Discuss Strategies That Aid In Reading Comprehension
Chapters 6 through 9 discuss strategies that aid in comprehension. These chapters dive deeper into
strategies that will help a reader s comprehension while thoroughly explaining strategies that should
be implemented in a classroom. One main point is that readers should follow their thinking tracks and
explore their thinking and be able to notice when they are straying away from the meaning of the
reading. It s important that students are able to make connections while they re reading. Another main
point would be that questions help clarify and unlock a deeper meaning while reading. Visualizing and
inferring is an important aspect for reading because it helps aid in understanding. Comprehension
strategies allow readers to know a variety of tools that are beneficial. An inner conversation develops
when readers are aware of their own thoughts and are able to connect their thoughts to the text.
Reading comprehension is an ongoing process of evolving thinking. This idea stood out to me because
I think it s important to emphasis the aspect of it being an ongoing process. Students should be taught

Activating their background knowledge helps readers make connections to a text. Making connections
to personal experience facilitates understanding. This idea stood out to me because it s important for
readers to connect what they already know to what they are reading. Background knowledge helps
students connect with the text. It also helps them make comparisons and develop a better
understanding. When a reader already has the knowledge about a subject then they are able to create a
bridge to what they are reading. This connection will help them understand the text and aid in their
comprehension. I think background knowledge is beneficial for students because they can create self
to text, text to text, and text to world connections. These connections will help them relate to the text

Teaching Styles For Student Understanding And Creative...
Much like teaching styles adaptability, teachers must accommodate and adapt their teaching to ensure
student understanding and creative thought. Through tactical teaching styles that adapted and fitted the
students, students were able to understand and learn to the best of their abilities when taught by Mrs.
Graham and her colleagues. Needing diverse styles to appeal to them, students need teachers to create
creative and interactive ways to make the lessons seem interesting and relatable in their lives. Even at
the early beginnings of the school day, the Mount Olive Middle School students seemed interested
with majority of the students staying engaged for the entirety of the lesson. They showed their interest
and comfortableness in the classroom by asking questions that related to the topic that interested them
or in some cases, confused them. They were able to express their ideas, and Mrs. Graham would
expand based on what the students answered to explain further the topics of discussion. Due to these
previously established inviting environments, students felt secure and comfortable enough to share
their thoughts inside the different classrooms. During the time in the classes where the students were
able to unleash their creative sides and participate in the class, they really seemed excited to learn
during my observations. Especially during their scary story narratives, the students really responded
well to be able to come up with their own stories and discuss writing

The Post Industrial Age
Uber has been in the news recently for trying to mass market, something people have been working at
for a long time. driverless cars. These cars developed in their Advanced Technology Center in
Pittsburgh, went to the streets in mid September for some selective testing. They hope to unveil
completely driverless cars by 2021. Uber s goal of this project, as best put by their engineering
coordinator, Raffi Krikorian is, To wean us off of having drivers in the car. (Chafkin) Seeking
efficiency, they don t seem to take into account the many side effects of this development. They
released this picture on their website for the unveiling. Pictures are worth a thousand words, they
speak to both the heart and minds of individuals, in ways nothing else can. The genre of photography,
is a recently developed one finding its origin in the post industrial age. This genre has become
ubiquitous in our modern age, with these ease of access to photos and cameras. We see photos
everywhere, from ads to newspapers to instagram, they are everywhere. Whether to express emotion,
show a product, or a beautiful view, there is something special about the art of photography. Uber, in
this photograph, beautifully synthesizes the aspects so that we are drawn to it. This image of the Uber
self driving car, expresses a very complex claim, that is the direction of technology and labor in our
modern society. It seems to speak that the modern man and labor force is above peddling rides, we are

The Difference Between Wordpress And Websites
Each hosting site works very well and they both walk you through starting up your blog. Many
bloggers will tell you that one is better than the other, and maybe for them it is. But to be honest, they
are so similar it really doesn t matter which one you choose.
Once you sign up, take a moment to look at your control panel. It looks super confusing, but it gets
easier as you go. Here, you can see your plan, create domain names, add an email address, and see
how much data you are using on your blog. Most hosting sites offer a certain amount of space you can
use with them, but it s typically a large amount. Browse around the control panel and use the chat

Postpartum Depression
Ultimately, Charlotte Perkins Gilman incorporates her own personal experiences with postpartum
depression into a narrative which shows broad implications of women, how society portrays and treats
them in many ways and how those women respond to those treatments.
The injustice in society between gender is shown through the relationship between the narrator and
John, her husband. In the story, John never once called her by her name, sometimes a blessed little
goose or some other animal name, like an adult looking down at a minority. This is a discrimination
towards women and clearly represents how unfairly women were treated during those times. They
were looked down upon, treated as below human, equalling animals. John expects nothing more ...

At first she only wishes to be normal, saying mere ordinary people like John and myself . She goes
mad because her role in society is limited and her ability to express herself is constricted. The
wallpaper symbolises her imprisonment and the domestic life that traps so many women in the late
nineteenth century. Yellow usually symbolises happiness, but ironically, in this narrative the narrator is
being trapped and driven mad by the color. She only sees a repellent, almost revolting color; a
smoldering yellow, strangely faded by the slow turning sunlight. Eventually, she sees patterns which
come into focus as a desperate woman, constantly crawling and stooping, looking for an escape from
the main pattern which resemble the bars of a cage. The narrator sees herself behind the wallpaper,
realising for the first time what her status is. Like all other women during the late nineteenth century,
she wishes to break free from this sort of environment where women are considered to be nothing
more than housewives. At that time in society, women were expected to live their life bound at home,
taking care of cooking, houseworks and raising children. Free time for women was meant for them to
be sewing and doing the laundry instead of socializing in society. Many women began to protest, some
became vocal participants of women s rights movement. The narrator has to hide the only thing she
finds comfort in from everyone,

