What Is The Theme Of The Newsies
Have you ever wanted a movie about a bunch of kids beating the big man, and to top it off, with a
catchy soundtrack? Well, Newsies directed by Kenny Ortega might just be the movie for you.
Newsies has its ups and downs, but overall has an interesting plot with few bumps, fun characters
with thick accents, and a beautiful set with some memorable music.
Newsies takes place in 1899 New York and focuses on a group of kids, specifically Jack Kelly and
David Jacobs, who try to make a living selling newspapers whether it be to help out the family or to
simply survive on their own. However, this becomes increasingly hard when Joseph Pulitzer raises
paper prices to try and give his competition a run for their money. As one can assume, this does not
go over well with the newsies, so banding together, they form a union and go on strike. Overall, I
think that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything looked like what you would expect of the late 1800's. Horse drawn carriages,
suspenders, paved streets, it all really added to the movie and helped the story along instead of
getting in the way. Something that I think genuinely worked in their favor was the contrast between
the wealthy and the poor. Take David's family for example, a family of five living in what looks to
be a studio apartment, maybe a one bedroom and contrast that with Joseph Pulitzer's office at the top
of a tall, domed building finished off with a gold coat. Also, the music used in the background was
nice to help create suspense, I specifically liked how in spots during the second half you could hear
pieces of "Santa Fe" float around. Along with that, this is a musical, songs are a large part of the plot
and how the story is told and I believe that the songs were quite effectful. Songs where all of the
boys sing together, like "The World Will Know" and "Seize the Day", were really strong and gave
you this feeling of power, determination, and readiness for what lies

My Hero
Many people have their own heroes, be it big or small. Heroes who save their lives or make their
lives better or inspire them to do activities. For me, my hero is on a technicality. While I never knew
him personally, he is still responsible for creating a show that inspired me to do animation when I
was little. On top of that, the show this person has created became a very popular and highly
influential force in the pop culture world and became an icon. It touched the hearts of millions in
more ways than one, from bringing either a slight chuckle or a huge impact on a person's life. That
show would be "SpongeBob SquarePants", and that creator would be none other than Stephen
Hillenburg. Stephen McDannell Hillenburg was born on August 21, 1961 at Fort Sill in Lawton,
Oklahoma. He grew up in Anaheim, California, and was fascinated by sea life during his childhood,
influenced by the undersea documentaries by Jacques Cousteau. He attended Humboldt State
University as a marine science major (and minored in art) and earned his bachelor's degree in 1984.
He held a job in the Orange County Marine Institute (now the Ocean Institute) and educated in
marine science. However, in 1987, he left to pursue a career in animation. And in 1989, he enrolled
in the California Institute of the Arts and graduated in 1992. While screening his short films
"Wormholes" and "The Green Beret" in film festivals around 1992, he met Joe Murray, who was
recruiting artists for his new show

Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages, many
adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. SpongeBob Squarepants,
a popular children 's television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for
all ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with
Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the

Persuasive Essay About Courage
As children, we were all mesmerized by the bravery of the superheroes on television. Wide–eyed,
we heard the cheers of the town as they saved the day and vowed to follow their footsteps and
contribute great feats. After we got older, we honored the vows and advanced society, bettered lives,
and left our mark on the world–due to everyday courage. It seems only fitting that we take a
moment to define courage, as courage is more than a superhero. An act of courage is an act that is
risky, but pursued regardless, to fulfill noble intentions. Furthermore, a true act of courage will
satisfy six criteria.
One criterion for courage is the fact that it must involve risk. Assume that a Sea Bear, who loves to
eat sponge cake, thinks SpongeBob Squarepants looks just like yellow cake and has kidnapped
SpongeBob's pet snail Gary! Unarmed, SpongeBob, the little yellow sponge of the sea, treks up a
sea hill to the Bear's cave. The Sea Bear greets SpongeBob with a loud ROAR. Unmoving with
fright, he blinks three times and starts...tickling the bear. Remarkably, his tickle tactic is successful,
and the bear rolls on the floor laughing. Seizing the moment, SpongeBob grabs Gary and runs away.
In this scenario, SpongeBob is courageous, because he acts even though there is a significant chance
the bear will eat SpongeBob. However, if Gary slithered out to the porch and SpongeBob took him
back inside, it is not courageous since it does not involve risk.
Other than involving risk, an actor needs

The Characteristics Of A Hero In Toy Story
What are the characteristic that you think that define someone ?As we look into cartoons, movie
series, fictional characters we may notice that many of them have similar traits as we do. In some we
feel a total connection as we can feel what they are going through. As the middle child in my family
with two brothers and one little sister I have a ton going on. Growing up there was an infinite of
shows to watch and spare time that is unimaginable so as i grow older i only watched those that i felt
identified with onen of the character. Most of the times with wasn't even the main character i
identified with. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Woody from
Toy Story for his, heroic personality that always wants to be the center of attention, Patrick from
Spongebob Squarepants for his laziness that even prevents him from having actual responsibilities,
and Steve from American Dad for his trait of wanting fit in at school and out of school.
Even though Woody is a toy that comes to life when humans aren't around and is a hero to the other
toys In the movie Toy Story, that doesn't mean we don't have a lot in common since we both like to
be the center of attention. In the movie, Woody a toy action figure wants all the attention from andy
the kid that owns him. When Woody finds out that Andys birthday is coming up he worries about
what new toys he is going to get. That's when Buzzlightyear an outer space ranger toy that gained

Characteristics Of Lowbrow Art
Lowbrow Art Lowbrow art is a unique art movement that emerged in the 1970s in the shady corners
of Los Angeles, California. Lowbrow art has many labels such as underground, Neo–pop, and
Nobrow. Also known as pop surrealism, lowbrow art, was inspired by surf culture, punk music,
underground comix, and most importantly, cartoon and comics. Lowbrow art is a movement for the
millions of people who share a common culture. The movement has steadily grown since the 1970s
and isn't going anywhere soon. The pop culture prevalent in lowbrow art differs through each artist
and is represented through their imagery. In this paper, I am going to elaborate on the characteristics
of lowbrow art. Then, compare and contrast two contemporary lowbrow artist's works, Isabel
Samaras and Kenny Scharf (Esaak). Lowbrow art was born underground. Represented as "street"
culture, lowbrow is focused around retro and rebellious pop culture. Artists that created lowbrow
artwork are typically self taught and don't care about the recognition because often there was very
little. Lowbrow artists tend to have a humorous or sarcastic approach in their art. They don't follow
the rules and they enjoy "poking fun at convention." Lowbrow is a broad term that falls in between
fine art such as museum art and low art such as tattoos. Many artists fall under this category but are
drastically different from each other. Lowbrow art has been branching off into different forms and
styles since its creation. This results

