We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
1. What is the purpose
of a music video?
By Hannah McDonagh
2. Main purpose of music videos
There are many purposes of using a music video. One reason for this would be to promote them;
the video would make the artist more noticeable and would make them have a larger fan base,
people would be able to recognise them, therefore the more people that can recognise them the
better.
Another reason for a music video would be to show off how they look. Their appearance would
make people want to copy their style. If the stars shown on television are wearing certain
clothes then of course their fans would want to dress like them, especially because they are
famous and they like the artists music.
In music videos the majority of the time they have their names/ logo, this will give connections
to the other artists on the same label. This will then make their names more worldwide and
popular. Putting artists on the same label would make the label earn more money. If people
listen to one song on the label and they like it then they would try out other songs on the label
if that’s the sort of music they like, therefore the label would become more popular. Also by
having different people on one label they an co-operate and make songs together which would
then make the label look even better.
ALBUM SALES:
All of these points will help album sales because this is what gives the audience a better
understanding of the song and sometimes if the artist is in the video it gives the audience an
insight of how they are, and can be an inspiration
3. Synergy
The interaction or cooperation of two or more
organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a
combined effect greater than the sum of their separate
effects.
Is the release of a brand or product) across different
media platforms e.g. Apple, Disney
Media companies use synergistic techniques in order to
increase brand image, bring in as much money as they
can. They also use these techniques to attract different
types of audiences in order to produce a fan base.
Having a different range of audiences and creating a fan
base is good for a company because they can make
more money and they can also attract even more people
which could then go worldwide.
Music artists also use these techniques to promote
themselves. They make music then they make music
videos, then the singers/ artists are used for things such
as lunch boxes, t-shirts and other things the public use
on a daily basis to make them selves more popular and
make fans happy to buy there products if that’s the
artists they like. This will them make them even more
popular and make them even more known across the
world.
Even famous people of famous brands make their self
more known becoming up with their own brands, for
example clothing lines, makeup brands and even
different brands of their very own designed perfume.
They’ll team up with the creators of these brands and
the make their own ones with their names on it. People
like Kylie Jenner and Britany Spears have made their
own brands, which has made them much more popular
and have now created a bigger fan base.
4. Male gaze theory
Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema was an essay written by Laura Mulvey. • An essay
which coined the term “Male Gaze” which soon went on to become a very well know and
discussed theory. •
The male gaze theory is used in many things, most of the time in music videos. They will use
half naked women or women acting sexual just to get a bigger fan base. Males will be attracted
to the women, if a women is covered up and acting more modest then the man probable
wouldn’t even look twice. The fact that these women are acting in this particular way it would
get more attention and the artist would then have more popularity.

The camera focuses on the women's curves or their facial
expressions that may be quite sexual, this will
then have the male and female genders look at
the music video and pay more attention to it.

5. Representation
Representation refers to the construction in any medium (especially the mass media) of
aspects of ‘reality’ such as people, places, objects, events, cultural identities and other
abstract concepts. Such representations may be in speech or writing as still or moving
pictures.
It is through representation that we understand the world and construct our meanings
and understandings of the truth
