified as it carefully formulated a development plan that it believes will
provide appreciable benefits to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a purely economic standpoint, compensation amounting or exceeding the fair
market value of each individual physical property that was taken would technically
make each homeowner whole. In separate research, I could not find any evidence or
defined numeric value indicating the extend of the compensation offered to the
homeowners. However, almost all outside resources mention that the homeowners
were offered considerable compensation. If the word considerable implies that
payments amounted to or exceeded the fair market values of each individual property,
then the homeowners were technically made whole, the City was not in the wrong.
Anything less than fair market value would make the City s decision unjust.
Notwithstanding, almost 10 years later, Fort Trumbull, the City s envisioned finished
product, never came to fruition. While it can be argued that each homeowner was
economically materially compensated, no compensation is possible for the subjective
value of these lands to the individuals displaced the indignity inflicted by uprooting
them from their homes (Stevens, 2005). In all, the City seems to have provided just
compensation, but only from an economic point of
General Artificial Intelligence ( Ai )
My research interests lie in the area of general Artificial Intelligence (AI). In my
doctorate, I want to focus on making AI robotic systems safe, interactive and
trustable. This follows from my master s thesis work on explainable AI. I believe
that this unexplored field is an essential step needed to integrating cutting edge
technology into our society, as this will increase its trustworthiness among people.
For example, an autonomous car coming late to pick us up should be able to say,
The fifth avenue had bad traffic, for the human to rely on the technology. This
transparency in robots is necessary for people to be not only able, but also willing,
to use such technology to its fullest potential. Therefore, I believe this new field
will be the main focus of the next decade. I developed an interest in robotics from
participating in many robotics competitions in my undergraduate at IIT Madras,
India. I further pursued this by taking up various extracurricular projects from
robotics clubs and individual professors. Altogether, these further spurred my
interest in Machine Learning and Robotics, so I decided to further refine my
interest by pursuing a master s degree in robotics here at Carnegie Mellon
University (CMU), as the robotics research here is unparalleled. At CMU, I am
currently working with Prof. Manuela Veloso, Head, Machine Learning Department,
and Dr. Stephanie Rosenthal. During my first year at CMU, I pioneered the concept

Most nesting locations are amongst dense shrubbery and branches of small trees and
are built lower to the ground. In order to defend his nest the male sings in a loud,
clear whistle from the top of a tree or another high location. Sometimes males will
attack their reflection often spending hours charging at what they perceive as
unwelcome intruders.
The male is the one to show off to attract a mate. Sometimes you ll see the male
pick up a seed, hop over to the female, and the two momentarily touch beaks as she
takes the food, this is called mate feeding . Females choose their mates based on
the male s qualities such as the size of his black face mask as well as the color of
his plumage and bill. When the female agrees to become his mate they sing to each
other.
The cardinal is a ground feeder and finds food while hopping through forests and
shrubbery. The adults diet consists of insects, spiders, wild fruits, berries, and weed
seeds. They feed their young almost exclusively on insects. In the winter, Cardinals
eat more seeds and berries since insects are

Madness In King Lear Essay.pdf

  • 1. Madness In King Lear Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of madness in "King Lear" poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly, delving into the intricacies of Shakespearean language requires a deep understanding of Elizabethan English, making it a formidable task for modern readers. Unraveling the layers of symbolism and metaphor employed by Shakespeare demands careful analysis, as the playwright's words often carry multiple meanings. Furthermore, exploring the theme of madness in "King Lear" necessitates a comprehensive understanding of the play's characters, their motivations, and the broader socio-cultural context. The complexity of Lear's descent into madness, the blurred lines between feigned and genuine insanity, and the impact of external influences add layers of depth that require meticulous examination. Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on this topic involves navigating the nuanced relationships between characters, discerning the subtle shifts in power dynamics, and unraveling the psychological dimensions of madness as depicted in the play. The task is not just to summarize events but to interpret them in a way that adds value to the reader's understanding of the characters and the overarching themes. In addition to the literary challenges, one must grapple with the vast body of existing scholarship on "King Lear" and its themes. Incorporating and responding to critical perspectives while maintaining originality can be daunting. The essayist must engage with various interpretations of madness, from historical analyses to modern psychological perspectives, and weave them into a coherent argument. Conclusively, writing an essay on the theme of madness in "King Lear" requires a combination of literary acumen, analytical skills, and a deep appreciation for the complexities inherent in Shakespearean works. Success in this endeavor demands not only a mastery of language and literary theory but also an ability to discern and articulate the subtleties of human nature as portrayed by the Bard. • 2. Estrangement In Waiting For The Barbarians By David Malouf The Post colonial genre in litterature deals with several themes such as opression, violence, and diffrences between civilized folks and uncivilized folks. The two novels understudy are, Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M Coetzee and Remembering Babylon by David Malouf, each published in 1980 and 1993. It principally deals with the feeling of estrangement a man can feel when he is torn apart between his nature and his community. It is legitimate to question what leads men to wonder about the deeds that his community pushes him to do. To what extend a community or a power can bring a man to a complete estrangement towards his community? Throughout the novels