WHAT IS WORK
IMMERSION?
WORK IMMERSION refers to the
subject of the SHS Curriculum
which involves hands-on
experience or work simulation in
which learners can apply their
competencies and acquired
knowledge relevant to their track.
2. WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES OF WORK IMMERSION
PROGRAM?
a. Gain a relevant and practical industrial skills under the
guidance of industry experts and workers;
b. Appreciate the importance and application of principles and
theories taught in school;
c. Enhance their technical knowledge and skills;
d. Enrich their skills in communication and human relations; and
e. Develop good work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and
respect for work.
3. IS IT ESSENTIAL OR NEEDED?
Work Immersion is a requirement for
graduation, so students under the K to 12
program must undergo this.
4. ARE THE STUDENTS CONSIDERED TOO
YOUNG TO EXPOSE IN THE WORKPLACE?
There has been a notion that companies are
not allowed to engage to youth below 18
years old; however, article 130 of the Philippine
Labor Code actually sets the minimum
employable age at 15 years old.
In fact, there is also provision in the Labor Cod
(Art. 57-61) allowing for the employment of
“apprentices” in highly technical trades as long
as he/she is at least 14 years old.

The minimum requirement for Work
Immersion is eighty (80) hours or 10 days.
7. DO THE LEARNERS HAVE TO BE
PHYSICALLY FIT BEFORE DEPLOYMENT?
It is necessary that learners have to be
physically fit hence some of the
undertakings physical, emotional, spiritual
challenges in the workplace.
8. WHAT HAPPENS TO OUR STUDENTS
AFTER COMPLETING THE REQUIRED
NUMBER OF HOURS IN THE WORK
IMMERSION?
They will continue the remaining subjects for
their course and they will also start crafting
their WORK IMMERSION PORTFOLIO .
9. WHAT IS NEEDED IN ORDER TO HAVE A
SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE
PROGRAM?
The success of this program will depend on
the strong collaboration, support, and
commitment of the school personnel,
immersion partner, parents and students.