No Constraints: The Exorcist
No Constraints I was about eight years old when my brother and I ran out of our house screaming
when we saw Regan from The Exorcist doing a spider walk down the stairs with blood coming out
of her mouth. When interviewing my mom, she said "I didn't have concerns with what you were
watching or doing on the computer. I trusted you." My mother was very lenient when managing my
media use because I could watch any television show, any movie, and play any video game I
wanted. I was also allowed to search anything I wanted on our computer and I received my first
phone in elementary school, demonstrating that I lacked media regulation. Firstly, I was allowed to
watch any television show I wanted. When I was super young, I mainly watched Barney. ... Show

years older than me and we loved watching horror movies as kids. My mom said she allowed this
because we "didn't have nightmares." I actually remember a dream I had where Michael Myers was
protecting me. Horror movies scared my brother more than they did me. The only movie to scare me
to this day is The Exorcist. I remember watching Scarface when I was younger and thinking Al
Pacino was cute. I have no idea why I thought that since I no longer feel that way. I also thought
George Clooney was cute in Dusk Till Dawn. I do not think that now. I have no idea what was
wrong with me. I had a TV in my room by age eight. I remember finding a documentary about John
Wayne Gacy, which sparked my interest in documentaries and learning about creepy people. Back to
my John Cena obsession, for Christmas one year, I asked for a three–disk John Cena biography. I

Squidward Tentacles While SpongeBob is the embodiment of children and the rebellious brand
Nickelodeon is trying to articulate to their young viewers, not every character in the show shares
SpongeBob sense of adventure and fun as he does. Unlike SpongeBob, characters such as Mr. Krabs
and Squidward oppose SpongeBob's uniqueness and strengths. They do not understand SpongeBob,
similar to how Nickelodeon is trying to brand the "us vs. them" rhetoric between children and
adults. Nickelodeon wants children to believe that while adults, such as the one represented by a
character, Squidward, do not understand them, Nickelodeon and characters such as SpongeBob do.

If we take SpongeBob as the representation of children in the adult world, then surely, Squidward
represents the adults in the way that Nickelodeon would like to show them. Sarah Banet–Weiser
pointed out that the "Nickelodeon's brand identity: the Us vs. Them philosophy, wherein kids are
'oppressed' in an adult world; and the Nickelodeon Nation, in which the network can be a 'home' or
neighborhood" (Banet–Weiser, 2007, p. 238). As representing the adults of the world, Squidward is
displaying to the children viewers that Nickelodeon supports the children when SpongeBob prevails
over Squidward, the character whom represent the adults Nickelodeon wants to blame for who are
trying to oppress the children viewers.
Children viewers could relate to SpongeBob and use Squidward as the representation for what they
oppose, just as Nickelodeon's rebellious brand is hoping to instill in its viewers. In the episode of
SpongeBob Squarepants, "Bubblestand," SpongeBob successful hold a stand to blow bubbles and
shows Patrick how to do it. Squidward is immediately dismissive of them, yet is still curious about
blowing a bubble (Yasumi, July 17, 1999). After failed attempts,

Stereotypes In Animation
A valid complaint about animation that is rarely addressed is the reinforcement of gender roles and
racial stereotypes. Though violence, obesity, commercialization, and short attention spans are also
legitimate complaints, the issues of race relations and gender roles create widespread effects. This is
not an issue specific to animation; it is prevalent in all forms of entertainment. Yet if we, as a
culture, are to remove these issues from our media, we should be focusing on changing perceptions
of the youngest members of our culture. A large issue with children's cartoons is a lack of valid
representation. (Parasecoli FIND DATE) What little representation that exists borders on
stereotypes, and is catered towards white culture. This underrepresentation is prevalent even in the
advertisements of children's programs. Few commercials feature people of color, and those that do
typically retain a white child in a position of power. (Merskin 2008) The lack of representation is so
great that it has spawned the term "Symbolic annihilation." (Klien Shiffman 2009) Those who
consume more media are more vulnerable to this tacit confirmation of some groups as unimportant.
(Klien Shiffman 2009) Because "Children's television exposure begins in infancy and persists
throughout their lifetimes... what is learned during the early years is critical." ... Show more content

We decided to go on an airboat tour because it was fun, and I didn't want to do a walking tour for
three hours. In case you didn't know, an airboat is essentially an inflated life raft with a giant fan
strapped on the back to propel it through the water. It can't go under the water because it has to go
through a swamp, and an underwater propeller would get caught on plants and get stuck. Our airboat
was quite small and could only fit about ten people, but I also saw others that were huge and could
hold about fifty people. The ride was exciting and fun, but a lot of somewhat unfortunate things
happened. Firstly, I didn't put my earplugs in because they were uncomfortable, so I may or may not
have permanently damaged my ears. Also, an alligator tried to bite my hand when I tried to feed it.
And a bird pooped right next to me. At the time, I thought these things were unlucky like most
people would have. However, as time passed, I looked back at my experience and realized that I was
looking at it from the wrong angle. In addition to all of the bad things, there were also so many
positive things that occurred that day. For example, I got to hear the giant fan at full blast, which
was fun because it sounded super cool. Also, I was able to pet a wild baby alligator, and I even got
to hold a domesticated baby one in my arms. As SpongeBob once said, "You never know the true

Cartoon Violence
Cartoons on a television are glue to children. Children will spend hours a day watching their favorite
cartoons, such as "SpongeBob SquarePants" or "Adventure Time." Unfortunately, the content on
these shows, and several others, can harm children. Directly, cartoons can affect how children think
and act; additionally, this leads to the indirect effect of children physically hurting one another.
Children daily see hundreds of violent acts on television. Most parents notice the obvious acts of
gore and try to avoid those types of shows; however, what parents do not realize is that cartoons
contain just as much, if not more, violence per episode. When parents see shows such as
"SpongeBob SquarePants," for example, they seem more comical ... Show more content on

Therefore, the children that do become used to the violence do not realize how much they are
absorbing, and are thus more likely to keep watching and increase the damage already inflicted onto
their minds. Additionally, younger children who watch violent cartoons tend to believe they can
mimic what is on screen. A news story in China where children attempted to mimic their favorite
cartoon with near fatal consequences reads:
"The Li brothers' tragedy began one fine April afternoon with a bit of play–acting. When 10–year–
old Shun Shun ran into eight–year–old Li Haoran and his little brother Li Hao, four, just outside of
their village of Mawang, near Lianyungang in Jiangsu province, the three friends decided to play a
game. They would act out the big wolf roasting the lamb – an idea the boys later said they got from
the popular children's television series Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf. Taking the role of wolf,
Shun Shun used some scrap cloth he found nearby to tie the two brothers to a tree. After piling some
dried leaves around their feet, he set it alight. Within minutes, strong gusts of wind blew the fire out
of control. The terrified Shun Shun ran away, leaving the Li boys screaming for help. A passing
villager heard their cries and rushed to help. But by the time flames were put out, the brothers were
severely burned. The boys were rushed to the county hospital and transferred on the same night to a
city hospital, which had better facilities. For a month, it

Exposing Our Children to Subliminal Messages
President Herbert Hoover once said that, "Children are our most valuable resource." Everybody
knows the saying "The children are our future." If everyone knows this saying than why are parents
exposing our future to inappropriate and explicit content. This is because most people do not realize
the explicit content their children are being exposed to. The shows, movies, and even commercials
children are watching effect not only their actions and thought process but can also effect the future
decisions and choices they make. From the day we are born to the day we die we have seen many
different movies and seen many different TV shows; while we are watching and hearing these
through our own eyes and ears we do not truly realize what our brains are consuming, because in
reality we are viewing and hearing much more than we can naturally see. Subliminal messages are
prearranged thoughts or ideas placed into the subconscious mind. Subliminal messages involve
reacting to stimuli that are above your physiological threshold but below your perceptual thresholds.
So basically your brain processes the messages without you knowing. The two main types of
subliminal messaging are auditory and visual. In these two categories there are also subcategories.
According to Anthony Pratkanis and Anthony Greenwald, who are Psychology professors, have
defined these four different subcategories as: Subthreshold stimuli which are presented at energy
levels too weak to be detected by the audience.

