In N Out Analysis
On January 28th, I visited the In N Out Burger located at 2900 W Sahara Ave, Las Vegas. Like
most In N Out locations, it is conveniently visible with the sign beckoning to come visit. The
drive thru was always long. However, it has plenty of parking areas. When I stepped into the
restaurant, there was also a long line of people, who were waiting for made to order fries and
burgers.
In terms of atmosphere and ambiance, this In N Out Burger is delightful, bright, neat, and simple.
The light is bright, and the tiles are white and red color. There is a customer service counter with
registers in front of a kitchen and food preparation area. There is a separate area for customer self
service. The large dining area includes a combination of booths,

India s Total India Focused Fund
INTRODUCTION
India has been a focal point of economic development and entrepreneurial ventures in the recent past
and continues to attract traction in funding, fostering and growing startups in the country. To cite a
few examples, Sequoia Capital raised its fourth India focused fund of USD 530 million, chiefly in
the technology, consumer and healthcare sectors. Sequoia Capital s total India focused funds equals
approximately USD 2 billion (http://yourstory.com/2014/05/sequoia capital india fund/). The Indian

In the agriculture, production and services sectors, India has made remarkable strides in the last
two decades becoming the 2nd, 14th and 15th largest economy respectively (http:/

The Importance Of Human Nature In Of Mice And Men
Stories and other literary forms are often used to showcase different aspects of human nature. John
Steinbeck uses the story Of Mice and Men to display the truth behind human aspirations and
emotions. Steinbeck exhibits both the kindness and the cruelty that lies within everyone. Through
both symbolism and direct statements, the readers can understand the different struggles and
motives of each character. Of Mice and Men shows the world through the perspective of many
people from different backgrounds, including workers, women, the mentally ill, and colored
people. Though the characters appear drastically different, they all have dreams and yearn to
belong. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck is trying to show the importance of friendship, the
impossibility of the American dream, and the discrimination in the 1930 s. Many characters in the
story go without friendship, causing them to feel alone in the world. George and Lennie are the
only characters introduced that stick together. George and Lennie say multiple times that we got a
future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us (Steinbeck 14). Their friendship is
what makes them different from all of the other men because they have someone else to rely on. On
the contrary, Slim and the other men in the workhouse travel alone. Slim explains that hardly none
of the guys ever travel together.... You know how the hands are, they just come in and get their
bunk and work a month, and then they quit and go out alone

Golden Circle Manipulation
In today s world manipulation is the norm. It starts from an early age, offering to trade
friendship for a piece of candy or a toy, and is used throughout our personal and professional lives
to get what we want. There are many forms of manipulating. Some invoke fear, the promise of
safety, or the opportunity to have a better version of you. Although, manipulation isn t the only
way to get people to do or boy what you d like. Why, how, and what are what is referred as the
Golden Circle. According to Simon Sinek (2009), the Golden Circle is what finds order and
predictability in our behavior. It allows us to understand why we do what we do. The most
important part of the Golden Circle is: Why. Everyone knows what he or she does and most people

Sour Dough Diet
Many Americans love the delicious, yet fattening, carbohydrate recognized as bread. Usually,
we all eat bread when it is stuffed with meat and cheese, but most can t resist the taste of certain
breads without the added accompaniments. Sour Dough bread, being a popular favorite, is
most commonly made by preparing your starter dough, feeding the starter dough, then finally
kneading and baking the loaves. The first step is making the starter dough. Before starting, make
sure you have a large, non metallic bowl for mixing. Making sure your bowls are non metallic
ensures that the dough will not ruin. Mix together dry yeast, two cups of warm water, and two
cups of all purpose flour. Once you have mixed all of your ingredients, obtain the mix with a
loose seal and leave the starter dough in a warm place to ferment for four to eight days and check
on it occasionally. Making sure the breadis well fermented will improve the quality of the dough.
Once the days have passed, the mixture is bubbly, and there is a pleasantly sour smell; the starter
dough is ready to be used. If the starter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After you take the start er dough out of the refrigerator and leave it on the counter for at least an

help the process stay organized. These dry ingredients include: sugar, bread flour, and potato
flakes. Once the ingredients are mingled together, contribute the mix with the existing starter
dough. Now the dough is fed and the mushy mess will need to sit and warm to room temperature.
Once bubbles start to float to the top, you are finally ready for your last step. After leaving the
dough out for a day, combine six cups of bread flour, one cup of sugar, one tablespoon of salt, a
half cup of oil, one and a half cups of the starter dough, and a half cup of warm water until the mix
is thick. This combination will take you to the last

Similarities Between The Rights Of Man And The Declaration...
The Declaration of Independence, written in 1776, outlines the wrongdoings of the British
government onto the thirteen colonies, and declares independence from Britain, and an important
document from the American Revolution. The Declaration of the Rights of Man, written thirteen
years after in 1789, is an important document from the French Revolution. The government, broken
down in three estates, treated the third estate, and the largest, poorly compared to the privileged
first and second estates. The Declaration of the Rights of Man was written to imply that citizens
have natural born rights and they should be treated equally. Although both Declarations have the

My Personal Experience In My Life
All throughout my life I was just an average kid who did average normal activities. I was never
very sociable or outgoing, but I still had a close group of friends. I wasn t very confident in
myself nor was I very disciplined. My life basically centered around video games with friends
and sports. I participated multiple sports such as cross country, nordic skiing, baseball, and track.
As I grew older I naturally became more confident, disciplined, and outspoken but not as much as I
would ve like to have been. In junior high, I looked up to the varsityrunners on the cross country
team. It was a goal of mine to be on that team and to do well, I never thought it would actually
happen. In my senior year it did, and we were great. We had a great season and even made it to
state, but doing well wasn t the most important acquisition of the year. In my final season I
became the hardworking, confident, disciplined, and outspoken person I am today. This is due
mainly to the team atmosphere, the coaches, and daily practice. The cross country team has
always felt like a family. Specific events were held just so athletes would feel included. One of
these events was called the weekendgetaway. During the weekend getaway all the athletes would
get on a bus and head to Sibley State Park camping grounds where we would enjoy a weekend of
running and activities. Board games, canoeing, and swimming would take up most of the day. The
team captains would work especially hard to get the older

The Rights Of Gun Control
In the United States the right to keep and bear arms is a right for Americans protected by the
Second Amendment to the Constitution. This Amendment has accounted for many vigorous
debates over the nature of its content. This has led for gun control to become an extremely
controversial area of American politics. It is primarily defined by two different groups, those
supporting gun control and those supporting gun rights. These groups often disagree on the
interpretation of laws and court cases related to firearms. Even more so, they disagree about the
effects of gun control on crime and the overall safety of the public. It is clearly in the interests, of
all Americans, to reduce gun violence in the country. Each day, on an average,... Show more content

The United States firearm homicide rate is twenty times higher than the combined rates of twenty
two countries in which are similar in wealth and population with the United States. Also, statistics
show homes containing a firearm are twenty two times more likely to be used to kill or injure in a
domestic homicide, suicide, or unintentional shooting than to be used in self defense. Since the
1990s, debates regarding firearm availability and gun violence in the United States have been
characterized by concerns about the right to bear arms. Gun control supporters believe broad,
unrestricted gun rights inhibit the government from fulfilling their responsibility to protect the
safety of the public. Also, these advocates state keeping guns out of the hands of criminals results
in safer communities. Gun rights supporters promote firearms for self defense, hunting, sporting
activities, and security against tyranny. Gun rights advocates also believe firearm ownership by
law abiding citizens reduces crime. However, many of these beliefs are based on nonfactual
evidence and, in fact, are quite false. Perhaps, one of the greatest myths believed today by this
debate is attempts to ban the possession of handguns, or certain kinds of guns, are a viable option
for reducing crime. It has often been proposed more guns mean more deaths and therefore, fewer
guns would equate to fewer deaths. Unfortunately, these thoughts are all too often

