Hispanic National Internship Program Essay
I completed the Hispanic National Internship Program at the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), for the Summer 2017 Session. My duties were
as follows:
Clarify this section: Vulnerable Populations Project: I assisted Vulnerable Populations (Mental
Health Wellness, LGBT Youth, Youth with Special Needs, Underrepresented Youth, Homeless
Youth, Youth in Foster Care, Disconnected Youth, Immigrant Youth, and Incarcerated Youth):
Champions postings for the NIFA website and completed introductory documents for each
designated population. Children, Youth, and Families at Risk (CYFAR) Project:

Specifically, I was able to apply many of the concepts and skills that were discussed within the
MIDCM coursework in a professional setting, such as language aid, guided research, community
development, proposal/grant support, youth engagement activities and education initiatives. My two
primary projects throughout the summer internship were the Vulnerable Populations Project and
the CYFAR Grant Program. The Vulnerable Populations Project focuses on the nine groups of
youth listed above. I was tasked with researching information on each group, finding federal laws
related to each specific group, and condensing the information to be posted online to the public. In
addition to performing guided research, I contacted the leaders of each Vulnerable Populations
Group to request further visuals or material that could be used on the (name of website) website. I
also worked on the CYFAR Grant Program, which provided me with a practical overview of the
federal grants process, especially development projects centered on youth. I read the project
descriptions from (what group around the country?)around the country and reviewed the reported
accomplishments, demographics, and funds for each project. Ultimately, I was tasked with the
decision whether to approve the project or request clarification from the project directors, if the data
submission was deficient.

Keeping the Family Together in A Raisin In The Sun
What a loving mother! Lena Younger, or Mama, is nurturing and supportive when it comes to
raising and maintaining a family. Personally speaking, being nurturing means to love, care for, and
show concern over someone. Analyzing Mama s relationships with family members can show us
her view on parenting and ultimately show us her devotion to her family. In A Raisin in the Sun,
by Lorraine Hansberry, Mama is a nurturing mother who cares for and protects her family in her
struggle to keep them unified.
Not only does Lena Younger protect Travis from getting yelled at by his mother, but also she
protects his feelings. At this point in the play Mama s nurturing attitude is seen ... Show more

Mama looks at Travis and says that she ...went out and ... bought you a house! ... It s going to be
yours when you get to be a man (1417). This gift to Travis serves two purposes. Not only does it
provide him with a stepping stone for starting his own family but also it is a tie that will bind the
Youngers closer together. Mama knows that money and living space is a difficulty for her family.
Mama s gift to her grandson shows how she is trying to help her family move on and move up in
life.
Mama s relationship with Beneatha expresses a sense of nurturing shown in life lessons. A very
subtle display of gentleness towards her daughter is in reference to relationships. When Mama
inquires about a young African American man her daughter has an interest in, Beneatha tells her
mother that he is a fool. Mama s response is merely Well I guess you better not waste your time
with no fools (1420). Mama s lack of questioning or second guessing her daughter and her
understanding and respecting her view are well received by Beneatha. This sense of nurturing brings
them closer together and leaves both mother and daughter happy.
Family values are the context of Mama s second nurturing lesson to Beneatha. After a conflictive
encounter with her brother, Beneatha expresses a lack of respect and love for Walter. Lena
Younger first quickly ensures that she correctly heard her daughter. Although Mama does not come
across as gentle as she has in the past, her

Essay On International Market Segmentation
Mission of an international researcher is sorely wide and it is important to determine the most
productive and influential tasks. Marketing research exercise involves systematic enquiry. Thus, it
requires a careful planning of the orderly investigation process. Global market segmentation is the
process of identifying specific segments, whether they be country groups or individual customer
groups, of potential customers with homogeneous attributes who are likely to exhibit similar
behaviour (Hassan Katsanis, 1991).
In case of international marketing DODCAR is one of the main frameworks that is utilized for
evaluating suitability of the market segmentation. International market researcher needs to consider

buying behavior in choosing products are highly influenced by western cultural perception. China s
top economic policymakers set domestic consumption as a main driver for the country s economic

2.2 Objectives of research
After defining and identifying the issue, the researcher must take a formal statement of research
objectives. Such objectives may be stated in qualitative or quantitative terms and expressed as
research questions, statement or hypothesis.
Market segmentation pertains to the division of a set of consumers into persons with similar
needs and wants. Market segmentation allows for a better allocation of a Starbucks finite

the benefit of servicing a multiplicity of new markets. It is necessary to create SMART objectives
while segmenting Starbucks in international markets. The important objective of segmenting
Starbucks in China is to increase sales for 30% in 2 years. The target city is Shanghai as the

Masculism In Things Fall Apart, By Chinua Achebe
According to Merriam Webster, the definition of masculism is an advocate of male superiority or
dominance in social rights. Masculism is one of the main theme shown throughout the book,
Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe. In the novel, women seem that they do not have any equal
rights as men. Also, they have little power in their society and are often mistreat by men.
However, women play key roles throughout the novel diversely. Through the main character,
Okonkwo, women s role are well described in the novel. Women represent a symbol of wealth and
education, and in the other hand, they represent both weak and strong. Okonkwo, the main
character in the novel, is respected among the Igbo society by defeating Amalizine, the Cat, who

As a religion, women play a key role. One of the example is when Chielo, the priest, visits
Okonkwo s house. The book it says, Okonkwo pleaded with her to come back in the morning

shouting that Agbala wanted to see his daughter . . . The priestess screamed. Beware, Okonkwo!
she warned (101). It describes how Okonkwo pleaded with the Chielo s visit and she warned and
threatened Okonkwo. The other example is when Okonkwo s second wife Ekwefi, had many
cursed babies who always die in a short time after their birth(77). It might have been a big shock
for her since these situations were considered as evil and wicked. However, as a mother, she
overcame her difficulty and built a deeper relationship with her daughter Ezinma (81). Also as

Edmond Rostand s Cyrano De Bergerac
Dramatist, Edmond Rostand, in his play, Cyrano de Bergerac, illustrates the central character s
ceaseless honor conflicting with doubts within himself. Rostand s purpose is to show that
morality and principles are strived for until the end, emphasized with the inclusion of the white
scarf. Rostand adopts a comical yet tragic tone in order to describe the situations where honor is
seen at high value, but has the potential to accrue danger. The white scarf lays emphasis on the
differences between De Guiche and Cyrano s character. For example, when De Guiche comes
back to the cadets without his white plume, Cyrano responds, Possibly... An officer does not

Many investigations and research have been done in an effort to discover and defend against
terrorism. Through my research I have discovered a plethora of literature that confirms this notion.
This review will focus primarily on two different aspects that work coherently to frame the big
picture of our nation s Achilles heel, better known as the southwestern border. These two aspects
are: Muslim extremist targeted recruits and how the United Stateseconomy is intertwined. The
selection of literature that I have compiled is contextually different, because they are used for
various other reasons. My purpose here is to extrapolate pertinent findings and utilize them to