The Pros And Cons Of Gerrymandered States
Gerrymandering, the process where politicians get to choose their voters. Say there is a state with a
population of fifty, now three fifths of that state are democratic and the other two fifths are republican,
now we need to separate this state into five congressional districts. The best way to do this would be
so there are two republican representatives and three democratic. However with gerrymandering
democrats can draw districts that are unfair and they get all five representatives, but if republicans
draw the districts they can draw them were there are three republican representatives and only two
democratic representatives. This process is seen through many states. In North Carolina forty four
percent of voters voted democratic, however thanks to a creative congressional map, seventy seven
percent of representatives were republican. The twelfth district in North Carolina is considered the
most gerrymandered district in the country, and is home to two more of the top ten gerrymandered
districts. Republicans rule six of the most Gerrymandered states, including North Carolina, Louisiana,
Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Alabama. The other four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Pros And Cons Of Fast Food
The topic of fast food consumption is one that is quite controversial between those that choose to
indulge and others who choose to make healthier food choices. Fast food corporations typically offer
their customers readily made food options or pre cooked meals. Some of the largest and most
successful fast food chains in America include, McDonalds, Starbucks, Burger King, Wendy s and
Chick Fil a. All of which are just some of the many billion dollar companies.
If these companies are worth billions, it s evident that consumers are spending plenty of money within
these businesses. Despite always hearing about how unhealthy fast food is, our society chooses to
consume it regardless, which leaves us to wonder why would anyone want to put something into their
body that could potentially harm them? Yet, a fast food consumer could also argue the same about
someone who chooses to to smoke or drink alcohol. The power of persuasion easily influences
consumers to purchase things that aren t in their best interest health wise. Therefore, many brands and
companies utilize different marketing strategies in order to convince consumers to buy, without quite
indicating the effects of your purchase. In addition, most consumers also succumb to purchasing fast
food simply because it s convenient for their lifestyle. Sometimes the easier way out is enough to
assure individuals that they re making a positive choice.

Summary OfThe Haunted Palace By Edgar Allan Poe
Dear Edgar Allan Poe, I feel your poem The Haunted Palace is a very strongly written poem with an
extremely dark twist. Your use of metaphors, symbolism, alliteration, stanzas and rhyme scheme
makes this poem an interesting read. With some language you use, it makes it somewhat hard to read
in some areas but the rhyming helps to understand those words. Throughout most of the poem you use
an ABAB rhyme scheme, along with the use of a slant rhyme. The way you are able spin words makes
a very fun read. The title of this particular poem is a foreshadow of the sinister twist that you are well
known for. In the first few lines, the poem seems to speak about a beautiful palace, which is
uncommon in your works. Such as line three once a fair and stately place . Using words like fair and
stately gives the reader a sense of peace and being at ease. Also with lines nine and ten banners
yellow, glorious, golden, on its roof did float and flow supplies an image of a beautiful palace in the
greenest of valleys (line 1). This puts an image in my mind of a fairy tale esque land. The King or
monarch is introduced in line five, as to which the voice of the person telling the story gives the name
Thought . So now we have the idea of this king and a beautiful palace placed into our minds. To me it
feels even more so as a fairy tale having a powerful King and his beautiful palace. The voice of the
poem gives me a feeling that the King is loved by his people. As with the name

Samuel Gompers Accomplishments
Samuel Gompers was born on January 27, 1850 in East London. Gompers was sent to a free jewish
school at the age of six. The education was short lived when he started work rolling cigars at ten years
old. In 1863 he and his family moved to a poor area in new york city, where Gompers took up cigar
making once more. From a very young age, Gompers was drawn to the work of small unions for cigar
makers. At just 16 he often spoke out toward employers about unfair treatment and quickly rose to the
top of union 15. Gompers found it hard to compete with with workers who got paid a fee for every
cigar they made, there was also competition with machines that could replace workers. Gompers was
influenced by the passion of the workers around him, despite many unsuccessful strikes. In 1875
Gompers and his friend Adolph Strasser founded the Cigar Makers International Union (CIU). He was

Symbolism In The Vatican Cafe
Vatican Café, an art piece that could be called many things, such as abstracted or a piece of cartoon
characteristics. The oil on canvas painting is made by Jim Demomie in 2014. There is various of
symbolism in this painting, for instance the title its self. Vatican Café, Vatican is the gathering of the
entire bishops of the Roman Catholic Church and Cafe is a small restaurant. This painting has a great
deal of religious symbolism within it. Didacticism to the veiwer, it is to entertain, but to also inform
and instruct at the same time. An example of this would be the Vatican Café. From the first look at this

What draws your attention to him would be the white hue behind his head. Vatican Café is overall a
creative art piece, but with all art peices are ones opinion. How does one perceive an art work? Not
everyone has the same veiw or feelings on one piece or another. A work could have flaws to one
person, but at the same time the flaws could be the perfection to another. As in Vatican Café, the many
colors to this painting could be the final touch to making this complete. Others, ideas could be that the
colors are too many and loses your focus of the main points of the piece. Or that the cartoon
characteristics make the painting look easy and child like. On the other hand, it can give the painting a
simple kind way of showing the worst in a subject. Overall, what formally attracted me to this piece of
art work would have been that it resembles The Last Supper. Not only does it resemble The Last
Supper, but it does it in a humorous way. Although, it looks foolish at first, it has so many meanings
behind it. Jim Denomie nationality is Indian. He said that in the Indian culture, to tell stories to kids
about history we should learn from, they add humor to disguise the harshness. The cartoon
caracteristics add that humor and foolishness, so that the harshness of the content is not to rash. I do
personally like the true meaning behind this piece. Even at first glance you think this painting may be
a joke of some sort. But doing more research on it, you relize the importants