Courtly Love In The Knight s Tale
The Canterbury Tales, an anthology or collection of short stories was written by Geoffrey
Chaucer, as he participated in the pilgrimage to Canterbury with 29 other pilgrims by his side.
During their travels, each of them are responsible for telling four tales; and the pilgrim which
tells the best tale will receive dinner by the group. As four stories are to be told by each of the
pilgrims, each tale differs significantly as well as the themes of each. The Wife of Bath s Tale

The Wife of Bath s Tale shows the reader that all women want choices in life. When the old wife
of the Knight was able to make her own decision about her appearance, both of them were able to
have a prosperous and meaningful marriage. In addition to, Chaucer reiterates that women or all
females are also humans. They are not secondary humans, or any less than a man. In further detail,
the same respect that is given by males to their counterparts, that same respect should most
definitely be given to females to the least.
During both Tales we also incorporate two statements from the Art of Courtly Love. The Art of

act of love. This is also used in our modern age of relationships. Through marriages and
anniversaries, there is loving increasing. While when two lovers begin to separate it is when love
begins to decrease. In a negative view, we can see when a lover previously in a relationship
became jealous, they can become jealous hearted. These statements on love we experience regularly

Don Juan Legend Meaning
In all of the previous Don Juan legends Don Juan is doomed to hell for his mischievous deeds

Physical Therapy For The Rehabilitation Process
Physical Therapy
Definition of Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is the treatment of deformity, injury, or disease by healthcare professionals,
physical therapists, through hands on methods such as massage, exercise, or heat treatment so that
drugs or surgery may not be needed. In physical therapy sessions therapists work with patients to
help them improve their movement so that they are able to manage their pain. Physical therapy is an
active profession with a scientific base that helps patients to restore and to maintain optimal
physical function. Physical therapists take an active role in the rehabilitation process, in prevention
and health maintenance programs, and in fitness and wellness programs (PT Careers, 2015). Their

Patient examination in physical therapy includes measures such as strength, flexibility, range of
motion, motor function, and quality of life. After all of this has been done, a physical therapist uses
clinical reasoning to determine what is wrong with the patient and what should be done to help the
patient improve. He uses the gathered information to develop an individualized care plan for each
patient, indicating the patient s short and long term goals and expected outcomes as a result of the
therapy sessions (U.S. Bureau, 2015).
Once the plan has been established, the therapist works with his patient using stretches, exercises,
and hands on therapy to help alleviate pain, increase mobility, and prevent further injury. The
therapist evaluates and tracks the patient s progress and modifies the plan by trying new treatments
when needed. A physical therapist must be able to communicate well with patients, families, and
other healthcare professionals and must be able to show integrity and compassion for his patients.
Another important aspect of a physical therapist s job is to teach his patients appropriate ways to
perform certain tasks so that further injury does not occur, promoting future health and wellness
(U.S. Bureau, 2015).

Critically Examine Sociological Views of Sects in Society...
A sect is a subgroup of a religious, political or philosophical belief system, usually an offshoot of
a larger religious group. Although in past it was mostly used to refer to religious groups, it has
since expanded and in modern culture can refer to any organization that breaks away from a larger
one to follow a different set of rules and principles. Sects are smaller, less highly organised grouping
of committed believers who usually set themselves up in protest at what a church has become. Sects
usually have members who are usually numbered around the couple of hundred mark, showing the
main difference between them and the church.
According to Troeltsch (1931), sects are essentially the polar opposite of churches. They are much

Stark and Bainbridge (1985) are critical of typologies, arguing that there are always overlaps
between categories. Instead, they ran organisations on their tension contributed into society, as they
don t see all organised groups to be a threat. They say that Sects are small religious groups, which
are an offshoot of an existing religion and are in a high degree of tension with the outside world.
However, a problem with Stark and Bainbridge s definitions is that they argue that typologies do
not adequately categorise religions because the boundaries are not clear cut, but then produce their
own typology, which could be criticised for the same thing. For example, it is unclear how much
involvement members have to have for an organisation to be regarded as a sect.
Weber (1922), like Troeltsch, argues that sects tended to be amongst marginal groups in society,
that is, people outside the mainstream of social life who felt they weren t gaining economic
rewards from society they deserved. These sects developed a theodicy of disprivilege, which is a
religious explanation and justification for their disadvantages, which often promised them
salvation in the afterlife. Wilson (1970) also agrees with this explanation as he says that those in
situations like defeat in war, natural disasters and economic collapses would lead to these people
becoming marginalised and turning to new religions. However this isn t always the case as most

the Industrial Revolution s basic necessity known as petroleum. This resource is so valuable that it

In order to keep up with demand, the United States has been forced to rely on importing 80% of
its crude oil. This niche was filled from the creation of OPEC who uses price gouges to create an
economic boom in their country, through unifying and controlling the industry. This economic
boom produced by OPEC amounts to an annual 730 billion (U.S.) dollars. In order to fully
understand the magnitude of power this organization has, we can compare their annual income to
every country s GDP. After doing this we notice that OPEC would be the 20th wealthiest nation
trumping 167 countries in the process. This fact is mind boggling because when we talk about
GDP we are talking about the value of all the finished goods and services produced within a
country. When we talk about OPEC we are talking about a single product which is crude oil. This
is worrisome for many reasons, first and foremost being that countries who are not members of the
organization don t want one organization controlling and monopolizing such a valuable resource.
The effects of monopolizing a single product is the power of setting a single price that everyone
else needs to follow. This is why America and other non OPEC countries deal with gouging oil
prices. The reasoning for OPEC doing this is clear from ridiculous profit margins to political
influence. The power that OPEC holds was never more prevalent than in the 1973 embargo on the
U.S. and European nations over the Arab Israeli War. The

3. Ego conflicts: Ego conflicts occur when a dispute settles on status or power. The initial
arguments may be over some factual question that can be easily answered. However, the ego
conflict results when you argue who has the right facts. The question of which Republican had
the most votes during the presidential election becomes who knows more about politics. 4.
Value conflicts: Value conflicts focus on personal beliefs that you hold near and dear. Value
conflicts usually surface in personal relationships. For example, my boyfriend and I have been
dating for 6 months. We have discussed marriage with children. I am Catholic and he is a non
denominational Christian. When we discuss marriage, he constantly reminds me that he doesn t
believe in Catholicism. I am a practicing Catholic, he is not a practicing Christian. We have both
decided that eventually we will come to a compromise where both of our religious needs will be
met. 5. Need conflicts: Need conflicts usually occur when the needs of one individual are at odds
with the needs of another. For example, when you begin cooking Thanksgiving dinner for your
family and friends, and you begin a brand new recipe that requires your undivided attention so that
your measurements are precise; your cellular phone rings and your 6 month old wakes up from his
nap. Need conflicts are easily resolved by redefining or

Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
Ayn Rand is the author responsible for The Fountainhead, a lengthy novel that describes the
obstacles that a brashly visionary architect, Howard Roark, faces in a collectivist society. Howard
encounters several characters during his journey, the most notable of which is the humanitarian
Ellsworth Toohey, who represents everything Roark abhors philanthropism, egalitarianism, and
dependence on the thoughts of others. A conversation between Toohey and Roark, if it can even be
described as such, explains The Fountainheads central theme: the inherent liberation of one s soul
through the expression of individuality. The Fountainhead represents the struggle of the individual
in a collective state that approves neither creativity nor originality.... Show more content on

He uses selflessness to commit the ultimate act of dehumanization. He bullies, manipulates, and
takes advantage of his blind followers who are brainwashed into becoming puppets and
flatterers. Toohey s victims no longer are able to think for themselves. For Toohey, the ultimate
goal would be to also exploit and corrupt Roark s values. Ellsworth Toohey lives by the following
mantra: Tell man that he must live for others...Not a single one of them has ever achieved it and
not a single one ever will. His every living impulse screams against it (page xx). Even Toohey
himself acknowledges that such a way of life is impossible. He preaches false ideals and a false
utopia. Later on, Toohey describes the way in which he collects power: If you learn how to rule
one single man s soul, you can get the rest of mankind. It s the soul, Peter, the soul. Not whips or
swords or fire or guns. That s why the Caesars, the Attilas, the Napoleons were fools and did not
last. We will. The soul, Peter, is that which can t be ruled. It must be broken. Drive a wedge in,
get your fingers on it and the man is yours. (page xx) Howard Roark on the other hand, feels no
need to claim the souls of other individuals, not even that of Dominique Francon. He understands
and respects the private, unique quality of the soul. The soul is the very defining characteristic of a
man. The only soul Roark needs is his own.