As a nation it is essential that we use what we gather and combine with what we have already
learned from history to grow.
You may wonder, How can Middle Eastern terrorist organizations use the ease of access of the
southwestern U.S. border to launch a major, successful attack? Before considering Al Qaeda s
operational tactics, it is equally important to take a look at recruiting methods and targets. I will
analyze Targeting the Poor: How Al Qaeda Would Recruit from Latin America by Freddy Paniagua.
The U.S. Department of State and experts on terrorism have suggested that the poor are a potential
source of recruits for political and Islamic fundamentalist terrorist organizations (Paniagua 2006,
1). In this publication, Paniagua uses Bayat s classification to explain the dynamics of the poor
of Latin America. Paniagua shows how Bayat argues that the passive poor will typically be
content with their way of life and continue to struggle to survive. The political poor utilize the
political process to their perceived advantage by voting for the party they fell is able to alleviate
the burdens of poverty. Regarding the resisting poor, they typically strive for the opposition of the
political and social system. The resisting poor may even resort to radical behavior to remove the
current powers. The current situation in Syria is a great example of the resisting poor. Lastly, the
surviving poor who resort to

Andy Warhol 32 Soup Cans Analysis
Andy Warhol s thirty two canvases titled 32 Soup Cans was created in 1962. This renowned
American Pop Artist, known for his repeating reproductions and gaudy colors, produced this piece
using the printmaking method. Warhol didn t want his paintings of mass produced commercial
goods to be conceptually stimulating. He wanted to make his work relatable so that viewers could
approach them and have a clear interpretation. Warhol replicated the appearance of manufactured
objects and famous icons for the sake of expressing his view on modern culture in a manner that
had nothing to do with personality or individual expression. According to Eric Shanes in his book
titled Warhol, Warhol s 32 Soup Cans were initially displayed in a single line around the gallery
walls. The original display maximized the repetitiousness of the imagery. The display was so
spatially extended, and ultimately projected the fearsome notion that the whole universe was filled
with Campbell s soup. Shane points out that Warhol developed the notion of taking an image
familiar to millions and presenting it frontally, without painterly qualities, and with a flat surround
(as though it was some kind of holy icon) (Shanes, 52). Shanes points out that Warhol formed an
alliance between abstract expressionist paint handling and popular cultural imagery. Shanes also
notes that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Carl Sandburg, A Zealot for Chicago
Carl Sandburg was a three time Pulitzer prize winning poet, writer, and editor. As he was growing
up, Sandburg s family struggled with poverty, which engendered him to drop out of school early
in his teens to help contribute to his financially strained family. Sandburg was convinced by a man
that served with him during the Spanish American war, that he should attend Lombard College;
Sandburg took his advice and completed four years at Lombard. After getting his education he
moved to Chicago and obtained a job from Chicago Daily News, as an editorial writer. Sandburg s
works emulated his literary influence, Walt Whitman; both poets wrote in free verse. In 1914,
Sandburg published his poem Chicago then two years later, integrated the poem along with various
other poems relating to the city, and titled it Chicago Poems.
In the poem Chicago, Sandburg commences his poem by naming various titles such as Hog

accomplishments. Admitting, acknowledging, and embracing one s faults can lead to future

The Moral Dilemma Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Moral Dilemma Of The Louisiana Purchase
President Thomas Jefferson faced many moral dilemmas during the process of deciding to
purchase the territory, the moral predicaments that president Thomas Jefferson faced was going
against the constitution, going in major debt to pay for the territory, and also faced many issues
with foreign policy almost exclusively between the countries Spain and France. President
Jefferson was put in a situation that no other leader of our young country had ever been in, and he
stressed about breaking his own moral code to make the correct decision for his nation. President
Jefferson s major personal moral dilemma was actually purchasing the territory of louisiana from
the french. Jefferson was a strong Democratic Republican. This party was founded by Thomas
Jefferson and James Madison, This party was created in opposition of the federalist party which
was led by Alexander Hamilton. The Democratic Republican party believed that a strong central
national government would deplete and completely rid the rights of states. The party strongly
disapproved of the national Bank Of The United States stating that the bank was taking away
power that belonged to the states. Among many of the views of the Democratic Republican the
strongest belief was to strictly abided by the constitution, so when the opportunity arose to purchase
the French owned territory, the constitution did not state whether the government could or could

The Effect Of Cooling Capacity At Different Air Velocity...
5. Results and discussion
5.1 Cooling tower data
Figure 5.1 shows the plot of cooling capacity at different air velocity for a constant water flow
rate. Fig. 5.1: Cooling capacity at different air velocity for a constant water flow rate
From the graph, it is clear that the cooling capacity increases with increase in the air velocity. Also,
at higher water flow rate the cooling capacity is higher. This trend can be attributed to the fact that
at higher flow conditions, the convective heat transfer flux is higher resulting in a higher heat
transfer rate. The mass transfer is higher as the humid air is removed from the column at a much
faster rate owing to the high flow rates; this helps in stripping of water from the liquid phase.
Higher mass transfer would result in more energy being gained by air in the form on latent heat.
The curve for lowest water flow rate (28.9L/hr) shows the largest slope between the 2nd and 3rd
data points. This can be explained by the fact that the slow water flow rate results in a high
residence time in the column that provides air sufficient time to strip.
Figure 5.2 shows the plot of cooling coefficient at different air velocity for a constant water flow
rate. Fig. 5.2: Cooling coefficient at different air velocity for a constant water flow rate
From the graph, it is clear that the cooling coefficient increases with increase in the air velocity. The
reason behind this phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that at higher air velocity,

Moonlight Sonata Analysis
The Piano Sonata No.14 in C sharp minor (Moonlight Sonata); Op.27, No.2, was composed by
Ludwig Van Beethoven in 1801. The name Moonlight Sonata was not coined by Beethoven
himself, but instead by the German music critic, Ludwig Rellstab in 1836. Rellstab wrote that the
sonata had reminded him of the reflected moonlight off of Lake Lucerne, hence the Moonlight
Sonata became the unofficial, moreover a permanent title of the piece (The History of the
Moonlight Sonata, 2012). Regarding the reasoning of which Beethoven composed the piece there
are two reasonings that have circulated. Due to the Beethoven experiencing a loss in hearing, it
has been interpreted that the piece itself is a means of him accepting his impending deafness (The
History of the Moonlight Sonata). This can be heard through the slow fluctuation in the treble
while there is a sense of weariness in the bass, which one can argue imparts the sense of
acceptance Beethoven may have about becoming less and less able to hear his music. Therefore,
another possible reason for Beethoven to write the piece is that he had written it out of love for his
17 year old pupil, Countess Giulietta Guicciardi (Giulietta Guicciardi (1784 1856), Beethoven and
Moonlight Sonata, 2013). Regarding the piece itself, Moonlight Sonata is divided into three
movements. The tempo starts out adagio sostenuto for the first movement, picking up the tempo in
the second movement as allegretto, and speeding up further in the third

The novel contains both the frame narrator, an anonymous member of the Nellie , representing the

Darkness is used throughout the novel to symbolize savagery, death and the unknown. Marlow s
observation is reinforced when London is described as a brooding gloom . In thisinstance the
physical description of the city serves to reinforce Marlow s theory, and refute the earlier judgments
of the frame narrator.
Marlow tells of his quest for employment, that is, an unnamed city in Brussels, the sepulchral city
that he visits to sign his contract. Conrad uses much death imagery to describe the physical
appearance of the city. He describes it: as having the appearance of a well kept alley in a
cemetery . Marlow travels to the dead centre of the city. He observes grass sprouting between the
stones just as grass sprouts between tombstones. This environmental imagery is symbolic of the
hypocrisy that Marlow Witnesses, the exploitation that forms the basis of the company and the
universality of death. All three interpretations of the applicability of the imagery are reasonable
however, the death imagery also links to Marlow s apprehension. Marlow says that he felt as if he
had been let into some conspiracy . The death imagery associated with this, the first leg of
Marlows journey on his way to his farthest point of navigation and culminating point of (his)
experience is appropriate as it relates strongly to