Background Information
From 21 July 2014 it became compulsory to post clinical trial results in the European Clinical Trials
Database (EudraCT) which is managed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and it is essential
for clinical study information to be made more reachable and accessible. By saying Clinical Trial the
agencies are referring to any trials on new drugs that are in preparation for a regulatory submission,
drugs, devices or procedures on any medical interventions and any other investigations that involves

This also avoids excessive research and expands the accessible evidence on an intervention.
Four sets of information are needed:
Whether the trial has actually happened, which means it is necessary for the trial to be registered.
Information such as the study protocol, analysis plan and possible completion date of the trial could be
registered before the trial starts. This means the final result could be checked against the protocol and
would be easier to find out about any non published trials.
Summary of the method and results brief summary and result for every trial that was conducted.
Clinical Study Reports (CSR) to see whether there were any amendments to the protocol during the
course of the trial, which could mean that somebody has noticed something in the result and they want
to change the analysis in a way that is more flattering. Often information on adverse events is very
incompletely reported in journal articles but much more completed in CSR.
Clinical Study Report (CSR) is a lengthy and comprehensive document that gives information in
regards with the methods and results of a clinical trial. This document is submitted to regulatory by a
company who is looking for approval to market a novel drug . It is a source that addresses efficacy and
safety.

Moral Story Of Cinderella
Many times, people dream of being the protagonists of a Disney movie and thus live in a fantasy
world where they are happy forever. It is easy to create the illusion that in the world of princesses
everything is perfect and beautiful. In fact, behind these stories hides a reproduction of the purest and
harsh truth of the real life in which we live, where events they are not isolated, and they all have a
direct impact on people s lives and change them either positively or negatively. So, are these fairy
tales true stories of happiness?
The film Cinderella tells the story of a lovely girl with a very pure heart who had everything in life.
She was pleased, had a beautiful family, a house, and goods, and most importantly, much love.
Although her family possessed some riches, she was raised in an environment of kindness, kindness,
compassion, and love for the animals she considered her friends, especially the little mice. When his
mother dies, her father marries a kind woman with two daughters and a cat, or at least that was what
he thought about his new wife, whom Cinderella warmly receives at home. Cinderella s stepmother
pretended all along to be an adorable housewife capable not only of being a good mother to her own
daughters but to the daughter of her husband. Everything changes the day Cinderella s father passed
away. From that moment, the girl begins to be a victim of abuse, mistreatment, and humiliations of her
evil stepmother and her spoiled and jealous stepsisters.

The Value Of Effective Supplement Rules For The American...
In recent years, there have been firm campaigns in support of the value of effective supplement rules
for the American society. The US mainstream media and the public health authority are responsible for
the implementation of such policies. The justifying reason for this approach is the inadequate formal
testing of the safety and efficacy of various products. In fact, this leads to the inadequate consumption
of vitamins, which poses significant threats to public health. However, approval of different
supplements by the FDA is a proper strategy to curb the danger posed to the public. In this case, the
products are safer for use by the citizens (Rosen, 2015).
In the US, politics have taken control of the development and enactment of these policies. As a result,
the business aspect has taken control of the narrative the amount of supplements consumed. Therefore,
people believe that there is a need for specific directives on the use of vitamin supplements. This can
be a great move to improve supplement policies to ensure the safety of the communities (users).
Moreover, some of the food supplements contain constituents, which need a prescription before they
can be safely used. Thus, vitamin regulation is necessary for healthier lives.
Rosen reports that the regulated nutritional supplements are safer than the use of over the counter
drugs. Nevertheless, inadequate vitamin supplements would lead to several health issues. The side
effects associated with under and over consumption

destroy 10,000 plains in 250 miles. He devised the AC (alternating current) system which is used in
most homes today because it was advantageous than direct current system. His transformers help
regulate the AC voltage, it could be stepped up or down and be transmitted over long distances
through thin wires, minimizing power loss across long distances. The direct current system had a lot
of inefficiencies, it could not be transported to long distances due to its inability to step to higher
voltage levels. He also invented electric motors that are used by every house hold. He invented

locations considered (Snowflake Springs and Butte Rock) they were placed in the low risk prey Butte
Rock for the purpose of encouraging the wolves to spread out and create packs. Before and during the
reintroduction project, Oregon State University researchers measured the rate of willow growth along
2.6 miles of the Gallatin River, which ran through Butte Rock and Snowflake Springs. During their
study from 1998 to 2002, the researchers discovered that Snowflake Springs, where the elk were and
no wolves lived, the willow growth dropped from 92% to nothing ( How Wolves Help Willows, 4).

Many scientists now agree that this is the case.
Wolves have been shown time and time again to possess a kind of language made up of growls, yips,
howls, and body language. Humans see them as lesser creatures because we do not understand their
dialect, made up more by body language than by the sounds that they make (though sounds do play a
big part). Could there be even more to these non human animals than we already know? Do wolves
have a religion? Do caribou think human hunters are some kind of angel of death? More research must
be done into the secret lives of animals before these questions can be answered but first we must find a
way to counteract that most pressing environmental issue of the day: extinction. Lest those creatures
we re only beginning to understand vanish, along with whatever language and culture they may
possess beyond our understanding.
The language and culture of animals is not the only thing threatened by extinction. While our own
human race is obviously in no danger of dying out, important aspects of our culture and even our
languages are dying out. Can a language actually become extinct? The moment that no one can speak
the language, and all that is left of it is text (if that), a language is considered to be extinct. There is a
major difference between an extinct language and a dead language (a language no longer spoken as a
main language). There are still people who speak Latin, though it is

