Why Do People Hate The Aztecs
In the 1400 the aztecs were being formed by different areas of towns. When it was formed in the
1430s they have adapted a power system where the king was at the top and the nobles were
underneath the king. In work different people had different items to do. A priest at the time would
bring order to the universe and its gods. A belief was within the priest that they thought that you
have to sacrifice people for in order for the gods to be pleased. When the aztecs were expanding to
different territories they would take supplies, food and people to sacrifice for their gods. This had
made different groups to hate the aztecs and when cortes came he decided to use them for his
advantage to overthrow the aztecs. Near the aztecs were the incas which

Why Do People Do Volunteer Work
HRPYC81 PROJECT 4809 Assignment 2 What motivates people to do volunteer work? MJ
SCRIVEN TABLE OF CONTENTS LITERATURE REVIEW There are almost as many reasons for
getting involved in volunteer work as there are volunteers. Once people get started, they find that
their deepest rewards are ones they didn't expect when they first came looking for a volunteer
assignment. Participants entered the volunteer world through ads in the paper, articles in the media
and invitations by friends. They wanted to get involved in a new community, they overheard
someone talking about a need or they just wanted to be active. Some wanted to repay a perceived
debt to society and others took up volunteer work as part of a major reassessment of ... Show more

In the field of psychology, the functional approach to understanding altruism is the predominant one.
Central to this approach is that people engage in various activities for purposeful, goal–oriented
reasons (Fletcher and Major 2004:110). Related to the functional approach is the Volunteer
Functions Inventory, created by Clary et al. (1998), which is based on the functional approach to
understanding altruism. A functional perspective towards motivations to volunteer is chiefly
concerned with the "why" of volunteerism (Whitt 2006:10). Understanding these reasons for
volunteering, is important and could give us concrete answers as to why people would participate in
long–term volunteering. The issue of sufficient support networks for people in need is very
important. It has a very crucial role to play in the well–being of people. We all need support when
we are going through difficult times and knowing that there is someone there for you, someone who
cares, can make all the difference in the world. RESEARCH RATIONALE This research is being
conducted to investigate volunteer motivation, satisfactions and dissatisfactions. As is stated by
Becsi et al (2008), much of the literature in the social sciences focuses on predicting volunteering
behaviour with underlying theories of resources availability.

Why Do White People Cause Racism?
White people are not racist. Throughout the years of the Civil Rights Movement there have been
many White Civil Rights Activist. Reverend Bruce Klunder was one such man. On April 7, 1964 in
Cleveland, Ohio Klunder joined other Civil Rights activist in a protest that was against the building
of a segregated school. They did this by placing their bodies in front of construction equipment,
knowing that this was dangerous. Klunder unfortunately was ran over by a bulldozer, but this only
made his voice stronger by showing that a White man would give his life for equality.
The white race is judged on the actions of a few individuals, but we are not them. Supreme Court
Justice Hugo Black was born in Harlan, Alabama. Being born in such a area caused ... Show more

It involved Civil rights Activists who rode interstate buses into segregated southern states. They
would come to be known as Freedom Riders. One such Freedom Rider was James Zwerg. On May
20th, a group of Freedom Riders leaves Birmingham, Alabama heading toward Montgomery.
Abandoned by their promised police escort, the riders arrive at Montgomery and are met by a mob
of Ku Klux Klansmen. As soon as Zwerg is the first to step off the Greyhound bus, he is savagely
beaten until unconscious. During this same incident another daring White man, Justice Department
official John Seigenthaler, is also knocked unconscious, this time by a lead pipe, trying to save two
African–American women from the mob. Days later, awoken in the hospital with a bruised face and
a broken body unable to move; Zwerg is quoted at this time saying "Segregation must be stopped. It
must be broken down. Those of us on the Freedom Ride will continue.... We're dedicated to this,
we'll take hitting, we'll take beating. We're willing to accept death. But we're going to keep coming
until we can ride from anywhere in the South to any place else in the South without anybody making

improvement of the lives of African Americans. These two men are not alone. They are joined by
thousands of other Whites for the equal treatment of all

Why Do People Do It?
At some point in our lives, we all have been criticized, perhaps in a positive or professional way or
the opposite a negative way. Often it is difficult to accept, it all depends on our reaction. In this case
you can use the criticism as a method of improvement or in a negative way that can lower your self–
esteem and cause anger, stress, aggression and sadness. There is no one or anything that can stop it.
It has been going on for so long and no one has found a cure to the illness. It is incurable just like
Ebola. It spreads around easily and anyone can catch it. Is it right? Why do people do it? This story

Ms. White was a nice and understanding teacher. She assigned me with three other people, Jeffrey,
Max and Thomas. Max was the first one to address me, and I answered him in Creole. He started to
laugh at me and made fun of me. He started calling me "stupid ", "dirty Haitian", and pushed me
during recess. He asked the others to made fun of me, and everyone in the school made fun of me
behind the teacher's back. I was bullied and was abused; I was unable to express myself since I
spoke no English. I felt humiliated, and I wanted to quit school. Every morning I cried, and was
unable to express my emotions to my parents because I did not want the boys to get in trouble. I was
depressed, sad and lonely. I felt as if I did not belong. I was angry and sad every day, I was bullied
every day. The hurts were engraved in my memories and thoughts. It was the worst feelings ever. I
was feeling this way for the entire school year. The next school year the same things happened,
although I knew a little English it did not change a thing. The boys always denied it and they were
never caught. This was one of the worst feelings ever, being stereotyped, bullied or criticized for no
particular reason. I did not do anything to deserve it nor did the characters from the story. We are all

Why Do Modern Science-Educated People Still Treat Race
Considering all the physical and genetic facts that tell us that there are no biologically–based "races"
in the human species, why do modern, science–educated people still treat "race" as if it comes from
nature, as if it tells us something important about an individual? Scientist still treat is as if it comes
from nature because the skin color of a person can offer insights into a person's geographic ancestry.
Whenever we see someone of color we automatically assume that they are of a certain race, place,
etc... Race is misunderstood and we as a society do not fully comprehend that there is much more to
race than the color of the skin.
Select one of the examples of "life experiences" that illustrates racism (racial profiling, racial
stereotype, racial discrimination) and that you think is perpetuated by some aspect of the
mainstream American culture. Then, explain the connection you see between culture and racism.