Strategic Csr Database For Public Companies Essay
4.1 Sample Our data includes public companies that have passed the IPO stage because KLD
MSCI data is only available for public companies. In order to control for a potential bias in our
analyses due to the choice of receiving venture backing among IPO companies, we gather a
comprehensive data on an initial sample of 12,010 IPOs from the period 1991 2015 from the
Securities Data Company (SDC) database. Following previous researchers, we eliminate
offerings (i) identified as unit offerings (ii) not involving common stock, (iii) of very small
issues with offer size below 5 million dollars in order to eliminate penny stocks from our sample
(Bradley, Cooney, Dolvin, and Jordan, 2005), and (v) for which SDC did not provide
information required for our tests. We then match the IPO database with the CSR database. We
gather CSR data from MSCI KLD 400 Social Index Database. This data set is the most
comprehensive CSR database and is widely used in the literature (Agle et al., 1999; Chen et al.,
2007; Griffin and Mahon, 1997; Hillman and Keim, 2001; Rehbein et al., 2004; Waddock and
Graves, 1997). The MSCI KLD database provides social performance records for more than 3,000
publicly traded US companies across a range of dimensions covering business related social
performance parameters including corporate governance, environment, product quality, and
employment practices (Chen et al., 2007). The MSCI database assigns strengths and concerns to
each of these dimensions. Detailed

Thor as Portrayed in the Kenneth Branagh Movie
In this paper, I will talk about Thor as portrayed in the movie directed by Kenneth Branagh as he
may be depicted differently in other sources. Thor is the god of thunder and son of Odin, ruler of
Asgard in Norse mythology. A powerful God that was next in line for the throne of Asgard. Thor
had the power of thunder and was able to control its power with his hammer, which also allows him
to fly. Comparing Thorto Jesus, both are powerful beings. Asgard and Heaven are very similar as
it is where the Gods/God live. With great power both Thor and Jesus conquered things in their
own way. Jesus conquered sin, not by using his fists to fight Satan, but instead he was crucified
to stop Satan controls over the people. Where in Soteriology 1 payment for sin. Jesus conquered
sin by offering his body, the body of god, to repent for the people of the world s sin. Unlike
Jesus, Thor s course of action is not non violence. He comes from Asgard, a world where war was
heavily prevalent, which was the reason Thor was banished to earth. He conquered his enemies
through his hands. Though both are godly and had similar intentions Thor s course of action for his
mission was different from Jesus according to course text.
Thor is a savior figure because he saves humanity from God s themselves specifically his brother
Loki, who betrayed his family while he was banished by their father Odin. In this film Thor is your
typical hero who is powerful and strong. In the beginning Thor thought he

Where The Wild Things Are
For my final project, I chose to find music that accompanied the text in Where the Wild Things Are.
I believe that the music I chose not only accompanies the text, but also provides support for the
visual characteristics of landscape science shown throughout the illustrations on the pages of this
book. Therefore, for my final project I will be examining how the forestlandscape works in
conjunction with three aspects of this book: the text of Where the Wild Things Are, the illustration
of Where the Wild Things Are, and the musicfound in Under the Stars from the Lion King.
First of all, after my presentation, I will review the forest landscape aspects of this book from my
earlier in class media presentation. For example, I will point out that the text says that Max s room
turned into a forest. Then, I will show the class how the text supports the aspects of the forest

For one, it is hard to incorporate many mediums. As I practice giving this performance, I need to
know specifically at what time I will need to turn the page. This is vital to the project, as I need
to have the text, music, and illustrations line up perfectly to accurately represent the forest
landscape in each medium. To solve this problem, I have to go through my performance many
times, noting what the words say, how to inflex my voice, and at what time I need to turn the
page so that the performance will run smoothly and accurately represent every aspect of the
forest landscape. Another challenge that I have is trying to replay the song, since I currently
can only play it from YouTube. To make sure this isn t a problem, I will download the song and put
it on replay as I perform. However, despite these challenges, I feel a lot of success with this project!

Analysis Of The Tracks Of My Tears
Popular singer Elton John once said; music has healing power; it has the ability to take people
out of themselves for a few hours , and for most, music is the portal to an out of body experience.
African American lyricists especially have been found to use the art of music to escape the real
world, commencing from the slavery era and onward. The blues song titled The Tracks of My
Tears does just that; expresses the ability to remove your soul from a treacherous reality.
Similarly, the lyrics from popular modern songs, written by black artists, speak volumes about
what is presently going on in the country, parallel to the way African American slavery songs
did. Music written at an earlier period have been found to correlate to music of the past through
providing strong emotion toward present day commentary. The Tracks of My Tears is a blues
song that tells a tale of heartache through the breakup between a man and his girlfriend;
following the conflicting ability to hide the pain of loss through a fake smile. This song was
written and performed by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles in 1965. The lyrics explain that
since his girlfriend left, he looks to other females to fill an empty void, although he believes she
is the permanent one . Out of fear that his girl may find out she is truly missed, the lyricist says
my smile is my makeup I wear since my break up with you . The true emotion of sorrow is hidden
while attempting to remove himself from the harshness of reality for a

The Importance Of Italian Immigration To America
No Such Thing
Starting in 1890, Italian immigrants began to travel from their hometowns of Italy to their new
world, America. Known as the New Immigration, the transition became the third largest
immigrating wave from Europe. Records show, that in 1913 that the number of Italians living in
America stood at an all time high. Most of the Italian immigrants coming to the states had stepped
onto American soil at Ellis Island in New York City.
Four of the Italian immigrants that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Italy to embark on their
journey to America, existed as my great grandparents. Being a full blooded Italian means that I still
have some family members living in Italy. Having the cultural heritage of an Italian has had a huge
influence on my life due to the fact that I ve stayed surrounded by the culture ever since my
childhood. Some traditions of a normal Italian family consist of food, rituals, religion, affiliations,
and more food.
Baptizing a child in a Roman Catholic church, remains as one of the most important traditions in
the Italian culture. During this ceremony, the parents select a godmother and godfather for the
child. As a child, I experienced baptism and to this day I have my godparents. In the future, I plan
on baptizing my children, and keeping the tradition thriving. Every Italian family loves big meal

Essay on CanadaВґs Mixedwood Plains and Pollution
Canada is a very large country, with areas of land in various climate regions, and land regions,
thus having many ecozones that differentiate from another. The most populated ecozone in
Canada is the Mixedwood Plains; the ecozone we are located in, named after the mixedwood
forests that are native to the area. The Mixedwood Plains is one of the smallest of the Canadian
ecozones, spanning only 175 963 kilometres squared. The Mixedwood Plains is bordered by three