My Career As A Counselor
It is going to be hard for me to write about my career because at this moment I am in the middle of
switching them. For the past four years I have felt called to be a counselor. I can understand teenagers,
which is what I wanted my counseling group to be, more than anyone. I felt called to counseling
because I wanted to use my past trials and mistakes to help others. I felt like that was the only way I
would be able to serve God. I felt if I did not stay with my career in counseling that I would be
betraying God because I was not directly showing His light to others through my career. I did not
waiver from that field of study because I was scared. I did not open up myself to every option
available. What I did not realize was that there does not have to be a specific way I show exemplify
God in my life. It never occurred to me that every calling and vocation exemplified God because He
was the one that gave me the ideas! After taking the Strengths Assessment and listening to the lectures
on vocation and calling, I better understand how I am supposed to understand my career.
The first message of the vocation lectures that stuck out to me was the idea of the idolatry of choice. I
completely agree that we, as Christians, sometimes get caught up in the process of decision making.
We should allow God to make our final decisions. I also think, though, that God puts in our hearts
desires and dreams that match up with our strengths. He does not want to stumble around

Regarding the Cosmological Argument
Regarding the Cosmological Argument
The goal of the cosmological argument is to support the claim that God exists as the first cause of the
universe. According to Nagel, the argument runs as following:
(P1) Every event must have a cause.
(P2) If every event must have a cause, event A must have a cause B, which in turn must have a cause
C, and so on.
(P3) There is no end to this backward progression of causes.
(C1) This backward progression of causes will be an infinite series of event.
(P4) An infinite series of events is unintelligible and absurd.
(P5) The existence of the universe does not result from an unintelligible and absurd process.
(P6) The existence of the universe does not result from an infinite series of events.
(C2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If God s existence is not an event, then P1 ( Every event must have a cause ) does not apply to it and it
is not necessary for God s existence to have a cause, even if it is granted that every event is caused.
Thus, Nagel s argument that God s existence must have a cause because every event must have a
cause is not sound.
Although the second part of Nagel s objection, directed towards the response God is self caused, is
reasonable, it contains a small weakness. If God can be self caused, and there is no sufficient reason as
to why only God can cause itself to exist, then it is logical to think that the universe can also be self
caused. The weakness of this argument is the difference between God and the universe. The universe
consists of all events and is inseparable from them. No event in the universe, so far, has been self
caused, thus many components of the universe demands a cause other than themselves. It is difficult to
imagine the universe to be self caused when so many of its components are not. God, on the other
hand, is often thought to exist outside of the universe due to its timelessness. Similar to abstract
objects such as numbers, God does not have a temporal location and its existence is not associated
with any event. To imagine God to be self caused does not involve the same kind of difficulty as
imagining the universe to be self caused, since no part of God demands a cause other than

The Syrian Refugee Crisis Essay
A refugee is defined as an individual who has been forced to leave their country due to political or
religious reasons, or due to threat of war or violence. There were 19.5 million refugees worldwide at
the end of 2014, 14.4 million under the mandate of the United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR), around 2.9 million more than in 2013. The other 5.1 million Palestinian refugees
are registered with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). With the displacement of
so many people, it is difficult to find countries willing to accept all the refugees. There are over 125
different countries that currently host refugees, and with this commitment comes the responsibility of
ensuring these refugees have access to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the efforts of parents to keep traditions alive, children are changing, fighting over food,
clothing and anything of any value. Many children feel like they are prisoners in their host countries.
Many are not allowed to leave their homes due to safety concerns and chores that need to be
completed. Twenty nine percent of Syrian refugees leave their home less than once a week. In many
cases, multiple families are crammed into the same, often one roomed house. People who held jobs,
and often led successful lives now live off of handouts, or by working odd jobs. Many children have
been out of school for over two years, and there is no opportunity to begin school in their host country.
Last year, over 40% of elementary children dropped out of school due to the civil war and resulting
displacement. With no job and no opportunity of education for their children, there is little hope for
those who have fled Syria. Aside from the difficulty of finding a place within a school, many children
are also expected to work and to help provide for their families, as many parents cannot find a job.
Many go to school all day, and then work night shifts at restaurants or factories. Many children are
often exposed to extremely long working hours, dangerous types of work and many are exposed to
illegal activities. Those that do manage to go to school are faced with harsh discrimination, and often
segregation. The parents of Jordanian and Lebanese

Using Accounts To Resolving Conflict
We use accounts to explain a situation by communicating a narrative with others. Accounts are the
verbal descriptions or stories told that tend to be from the past. These accounts can also expand into
future ideas as well. The book states that accounts show ideas are created through communication with
others, and do not merge independently on our own. Accounts start because of assumptions based on
what we create, gather, and follow while using the rules of interation.
Attributions differ from accounts because attributions are more like a formula that has logical
deduction, rather than a narrative, like accounts. We use accounts to explain ourselves during a
moment of conflict; we tend to believe that our narrative is our truth , but not necessarily the truth . It
is in its essence an explanation of your viewpoint of your role in any given situation. We use these
accounts to explain either past events or to try to predict future outcomes of events. These accounts, as
stated are not necessarily the truth however they are used to help get a better picture of the truth to try
to resolve conflict. Getting the accounts of everyone that was involved in an event or a conflict can
help discover how each person perceived a conflict and what the necessary steps are to try to resolve
it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Opposition Of Dalai Lama
Introduction
This paper analysis the arguments of Dalai Lama. He is one of the proponents of pluralism in religion.
He has a supremely forbearing view of other faiths. Many consider him as a person who encourages
love and compassion in humanity. Many believe that Dalai Lama promoted pluralism rather than
Buddhism as the best faith. Many believe that Dalai Lama is the only Tibetan who celebrates actively
the great diversity that different faiths provide. Despite the fact that many tend to consider Dalai Lama
as a pluralist, this work will argue that Dalai Lama was a Buddhist and that like any other Buddhists;
he values his religion more than other religions. The analysis would be based on thesis statement that
despite the fact that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that he really wanted all people, irrespective of their systems to show love and compassion
rather to engage in divisive religious doctrines. He also considers it wrong to try to change people.
This is because converting people may enable one only succeed in weakening faith but may not
manage to convince them of validity of the new one. Because of this, Lama believe that
compassionate practice can enable both the practitioners and those around them to be more loving and
more content. Because of this, he claims that all religions can enhance compassion. According to him,
if people follow their own faiths as sincerely and truthfully as possible, they would surely become
compassionate and loving as possible.
Another objection that may show that Lama was not a monoist is that the interview shows that he
perceives all religions as being concerned with the disciplining the mind and enhancing peace,
morality and ethics.
In addition, the interview shows that Lama believes that love and compassion, which is the goal of any
religious system, have the same goals or purpose irrespective of the religion. For example, when a
Buddhist has love, the same love would be the same as the love a Christian have. So if all people have
love, then there will be no distinction between Buddhism and Christianity and that all will be one.
Another objection that Lama could be a monoist rather than a

