Cloudstreet Play Analysis
Hello, my name is Poppy Connors and today I ll be discussing the issues identified in the play,
Cloudstreet.
Tim Winton s novel, Cloudstreet, was adapted into a stage production and performed in numerous
areas around Australia. It was a major success in 1998 and featured throughout Sydney and Perth
festivals. People around the whole of Australia went to see these productions.
The play focuses on two working families who share a house at Cloudstreet, in Perth, Western
Australia. The two families lived at Cloudstreet for twenty years, from 1943 to 1963.
The Lamb family is one of the families that feature in Cloudstreet, with the parents as Lester Lamb
and Oriel Lamb. There are six children in the Lamb family, Fish, Quick, Hattie, Red, Elaine

Simple Physical Violence In Literature
From simple physical violence to the more complicated mental violence, violence is in many pieces of
literature. To most people, violence may seem very simple to spot or to put into certain texts. In
reality, it s a little more complicated than what people seem to think. There are many types of violence
people use in literature today. The Crucible has a couple examples of violence. Hang them high over
the town! Who weeps for these, weeps for corruption, this quote is an example of how there is there is
emotional violence. Just by someone saying those words can start more violence as quickly as
physical violence can. Throughout the play many different acts of violence are displayed. To
summarize, People were accused of felonies that they

Essay about Sexual Frustration in Alfred Hitchcock s Rope
On May 21, 1924, two highly intelligent university scholars from Chicago, Richard Loeb and Nathan
Leopold, executed their highly calculated plan for the cold blooded murder of a distant relative of
Loeb #960;s, 14 year old Bobby Franks. As students of Nietzsche #960;s philosophy, Loeb and
Leopold had set out to commit the #8805;perfect murder #8804; in order to actualize the belief that
they were of an elite group, superior to the common man, to whom the standard moral code did not
apply. So infamous is the story of their murder and eventual detainment that it has become entrenched
in American popular culture, with numerous books and films aspiring to recreate it in vivid detail.
Amongst these, Alfred Hitchcock #960;s Rope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the real murder, on which the film is based, was carried out by bludgeoning the victim, which
suggests that the homosexuality of the men was of enough significance in Hitchcock #960;s mind to
warrant a more suggestive alternative. The flaccid structure of a rope is quite obviously an association
to the sexual impotence they experience as a consequence of society #960;s disapproval of what it
designates as #8805;perverse #8804; erotic expressions. When the boys #960; housekeeper returns
from her shopping, Phillip fears that she will discover what has transpired, and the young men
exchange particularly telling words which exemplify this idea even further:
P: I was sure she #960;d notice it.
B. Notice what?
P: The rope of course. Brandon, we #960;ve got to hide it.
ä
B: It #960;s only a piece of Rope, Phillip, an ordinary household article, why hide it? It belongs in the
kitchen drawer.
In other words, Phillip is unintentionally giving voice to society #960;s denunciation of homosexuality
and, consequently, to his fear of exposure and the shame it would bring upon him. In terms of this
discussion, however, the aspect of the film which carries the strongest Freudian implication is the very
fact that the rope, a phallic symbol of sexual frustration, is the actual weapon chosen to commit
murder, one of the most violent and explosive acts of aggression. One can

Deforestation Is Infrastructure Expansion ( Geist Lambin...
There are many causes/factors to deforestation, which are largely associated with direct human
influence. The first proximate cause to deforestation is infrastructure expansion (Geist Lambin, 2002,
p. 144). This refers to transportation (roads), private and public markets, rural and urban settlements,
and private and public services (water lines, oil exploitation, etc...) (Geist Lambin, 2002, p. 144). The
next cause is agricultural expansion, which includes, large or small scale cultivations, shifting
cultivations (slash and burn), and, of course, cattle ranching. Wood extractions for industrial and
domestic purposes are other proximate causes to this issue.
These issues may be exacerbated by mismanagement of central governments, heavy political and
economic pressures, widespread corruption, cronyism (appointing familiars to positions of authority),
and illegal logging operations (Speth Haas, 2006, p. 30). Corruption and illegal extracting activities
are especially problematic because they allow for further abuse and destruction to this environment.
International development agencies and corporations, such as the World Bank, must also be looked as
actors to this problem. They have contributed millions of dollars into dams, highways, power
development, and transmigration schemes (Speth Haas, 2006, 31). These organizations encourage
foreign investments to be taken place so as to expand extraction operations (Speth Haas, 2006, 31).

The Underground Man Essay
Notes from the Underground is a novel written by Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky. In this book,
Dostoyevsky illustrated his ideals through the words of his literary protagonist, the Underground Man.
The Underground Man strikes the readers as a person
, and one of the things that he abhors was the way in which progressive thinkers of his era worship
reason. This was amusing because at the same time, he does not entirely reject reason. From analyzing
the text, it is apparent that the Underground Man values reason, but he also sees it as incomplete and
an underestimation of the power of free will. The Underground Man s is not extreme, but quite
moderate, because he does see values in reason, and he constantly exhibit logical thinking ... Show

The Underground Man did not criticize reason as much as he criticized the use of reason by his
rationalist and utopian contemporaries. One of the things he criticized about them was their
glorification of reason, which was not uncommon at the time. The Underground Man said, but reason
is nothing but reason and satisfies only the rational side of man s nature, (Dostoyevsky, 19) This
absolute remark showed the Underground man s though on the limitations of the power of reason,
which the rationalists and utopians of his time ignored. Additionally, he said: I, for instance, quite
naturally want to live, in order to satisfy all my capacities for life, and not simply my capacity for
reasoning, that is, not simply one twentieth of
Qiao 3 my capacity for life (Dostoyevsky, 19) By using himself as an example, and describing reason
as only one twentieth of a person s capabilities of life, the Underground Man emphasized the small
role that reason plays.
Another thing that the Underground the little understanding of psychology at the time. In another
example, the Underground Man states: If, for instance, some day they calculate and prove to me that I

Whole Cell Protein Lab Report
Molecules found in nature (termed natural products ) are a rich source of compounds with biological
activities that are useful as drugs. Marine organisms are a particularly good source of natural products.
Imagine that you are a marine biologist searching for new natural products for use as anticancer drugs.
While diving at a coral reef near Tahiti, you notice an unusual sponge that you have never seen before.
You collect a sample, return to your lab and make a whole cell protein extract.
1. Come up with an experimental design to see if this sponge has anticancer properties.
Making a whole cell protein extract:
Living cells should be cultured on petri dishes and then incubated with a tracer in order for
downstream flux analysis. Once the metabolic processes have been quenched, the next step is to lyse
the cells, separating both the polar and non polar metabolites from the other cellular substances at the
same time. After these steps, the cells are shaken to completely lyse the membranes allowing for a
more efficient extraction of all possible biomolecules. After shaking, there should be a clear separation
between the polar and non polar phase for the metabolites, with a well defined interphase containing
proteins and nucleic acids. After centrifugation, the different phases are now separated, and each one
can be sampled for further analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

7 (Ziglar, Chronocentric: Beginner s Gudie to Major Watch Brands)Still based on our perceptual map,
we can see that Rolex has an average luxury level and degree of innovativeness. Rolex is a competitor
of Patek Philippe but Patek Philippe is not a competitor of Rolex. This is because Rolex has a strong
awareness and sometimes wealthy customers are more attracted to buying a Rolex because they don t
feel the need to buy watches as costly as Patek Philippe.
What is interesting in this market is that there are no clear leaders. Even though each company s goal
is to make the more profit as possible, we can t define any leader since they have different strategies
and objectives.8 [ (Tower) ] For example, Patek Philippe s core ideology is to have the most
prestigious brand and to make the most expensive watch as possible, and target the most prestigious
people which is a really niche market. In comparison, Rolex s purpose is to be a more accessible
luxury brand and make the most sales as possible. It is difficult to compare them in terms of success,
Rolex sells more but Patek has a much higher reputation.