there are several leitmotive that conduct the two protagonists to a complete estrangement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This also brings the protagonists towards their estrangement. In Malouf s novel, Gemmy is often deshumanized. Gemmy is described as being part of the other, he is a scarecrow (3). A black ! That was the boy s first thought. We re being raided by blacks. After so many false alarms it had come. (2). The reader is brought to see the scene through the eyes of a child, which also emphasizes the fear. Gemmy is also referred to as it , which shows how much he is unworthy of being referred to as a human. Back to Coetzee s novel with the killing and tortures of an old barbarian man and his brutalized grandson. In the book they are referred as frank and filthy (10) by the magistrate even though the reader perceives the growing estrangement of the magistrate towards the Empire and their inhuman deeds. There is also the scene in the book when Colonel Joll beats naked barbarians in front of the crowd not hatred, not blood lust, but a curiosity so intense that their body are drained by it and only their eyes live, organs of a new and ravening appetite. (115). Here the magistrate estrangement towards the event and the empire is at its climax. Describing the scene as an act of atrocity proves that the magistrate is completely estranged to
  • 3. Cheerios Swot Analysis SWOT Commentary STRENGTHS: The cheerios brand from the organization Nestle has been around for years and is a well known cereal / brand still with a significant share in the breakfast cereal market of 3%. COMMENTARY: The brand cheerios has been around since 1945 and comes from the strong brand Nestle which is a Swiss multinational nutritional company formed in 1905. A Mintel report by Clifford (2012) clearly shows that cheerios has a 3% market share of breakfast cereals. A future marketing plan should focus on the product being sold as a family cereal in the morning as there is a growing segment that would relate to this. A report conducted by Ihekweazu (2011) looks into the eating habits of people within the UK. Stating that the sales of breakfast cereals has therefore been mainly driven by consumers demand for a cost effective and convenient breakfast options driven by a desire for a healthy start to the day. It was also found that two thirds of consumers eat breakfast at home every day, rising to 78% of over 55s and 85% of those that are retired. REFERENCE: Ihekweazu, V. (2011). Mintel Report. Breakfast Easting Habits UK. Vl1. More women being employed who are more conscious of eating breakfast in the morning, passing this down to the children. COMMENTARY: In a Mintel report by Ihekweazu (2011) it is found that the number of women in employment has increased and is set to increase by 1.5% within the next five years, this is quite an important social change within the external environment. This is due to the fact that women are more inclined to east breakfast at home, this therefore has a huge impact on the children within the family as it means theoretically it will be easier for parents to ensure their child is having breakfast. It also means that they have more control over what they are eating. This should theoretically make it easier for parents to ensure that their children have breakfast at home
  • 4. Impact Of The Huge Investment On The Economy Of Commerce... As it was mentioned before, Carr has good points regarding the huge investment on IT in the infrastructure of commerce period. However, he should realize the importance of this investment in the second stage too. He wrote this article in 2003 and maybe he was not aware enough about what the real value of IT is. Although there are many successful companies which invested a lot on their IT systems, but he insisted to underestimate the value of these investments. The huge investments in the IT systems of Amazon and others giant companies is the key for their successful. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, it is hard for any company to survive in the global market without advance IT systems. I think we do not have a lot of opportunities in this world. If we have a chance, we have to exploit it right away and do not wait for others to have it. He had a point when he said waiting will save some money, but this money is considered as an investment and not loss. There are many reasons why these giant companies are successful in their business. Investing in new IT systems will * Reduce costs Giant companies such as Amazon uses its ITs systems as an effective way to reduce costs. The IT enables Amazon to have a competitive advantage over other rivals and leave them behind. IT was not only help Amazon to do what it did before, but it was also enable it to expand more in new directions. * Create and build barriers to entry Once a company has an advancement in their IT systems, it will be harder for others companies to compete in the same business. These new rivals have to invest heavily to reach the same level of the company that invest in its IT systems before them. Also, these rivals will try to copy the successful company while the successful company works on something more advance. • 5. How Smoking Has Changed Through The Years How Smoking Has Changed Through the Years (5) Smoking has greatly changed through the years. However, if one thinks about it does smoking control society in a particular way, or does society control the view on smoking. Through time, one can discover that there are many examples that may explain this question. People in the 1960 s thought smoking was considered cool at the time and it was the thing to do. Many people saw smoking as a symbol of statuses such as hard worker, or even an office worker. It showed that one had class because you were a refined person with a good paying job (White, Cameron,Oliffe, Bottorff). In many cases, smoking was considered beautiful for a woman to smoke in addition to their daily beauty routine. It was also associated with a strong, hardworking, and handsome man who all the woman try to get a date with. Many people were misled by the cigarette companies. Who claimed that their cigarettes were easy on the throat. The cigarette companies labeled the cigarette cartons with a picture of a man in a white lab coat that represented a doctor. They also printed on the cartons that they asked your doctor if it was ok to smoke, but in reality, they did not (Gardner, Martha, Brandt). This marketing scheme worked very well to mislead people to believe that cigarettes were healthy for you. Since people see Doctors as intelligent people and are professionals in their respective field and studied medicine for years so people believe them undoubtedly.
