This document provides a summary of Ephesians 5:1-7 regarding imitating God and avoiding immoral behavior. It makes three key points:
1) Children of God should imitate their heavenly Father by focusing on God's love and following Christ's example of sacrifice.
2) Children of God should not behave like "children of disobedience" by engaging in immorality, impurity, greed or crude speech. Such behavior is inconsistent with God's kingdom.
3) Those who behave immorally, through sexual sin or idolatry, will not inherit God's kingdom and invite his wrath. Christians should therefore not partner or associate with those living immoral lifestyles.
It's hard for most people to grasp the concept of being a slave. Most would deny that they are servants. But the reality is that we are all slaves/servants to something. If one is honest with himself He'll admit that he is in bondage to his job, to a location where he lives, to a bad marriage, to a sick and dying body and most of all to sin. Paul speaks in the context to the Roman empire where the majority of his listeners are servants. You may not be this kind of a servant, but the principles are still applicable to employees, students and even children. Jesus did not come to rule but to serve. We are to do the same.
Put On Righteousness - Ephesians 6:14bDavid Turner
We cannot clothe ourselves in our personal righteousness, because any righteousness we have in ourselves falls short of God's standard of righteousness. Instead, we must shield our hearts with the righteousness of Christ. We are declared righteous because of his righteousness, not because of anything in ourselves. Before Christ came into our lives, we were children of darkness. But even as God is light, and Christ is the light of the world, so also are we are children of light. Girt Your Loins In Truth - Ephesians 6:14aDavid Turner
Paul tells the Ephesian Christians to girt their loans in truth. One's loins is the center of one being. It is the place stability. In a world which runs on the current of popular opinion it's often difficult to discern truth. Is is found in science, or philosophy, or politicians or power. Real truth is found in Jesus Christ who proclaimed, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father accept through me." This is the truth that Paul encourages the Ephesians gird their loins with. It's the same truth we ought to hold tight to our core. His has gone to prepare for the reception of bride and will someday comeback to consummate the marriage. Christ love for his church is the model set more a man's love for his wife. The First Epistle of Clement is a letter addressed to the Christians in the city of Corinth. Based on internal evidence some scholars say the letter was composed some time before AD 70, but the common time given for the epistle's composition is at the end of the reign of Domitian (c. AD 96). It ranks with Didache as one of the earliest, if not the earliest, of extant Christian documents outside the traditional New Testament canon. As the name suggests, a Second Epistle of Clement is known, but this is a later work by a different author. Part of the Apostolic Fathers collection, 1 and 2 Clement are not usually considered to be part of the canonical New Testament.

Conclusion:
Right of Justice and Judgement was not given to souls. It is the sole prerogative of God for which He created His Karmic Law.
His Karmic Law works on the principle of Upliftment of soul. If we are keen to realize our Father then we must stop judging others and also stop seeking justice for wrong done to us.
When we will forgive others, God will forgive our trespasses to His Law.

We are forgiven by God through Christ, therefore we ought to forgive others even as God has forgiven us. This is the heart of the Gospel. Growth in the spiritual life is often hindered because we often refuse to forgive others.
The Lord's Prayer was not taught to be repeated without thought as to what it means. It given by our Lord to teach us a model for prayer. In this presentation we will look at the components that make up a the way we ought to pray.
Are we trying to impress the world? Are we trying to impress others? Who are we trying to impress? Ultimately we can impress no one, not even God. But rewards are with God, not because we can impress him, but because he honors those that love him.
John 1:1 claims that all life is in Christ. He is the creator of life and he sustains all life. He is the author of physical life and spiritual life. Without him there is no life.
We call it the triumphal entry. Compared with the entry of other kings and generals it was modest. Compared to his future entry into Jerusalem all the kings entries of the past seem insignificant.
They Trusted In Something Greater Than ThemselvesDavid Turner
The founding fathers of our nation trusted in something greater than the Declaration of Independence. They trusted in the Bible and the God of the Bible. Our present leaders would do well to put their trust in the same God and the same Bible.
The greatest book of liberty is not a document or a declaration. The greatest book of liberty is the Bible. The bible presents the Gospel, the good news that sets me free.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