Globalization Is A Good Or Bad Thing Essay
The question people are asking themselves is whether globalization is a good or bad thing. For many
years, there have been concerns about whether globalization has an impact on language. How exactly
can it affect a person, and if it does in what ways? What if nobody is able to understand you?
Immigrants find themselves in this situation quite often; this phenomenon is called linguistic isolation,
and argues against globalization and how it leads to the extinction of indigenous languages and
beliefs. While other people view globalization as an easier way to communicate, evolutioniza, and a
technique for everyone to unite and helps bring us closer together. Globalization can be seen to
support and strengthen communication between millions who have completely different cultures.
Globalization aids us by being able to assist us in communicating across different cultures. There has
been an increase debate on how language defines our cultural self. Globalization is eagerly increasing
in today s world quite rapidly taking a toll effect in dialects. This increase in globalization has many
effects on language, both positive and negative. Globalization is affecting language in which it is
causing it to become endangered because many people seem to be distressed in society and the native
language population is decreasing. People are coming to the realization that the Native language is
becoming lost to globalization, because there is a lack of cultural distinctiveness. In the article,

Poetry Analysis Of Poetry
Poetry Analysis Noemi Leibman Poetry can often reveal someone s true feelings about a subject, and
is a way to release one s deepest emotions. It commonly describes important messages and universal
themes through a variety of figurative poetic devices. One such theme is the idea of panic taking over
ordinary everyday life. For example, Margaret Atwood in The City Planners, Richard Silken in
Wishbone, and Sylvia Plath in Lesbos all convey this unifying idea. Although Plath describes an inner
turmoil, Siken a panicked and conflicted relationship, and Atwood a hysteria arising from oppressive
control, all of the pieces can be related back to this common thread. Authors such as Atwood, Plath,
and Silken can use a variety of techniques including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Margaret Atwood, for example, uses multiple metaphors when discussing the town in her piece,
describing how the driveways neatly / sidestep hysteria and how the windows seem to have a too fixed
stare . Though she is talking about perfectly ordinary facets of everyday life driveways, windows,
plastic hoses she manages to imbue them with creepy, sinister qualities through her metaphorical
language. Her use of personification gives the objects a mind of their own, highlighting how
unpredictable and dangerous life is in the neighborhood. It seems that madness is a constant in
Atwood s idea of suburbia. Metaphors are also present in Sylvia Plath s poem Lesbos. While
describing one of her children, she writes, The baby smiles, fat snail, / From the polished lozenges of
orange linoleum. The poem is primarily about her own inner battle her mental illness getting in the
way of her family life. Her comparison of her own child to a fat snail creates an extremely negative
connotation the boy is being cast as slow and sleazy, an unwelcome presence. The poem is a release of
panicked emotions, and the metaphors present certainly mirror that. Finally, Richard Silken is another
author that employs metaphors skillfully in his work. His poem Wishbone uses many extended
metaphors. For instance, he writes, I say I want you inside me / and you split me open with a knife. I
m battling monsters, half monkey, half tarantula, / I m pulling you out of burning buildings and you
say I ll give you anything. / But you never come through. This extended metaphor refers to the
narrator s fruitless struggles to get Henry to reciprocate his feelings. Henry splitting the narrator open
with a knife refers to Siken s hurt over Henry s obvious disgust at any hint of affection and at
homosexuality as a whole. Additionally, Silken s description of all the impossible feats he partakes in
to keep Henry s friendship conveys his tiredness at

Time Blocking Method
Utilize the Methodology of Time Blocking
Multitasking has been proven to be ineffective when it comes to efficiency. People think that they are
able to get more done by trying to tackle everything at once, but in reality, you re pulling yourself in
too many directions at once. Eliminate this effect of being pulled like taffy by developing your own
time blocking method. There are a few things that you need to consider when it comes to creating time
blocks for your schedule. As a physician, you probably have already started using time blocking
method as the way to handle patients, but you can put this method to work for you for your entire
schedule.
Determine Your Priorities
The first thing that you need to do is determine what priority level each of your tasks happen to be at
for you. This means that you need to decide what priorities are topping your charts. Then, you re able
to block time out for these particular tasks. You should be able to focus on getting your number one
priority completed without any other distractions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s time to change the way that you think about scheduling your blocks of time. It can be helpful to
start thinking about the events that happen in your day and what you need to accomplish. Try to
schedule your time around the things that are happening in your day, and what tasks are necessary to
handle in a particular day. This will make it easier to block off your time to help you minimize those
distractions that can occur. For instance, if you know that you ll have an important call or appointment
during the day, you ll want to start either far enough in advance that you won t have to pause what you
re doing to take care of that event, or wait until afterwards to schedule this

San Francisco Gentrification Essay
In San Francisco, around 48% of the Latino communities are involuntarily moving out of the city
because they can no longer afford living in their neighborhood. This is due to the increase of
something called gentrification. Gentrification is when buildings renovated to create more urban
looking neighborhoods by wealthy people, which lead to a mass influx of a more affluent society. The
purpose of this research paper is to explain the reasons why gentrification occurs and answer the
question: How is the gentrification of San Francisco diminishing the culture of other races and how is
it affecting the minorities of the city?