I believe that it still exist in our society today because I have witnessed such things with both
children and adults. There are many people that automatically turn to look at a black person in a
weird way because of the reputation they have been given. The things that never changed in our
culture to me are the influence of people that talk down on others, and the media. Children grow and
learn to become these things or believe it because they witness it first hand and the difference in all
aspect that black people face such as looks and treatment. Sometimes raising a child with respect
and to not see any difference in anyone, unfortunately does not always work because the people

Why Do People Kill African Americans?
In this heartbreaking film, a young child was brutally raped by two white men. It was a sunny day
and all she wanted to do was make her parents satisfied by buying groceries. As she walked home a
big red truck pulled over, two white drunken men grabbed her, and raped her. She screamed, she
cried, and she call her daddy's name as they pissed on her and violated this 10 year old girl. They
left her for dead, but, her brothers found her and they made sure she got home so she would be
helped. This young girl bleeding, crying, no one could hear her weeps, but, even if someone spotted
or heard this young child, she was black so no one would care.

While watching this movie, it's like I could feel what those blacks were feeling. The hate and the
disrespect towards them was just ridiculous. How on earth could white people torture and kill
blacks? They killed them not because they were poor, but because the color of their skin! Not all
white people are rich, as well as not all blacks are poor. But, the way society has viewed blacks,
blacks were always dirty worthless peasants. Until leaders like Martin Luther King Jr, stood up for
the black community! This movie taught me so much stuff about the black community and how they
didn't have equal rights as the white community. As Samuel L Jackson stated in the movie "When
you look at me, you don't see a man, you see a black man." I understood more how the whites
thought. They didn't care that the two white men raped his daughter. They were more focused on the
fact that a black man killed two white men intentionally. I actually think he should have killed them
because during that time I'm pretty sure those two men would have gotten no time or little time for
the crime that they committed. Even if the two men were black, that wouldn't have changed his
mind. He would have still killed them because they violated and hurt his daughter and while she was
crying and screaming for his name, he was nowhere to be found. That made him even angrier. The
way that the movie develops its plot is very unique. I never would have thought Jackson

Why Do People Support Jim Crow Laws
After reading/viewing the Jim Crow pieces, I conclude that people who supported the Jim Crow
laws thought that African Americans were physically, mentally, and ethically inferior to Caucasians,
They used awfully specific and hateful laws to express their "supremacy". The picture "Jim Crow"
supports my statement by showing animals dressed in better clothing than the African American
man featured in the illustration. He seems cheerful and carefree in those tattered clothes, reinforcing
Jim Crow's supporters' view that African Americans are naturally crazy and of a lower class. This
steadfast belief provided the reasoning for the laws and punishments common with places under the
influence of Jim Crow. Speaking of laws, the rules and "guidelines"

Why Do People Still Stereotype?
Why do people still stereotype?
There are many people in the world that are all different races or to some all different colors. People
tend to judge others because of who they are and their skin color. Most people tend to judge black
individuals more because of some negative things that they tend to do or say. However, this issue
has not just started its been going on for years. Although, all people are human beings; their
cognitive thinking is different as individuals.
Many people tend to stereotype black people because of how they were raised as a child. Some
people teach their children to not like or even talk to blacks because they are a different race then
them. Some people are still living in the past when blacks and whites ... Show more content on

Not only are blacks stereotyped because of their color or appearance sometimes it is because of what
people have heard about them or what they have seen. Most of the time when watching the news
there is always something on T.v. about a black person robbing someone or shooting a person.
Therefore blacks are judged because of those situations. In the Los Angeles Times it was said that
"The risk of dying from a gunshot wound is twice as high for African Americans as it is for White
Americans." (Kaplan, Karen A12). There have been times that a person will say to act your color,
what does that actually mean? just because a person is a certain color they should talk a certain way.
"Acting white not only determines how you are rewarded, but also acts as a marker of what you
deserve. It 's why African Americans, as comedian David Chappelle observed in a recent television
interview, are "bilingual," adept at eliminating "black–associated" patterns of speech in a job
interview or at the workplace. "When I am sitting at the table [in Hollywood], I want that white guy
to know that my parents are better–educated than he is," said Chappelle. Speaking white is speaking
privilege.(Chaudhry, Lakshmi 38–40)

Slavery is forced labor where the slave is considered property and can be bought and sold. Slavery is
something that has affected many parts of the world and mostly the people there. It is interesting to
dig into the past and see what was going on when many people that are living today weren't a part
of. People have a lot of questions about slavery; Why did people become slaves? What countries
were involved in slavery? Were their different types of slavery? Some of these questions may never
be fully answered. This paper may help you understand a little bit more about slavery.
People became slaves for many reasons. Some people lost their freedom because they couldn't pay

Why Do People Use Misleading Statistics?
Everyone in the world has there own biases and beliefs. And many of us, myself included, have a
hard time on occasion admitting or even considering that our opinion could be wrong. On numerous
occasions I have heard people use statisitcs to prove just how right they are. But just because
someone throws out a statistic they possibly read on twitter, doesn't mean it has anything to do with
the topic at hand. According to the article we were assigned to read written by Professor Robin
Lovell–Badge (2013), "Nine out ten statistics are taken out of context" (p. 1). Not only is this
statement in the article, it's the title. While its quite a headline that I'm sure grabbed the attention of
many, its not surprising to me at all. However there were a few times while reading where I found
myself taken back by the information being discussed. Throuhgout the artice, there are mentions of
how animal rights groups are using misleading statistics. According to Lovell–badge (2013),
"Ironically, the figures cited by many animal rights activists are actually drawn from industry and
are intended to explain the expense of developing safe and useful medicines" (p.1). The reason this
information was of such surprise to me is because I could not believe the lengths these groups would
go to. They have no interest in entertaining the thought that the other side ... Show more content on

Why Do People Use Racial Stereotypes
Humanity is a very terrible thing sometimes because in the "what would you do" videos (actors
doing stuff to see how people react or what they would do in certain situations) people use racial
stereotypes, gender, or if it even affects them to help a situation or not. Sometimes they only do it to
feel good about themselves because they are doing something good. First and foremost, humanity
can be a terrible thing sometimes because in the "what would you do" videos based on a bike thief
people used race stereotypes to decide if they were stealing and what to do about it. When the white
guy was "stealing" a bike, no one even did anything to stop him besides like two people, when the