  • 6. A Study Of Computer Programming Joshua Carver Mrs. Galaviz 2/18/15 Senior Paper A Study of Computer Programming Although everyone uses it not many people know how computers and computer programming work. The people who first pioneered the technology are largely left out of our textbooks although they have had such a large impact on how people now live their lives, it is not just the recent advancements either, there have been many leaps forward in as many years. In addition to not knowing who invented these concepts people generally do not know how they work, it is more simple than many people tend to think. The future of computer technology may be a deciding factor in how people live in the future, from quantum computing to artificial intelligence. I believe people should know about computer programming because it has become such a large part of all our lives. Everyone should know about how it came about, how it works, and where it will go in the future. Getting information to the reader on computers and computer programming is the purpose of this essay, so there is no need to cover what one would need to know, as it will be explained. It is a crime that the people who have worked to create computers, and programming today have little to no place in the current history books. Although there has been the occasional movie such as The Imitation Game for the most part the history of computer programming has been criminally under reported. For some people like Jim Daniels a computer engineer and teacher at
  • 7. The Reign of Terror The Reign of Terror was a time during the French Revolution hundreds of thousands of people were executed by various means: guillotine, shot, and drowned. The Committee of Public Safety, lead by Maximilien de Robespierre, were in charge of these executions, and with the job of finding anti revolutionaries forces. Many thought that what Robespierre was doing would just lead to a greater anti revolution movement, which would in turn increase the number of executions. Others did not take action against the terror; for fear that they themselves might be executed. Those who were still loyal to the revolution saw the terror as a noble cause; they saw it as a way to rid France of anti revolutionary forces. While the terror started as an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As said by the British Prime Minster, William Pitt, the French people are urged into the field by the fear of the guillotine. Most often the people would join the revolutionary army just to escape the wrath of the army (Doc14). Charles James Fox, A member of parliament and a sympathizer of the revolution, the leaders of the French people were guilty of such unheard of crimes and cruelties. The other countries were even able to recognize how the terror was nothing more than a way to fear the people into following the revolutionaries commands (Doc13). Louis Antoine, in a speech to the National Convention, talked about how the French peoples greatest mistake was thinking that concentration authority would save the state. He thought this was a mistake; because, the concentration of the authority lead to even more chaos within the terror (Doc5). Many did think that the revolutionaries in charge of the trials for anti revolutionary cases were much disorganized and in disarray, as seen in this picture by an unknown artist who; most likely disagreed with the terror. The artist depicts a scene where a revolutionary committee is deliberating were or not a person is guilty. In the painting, you see many different uniforms for the people, no one is looking in the same direction, dogs are running around the room and the guards look almost

One of the biggest contributors to why individuals depend on food banks is their social economic status of lower class and poverty. Although this is a big contributor, there are many more major social determinants that contribute to food bank usage outside of social economic status designation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though socio economic status is a huge determinant of food bank usage, I believe that education, employment/working conditions and physical/social environment are also contributing determinants for this case. Food banks are initially started to help those in need, but I believe that federal and provincial governments should furthermore improve economic growth to increase the likely hood of individuals п¬Ѓnding and sustaining a full time job. • 9. Child Marriage Is A Violation Of Children Child marriage is a forced marriage where the individual or individuals are children and under the age of 18 who cannot or do not consent to being married (Jelenic Keeley 2013). This essay argues that the best way to prevent child marriage in Australia is to generate tougher criminalisation laws. The essay will begin by briefly outlining the extent of child marriagein Australia before going on to illustrate a case study that expresses the issue. The essay will then argue potential solutions, including means of tougher criminalisation for offenders. It will further consider the importance of education for children and touch on methods to raise awareness, before drawing on ways the community can work together to prevent child marriage. Finally the essay will reflect on the arguments taken and conclude with the best way to prevent child marriage in Australia. Child marriage is a violation of children s human rights and often involves physical, emotional, financial, sexual or psychological pressure and abuse (Levesque 1999). Approximately 14 million children as young as 8 years of age fall victim to child marriages worldwide each year, robbing them of their childhood, education and future dreams (Quinell 2015). A study conducted by the National Children s and Youth Law Centre identified over 250 cases of child marriages in Australia over 24 months (Jelenic Keeley 2013). The study confirmed that over 15 Australian children are being sent overseas each year for a forced