How Did Aristotle Contribute To Logic
Noah Wright
Professor Bruno
Intro to Logic
16 September 2017
Aristotle and Gottlob Frege
Throughout the history of human civilization, logic has played an important role in the development
of thought and the innovation of new technological discoveries. Without logic, there would be no
reasonable or coherent way of thinking. Furthermore, there would be no person capable of coding a
program today. Two important logicians who have contributed a great amount to the study of logic are
Aristotle and Gottlob Frege. Aristotle is one of the many great ancient Greek philosophers who are
mentioned throughout many textbooks. He was a student of the Plato (Aristocles) and a teacher to
Alexander the Great. He has contributed to the studies of science, philosophy, and logic. Although he
may have made vital contributions to the study of logic, his ideals have been reversed or significantly
dispelled by the ideology of modern logic. Two men who showed the limitations of Aristotle s logic
are Gottlob Frege and Bertrand Russell. His contributions to logic vary in many different sections of
the study. However, one of his most significant contributions is the notion of syllogisms. One of
Aristotle s contributions that is heavily taught in logic classes today is syllogisms. Syllogism, in
layman s terms, is an argument with two premises and a conclusion. It is valid and deductive,
basically meaning that it started out as a generalization but condensed to a specification of an idea. To

Sacrifice In The Kite Runner
Sacrifice (and issues related to it) have been an inherent part of literature from the beginning. The
intense connection between destruction and creation raises questions about the human capability for
violence and love in equal measure and seemingly violates the natural human instinct for survival.
This has solidified its place as an object of fascination and scrutiny for generations. Sacrifice is not
simply a matter of giving up one s life or something equal to it for someone else; oftentimes,
psychological motivations behind sacrifice are very complex. However, in works such as The Kite
Runner, The Color Purple, Cyrano de Bergerac, Saving Private Ryan, The Nightingale and the Rose ,
and I d Give Up My Life For You , the motivations behind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although he is a sensitive and bookish young boy, instances of a mean streak appear throughout the
book. He often takes advantage of Hassan s love for him and uses it to pressure him into committing
acts such as firing walnuts with his slingshot at the neighbor s one eyed German shepherd (4). In one
instance, he goes so far as to tease Hassan into admitting that he would eat dirt if he told him to, and to
confess that he finds teasing him to be something fascinating albeit in a sick way (54), though he
knows it to be cruel. His occasional antagonism towards Hassan stems in part from his jealousy and
his own feelings of inadequacy in regards to the love of his father. Hassan possesses an innate courage
and sense of justice and natural athletic abilities, all traits that Amir lacks and that Baba admires. The
fact that Amir does not stack up to Hassan in the eyes of their father becomes clear during a
conversation that he overhears between Baba and Rahim Khan. Not only does his father not
understand his inclination to spend his days reading and writing, he also looks down upon Amir s
inability to stand up both for his own self and for others and tendency to let Hassan fight his battles for
him. He states unequivocally that A boy who won t stand up for himself becomes a man who can t