Why Do People Need To Challenge Authority
I understand racism, sexism, homophobia and many other discriminating adjectives that describe the
hate people have for others in this country, but I do not think it starts with hate. I believe that respect
for each other, no matter if you are black or white, poor or rich, and 1 or 100, is the lacking trait that
is found in people today. Today, there is a social divide between groups of people that believe they
deserve respect from everyone below them socially, economically or academically, and the people
that fight and tear for every ounce of respect they can get in this world due to their background. I am
going to now give my personal example of where I believe that people need to challenge authority

My father has been in my life giving anything I needed to succeed both physically and mentally and
for that, I have so much respect because he has shown love and caring for me. He did not just
believe that I should respect him because he s my father, but because I choose to respect him for the
love he has shown me. Essentially my point is that authority, no matter how powerful or perfect they
might seem, should earn respect from the people they wish to use their power on or they are just
believing they are above everyone else. I admire the companies and organizations that believe that
their employees are the root of their company because without those people, any company would be
nothing. I do not want someone to take me the wrong way in regards that I believe basic respect if
required for everyone you meet because you truly need to know someone's intentions before you

Prejudices is found virtually everywhere, and will be continually found, if we can't rise above our

Why Do People Do For College? Essay
Why Do People Not Want to go to College?
"You know why? Cause when I die buddy, you know what 's gonna keep me warm? That 's right,
those degrees." This a lyric from a song written by Kanye West entitled "School Spirit (skit 2)." It is
off his album College Dropout. This album sold 3.3 million copies in the US alone. These lyrics
represent the perception that the public has regarding college. What people think college is about
and the what the realities are. To understand the purpose of college, it helps to first understand the
underlying question on why many people don't want to go to college. There are many preconceived
notions people have about college. One notion is that it is only for "smart" people. That it is only
meant for people that did well in k–12 schooling. The second notion is that college is only worth
going through if they are attending what is considered a "good" college. The third is that people
think all colleges are too expensive, that there is no way to pay for it without building a mountain of
debt. The fourth notion will look at how culture influences the choice of whether or not to go to
college.
Why do people think college is only for smart people? This preconceived notion usually starts early
in a child's life. When you are in grade school you are told college is important. Then through the
grades of 8th – 12th, teachers and faculty really push going to "good" colleges and that the smart
people in the school should plan to go to one. Instead

Problems Faced By People Right, And Do The Right Thing Essay
Problems in America "Treat people right, and do the right thing," is something I have been taught as
a young child. Being clueless child that I was, I had no idea what was going on in America and the
problems we had to deal with. I thought America was this perfect place, when in reality, it's not.
People don't treat each other with respect, nor do they do what is morally right. The United States is
trying to make our country a better place, but it's taking time for all the changes to happen. America
is facing many problems that have or could affect our country in a negative way including,
inequality, unqualified politicians, and terrorism.
Inequality
A problem that America is facing is inequality which include racial differences between Africans
Americans and whites and also gender differences between males and females. In America, we all
assume that everyone has "freedom", but in reality that it isn't true. Right now the African
Americans are fighting for their rights because they feel that they don't have the rights and freedom
that white people do. A contribution that African Americans have set up was Black Lives Matter and
it states that it "goes beyond extrajudicial killings of Black people by police and vigilantes"(Black
Lives Matter). The movement started when Trayvon Martin got murdered by George Zimmerman.

Why Do White People Have Stereotypes And Equal Rights?
The Audience of this paper are people who are engaged in learning about stereotypes and equal
rights. I am trying to convince people that not only black people have stereotypes. That every race
has a stereotype. Stereotypes and racism has been a problem for awhile though racism has not

There Are many different ways black and white people can stereotype themselves and others. Some
white people feel that they are not racist and some feel that deep down they are because of their

never struggle in life. After watching a part in the documentary some people thought the same as
white people felt about themselves and goes the same for most black people.
The facts that were stated were coming from the people and not from other people that don't know
what they feel. Most don't have the courage to admit the bad things about their race. The society
forces the stereotypes and makes them worse than what they really are as for black and white people

How Do People Establish Goals?
What motivates people to accomplish goals and how do people accomplish said goals? Many people
will do anything it takes to carry out a goal. Stanley Pearce risked his life to gain fame and fortune,
while Farah Ahmedi had no other choice than to risk her life to gain freedom and Aengus had
aimlessly wandered the world to find his first love. Pearce, Ahmedi, and Aengus were driven by
different goals; however, they all showed the quality of being determined. To start off, Stanley
Pearce went to the Klondike filled with determination to find gold. For example, when others
couldn't find gold, they resulted to swindling newcomers; whereas Pearce continued to morally find
riches by going on stampedes instead. This shows how Pearce was determined to continue mining
despite the harsh weather and little amount of gold that was available. Despite the fact that

people can have many different goals, but they were able to accomplish their goals due to

Why Do People Kill People In Africa?
Have you ever thought about other people when you are throwing food or wasting it? About 233
million people in Africa are dying, because they don't have enough food to eat. 512 million people
in Asia are dead because there is no enough food or money. First of all, in Africa there are many
starving children even adult too. Second, for an adult in Africa getting a job is hard, which makes it
harder for them if they have kids. The care in Africa is just too little for the population of people

Why Do People Behave The Way They Do
n 'A leaders' guide to why people behave the way they do', Clawson points leaders who want to
increase their effectiveness at leading through influence to the need to be able to dig deep below the
surface of the observable everyday human behaviour in order to understand why people behave the
way they do. Clawson argues that it is by paying attention to the human side of individuals –
people's Values, Attitudes, Beliefs and Expectations (VABEs) which together shape behaviour – that
gives leaders insights into people's motivations. As VABEs are deeply ingrained and shaped through
a combination of our genetic makeup, the experience of how we were nurtured and the beliefs and
values that we have picked along life's journey, understanding where

Why Do People Codeswitch?
In "Black Skin, White Masks", Fanon states, "A black man behaves differently with a white man
than he does with another black man" (Fanon, 1952). I agree that this is true not only for black men,
but for women as well. Many people do this all of the time. Some people might do this without even
realizing what they are doing. That is because it is so natural to them that they do not realize what
they are doing. This is something that is instilled in black people at a young age. Children witness
this act of codeswitching all the time. A child knows how their parents act at home and around other
people who are people as well. The child could be going somewhere with their parent and see them
converse with someone that is not black. Seeing their parents do this exposes the children to this at
an early age. From witnessing this so many times, the children will then learn how to codeswitch in
their speaking as well. The one thing children should ask at an early age is why do people code