  • 10. Theme Of Mending Wall And Birches To know the meaning of these two poems, Mending Wall and Birches , we first must understand what are these poems about on a literal level. Mending Wall tells about the story of a rock wall, that is build to separate two properties (the speaker and his neighbor) in the countryside, and something is always destroying it. On the other hand, we have the poem of Birches and the speaker talks about how he does not like how the birches bend because of the storm so he imagines that children are the ones who climb the birchtree as high as they can and then when they have reached the point where the birch can support their weight any more, they bend the birch because the kick their legs and pull the tree down to one side. In the poem of Mending Wall , Frost uses soundto enrich and enhances his theme /meaning of the poem. He writes in a soft and harmonious way, almost in a reflective tone. He enriches more his theme of separation/barrier building to give empathy towards the speaker and the way he asks himself, why is the stonewall still there separating both the speaker and his neighbor. Before I built a Wall/I d ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out,/And to whom I was like to give offense. However, there is the implication that something even deeper is going on and Frost uses a harsh tone for it. When he inscribes a certain type of dialogue between the speaker and his neighbor, the neighbor s response is very harsh and discordant. My apple trees will never get across/And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him/He only says/Good fences make good neighbors . With this response the reader can connect with the speaker and see how harsh the speaker s neighbor response is. Here we can see the theme of this poem is that a respectful distance between neighbors is the recipe for harmonious relationships: Good fences make good neighbors .
  • 11. Murders in California In the state of California, according to the CAL. PEN. CODE В§ 187, there are three types of murders that involve having an intention to kill. They are as listed: premeditated murder, second degree murder malice aforethought, and murder as a result of provocation. Murder as a result of provocation is one who states a mental incapacity for either the time being, such as; blacking out, or they had temporary loss of control of oneself and could not control it. • 12. Biodoxics In Sports Biomechanics When the human body moves during regular movement or during athletic performance, the movements can be scientifically broken down and analyzed by biomechanics based on a number of different analytics. Some of the most common analytics being evaluated are power, torque, joint actions, linear velocity, and angular velocity. A person in recovery from an injury or a professional athlete will often have their movements analyzed using the previously mentioned criteria to determine improvement in performance. This assignment will explore the importance of those biomechanical topics and how they are applied in sports biomechanics. In order to begin defining the terms that are listed above, others topics need to be briefly introduced, as the human body and its movements are extremely complex and interconnected. Work is the basis of all body movement, without work movement does not occur. In his 2013 textbook Biomechanics of sport and exercise, P. McGinnis explains that work is the product of force and the amount of displacement in the direction of that force (it is the means by which energy is transferred from one object or system to another (p. 116). Force is another basis for all of movement, both living and not. P. McGinnis defines force as a push or a pull which is exerted by objects on other objects (McGinnis, 2013, p. 19). When exerting a force on an object, the muscles in the human body contract which result in a pull . The rate at which muscles contract determines the

  • 14. The Princess And The Pea Criticism People think of lions and tigers as royalty, so it is not surprising that they are used in this version of The Princess and the Pea. Originally written by Hans Christian Andersen, this fairy tale has a prince who wishes to marry a princess, but the queen insists it must be a proper princess. The illustration in this adaptation, drawn by Janet Stevens, shows the beginning of the conflict, with the queen insisting on a true princess for the princes wife. The illustration conveys clear distinctions of the feelings of the king from the queen and the prince. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The queen and prince are literally on a red carpet, which represents celebrity status. The queen is wearing lots of rings and other jewels, displaying her status. The son looks like the father, as they are both lions, yet is more in tune with the tiger mother. He is drawn behind the queen, which exhibits a lesser status, yet a closer relationship with his mother than what he has with his father. There is much more yellow on the right side, about thirty percent of the picture, and the son is wearing the most. The background is farther away, focusing on the two. The son is observing his mother, revealing that he looks to her for guidance, not the king. The phrase tiger mom comes to mind, since she is making the decisions for the son and he knows this. One s eye goes straight to the queen, who is in the middle, which confirms that she is the main focus of this illustration. There are fewer rigid lines on the right, which shows less oppression. If the three royal figures are part of a triangle, they are the closer ends, with the king much farther away. Their body language is much more open than the king s, as well. The cap that the son is wearing is eye grabbing, as it is orange. The orange of the cap signifies his youth, as well as suggesting he is flamboyant. Just as English is read left to right, so are pictures. The picture in this adaptation of The Princess and the Pea illustrates this. There are negative feelings on the left, which is shown by the lion king. The tiger queen and lion son have more hope. Considering how the mother wants all the control, it makes sense to have the emotions to go this way. All in all, the beginning of the conflict of this story is perfectly captured by this

The author gets Scrooge to change by sending the ghost of an old dead friend, and three spirits. The spirit that affected Scrooge the most was the spirit of Christmaspresent, because he was able to make Scrooge feel a deeper sense of sadness and shame and he showed him what he was missing out on. Bradford, a puritan writer, valued religious freedom above all else, often making the connection back to God and religion in his writings. In his text, Of Plymouth Plantation, Bradford uses his personal experience to give an account of the first pilgrims and the hardships they faced in their journey to colonize America. Bradford uses a bland, matter of fact style of writing which is common for the time period in which he lived. He often avoids long, drawn out literary techniques instead focusing on clearly stating his opinions. His tone is especially evident in his description of the Pilgrim s journey across the ocean, According to the usual manner, many were afflicted with seasickness (Bradford). Bradford chooses to express events as simply as he can, allowing himself to ghost over tedious details to instead focus on his underlying purpose. Unlike Bradford, Byrd prefers to make use of a more sarcastic tone in his text, often taking his descriptions into great detail. He pokes fun at influential and important events, often removing the severity from situations with a humours flare. Several repeated misadventures of this kind did for some time allay the itch of sailing to this new world, but the distemper broke out again (Byrd). • 23. Theme Of Foreshadowing In The Great Gatsby Foreshadowing, in literature, is used to indicate a significant event or a series of significant events that occur later on in the piece of writing. Often, the reader does not fully comprehend the importance of indicative words and/or phrases until being made aware of them later. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald foreshadows the inevitable outcome for his main star, Jay Gatsby. The events prior to Gatsby s death all foreshadow the final outcome. Almost every characters are foreshadowed with how they end up. Fitzgerald uses imagery to convey hints and clues to Gatsby and everyone surrounding him and all of their eventual destination. Firstly, Fitzgerald uses a few incidents involving cars to foreshadow the recklessness of Daisy, resulting in the death od Myrtle. In chapter three, Owl eyes is accused of crashing his car in the ditch. When in reality, it was a man who was drunk and disordered. Owl eyes represents a lack of vision within the story. Of course, the recklessness of the drunk man with the car foreshadows Daisy s recklessness with Gatsby s car. To further the foreshadowing of that event, Owl eyes insists that the problem is not the tire, that is lying on the ground, but is that his car is out of gas and requests that it be brought to the gas station: Wonder ff tell me where there s a gas line station? At least a dozen men ... explained to [Owl eyes] that wheel and car were no longer joined by any physical bond (Fitzgerald 56). Not only does Owl eyes have impaired vision, but this also foreshadows when Tom, Nick, and Jordan stop at the Wilson s auto mechanic shop for gas. Before getting in the car, Tom argues with Daisy and Gatsby about the entire love triangle. Tom insists on driving Gatsby s bright car with Daisy. Daisy chooses to go with Gatsby in Toms car. Out of rage, Tom drives fast and recklessly. The recklessness in Gatsby s car foreshadows the later recklessness is the same car, but with Daisy at the wheel. Upon running low on gas, Tom reluctantly stops at the Wilson s mechanic shop. Myrtle, from the window, sees Tom and miss sees Jordan as Tom s wife, Daisy. Myrtle also takes note on the brightly coloured car which foreshadows her misunderstanding of who the car actually belongs to.