"Madison Carter! I know you were the class clown! Don't try to fool me!" my husband Johnny Flash

thirty, remember?" I reminded him. "I thought that was next week!" he sighed. "No! It is tonight, so

peacock feathers coming out the sides and the bottom of the dress. The peacock feathers really
brought out the blue in my eyes, and the brown made the low–lights in my hair stand out. The
organic peacock feather earrings I bought at "Bird Barn" were a stunning touch, if I do say so

I flipped to the back of the book, where all of the pictures from events throughout the year had been

other professionals such as Clancy Brown. Other versions of the SpongeBob movie were released in

First, its unparalleled appeal to both the children and the adult majority thrusted it to the spotlight

Second, the movie received a widespread marketing across many television channels. It is estimated
that it was aired for more than 100 000 minutes across the television channels. Third, the setting of
SpongeBob was also appealing to a wide audience not because of the marine setting, but the ability

In the episode "Rock–a–bye Bi–valve", Spongebob and Patrick discover a baby clam out in the
wilderness alone without any parents and they decide to raise it as their own. Purely for comic relief,
the show depicts Spongebob and Patrick taking on the parental roles: Patrick as the dad and
Spongebob as the mom. This seems harmless in the beginning, but later in the episode begins to turn
into very common stereotypes. Patrick goes off to work, leaving Spongebob to take care of the clam,
clean the house, and cook dinner. Every night he returns from work "exhausted" and cannot help
take care of this clam that he equally agreed to raise. Think about the message it is showing young
boys. For boys, if they grow up and get a job that they work hard at they do not have to help around
the house. They can go off to work and come home late at night, hold there kid for a bit, and then
just sit down. Leaving the woman (Spongebob in this case) to do all the housework, stay at home,
and provide all the nurturing. In A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, this is the behavior that made the
main character, Nora, become so annoyed that she decided to abandon her family and find go off in

SEXISM, RACISM AND STEREOTYPES IN SOUTH PARK
Racial Stereotyping, racism, gender stereotyping and sexism are some of the strengths of South
Park. This TV show was created with a purpose to make racism and sexism funny and acceptable.
South Park is a television show that was created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It circumvents the
lives of 4 boys namely Eric Cartmen, Kenny McCormick, Stan Marsh and Kyle Broflovski around
the town of Colorado. This show mainly aims at picking up various stereotypes in different societies
and making fun of them. It is highly racist and makes fun of different genders and performs the act

Analysing the character of Stan Marsh. This character has been modeled around Trey Parker and
obviously is one of the more stable characters of the show whereas Kyle is modeled after Matt Stone
and this character also displays a certain amount of stability. Throughout the series there are
accounts of his deep friendship between Stan and Kyle. Since the creators are best friends from
college, in many of the episodes there is a reference to their undying friendship, They have their
fights but they do so without having any long–term effect on their friendship. Stan also maintained a
close relation with Kenny and at many a times Kenny has confessed, "Stan is the best friend a guy
could ever have." Stan is also the only character who has a stable relationship with Wendy. All in all
he portrays a much subtle version of the characters of South Park. But at the same time Stan is foul
mouthed, what the creator are trying to show is how young boys speak to each other when they are
alone.
Kyle Broflovski is based on Matt Stone and displays great signs of friendship with Stan Marsh. Kyle
is also know as the "only the Jewish kid." He is one of the sober characters on screen as he portrays
to be very smart and intelligent and uses it to solve problems in a more moral and ethical manner

Essay On Spongebob
"Who lives in a pineapple under the sea? Absorbent and yellow and porous is he... if nautical
nonsense be something you wish... then drop on the deck and flop like a fish." This silly song is
heard in millions of households daily, it is excerpts from the infamous Spongebob Squarepants
theme song. Spongebob is a cartoon that depicts the mindless adventures of an animated sponge
named Spongebob Squarepants and his friends in the fictional town of Bikini Bottom. While this is
a children's show from Nickelodeon, Spongebob Squarepants, surprisingly offers a profound
commentary on society and human interactions through characters, themes, and satire. The

Squidward is extremely not self–aware as he thinks he is talented at dance and clarinet, when in
reality he is awful at both. There are plenty of people in society who have narcissistic tendencies,
but in actuality have little talent, like the Kardashians. However, deep down Squidward does care
about Spongebob and the others, he just likes to put up a tough front. Sandy is a squirrel from Texas
who lives in an air–locked tree dome and wears a helmet and suit, so she can breathe underwater.
She is a karate master and exceptionally smart. She is very much an outsider in Bikini Bottom, but
everyone respects her wisdom. The characters in Bikini Bottom regularly run on emotions and make
stupid decisions, so she is the rational voice among the chaos. This attribute can be seen through
advisors, who are supposed to help leaders make sane decisions. Also, teachers can be represented
by Sandy because of the wisdom and information they teach students and the guidance they offer.
Patrick is Spongebob's best friend, and together they partake in many mindless adventures, often to
the chagrin of others especially Squidward. He has an overly exaggerated dumb persona, but is
loveable at the same time. He is Spongebob's faithful sidekick and extremely loyal. However, he
unintendedly takes advantage of Spongebob, eating his food and taking his stuff. Patrick represents
that one friend that overstays their welcome at your house, or always makes

Table Tennis And Ping Pong
Why is table table tennis so similar to ping pong? Well they are exactly the same thing! Table tennis/
ping pong began in the 1880s, and was later trademarked in the United states by Parker Brothers, the
board game company. "Like most other sports, table tennis had humble beginnings as a "parlor
game"" but really it was open to anyone with access to a table, paddle, and a ball. In 1922, The
Ping–Pong Association was formed but got renamed to The Table Tennis Association because they
are the same thing. Over the years table tennis popularity grew, table tennis became so popular
because "In 1902 a visiting Japanese university professor took the game back to Japan, where he
introduced it to university students. Shortly after, a British salesman, Edward Shires, introduced it to
the people of Vienna and Budapest, [ . . . ]." Due to the popularity of table tennis and how successful
it became it in 1902 the sport ended up going to Japan due to a Japanese University professor that
was visiting. He liked the game so much that when he went back to Japan he introduced it to his
university students. The sport also ended up going to Britain and spread pretty far to the Sunderland
and Plymouth. "In 1922, an All England Club was formed, which boasted such luminaries as Jack
Hobbs the cricketer and other famous names of the time from the world of sport" The sport was so
popular it was like modern day drugs (DON'T DO DRUGS! I AM NOT PROMOTING DRUGS