The first one could be that they feel comfortable talking only to a certain group of people. Black
people may only feel comfortable talking around other black people. This could lead to them being
able to relate to one another. If someone feels like they can relate to another person, then they might
talk how they normally do. If that person feels like they cannot relate to that person then they might
codeswitch. I codeswitch when I cannot relate to the person. Normally if I am talking to someone
that is not my race I will codeswitch. That goes back to growing up with this mindset. I witnessed
my parents doing this many times and now it is hard for me to not do it. Another reason someone
may codeswitch is if they are talking with someone who has more

Why Do People Leave Somalia?
The Federal Republic of Somalia is a country in East Africa, bordering the Gulf of Aden and the
Indian Ocean. With a poor economy and a population of 10.5 million, it is no surprise that Somalia
struggles to provide safety and resources for all its citizens. The official language is Somali, the
main religion is Sunni Muslim and 85% of the inhabiting population is Somali (Central Intelligence

Being a poor and politically unstable country that is prone to natural disasters, Somalia suffers from
a major defection of citizens. Over 650 000 Somali refugees find refuge in Kenya and Ethiopia,

Do People kill People, or do Guns Kill People
According to the U.S. Constitution, the Second Amendment states that the right to bear arms should
not be altered.(Bill of Rights). Many American citizens believe this amendment is an individual
right, while others believe that it is a collective right intended to restrict Congress from taking away
a state's right to self–defense. This, along with other current events, has given rise to heated debate
on the topic of gun control. History has shown that there are positive and negative effects of gun
control laws and high profile events that have lead to a highly controversial debate. Around 1788,
James Madison stated that the Second Amendment was written to assure the southern states that

They believe it also ensures that people cannot be taken over by a domestic or foreign military
(Flamehorse 1). Having too many gun control laws could create an unbalanced level of power
between the government and the members of society. Less restrictions and laws keeps the balance in
check and prevents governments from having military power over the people . In addition, most
citizens believe gun laws will make our nation safer by reducing the number of guns in the
population, as well as the types of guns allowed for ownership. However, laws are not followed by
those that commit crimes. For example, the city of Chicago prohibited the sale of guns in the city
limits effective in 2010. In 2010 there were 432 murders, and in 2012 there were 500. Chicago was
recently named by the FBI as the nation's murder capital (Flamehorse 1). This would indicate more
laws do not necessarily result in a decrease in crime. The gun control topic is also a factor in the
political world. The two major parties in the United States do not agree on gun control rights or
laws. Therefore, large sums of money are spent on advertising and lobbyists in order to make their
ideas and beliefs known to voters. In 2011, $4,212,996 was spent by gun rights groups and $240,000
was spent by gun control groups (Sanburn 2). There have been several historical events that

Why Do People Use Reactive People
These habits are very important because if you don't use them you may lose something you love.
Reactive people are people that do something without thinking about what will happen or
consequences. proactive people we're people think before they speak and doing something.
Proactive people give opportunities and chances to other people so they do not become reactive.
Proactive people are like a different breed because they make better choices and don't make choices
that reactive people make. Reactive people don't take responsibility for what they do or did and how
they acted. Reactive people think that they will never change they will always stay the same while

Why Do People Fear And Reject Others Who Are Different?
Why do people fear and reject others who are different? Diversity among people, life, and beliefs
should be valued. People will always be different. The unique aspects of other cultures and
traditions should spark curiosity and respect, not fear. All throughout history leaders have rebelled
against groups of people who live and look differently. One such instance of this radical oppression
is seen in J.N. Choate 's before and after pictures of Native American children forced to attend an
American boarding school. Upon their arrival to Carlisle Industrial School the children in the picture
are unique, confident, and relaxed. Their attire is comfortable and humble. They are either standing
or sitting up straight with long hair, which is customary of many tribes (Choate). Sadly though, in
the picture taken four months later, they have lost all their individuality, and are sitting closely in
fear. They appear uncomfortable in tight fitting clothes and short haircuts. Their expressions show a
child who is lost and confused (Choate). These pictures show the results of man 's inability to accept
that which is different. Even though The Carlisle Industrial School offered positive changes such as
education and new skills training, they were met with resistance, wars, being forced off their land
and imprisoned on reservations. The European–Americans desire to conform and control the Native
Americans caused a divide among the two separate groups which resulted in distrust and anger. As

• Why Do People Believe Or Act Differently Than Others?
America, the land that people often refer to as the big melting pot. People from all over the world
come here that have different cultures, different appearances, and different religions. However, this
poses a huge question on how this came to be. How did diversity first come about? Why do people
believe or act differently than others? Once diversity began appear, how did people come up with
classifications to group certain people together? Some answers are easier than others. For example,
according to the power point people came from Africa. As they moved to other areas of the world,
they began to adapt and significant differences between people came to form. Noses are good
examples of this adaptation. Depending if a nose is narrower or wider, the nose either warms or
cools the air. This is important for which climate setting the person lives in. These differences began
the classifying because people have a hard time of letting people just be people. Although, people do
enjoy knowing what ethnicity they have in their genetics. With all these differences though, it makes
classifying people into arduous processes that holds many errors and is problematic when people
add a hierarchy to the classifications. The start of racial classifications where especially problematic.
Race is primarily based off of people's characteristics, and to classify people at the start, there were
only three categories: Caucasoid, Mongoloids, and Negroid. Trying to put the whole populations

Why Do People Judge People Based On Their Skin?
Why do people judge people based on their skin? This happens everyday in our american lives. A
theme in To Kill a Mockingbird there are themes revealed. One way the theme is revealed is through
the people. Another way the theme is revealed is through the type of atmosphere they are around.
Finally the theme is revealed through the education level of people. All of these help reveal the
theme. In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird, a community called Maycomb is filled with racism
due to the town's historical background. In the book the majority of the town use to have slaves.
Slaves were part of the maycomb's history. Simon and Miss Maudie reveal the theme by saying:
"Simon having forgotten his teacher's dictum on the possession of human charter, bought 3 slaves
and with their aid established a homestead." (Lee 4). People believed blacks were meant to be
slaves. So they were given no freedom. This shows the past of how america use to be. Blacks could

be very lucky. This is a way that shows the struggle of blacks. With this information provided, it
shows how important schooling is. In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird shows racism all
throughout the book. It showed racism by families having numerous amounts of slaves. Also by not
allowing blacks and whites in the same buildings/utilities. Finally it was displayed by the education
levels of the black society. Racism altered the way we think about certain people. It also is