Polonius Father
Fathers in plays, books, movies, etc., are portrayed in many different ways. Authors never make it
obvious as to the motivation behind the actions of the dads. Do they do it to protect their children,
or do they do it to make themselves look better? Shakespeare s Hamlet exemplifies this confusion
through Polonius. Right hand man to the king, and father to Laertes and Ophelia, many of
Polonius actions raise this question, but only one side can be true. Throughout the play, Polonius
uses his charm and wit to control Laertes, Ophelia, and Claudius, in order to preserve his position
in court. To start, Laertes, Polonius son, does not have much control over his own life. However,
he gets a chance at freedom when he proposes to his father and the king that... Show more content

In Act I Scene III, after Laertes leaves on his trip to France, Polonius enquires about the rumors
about her and Young Hamlet. Of course these rumors WERE found out from Polonius spies: spies
that follow Ophelia. Ophelia, in all her innocence, tries to convince her father that Hamlet s
actions resemble the purest intentions of wooing her. Polonius advice says, Do not believe his
vows; for they are brokers, / Not of that dye which their investments show, / ... I would not, in
plain terms, from this time forth, / Have you so slander any moment leisure, / As to give words
or talk with Lord Hamlet (1.3.128 135). Polonius believes that Hamlet s only intentions of
getting Ophelia in bed will ruin her. In the 13th and 14th centuries, a women s chastity WAS a

but he who took it. How would that look on Polonius? Having a daughter that lost her only virtue

fool out of herself and himself. Polonius control does not stop at his children, for he holds some

The Role Of Journalism And Its Impact On Journalism
Historically, professional journalism has been built around two fundamentals: visual and textual.
While numbers have played a role in journalism as well, journalists have constantly downplayed
their importance in making up the professional skillset, which leads to a difficulty in presenting
numerical data responsibly and accurately (Maier 2002). A noteworthy is the subfield of computer
assisted reporting, which focuses on examining quantitative data through a journalistic lens. Over
the past several years, this data driven form of journalismhas become more important within the
profession as it has joined with the increasingly ever present digitization of personal and public
information. As more information continues to become increasingly zeroes and ones at the most
basic level, journalism has increasingly been involved in gathering, analyzing, and computing that
information as well as quantitative data.
This surge of quantitatively focused journalism has deep democratic roots with numerous forms
tied to the public service tradition of investigative journalism (Cox 2000) and open government
advocacy (Parasie and Dagiral 2012). It has great potential to increase journalism s ability to make
democratic institutions more understandable and receptive to the public, but even within this
subfield of journalism, views of the public and the journalistic process are different. While the
computer assisted reporting of the 1990s was usually a single, unified concept for both scholars

You will not be able to design new systems successfully without understanding the culture, politics,

embedded in their information systems. If this changes and has a negative effect on the overall

Fear The Walking Dead Persuasive Essay
This past Sunday, AMC graced us with the premier of Fear the Walking Dead, a spin off of the
amazing, The Walking Dead TV series. While I am not a huge fan of spin offs in general, I must
say that I was impressed.
The following may contain spoilers, so if you haven t had the chance to see the premier, I would
highly recommend doing so before reading further.
So why should you watch Fear the Walking Dead? Because I said you should! And the fact that the
first episode will have you hooked, well, if you are a Walking Dead fan that is.
So where does Fear the Walking Dead fit into The Walking Dead universe? Well that s easy, it
takes place prior to the events of The Walking Dead, and on the west coast. More or less the
beginning of zombie infection.
In TWD, Rick wakes from a coma, to an unrecognizable world. Essentially a zombie apocalypse
where food and supplies are hard to come by. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of the completely depressing feel of TWD world, we are given a much more active,
slightly less depressing feel in FTWD. Why do I say slightly less depressing? Well the fact that
the first episode opens in an abandoned and run down church which is a haven for drug users,
might be a good reason. Or, the fact that our opening character, Nick, a junkie, witnesses the girl
he was with, eating someones face off. I could be wrong. Throughout the episode, we get to learn
about Nick s somewhat dysfunctional family and hints of the zombie apocalypse starting to unfold.
There are also hints that the drug that Nick has been using, is causing people to become zombies.
Of course, nobody understands what is going on yet, not even Nick. Everything starts to be put in
perspective when Nick s drug dealer, Calvin, attempts to kill him, only to get killed himself. After
fleeing the location and then returning with his mother, Madison, and step father, Travis, Nick

The Between Westminster And Brussels
Nowadays, legislation of both Westminster and Brussels has become the main source of the law
for the UK. Moreover, United Kingdom has its own law, which is called English legal system
equally Brussels has a major role within the UK as it part of the predominant source for the UK.
Therefore, this paper will firstly examine and give brief description of the legislative power. Then,
it will define the legislative powers of both Westminster and Brussels and their roles. Consequently,
it will explain the important roles and show how these roles are played by the English courts and
the European courts of justice (ECJ). Also, it will show how Brussels enforce compliance with
treaty provisions and explain how European Unioncitizens approach the European courts of justice.
Since United Kingdom joined to the European Union it has gradually and effectively passed its
power of making law that have an impact to the European institutions. Also, United Kingdom s
legislative, executive and judicial powers are controlled by the framework of the European
Community (Slapper and Kelly, 2010 p.65). The legislation is considered as the primary sources
of English law and made by the Parliament. Also, Parliament it is a supreme law making body
and can make law or reject and amend legislation. However, by the United Kingdom s
membership of the EU per EC Act 1972 the Parliament s power of creating law has been limited

Oil Sand in Alberta
Alberta is a province that is rich and abundant in natural resources such as oil sands. What are oil
sands? Oil reserves play a very important role in the Canadian economy. Oil sands from areas such
as Alberta have been described as Canadians greatest buried energy treasure by popular magazines
such as Time magazine. Oil sandsare a naturally existing mixture of sand, clay and other
materials such as water and bitumen. Some materials in oil sands including bitumen are highly
viscous that they need to be treated and refined before they can be used by industrial sites in
order to produce fuels such as gasoline. Oil sands can be refined to make oil. There are
approximately 170.4 billion barrels of oil that can be used in the Northern part of Alberta.
Approximately 80% of the oil sands can be recovered through the In situ production. 20% of the
80% is oil that can be recovered and purified by mining. Bitumen, a highly viscous material in oil
sands is found by mining 90% of the time. While oil sands have a positive effect on us, it has a
very negative effect on the environment. Oil sands have a very negative effect on aquatic
ecosystems all around the world. Oil sands use up a lot of the water and energy. At present, two
to five barrels of natural and recycled water are needed for every barrel of oil produced for
mining. Oil sand project affect the natural aquatic ecosystems. Some of the negative effects oil