More than 24 billion gallons of untreated sewage waste and storm water are pumped into the lakes
annually. Pollution is increasing as well, due to the cottage development, where people enjoy
spending their summers relaxing. For many years, the lake habitats have been affected by pollution
and habitat destruction. The market for fish is tremendous; so much so, that we have depleted our
fishing resources, and have had to market on invasive species.
As well as pollution, invasive species are damaging the lake ecosystems and food chains, made
fragile by pollution and overfishing. The introduction of a new species throws off the balance of
food chains. Some common invasive species include the sea lamprey, Asian carp, and zebra
mussels, among many others. Zebra mussels have dramatically influenced and affected stable
food chains by reducing the amount of zooplankton and phytoplankton. This presents a problem,
as fish mostly feed on the drifters, and so they go hungry and die, leaving no food for larger fish
to prey on. In addition to underwater disruption, it affects us as well, but only slightly. Plankton
and algae especially are the most productive aquatic producers of oxygen, and by the decreasing
population, we lose oxygen as well. The sea lamprey is also a problem, though it is not so
influential to ecosystems as the zebra mussel.
The Canadian and US governments are working together on solutions to treat pollution and habitat
destruction, as well as overfishing and

Analysis Of The Book The Of Socrates
Robbie Higdon
Professor Swinehart
Intro to Phil. Questions
15 October 2014
The fact that [Socrates ] trial came to court when it need not have done so, the handling of the
trial itself, and now this absurd ending which will be thought to have got beyond our control
through some cowardice and unmanliness on our part, since we did not save you, or you save
yourself, when it was possible (45e 46e). This quote from the text Crito, written by Plato, directly
illustrates Crito s claim of feeling ashamed on Socrates behalf and on behalf of his friends, if what
happened was due to cowardice on their part. In order for us to be able to validate this argument
as persuasive or not, we must first take a look at the definitions of courage and manliness.
Plato more clearly discusses these attributes of courage and manliness in one of his other works,
Laches. In the Laches, Socrates engages two generals, Nicias and Laches, in conversation.
Laches first defines a man of courage as one who does not run away from an enemy. So if Crito
thought it was cowardly of Socrates to take his punishment instead of escaping that brings up a
major contradiction in Laches definition. As we know, Socrates decides to stay and face his
allegations in court, and eventually die, instead of attempting an escape. This makes him a man of
courage according to Laches first definition. But, sure enough, Socrates proceeds to dispute Laches
definition by saying that it does not cover all the examples of courage,

The Hurt Locker Analysis

that they were at. The director made the intensity of the scenes with the bombs very realistic. The
emotion of the characters while detaching the bombs were realistic and the reality of the emotion
made the viewers feel as if though they were at the site too. The movie s setting was during and in

all of those people lined up along the roads and on the bridges to see him off. The difference
between the two main characters of each movie is that one was a sniper, and one was part of a
bomb squad. A bomb squad is people in the military who search for bombs and detach the wires
that set them off. They have to wear special suits and everything and risk killing themselves

interrupting others. The scenes in which we had to fly Bat Boy were the hardest because we
had to get timing right for everything, as well as the fluidity of the pull. The scene where he

off the acting block and pulling the rope with others took plenty of practice as well. For every

Animal Farm is a simpler, almost light hearted take on a communistic society, told through the
perspective of farm animals who rebelled and overtook the farm; these animals represent those
involved in the Russian revolution, as well as the rise of communism. Manchurian Candidate has a
story that is a bit more rough on the perception of communism; it s a story of a man who is
struggling with corruption and brainwashing to further a communistic agenda. While both of these
stories seem to have only a few ideals in common, they both share a common central theme

complete coincidence on a commercial flight to Amsterdam. Me and my fear of heights, choose

Mr. Ash work for his adviser. In the novel, Roland is unhappy with his job because of his salary,

that Mr. Ash wrote, and when they fall out and they show a hint that will change his life. These

Second Question: The Difference
This novel is a great novel, I don t think I would change anything but if I had to pick one thing
then it would be the title. I felt the title that the author had picked doesn t go with the story. In the
novel, Roland had an interest in finding out more about Christabel, but he wasn t possessed by
her. I felt there wasn t anything possession type in this novel. when you first read the title you
would automatically think its a ghost novel but it s not. When it starts out explaining the setting it
says that the story takes place in the 19th century and then you would get an idea that it ll show
some type of spiritual things since it s from back in the time and it doesn t. I feel the author could
have picked a better title.
Third Question: The Recommendation
If you are into romance, with a little adventure novel, then I would recommend this novel. This
novel has a good plot structure, and it showed the narrator point of view clearly. One of the things
I liked about this novel is the tone that the author used. In this novel, there were two types of tone
that were used and those were an optimistic tone and a deep feelings tone.
Fourth Question: Reflection
Quotation (pg.301): I cannot let you burn me up, nor can I resist you. No mere human can stand in

To analyzing the fantasy world of the protagonist in this play, I need to first look at the personal

sensibility and lives in a wandering life that can not adapt to reality, we can get a sense of the
life of Tennessee Williams, who has fled into the fantasy world of literature and art. These
aspects can be considered as theatricalization of Williams autobiography. In the first part of this
comedy, Blanche goes to the Elysium where her sister Stella lives. As soon as they meet, they
were very glad to see each other because they are the family. However, Blanche s attitude toward
Stella is a little weird. It seemed that Blanch cannot wait for Stella to finish speaking. Blanch only

tick, tick, tick. I was so anxious I could barely sit still. I was 7 years old when I found out I was
getting a new family.I didn t know what I was excited about more, was it that it was the last day
of school or the day I was finally gonna get adopted, I was mostly excited about getting adopted.
Getting home putting on the perfect white dress I have ever worn in my life, It was huge on me
but I looked beautiful. The bell rang and I hurried up, grabbed my stuff and got on the bus. It
was the most beautiful day ever There was no clouds in the sky and it was hot. When I got home
my mom said are you ready Yes I can t wait I said. I go and put on the dress, it went all the way
past my ankles. As a kid would say, it is cute. I walked into the kitchen where my mom had to put
safety pins in it because it was so big It felt like I was gonna take a trip down the stairs. After a
while I was so excited I couldn t stand it, it got to a point where I started annoying my mom
asking her if it was time yet. When she was ready I ran to the suburban. I sat all the way in the
back because I loved the back it was my favorite spot. On our way there I sat in my car seat
waiting to get to the court house it took us about two minutes to get there but it felt like hours. I got
out of the suburban and waited for everyone to get out, when everyone was finally out of the
suburban we went into the

Guillermo Del Toro s New Horror Film
Beware of Crimson Peak! no really beware.
Guillermo del Toro is the director behind this new horror film which does not seem to inspire a
single scream. The film becomes the opposite of what del Toro had in mind, who dared to think
that Crimson Peak would be a groundbreaking film in the horror genre. He thought this film could
reach the level of films like, The Exorcist, The Innocents, The Omen, or The Shining. No del Toro,
no, it will not.
Heroine Edith Cushing (Wasikowska) is an aspiring American author with an eye for the
supernatural. She was compared to Jane Austen, however, Edith replied she will rather be author
Mary Shelley (author of Frankenstein ), who died a widow. Edith falls for charming, if slightly
frayed, British baronet Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston) at the same time that her widowed ... Show