Racial Identity And Gender Identity
In a recent South Park episode, titles "The Cissy", in order for his own personal gain to use the girls'
bathroom and later to receive his own bathroom, Cartman dons a pink bow on his head to become
"Erica." Meanwhile, Randy Marsh (as known as Lorde to most and Stan's dad) must battle with his
gender identity and that of his music as women at his work are uncomfortable with sharing a
bathroom with him, therefore he must receive his own against his wishes. While both Cartman's and
Randy Marsh's struggles with their gender identity revolve around the use of a bathroom, through
the juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and becoming transgender, the symbolism of
the "executive bathroom," and the final scene of Stan singing in the bathroom designated for
"Cissys'" reveal society's inability to comprehend gender– identity struggles, thus exposing the
uselessness of gender– labeling. The juxtaposition of the actions of shooting a school and wearing a
bow cause laughter from the audience thus revealing society's inability to comprehend the
seriousness of both actions. In the beginning of the episode, the audience is shown a scene of Eric
Cartman contemplating what the audience assumes is a school shooting, for he says "They've
laughed at me, poked fun at me... They don't know what's in my right pocket but they'll know soon
enough and they'll pay," (The Cissy). This, coupled with the menacing music playing in the
background, further emphasizes the importance of Cartman's

How Does Television Affect Kids Today? As a child wakes up every morning, their first action of
the day, is to usually walk downstairs and click on the television and the parent usually wakes up to
the sound of their child's favorite television show blasting throughout their house. And as the parent
walks down the stairs, the child is sitting in front of the television both eyes glued to the screen and
the parents begin to think about how much time they have to themselves in the morning. But in that
time that the parent is using for themselves; the child is being entertained by the television; that
television maybe entertaining the child but it could be possibly hurting their development. This has
lead researchers, and health practitioners to invesigate how these changes may be influencing
children's development. The television could be more harmful than anyone could ever realize for a
number of reasons The important thing to recognize the relationships between the television and
children's development, is influential. These developmental problems can include giving false
hopes, making kids less intelligent, hiding adult humor in the dialogue. The level of influence
however, varies on the age of the child because of the way they are developing. And because they
are still developing, they can give kids things like false hope, making them less intelligent, and
hiding adult humor in dialogue. Most children

Media Role Models and the Effect on Children
Media construct our culture, and the media we use to communicate with one another shapes our
perception of reality. Our society is centered on media, it is the most influential factor in
constructing our culture, but is it a positive culture? If we examine the effect that media has on
children, we can say that it breeds a harmful culture, one that throws values and morals out the
window. This is because the media is profit driven and has developed its own code of ethics of
"anything–goes". As a result, children are exposed to things that they should not necessarily be
exposed to yet and as a result it rushes their mental development and in fact moulds their mentality.
This is a scary fact because these children's minds are susceptible ... Show more content on

Another example we could look at is Britney Spears, young girls who like Britney Spears think that
she is ‘cool' and thus they strive to be just like her, and this involves acting like Britney and more
importantly buying Britney Spears products such as her clothing. So in conclusion these media
personalities are popular among children and idolized by them because they are promoted as being
cool and for a child to be cool they must be just like them, which involves buying their products.
These media personalities are in essence products themselves that the media bodies try to sell to
children on the basis of ‘cool', and once they can be sold to the children as being cool, their entire
franchise benefits because their image can create the demand for all products with their likeness.
Now let's look at the effect that these media personalities have on children in the age group 5 and
under. We assume that children are safe watching educational programming such as "Blue's Clues",
"Dora the explorer" and "Teletubbies", but are they really as safe as we think they are. First off,
these types of television shows are educational and do in fact teach young children while keeping
them entertained. This can be seen as a positive influence on our kids and these characters as being

Spongebob And My Family
In February of 2002 I was three, and my family and I had just settled into our new house in West

eye, two prominent front teeth, three freckles on each cheek; he wore a shirt with a red tie, brown
trousers held up by a black belt and black shoes.

Culture Vs American Culture
I can vividly recall one warm summer night in Dallas,Texas when my entire family and I were
huddled around a tiny 27–inch television. We were anxiously watching one of the most infamous
rivalries in sport: India versus Pakistan. I did not quite understand what was happening in the match,
but judging by the anxious look on my family's faces, I could tell that the game was very close and
intense. I remember my dad and uncles talking about strategies Pakistan should use to win, debating
back and forth on what would be the best move. Unfortunately, moments later, everybody went
quiet, as only sighs and groans filled the room. Pakistan had just lost. Seeing the somber faces
around the room, I realized how important cricket was to my family, and how it was a pivotal aspect
of their collective identity; how a simple sporting match was able to bring people together, ... Show

A part of that has to do with learning the varying differences between Pakistani and American
culture. For example, while most children were watching cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants or
simply American sports, I remember watching Cricket (the most popular sport in Pakistan) and a
South Asian crime drama, called "CID". While some of my friends would have meatloaf for dinner,
I would have Pakistani dishes like Nihari and Biryani. I communicated with my parents almost
exclusively in Urdu, the official language of Pakistan. And while most of my friends would go to a
church in a suit and tie, I would go to a mosque, wearing a traditional Pakistani outfit, known as a

Personal Narrative Essay : The Love Of My Father
Being a little girl all I ever really wanted was a father that is was there for me. Growing up I was
one of those depressed girls who never got to experience the love of her father. Never got to feel the
warmth of my father's hug after a long day. Never experiencing the love and protection from him.
Leaving me to question why he was my father for the rest of my life... This is my personal narrative
and I will be telling you about the time my father stood me up.
To take you back to that gloomy day in my life it was October 25, 2012 exactly one day before my
13th birthday. Just 24 hours before I will be identified as a teenage, I was so excited and looking
forward to the day ahead. That Friday morning started off so bright and promising. I recall this day
so well because it was character day at school and I had decided to arrive at school dressed as the
almighty Spongebob Squarepants. The school day ended so swiftly not even remembering what
events had that day. When I finally arrived home after being on an overcrowded bus all I could hear
is "Did you have a good day at school?" my mother yelled I relied with a head shake and said, " Yes,
everybody liked my outfit today."
Shortly after arriving home my mother offered me to ride along with her. Me being the person I am,
I never give up an opportunity to go somewhere. While in the car going potential deaf with how
loud I had the radio, I surprisingly got a call from my father telling me he wanted to get me for my
birthday weekend. I can remember me telling my mother when she arrived back in the car and her
debating whether or not to let me go. I begged for hours seemed like, telling her I will be okay he is
my father, he is going to take care of me. I believe she only agreed to let me go out of aggravation,
but she made it very clear with her eyebrows raised and her eyes wide open that i can only stay for
one night. I was still so eager to go, never actually spending time with my father. I thought this
would change our relationship for the better. Boy was I so wrong.
Packing my bag and visualizing what our time together would be like. My mother came into my
room and said " Do you have everything you need? Your father said he would be here at 8." I replied

Kenny Chesney
Introduction:
"No shoes, No shirt, No problems. Blues what blues...hey I forgot them. The sun and the sand and a

These are the lyrics of infamous country legend Kenney Chesney. Kenney Chesney is a leading
artist in the country music industry. Earlier in his life, he experienced several set backs and
disappointments on his way to becoming a country singer. Nashville, TN was very difficult on this
young song writer, as it was the same to others. However, with persistants and dedication, Kenny

