Nikola Tesla proposed wireless power transmission in 1899 using a radiative method that wasted much of the power. In 2007, six MIT scientists were able to transmit power to a light bulb within 2 meters at 9.9 MHz using a nonradiative mutual induction method. Witricity works through mutual induction and has applications for consumer electronics, industries, transportation, military uses, and medical devices.