The Greatest Single Cause Of The War Essay
The greatest single cause of the war was the system of secret alliances which developed. How far
do you agree with this interpretation on what caused World War One. The first world war
between the triple entente and the triple alliance is said to be the first modern war. A previously
unseen number of human lives were lost on both sides and because of this when the war ended
it came to be known as the war to end all wars as said by the former president of the United States
Woodrow Wilson. The interpretation above is correct but only to a certain extent, one must
understand and fully asses all the factors of the war before making a judgement. There are two
clear origins for the start of WW1, long term origins and short term origins. Both must be
analysed and assessed properly in order to make a just statement in regard to the main cause of
WW1. There are four generalised long term origins of the first world war, Nationalism,
Imperialism, Militarism and the world war one alliances. However, it must be stated that the
long term causes of the war are far more complex and must be dissected and analysed in depth
before truly understanding the long term causes of the war. A short term analysis aims to explain
why the war began when it did, how and why the European powers went to war and how the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of
Hohenberg played a part in the start of the war. This division of the work will help, to qualify

Functional Approaches To Iron Man
1. In relation to the functional approaches to persuasion, this advertisement utilizes symbolic
functions of attitude. The slogan The sneaker makes the man, which implies masculinity and style,
and the connection to Iron Man, a character who represents many men s dreams of style, money,
and sex appeal, are both symbols that work to represent the shoe and the positive consequences the
buyer would see after a purchase. They help to persuade the buyer of the manliness of the product,
and the status that would come with owning it. This appeal to manliness also connects the
advertisement to the ego defensive functions of attitude, and appeals to these men s need to defend
their masculine self image.
Though shoes are multi functional objects, the advertisers have chosen to appeal to high self
monitors through this symbolic imagery. Though the specific monitoring of the audience is
unknown, Nike shoes often appeal to those who are high self monitors, as buyers are willing to
pay a high price to obtain the brand recognition and high status that accompanies the purchase of
the Nike brand. The advertisers should choose to print this advertisement in media that focuses on a
man s self image, such as a men s fashion magazine.
The advertisement also connects to balance theory by using the celebrity endorsement of Iron Man.
This form of persuasion works with buyers who have a positive liking relationship with Iron Man,
and perceive that the character, or the company behind the character, has a positive liking
relationship with the shoe. To keep their attitudes in balance, the buyer will then also have a
positive liking relationship toward the shoe.
Though it is an advertising context, the persuader has chosen not to offer any counter arguments or
refutations, and has kept the message one sided. This could be because the Nike brand does not
feel as if it needs to enhance its credibility with a two sided argument, as Nike is already a credible
source on self image management through its long standing success of managing a brand that
represents style, wealth, and high status.
2. This advertisement is best suited to buyers who hold attitudes with instrumental functions
because it attempts to persuade using

The Spread of Soviet-Backed Communism Across Eastern...
The Spread of Soviet Backed Communism Across Eastern Europe after 1945 In seeking to
provide an answer to the question, Was the spread of Soviet backed communism inevitable
across Eastern Europe after 1945?, I would like to point to the words of a contemporary
specialist. At the end of World War II, R. R. Betts, the Masaryk Professor of Central European
History at London University, asserted that much of the revolution in central and eastern Europe
is native and due to the efforts of the peoples and their own leaders . . . [making it] clear that
even if the Soviet Union had not been so near and so powerful, revolutionary changes would have
come at the end of so destructive and subversive a war as that which ended... Show more content on

Yet there are many such cases within the purview of this question. However, I do not completely
disagree with the thesis of inevitability of Soviet backed communism or at least some form of
authoritarianism. Thus, in the first section of this paper, I will air much of the support for that
assertion and conclude that it was highly likely Soviet backed communism would eventually
accomplish what it did. However, in a second section, I will argue that this outcome was hardly a
fait accompli in 1945. Neither the subtleties of Eastern Europe s possible economic relations with
the West in the form of the Marshall plan nor the lack of uniformity of the processes by which
different states became Soviet satellites bear out the thesis of inevitability. The main strands of the
argument for the inevitability of both authoritarianism and Soviet backed communism follow: The
liberal democracies established in Eastern Europe after World War I were enfeebled by many
factors, so much so that by the beginning of World War II, authoritarianism was already the norm.
Thus, the post war step to further authoritarianism was not very large. The Wilsonian attempt at
creating nations produced conditions hardly less destabilizing than those that had characterized the
pre 1914 period, chiefly because of the sheer number of different ethnicities with the vehement
desire . . . to secure revision of the post war settlement (Lewis 28, 30). The

Fargo, and the role of Setting
Fargo, a dark and somewhat humorous crime movie by the Coen Brothers delves into themes of
isolation, morality, and greed. And throughout the film, a very prominent role is played by the
setting. The Coen brothers make sure that no one misses where the story takes place small town
upper Midwest in the middle of a frigid winter. The film makes extensive use of the frozen
landscape, the characterization of rural Midwesterners, and realistic depiction of the events of the
story in order to emphasize these themes. There is a great deal of contrast in this movie between
moral and amoral characters as well as contrast between what the viewer expects from such dark ...

This is a powerful image that clearly shows the crushed Jerry and his increasing feeling of solitude.
Another use of the setting comes in the form of the characterization. A big contributor to the story
and feel of the film is the characterization of the characters in the film. Again, this Midwestern
setting becomes obvious when the viewer hears the strong upper Midwest accents used by all the
residents of rural Minnesota. Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and
moral, and that becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are
portrayed.
Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by
Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the
stereotypical nice attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break this
demeanor. Even though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in the
case, she maintains this even tempered friendly attitude.
This optimistic and positive outlook hides her very sharp mind for crime, and contrasts greatly with
the sinister things that are taking place around her. This emphasizes the nature of the events that
have come to pass. Throughout the movie, the disparity between the demeanor of the characters
and surrounding events creates a subtle humor really a second viewing of the movie to

The Differences Between Westernized American Culture And...
East Asian Culture This world we live in is such a diverse place with many different cultures,
religions, and traditions. Every culture has their own traditions and rules that they abide by, because
this is the norm for that culture. By stepping out of what you were taught in your culture, and
choosing to learn and try to understand why other cultures do things differently, you earn a new
perceptive on this world. You earn a new respect for not only this other culturethat you are learning
about, but also for your own culture. This paper will be comparing and contrasting the differences
between westernized American culture and East Asian Islamic culture, with a focus on how gender
and religion can influence the everyday life of the individuals living in these different cultures.
American culture can be very diverse on its own; it is the melting pot after all. There are many
different cultures practiced in America, but one may not necessarily be exposed to all of them.
This is very evident in my own situation, because I am from a very small town in southern Indiana.
Being from a small town means that everyone knows everything, about everyone. That being said,
we only have a few families in my home town who were not your typical white, Christian family.