inadequacy, and an

  • 2. Discuss Strategies That Aid In Reading Comprehension Chapters 6 through 9 discuss strategies that aid in comprehension. These chapters dive deeper into strategies that will help a reader s comprehension while thoroughly explaining strategies that should be implemented in a classroom. One main point is that readers should follow their thinking tracks and explore their thinking and be able to notice when they are straying away from the meaning of the reading. It s important that students are able to make connections while they re reading. Another main point would be that questions help clarify and unlock a deeper meaning while reading. Visualizing and inferring is an important aspect for reading because it helps aid in understanding. Comprehension strategies allow readers to know a variety of tools that are beneficial. An inner conversation develops when readers are aware of their own thoughts and are able to connect their thoughts to the text. Reading comprehension is an ongoing process of evolving thinking. This idea stood out to me because I think it s important to emphasis the aspect of it being an ongoing process. Students should be taught ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea stood out to me because it s important for readers to connect what they already know to what they are reading. Background knowledge helps students connect with the text. It also helps them make comparisons and develop a better understanding. When a reader already has the knowledge about a subject then they are able to create a bridge to what they are reading. This connection will help them understand the text and aid in their comprehension. I think background knowledge is beneficial for students because they can create self to text, text to text, and text to world connections. • 3. Teaching Styles For Student Understanding And Creative... Much like teaching styles adaptability, teachers must accommodate and adapt their teaching to ensure student understanding and creative thought. Through tactical teaching styles that adapted and fitted the students, students were able to understand and learn to the best of their abilities when taught by Mrs. Graham and her colleagues. Needing diverse styles to appeal to them, students need teachers to create creative and interactive ways to make the lessons seem interesting and relatable in their lives. Even at the early beginnings of the school day, the Mount Olive Middle School students seemed interested with majority of the students staying engaged for the entirety of the lesson. They showed their interest and comfortableness in the classroom by asking questions that related to the topic that interested them or in some cases, confused them. They were able to express their ideas, and Mrs. Graham would expand based on what the students answered to explain further the topics of discussion. Due to these previously established inviting environments, students felt secure and comfortable enough to share their thoughts inside the different classrooms. During the time in the classes where the students were able to unleash their creative sides and participate in the class, they really seemed excited to learn during my observations. Especially during their scary story narratives, the students really responded well to be able to come up with their own stories and discuss writing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Postpartum Depression Ultimately, Charlotte Perkins Gilman incorporates her own personal experiences with postpartum depression into a narrative which shows broad implications of women, how society portrays and treats them in many ways and how those women respond to those treatments. The injustice in society between gender is shown through the relationship between the narrator and John, her husband. In the story, John never once called her by her name, sometimes a blessed little goose or some other animal name, like an adult looking down at a minority. This is a discrimination towards women and clearly represents how unfairly women were treated during those times. They were looked down upon, treated as below human, equalling animals. John expects nothing more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first she only wishes to be normal, saying mere ordinary people like John and myself . She goes mad because her role in society is limited and her ability to express herself is constricted. The wallpaper symbolises her imprisonment and the domestic life that traps so many women in the late nineteenth century. Yellow usually symbolises happiness, but ironically, in this narrative the narrator is being trapped and driven mad by the color. She only sees a repellent, almost revolting color; a smoldering yellow, strangely faded by the slow turning sunlight. Eventually, she sees patterns which come into focus as a desperate woman, constantly crawling and stooping, looking for an escape from the main pattern which resemble the bars of a cage. The narrator sees herself behind the wallpaper, realising for the first time what her status is. Like all other women during the late nineteenth century, she wishes to break free from this sort of environment where women are considered to be nothing more than housewives. At that time in society, women were expected to live their life bound at home, taking care of cooking, houseworks and raising children. Free time for women was meant for them to be sewing and doing the laundry instead of socializing in society. Many women began to protest, some became vocal participants of women s rights movement. • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Gerrymandered States Gerrymandering, the process where politicians get to choose their voters. Say there is a state with a population of fifty, now three fifths of that state are democratic and the other two fifths are republican, now we need to separate this state into five congressional districts. The best way to do this would be so there are two republican representatives and three democratic. However with gerrymandering democrats can draw districts that are unfair and they get all five representatives, but if republicans draw the districts they can draw them were there are three republican representatives and only two democratic representatives. This process is seen through many states. In North Carolina forty four percent of voters voted democratic, however thanks to a creative congressional map, seventy seven percent of representatives were republican. The twelfth district in North Carolina is considered the most gerrymandered district in the country, and is home to two more of the top ten gerrymandered districts. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Fast Food The topic of fast food consumption is one that is quite controversial between those that choose to indulge and others who choose to make healthier food choices. Fast food corporations typically offer their customers readily made food options or pre cooked meals. Some of the largest and most successful fast food chains in America include, McDonalds, Starbucks, Burger King, Wendy s and Chick Fil a. All of which are just some of the many billion dollar companies. If these companies are worth billions, it s evident that consumers are spending plenty of money within these businesses. Despite always hearing about how unhealthy fast food is, our society chooses to consume it regardless, which leaves us to wonder why would anyone want to put something into their body that could potentially harm them? Yet, a fast food consumer could also argue the same about someone who chooses to to smoke or drink alcohol. The power of persuasion easily influences consumers to purchase things that aren t in their best interest health wise. Therefore, many brands and companies utilize different marketing strategies in order to convince consumers to buy, without quite indicating the effects of your purchase. In addition, most consumers also succumb to purchasing fast food simply because it s convenient for their lifestyle. Sometimes the easier way out is enough to assure individuals that they re making a positive choice. Marketing: Marketing your product is the most straightforward way to ... • 10. Summary OfThe Haunted Palace By Edgar Allan Poe Dear Edgar Allan Poe, I feel your poem The Haunted Palace is a very strongly written poem with an extremely dark twist. Your use of metaphors, symbolism, alliteration, stanzas and rhyme scheme makes this poem an interesting read. With some language you use, it makes it somewhat hard to read in some areas but the rhyming helps to understand those words. Throughout most of the poem you use an ABAB rhyme scheme, along with the use of a slant rhyme. The way you are able spin words makes a very fun read. The title of this particular poem is a foreshadow of the sinister twist that you are well known for. In the first few lines, the poem seems to speak about a beautiful palace, which is uncommon in your works. Such as line three once a fair and stately place . Using words like fair and stately gives the reader a sense of peace and being at ease. Also with lines nine and ten banners yellow, glorious, golden, on its roof did float and flow supplies an image of a beautiful palace in the greenest of valleys (line 1). This puts an image in my mind of a fairy tale esque land. The King or monarch is introduced in line five, as to which the voice of the person telling the story gives the name Thought . So now we have the idea of this king and a beautiful palace placed into our minds. To me it feels even more so as a fairy tale having a powerful King and his beautiful palace. The voice of the poem gives me a feeling that the King is loved by his people. As with the name ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Samuel Gompers Accomplishments Samuel