NFLAnthem Protests
NFL anthem protests continue with raised fists, T shirt slogans
The movement of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem is a symbol of peaceful protesting.
It does not symbolize a rebellion, it instead serves as the way to get the point across that the people
will not stand for the social and racial injustice done to other citizens of this country. The action bears
no disrespect to veterans or any other patriot who has fought and/or died for the United States.
In the article NFL anthem protests continue with raised fists, T shirt slogans provided by CNN, the
author Eliott C. McLaughlin talks about how NFL players throughout the nation are coming together
and taking a stand by kneeling, to peacefully protest the National Anthem. ... Show more content on

As the American people gather around with their families on Sunday night to watch football, some are

they believe this action to be disrespectful. Others are met with pride and a sense of togetherness

Compare And Contrast In Cold Blood Movie And Book
In Cold Blood tells the nonfictional story of the Clutter family murder in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959.
The novel also follows the lives of the murderers Dick Hickock and Perry Smith afterwards. Truman
Capote, the author, closely follows the investigation after the murder, interviewing everyone from the
main detective on the case to the townsfolk. Many of skeptical of In Cold Blood s authenticity; many
believed some parts of the book were fabricated. There were details many believed Capote would have
never known. In comparison to the film Capote, there are many inconsistencies within Capote s story
and the novel he wrote. In the novel, Capote writes the story as if he was never there. He reports
strictly on lives of Dick and Perry after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The movie, which was thoroughly researched so it could be as accurate as possible, is inaccurate with
the book. For example, in the novel, Capote states that Perry Smith revealed the details of the murder
to Alvin Dewey and Duntz in a car on a highway in Arizona (pg. 232). In the film, however, Perry tells
Capote the details of the murder directly in Perry s cell. This inconsistency was most notable,
especially since Capote never once mentioned actually meeting Perry. However, in the movie, Capote
befriends Smith and visits him regularly. Another notable difference is the coverage of the murderers.
In the book, you learn a lot about the lives of the killers before the murder, starting in their childhood,
especially for Perry (pg. 131). However, in the movie, Capote asks very few questions about their
lives prior to the murders. Another obvious detail is the presence of Harper Lee; there was no mention
of her in the novel but according to the movie, she was prevalent from the very second that Capote
went to Holcomb. Though many of these details could be counter argued for being omitted due to
relevance, it s interesting to observe the differences in two stories about the same plot. More questions
come to rise because in the movie, Capote pays for

Summary Of Michelle Obama Speech
During his presidency, Barack Obama said that by the year 2020, America would have the highest
college graduation rate. In Michelle Obama s speech, Remarks by the First Lady at Education Event
with DC High School Sophomores, she speaks to students at Bell High school. These high school
sophomores come from many different social and economics backgrounds. Many of these students do
not live privileged lives and cannot afford higher education. Obama discusses the importance of
college education and how students should prepare for it during high school, even with limited
resources. She tells the students her own personal experiences as well as inspiring and calling them to
pursue a higher education. Michelle Obama s speech appeals to the student s hopes and dreams for the
future, exhorting them to set themselves up for success. The use of parallelism, a rhetorical device in
which the writer repeats the same sentence structure or part of speech, in Michelle Obama s speech
makes every student feel like they can relate to what Obama is saying as well as understand where
others come from. One example of parallelism is seen when Obama talks about student s possible
backgrounds. Maybe you ve had problems at home ... Maybe you ve come from a tough neighborhood
... Maybe one of your parents has lost a job and you ve had to struggle just to make it here today
(Obama). She repeats the sentence structure of maybe .... you ve ..., giving her speech a rhythmic flow

How Bill Has Breached The Duty
With this, the existence of a duty of care has been proven and is now time to see if it has been
breached. It is up to Arthur to show Bill has breached the duty . To do so he will need to prove a
reasonable man would have not acted in the same way. The test is objective in a sense that Bill s skill
would not be considered in favour of those of a man who is presumed to be free both from over
apprehension and from over confidence . Bill ignored a warning saying no HGVs should be crossing
the bridge, it can be argued that no reasonable person would do this.
Moreover, seeing as Bill is a professional, the case of Maynard could be used to further support Arthur
s claim. In this case, it was held that it should also be shown no professional would agree with the
conduct of the defendant. In other words, would another policeman agree on letting an HGV pass in
such weather? The answer to this would arguably be no.
Having proven there is a duty of care and it has been breached, the next step would be to show the
breach was what caused damages. Causation has 2 main elements legal and factual. In order to
establish legal causation, one must use the but for test. In our case, the test would look something like,
But for Bill s negligence, would Arthur s accident have occurred. This test only questions the facts of
the case and is relatively straight forward. Thus, ignoring everything else, no, Arthur would not have
been in an accident if he had not been on the bridge, which Bill

Hurricane Intensity
In all of the models and predictions of future hurricane activity examined, the influence of rainpower
on hurricane intensity was never mentioned or considered. Although the ways in which rain might
affect future hurricane intensity are not well understood and there have been very few studies
conducted on the subject, it is a factor that should be considered in future models and forecasts for the
future of hurricane intensity because of its large influence on hurricane intensity. The effect of
rainpower is actually a negative feedback loop, as increased sea surface temperatures cause more
water vapour, which leads to more rain, and consequently lessens hurricane intensity. Sabuwala et al

Using Raw Data From Oil Fields
Problem Statement
We want to try and develop a material balance equation that tries to give an accurate estimate of the
original gas in place in a coalbed methane reservoir considering the absorbed gases, free gases, rock
compressibility and certain factors that have strong effect on the original gas in place.
Considering so many MBE equations that have been presented by different researchers, we are going
to be using raw data from oil fields to with researchers developed material balance equation to
calculate the OGIP in the reservoir and compare the results to various simulation results to see the
similarities and differences between them.
Methodology
We will be considering G.R king (1993) MBE and E. Firanda Material balance equations and doing
our calculations based on their developed equations. We would be comparing these results with the
result gotten from the finite difference simulator mentioned in king s paper so validate and see the
viability of applying this MBE s to actual reservoirs.
We used the parameters for a 6ft coalbed reservoir stated in kings (1993) and E. Firanda (2011) paper.