The Monkey s Paw Poem Analysis
What would you do if you had the opportunity to make 3 wishes? Would you do it? The story The

The Monkey s Paw brought great calamity to the whole family. In the end, I think that the father

Strategies In The Cold War
The Cold War began in the years 1945 1950 between the countries of the United States and the
Soviet Union. In the Cold War consisted of many different strategies that were used to intimidate or
scare the opponent. A few of these strategies consisted of using fear, the Arms Race, and the use of
Financial Aid. This was a war fought without using harmful machinery weapons.
In the Cold War fear was a big strategy that was used to scare the other country that they are
battling. In an excerpt from the Secretary of State Marshals speech it is trying to get you to fear
the outcome of poverty. In Europe it was going to be very common to lose your job, lose your
home, or even begin to starve to death. This began to scare people which is just what they want
to do so that people will feel bad and jump in to help. In the North American Treaty it is said that
armed forces will be used if it is completely necessary. If we feel threatened or as if there is no
other reasonable choice we will return the harmful threats right back to the U.S.S.R and try to make
our point see more stiff and threatening to show them that we mean business. This is only one of

Taking a Look at Title IX
Title IX was a law signed in to make sure than no one is excluded based on gender. When the law
was signed in, the numbers showed that it helped get women more involved in sports. However,
with more women involved in sports, men are still the favored gender and women are
discriminated against. Women are discriminated against in sports shown by fewer opportunities in
high school and college level sports, unequal treatment of women college athletes, and unfair
opportunities and treatment to women coaches. Title IX was signed in 1972 and states that No
person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied
the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity
receiving Federal financial assistance (Anderson). With the law being signed in, a 560% increase

12 Monkeys and Society s Perception of Drugs Essay
Illegal Drugs vs. Psych Ward Drugs
The definition of drugs ranges from supposedly positive to automatically classified as negative.
But who is to say which drug is bad and which drug is considered good. In the movie entitled 12
Angry Men the director Terry Gilliam used this film to bring about an idea that I had to rethink.
This movie was released on the 27 of December in 1995, this movie s genre is often questionable
but for the most part it is an Action, Thriller, Sci Fi. The two characters that the drugs affected the
most were the main character James Cole played by Bruce Willis and another important character
Jeffrey played by Brad Pit. Our society often contradicts themselves when it comes to distributing

The definition of a Drug according to dictionary.com is A chemical substance, such as a narcotic
or hallucinogen, that affects the central nervous system, causing changes in behavior and often
addiction and A substance used in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of a disease or as a
component of a medication. Being a controlled substance we automatically classify drugs as an
illegal act that is not often accepted. In our society today you can go to jail for possession and
possession with intent to supply. Our generation is receiving years in jail or the misuse and
overdose of drugs. Drugs are abused everyday by teens and adults and often looked down upon.
Numerous accidents have occurred do to the abuse of some drugs. Drugs in our society today are
initially thought of as bad, and then we come to the understanding that there are other types of
drugs that may in fact not be bad but used for good.
Illegal drugs are portrayed in our society as really bad, but the use of drugs is abused in psych
wards and other facilities also. From previous research I learned that Thorazine is an antipsychotic
drug, used as a major tranquilizers. So it is ok for our government and other higher authority to
allow the use of tranquilizers on humans and

Biological Determinism
1. Introduction
The nineteenth century saw the start of the scientific debate in which brain size was presumed to
indicate intelligence. Which in turn lead some scientists to the conclusion that men, having on
average a larger brain size than women, may be more intelligent.
The industrial revolution, and the work by Darwin in biological determinism, are described by
Radek (2008) as having created a significant distinction between the nature and roles of men and
women, during the nineteenth century. While women were allowed to be educated, they were
discouraged, as it was perceived to be harmful towards the family, and as a possible cause for
uterine dysfunction and madness (Radek, 2008). In addition, biological determinism and social

Studies by Broca concluded that, on average, the brain of a women is one hundred and eighty one
grams lighter than that of a man, or fourteen percent (Gould, 1978). However, not all researchers
are convinced of these findings. Researcher Gould (1978) explains how Broca may not have
allowed for variations in height, body shape or degeneration when comparing his measurements.
However, Rushton (1997) counters that even Gould s revision of Broca s data indicates a

Ruff Life
In the Rhetorical Situation, Lloyd F. Bitzer argues that what makes a situation rhetorical is similar
to that which constitutes a moral action as he writes that, an act is moral because it is an act
performed in a situation of a certain kind; similarly, a work is rhetorical because it is a response to
a situation of a certain kind . (3) By defining the rhetorical situation in this way, Bitzer further
contends that rhetoric is a means to altering reality . (4) It is through the use of discourse that one
is capable of changing reality through thought and action . (4) While Bitzer notes that there are
more parameters for a situation to qualify as being rhetorical, he ... Show more content on

Essay Father and Son
Father and Son Just whom is Edmund Gosse s Father and Son written for? Is it for the Father, or
for the Son, or, as Edmund Gosse tells us, for the public, so they can have a record of life in a
rigidly religious family? Edmund begins his book by telling you that it is a historical record, an
important chronicle that is to be used, basically as a reference for a period of time. Yet, in the
first sentence of the first chapter, we can see that this is truly not his purpose. The first words on
the page does not reference a historical event; they are, instead, cathartic. Edmund tries very hard to
convince his reader that this is not an autobiography (217). Try as he might, he did not persuade me.
I will grant that for Edmund ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not the only narcissistic angle of the book. Even when reiterating episodes in the life of
the Gosse s he does it in reference to himself. If this were to chronicle two temperaments, two
consciences....two epochs there would be more than one perspective. Do we once hear of Philip
Gosse s reactions or feelings about his wife dying? We do not, we merely get the reactions of
what he does from his son. Do we know what he thought those nights alone without his wife? No,
we do not. Edmund did not take the time to find out. He even apologizes when he said, Had I
been older and more intelligent, of course, it might have been him, and not of myself that I should
have been thinking. Yet, still thinking of himself, he states, This is not to be dwelt on here. Of
course it isn t Edmund, it is an autobiography, it is about you.
Edmund, we know would argue that. He tries to take the spotlight off of himself. Being the type of
person that he is, the always goes back to talking about himself. In the last numerical chapter of the
book, Edmund tells of an apocalyptic event, a noteworthy action worthy of ending a book on...his
transcendence into heaven. His epiphany is quickly grounded by reality. Nothing happens. His ego
is shattered. HIS ego, Edmund s ego. This catalytic event puts an emotional and spiritual division
between father and son that puts the thick o the world between them. Although in the Epilogue
Edmund is apologetic

The Importance Of Identity In My Life
What is Identity? For almost everyone, they would say that it is who you are. But, it means so
much more. Identity is the experiences that will influence your life. Your identity is who you are
and the decisions you make. Without identity, you wouldn t be who you are today. Your identity
can change in a matter of seconds, and there is no way to ensure one s outcome
In my life, I have had various events that contribute to my identity. One of the biggest events that
have affected my life is when I had my first seizure. I was around the age of five. It was around 5
at night, and I was at my babysitter s house. That night when we were eating dinner, I know that
I didn t like the type of pizza it was because it was supreme. Once I had finished my breadstick, I
was going to grab another one. In an instant, my babysitter, Laurie, had slapped my hand. I didn t
cry, but it did make me upset because she could have said no. After a couple of minutes, my
vision became very blurry, and all I could hear was a ringing noise. My body went numb, and all
of a sudden everything went black. When I came to I was on the floor with a throbbing
headache. My babysitter had already called my mother, and she was already on her way to the
house. She only worked a couple minutes away from her house so it didn t take very long for her
to arrive there. When she came inside the house, she looked scared. She kept asking me what
happened, but I had no idea. She then grabbed my shoes and took me to the

Write An Essay On Hemophilia
Hemophilia describes a group of sever congenital coagulation factor deficiencies. It is a lifelong
genetic disorder with a prevalence of 1:10,000 birth and that of the most severe form of the
disease to be approximately 6% per 1,00,000 Population (1). Depending on the activity of
coagulant factor VIII or IX in blood, hemophilia may be labeled as severe ( 1% of normal),
moderate (1 4%) or mild (5 25%) (2) . hemophilia is characterized by recurrent haemarthroses
inside the less muscular padding joints as knees, elbows and ankles joints (3).
Because immature cartilage is even more susceptible to spontaneous bleeding, most of hemophilic
children experience repeated episodes of hemorrhage into their joints (4). Intra articular bleeding of
synovial joints has a direct destructive effect on cartilage which triggers the joint degenerative
process (5) and impact on the total motor development of children and youngsters (6). Patients with
hemophilia often used to have a sedentary lifestyle because of repeated uncontrollable hemarthroses

