 My product is an independent product, not
made on a big budget and would have a very
low production budget. Therefore an
independent institution would be ideal to
distribute my product rather than a
conglomerate.
 Small scale romantic comedies usually
become sleeper hits, their are many examples
such as Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994),
My Big Fat Greek Wedding(2001) all which
had been distributed by independent
institutions who are not funded by big

3. Working Title Films
 Working Title Films today may be known as a
subsidiary company of Universal Studios and
Magnolia Pictures but it started out as a
independent company which was later brought by
Universal Studios and shared between Magnolia
Pictures.
 The production company is famous for producing
many romantic comedies which have been
immensely successful globally. An ideal company
to distribute my product as it is already well
known for distributing romantic comedies and has
a reputation for having had distributed the best
romantic comedies in the last two decades.

 Examples of successful films distributed by Working Title
Films are:-
 Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) - One the best
known British romantic comedies. A simple story about a
man and women who meet repeatedly at every wedding
they attend and gradually become acquaintances and
friends after four weddings. Finally they meet at a funeral
and realise they love each other and life is too short. They
marry and the at the end it is shown they have a child
together.
 Bridget Jones Diary (2001)- Based on the bestseller
written by Helen Fielding, the film explores the life of a 30
something women trying to make sense of her life and
trying to find love around her. The film became a box office
hit and is famous for it’s one liners.

5. Film 4 Productions
 Another independent company which distributes
independent films. Film 4 however is famous for
distributing social realism films, however they do
have a large portfolio and is likely to have a few
romantic comedies as a part of it as well. The
company is a part of Film 4 a film channel that
show films regularly. The channel was launched
in 1998.
 Film 4 productions are known to have a share in
distributing many successful films in the UK most
recently 12 Years a Slave (2013) being one of
them.