The murders, spoiler alert, are gory. In a way, too exaggerated; too over the top gory. In fact, one
of the murders, without mentioning who dies or who is the murderer, has incredibly and and
implausible strength. Not implying because the killer is a woman, but, perhaps, even considering a
man, not all men could not have employed such levels of strength.
It is for these and other reasons that Universal refused to finance this film and decided to only
finance the advertising and marketing campaign of Crimson Peak. It is also why del Toro had to
pay out of pocket, because he could not accept the studio s request, or rather stipulation, to make
the film a PG 13 film. Out of stubbornness Crimson Peak, which is one of del Toro s favorite
movies to have made, the director and the entire film felt short.
The performances are decent, but since the characters are so idiotically written, the viewer is
incapable to feel any sympathy towards them. Instead of the script having drawn dramatic and
frightening performances, they became comical. Actually the film itself is a horror comedy by
serendipity rather than the gothic romance it yearns to

Why Is The Magna Carta Important
Magna Carta Magna Carta was the most important document that shape the rule of constitutional
law in England. It led to the development of common laws and other constitutional documents that
helped build the government we have today. Over the centuries many of the clauses were renewed
and most of the originals had been repealed form the English law, even though it is not the same as
it was in 1215 the Magna Cartastill carries the same general concept. The Magna Carta was the first
document forced onto King John of Englandby a group of barons (his subjects) to limit his power
by law and protect their privileges. Charter 39 and 40 stated: No free man shall be arrested or
imprisoned or disseized or outlawed or exiled or in any way victimized

Patriotism And Patriotism In World War I
Patriotism in World War I The First World War, a conflict between the Allied Powers and the
Central Powers, began in 1914. The United States did not join the Allied Powers until 1917. The
popular music during the mid 1910s displays the patriotism and nationalism shown by the
American people during the time the United Statesjoined the war. The United States was
attempting to stay out of the war because they wanted to remain neutral and to maintain proper
relations with foreign countries, but nonetheless, they joined because tensions with Germany were
increasing and the Zimmerman Telegram was sent which suggests the idea of Germany
becoming allies with Mexico. This was the starting point of patriotism in the United States
because once the people saw war as inevitable, they began to feel confidence in the capabilities of
their country, (Royde Smith). Pieces of sheet music from this time period include The Fight Is On.
Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot; America Today (Don t Worry Uncle Sam s
Alright), by Herbert Moore and W.R. Williams; and When Woodrow Wilson
Takes A Hand, by S.E.
Cox. These pieces are the beginnings of the contemporary American belief that the United States is
superior to all opposing powers. The sheet music of wartime, therefore, reflects the attitudes of the
American people throughout this period. The 1918 song, The Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon
and Carl D. Vandersloot builds on the emotions of the United States entering into World War I
. The
cover of the sheet music depicts a soldier fighting for the Allied Powers, storming into a trench of
the Central Powers to attack. The broader scene shown is on a battlefield, and the background
portrays the chaos of war. Above the mayhem shown in this picture is a true symbol of
patriotism: the waving American flag. The song s lyrics target patriotic, pro war Americans. The
denotative meaning of the lyrics is that the United States is going to fight in the first World War.
They are going to bring all of their power and strength to the battle and not stop until the war is
over. The lyrics make several claims that the United States is fighting for their freedom. This is
made clear when the song says, For we are knowing

A Discussion Of Faith Rose Surrounding The World Trade Center
After the Brussels massacre that took place on March 22nd, a question of faith rose surrounding
the sanctity of the Islamic faith. In an article meant to expose answers to this very question John
Kasich brings up a point that when people claim France is at war with Islam, they actually should
be referring to radical Islam. This point pulled further controversy as those who were not Islamic
began to wonder if the faith condoned suicide bombings in the name of expelling infidels and
bringing the coming of the Caliphate. Another case mentioned in the same article details the
prosecution of the Blind Sheikh, whose terrorist group attempted to bring down the World Trade
Center back in 1993. While the U.S. government had attempted to paint... Show more content on

Muslim conquests lasted from 622 AD to 750 AD, and would continue to move forward until the
18th century. These expansions of religion and politics were led by dynasties of Caliphs ,
beginning with the prophet Muhammad and then the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs. Islam spread
from Mecca to Medina and furthered into central Asia, North Africa, Spain, and parts of the old
Byzantine and Persian empires. Despite this, there is a large misunderstanding about the spread
of Islam during this period of time and why the expansion of the Catholic Church after the Dark
Ages instead takes precedence in Western Europe. The halt of the expansion of Islamic rule in
Europe can be linked back to the Battle of Tours back in 733 AD. This battle was meant to be the
Islamic Empires first expansion into Europe nearing the end of the period called the Dark Ages in
European history. This resulted in the expansion of the early modern Catholic Church in Europe
during the Renaissance and the misunderstanding of Islamic politics. The Prophet Muhammad s
large influences over the foundations of Islam helped shape its empire into a powerful militant
group that would result in the unification of Arabia in 622 AD . From there, Muhammad would be
looked to by many as both a religious prophet and a competent military leader. Conquests made my

Restaurants may be classified or distinguished in many different ways. The primary factors are
usually the food itself (e.g. vegetarian, seafood, steak); the cuisine (e.g. Italian, Chinese, Japanese,
Indian, French, Mexican, Thai) and/or the style of offering (e.g. tapas bar, a sushi train, a tasted
restaurant, a buffet restaurant or a yum cha restaurant). Beyond this, restaurants may differentiate
themselves on factors including speed, formality, location, cost, service, or novelty themes (such
as automated restaurants). Restaurants range from inexpensive and informal lunching or dining
places catering to people working nearby, with simple food served in simple settings at low
prices, to expensive establishments serving refined food and fine wines in a formal setting. In
the former case, customers usually wear casual clothing. In the latter case, depending on culture
and local traditions, customers might wear semi casual, semi formal or formal wear. Typically,
customers sit at tables, their orders are taken by a waiter, who brings the food when it is ready.
After eating, the customers then pay the bill. For some time the travelling public has been catered
for with ship s messes and railway restaurant cars which are, in effect, travelling restaurants.

Gender Roles In Monty Python And The Holy Grail
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, tells the story of
King Arthur and he and his knight s quest for the Holy Grail. The writing and directing of the
movie shows the problems of society. Monty Python and the Holy Grail uses satirical techniques
to expose gender roles and greed at the expense of others. The Black knight exposes how often
now and in history gender roles affect society. While it can be displayed in multiple places in the
movie, it is most evident here. The scene shows King Arthur encounter a knight keen on fighting.
But when king arthur begins chopping off the knights limbs, he is not hurt at all it seems. He
responds simply Tis but a flesh wound . When Arthur chops off all of the knights limbs of the
knight and he is left just a head... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

poverty of the lower classes. One man killed another for money, and everyone is wearing

Sceptile Controversy Blame
by BlameTheBlax One of the biggest causes of debate when it comes to PokГ©mon is which
starter to choose from. Usually, people will simply choose the one that they like the most,
however, there are those who aim only for the most competitively viable. So when PokГ©mon
Sun and Moon came out with Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio, there was bound to be controversy
over which one was the best. Sometime later, we received the leaks of the starter final evolutions.
While the masses shrugged this off as yet another fan concept, I personally found the art to be far
too detailed to be entirely fake. Lo and behold, a month before the game s official release, the
demos were subject to datamining and we found that the leaks were actually valid. While I m unsure