Chris Stapleton's Music Analysis
Chris Stapleton released his debut album, Traveller, in the Spring of 2015. This album is
characterized by what I would describe as a traditional country feel, but with a slightly more modern
sound, or to be more technical, a country rock meets blues album. This record, and Chris Stapleton
himself, went relatively unnoticed by the general public after initial release. It was not until the 2015
CMA awards when Stapleton performed "Tennessee Whiskey" with Justin Timberlake that his
album truly took off (Welch). Since then, songs from Traveller can frequently be heard on national
country radio stations, as well as on tour, a show I will be attending in May. The reason I chose to
review Traveller is because "Tennessee Whiskey" sucker punched me in the best way possible. By
this I mean that before I heard the song, I had been ignoring most new country music and artists

delivery of the song. "Sometimes I Cry" is one of the most vocally profound country songs I have
ever found. The first time I listened to it, I genuinely got chills as the whole song is such an
experience. The vocals of this song are similar to Jackie Wilson's song "Please Tell Me Why," as
both are weeper style, though Stapleton's is a more subdued version of it. This song best exemplifies
his range on Traveller as it is easy to tell that he puts everything into

Rick And Murty Moral Analysis
Rick and Morty: Adventures Through Space and Morality
Through the invention of the television, the art of animation was able to transition from the big
screen to the small screen. Serialized animated adventures boomed in the 80's and 90's as a market
to pander for children, with dry, easy to follow storylines and bright flashing colors – no room for
adult humor or ideas. However, just as the medium changed from film to television, the medium of
cartoons has changed as well, opening up for innovative, if at times crude, animated series. Among
this new influx of shows, one space time adventure has emerged to set itself apart from the usual
lineup of grown–up cartoons. Rick and Morty has proven to be one of the most entertaining adult
cartoon show with its engaging story and characters, witty commentary, and its clever use of science
fiction tropes and dark comedy to balance the two.

of much depth. Yet some surprising emotion can be found amongst the ... Show more content on

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Vs. Generic Brand
Everyone has his or her own personal preference towards buying generic or name brand products.
When shopping in a grocery store does the type of pasta really matter to you? How about the type of
macaroni and cheese you reach for? Same ingredients, same directions on how to mix and stir up the
final manufactured goods but is it really the "same". To a lot of people it might not make a
difference, but like me, a lot of people prefer spending the extra 50 cents on a box of "Kraft
Macaroni and Cheese" and it's worth every penny. Is it the taste that you are paying for? Or maybe
it's the quality of the product that you're basing it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Kraft Company has been around for a long time now. Personally I believe you must have a
protective firm, not allowing other companies to steal your ideas and product. This will give the firm
advantage over others. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is dominating the market with almost 1 million
boxes sold a day. They have to keep up their revenue by attracting a new fan base. Shapes and
designs of pasta are surprisingly essential for Kraft. Over 2000 patents of shaped macaroni and
cheese have been officially signed for and used, only about 280 have been obtained by Kraft
Macaroni and Cheese. One of their biggest selling characters and patents is SpongeBob Square
Pants, a TV show that has been on air for about 12 years now. Kids thrive for the little macaroni
shapes of SpongeBob, Sandy, Patrick, and Mr. Crabs. When Kraft came out with these shapes they
couldn't produce enough of them for mom's and their kids. Sales rocketed through the roof and Kraft
Macaroni and Cheese monopolized the competition with this brand new shape that no one else could
use. Knowing exactly what to market at a specific time is huge when it comes to any company that
wants to be successful. This is what sets them apart from the rest and has given them that extra
economic profit. Macaroni shapes are not the only ingredients that set them apart from the rest.

The cartoon of the yellow sponge living in a pineapple under the sea was never meant to be a kid's

kids' networks. Of course, our dear children, innocent and ignorant of the hidden message inside the

Comparing Frankenstein And Frankendoodle And Frankenstein
Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages many
adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. Spongebob Squarepants,
a popular children's television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for
all ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with
Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the
similarities and difference between the two texts; "Frankendoodle" as well as "Frankenstein". By
looking at the allusion apparent in "Frankendoodle", it is clear to see that many of the more
popularized characteristics are found throughout the text, such as; a name given to the creature, the
creature being aggressive thoughtless monster, and the creator having a sidekick. Fundamentally, the
idea of a creature being born into this world through unconventional means is clearly demonstrated
in both texts. "Frankendoodle" shadows Mary Shelley's original text, "Frankenstein" but allows it to
highlight the "Frankenstein" that was born through many forms of popular culture.
Spongebob Squarepants is a children's television show that aired periodically from the early 1990's

going to pick me. Naturally, I was filled with joy because I was going to leave school early, but a
question popped into mind. Why did I need to go to the principal's office? I disregarded the thought
and packed up my things. I slowly walked to principal's office with my head down and thoughts
rushing through my mind. What had happened? Is everything all right? Yet, the questions did not
help the situations, for none of my questions were going to get answered any time soon. Once I
finally put my head up, I had arrived. I gradually reached for the door in fear of what was to come. I
opened the door to find the exact picture I was hoping not to see. My sister was sobbing while my
mom was shouting in rapid Spanish. "What is wrong with you?" howled my mom.
"I was just kissing a boy! It is not like I am selling drugs or something!" replied my sister. "For all I
know you could be because it seems like I don't you anymore!" Confusion devoured me. I was
eagerly trying to figure everything, but I was too young to put this puzzle together.

Family Guy And Spongebob
When I was a young child around the years between seven and twelve, I used to come home from
school and watch Family Guy. My mom would often catch me watching this show and yell at me,
but to be honest I thought it was funny. So I told my dad that I was watching Family Guy quite often
and he didn't even care, so it all worked out. One thing that I noticed through all of this, is that I
knew I was watching a great cartoon when I would watch ut over and over again and feel
entertained by it. That's what i did all the time with Family Guy and Spongebob and other various
cartoons. I would come home and watch them and even watch these shows before school to get me
motivated for the day. Not only did I love the creativity, but the humor and great ... Show more

For example, Squidward from Spongebob because Spongebob is literally always getting in
Squidward's way and always bothering Squidward, so he is never able to get a break or peace for an
extended time so he is always fighting for it. Another character that tries to solve his personal
problems throughout the show is Kyle from South Park. Not only does Kyle have to deal with his
parents always getting in the way of what he is trying to do, but Kyle also has to deal with Cartman's
harassment to him all the time. Kyle is just trying to live a happy, peaceful, normal child's life but
these characters are always in the way in a comical way. The Third and final example of how great
cartoons always have a character solving a personal problem is Danny Phantom. Danny is just trying
to live the normal teenage life and get through school, but these pesky ghosts keep on coming and
trying to harass him and terrorize the school or his friends. Danny basically never gets a break and
that is kind of annoying for him, but it is a crucial part of the show. These are examples of how all
great cartoons are considered great cartoons because they have the one characters that always are
trying to solve their personal

Creative Writing: Tom's Cabin
It was a stormy night in august on the year 1880. There was lightning shooting across the sky
lighting up the night like a flickering light bulb. There was a man walking across the Nevada
landscape, in his long black trench coat soaked to the bone with his black cowboy hat covering his
face just enough to cover his eyes. His colt 45 revolver glimmering on his hip from the lightning. He
was approaching a lone house out in the Distance. It was a small 2 room log cabin with a man, his
wife, and their 6 year old son Inside. The cabin was a dark mossy brown wood with a rock chimney
and mud packed in the cracks to keep the rain and wind out. It had one window near the door. As the
man approached the cabin his pace never faltered he was heading straight ... Show more content on