John Augustine s Confessing And Recounting Moments
Saint Augustine, also known as Augustine of Hippo, was born on 354 AD in a North African
county in present day Algeria. Throughout of his life, Augustine has endured a lot of hard ships
and lessons that he wanted to share with others. He decided in 397 AD to compose an
autobiographical book confessing and recounting moments in his life. Confessions by Saint
Augustine are a 13 book series comprised of Augustine s life and how he became to be one of the
most important priests during his time.
During Book I, Augustine recalls his childhood and how it was like growing up and turning into a
young man. He begins his book in an opening prayer, praising his lord and raises the question how
can we see God if we do not know who he is. He mentions how anything that exists and creation
contains God because he created the Earth. This answers to the question answers how Augustine
found God in a sense that, he saw others around him and believed that God was present in
everything he has done. An example given in his book is how the comforts of human milk were
waiting for him, but God gave him the milk in his mother s breast to nourish him. This is in
accordance to the plan of creation.
He later recalls his and other babies experience with crying and pouting for the milk. Augustine
believes that babies are not innocent because the get jealous and sin. The only innocent feature on
a baby is their frame. He is using babies as a metaphor in saying that all humans are born with
original sin.

In Joyce Carol Oates Where are you going, where have you been, family influence is shown to be
a key factor in the molding of a child s character, who they are. Connie, the protagonist of Oates
short story, missed out on this key due to lack in positive family influence. Connie, insecure and
vulnerable, was led straight into the arms of Arnold, because her familybelittled her, caused her dual
personality and omitted proper guidance.
First of all, Connie s parents played no role in improving her self image. Connie s mother, having
aged out of her prime, was jealous of her daughter s beauty, criticizing her whenever the
opportunity presented itself. Connie s mother would yell at her younger daughter, Stop gawking at
yourself, who are you? You think you re so pretty? (312). This constant scolding chipped away at
Connie s confidence, leaving her yearning for affirmation, someone to say she is such a pretty girl

or to a movie often, not because they provided temporary entertainment to kill time, but to watch
as boys want her. One night in midsummer they ran across [to a restaurant], breathless with
daring, and right away someone leaned out a car window and invited them over, but it was just
a boy from high school they didn t like. It made them feel good to be able to ignore him (313).

Violence Next Door Analysis
The social stratification of people can be affected by many things. In most cases people are
affected by economic factors. In class we watched documentaries that shows different economic
struggles and other structural inequalities. The documentaries were Violence Next Door: Growing
up in the Favelas and The Other Side of Immigration. They both showed different economic factors
from different places. One of the documentaries we watched in class called ViolenceNext Door:
Growing up in the Favelas followed teenagers in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Baltimore City,
Maryland. The documentary was made to show the lives of teens that live in what people call

This documentary interviewed families from Mexico that have members who crossed the
border to The United States to find better labor opportunities. The border has been set to protect
illegal immigrants from crossing the border. Despite the protection of the borders, several
Mexicans are able to cross by being smuggled in or finding their own way in. They prefer to go
to The U.S because they get paid more per hour than they would earn in Mexico. They return
after a couple of months and sometimes years, but they cross the border because there are
factors in Mexico that drive them away. The economic factors that affects these families are
NAFTA, government corruption, and lack of technology and resources. The North American
Free Trade Agreement is a treaty between Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The trade
agreement made costs of production higher for people in Mexico. Importation of goods such as
meats, fruits, and veggies started to come in from the United States and caused loss of
businesses in Mexico. The government in Mexico does not provide funding for businesses to
grow. Local officials don t share money provided by the government fairly. Subsidy for
businesses are difficult to find because their government don t notify people when funding is
available. The mayor is corrupted in a way that he bribes others for votes and picks certain
people to help. The government is also the reason why there is a lack of technology and
resources for businesses to grow. The business owners could not afford the technology for fast
production like the United States can provide. These economic factors affects the families that are
left behind in Mexico while a member crosses the border. Families are torn apart for months and
sometimes years just so they can make a better living from the money earned in the U.S. The
children of families that cross the border have

A Trot of Negligence
A tort of negligence is a breach of duty or failure of one party to commit to the standard of care
required by law, resulting in damage to the party whom the duty was owed. Annie would have
an action in negligence claiming compensatory damages for personal injury suffered as a result
of Brett s negligence. Annie s personal harm, involving a fractured back was directly related to
Brett s careless behavior of not cleaning up the alleged mess. The plaintiff Annie, has the burden
of proof, and would need to prove that the defendant, Brett owed her a duty of care, and was carless
in failing to do as a reasonable personwould have done, resulting in the damages suffered by the
plaintiff. The elements must be proven on the balance of probabilities.
Duty of Care
According to the case Donoghue v. Stevenson [1932] AC 562 the duty of care states that the
reasonable foreseeability test is sufficient to establish a duty of care where the damage is
physical and careless manner is an act or an omission. There is a high risk of serious physical
damage from the slippery mess not being cleaned up. Brett was the manager at the Tavern and
owed every party goer, including Annie a duty of care. The physical damage that the plaintiff
suffered was a fractured back. This test must be executed to determine whether a duty of care
exists and looks to the foreseeability of a reasonable person in the position of the defendant.

Kanban Pros And Cons
Kanban (literally signboard or billboard) is a system for scheduling for lean and just in time (JIT)
production. It is a controlling system the logistical chain from a view of production, and is not an
inventory control system. Taiichi Ohno developed Kanban, at Toyota, to find a system for
improvement and maintainence of high level of production.
Kanban became an effective tool in support of running a production system as one, and it has
proved by becoming an excellent way for promoting improvement. Areas where problems occurred
were highlighted by reducing the number of kanbans in circulation.
Origin of KANBAN:
In the late 1940s, Toyota started studying supermarkets with the idea of apply storing and shelf
stocking techniques to the factory floor. At a supermarket, the required quantity is only obtained
by the customers at the required time, no more or less. Furthermore, what it is expected to sell
within a given time frame is only stocked by the supermarket, and only what is needed by the
customers they take, since supply in the future is assured. This observation of the supermarket led
Toyota to viewing the processes as being a customer of one or more preceding processes, and the
processes which are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this trend has begun to lead to a reduction of the use of kanban cards, it is still holding

through e mail notifications. When the stocks of a particular component gets depleted by the
quantity assigned on kanban card, a kanban trigger is created (which can be manual or automatic),
an order for purchasing is released with the predefined quantity for the vendor defined on the card,
and the vendor is expected to dispatch the material within a specified lead

The First Step Out Of Bondage
Kevin Bales stated in Understanding Global Slavery , For some slaves, the first step out of
bondage is to learn to see their lives with new eyes. Their reality is a social world where they have
their place and some assurance of a subsistence diet. Born into slavery, they cannot easily redefine
their lives outside the frame of enslavement. Indentured servitude was technically a fancy way to
call someone a slave. When the first settlers came to North America and realized they didn t know
how to survive on this unknown land, their only solution was to find someone else to figure it out
for them. Because early Americans didn t want to anything for themselves, the indentured servitude
system was created, indentured servitude led to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An indentured servant was, a majority of the time, poor citizens from England or male and female
convicts who needed to serve out their time. The job of the indentured was the same as a simple
housemaid or laborers. The men would take care of gardening, coachmen, butcher, ect. While
the women would simply do the laundry, sew, or any other simple housekeeping. The idea of
indentured servitude first came after young Englishmen needed a free way to the new world so
they could start anew. Indentured servitude first came to exist in the United States in 1620. This
system provided incentives for both the master and servant to increase the working population
of the new colonies formed in the New Word. This system seemed to benefit the servant as well.
Each indentured servant would have their fare across the Atlantic paid in full by their master. A
contract was written that ensure the length of service which was typically five years. The servant
would be supplied room and board while working in the master s fields. Upon completion of the
contract, the servant would receive freedom dues, a pre arranged termination bonus. This could
include land, money, a gun, clothes or food. On the surface it seemed like a terrific way for the
English men to make a great living just after 5 years of work, however, this was not often the case.
Just under half of indentured servants would not finish

