Build & test once, deploy anywhere - Vday.hu 2016Zsolt Molnar
This talk is about a packaging workflow for custom-made linux applications that can help us to get rid of heavy and error-prone installation guides. Why couldn't those applications become as easy to install and upgrade as any mobile app on a smartphone? After ellaborating the problem space Zsolt is going to show how can we build application packages to any production platform on every git commit in a predictable and easy manner. The aim is to test your application/business with all dependencies only once and then wrap the verified code into multiple deployment format can be consumed directy without any major installation process. This is going to be a demo-heavy presentation touching automation tools like: vagrant, packer, saltstack, docker, jenkins, cloudformation/terraform. The challenge is to build docker packages, OVA/OVF bundles and AWS AMI images from a relatively simple application within 30 minutes.

WinConnections Spring, 2011 - Deploying Windows 7 without the Ridiculous Micr...Concentrated Technology
Greg Shields may be most known for his books, magazine articles, and conference sessions. But he started his career deploying thousands of computers from a basement of a building with no windows. His passion for deploying Windows is fed by his desire to automate everything. You can do that with Microsoft’s free tools. But while the tools are fantastic, their alphabet soup of acronyms is confusing and their documentation isn’t much better. Learn Greg’s Seven Simple Steps in 75 minutes or less, and leave with a framework for automating everything in Windows 7 deployment.
Java is a programming language. It was first developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems, which is now a part of Oracle Corporation. It was released in 1995 as a part of Sun Microsystems' Java platform. The language has developed much of its syntax from C and C++.
TDF Professional Conf 2010 - Rapid Windows 7 Deploymentsjimboks
Introduction to using the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 (MDT, formerly Business Desktop Deployment) for imaging of desktops and rapid upgrades and deployments of Windows 7.
Your Windows 7 testing is over and it’s time for rapid deployment! Yet while you’re excited about delivering Windows 7 to users, you might still remember your last upgrade. Deploying Ghost images might have been easy back then, but it wasn’t very flexible. What you want is deployment from a single image, where every computer starts from one golden master. You also want better naming, giving each computer the correct name automatically. Most importantly, you want the process automated so you’re not sitting around waiting to click buttons. You can have all this and more with Microsoft’s free Windows Deployment Services.
Microsoft MVP Greg Shields has been rapidly deploying Windows computers for over a decade. In this session full of tips and tricks, bring your laptop and get HANDS-ON with Windows Deployment Services. You’ll learn the secret tricks for creating that single image that installs everywhere. You’ll find WDS’ hidden solution for automatic naming. You’ll learn the tricks you absolutely must know to automate Windows installation. And you’ll leave with a functioning deployment solution you can take home to begin deploying immediately.
Are you’re ready for Windows deployment, but not ready for the learning curve? Save yourself weeks of time and join this must-see HANDS-ON session. You’ll walk away with exactly what you need to start rapidly deploying Windows 7 the moment you return home.
A gentle introduction to Mac OS X.
A manual for beginners with some todo tasks at the end.
I've done it for a school presentation while in Erasmus at Poland (Technical University of Lodz), and I hope you find it useful :)

Wine is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat, Suse, Debian etc.), OS X, Solaris and Free BSD. Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator Wine translates and converts API calls from the original Win Exe!

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

12. DARWINE
Mac OS X port of the famous WINE (WINE Is Not an Emulator) project for
Linux
Provides substitute Windows DLL files and processes instead of the
Windows NT kernel
Windows API is implemented entirely in user-space
Took 15 years to reach 1.0 status (in May of 2008) because the Windows
APIs were poorly documented by Microsoft
13. CROSSOVER FOR MAC
CodeWeavers: corporate sponsorship for the WINE project (many WINE
developers work on the CrossOver team)
Commercial, polished version of WINE (think of it as a WINE fundraiser with
a much more friendly user interface)

Free, provided you legally have a full copy of Windows to use
Requires your Mac to be running (at least) Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard”
Supports Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, Windows 7
Apple has full driver support on Mac OS X Install DVD
Best for if you don’t want to compromise speed, or if you want to run
more modern video games
16. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Frequently Asked Questions, other software to note
17. SHARING FILES?
Virtualization
Most apps allow you to drag & drop files from Mac OS to Windows & Linux
VMs (Parallels won’t allow it in Linux yet)
API Wrapping
No need for transferring of files; API-wrapped files will access your files
normally
Boot Camp
Additional software needed (MacFUSE & NTFS-3G for Mac, or MacDrive for
Windows)
18. VIRUSES? SPYWARE? IS MY MAC AT RISK?
Short answer: no
Long answer: if you’re not API wrapping, then INSTALL ANTI-VIRUS and
ANTI-SPYWARE software
Your Windows partition/virtual machine is running Microsoft code and
thus susceptible to viruses and spyware like always
Your Mac partition should be okay unless you have a virus that likes to
delete files in Boot Camp (and has MacDrive installed)
Virtual machines (with snapshots) can always be rolled back to a safe state
19. WOULDN’T API WRAPPING BE THE BEST WAY?
Not necessarily
Not all programs work; very popular ones are maintained and “tweaked” to
work with WINE
Some programs can’t be wrapped due to the way they access the APIs
API wrapping does work best with some games, though; try it out yourself
20. SO WHAT IS THE BEST WAY?
Use a combination and tailor it to your needs
Boot Camp with virtualization
API wrapping with Boot Camp
Virtualization with API wrapping
Or, drop a lot of money and use all three