Strategic Dimensions of Sourcing and Shoring Techniques There are a multitude of strategic dimensions associated with sourcing and shoring techniques in the marketplace, conducting business abroad, and conducting business on the home front, or near the home place. These sourcing and shoring techniques can be complicated to understand. Domestic outsourcing is when a company decides to let go of an in house job to go to another domestic company to perform (Koku, 2009). Insourcing is bringing back work internally that was previously outsourced (Nodoushani McKnight, 2012). Backsourcing is rescinding the product or service back to the home country where it came from originally. Offshoring is when a company from one country outsources work to businesses in another country by either conducting operations in the foreign country, or subcontracting this work out through outsource providers who then transfer this work overseas (Chadee Ramen, 2009; Koku, 2009). Offshore outsourcing is a hybrid of domestic outsourcing and offshoring, in which a company totally transfers jobs to another company that is foreign based which has no relation whatsoever to the domestic affiliate, for example, Delta Airlines contracting

Historic cost depreciation is being used which leads to skewed numbers that misrepresent how well a product line will continue to operate in the future due to understated replacement value of fixed assets. Also, the cost of working capital is not being included; as a result, Trading Profit is not indicating the amount of cash and other current assets being tied up in each particular product line. We think that the opportunity cost of utilizing (tying up) working capital is not reflected on each individual product lines final results, enabling product managers to utilize potentially excessive levels of working capital without poorly affecting their Trading Profit. Finally, Mr. Logan concluded that there are expenses that are not being allocated at all or are being allocated improperly: There is a corporate unallocated Other Income and Deductions ( OI amp;D ) account that includes charges that pertain to the different product lines. The allocation of the New Product Development costs is also questionable. Even though these costs are being utilized to create new products, the established products are bearing the costs based on their profits. Manufacturing overhead is based on planned and not actual production. Don Logan felt that all of these factors played a role in not presenting a true measure of how each product line and each product manager was doing within Lipton. We tend to agree that the current process is not accurately reflecting how

Transcendentalism In La Ley Innata In La ley Innata, or the Inborn Law by the Spanish rock band, Extremoduro, vocalist Roberto Iniesta takes us on a journey of chaos, the external and internal aspects of ourselves, and ultimately forms a poetic and musical masterpiece. Many of the songs on the album are difficult to interpret, which, as a whole, ends up becoming a series of beautiful words that no one understands. However, because of its mysterious nature, we look at it from all sorts of angles in an attempt to decode as if it were some sort of puzzle. In one of the songs, Iniesta says he is looking for [his] destiny, living a deferred life, without being, without hearing, without giving. I personally think that these lines not only resonate with Thoreau s transcendentalism, and that humans thrive from within, but also helps us look deep into what it means to be human and the kind of struggles that we face because we often find ourselves clinging to our physicality, rather than our spirituality. Furthermore, the fact that Iniesta is looking for a destiny even though he is living life without being explains that it is his non physical aspect that is doing the work, not his actual physical body. That being said, Mary Oliver, in Humpbacks helps us determine how and why our non physical self gives us more answers to the bigger questions we encounter on a day to day basis and why our physicality gets in the way. As he looks down on society s structure, Thoreau mentions that the things which corrupt humans

Also, these same situations are not being thought through enough to the point that someone can be hurt or even killed. In the drama Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, these events happen quite often. This is due to impulsive adolescence. Most People think that the only message that Shakespeare tries to convey is that family should not control their children s hearts. The first reason why the theme of the drama is impulsive adolescent behavior is that of Romeo and Juliet s death. Urban II made a call to arms against many against the Muslims stating that they must wrest that land from the wicked race, and subject it to yourselves (332). This entailed that anyone who was not Christian was part of this wicked race , and that those who didn t believe in the holiness of Christ was to be either converted or eradicated. This is how the persecution of Jews came to place along with that of Muslim belief. The Jews, who had amassed a large following in the Rhineland, were seen as a much as a problem as the Muslims that the First Crusadeswere focused on due to the fact that they were close to home. This lead them to be included in these crusades. The question at hand was why the perspectives of Christians towards non Christians led them to violent action against Muslims and Jews? A major factor that lead to the First Crusadewas the presence of a Turkish threat in the Asia Minor. The Seljuk Turks had a strong presence already and after the capture of Baghdad, they created pressure for the Byzantine Empire.
