The police blocked off bridges and used tear gas, rubber bullets, and riot tactics like charging on horseback to control crowds protesting near the Pitt campus library and Cathedral of Learning. Protesters responded by lighting dumpsters on fire and rolling them at police. The situation escalated with police in riot gear and vehicles massing on Forbes Avenue and gassing protesters, making multiple arrests. Damage was also done to local businesses.

1. This is right by the library. The police are blocking off the bridge that goes past phipps. People began to get restless and so they tear gassed the crowd, charged at them on horseback, and then gassed them again.

5. My friends Sam and Julia got tear gassed by the cathedral and also at the union. I think this picture was taken at the cathedral, the first place where they were gassed.

7. They lit the dumpster on fire and rolled it down the street towards the police. I could see this from the window in my lounge.

10. The police used budget trucks to get around en masse. This is them unloading on forbes right in front of the pitt shop. As you can see, they have gas masks on because about a minute later, they gassed us.

14. This took place after I was safely back in my room. Probably around 1am. You can’t see them in this picture, but there were at least 8 kids lined up against the wall in hand-cuffs. I have no idea why they were arreted. There were way more cop cars than this further down 5th avenue, you just can’t see. At one point, an entire motorcade of cop cars came rolling down the street. I lost count after 20.