Gompers was born on January 27, 1850 in East London. Gompers was sent to a free jewish school at the age of six. The education was short lived when he started work rolling cigars at ten years old. In 1863 he and his family moved to a poor area in new york city, where Gompers took up cigar making once more. From a very young age, Gompers was drawn to the work of small unions for cigar makers. At just 16 he often spoke out toward employers about unfair treatment and quickly rose to the top of union 15. Gompers found it hard to compete with with workers who got paid a fee for every cigar they made, there was also competition with machines that could replace workers. Gompers was influenced by the passion of the workers around him, despite many unsuccessful strikes. In 1875 Gompers and his friend Adolph Strasser founded the Cigar Makers International Union (CIU). The oil on canvas painting is made by Jim Demomie in 2014. There is various of symbolism in this painting, for instance the title its self. Vatican CafĂ©, Vatican is the gathering of the entire bishops of the Roman Catholic Church and Cafe is a small restaurant. This painting has a great deal of religious symbolism within it. Didacticism to the veiwer, it is to entertain, but to also inform and instruct at the same time. An example of this would be the Vatican CafĂ©. What draws your attention to him would be the white hue behind his head. Vatican CafĂ© is overall a creative art piece, but with all art peices are ones opinion. How does one perceive an art work? Not everyone has the same veiw or feelings on one piece or another. A work could have flaws to one person, but at the same time the flaws could be the perfection to another. As in Vatican CafĂ©, the many colors to this painting could be the final touch to making this complete. Others, ideas could be that the colors are too many and loses your focus of the main points of the piece. Or that the cartoon characteristics make the painting look easy and child like. On the other hand, it can give the painting a simple kind way of showing the worst in a subject. Overall, what formally attracted me to this piece of art work would have been that it resembles The Last Supper. Not only does it resemble The Last Supper, but it does it in a humorous way. Although, it looks foolish at first, it has so many meanings behind it. Jim Denomie nationality is Indian. He said that in the Indian culture, to tell stories to kids about history we should learn from, they add humor to disguise the harshness. • 18. The Value Of Effective Supplement Rules For The American... In recent years, there have been firm campaigns in support of the value of effective supplement rules for the American society. The US mainstream media and the public health authority are responsible for the implementation of such policies. The justifying reason for this approach is the inadequate formal testing of the safety and efficacy of various products. In fact, this leads to the inadequate consumption of vitamins, which poses significant threats to public health. However, approval of different supplements by the FDA is a proper strategy to curb the danger posed to the public. In this case, the products are safer for use by the citizens (Rosen, 2015). In the US, politics have taken control of the development and enactment of these policies. As a result, the business aspect has taken control of the narrative the amount of supplements consumed. Therefore, people believe that there is a need for specific directives on the use of vitamin supplements. This can be a great move to improve supplement policies to ensure the safety of the communities (users). Moreover, some of the food supplements contain constituents, which need a prescription before they can be safely used. Thus, vitamin regulation is necessary for healthier lives. I felt called to counseling because I wanted to use my past trials and mistakes to help others. I felt like that was the only way I would be able to serve God. • 23. Regarding the Cosmological Argument Regarding the Cosmological Argument The goal of the cosmological argument is to support the claim that God exists as the first cause of the universe. According to Nagel, the argument runs as following: (P1) Every event must have a cause. (P2) If every event must have a cause, event A must have a cause B, which in turn must have a cause C, and so on. If God s existence is not an event, then P1 ( Every event must have a cause ) does not apply to it and it is not necessary for God s existence to have a cause, even if it is granted that every event is caused. Thus, Nagel s argument that God s existence must have a cause because every event must have a cause is not sound. Although the second part of Nagel s objection, directed towards the response God is self caused, is reasonable, it contains a small weakness. If God can be self caused, and there is no sufficient reason as to why only God can cause itself to exist, then it is logical to think that the universe can also be self caused. The weakness of this argument is the difference between God and the universe. The universe consists of all events and is inseparable from them. No event in the universe, so far, has been self caused, thus many components of the universe demands a cause other than themselves. It is difficult to imagine the universe to be self caused when so many of its components are not. God, on the other hand, is often thought to exist outside of the universe due to its timelessness. Similar to abstract objects such as numbers, God does not have a temporal location and its existence is not associated with any event. To imagine God to be self caused does not involve the same kind of difficulty as imagining the universe to be self caused, since no part of God demands a cause other than ... Accounts are the verbal descriptions or stories told that tend to be from the past. These accounts can also expand into future ideas as well. The book states that accounts show ideas are created through communication with others, and do not merge independently on our own. Accounts start because of assumptions based on what we create, gather, and follow while using the rules of interation. Attributions differ from accounts because attributions are more like a formula that has logical deduction, rather than a narrative, like accounts. We use accounts to explain ourselves during a moment of conflict; we tend to believe that our narrative is our truth , but not necessarily the truth . It is in its essence an explanation of your viewpoint of your role in any given situation. We use these accounts to explain either past events or to try to predict future outcomes of events. It commonly describes important messages and universal themes through a variety of figurative poetic devices. One such theme is the idea of panic taking over ordinary everyday life. For example, Margaret Atwood in The City Planners, Richard Silken in Wishbone, and Sylvia Plath in Lesbos all convey this unifying idea. Although Plath describes an inner turmoil, Siken a panicked and conflicted relationship, and Atwood a hysteria arising from oppressive control, all of the pieces can be related back to this common thread. Though she is talking about perfectly ordinary facets of everyday life driveways, windows, plastic hoses she manages to imbue them with creepy, sinister qualities through her metaphorical language. Her use of personification gives the objects a mind of their own, highlighting how unpredictable and dangerous life is in the neighborhood. It seems that madness is a constant in Atwood s idea of suburbia. Metaphors are also present in Sylvia Plath s poem Lesbos. While describing one of her children, she writes, The baby smiles, fat snail, / From the polished lozenges of orange linoleum. The poem is primarily about her own inner battle her mental illness getting in the way of her family life. Her comparison of her own child to a fat snail creates an extremely negative connotation the boy is being cast as slow and sleazy, an unwelcome presence. The poem is a release of panicked emotions, and the metaphors present certainly mirror that. Finally, Richard Silken is another author that employs metaphors skillfully in his work. His poem Wishbone uses many extended metaphors. For instance, he writes, I say I want you inside me / and you split me open with a knife. I m battling monsters, half monkey, half tarantula, / I m pulling you out of burning buildings and you say I ll give you anything. / But you never come through. • 31. How Did Aristotle Contribute To Logic Noah Wright Professor Bruno Intro to Logic 16 September 2017 Aristotle and Gottlob Frege Throughout the history of human civilization, logic has played an important role in the development of thought and the innovation of new technological discoveries. Without logic, there would be no reasonable or coherent way of thinking. Furthermore, there would be no person capable of coding a program today. Two important logicians who have contributed a great amount to the study of logic are Aristotle and Gottlob Frege. Aristotle is one of the many great ancient Greek philosophers who are mentioned throughout many textbooks. He was a student of the Plato (Aristocles) and a teacher to Alexander the Great. He has contributed to the studies of science, philosophy, and logic. Although he may have made vital contributions to the study of logic, his ideals have been reversed or significantly dispelled by the ideology of modern logic. Two men who showed the limitations of Aristotle s logic are Gottlob Frege and Bertrand Russell. His contributions to logic vary in many different sections of the study. However, one of his most significant contributions is the notion of syllogisms. One of Aristotle s contributions that is heavily taught in logic classes today is syllogisms.