Do People Treat Those Equally?
"In order to treat some persons equally, we must treat them differently," says former US Supreme
Court Justice, Harry Blackmun. If you are referring to treating more privileged people the way one
would treat more oppressed people, this could be true; If you are referring to treating oppressed
people the way you would treat privileged people, this is also true. In today's world, unless you have
a the alleged "default" race, gender, religion or sexuality, you are treated differently. People choose
treat someone like scum on the basis of those things, which isn't right at all. On the flip side, people
can be held on pedestals because of those things, which also isn't right. The only thing anyone can
choose from race, gender, religion or sexuality, is religion. That being said, there is no wrong or
right thing to believe in. There is an entire religion that people call terrorists and innocent people are
hurt or even sometimes killed for believing in that religion. That entire religion is called that because
of something extremists did. What if people called all Christians terrorists for the extremists that ...

How Do Aboriginal People Shape Australia's Heritage

Australian ground were the indigenous people. The Indigenous people are made up of two groups:
the Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander people. The Indigenous people of Australia have helped
shape Australia's rich heritage through many cultural practices.
The first people to live on Australian ground was the Aboriginal people. The Aboriginal people
came by boat 65,000 years ago. According to Hans Villarica (2013), they were the first people to

The first boomerang was made 25,000 to 30,000 years ago. It was the first man–made object that is
heavier than air that flies and the most important feature of it is that it will return to the one who
threw it. Only the men of the tribe were allowed to weld the boomerang, they used to it hunt birds
and stun their prey. Another great invention the Aborigines created was the Woomera, that was
created around 40,000 years ago. The Woomera was a spear thrower, it attached to the back end of
the spear and would sling it almost three times further than a normal man could throw. This helped
tremendously with hunting because they could be further away and not alert the animals. According
to Lynda Delacey (2015), Thermoplastic resins was one of the most important inventions. The
thermoplastic resin was made up of porcupine grass and grass trees. They would beat the resin out
of the grass and clean it up then heat it. Heating it allowed them to mold it into any shape or form

Case Study: Do Americans Prefer White People In Business
Do Americans Prefer White People to Black People in Business?
ThinkProgress reveals a year–long research study that took place on the well–known, online
marketplace, Craigslist. In the experiment, old IPods were put up for sale. The IPods were the same
in a series of pictures, but the IPod was held by different people. In some of the postings the device
was held by white hand, in others by white hands with various tattoos on the wrists, and in others by
a black hand.
The question that was asked at the beginning of the study was, "When the typical person engages in
a consumer transaction (usually as a buyer), does he or she try to avoid dealing with minority
sellers, and does he/she treat minority sellers differently?"
After a year of collecting data, the researches found that black sellers received fewer responses,
fewer offers, and were offered lower prices. They found that buyers were less respectful when
dealing with the black sellers, and were more concerned about delivery and payment. They also
found that people flagged the ads as inappropriate, which led to them being removed, at a higher
rate than for white people with the same ad. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Do Mainstream Media Portray Roma People?
First of all, based on the information found during the research, it can be seen that mainstream
media portray Roma people in France and Romania in a neutral or negative way, and rarely in

coverage when specific circumstances occur, for instance, crime. As of 2010, both the mainstream as
well as alternative media was focusing mainly on the expulsion of Roma from France by former
France's president Sarkozy. This has even gone outside the France's national media into international
media sites such as The New York Times, BBC, CNN, etc. The expulsion against Roma
communities by the French government have caught a lot of attention by the media and sparked a