How to be a Great Supervisor Essay
The definition of what makes a perfect supervisor will of course vary in its definition and
interpretation from person to person. However there are four main points that most people will agree
upon that makes a supervisor a cut if you will above the rest. A supervisor should always strive to be
as ethical and moral in his decisions as possible. This will lead his subordinates to respect his
decisions more often even if they do not always agree with him. Another characteristic of a
respectable supervisor is his ability to perform even the most menial of tasks to help gain the respect
of his employees. A fundamental point of an excellent supervisor is to not be the boss of the
employees but to be the leader of the employees. The last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While we all have been taught this when we finally ascend to the level of supervisor something makes
us want to make the people under us feel the same way we did under our supervisor so we start to give
orders and command to our employees which reduces general morale in the company and leads to
people quitting or doing less and poorer quality work for the business. Instead of giving orders to the
employees a supervisor should work besides the employees to complete the job or project, instead of
blaming people for failures in the project instead to work with the people who are failing to meet
certain goals in the project, find out what is preventing them from meet the appointed goals, and to
rectify the issues. The final mission if you will for a supervisor is to show his employees that he cares
for them and wants them to succeed in the company. This is one of the quintessential but extremely
hazardous thing for a supervisor to do since he has to open up somewhat to his employees and to get
emotionally attached to them but at the same time has to be able to see what is best for the project as a
whole and be able to terminate someone he or she has grown fond of over the years or months they
have been working together. In summary the perfect supervisor in theory is possible but in reality is
never attainable. While some have come very close they always will lack somewhat in one of these
aspects. Either they will grow to attached to

Two of the most important financial statements for a business are the Profit and Loss Account, and the

The Profit and Loss Account shows the profit or loss of a business over a given period of time e.g. 3

Many businesses need to have working capital. Working capital is calculated by subtracting current

Working capital = Current assets Current liabilities
Note that the figure for net current assets appear almost in the centre of a balance sheet, and is a figure

Analysis of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S....
Literature is considered a mirror of the society. The pool of content in literary writing stems from the
environment in which the writer is placed. A writer will use this environment to advance his/her views
of the society and at the same time drive into the audience/readers important information that he/she
wishes to pass. Hunter S. Thompson has used his creativity in the novel Fear and Loathing in Las
Vegas written in the 1960s to reflect on American society with Las Vegas as the point of reference.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas describes the American society as hypocritical. This transcends from
the leaders to citizens. The Duke and Gonzo attend a conference on Narcotics and dangerous drugs.
The theme of the conference is slated as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the dream is a dying one which has not materialized because of the society s greed,
selfishness and corruption as depicted in Fear and Loathing in Vegas by Thomson. Drug business,
prostitution and gambling have replaced legal businesses in Las Vegas. Law forces have been tangled
up in this game as they watch this acts being committed for a few pennies from the dealers. The
picture of a crowd of Las Vegas residence in a casino at early hours of the morning gives more
dimensions to the American dream. Emerging from a casino having won seems to epitomize what the
society feels about the American dream
Consumerism has been embraced in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This is well brought out by the
two protagonists in the novel. The lifestyle of the Duke and his attorney on the journey to Las Vegas is
characterized by heavy spending on drugs, accommodation, transportation and gambling. The writer
says they had bought two bags of grass, seventy five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered
blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi colored uppers, downers,
screamers, laughers and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether
and two dozen amyls. This were hefty expenses which the writer goes ahead to acknowledge that they
did not actually need bur for the fun of it.

John Keats s Ode To A Nightingale And Romantic Expressivism
Christopher Bell

ENGL 204
Dr. Callis
John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and Romantic Expressivism John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale is
one of the most recognized and studied pieces of poetry from the 19th century, with the critic Allen
Tate even going on to say that this ode at least tries to say everything that a poet can say (Vendler).
Keats was an educated writer and knew very well what he was talking about and was able to do
amazing things with a simple string of words. Keats s piece is written in the time of Romantic
Expressivism and every word that he writes inside of Ode to a Nightingale accurately portrays the
themes and concepts of this time period briefness of our time on earth, mortality, a different and
sometimes confusing look at the world around us (whether through our own eyes or some force on
us), nature and all of its beauty, and the words that contain the strength to transport the reader to
another place or time. In order to understand Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and how it connects to
Romantic Expressivism, we first need to understand what Romantic Expressivism is and how it was
created. The last major poet to write in the 18th Century was Alexander Pope. He believed over was
built into the universe inside of the great chain of being. He believed there was a natural order
stretching down from God and the angels to the lowest form of life on earth. After him, writers, such
as Keats, came along to question this thought and

Amelia Earhart was an experienced pilot. she was the first female pilot to fly across the atlantic ocean.

Emirau Island, off Papua New Guinea, seems an unlikely place to find Earhart because it s far from
the spot where her last radio transmissions occurred. Still, a U.S. Navy crew member in World War II
told of being sent to the island and spotting a photo of Earhart tacked up in the hut of a local man. The
photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary and a young boy. The
sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from the hut against the owner s
wishes. The photo has never been found. Since Emirau Island had been a haven for Europeans
stranded after a shipwreck in 1940, it s likely the photo contained a lookalike and not the real Amelia
Earhart.

Norman Rockwell s Homecoming Marine
Homecoming Marine is a painting by Norman Rockwell, it was featured on the cover of The Saturday
Evening Post in October of 1945. The original is 46x42 , is an oil painting on canvas, and can be
found in the Norman Rockwell Museum collection. The painting shows a young soldier seated on a
box just to the left of center, in what appears to be a mechanics workshop, surrounded by six other
people. He is dressed in a green military uniform; his shirt has a lighter green tone compared to his
pants. His military hat is tall, circular and perched high on his head with a leather band around the
base of the hat where it meets the black brim. Affixed to the front of the hat appears to be a black
insignia. He wears six different color ribbons over his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

after the gets settled in. The man standing behind the marine is the owner of the garage, and he told
him when he returned from the war his job will be waiting for him. He probably told him that because
he is also the marine s father, as this was a family business. The marine s brother is seated on the work
bench and has been carrying the load of two people while his brother was away. The two boys in the
room are the brother s sons, and they have different interests in this uncle returning home. Everyone in
the room is listening intently to the marine, with the exception of the oldest boy. He is wearing the
sweater, standing next to his dad, and is listening, but his body language and clothing tell me he has no
interest in following in his footsteps. This young boy has dreams of going to college, getting out of
that town, and avoiding the military if at all possible. The other young boy in the painting is just the
opposite, he is engaged and hanging on every word spoken in the room. I would suspect their dad
would be supportive of either way the boys wanted to go, as he is proud of his brother but wouldn t
want to necessarily see his sons off to

Saurating Concentration Of Sodium Chloride And Sucrose
The purpose of this lab was to find and compare the saturating concentration of Sodium Chloride
(NaCl) and Sucrose. By making solutions of NaCl in water at different concentration, we found that
the saturating concentration NaCl is between 0.375g/ml and 0.500g/ml. Using the same method, we
found that the saturating concentration of sucrose is 0.750g/ml. Moreover, to further our
understanding of density, we created a discontinuous density gradient using different concentration of
sucrose solutions. When we placed the solutions in the test tube according to their relative density, we
found that the solution with highest concentration sinks at bottom and the solution with lowest
concentration stays on top. Therefore, we concluded that the higher the density of a solution is, the
lower it will sink in a mixture.
Introduction In this experiment, we make solutions and explore three types of solutions: saturated,
unsaturated, and supersaturated solutions. A solution is homogeneous mixture of one or more solutes
dissolved in a solvent. Many different kinds of solutions exist because solutes and solvents can be a
gas, a liquid or a solid. For example, Air is a solution consisting mostly of oxygen and nitrogen with
trace amounts of several other gases. Furthermore, saturated solutions contain the maximum amount
of solute that can be dissolved in a solvent at a specific temperature (Helmenstine). On the other hand,
unsaturated solutions can dissolve more solutions in the solvent

Racial Discrimination Is A Big Social Issue Today
Racial discrimination is a big social issue today, especially with the president elect, Donald Trump in
office. According to Timothy Mcgettigan in the article, Donald Trump and White Racism declares, the
2016 presidential election has become a national referendum on racism . Throughout his campaign, he
has made it clear, his disgust towards immigrants, Hispanic communities and minorities. Trump has
stereotyped hispanics by using food stamps, crime, unpaid taxes and living songerly. It has brought
people together in protest and discrimination. Racism takes on and blinds the history and roots that
occurred in the past. People of color deserve respect and should not face discriminatory treatment.