This gives it plenty of wiggle room for balancing out stats, but if I were to decide them, it would
look something like 70/105/70/100/70/120. This gives it enough defense to take one or two
weaker hits, the speed to outpace the majority of PokГ©mon it ought to in order to prosper in
competitive, and the attack to actually do some damage with every hit. As for hidden abilities,
there are countless possibilities with this. My list of ideas is based off of abilities that are
somewhat likely, so with that said, here they are: Sniper, Levitate, Technician, Infiltrator. Sniper is
an obvious choice, personally I wouldn t like it, but I could imagine the benefits if it gets Focus
Energy. Levitate is also fairly obvious, why would we have a bird that can t fly? Empoleon makes
this idea redundant, not to mention Grass resists Ground anyway, but never complain about
immunities. There s also how Ghosts can levitate, but this holds much less weight due to
PokГ©mon like Golurk and Aegislash. Technician would actually be very intriguing, since Hidden
Powers would be boosted and it could run Shadow Sneak with the boost, assuming it gets it. Lastly,
Infiltrator would be interesting. While it may not be the best competitively, the ability to ignore
Screens and Substitutes is awfully rare and would make Decidueye become even more

Archetypes of Edward Scissor Hands In the words of Carl Jung, a well known psychologist, an
archetype is An innate tendency which molds and transforms the individual consciousness. A fact

Greek Art
The history of art is one the most fascinating type of history there is. Reasons can range from
having the unique ability to tell the story of every artist putting their own mark on art culture to
simply being the story of how people were able to create an outlet where they could express the
way they were feeling about society or changes within Earth itself, with beautiful and admirable
artwork. But of all, the artwork created a chance to be openly interpreted by anyone and be
observed differently and freely. It s like a secret message that is created in each work of art that
contains the story behind it or the reason why the artwork was created in the first place. However
they was also jealousy and pride that bloomed with creating art. Inspiration to artists came from
anything: nature, loved ones, experiences but most of all other artists.... Show more content on

The Greeks who swore the Romans kept coping the way certain works made by Greek artists,
was one argument that till this day many are trying to unravel layers of reasons behind certain
Greek works could have sparked inspiration to make an idea their own without giving credit
where credit is due. One example would be the marble sculpture of the Old Market Woman. She
became a very well known piece of artwork that further served as an expression of how women
would dress and look like during the Hellenistic Age period according to (https:/

the history of the uprising Hellenistic Age will show how pieces of artwork including the Old

of remaking new Greek inspired works rooted from Romans admiring the wealthy and beauty of
works of Greek art to the point where they longed to make their own pieces of work with the

Diabetes
Scientists have found a way to reverse type 1 diabetes. They pre treated blood stem cells to
produce excess PD L1, a protein that plays a major role in new immunotherapy treatments for
cancer.
While drugs that inhibit cancer such as Tecentriq by Genentech are effective in fighting some
cancers, in diabetes, the PD L1 needed to be boosted. The protein, called an immune checkpoint
because it prevents T cells from recognizing and attacking cancer, is instrumental in crippling
autoreactive T cells that destroy cells which produce insulin, Fierce Biotech reported.

In diabetes, the blood stem cells are defective, promote inflammation, and possibly lead to the

Novel therapeutic tool
The resolution of PD L1 deficiency could provide a novel therapeutic tool for type 1 diabetes,
Moufida Ben Nasr, the lead author of the research, said. To optimize the chemical cocktail used to
stimulate the PD L1, researchers from Boston Children s are working with Fate Therapeutics, a
biotech company based in San Diego, California. More research to determine the treatment s
safety, the ideal dosing schedule, and duration of the positive effects of boosting PD L1 are being
planned. The team met with the US Food and Drug Administration to discuss the plan for a clinical
trial for people suffering from type 1 diabetes.
Many experimental approaches to treat diabetes focus on counteracting the non stop attack on islet
cells that produce insulin which causes the chronic ailment. In North Carolina, researchers created
in October artificial beta cells that could detect the need for insulin which automatically secretes it.
The technology, they believe, could be delivered using a painless skin patch.
In early 2017, Medtronic started to market the first automatic insulin pump with a built in glucose
sensor. In the UK, researchers held in

Limitations Of Peribulbar Anesthesia
Discussion With an examination of the acquired results from the study, we can notice that the
quality of globe akinesia in the 10th minute in the rocuronium group was comparatively better, and
86% of the patients underwent the total akinesia; whereas, the percentage of the total akinesia for
the cisatracurium group and the control group in 10th minute was 73% and 66% respectively (p
value 0.444).
Peribulbar anesthesia is widely used for cataract surgery. This method is associated with less
serious complications compared to intravenous anesthesia (8) However, it has the disadvantage of
a slow onset of orbital akinesia (9) and the frequent need for a block supplement. (10) To overcome
these limitations, many adjuvant drugs have been added to the local anesthetic mixture used for the
peribulbar block to increase its efficacy and accelerate its initial rate; their effects, however, were
different. (11, 12, 13)
In retrobulbar approach, a needle is inserted into the intraconal space, a space behind the eye
formed by the extraocular muscles, containing the major nerves of the eye and its adnexa.
Therefore, it may be associated with potentially serious eye damage such as: a scleral
perforation, a stimulation of the oculocardial reflex and an injection of an anesthetic in the
perioptic meningeal space. However, this approach may have the advantage of rapid onset of
analgesia and akinesia with the use of relatively smaller volumes of anesthetic. (14) (15) In
addition to commonly observed conjunctival edema, a higher initial IOP is accompanied by the
higher volume of the anesthetic agent (16), also the need for additional injection is higher for
peribulbar block compared to retrobulbar block (14).
Neuromuscular blockers have been used as adjuvants for many trials. Reah et al. added a dose of
0.5 mg vecuronium to a mixture of lidocaine and bupivacaine with 15 IU / mL hyaluronidase. (6)
In the study of kucukyavuz et al. Atracurium 5 mg was added to the same anesthetic mixture
without hyaluronidase. (5) The siege of Peribulbar was carried out in these two studies using a
technique of 2 injections (Infertembporal and medial orbital). Y.Aissaouit et al. added 0.06 mg / kg
of rocuronium to the anesthetic mixture,