Why Do People Hate The Aztecs

  • 1. Why Do People Hate The Aztecs In the 1400 the aztecs were being formed by different areas of towns. When it was formed in the 1430s they have adapted a power system where the king was at the top and the nobles were underneath the king. In work different people had different items to do. A priest at the time would bring order to the universe and its gods. A belief was within the priest that they thought that you have to sacrifice people for in order for the gods to be pleased. When the aztecs were expanding to different territories they would take supplies, food and people to sacrifice for their gods. This had made different groups to hate the aztecs and when cortes came he decided to use them for his advantage to overthrow the aztecs. Near the aztecs were the incas which ... • 3. Why Do People Do Volunteer Work HRPYC81 PROJECT 4809 Assignment 2 What motivates people to do volunteer work? MJ SCRIVEN TABLE OF CONTENTS LITERATURE REVIEW There are almost as many reasons for getting involved in volunteer work as there are volunteers. Once people get started, they find that their deepest rewards are ones they didn't expect when they first came looking for a volunteer assignment. Participants entered the volunteer world through ads in the paper, articles in the media and invitations by friends. They wanted to get involved in a new community, they overheard someone talking about a need or they just wanted to be active. Some wanted to repay a perceived debt to society and others took up volunteer work as part of a major reassessment of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the field of psychology, the functional approach to understanding altruism is the predominant one. Central to this approach is that people engage in various activities for purposeful, goal–oriented reasons (Fletcher and Major 2004:110). Related to the functional approach is the Volunteer Functions Inventory, created by Clary et al. (1998), which is based on the functional approach to understanding altruism. A functional perspective towards motivations to volunteer is chiefly concerned with the "why" of volunteerism (Whitt 2006:10). Understanding these reasons for volunteering, is important and could give us concrete answers as to why people would participate in long–term volunteering. The issue of sufficient support networks for people in need is very important. It has a very crucial role to play in the well–being of people. We all need support when we are going through difficult times and knowing that there is someone there for you, someone who cares, can make all the difference in the world. RESEARCH RATIONALE This research is being conducted to investigate volunteer motivation, satisfactions and dissatisfactions. As is stated by Becsi et al (2008), much of the literature in the social sciences focuses on predicting volunteering behaviour with underlying theories of resources availability. ... • 5. Why Do White People Cause Racism? White people are not racist. Throughout the years of the Civil Rights Movement there have been many White Civil Rights Activist. Reverend Bruce Klunder was one such man. On April 7, 1964 in Cleveland, Ohio Klunder joined other Civil Rights activist in a protest that was against the building of a segregated school. They did this by placing their bodies in front of construction equipment, knowing that this was dangerous. Klunder unfortunately was ran over by a bulldozer, but this only made his voice stronger by showing that a White man would give his life for equality. The white race is judged on the actions of a few individuals, but we are not them. Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black was born in Harlan, Alabama. Being born in such a area caused ... One such Freedom Rider was James Zwerg. On May 20th, a group of Freedom Riders leaves Birmingham, Alabama heading toward Montgomery. Abandoned by their promised police escort, the riders arrive at Montgomery and are met by a mob of Ku Klux Klansmen. As soon as Zwerg is the first to step off the Greyhound bus, he is savagely beaten until unconscious. During this same incident another daring White man, Justice Department official John Seigenthaler, is also knocked unconscious, this time by a lead pipe, trying to save two African–American women from the mob. Days later, awoken in the hospital with a bruised face and a broken body unable to move; Zwerg is quoted at this time saying "Segregation must be stopped. It must be broken down. Those of us on the Freedom Ride will continue.... We're dedicated to this, we'll take hitting, we'll take beating. We're willing to accept death. But we're going to keep coming until we can ride from anywhere in the South to any place else in the South without anybody making any comments, just as American citizens." Zwerg was willing to lay down his life for the improvement of the lives of African Americans. These two men are not alone. • 7. Why Do People Do It? At some point in our lives, we all have been criticized, perhaps in a positive or professional way or the opposite a negative way. Often it is difficult to accept, it all depends on our reaction. In this case you can use the criticism as a method of improvement or in a negative way that can lower your self– esteem and cause anger, stress, aggression and sadness. There is no one or anything that can stop it. It has been going on for so long and no one has found a cure to the illness. It is incurable just like Ebola. It spreads around easily and anyone can catch it. Is it right? Why do people do it? This story reminded me of a personal experience. It was on August 24, 2000 a beautiful Monday morning, a beautiful day that turned into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ms. White was a nice and understanding teacher. She assigned me with three other people, Jeffrey, Max and Thomas. Max was the first one to address me, and I answered him in Creole. He started to laugh at me and made fun of me. He started calling me "stupid ", "dirty Haitian", and pushed me during recess. He asked the others to made fun of me, and everyone in the school made fun of me behind the teacher's back. I was bullied and was abused; I was unable to express myself since I spoke no English. I felt humiliated, and I wanted to quit school. Every morning I cried, and was unable to express my emotions to my parents because I did not want the boys to get in trouble. I was depressed, sad and lonely. I felt as if I did not belong. I was angry and sad every day, I was bullied every day. The hurts were engraved in my memories and thoughts. It was the worst feelings ever. I was feeling this way for the entire school year. The next school year the same things happened, although I knew a little English it did not change a thing. The boys always denied it and they were never caught. This was one of the worst feelings ever, being stereotyped, bullied or criticized for no particular reason. I did not do anything to deserve it nor did the characters from the story. • 9. Why Do Modern Science-Educated People Still Treat Race Considering all the physical and genetic facts that tell us that there are no biologically–based "races" in the human species, why do modern, science–educated people still treat "race" as if it comes from nature, as if it tells us something important about an individual? Scientist still treat is as if it comes from nature because the skin color of a person can offer insights into a person's geographic ancestry. Whenever we see someone of color we automatically assume that they are of a certain race, place, etc... Race is misunderstood and we as a society do not fully comprehend that there is much more to race than the color of the skin. Select one of the examples of "life experiences" that illustrates racism (racial profiling, racial stereotype, racial discrimination) and that you think is perpetuated by some aspect of the mainstream American culture. Then, explain the connection you see between culture and racism. The life experience that I chose was "On the street". Racial profiling is done to many people but overall it's done the most to ... There are many people that automatically turn to look at a black person in a weird way because of the reputation they have been given. Children grow and learn to become these things or believe it because they witness it first hand and the difference in all aspect that black people face such as looks and treatment. Sometimes raising a child with respect and to not see any difference in anyone, unfortunately does not always work because the people around them and the portrayal in platforms such as television can encourage a child to believe these ... • 11. Why Do People Kill African Americans? In this heartbreaking film, a young child was brutally raped by two white men. It was a sunny day and all she wanted to do was make her parents satisfied by buying groceries. As she walked home a big red truck pulled over, two white drunken men grabbed her, and raped her. She screamed, she cried, and she call her daddy's name as they pissed on her and violated this 10 year old girl. They left her for dead, but, her brothers found her and they made sure she got home so she would be helped. This young girl bleeding, crying, no one could hear her weeps, but, even if someone spotted or heard this young child, she was black so no one would care. While watching this movie, it's like I could feel what those blacks were feeling. The hate and the disrespect towards them was just ridiculous. How on earth could white people torture and kill blacks? They killed them not because they were poor, but because the color of their skin! Not all white people are rich, as well as not all blacks are poor. But, the way society has viewed blacks, blacks were always dirty worthless peasants. Until leaders like Martin Luther King Jr, stood up for the black