Path Analysis Paper
Main analyses involved running each of three models through AMOS SEM software separately,
using path analysis techniques to assess direct and indirect effects, among the present observed
variables (Arbuckle, 2013). Path analysis, which is based on multiple regressions, examines the
relationship between exogenous (i.e., variablenot causes by another variable, but effects one or
more variablesin model) and endogenous variables (i.e., a variable that is caused or effected by
one or more variables in a model; Iacobucci, 2010). Path models examine the total effects, as well
as the direct and indirect of effects of variables in a single model, simultaneously (Peterson et al.,
2014). Structural equation modeling path analysis techniques are superior to standard regression
analyses in that they: 1) provide more accurate estimates of the effects of hypothesized variables; 2)
estimate all effects simultaneously; 3) allow for greater accuracy of parameter estimates when
examining competing models; and 4) allow the researcher to compare effects of multiple mediators
(Zhao, Lynch, Chen, 2010).

  • 4. The Importance Of Human Nature In Of Mice And Men Stories and other literary forms are often used to showcase different aspects of human nature. John Steinbeck uses the story Of Mice and Men to display the truth behind human aspirations and emotions. Steinbeck exhibits both the kindness and the cruelty that lies within everyone. Through both symbolism and direct statements, the readers can understand the different struggles and motives of each character. Of Mice and Men shows the world through the perspective of many people from different backgrounds, including workers, women, the mentally ill, and colored people. Though the characters appear drastically different, they all have dreams and yearn to belong. In Of Mice and Men, Steinbeck is trying to show the importance of friendship, the impossibility of the American dream, and the discrimination in the 1930 s. Many characters in the story go without friendship, causing them to feel alone in the world. George and Lennie are the only characters introduced that stick together. George and Lennie say multiple times that we got a future. We got somebody to talk to that gives a damn about us (Steinbeck 14). Their friendship is what makes them different from all of the other men because they have someone else to rely on. On the contrary, Slim and the other men in the workhouse travel alone. Slim explains that hardly none of the guys ever travel together.... You know how the hands are, they just come in and get their bunk and work a month, and then they quit and go out alone ... Usually, we all eat bread when it is stuffed with meat and cheese, but most can t resist the taste of certain breads without the added accompaniments. Sour Dough bread, being a popular favorite, is most commonly made by preparing your starter dough, feeding the starter dough, then finally kneading and baking the loaves. The first step is making the starter dough. Before starting, make sure you have a large, non metallic bowl for mixing. Making sure your bowls are non metallic ensures that the dough will not ruin. Mix together dry yeast, two cups of warm water, and two cups of all purpose flour. Once you have mixed all of your ingredients, obtain the mix with a loose seal and leave the starter dough in a warm place to ferment for four to eight days and check on it occasionally. Making sure the breadis well fermented will improve the quality of the dough. I was never very sociable or outgoing, but I still had a close group of friends. I wasn t very confident in myself nor was I very disciplined. My life basically centered around video games with friends and sports. I participated multiple sports such as cross country, nordic skiing, baseball, and track. As I grew older I naturally became more confident, disciplined, and outspoken but not as much as I would ve like to have been. In junior high, I looked up to the varsityrunners on the cross country team. It was a goal of mine to be on that team and to do well, I never thought it would actually happen. In my senior year it did, and we were great. We had a great season and even made it to state, but doing well wasn t the most important acquisition of the year. In my final season I became the hardworking, confident, disciplined, and outspoken person I am today. This is due mainly to the team atmosphere, the coaches, and daily practice. The cross country team has always felt like a family. Specific events were held just so athletes would feel included. One of these events was called the weekendgetaway. During the weekend getaway all the athletes would get on a bus and head to Sibley State Park camping grounds where we would enjoy a weekend of running and activities. This Amendment has accounted for many vigorous debates over the nature of its content. This has led for gun control to become an extremely controversial area of American politics. It is primarily defined by two different groups, those supporting gun control and those supporting gun rights. These groups often disagree on the interpretation of laws and court cases related to firearms. Even more so, they disagree about the effects of gun control on crime and the overall safety of the public. It is clearly in the interests, of all Americans, to reduce gun violence in the country. Each day, on an average,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States firearm homicide rate is twenty times higher than the combined rates of twenty two countries in which are similar in wealth and population with the United States. Also, statistics show homes containing a firearm are twenty two times more likely to be used to kill or injure in a domestic homicide, suicide, or unintentional shooting than to be used in self defense. Since the 1990s, debates regarding firearm availability and gun violence in the United States have been characterized by concerns about the right to bear arms. Gun control supporters believe broad, unrestricted gun rights inhibit the government from fulfilling their responsibility to protect the safety of the public. Also, these advocates state keeping guns out of the hands of criminals results in safer communities. Gun rights supporters promote firearms for self defense, hunting, sporting activities, and security against tyranny. Gun rights advocates also believe firearm ownership by law abiding citizens reduces crime. However, many of these beliefs are based on nonfactual evidence and, in fact, are quite false. Perhaps, one of the greatest myths believed today by this debate is attempts to ban the possession of handguns, or certain kinds of guns, are a viable option for reducing crime. It has often been proposed more guns mean more deaths and therefore, fewer guns would equate to fewer deaths. Unfortunately, these thoughts are all too often ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Instead of vanishing into the painful flames of hell Don Juan was allowed to float away as an angel with his love Dona InГ©s. This astonishing ending drew quite a lot of curiosity as to why Zorrilla would allow such an evil and deceitful man to flourish in heaven. The same sins of lying, cheating, and killing were committed in all the Don Juan legends just as this one which is why I did not understand what allowed Don Juan to be granted salvation. After all of this has been done, a physical therapist uses clinical reasoning to determine what is wrong with the patient and what should be done to help the patient improve. He uses the gathered information to develop an individualized care plan for each patient, indicating the patient s short and long term goals and expected outcomes as a result of the therapy sessions (U.S. Bureau, 2015). Once the plan has been established, the therapist works with his patient using stretches, exercises, and hands on therapy to help alleviate pain, increase mobility, and prevent further injury. The therapist evaluates and tracks the patient s progress and modifies the plan by trying new treatments when needed. A physical therapist must be able to communicate well with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals and must be able to show integrity and compassion for his patients. Another important aspect of a physical therapist s job is to teach his patients appropriate ways to perform certain tasks so that further injury does not occur, promoting future health and wellness (U.S. Bureau, 2015). • 18. Critically Examine Sociological Views of Sects in Society... A sect is a subgroup of a religious, political or philosophical belief system, usually an offshoot of a larger religious group. Although in past it was mostly used to refer to religious groups, it has since expanded and in modern culture can refer to any organization that breaks away from a larger one to follow a different set of rules and principles. Sects are smaller, less highly organised grouping of committed believers who usually set themselves up in protest at what a church has become. Sects usually have members who are usually numbered around the couple of hundred mark, showing the main difference between them and the church. Stark and Bainbridge (1985) are critical of typologies, arguing that there are always overlaps between categories. Instead, they ran organisations on their tension contributed into society, as they don t see all organised groups to be a threat. They say that Sects are small religious groups, which are an offshoot of an existing religion and are in a high degree of tension with the outside world. However, a problem with Stark and Bainbridge s definitions is that they argue that typologies do not adequately categorise religions because the boundaries are not clear cut, but then produce their own typology, which could be criticised for the same thing. For example, it is unclear how much involvement members have to have for an organisation to be regarded as a sect. Weber (1922), like Troeltsch, argues that sects tended to be amongst marginal groups in society, that is, people outside the mainstream of social life who felt they weren t gaining economic