The purple and orange in the sky, the sun was just over the horizon. "Let's get back to the house
then, i fear that's not going to be the last we see of him." Tom went to stand and dropped to the
ground in pain, the pain was so agonizing. During the struggle Tom did not realize that his leg and
been broken to the point where the bone is protruding from the skin, with muscle clinging to the
bone, blood gushing with every beat of his heart. The pain was so agonizing Tom wish to just end
his life there to stop the suffering. Kenny puked when he noticed the blood and bone protruding
from it. "I can't walk to the house kenny." Said Tom.''Don't worry tom i'll find something to help you
get to the house." Kenny hands tom the 30/30 he used and left to go find something to help tom.
Tom laid there wondering if his family was ok if they were even still alive Tom could not wait. He
summoned all his strength to push himself to his knees he propped himself up on the rifle in his
hand putting the butt of the gun in the dirt as he pushed to his feet. When tom got to his feet he
hobbled to the the towards the house. Blood draining from his broken leg, nose and lip. As he passed
the barn he looked back one last time to see if anyone was around. Tom worn of all energy had to
rest on the rifle when he looked around making sure he was alone he saw an odd sight on the side of
his smoke shack. He knew he had to investigate, He limped over to find Kenny dismantled,
beheaded, and stripped of all his flesh. His arms, legs and head were nailed all over the shed, his
torso split open with entrails clinging to the fat. Tom bursts into

Footloose Movie Analysis
Footloose "Tonight I gotta cut loose, footloose, kick off my sunday shoes. Jack, get back, come on
before we crack." (Footloose, Kenny Loggins) For this essay, I chose to watch Footloose made in
1984 and directed by Herbert Ross and Footloose made in 2011 directed by Craig Brewer. Both
movies centered around the town of Bomont, a secluded town with out of the ordinary beliefs. In
this town, dancing and partying of any sort was strictly against the law and teenagers were
seemingly miserable. There was little to no self expression and even listening to provocative music
or any music too loud, could get you a ticket with a hefty fine. The reason behind the strict rules is
that several years back, five teens from Bomont High School died in a car wreck after they were
drinking and dancing too much. Each of these movies have some things in common, but have more
differences than anything. Some of the main differences are the opening credits of each movie, how
and who Ren arrives to Bomont at the beginning of the movie, the "chicken" races between Ren and
Jeff, and the book burning in town square. In the 1984 version, the movie opens with the song
"Footloose" and the first thing the viewers see is the shoes and feet of many different people
dancing. One of the major things that you notice is the type and style of the shoes such as leg
warmers and socks with heels which tells you what era the movie was made in. As the credits roll
across the screen, the music continues to