2. Children of Immortality vs.
Children of Immorality
• Children of God mimic their Father
– God’s love is their focus
– The Son of God is their model
• Children of God do not imitate the Children of
Disobedience:
– Immorality
– Impurity
– Covetousness
– Inappropriate talk
• The behavior of The Children of Disobedience is
inconsistent with Christ’s kingdom and invites God’s wrath.
• Don’t partner with those that behave as children of
disobedience.
3. Ephesians 5:1–7 (ESV)
5 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. 2 And
walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a
fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3 But sexual immorality
and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named
among you, as is proper among saints. 4 Let there be no
filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of
place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. 5 For you may be
sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure,
or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in
the kingdom of Christ and God. 6 Let no one deceive you with
empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God
comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not
become partners with them;
5. As Children, Imitate Your Parent
5 Therefore be imitators (mimetes) of God, as
beloved children.
You can’t imitate what you don’t know. Get
close to the Father so you can imitate Him.
– Read His Love Letter to you.
• To learn what pleases him/displeases him.
– Spend time talking to Him.
– Be sensitive to the Spirit
– And …..
6. Mimic the Son – Mimic the Father
2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave
himself up for us, a fragrant offering and
sacrifice to God.
Follow Jesus’ Example.
Rom. 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,
by the mercies of God, to present your bodies
as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to
God, which is your spiritual worship
7. Don’t Imitate the Neighbors false love
3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or
covetousness must not even be named among
you, as is proper among saints.
God’s Children always had misbehaving
neighbors:
Sodom and Gomorrah
Egypt
Canaanites/Philistines
Greeks/Romans
8. Don’t even entertain thoughts of
sexual immorality
3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or
covetousness must not even be named among
you, as is proper among saints.
Πορνεία (pornea) - extra-marital and unnatural
intercourse.
9. Numbers 25:1–9
25 While Israel lived in Shittim, the people began to
whore with the daughters of Moab. 2 These invited
the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the
people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So
Israel yoked himself to Baal of Peor. And the anger
of the LORD was kindled against Israel. 4 And the
LORD said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the
people and hang them in the sun before the LORD,
that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away
from Israel.” 5 And Moses said to the judges of
Israel, “Each of you kill those of his men who have
yoked themselves to Baal of Peor.”
10. 6 And behold, one of the people of Israel came and
brought a Midianite woman to his family, in the sight of
Moses and in the sight of the whole congregation of the
people of Israel, while they were weeping in the entrance
of the tent of meeting. 7 When Phinehas the son of
Eleazar, son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose and left
the congregation and took a spear in his hand 8 and went
after the man of Israel into the chamber and pierced both
of them, the man of Israel and the woman through her
belly. Thus the plague on the people of Israel was
stopped. 9 Nevertheless, those who died by the plague
were twenty-four thousand.
11. 1 Corinthians 10:8,11
8 We must not indulge in sexual immorality as
some of them did, and twenty-three thousand
fell in a single day…… 11 Now these things
happened to them as an example, but they were
written down for our instruction, on whom the
end of the ages has come.
12. Don’t even entertain thoughts of
impurity
3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or
covetousness must not even be named among
you, as is proper among saints.
Impurity (akatharsia, a-katharsis) – Unclean,
impure. Includes sexual immorality, but here
may refer to all acts of the flesh including
idolatry, greed, etc.
13. Don’t even entertain thoughts of
Greed
3 But sexual immorality and all impurity or
covetousness must not even be named among
you, as is proper among saints.
Covetousness – Have more, receive more, or
want more (Greek lit. includes property, power,
pleasure). Selfish gratification.
Way of the world, not God’s Children
14. Discontent expresses itself in
inappropriate speech.
4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor
crude joking, which are out of place, but instead
let there be thanksgiving.
Don’t use obscenity, foolish talk, and coarse
joking. What comes from your mouth indicates
what is in your heart.
Replace it with thanksgiving.
15. Warning!!!!
5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who
is sexually immoral or impure, or who is
covetous (that is, an idolater), has no
inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Such behavior is evidence that one is not really
in Christ.
16. Similar Warning to Corinthians
1 Corinthians 6:9–10
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will
not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be
deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor
idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice
homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy,
nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will
inherit the kingdom of God.
17. Same Warning to Galatians.
Galatians 5:19–21
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual
immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry,
sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger,
rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy,
drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I
warn you, as I warned you before, that those
who do such things will not inherit the kingdom
of God.
18. Warning to the Thessalonians
1 Thessalonians 4:3–6
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that
you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one
of you know how to control his own body in
holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like
the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one
transgress and wrong his brother in this matter,
because the Lord is an avenger in all these things,
as we told you beforehand and solemnly warned
you.
19. This Behavior brings wrath on the
Unbeliever!
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for
because of these things the wrath of God comes
upon the sons of disobedience.7 Therefore do
not become partners with them;
Do not partner with Sons of Disobedience.
What about believers that behave like “Son’s of
Disobedience”?
20. The World vs. those that behave like
the world
1 Corinthians 5:9–11
9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with
sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the
sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and
swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need
to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to
you not to associate with anyone who bears the
name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality
or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or
swindler—not even to eat with such a one.
21. Son’s of Disobedience:
Have no inheritance
Bring wrath upon themselves,
Pity them for what they don’t have,
Why would you want what they want, when their
passions will always exceed what they will never have?
The Flesh will never be satisfied!
Video from Fireproof.
22. Why would a Child of Immortality partner
with Children of Immorality?
23. Why Would you partner with them by
behaving like them?