rewards from society they deserved. These sects developed a theodicy of disprivilege, which is a religious explanation and justification for their disadvantages, which often promised them salvation in the afterlife. Wilson (1970) also agrees with this explanation as he says that those in situations like defeat in war, natural disasters and economic collapses would lead to these people becoming marginalised and turning to new religions. In order to keep up with demand, the United States has been forced to rely on importing 80% of its crude oil. This niche was filled from the creation of OPEC who uses price gouges to create an economic boom in their country, through unifying and controlling the industry. This economic boom produced by OPEC amounts to an annual 730 billion (U.S.) dollars. In order to fully understand the magnitude of power this organization has, we can compare their annual income to every country s GDP. After doing this we notice that OPEC would be the 20th wealthiest nation trumping 167 countries in the process. This fact is mind boggling because when we talk about GDP we are talking about the value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country. When we talk about OPEC we are talking about a single product which is crude oil. This is worrisome for many reasons, first and foremost being that countries who are not members of the organization don t want one organization controlling and monopolizing such a valuable resource. The effects of monopolizing a single product is the power of setting a single price that everyone else needs to follow. This is why America and other non OPEC countries deal with gouging oil prices. The reasoning for OPEC doing this is clear from ridiculous profit margins to political influence. The power that OPEC holds was never more prevalent than in the 1973 embargo on the U.S. and European nations over the Arab Israeli War. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ellsworth Toohey lives by the following mantra: Tell man that he must live for others...Not a single one of them has ever achieved it and not a single one ever will. His every living impulse screams against it (page xx). Even Toohey himself acknowledges that such a way of life is impossible. He preaches false ideals and a false utopia. While numbers have played a role in journalism as well, journalists have constantly downplayed their importance in making up the professional skillset, which leads to a difficulty in presenting numerical data responsibly and accurately (Maier 2002). A noteworthy is the subfield of computer assisted reporting, which focuses on examining quantitative data through a journalistic lens. Over the past several years, this data driven form of journalismhas become more important within the profession as it has joined with the increasingly ever present digitization of personal and public information. As more information continues to become increasingly zeroes and ones at the most basic level, journalism has increasingly been involved in gathering, analyzing, and computing that information as well as quantitative data. This surge of quantitatively focused journalism has deep democratic roots with numerous forms tied to the public service tradition of investigative journalism (Cox 2000) and open government advocacy (Parasie and Dagiral 2012). It has great potential to increase journalism s ability to make democratic institutions more understandable and receptive to the public, but even within this subfield of journalism, views of the public and the journalistic process are different. • 29. The Greatest Single Cause Of The War Essay The greatest single cause of the war was the system of secret alliances which developed. How far do you agree with this interpretation on what caused World War One. The first world war between the triple entente and the triple alliance is said to be the first modern war. A previously unseen number of human lives were lost on both sides and because of this when the war ended it came to be known as the war to end all wars as said by the former president of the United States Woodrow Wilson. The interpretation above is correct but only to a certain extent, one must understand and fully asses all the factors of the war before making a judgement. There are two clear origins for the start of WW1, long term origins and short term origins. Both must be analysed and assessed properly in order to make a just statement in regard to the main cause of WW1. There are four generalised long term origins of the first world war, Nationalism, Imperialism, Militarism and the world war one alliances. However, it must be stated that the long term causes of the war are far more complex and must be dissected and analysed in depth before truly understanding the long term causes of the war. A short term analysis aims to explain why the war began when it did, how and why the European powers went to war and how the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg played a part in the start of the war. • 31. Functional Approaches To Iron Man 1. In relation to the functional approaches to persuasion, this advertisement utilizes symbolic functions of attitude. The slogan The sneaker makes the man, which implies masculinity and style, and the connection to Iron Man, a character who represents many men s dreams of style, money, and sex appeal, are both symbols that work to represent the shoe and the positive consequences the buyer would see after a purchase. They help to persuade the buyer of the manliness of the product, and the status that would come with owning it. This appeal to manliness also connects the advertisement to the ego defensive functions of attitude, and appeals to these men s need to defend their masculine self image. Though shoes are multi functional objects, the advertisers have chosen to appeal to high self monitors through this symbolic imagery. Though the specific monitoring of the audience is unknown, Nike shoes often appeal to those who are high self monitors, as buyers are willing to pay a high price to obtain the brand recognition and high status that accompanies the purchase of the Nike brand. The advertisers should choose to print this advertisement in media that focuses on a man s self image, such as a men s fashion magazine. The advertisement also connects to balance theory by using the celebrity endorsement of Iron Man. This form of persuasion works with buyers who have a positive liking relationship with Iron Man, and perceive that the character, or the company behind the character, has a positive liking relationship with the shoe. To keep their attitudes in balance, the buyer will then also have a positive liking relationship toward the shoe. Though it is an advertising context, the persuader has chosen not to offer any counter arguments or refutations, and has kept the message one sided. This could be because the Nike brand does not feel as if it needs to enhance its credibility with a two sided argument, as Nike is already a credible source on self image management through its long standing success of managing a brand that represents style, wealth, and high status. 2. The Spread of Soviet Backed Communism Across Eastern Europe after 1945 In seeking to provide an answer to the question, Was the spread of Soviet backed communism inevitable across Eastern Europe after 1945?, I would like to point to the words of a contemporary specialist. At the end of World War II, R. R. Betts, the Masaryk Professor of Central European History at London University, asserted that much of the revolution in central and eastern Europe is native and due to the efforts of the peoples and their own leaders . . . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet there are many such cases within the purview of this question. However, I do not completely disagree with the thesis of inevitability of Soviet backed communism or at least some form of authoritarianism. Thus, in the first section of this paper, I will air much of the support for that assertion and conclude that it was highly likely Soviet backed communism would eventually accomplish what it did. However, in a second section, I will argue that this outcome was hardly a fait accompli in 1945. Neither the subtleties of Eastern Europe s possible economic relations with the West in the form of the Marshall plan nor the lack of uniformity of the processes by which different states became Soviet satellites bear out the thesis of inevitability. The main strands of the argument for the inevitability of both authoritarianism and Soviet backed communism follow: The liberal democracies established in Eastern Europe after World War I were enfeebled by many factors, so much so that by the beginning of World War II, authoritarianism was already the norm. Thus, the post war step to further authoritarianism was not very large. The Wilsonian attempt at creating nations produced conditions hardly less destabilizing than those that had characterized the pre 1914 period, chiefly because of the sheer number of different ethnicities with the vehement desire . . . to secure revision of the post war settlement (Lewis 28, 30). Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and moral, and that becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are portrayed. Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the stereotypical nice attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break this demeanor. Even though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in the case, she maintains this even tempered friendly attitude. American culture can be very diverse on its own; it is the melting pot after all. There are many different cultures practiced in America, but one may not necessarily be exposed to all of them. This is very evident in my own situation, because I am from a very small town in southern Indiana. Being from a small town means that everyone knows everything, about everyone. That being said, we only have a few families in my home town who were not your typical white, Christian family. My perspective of American culture my not necessarily be the correct one, but that is my home town.