community! This movie taught me so much stuff about the black community and how they didn't have equal rights as the white community. As Samuel L Jackson stated in the movie "When you look at me, you don't see a man, you see a black man." I understood more how the whites thought. They didn't care that the two white men raped his daughter. They were more focused on the fact that a black man killed two white men intentionally. I actually think he should have killed them because during that time I'm pretty sure those two men would have gotten no time or little time for the crime that they committed. Even if the two men were black, that wouldn't have changed his mind. He would have still killed them because they violated and hurt his daughter and while she was crying and screaming for his name, he was nowhere to be found. That made him even angrier. The way that the movie develops its plot is very unique. I never would have thought Jackson ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Why Do People Support Jim Crow Laws After reading/viewing the Jim Crow pieces, I conclude that people who supported the Jim Crow laws thought that African Americans were physically, mentally, and ethically inferior to Caucasians, They used awfully specific and hateful laws to express their "supremacy". The picture "Jim Crow" supports my statement by showing animals dressed in better clothing than the African American man featured in the illustration. He seems cheerful and carefree in those tattered clothes, reinforcing Jim Crow's supporters' view that African Americans are naturally crazy and of a lower class. This steadfast belief provided the reasoning for the laws and punishments common with places under the influence of Jim Crow. Speaking of laws, the rules and "guidelines" ... • 15. Why Do People Still Stereotype? Why do people still stereotype? There are many people in the world that are all different races or to some all different colors. People tend to judge others because of who they are and their skin color. Most people tend to judge black individuals more because of some negative things that they tend to do or say. However, this issue has not just started its been going on for years. Although, all people are human beings; their cognitive thinking is different as individuals. Many people tend to stereotype black people because of how they were raised as a child. Some people teach their children to not like or even talk to blacks because they are a different race then them. Some people are still living in the past when blacks and whites ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not only are blacks stereotyped because of their color or appearance sometimes it is because of what people have heard about them or what they have seen. Most of the time when watching the news there is always something on T.v. about a black person robbing someone or shooting a person. Therefore blacks are judged because of those situations. In the Los Angeles Times it was said that "The risk of dying from a gunshot wound is twice as high for African Americans as it is for White Americans." (Kaplan, Karen A12). There have been times that a person will say to act your color, what does that actually mean? just because a person is a certain color they should talk a certain way. "Acting white not only determines how you are rewarded, but also acts as a marker of what you deserve. It 's why African Americans, as comedian David Chappelle observed in a recent television interview, are "bilingual," adept at eliminating "black–associated" patterns of speech in a job interview or at the workplace. "When I am sitting at the table [in Hollywood], I want that white guy to know that my parents are better–educated than he is," said Chappelle. • 19. Why Do People Use Misleading Statistics? Everyone in the world has there own biases and beliefs. And many of us, myself included, have a hard time on occasion admitting or even considering that our opinion could be wrong. On numerous occasions I have heard people use statisitcs to prove just how right they are. But just because someone throws out a statistic they possibly read on twitter, doesn't mean it has anything to do with the topic at hand. According to the article we were assigned to read written by Professor Robin Lovell–Badge (2013), "Nine out ten statistics are taken out of context" (p. 1). Not only is this statement in the article, it's the title. While its quite a headline that I'm sure grabbed the attention of many, its not surprising to me at all. However there were a few times while reading where I found myself taken back by the information being discussed. Throuhgout the artice, there are mentions of how animal rights groups are using misleading statistics. According to Lovell–badge (2013), "Ironically, the figures cited by many animal rights activists are actually drawn from industry and are intended to explain the expense of developing safe and useful medicines" (p.1). The reason this information was of such surprise to me is because I could not believe the lengths these groups would go to. They have no interest in entertaining the thought that the other side ... Why Do People Use Racial Stereotypes Humanity is a very terrible thing sometimes because in the "what would you do" videos (actors doing stuff to see how people react or what they would do in certain situations) people use racial stereotypes, gender, or if it even affects them to help a situation or not. Sometimes they only do it to feel good about themselves because they are doing something good. First and foremost, humanity can be a terrible thing sometimes because in the "what would you do" videos based on a bike thief people used race stereotypes to decide if they were stealing and what to do about it. When the white guy was "stealing" a bike, no one even did anything to stop him besides like two people, when the male was black everybody stopped and tried to get him to leave and called the police, but when the person was a women, guys stopped to help her steal the bike. • 23. Why Do People Need To Challenge Authority I understand racism, sexism, homophobia and many other discriminating adjectives that describe the hate people have for others in this country, but I do not think it starts with hate. I believe that respect for each other, no matter if you are black or white, poor or rich, and 1 or 100, is the lacking trait that is found in people today. Today, there is a social divide between groups of people that believe they deserve respect from everyone below them socially, economically or academically, and the people that fight and tear for every ounce of respect they can get in this world due to their background. I am going to now give my personal example of where I believe that people need to challenge authority because authority is not always in your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My father has been in my life giving anything I needed to succeed both physically and mentally and for that, I have so much respect because he has shown love and caring for me. He did not just believe that I should respect him because he s my father, but because I choose to respect him for the love he has shown me. Essentially my point is that authority, no matter how powerful or perfect they might seem, should earn respect from the people they wish to use their power on or they are just believing they are above everyone else. I admire the companies and organizations that believe that their employees are the root of their company because without those people, any company would be nothing. I do not want someone to take me the wrong way in regards that I believe basic respect if required for everyone you meet because you truly need to know someone's intentions before you disrespect them. Prejudices is found virtually everywhere, and will be continually found, if we can't rise above our own opinions and just listen to what others have to say. It's not everyone's fault, it's the people that encompass one's life. Therefore, if ones around people that have a negative thought process, one will soon also have the same thought process even though it's wrong. The only way out of it would be ones self–perseverance in achieving goals in life. 2. A stereotype is a way to categorize, or even identify a type of person. In this editorial, with the stereotype that whites are better than blacks. It's being unpleasant, and destructive to the black community. As it said in the article "people with names that sounded white versus names that sounded black.", were more likely to get a job even if the white person had a felon on file, and the black person had a clean file. I'm sure, for as long as I live there will be racism, that just the way some people are taught to think. Then, moving to his parents, they could only live in a community where it was only black. If they tried living in a white neighborhood they'd be driven out in a heartbeat. • 27. Why Do People Do For College? Essay Why Do People Not Want to go to College? "You know why? Cause when I die buddy, you know what 's gonna keep me warm? That 's right, those degrees." This a lyric from a song written by Kanye West entitled "School Spirit (skit 2)." It is off his album College Dropout. This album sold 3.3 million copies in the US alone. These lyrics represent the perception that the public has regarding college. What people think college is about and the what the realities are. To understand the purpose of college, it helps to first understand the underlying question on why many people don't want to go to college. There are many preconceived notions people have about college. One notion is that it is only for "smart" people. That it is only meant for people that did well in k–12 schooling. The second notion is that college is only worth going through if they are attending what is considered a "good" college. The