Physics Of A Dc Electric Eld
In a DC electric field, charged particles moves to an electrode that has anwith opposite polarity. In an
AC electric field, charged particles oscillate, and their amplitudes are determined by the amount of the
total particle charge. The oscillation amplitude of the charged particle is proportional to the amount of
the charge density (q) and the applied voltage (E), and is inversely proportional to the radius of the
particle (r), the medium viscosity (η), or the applied frequency (f) [28]. When E, η, r, and f are
constant values, the amplitude d of the particle is simply related to the charge density q . In this case,

Saddam s Response To The Iraq War
Saddam s decision to invade Kuwait was largely the result of the disappointing outcome of the Iran
Iraq war, combined with traditional Iraqi skepticism about Kuwait s legitimacy, resentment over stolen
Iraqi oil from the Rumaila field, and Kuwait s overproduction of oil. The invasion was widely
condemned as it blatantly violated international laws prohibiting the conquest of sovereign states and
because Iraq s presence in Kuwait posed a danger to the Gulf States. The act was seen as so egregious
that even Bin Laden condemned it and offered to defend Saudi Arabia against Saddam s Ba athism on
the condition that American troops would not be allowed in the Saudi officials rejected his offer. In

of interventions besides CBT including, psychoanalytic techniques, creative arts, play therapy, crisis
intervention, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, and pharmacotherapy; which raises the
question about what could be the most effective treatment for children with PTSD (Cohen, Mannarino

The issue about choosing the most appropriate intervention with a specific population such as

(2001) found that the majority of child psychiatrists prefer to use psychodynamic/psychoanalytic
therapy interventions and psychotropic medications with children presenting PTSD symptoms, while
non medical clinicians prefer to integrate other types of interventions such as play therapy. In regards
to the fact that physicians prefer to use medications and other well known interventions such as

are more resistant to the new treatment modalities including EMDR and others because these types of
interventions are less discussed in medical journals compared to nonmedical ones. On the other hand,
Cohen, et al. (2001) suggest that physicians do not use new methodologies of interventions because

Myelin Essay
Myelin is a fatty sheath that coats nerve cells. It consists of about 70% lipids. In the central nervous
system, it is made of oligodendrocytes. One oligodendrocyte can myelinate many axons. In the
peripheral nervous system, myelin is made of a Schwann cell. One Schwann cell can myelinate only
one axon. Oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells form myelin by wrapping around the axon.
The myelin sheath is a good insulator. It also creates low capacitance. This means that fewer ions are
needed to charge and discharge the membrane of the axon. Myelin also clusters ions channels between
myelin sheaths. These clusters are called nodes of Ranvier.
Myelin allows the action potential of myelinated axons to travel further than unmyelinated axons with
the same diameter. Because the myelin sheath is a good insulator, within myelinated segments of the
axon, there is a high resistance to ion flow in and out of the axon. As a result, there is little charge
leakage within the myelinated segments of the axon. This allows for the action potential to travel
longer distances. From an evolutionary perspective, this allowed for ... Show more content on

Within the myelinated segments of axon, charge flows passively and quickly from one node of
Ranvier to another. The time consuming process of propagating an action potential occurs at the ions
channels. Myelinated axons do not have ions channels spanning the entire axon. Instead, they are
clustered only at the nodes of Ranvier. So, the time consuming propagation of action potentials is
limited to small segments in the axon. This allows the action potential to move quickly. Therefore, a
myelinated axon can conduct a faster action potential than an unmelinated axon with the same
diameter. This allows for faster information integration and response in organisms with myelinated
axons (compared to organisms with unmyelinated axons of the same

Analysis Of Petruchio In Taming Of The Shrew
During the play Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare, Petruchio is a very intriguing character. One of
the more notable things he does in the play is tame Katerina. However while the play is called taming
of the shrew, I believe his intentions are to have a loving relationship with his spouse. However I don t
believe that was the case the whole time! Petruchio originally did not have feelings for Kate because
he claims during the beginning of the play that he travelled to Pertua to marry a woman with a rich
father. Whilst attempting to tame her he claims he is enjoying doing so, I believe that he is enjoying
because he is getting to spend time with her, while falling in love with her and not even realizing it.
After Petruchio has starved her and deprived her of sleep as well as other things, he makes a real
attempt to be nice to Katherine and I believe that s what really tamed her. Overall I believe Petruchio s
original intentions were to use Katherine and marry her for her wealth. But over time he began to fall
deeply in love with her. We see this by Petruchio putting a great amount of effort into his attempt at
taming Katherine. We see this during his thoughts and speech about marriage and happiness. And
lastly, we see this through his flirty and affectionate gesture towards Kate. Through these things I
believe that Petruchio as well as the audience learn a valuable lesson about love, you cannot force it.
Throughout the play, Petruchio seemed to put a lot of effort into

Forgery is the making of false written instrument or the material alteration of an existing genuine
written instrument. Forgery is only complete when the perpetrator makes or passes a false instrument.
Overall, the crime of forgery is the actual intent to defraud. The common law crime of forgery
included the act of uttering, which is the offering, passing, or attempted passing of a forged document
knowing that is forged. Receiving stolen property is another form of theft. This can be defined as
knowingly taking possession of, or control over, property that has been taken in an unlawful way.
There are four elements to the crime of receiving stolen property, which are receiving, stolen property,
the receiver knowing that it was stolen, and where the property was received. Another form of theft is
robbery. However, robbery is considered a violent personal crime by the Uniform Crime Reporting
program. Robbery is the unlawful taking of property that is in the immediate possession of another by
force or threat of force. However, robbery, can be considered another form of larceny. The crime of
robbery requires two elements, that the property be taken from a person or removed from the victim s
presence and that the taking occur through the use of force or fear. But certain situations may be
considered larceny. For example, if property was stolen from a dead person, the crime is no longer a
robbery but a form of

Sentences By Bonaventure
When one believes in God he naturally revealed to them through the goodness in his creation. By
looking at the surrounding world one can see God s fingerprints. In his work, Sentences, Bonaventure
modestly defines creation as as the loving outflow of a loving God whose infinite dynamic goodness
is shared in a limited dynamic way. Creation is God s other. God doesn t have to create since God is
infinitely bountiful and self communicative within Himself. Creation flows out of the infinite fountain
of divine self diffusive goodness because God is creative and loving. The Father freely desires to
create because God is love, and perfect love can never be self contained it must be shared.
Bonaventure indicates that the world exists by virtue of the free creative power of divine love.
Creation is a free act of divine goodness spilling forth from the infinite divine community of love.
Bonaventure uses the term emanation to describe the expression of creation from the loving
community of a triune God. Emanation used in the Christian sense means that creation flows out of
the infinite, transcendent one. Bonaventure metaphorically writes, Creation is like a river, which flows
from a spring, spreads throughout the land to purify and fructify it, and eventually flows back to its
point of origin. This image speaks to the intimate connection between creation and the triune God as
well as creation s cyclical nature. Bonaventure writes that creation can find its origin in a single

