ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
• At the onset ,we would like to start by
thanking our subject teacher Ms. Narinder
Kaur. She has always been so co-operative.
Without her co-operation, the activity could
not have been possible.
• Next we would like to thank our friends
for their suggestions which helped us a lot in
carrying out this activity.
•THANKING OUR DEAR CREW AND THEIR
CO-OPERATION.
INTRODUCTION TO WILDLIFE
o Wildlife traditionally refers to
, but has come to include all
and other which grow or live wild in an
area without being introduced by .
o Domesticating wild plant and animal species for human
benefit has occurred many times all over the planet, and
has a major impact on the environment, both positive and
negative.
o Wildlife can be found in all . Deserts,
forests, rain forests, plains, grasslands, and other areas
including the most developed sites, all have distinct
forms of wildlife.
o While the term in popular culture usually refers to
animals that are untouched by human factors, most
scientists agree that wildlife around is affected by human
activities.
BENEFITS OF WILDLIFE
It is also home
to the Striped
Hyena,
Macaques,
Langurs and
Mongoose
species.
However, the
dhole, also known
as the whistling
hunter, is the most
endangered top
Indian carnivore,
and the
Himalayan Wolf is
now a critically
endangered
species endemic
to India.
Some members of
the dog family,
such as the Indian
Wolf, Bengal Fox
and Golden
Jackal, and the
Dhole or Wild
Dogs are also
widely distributed.
Some other well-
known large Indian
mammals are:
ungulates such as
the rare Wild Asian
Water buffalo,
common Domestic
Asian Water
buffalo, Nilgai,
Gaur, and several
species of deer
and antelope.
India is home to
several well-known
large mammals,
including the Asian
Elephant, Bengal
Tiger, Asiatic Lion,
Leopard, Sloth Bear
and Indian
Rhinoceros, often
engrained culturally
and religiously, often
being associated
with deities.
Threats to wildlife
Wildlife everywhere on the earth is under threat of extinction
and struggling hard for survival.
1. Habitat loss :
 Population growth, fast industrialisation , urbanisation and modernisation have all
contributed to a large-scale destruction of natural habitat of plants and animals.
2. Pollution:
 Air, water, soil and noise pollution of the magnitude and toxicity never seen before
is the major factor.
 Natural habitats have been destroyed or damaged by activities such as the
indiscriminate use of synthetic materials, release of radiations and oil spills in the
sea, generation of effluents and wastes of various kinds and toxicity, and their
unscientific disposal.
3. Indiscriminate hunting:
 Indiscriminate killing and poaching of wild animals for food, horn, fur, tusk etc. has resulted
in reduction and even extinction of many wild species.
4. Introduction of exotic species:
 Many native species have known to disappear and their existence is under threat
because of the introduction of exotic and alien species.
Meaning of wildlife conservation
 Wildlife:
National parks
 A national park is protected area of land in which a
typical ecosystem with all its wild plants and animals
are protected and preserved in natural surroundings.
OUR AMAZING WILDLIFE
It’s mind-blowing to think about the multitude of animals that exist in
this world. From the tiny flea to the great blue whale, each animal
possesses a unique quality that makes it stand out from the rest. Even if
you’re a zoology expert, you might be surprised by some of these
amazing facts about animals. Prepare to be astounded by the resilience,
physical abilities, and sheer brilliance of these magnificent creatures.
FACTS ON
WILDLIFE
Squirrels plant
thousands of
new trees each
year simply by
forgetting
where they put
their acorns.
Macaques in
Japan use
coins to buy
vending
machine
snacks.