third is that people think all colleges are too expensive, that there is no way to pay for it without building a mountain of debt. The fourth notion will look at how culture influences the choice of whether or not to go to college. Why do people think college is only for smart people? This preconceived notion usually starts early in a child's life. When you are in grade school you are told college is important. Then through the grades of 8th – 12th, teachers and faculty really push going to "good" colleges and that the smart people in the school should plan to go to one. Instead ... There is an excellent example of uniforms influencing power in the Stanford Prison experiment which took place in1971, it was lead by Prof Zimbardo1 (see footnote) in which a group of students were selected to act as prison guards and prisoners in a 'fake' prison. Being clueless child that I was, I had no idea what was going on in America and the problems we had to deal with. I thought America was this perfect place, when in reality, it's not. People don't treat each other with respect, nor do they do what is morally right. The United States is trying to make our country a better place, but it's taking time for all the changes to happen. America is facing many problems that have or could affect our country in a negative way including, inequality, unqualified politicians, and terrorism. Inequality A problem that America is facing is inequality which include racial differences between Africans Americans and whites and also gender differences between males and females. In America, we all assume that everyone has "freedom", but in reality that it isn't true. Right now the African Americans are fighting for their rights because they feel that they don't have the rights and freedom that white people do. A contribution that African Americans have set up was Black Lives Matter and it states that it "goes beyond extrajudicial killings of Black people by police and vigilantes"(Black Lives Matter). I agree that this is true not only for black men, but for women as well. Many people do this all of the time. Some people might do this without even realizing what they are doing. That is because it is so natural to them that they do not realize what they are doing. This is something that is instilled in black people at a young age. Children witness this act of codeswitching all the time. A child knows how their parents act at home and around other people who are people as well. Having too many gun control laws could create an unbalanced level of power between the government and the members of society. In addition, most citizens believe gun laws will make our nation safer by reducing the number of guns in the population, as well as the types of guns allowed for ownership. However, laws are not followed by those that commit crimes. For example, the city of Chicago prohibited the sale of guns in the city limits effective in 2010. People will always be different. The unique aspects of other cultures and traditions should spark curiosity and respect, not fear. All throughout history leaders have rebelled against groups of people who live and look differently. One such instance of this radical oppression is seen in J.N. Upon their arrival to Carlisle Industrial School the children in the picture are unique, confident, and relaxed. Their attire is comfortable and humble. They are either standing or sitting up straight with long hair, which is customary of many tribes (Choate). Sadly though, in the picture taken four months later, they have lost all their individuality, and are sitting closely in fear. They appear uncomfortable in tight fitting clothes and short haircuts. Their expressions show a child who is lost and confused (Choate). These pictures show the results of man 's inability to accept that which is different. Even though The Carlisle Industrial School offered positive changes such as education and new skills training, they were met with resistance, wars, being forced off their land and imprisoned on reservations. If you are Muslim, and your opinion of righteousness comes in the form of killing all those who disagree with your brand of religion, race, and creed. Then you are a terrorist; and must be eradicated by all good and mainstream peoples of the world! This brings me back to Christianity. It was Muslims who started and provoked and promoted the Crusades. Christians simply responded to the genocide that was being committed against them. You have been the religion of hatred, the religion of selection, the religion against everyone who is not Muslim. You hate Jews; you hate women; you hate everything that prevents you from world domination. And frankly, I hate you! People from all over the world come here that have different cultures, different appearances, and different religions. However, this poses a huge question on how this came to be. How did diversity first come about? Why do people believe or act differently than others? Once diversity began appear, how did people come up with classifications to group certain people together? Some answers are easier than others. For example, according to the power point people came from Africa. As they moved to other areas of the world, they began to adapt and significant differences between people came to form. Noses are good examples of this adaptation. Depending if a nose is narrower or wider, the nose either warms or cools the air. This is important for which climate setting the person lives in. These differences began the classifying because people have a hard time of letting people just be people. Although, people do enjoy knowing what ethnicity they have in their genetics. With all these differences though, it makes classifying people into arduous processes that holds many errors and is problematic when people add a hierarchy to the classifications. The start of racial classifications where especially problematic. Race is primarily based off of people's characteristics, and to classify people at the start, there were only three categories: Caucasoid, Mongoloids, and Negroid. Trying to put the whole populations into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Atticus and Calpurnia reveal this in chapter 3 by saying: "Calpurnia had more education than most colored folks."(Lee 32). Most colored people did not have that much education because they either could not afford it or they were not allowed to. If they did have a really good education, they would be very lucky. This is a way that shows the struggle of blacks. With this information provided, it shows how important schooling is. In Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird shows racism all throughout the book. It showed racism by families having numerous amounts of slaves. Also by not allowing blacks and whites in the same buildings/utilities. If you are referring to treating more privileged people the way one would treat more oppressed people, this could be true; If you are referring to treating oppressed people the way you would treat privileged people, this is also true. In today's world, unless you have a the alleged "default" race, gender, religion or sexuality, you are treated differently. People choose treat someone like scum on the basis of those things, which isn't right at all. On the flip side, people can be held on pedestals because of those things, which also isn't right. The only thing anyone can choose from race, gender, religion or sexuality, is religion. That being said, there is no wrong or right thing to believe in. There is an entire religion that people call terrorists and innocent people are hurt or even sometimes killed for believing in that religion. It was the first man–made object that is heavier than air that flies and the most important feature of it is that it will return to the one who threw it. Only the men of the tribe were allowed to weld the boomerang, they used to it hunt birds and stun their prey. Another great invention the Aborigines created was the Woomera, that was created around 40,000 years ago. The Woomera was a spear thrower, it attached to the back end of the spear and would sling it almost three times further than a normal man could throw. This helped tremendously with hunting because they could be further away and not alert the animals. According to Lynda Delacey (2015), Thermoplastic resins was one of the most important inventions. ThinkProgress reveals a year–long research study that took place on the well–known, online marketplace, Craigslist. In the experiment, old IPods were put up for sale. The IPods were the same in a series of pictures, but the IPod was held by different people. In some of the postings the device was held by white hand, in others by white hands with various tattoos on the wrists, and in others by a black hand. The question that was asked at the beginning of the study was, "When the typical person engages in a consumer transaction (usually as a buyer), does he or she try to avoid dealing with minority sellers, and does he/she treat minority sellers differently?" After a year of collecting data, the researches found that black sellers received fewer responses, fewer offers, and were offered lower prices. They found that buyers were less respectful when dealing with the black sellers, and were more concerned about delivery and payment. They also found that people flagged the ads as inappropriate, which led to them being removed, at a higher rate than for white people with the same ad. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, based on the information found during the research, it can be seen that mainstream media portray Roma people in France and Romania in a neutral or negative way, and rarely in positive way. Regardless of the news about Romani is positive of negative, there seems to be more coverage when specific circumstances occur, for instance, crime.