Raymond Carr Summit Events
Summit Event Essay The event that was held in Moody Coliseum, September 22, 2015, was
conducted by Raymond Carr, his sermon was over, Lost in Knowledge of Christ. He pulls from
Philippians 3:1 11, where Paul challenges us to lose our religion; and choose a relationship. Paul uses
two directives that lead to a right relationship with Christ. Raymond Carr first comments on how Paul
emphasizes the theme of joy. Carr tells us that Paul repeats this a couple of times. Paul emphasizes
that, whatever your circumstance, you should always rejoice in God s attributes and His provisions.
Paul continues by saying: To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for
you. Paul s frequent saying to rejoice during affliction, because if he continues to tell us this we can
work to rejoice and not forget it, or even cynical. Paul wants for the believer to stand strong in their
time of need, to be steady and secure in their faith as well. Carr hints at that the simple reason for
repetition is that: Words sink in over time. Truths need to be emphasized, impact, and retention. Carr
then goes to 3:2 6, where Paul explores the danger of religion and religious people. He warns about
the Judaizers, by saying, Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false
circumcision. Paul is warning the church to look over your shoulder because people in the church aren
t really what they say they are. Paul calls the Judaizers dogs. Dogs were not the cute

Characteristics Of Drunk Driving
Drunk Driving
Although situations differ and each person is unique, some common traits have been identified among
drunk drivers. In the study personality traits and mental health of severe drunk drivers in Sweden , 162
Swedish DUI offenders of all ages were studied to find links in psychological factors and
characteristics. There are a wide variety of characteristics common among DUI offenders which are

There is also a more specific personality type found, typically more antisocial, among repeat DUI
offenders. It is also common for offenders to use drinking as a coping mechanism, not necessarily for
social or enjoyment reasons, when they are antisocial in nature and have a father with a history of
alcoholism. Offenders who begin drinking at an earlier age for thrills and fun are more likely to be
antisocial later in their lives. The majority of the sample, 72%, came from what is considered more
normal circumstances. This group was older when they began drinking, came from families without a
history of alcoholism, were relatively well behaved as children, were not as physically and
emotionally affected by alcohol when compared with the rest of the study, and had the less emotional

woman and young girls do say and believe, especially about their own appearances. The media

there is no way to avoid it. The media acts as a transmitter of potentially dangerous, socially desirable

Great Palace In Constantinople Analysis
The second mosaic image from the Great Palace in Constantinople (500AD) is a very absorbing piece
that brings up many questions when you first look at it. Because Constantinople had a strong tie with
Chariot Racing, specifically at the Circus of Constantinople in the 6th century, it can be assumed that
this image has a connection to that. The first link is the two legs that look like horse hooves in the top
right area of the image, although you cannot tell for sure because the image is cut off. Another

The wheels the two males are pushing or moving in the image could very well be chariot wheels, and
it is also a possibility that the man on the right is wheeling out replacement wheels as the one on the
left is taking in the damaged ones, or perhaps the man on the right is wheeling out something to bring
back the charioteers body on. Although there is certainly more evidence for helpers on the track that
assisted in clearing up crashes, which this definitely could be an example of, I don t think that we
should discredit the fact that this could also be men assisting in a wheel change, similarly to what
happens in Formula One Racing, and the post could have very likely been a station that held each
racers replacement parts. This is the main struggle when interpreting images such as these with no real
inscriptions and pieces missing. One can never truly know what exactly an image is showing, and
there could be many variables as to what the artist was trying to

A Brief Note On The And The Affordable Care Act
Mike Mosko English 2 3 December 2014 Obamacare vs. The Affordable Care Act: The role of news
framing in health care reform. It has officially been over a year since the Affordable Care Act (ACA),
also known as Obamacare, took the nation by storm. Along with its inception came a deeming quality
as one of the most ambitious, as well as provocative, instances of health care reform the United States
had ever seen. The basic premise of the law is an attempt to ensure that affordable health care is made
available for all American public. This is accomplished by providing tax credits on health insurance
plans offered by the government, such as Medicaid, to those who remain at a certain Federal Poverty
Level and could previously not effort it. The idea is that these discounts would suddenly allow said
people to have a better chance at doing so. In addition, the law protects patients with preexisting
medical conditions or who suddenly fall ill, forbidding insurance companies from dropping them. It
also allows young adults to stay on their parent s plans until the age of 26 and lowers rates for seniors.
Those opposed to the law have retaliated, citing increased taxes, allocation of Federal and State
funding, mandatory health coverage and, new, unnecessary obligations that insurance companies must
follow. It is important to remember that ACA s background, as well as its general support, is
Democratic while, the majority of those who oppose it are Republican. The clashing views of

King Lear Blindness
Literary Analysis: King Lear The Blinding
In the play, King Lear, vision and blindness are repeated allegories that relate to the characters, Lear
and Gloucester. This exemplifies the theme of self knowledge and consciousness that occurs in the
play. These classic allegorical is inverted in King Lear, producing a situation in which those with well
working eyes cannot see what is happening around them, and those without sight are able to see
clearly. What do I mean? Well, Lear is completely blind to the character of his children, while
Gloucester blindness is literal. Blindness is echoed through Gloucester and Lear to explain Lear s
metaphorical blindness with Gloucester s literal loss of vision.
Lear is a powerful man who does not see how genuine his youngest daughter, Cordelia s love is, but
believes the deceitfulness of her sisters, Goneril and Regan. Kent, one of Lear s most loyal servants,
sees the two facedness of Cordelia s sisters and tries to make him look pass the show that Goneril and
Regan put on and see them for who they truly are, and Lear refuses. Lear commands to Kent get Out
of my sight! The play echoes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lear can see through a sympathetic lens, after having exchanged the pride for shame, revealing to us
that mental blindness can be more damaging than physical blindness. While Gloucester, who willingly
admits that [he] stumbled when [he] saw, is only able to see, though sightless, after he has suffered
(4.1.20). Only through the physical pain of losing his sight was Gloucester able to see the truth of his
sons. Unquestionably, the plots of Lear and Gloucester run similar courses. However, Shakespeare
employs Gloucester s plot to clarify Lear s plot. Through the physical blinding of Gloucester,
Shakespeare provides an equivalent, which contextualizes King Lear s theme of consciousness and
allows Lear s own metaphorical blindness to be fully

Nurture The Reason It Has The Most Influence On Humans
Nurture the reason it has the most influence on a humans up bringing Humans are programmed to
carry out physical, mental and emotional developments, but what has the most influence on a human
upbringing and what shapes humans behaviour? Is is nurture which is the environment that we are
raised/socialization and our culture. Nurture the positive encouragement, from a parent or caregiver
towards the physical, mental and behavioural development of a individual. Or is nature your
biological factor/genes that a human obtain from their mother and father. As we go through life we go
through different developmental stages from infancy, adolescence/teenager through to adulthood.
Humans depend on the nurturing from our caregivers, and social groups to help us achieve our
developmental stages successfully, and contributes to a human behaviour. This why i feel that
nurturing has the most influence on a humans upbringing. Humans depend on the nurturing from
parents/caregivers to teach them independence, confidence, to have good self esteem and positive
behaviour. Humans learn through experience by what we see, hear and are taught though our culture
and our environment. Not every human in the world are raised the same, this makes everyone develop
and behave in different ways.. Not one human is the same. Nurturing help influence humans and the
way they behave and act towards other. This contributes to how human behaviour is shaped. Erik
Erikson (1902 1994) believes that

