What I have learnt fromwatching film openings
- I have watched Trainspotting, Insidious and The Woman in Black opening. From these I
have learnt that the opening of the film sets the tone for the rest of the movie and gives
the audience an insight in what to expect for the rest of the film. It allows me to see the
kind of content I should include within my film opening. It also shows what the big studios
do to engage the audience within the opening section. I found that in the opening of
thriller/horror movies you can’t always tell what genre they are going to be because they
want the audience to think that everything is normal to add suspense but they have a few
mystery/scary clues as to what may happen. A film opening should also back up the rest
of the film and set an atmosphere so that the audience become engaged.