What Is The Theme Of The Newsies

  • 1. What Is The Theme Of The Newsies Have you ever wanted a movie about a bunch of kids beating the big man, and to top it off, with a catchy soundtrack? Well, Newsies directed by Kenny Ortega might just be the movie for you. Newsies has its ups and downs, but overall has an interesting plot with few bumps, fun characters with thick accents, and a beautiful set with some memorable music. Newsies takes place in 1899 New York and focuses on a group of kids, specifically Jack Kelly and David Jacobs, who try to make a living selling newspapers whether it be to help out the family or to simply survive on their own. However, this becomes increasingly hard when Joseph Pulitzer raises paper prices to try and give his competition a run for their money. As one can assume, this does not go over well with the newsies, so banding together, they form a union and go on strike. Overall, I think that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everything looked like what you would expect of the late 1800's. Horse drawn carriages, suspenders, paved streets, it all really added to the movie and helped the story along instead of getting in the way. Something that I think genuinely worked in their favor was the contrast between the wealthy and the poor. Take David's family for example, a family of five living in what looks to be a studio apartment, maybe a one bedroom and contrast that with Joseph Pulitzer's office at the top of a tall, domed building finished off with a gold coat. Also, the music used in the background was nice to help create suspense, I specifically liked how in spots during the second half you could hear pieces of "Santa Fe" float around. Along with that, this is a musical, songs are a large part of the plot and how the story is told and I believe that the songs were quite effectful. Songs where all of the boys sing together, like "The World Will Know" and "Seize the Day", were really strong and gave you this feeling of power, determination, and readiness for what lies ... • 3. My Hero Many people have their own heroes, be it big or small. Heroes who save their lives or make their lives better or inspire them to do activities. For me, my hero is on a technicality. While I never knew him personally, he is still responsible for creating a show that inspired me to do animation when I was little. On top of that, the show this person has created became a very popular and highly influential force in the pop culture world and became an icon. It touched the hearts of millions in more ways than one, from bringing either a slight chuckle or a huge impact on a person's life. That show would be "SpongeBob SquarePants", and that creator would be none other than Stephen Hillenburg. Stephen McDannell Hillenburg was born on August 21, 1961 at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma. He grew up in Anaheim, California, and was fascinated by sea life during his childhood, influenced by the undersea documentaries by Jacques Cousteau. He attended Humboldt State University as a marine science major (and minored in art) and earned his bachelor's degree in 1984. He held a job in the Orange County Marine Institute (now the Ocean Institute) and educated in marine science. However, in 1987, he left to pursue a career in animation. And in 1989, he enrolled in the California Institute of the Arts and graduated in 1992. While screening his short films "Wormholes" and "The Green Beret" in film festivals around 1992, he met Joe Murray, who was recruiting artists for his new show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Frankendoodle And Frankenstein Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages, many adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. SpongeBob Squarepants, a popular children 's television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for all ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the similarities and differences between the two texts; "Frankendoodle" as well as "Frankenstein". By looking at the allusion apparent in "Frankendoodle", it is clear to see that many of the more popularized characteristics are found throughout the text, ... As both Patrick and Spongebob watch their creation scare their neighbour, Squidward is being brutally beaten by Doodlebob. It 's revealed that both Spongebob and Patrick are completely terrified of Doodlebob, and Patrick outright refuses to confront him, until being convinced by Spongebob. At this point in the text, Doodlebob has stolen the pencil that gave him life and even recreates Spongebob 's house, proving that although he is unable to communicate, he bares enough intelligence to be spiteful of his creator. Spongebob gains the upper hand while all three dual for the ownage of the magic pencil and erases DoodleBob face while exclaiming: "I brought you into this world and now I 'm gonna take you out. • 7. Persuasive Essay About Courage As children, we were all mesmerized by the bravery of the superheroes on television. Wide–eyed, we heard the cheers of the town as they saved the day and vowed to follow their footsteps and contribute great feats. After we got older, we honored the vows and advanced society, bettered lives, and left our mark on the world–due to everyday courage. It seems only fitting that we take a moment to define courage, as courage is more than a superhero. An act of courage is an act that is risky, but pursued regardless, to fulfill noble intentions. Furthermore, a true act of courage will satisfy six criteria. One criterion for courage is the fact that it must involve risk. Assume that a Sea Bear, who loves to eat sponge cake, thinks SpongeBob Squarepants looks just like yellow cake and has kidnapped SpongeBob's pet snail Gary! Unarmed, SpongeBob, the little yellow sponge of the sea, treks up a sea hill to the Bear's cave. The Sea Bear greets SpongeBob with a loud ROAR. Unmoving with fright, he blinks three times and starts...tickling the bear. Remarkably, his tickle tactic is successful, and the bear rolls on the floor laughing. Seizing the moment, SpongeBob grabs Gary and runs away. In this scenario, SpongeBob is courageous, because he acts even though there is a significant chance the bear will eat SpongeBob. However, if Gary slithered out to the porch and SpongeBob took him back inside, it is not courageous since it does not involve risk. Other than involving risk, an actor needs ... • 9. The Characteristics Of A Hero In Toy Story What are the characteristic that you think that define someone ?As we look into cartoons, movie series, fictional characters we may notice that many of them have similar traits as we do. In some we feel a total connection as we can feel what they are going through. As the middle child in my family with two brothers and one little sister I have a ton going on. Growing up there was an infinite of shows to watch and spare time that is unimaginable so as i grow older i only watched those that i felt identified with onen of the character. Most of the times with wasn't even the main character i identified with. The three fictional characters that most represent my personality are Woody from Toy Story for his, heroic personality that always wants to be the center of attention, Patrick from Spongebob Squarepants for his laziness that even prevents him from having actual responsibilities, and Steve from American Dad for his trait of wanting fit in at school and out of school. Even though Woody is a toy that comes to life when humans aren't around and is a hero to the other toys In the movie Toy Story, that doesn't mean we don't have a lot in common since we both like to be the center of attention. In the movie, Woody a toy action figure wants all the attention from andy the kid that owns him. When Woody finds out that Andys birthday is coming up he worries about what new toys he is going to get. That's when Buzzlightyear an outer space ranger toy that gained popularity. Andy gives ... • 11. Characteristics Of Lowbrow Art Lowbrow Art Lowbrow art is a unique art movement that emerged in the 1970s in the shady corners of Los Angeles, California. Lowbrow art has many labels such as underground, Neo–pop, and Nobrow. Also known as pop surrealism, lowbrow art, was inspired by surf culture, punk music, underground comix, and most importantly, cartoon and comics. Lowbrow art is a movement for the millions of people who share a common culture. The movement has steadily grown since the 1970s and isn't going anywhere soon. The pop culture prevalent in lowbrow art differs through each artist and is represented through their imagery. In this paper, I am going to elaborate on the characteristics of lowbrow art. Then, compare and contrast two contemporary lowbrow artist's works, Isabel Samaras and Kenny Scharf (Esaak). Lowbrow art was born underground. Represented as "street" culture, lowbrow is focused around retro and rebellious pop culture. Artists that created lowbrow artwork are typically self taught and don't care about the recognition because often there was very little. Lowbrow artists tend to have a humorous or sarcastic approach in their art. They don't follow the rules and they enjoy "poking fun at convention." Lowbrow is a broad term that falls in between fine art such as museum art and low art such as tattoos. Many artists fall under this category but are drastically different from each other. Lowbrow art has been branching off into different forms and styles since its creation. This results ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No Constraints: The Exorcist No Constraints I was about eight years old when my brother and I ran out of our house screaming when we saw Regan from The Exorcist doing a spider walk down the stairs with blood coming out of her mouth. When interviewing my mom, she said "I didn't have concerns with what you were watching or doing on the computer. I trusted you." My mother was very lenient when managing my media use because I could watch any television show, any movie, and play any video game I wanted. Though violence, obesity, commercialization, and short attention spans are also legitimate complaints, the issues of race relations and gender roles create widespread effects. This is not an issue specific to animation; it is prevalent in all forms of entertainment. Yet if we, as a culture, are to remove these issues from our media, we should be focusing on changing perceptions of the youngest members of our culture. A large issue with children's cartoons is a lack of valid representation. (Parasecoli FIND DATE) What little representation that exists borders on stereotypes, and is catered towards white culture. This underrepresentation is prevalent even in the advertisements of children's programs. Few commercials feature people of color, and those that do typically retain a white child in a position of power. • 29. Exposing Our Children to Subliminal Messages President Herbert Hoover once said that, "Children are our most valuable resource." Everybody knows the saying "The children are our future." If everyone knows this saying than why are parents exposing our future to inappropriate and explicit content. This is because most people do not realize the explicit content their children are being exposed to. The shows, movies, and even commercials children are watching effect not only their actions and thought process but can also effect the future decisions and choices they make. From the day we are born to the day we die we have seen many different movies and seen many different TV shows; while we are watching and hearing these through our own eyes and ears we do not truly realize what our brains are consuming, because in reality we are viewing and hearing much more than we can naturally see. Subliminal messages are prearranged thoughts or ideas placed into the subconscious mind. Subliminal messages involve reacting to stimuli that are above your physiological threshold but below your perceptual thresholds. So basically your brain processes the messages without you knowing. The two main types of subliminal messaging are auditory and visual. In these two categories there are also subcategories. According to Anthony Pratkanis and Anthony Greenwald, who are Psychology professors, have defined these four different subcategories as: Subthreshold stimuli which are presented at energy levels too weak to be detected by the audience. ... Patrick goes off to work, leaving Spongebob to take care of the clam, clean the house, and cook dinner. Every night he returns from work "exhausted" and cannot help take care of this clam that he equally agreed to raise. Think about the message it is showing young boys. As a child wakes up every morning, their