Specifically, I was able to apply many of the concepts and skills that were discussed within the MIDCM coursework in a professional setting, such as language aid, guided research, community development, proposal/grant support, youth engagement activities and education initiatives. My two primary projects throughout the summer internship were the Vulnerable Populations Project and the CYFAR Grant Program. The Vulnerable Populations Project focuses on the nine groups of youth listed above. I was tasked with researching information on each group, finding federal laws related to each specific group, and condensing the information to be posted online to the public. In addition to performing guided research, I contacted the leaders of each Vulnerable Populations Group to request further visuals or material that could be used on the (name of website) website. I also worked on the CYFAR Grant Program, which provided me with a practical overview of the federal grants process, especially development projects centered on youth. I read the project descriptions from (what group around the country?)around the country and reviewed the reported accomplishments, demographics, and funds for each project. Ultimately, I was tasked with the decision whether to approve the project or request clarification from the project directors, if the data submission was deficient. ... • 3. Essay about Keeping the Family Together in A Raisin In... Keeping the Family Together in A Raisin In The Sun What a loving mother! Lena Younger, or Mama, is nurturing and supportive when it comes to raising and maintaining a family. Personally speaking, being nurturing means to love, care for, and show concern over someone. Analyzing Mama s relationships with family members can show us her view on parenting and ultimately show us her devotion to her family. In A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry, Mama is a nurturing mother who cares for and protects her family in her struggle to keep them unified. This gift to Travis serves two purposes. Not only does it provide him with a stepping stone for starting his own family but also it is a tie that will bind the Youngers closer together. Mama knows that money and living space is a difficulty for her family. Mama s gift to her grandson shows how she is trying to help her family move on and move up in life. Mama s relationship with Beneatha expresses a sense of nurturing shown in life lessons. A very subtle display of gentleness towards her daughter is in reference to relationships. When Mama inquires about a young African American man her daughter has an interest in, Beneatha tells her mother that he is a fool. Mama s response is merely Well I guess you better not waste your time with no fools (1420). Mama s lack of questioning or second guessing her daughter and her understanding and respecting her view are well received by Beneatha. This sense of nurturing brings them closer together and leaves both mother and daughter happy. Family values are the context of Mama s second nurturing lesson to Beneatha. After a conflictive encounter with her brother, Beneatha expresses a lack of respect and love for Walter. Lena Younger first quickly ensures that she correctly heard her daughter. Although Mama does not come across as gentle as she has in the past, her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This renowned American Pop Artist, known for his repeating reproductions and gaudy colors, produced this piece using the printmaking method. Warhol didn t want his paintings of mass produced commercial goods to be conceptually stimulating. He wanted to make his work relatable so that viewers could approach them and have a clear interpretation. Warhol replicated the appearance of manufactured objects and famous icons for the sake of expressing his view on modern culture in a manner that had nothing to do with personality or individual expression. According to Eric Shanes in his book titled Warhol, Warhol s 32 Soup Cans were initially displayed in a single line around the gallery walls. The original display maximized the repetitiousness of the imagery. The display was so spatially extended, and ultimately projected the fearsome notion that the whole universe was filled with Campbell s soup. Shane points out that Warhol developed the notion of taking an image familiar to millions and presenting it frontally, without painterly qualities, and with a flat surround (as though it was some kind of holy icon) (Shanes, 52). Shanes points out that Warhol formed an alliance between abstract expressionist paint handling and popular cultural imagery. Shanes also notes that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 17. The Effect Of Cooling Capacity At Different Air Velocity... 5. Results and discussion 5.1 Cooling tower data Figure 5.1 shows the plot of cooling capacity at different air velocity for a constant water flow rate. Fig. 5.1: Cooling capacity at different air velocity for a constant water flow rate From the graph, it is clear that the cooling capacity increases with increase in the air velocity. Also, at higher water flow rate the cooling capacity is higher. This trend can be attributed to the fact that at higher flow conditions, the convective heat transfer flux is higher resulting in a higher heat transfer rate. The mass transfer is higher as the humid air is removed from the column at a much faster rate owing to the high flow rates; this helps in stripping of water from the liquid phase. Higher mass transfer would result in more energy being gained by air in the form on latent heat. The curve for lowest water flow rate (28.9L/hr) shows the largest slope between the 2nd and 3rd data points. This can be explained by the fact that the slow water flow rate results in a high residence time in the column that provides air sufficient time to strip. Figure 5.2 shows the plot of cooling coefficient at different air velocity for a constant water flow rate. Fig. 5.2: Cooling coefficient at different air velocity for a constant water flow rate From the graph, it is clear that the cooling coefficient increases with increase in the air velocity. • 18. Moonlight Sonata Analysis The Piano Sonata No.14 in C sharp minor (Moonlight Sonata); Op.27, No.2, was composed by Ludwig Van Beethoven in 1801. The name Moonlight Sonata was not coined by Beethoven himself, but instead by the German music critic, Ludwig Rellstab in 1836. Rellstab wrote that the sonata had reminded him of the reflected moonlight off of Lake Lucerne, hence the Moonlight Sonata became the unofficial, moreover a permanent title of the piece (The History of the Moonlight Sonata, 2012). Regarding the reasoning of which Beethoven composed the piece there are two reasonings that have circulated. Due to the Beethoven experiencing a loss in hearing, it has been interpreted that the piece itself is a means of him accepting his impending deafness (The History of the Moonlight Sonata). This can be heard through the slow fluctuation in the treble while there is a sense of weariness in the bass, which one can argue imparts the sense of acceptance Beethoven may have about becoming less and less able to hear his music. Therefore, another possible reason for Beethoven to write the piece is that he had written it out of love for his 17 year old pupil, Countess Giulietta Guicciardi (Giulietta Guicciardi (1784 1856), Beethoven and Moonlight Sonata, 2013). Regarding the piece itself, Moonlight Sonata is divided into three movements. The market for fish is tremendous; so much so, that we have depleted our fishing resources, and have had to market on invasive species. As well as pollution, invasive species are damaging the lake ecosystems and food chains, made fragile by pollution and overfishing. The introduction of a new species throws off the balance of food chains. Some common invasive species include the sea lamprey, Asian carp, and zebra mussels, among many others. Zebra mussels have dramatically influenced and affected stable food chains by reducing the amount of zooplankton and phytoplankton. Questions 15 October 2014 The fact that [Socrates ] trial came to court when it need not have done so, the handling of the trial itself, and now this absurd ending which will be thought to have got beyond our control through some cowardice and unmanliness on our part, since we did not save you, or you save yourself, when it was possible (45e 46e). This quote from the text Crito, written by Plato, directly illustrates Crito s claim of feeling ashamed on Socrates behalf and on behalf of his friends, if what happened was due to cowardice on their part. In order for us to be able to validate this argument as persuasive or not, we must first take a look at the definitions of courage and manliness. Plato more clearly discusses these attributes of courage and manliness in one of his other works, Laches. In the Laches, Socrates engages two generals, Nicias and Laches, in conversation. Laches first defines a man of courage as one who does not run away from an enemy. So if Crito thought it was cowardly of Socrates to take his punishment instead of escaping that brings up a major contradiction in Laches definition. As we know, Socrates decides to stay and face his allegations in court, and eventually die, instead of attempting an escape. This makes him a man of courage according to Laches first definition. But, sure enough, Socrates proceeds to dispute Laches definition by saying that it does not cover all the examples of courage, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three of the ropes were used for the opening scene where the Taylor children would come in on their harnesses in the cave. Working on a production of that size, it is a necessity that everyone learns to work as a team. With an enormous cast and crew, and a set with many pieces, we all had to work in a way so that we could all do our jobs without interrupting others. The scenes in which we had to fly Bat Boy were the hardest because we had to get timing right for everything, as well as the fluidity of the pull. The scene where he flies out had to be a smooth movement. If it was