European Exploration Essay
What is now called the European Exploration is a period in the sixteenth and seventeenth century
when explores went out to search for new land and trading routes. Factors such as economic, political,
and cultural were the causes of the exploration. Before exploration in Europe, they experienced the
Black Death. The Black Death was a bubonic plague cause by the spread of bacteria. The plague
killed up to 30 to 60 percent of Europe s population. After the Black Death Europe experienced a
renewal of population and economic activity. The demand for luxuries, most importantly Spices, from
the East came known. Spices were not only used as flavorings for food but they were also used in
anointing oil and as incense for religious rituals. Lastly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 718 to 1492 there was a battle between the Christian Kingdoms and the Muslim Moors for control
of the Iberian Peninsula. The Christian Reconquista brought passion and energy to Europe and
encouraged them to continue the Christian crusade. Oversees exploration was the main way to reach
the non Christian territories. In addition, eagerness for exploration was increased by a lack of
opportunity at home. Due to the Reconquista, many Spanish men of the upper classes found their
opportunities greatly limited. The men looked to the sea for advanced fortunes. None of these voyages
would be able to be taken place if not for the government, who funded all of them. The Spanish
monarchy was stronger than previously so it was in a place to be able to support foreign endeavors.
Monarchies had many motivations to expand one of them including, being able to profit from trade.
Also monarchies had the desire to please God, which would be fulfilled by exploring new lands and
converting them to Christianity. Finally, the competition between the monarchies and Protestant and
Catholic states was an important factor in the steady stream of expedition. The European age of
Exploration made a big impact to Europe, from gaining new land and becoming a part of a trade
network. To explain his motives, a Portuguese explorer once said to serve God and His Majesty, to
give light to those who were in darkness and to grow rich as all men desire to

Zampano (Anthony Quinn) is a Italian man who does a Strongman act as a street performer who goes
by the name Neanderthal Man. Giulietta Masina, who was Fellini s wife in real life; serves as
Zampano s side kick. Coming from a poor family, her mother sold her off to
Zampano and with no hesitation; she went along with the ordeal. Quinn was so hateful to her and
treated her like trash. Even though he was cruel to her, she remained loyal to him, made the best of the
situation, and eventually fell in love with him. She resembles Charlie Chaplin by the way that she
dresses, the makeup, and the way she walked with the oversized shoes. Tired of the abuse from
Zampano has been giving her, she eventually leaves him and goes to a town nearby where she is now
spellbound by the high wire act of The Fool played by Richard Basehart.
Eventually, Quinn finds her and forces her to come back to work with him where they started working
at a traveling circus. Below is one of the most notable quotes from the film:
The Fool
What a funny face! Are a woman, really? Or an artichoke?
The Fool
Maybe he loves you?
Gelsomina
Me?
The Fool
Why not? He is like dogs. A dog looks at you, wants to talk, and only barks.

