1. What is my magazine about?
My magazine is based around athletes, local to Hertfordshire and
international as well. The main idea however is that it will mainly feature
articles about the diets that these athletes eat and strictly follow. The aim of
the magazine would be to inform the people of Hertfordshire of the lifestyle
of these athletes living among us in the county.
2. THE AIM OF THIS MAGAZINE
THE AIM OF THE MAGAZINE WOULD BE TO INFORM THE PEOPLE OF
HERTFORDSHIRE OF THE LIFESTYLE OF THESE ATHLETES LIVING AMONG US
IN THE COUNTY. IT WOULD INCLUDE RECIPES, ARTICLES AND REVIEWS TO
HELP ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO STEP UP A NOTCH WITH THEIR DIETS
AND ATTEMPT TO EAT LIKE THE ATHLETES. OVERALL THE GOAL IS TO GET
THE PEOPLE OF HERTFORDSHIRE INTO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE.
3. Magazine description
The magazine will roughly consist of 30-35 pages and it needs to include a
variety of different sports that are linked to the sports performers from
Hertfordshire. It will include a different athlete and their sport every 2 pages.
There will be a clear description of their diet type and why they have that diet.
This magazine will also offer a basic diet guide to show a individual how to
achieve in a few weeks which will help improve their performance in their
specific sport. This magazine will also include exclusive interviews from some
sport performers in Hertfordshire. In these interviews they will tell you all
about their experience and how they achieved the best results in sport but
having a balanced diet.
4. Target audience
The target audience for the magazine will be aspiring athletes who want to
gain access to the sporting world and maybe need to develop their diet in
order to achieve this. It is mainly aimed at people between 16-30 as this is
when people are at their prime sporting age and can change their diet in
order to help their ability in sports. Athletes in Hertfordshire also all range
between 16-30 years old so keeping the target audience around that helps to
keep the magazine relevant and relatable for the readers.
5. Budget
For the magazine the budget won't need to be too high this is because it will
be an independent magazine. The magazine could cost around £2.50 as its a
reasonable price which will also cover printing costs as well as the studio
costs. The production of this magazine can go into several stores in the local
cities and after a period of time we could see where the magazine is most
popular which will allow us to consider if we want to change to a different
location or if we want carry on selling in those certain areas.
7. Marketing methods
Creating an advert for this magazine will be a great idea as the advert as it will
increase sales of the magazine. It will also identify the new target customers
and other audiences that may be interested in the magazine. We could use
Facebook as a promotional tool as the audience found on that platform is
typically older which perfectly matches our target audience.
Instagram would also be a useful way to promote our magazine as it has our
younger range of audience (aspiring athletes). Similarly to Facebook these
adverts could appear on peoples feeds however a sport specific # would need
to be used for this advert to appear on their screen.
8. Distribution of the magazine
The magazine will be distributed in the local area (Hertfordshire) therefore the
transport that we are considering for this magazine is our company owned
van. The magazine will then be taken into the local supermarkets where they
will be ready for sale. We aim to deliver our magazines into 5 different
supermarkets in each city with 6 magazines into each store.
9. Unique selling point
The magazine has a unique selling point as not only does it look at athletes
and their performance in Hertfordshire but also their diets and healthy
lifestyles. The competition is extremely limited as there are magazines that
look at athletes in Hertfordshire however none of those magazines include an
athletes diet plans or how eating healthy improves your overall well being as
well as your performance in a specific sport. This shows that our magazine
stands out as it is different from those out in the market.