first action of the day, is to usually walk downstairs and click on the television and the parent usually wakes up to the sound of their child's favorite television show blasting throughout their house. And as the parent walks down the stairs, the child is sitting in front of the television both eyes glued to the screen and the parents begin to think about how much time they have to themselves in the morning. I can still remember the smell of the newly painted walls, the freshly polished floor, and the twinkle of the TV. Are you ready kids "Aye Aye Captain" I can't hear you "AYE AYE CAPTAIN!" This is the sound that filled me with joy. I plopped down in front of the TV, and on the screen appeared a porous, yellow sponge with square pants. Blue eyed, with three eyelashes on each eye, two prominent front teeth, three freckles on each cheek; he wore a shirt with a red tie, brown trousers held up by a black belt and black shoes. • 51. Culture Vs American Culture I can vividly recall one warm summer night in Dallas,Texas when my entire family and I were huddled around a tiny 27–inch television. We were anxiously watching one of the most infamous rivalries in sport: India versus Pakistan. I did not quite understand what was happening in the match, but judging by the anxious look on my family's faces, I could tell that the game was very close and intense. I remember my dad and uncles talking about strategies Pakistan should use to win, debating back and forth on what would be the best move. Unfortunately, moments later, everybody went quiet, as only sighs and groans filled the room. Pakistan had just lost. Seeing the somber faces around the room, I realized how important cricket was to my family, and how it was a pivotal aspect of their collective identity; how a simple sporting match was able to bring people together, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A part of that has to do with learning the varying differences between Pakistani and American culture. For example, while most children were watching cartoons like SpongeBob SquarePants or simply American sports, I remember watching Cricket (the most popular sport in Pakistan) and a South Asian crime drama, called "CID". While some of my friends would have meatloaf for dinner, I would have Pakistani dishes like Nihari and Biryani. I communicated with my parents almost exclusively in Urdu, the official language of Pakistan. And while most of my friends would go to a church in a suit and tie, I would go to a mosque, wearing a traditional Pakistani outfit, known as a "Shalwar Kurta". Pakistani and American cultures differ in many ways, and it is by experiencing both of these cultures simultaneously, and effectively assimilating into American society, that had an integral role in shaping the person that I have become today, not only in terms of my personality but also in the way I live my ... • 53. Personal Narrative Essay : The Love Of My Father Being a little girl all I ever really wanted was a father that is was there for me. Growing up I was one of those depressed girls who never got to experience the love of her father. Never got to feel the warmth of my father's hug after a long day. Never experiencing the love and protection from him. Leaving me to question why he was my father for the rest of my life... This is my personal narrative and I will be telling you about the time my father stood me up. To take you back to that gloomy day in my life it was October 25, 2012 exactly one day before my 13th birthday. Just 24 hours before I will be identified as a teenage, I was so excited and looking forward to the day ahead. That Friday morning started off so bright and promising. I recall this day so well because it was character day at school and I had decided to arrive at school dressed as the almighty Spongebob Squarepants. The school day ended so swiftly not even remembering what events had that day. When I finally arrived home after being on an overcrowded bus all I could hear is "Did you have a good day at school?" my mother yelled I relied with a head shake and said, " Yes, everybody liked my outfit today." Shortly after arriving home my mother offered me to ride along with her. Me being the person I am, I never give up an opportunity to go somewhere. While in the car going potential deaf with how loud I had the radio, I surprisingly got a call from my father telling me he wanted to get me for my birthday weekend. I can remember me telling my mother when she arrived back in the car and her debating whether or not to let me go. I begged for hours seemed like, telling her I will be okay he is my father, he is going to take care of me. I believe she only agreed to let me go out of aggravation, but she made it very clear with her eyebrows raised and her eyes wide open that i can only stay for one night. I was still so eager to go, never actually spending time with my father. I thought this would change our relationship for the better. Boy was I so wrong. Packing my bag and visualizing what our time together would be like. My mother came into my room and said " Do you have everything you need? Your father said he would be here at 8." I replied ... This album is characterized by what I would describe as a traditional country feel, but with a slightly more modern sound, or to be more technical, a country rock meets blues album. This record, and Chris Stapleton himself, went relatively unnoticed by the general public after initial release. It was not until the 2015 CMA awards when Stapleton performed "Tennessee Whiskey" with Justin Timberlake that his album truly took off (Welch). Since then, songs from Traveller can frequently be heard on national country radio stations, as well as on tour, a show I will be attending in May. The reason I chose to review Traveller is because "Tennessee Whiskey" sucker punched me in the best way possible. "Sometimes I Cry" is one of the most vocally profound country songs I have ever found. The first time I listened to it, I genuinely got chills as the whole song is such an experience. • 59. Rick And Murty Moral Analysis Rick and Morty: Adventures Through Space and Morality Through the invention of the television, the art of animation was able to transition from the big screen to the small screen. Serialized animated adventures boomed in the 80's and 90's as a market to pander for children, with dry, easy to follow storylines and bright flashing colors – no room for adult humor or ideas. However, just as the medium changed from film to television, the medium of cartoons has changed as well, opening up for innovative, if at times crude, animated series. Among this new influx of shows, one space time adventure has emerged to set itself apart from the usual lineup of grown–up cartoons. Rick and Morty has proven to be one of the most entertaining adult cartoon show with its engaging story and characters, witty commentary, and its clever use of science fiction tropes and dark comedy to balance the two. How about the type of macaroni and cheese you reach for? Same ingredients, same directions on how to mix and stir up the final manufactured goods but is it really the "same". To a lot of people it might not make a difference, but like me, a lot of people prefer spending the extra 50 cents on a box of "Kraft Macaroni and Cheese" and it's worth every penny. The Kraft Company has been around for a long time now. Personally I believe you must have a protective firm, not allowing other companies to steal your ideas and product. This will give the firm advantage over others. Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is dominating the market with almost 1 million boxes sold a day. They have to keep up their revenue by attracting a new fan base. Shapes and designs of pasta are surprisingly essential for Kraft. Over 2000 patents of shaped macaroni and cheese have been officially signed for and used, only about 280 have been obtained by Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. One of their biggest selling characters and patents is SpongeBob Square Pants, a TV show that has been on air for about 12 years now. Kids thrive for the little macaroni shapes of SpongeBob, Sandy, Patrick, and Mr. Crabs. When Kraft came out with these shapes they couldn't produce enough of them for mom's and their kids. Sales rocketed through the roof and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese monopolized the competition with this brand new shape that no one else could use. Knowing exactly what to market at a specific time is huge when it comes to any company that wants to be successful. • 63. A Bann on SpongeBob: It Kills Brain Cells Essay The cartoon of the yellow sponge living in a pineapple under the sea was never meant to be a kid's show. Au contraire, the show was meant to air on Adult Swim, a television network for viewers 16 years and older. The Sponge had a test run, but because of the low rating it was transferred to the kids' networks. Of course, our dear children, innocent and ignorant of the hidden message inside the moving images, loved it. In this case "Bikini Bottom" is SpongeBob's home town, an inappropriate name of a setting for a children's cartoon. It is unlikely they will act this way, when it comes to driving. In this I am not referring to the actual action. • 65. Comparing Frankenstein And Frankendoodle And Frankenstein Frankenstein is a classic science fiction novel written by Mary Shelley, through the ages many adaptations have taken the story through various forms of popular culture. Spongebob Squarepants, a popular children's television show often alludes to classic literature, and makes it entertaining for all ages. While this example is quite comical, it does hold classical elements associated with Frankenstein, but takes a spin on the classic science fiction novel. In this essay I will consider the similarities and difference between the two texts; "Frankendoodle" as well as "Frankenstein". By looking at the allusion apparent in "Frankendoodle", it is clear to see that many of the more popularized characteristics are found throughout the text, such as; a name given to the creature, the creature being aggressive thoughtless monster, and the creator having a sidekick. Fundamentally, the idea of a creature being born into this world through unconventional means is clearly demonstrated in both texts. "Frankendoodle" shadows Mary Shelley's original text, "Frankenstein" but allows it to highlight the "Frankenstein" that was born through many forms of popular culture. Spongebob Squarepants is a children's television show that aired periodically from the early 1990's into 2010. It's production takes place in Nickelodeon Studios by main producer, Stephen Hillenburg. I must admit that although I was not an indoors type of kid, the opening line of the show, "Are you ready, kids?" always drew me to the living room like a magnet; even as a college freshman, I never bypass the television when my favorite show, SpongeBob Squarepants, is on. I am not merely attracted to the show because of the character's infectious humor but because of the numerous life lessons it has to offer; besides teaching me a billion ways to be an annoying neighbor, SpongeBob has taught me innumerable life values of overriding significance. The most notable attitude of SpongeBob is his irrepressible and inextinguishable optimism. The adorable yellow sponge seems to be oblivious to the dark side of everything and only sees the bright and positive sides to things and everyone, including his pompous and grumpy neighbor, Squidward Tentacles. (Footloose, Kenny Loggins) For this essay, I chose to watch Footloose made in 1984 and directed by Herbert Ross and Footloose made in 2011 directed by Craig Brewer. Both movies centered around the town of Bomont, a secluded town with out of the ordinary beliefs. In this town, dancing and partying of any sort was strictly against the law and teenagers were seemingly miserable. There was little to no self expression and even listening to provocative music or any music too loud, could get you a ticket with a hefty fine. The reason behind the strict rules is that several years back, five teens from Bomont High School died in a car wreck after they were drinking and dancing too much. Each of these movies have some things in common, but have more differences than anything. Some of the main differences are the opening credits of each movie, how and who Ren arrives to Bomont at the beginning of the movie, the "chicken" races between Ren and Jeff, and the book burning in town square. In the 1984 version, the movie opens with the song "Footloose" and the first thing the viewers see is the shoes and feet of many different people dancing.