To most people, violence may seem very simple to spot or to put into certain texts. In reality, it s a little more complicated than what people seem to think. There are many types of violence people use in literature today. The Crucible has a couple examples of violence. Hang them high over the town! Who weeps for these, weeps for corruption, this quote is an example of how there is there is emotional violence. • 4. Essay about Sexual Frustration in Alfred Hitchcock s Rope On May 21, 1924, two highly intelligent university scholars from Chicago, Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold, executed their highly calculated plan for the cold blooded murder of a distant relative of Loeb #960;s, 14 year old Bobby Franks. As students of Nietzsche #960;s philosophy, Loeb and Leopold had set out to commit the #8805;perfect murder #8804; in order to actualize the belief that they were of an elite group, superior to the common man, to whom the standard moral code did not apply. So infamous is the story of their murder and eventual detainment that it has become entrenched in American popular culture, with numerous books and films aspiring to recreate it in vivid detail. Amongst these, Alfred Hitchcock #960;s Rope ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the real murder, on which the film is based, was carried out by bludgeoning the victim, which suggests that the homosexuality of the men was of enough significance in Hitchcock #960;s mind to warrant a more suggestive alternative. The flaccid structure of a rope is quite obviously an association to the sexual impotence they experience as a consequence of society #960;s disapproval of what it designates as #8805;perverse #8804; erotic expressions. When the boys #960; housekeeper returns from her shopping, Phillip fears that she will discover what has transpired, and the young men exchange particularly telling words which exemplify this idea even further: P: I was sure she #960;d notice it. B. Notice what? P: The rope of course. Brandon, we #960;ve got to hide it. ä B: It #960;s only a piece of Rope, Phillip, an ordinary household article, why hide it? It belongs in the kitchen drawer. In other words, Phillip is unintentionally giving voice to society #960;s denunciation of homosexuality and, consequently, to his fear of exposure and the shame it would bring upon him. In terms of this discussion, however, the aspect of the film which carries the strongest Freudian implication is the very fact that the rope, a phallic symbol of sexual frustration, is the actual weapon chosen to commit murder, one of the most violent and explosive acts of aggression. • 5. Deforestation Is Infrastructure Expansion ( Geist Lambin... There are many causes/factors to deforestation, which are largely associated with direct human influence. The first proximate cause to deforestation is infrastructure expansion (Geist Lambin, 2002, p. 144). This refers to transportation (roads), private and public markets, rural and urban settlements, and private and public services (water lines, oil exploitation, etc...) (Geist Lambin, 2002, p. 144). The next cause is agricultural expansion, which includes, large or small scale cultivations, shifting cultivations (slash and burn), and, of course, cattle ranching. Wood extractions for industrial and domestic purposes are other proximate causes to this issue. These issues may be exacerbated by mismanagement of central governments, heavy political and economic pressures, widespread corruption, cronyism (appointing familiars to positions of authority), and illegal logging operations (Speth Haas, 2006, p. 30). Corruption and illegal extracting activities are especially problematic because they allow for further abuse and destruction to this environment. International development agencies and corporations, such as the World Bank, must also be looked as actors to this problem. They have contributed millions of dollars into dams, highways, power development, and transmigration schemes (Speth Haas, 2006, 31). These organizations encourage foreign investments to be taken place so as to expand extraction operations (Speth Haas, 2006, 31). The weakening of domestic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this book, Dostoyevsky illustrated his ideals through the words of his literary protagonist, the Underground Man. The Underground Man strikes the readers as a person , and one of the things that he abhors was the way in which progressive thinkers of his era worship reason. This was amusing because at the same time, he does not entirely reject reason. Additionally, he said: I, for instance, quite naturally want to live, in order to satisfy all my capacities for life, and not simply my capacity for reasoning, that is, not simply one twentieth of Qiao 3 my capacity for life (Dostoyevsky, 19) By using himself as an example, and describing reason as only one twentieth of a person s capabilities of life, the Underground Man emphasized the small role that reason plays. Making a whole cell protein extract: Living cells should be cultured on petri dishes and then incubated with a tracer in order for downstream flux analysis. Once the metabolic processes have been quenched, the next step is to lyse the cells, separating both the polar and non polar metabolites from the other cellular substances at the same time. After these steps, the cells are shaken to completely lyse the membranes allowing for a more efficient extraction of all possible biomolecules. After shaking, there should be a clear separation between the polar and non polar phase for the metabolites, with a well defined interphase containing proteins and nucleic acids. After centrifugation, the different phases are now separated, and each one can be sampled for further analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The movie, which was thoroughly researched so it could be as accurate as possible, is inaccurate with the book. For example, in the novel, Capote states that Perry Smith revealed the details of the murder to Alvin Dewey and Duntz in a car on a highway in Arizona (pg. 232). In the film, however, Perry tells Capote the details of the murder directly in Perry s cell. This inconsistency was most notable, especially since Capote never once mentioned actually meeting Perry. However, in the movie, Capote befriends Smith and visits him regularly. Another notable difference is the coverage of the murderers. In the book, you learn a lot about the lives of the killers before the murder, starting in their childhood, especially for Perry (pg. 131). However, in the movie, Capote asks very few questions about their lives prior to the murders. Another obvious detail is the presence of Harper Lee; there was no mention of her in the novel but according to the movie, she was prevalent from the very second that Capote went to Holcomb. These high school sophomores come from many different social and economics backgrounds. Many of these students do not live privileged lives and cannot afford higher education. The use of parallelism, a rhetorical device in which the writer repeats the same sentence structure or part of speech, in Michelle Obama s speech makes every student feel like they can relate to what Obama is saying as well as understand where others come from. One example of parallelism is seen when Obama talks about student s possible backgrounds. Maybe you ve had problems at home ... Maybe you ve come from a tough neighborhood ... • 13. How Bill Has Breached The Duty With this, the existence of a duty of care has been proven and is now time to see if it has been breached. It is up to Arthur to show Bill has breached the duty . To do so he will need to prove a reasonable man would have not acted in the same way. The test is objective in a sense that Bill s skill would not be considered in favour of those of a man who is presumed to be free both from over apprehension and from over confidence . Bill ignored a warning saying no HGVs should be crossing the bridge, it can be argued that no reasonable person would do this. Moreover, seeing as Bill is a professional, the case of Maynard could be used to further support Arthur s claim. In this case, it was held that it should also be shown no professional would agree with the conduct of the defendant. In other words, would another policeman agree on letting an HGV pass in such weather? The answer to this would arguably be no. Having proven there is a duty of care and it has been breached, the next step would be to show the breach was what caused damages. Causation has 2 main elements legal and factual. In order to establish legal causation, one must use the but for test. In our case, the test would look something like, But for Bill s negligence, would Arthur s accident have occurred. A supervisor should always strive to be as ethical and moral in his decisions as possible. This will lead his subordinates to respect his decisions more often even if they do not always agree with him. Another characteristic of a respectable supervisor is his ability to perform even the most menial of tasks to help gain the respect of his employees. While we all have been taught this when we finally ascend to the level of supervisor something makes us want to make the people under us feel the same way we did under our supervisor so we start to give orders and command to our employees which reduces general morale in the company and leads to people quitting or doing less and poorer quality work for the business. Instead of giving orders to the employees a supervisor should work besides the employees to complete the job or project, instead of blaming people for failures in the project instead to work with the people who are failing to meet certain goals in the project, find out what is preventing them from meet the appointed goals, and to rectify the issues. The final mission if you will for a supervisor is to show his employees that he cares for them and wants them to succeed in the company. This is one of the quintessential but extremely hazardous thing for a supervisor to do since he has to open up somewhat to his employees and to get emotionally attached to them but at the same time has to be able to see what is best for the project as a whole and be able to terminate someone he or she has grown fond of over the years or months they have been working together. John Keats s Ode To A Nightingale And Romantic Expressivism Christopher Bell September 24, 2017 ENGL 204 Dr. Callis John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and Romantic Expressivism John Keats s Ode to a Nightingale is one of the most recognized and studied pieces of poetry from the 19th century, with the critic Allen Tate even going on to say that this ode at least tries to say everything that a poet can say (Vendler). Keats was an educated writer and knew very well what he was talking about and was able to do amazing things with a simple string of words. Keats s piece is written in the time of Romantic Expressivism and every word that he writes inside of Ode to a Nightingale accurately portrays the themes and concepts of this time period briefness of our time on earth, mortality, a different and sometimes confusing look at the world around us (whether through our own eyes or some force on us), nature and all of its beauty, and the words that contain the strength to transport the reader to another place or time. In order to understand Keats s Ode to a Nightingale and how it connects to Romantic Expressivism, we first need to understand what Romantic Expressivism is and how it was created. The last major poet to write in the 18th Century was Alexander Pope. He believed over was built into the universe inside of the great chain of being. When Valjean reveals that he was the criminal wanted, stealing again because he was given no option, he was arrested and news articles create lies claiming he was an extremely dangerous man, a wretch, who is endowed with herculean strength, managed to escape, but, three or four days afterward, the police retook him,in Paris, just as he was getting into of the small vehicles, (141). The news conveyed Valjean as menace to society but in reality it was the other way around. Before Valjean s arrest, he became a great person for the town of Montreuil sur mer creating a kind community yet all that is overwritten with the lies fed up by the news. The photo showed Earhart standing with a Japanese military officer, a missionary and a young boy. The sailor alerted naval intelligence officers, who