choppy it wouldn t have looked right. Jumping off the acting block and pulling the rope with others took plenty of practice as well. For every fly scene, no matter how much practice we got, there would always be a point where we could end up grabbing each others hands while we were pulling on the rope. While this could have been a problem, we learned that we needed to just keep going with pulling the rope. Teamwork wise, the slaughterhouse wall and door were also something that took a lot of practice. The first is the National Action Party, or PAN (Partido Accion Nacional). The National Action Party is a conservative liberal party that is seen as one with close ties to the Roman Catholic Church. Generally, PAN supports minimal government intervention in the economy. The National Action Party was founded in 1939, mainly consisting of support from the northern parts of the country entailing the urban middle class. PAN represents the interests of business and of the Roman Catholic Church. Manchurian Candidate And Animal Farm Comparison Essay Despite having vastly different plotlines, characters, settings, the stories of Animal Farm and Manchurian Candidate have strikingly similar parallels when it comes to the basis of theme. Animal Farm is a simpler, almost light hearted take on a communistic society, told through the perspective of farm animals who rebelled and overtook the farm; these animals represent those involved in the Russian revolution, as well as the rise of communism. Manchurian Candidate has a story that is a bit more rough on the perception of communism; it s a story of a man who is struggling with corruption and brainwashing to further a communistic agenda. I felt there wasn t anything possession type in this novel. when you first read the title you would automatically think its a ghost novel but it s not. When it starts out explaining the setting it says that the story takes place in the 19th century and then you would get an idea that it ll show some type of spiritual things since it s from back in the time and it doesn t. • 45. Patriotism And Patriotism In World War I Patriotism in World War I The First World War, a conflict between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers, began in 1914. The United States did not join the Allied Powers until 1917. The popular music during the mid 1910s displays the patriotism and nationalism shown by the American people during the time the United Statesjoined the war. The United States was attempting to stay out of the war because they wanted to remain neutral and to maintain proper relations with foreign countries, but nonetheless, they joined because tensions with Germany were increasing and the Zimmerman Telegram was sent which suggests the idea of Germany becoming allies with Mexico. This was the starting point of patriotism in the United States because once the people saw war as inevitable, they began to feel confidence in the capabilities of their country, (Royde Smith). Pieces of sheet music from this time period include The Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot; America Today (Don t Worry Uncle Sam s Alright), by Herbert Moore and W.R. Williams; and When Woodrow Wilson Takes A Hand, by S.E. Cox. These pieces are the beginnings of the contemporary American belief that the United States is superior to all opposing powers. The sheet music of wartime, therefore, reflects the attitudes of the American people throughout this period. The 1918 song, The Fight Is On. Song, by J.R. Shannon and Carl D. Vandersloot builds on the emotions of the United States entering into World War I . The cover of the sheet music depicts a soldier fighting for the Allied Powers, storming into a trench of the Central Powers to attack. The broader scene shown is on a battlefield, and the background portrays the chaos of war. Above the mayhem shown in this picture is a true symbol of patriotism: the waving American flag. The song s lyrics target patriotic, pro war Americans. The denotative meaning of the lyrics is that the United States is going to fight in the first World War. They are going to bring all of their power and strength to the battle and not stop until the war is over. The lyrics make several claims that the United States is fighting for their freedom. They pre treated blood stem cells to produce excess PD L1, a protein that plays a major role in new immunotherapy treatments for cancer. While drugs that inhibit cancer such as Tecentriq by Genentech are effective in fighting some cancers, in diabetes, the PD L1 needed to be boosted. The protein, called an immune checkpoint because it prevents T cells from recognizing and attacking cancer, is instrumental in crippling autoreactive T cells that destroy cells which produce insulin, Fierce Biotech reported. Diabetes free Researchers from Boston s Children infused the produced excess PD L1 into mouse models of diabetes. The treated stem cells of the rodents sped towards the pancreas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In diabetes, the blood stem cells are defective, promote inflammation, and possibly lead to the onset of the disease. The team profiled the transcriptome of blood stem cells to find out the cells the proteins are making. Novel therapeutic tool The resolution of PD L1 deficiency could provide a novel therapeutic tool for type 1 diabetes, Moufida Ben Nasr, the lead author of the research, said. To optimize the chemical cocktail used to stimulate the PD L1, researchers from Boston Children s are working with Fate Therapeutics, a biotech company based in San Diego, California. More research to determine the treatment s safety, the ideal dosing schedule, and duration of the positive effects of boosting PD L1 are being planned. The team met with the US Food and Drug Administration to discuss the plan for a clinical trial for people suffering from type 1 diabetes. Many experimental approaches to treat diabetes focus on counteracting the non stop attack on islet cells that produce insulin which causes the chronic ailment. In North Carolina, researchers created in October artificial beta cells that could detect the need for insulin which automatically secretes it. The technology, they believe, could be delivered using a painless skin patch. In early 2017, Medtronic started to market the first automatic insulin pump with a built in glucose sensor. In the UK, researchers held in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 56. Limitations Of Peribulbar Anesthesia Discussion With an examination of the acquired results from the study, we can notice that the quality of globe akinesia in the 10th minute in the rocuronium group was comparatively better, and 86% of the patients underwent the total akinesia; whereas, the percentage of the total akinesia for the cisatracurium group and the control group in 10th minute was 73% and 66% respectively (p value 0.444). Peribulbar anesthesia is widely used for cataract surgery. This method is associated with less serious complications compared to intravenous anesthesia (8) However, it has the disadvantage of a slow onset of orbital akinesia (9) and the frequent need for a block supplement. (10) To overcome these limitations, many adjuvant drugs have been added to the local anesthetic mixture used for the peribulbar block to increase its efficacy and accelerate its initial rate; their effects, however, were different. (11, 12, 13) In retrobulbar approach, a needle is inserted into the intraconal space, a space behind the eye formed by the extraocular muscles, containing the major nerves of the eye and its adnexa. Therefore, it may be associated with potentially serious eye damage such as: a scleral perforation, a stimulation of the oculocardial reflex and an injection of an anesthetic in the perioptic meningeal space. However, this approach may have the advantage of rapid onset of analgesia and akinesia with the use of relatively smaller volumes of anesthetic. (14) (15) In addition to commonly observed conjunctival edema, a higher initial IOP is accompanied by the higher volume of the anesthetic agent (16), also the need for additional injection is higher for peribulbar block compared to retrobulbar block (14). Neuromuscular blockers have been used as adjuvants for many trials. Reah et al. added a dose of 0.5 mg vecuronium to a mixture of lidocaine and bupivacaine with 15 IU / mL hyaluronidase. (6) In the study of kucukyavuz et al. Atracurium 5 mg was added to the same anesthetic mixture without hyaluronidase. (5) The siege of Peribulbar was carried out in these two studies using a technique of 2 injections (Infertembporal and medial orbital). Y.Aissaouit et al. added 0.06 mg / kg of rocuronium to the anesthetic mixture, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 57. Slope Test Lab Report Slope class (visual interpretation) (fig 1) shows that according to our model for the area less than or equal to 5В° is flat, so the majority of areas falls within less than 5В° areas. It means that only some areas fall within greater than 5В°. The statistical information (fig 2) of slope class shows that the min. slope is 0В°, max is 31.36В° and the mean is 4В°. Therefore, generally the majority of the slope areas are low. Figure 1: Slope classify areaFigure 2: Classification Information Model 1 has been created using Booean And function. This operation has combined matching the criteria of High, Flat and Low, i.e. High Flat Peat. The 3 suitable categories show 56.04% (number of cells 804809), 27.78% (number of cells 398921) and 4.77% (number of cells 68499) totaling 88.59% of the total area as suitable areas and 1 unsuitable area represents 11.47% (number of cells 163827). Model 3 represents approximately 88.59% suitable areas whereas Model 2 represents 43.71% suitable areas. In addition, Model 2 shows only one type of suitable areas combining three criteria (High, Flat and Peat) whereas Model 3 shows 3 types of suitable areas. Q5. What is the percentage of the total area that matches these criteria? Include a small screen grab of your map in your answer. Explain how, and why, these results differ from those in Model 1?