allegedly took the photo from the hut against the owner s wishes. The photo has never been found. The original is 46x42 , is an oil painting on canvas, and can be found in the Norman Rockwell Museum collection. The painting shows a young soldier seated on a box just to the left of center, in what appears to be a mechanics workshop, surrounded by six other people. This young boy has dreams of going to college, getting out of that town, and avoiding the military if at all possible. • 24. Saurating Concentration Of Sodium Chloride And Sucrose The purpose of this lab was to find and compare the saturating concentration of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) and Sucrose. By making solutions of NaCl in water at different concentration, we found that the saturating concentration NaCl is between 0.375g/ml and 0.500g/ml. Using the same method, we found that the saturating concentration of sucrose is 0.750g/ml. Moreover, to further our understanding of density, we created a discontinuous density gradient using different concentration of sucrose solutions. When we placed the solutions in the test tube according to their relative density, we found that the solution with highest concentration sinks at bottom and the solution with lowest concentration stays on top. Therefore, we concluded that the higher the density of a solution is, the lower it will sink in a mixture. Introduction In this experiment, we make solutions and explore three types of solutions: saturated, unsaturated, and supersaturated solutions. A solution is homogeneous mixture of one or more solutes dissolved in a solvent. Many different kinds of solutions exist because solutes and solvents can be a gas, a liquid or a solid. For example, Air is a solution consisting mostly of oxygen and nitrogen with trace amounts of several other gases. Furthermore, saturated solutions contain the maximum amount of solute that can be dissolved in a solvent at a specific temperature (Helmenstine). On the other hand, unsaturated solutions can dissolve more solutions in the solvent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an AC electric field, charged particles oscillate, and their amplitudes are determined by the amount of the total particle charge. The oscillation amplitude of the charged particle is proportional to the amount of the charge density (q) and the applied voltage (E), and is inversely proportional to the radius of the particle (r), the medium viscosity (η), or the applied frequency (f) [28]. • 31. Myelin Essay Myelin is a fatty sheath that coats nerve cells. It consists of about 70% lipids. In the central nervous system, it is made of oligodendrocytes. One oligodendrocyte can myelinate many axons. In the peripheral nervous system, myelin is made of a Schwann cell. One Schwann cell can myelinate only one axon. Oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells form myelin by wrapping around the axon. The myelin sheath is a good insulator. It also creates low capacitance. This means that fewer ions are needed to charge and discharge the membrane of the axon. Myelin also clusters ions channels between myelin sheaths. These clusters are called nodes of Ranvier. Myelin allows the action potential of myelinated axons to travel further than unmyelinated axons with the same diameter. Because the myelin sheath is a good insulator, within myelinated segments of the axon, there is a high resistance to ion flow in and out of the axon. As a result, there is little charge leakage within the myelinated segments of the axon. This allows for the action potential to travel longer distances. • 33. Analysis Of Petruchio In Taming Of The Shrew During the play Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare, Petruchio is a very intriguing character. One of the more notable things he does in the play is tame Katerina. However while the play is called taming of the shrew, I believe his intentions are to have a loving relationship with his spouse. However I don t believe that was the case the whole time! Petruchio originally did not have feelings for Kate because he claims during the beginning of the play that he travelled to Pertua to marry a woman with a rich father. Whilst attempting to tame her he claims he is enjoying doing so, I believe that he is enjoying because he is getting to spend time with her, while falling in love with her and not even realizing it. After Petruchio has starved her and deprived her of sleep as well as other things, he makes a real attempt to be nice to Katherine and I believe that s what really tamed her. Overall I believe Petruchio s original intentions were to use Katherine and marry her for her wealth. But over time he began to fall deeply in love with her. We see this by Petruchio putting a great amount of effort into his attempt at taming Katherine. We see this during his thoughts and speech about marriage and happiness. And lastly, we see this through his flirty and affectionate gesture towards Kate. Through these things I believe that Petruchio as well as the audience learn a valuable lesson about love, you cannot force it. Throughout the play, Petruchio seemed to put a lot of effort into ... In his work, Sentences, Bonaventure modestly defines creation as as the loving outflow of a loving God whose infinite dynamic goodness is shared in a limited dynamic way. Creation is God s other. God doesn t have to create since God is infinitely bountiful and self communicative within Himself. Creation flows out of the infinite fountain of divine self diffusive goodness because God is creative and loving. The Father freely desires to create because God is love, and perfect love can never be self contained it must be shared. Bonaventure indicates that the world exists by virtue of the free creative power of divine love. Creation is a free act of divine goodness spilling forth from the infinite divine community of love. Bonaventure uses the term emanation to describe the expression of creation from the loving community of a triune God. Emanation used in the Christian sense means that creation flows out of the infinite, transcendent one. Bonaventure metaphorically writes, Creation is like a river, which flows from a spring, spreads throughout the land to purify and fructify it, and eventually flows back to its point of origin. He pulls from Philippians 3:1 11, where Paul challenges us to lose our religion; and choose a relationship. Paul uses two directives that lead to a right relationship with Christ. Raymond Carr first comments on how Paul emphasizes the theme of joy. Carr tells us that Paul repeats this a couple of times. Paul emphasizes that, whatever your circumstance, you should always rejoice in God s attributes and His provisions. Paul continues by saying: To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you. Paul s frequent saying to rejoice during affliction, because if he continues to tell us this we can work to rejoice and not forget it, or even cynical. Paul wants for the believer to stand strong in their time of need, to be steady and secure in their faith as well. Carr hints at that the simple reason for repetition is that: Words sink in over time. Truths need to be emphasized, impact, and retention. Carr then goes to 3:2 6, where Paul explores the danger of religion and religious people. He warns about the Judaizers, by saying, Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision. Paul is warning the church to look over your shoulder because people in the church aren t really what they say they are. Paul calls the Judaizers dogs. Dogs were not the cute ... Great Palace In Constantinople Analysis The second mosaic image from the Great Palace in Constantinople (500AD) is a very absorbing piece that brings up many questions when you first look at it. Because Constantinople had a strong tie with Chariot Racing, specifically at the Circus of Constantinople in the 6th century, it can be assumed that this image has a connection to that. The first link is the two legs that look like horse hooves in the top right area of the image, although you cannot tell for sure because the image is cut off. Another association is the palm branches off to the right, which were a staple in Chariot races as one of the prizes the victors would be able to hold and wear. The fact that there is a lot of empty space in the middle signifies that this place had an area which the horses would be able to run the races. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wheels the two males are pushing or moving in the image could very well be chariot wheels, and it is also a possibility that the man on the right is wheeling out replacement wheels as the one on the left is taking in the damaged ones, or perhaps the man on the right is wheeling out something to bring back the charioteers body on. Although there is certainly more evidence for helpers on the track that assisted in clearing up crashes, which this definitely could be an example of, I don t think that we should discredit the fact that this could also be men assisting in a wheel change, similarly to what happens in Formula One Racing, and the post could have very likely been a station that held each racers replacement parts. This is the main struggle when interpreting images such as these with no real inscriptions and pieces missing. One can never truly know what exactly an image is showing, and there could be many variables as to what the artist was trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has officially been over a year since the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, took the nation by storm. Along with its inception came a deeming quality as one of the most ambitious, as well as provocative, instances of health care reform the United States had ever seen. The basic premise of the law is an attempt to ensure that affordable health care is made available for all American public. This is accomplished by providing tax credits on health insurance plans offered by the government, such as Medicaid, to those who remain at a certain Federal Poverty Level and could previously not effort it. The idea is that these discounts would suddenly allow said people to have a better chance at doing so. In addition, the law protects patients with preexisting medical conditions or who suddenly fall ill, forbidding insurance companies from dropping them. It also allows young adults to stay on their parent s plans until the age of 26 and lowers rates for seniors. Those opposed to the law have retaliated, citing increased taxes, allocation of Federal and State funding, mandatory health coverage and, new, unnecessary obligations that insurance companies must follow. It is important to remember that ACA s background, as well as its general support, is Democratic while, the majority of those who oppose it are Republican. The clashing views of ... This exemplifies the theme of self knowledge and consciousness that occurs in the play. These classic allegorical is inverted in King Lear, producing a situation in which those with well working eyes cannot see what is happening around them, and those without sight are able to see clearly. What do I mean? Well, Lear is completely blind to the character of his children, while Gloucester blindness is literal. Blindness is echoed through Gloucester and Lear to explain Lear s metaphorical blindness with Gloucester s literal loss of vision. Lear is a powerful man who does not see how genuine his youngest daughter, Cordelia s love is, but believes the deceitfulness of her sisters, Goneril and Regan. Kent, one of Lear s most loyal servants, sees the two facedness of Cordelia s sisters and tries to make him look pass the show that Goneril and Regan put on and see them for who they truly are, and Lear refuses. Lear can see through a sympathetic lens, after having exchanged the pride for shame, revealing to us that mental blindness can be more damaging than physical blindness. While Gloucester, who willingly admits that [he] stumbled when [he] saw, is only able to see, though sightless, after he has suffered (4.1.20). Only through the physical pain of losing his sight was Gloucester able to see the truth of his sons. Unquestionably, the plots of Lear and Gloucester run similar courses. However, Shakespeare employs Gloucester s plot to clarify Lear s plot. Through the physical blinding of Gloucester, Shakespeare provides an equivalent, which contextualizes King Lear s theme of consciousness and allows Lear s own metaphorical blindness to be fully ...
