The Use Of Light In The Film Citizen Kane
INTRODUCTION
In films a big concept has always been the use of lights. The use of lights in films helps create a
meaning about what the scene is about and at times reveals a little more. In cinematography there
is different types of lighting such as: three point lighting, fill light, key light, high key and low
key lighting, top or under, lighting and many more. In the times when films were black and white
the use of light is not easily visible. The use of black and white still helped portray the meaning
behind many of the scenes, whether the scene got lighter or darker.A film that was successful in
using white and black was Citizen Kane by Orson Welles. A film that was in color was the
Godfather directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The use of lighting reflects within color because it
gives the audience more to look at and it becomes very noticeable when the light changes for a
specific scene. The use of lighting styles is necessary in films to bring attention to the scene and
to be able to produce an interesting film. The director of Citizen Kane had the choice of making
the film black and white or color but eventually decided to create it in black and white. In an
interview about the film Citizen Kane a critic acknowledged the use of light and said Exploiting
light and shadow inventively to express meaning and establish a desired atmosphere made Orson
Welles Citizen Kane a significant historical event that impacted both audiences and film genre in
many ways. The

Improving Communication Over Shift Change And Improve...
Planned Change Change is a constant in health care. Leader managers must understand the
complexities of change. Marquis and Huston point out that there must be a good reason to
implement change (2015). The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how to implement planned
change to improve communication over shift change and improve communication with families
within the emergency room. Additionally, the people necessary for this change, along with the
necessary steps will be outlined. Problem A problem has been identified in our emergency room
that important information is not transferring from one shift to the next. This is not a unique to
problem to our facility alone. Additionally, patients and families do not understand what is
happening during their visit to the emergency room. In 2015, the Joint Commission set a national
safety goal to improve the effectiveness of caregivers communication. Change The specific change
being proposed is to institute bedside report. Bedside report would improve communication among
caregivers and increase patients and families understanding of their visit. During the bedside report,
the off going nurse and the oncoming nurse would double check intravenous fluids, intravenous
sites, and the presence of safety equipment and alarms. Bedside report and the two person safety
check is essential for patient safety. Bedside report allows for a visual inspection of the patient
which increases accountability, decreases potential

Summary Of Gothic Literature And Magical Realism
Topaz s spookiest experience was when she saw her grandmother sitting in her old chair after
she died. This scenario relates to Gothic Literature and Magical Realism because it contains
supernatural things like a ghost, a strange or scary plot, and a gloomy mood. Those two genres
are similar because they both show dull and odd events throughout the stories too. However,
Oates Where is Here is an example of Gothic Literature because it contains a spooky and eager
plot, an ambiguous ending, and tortured characters. While Julio Cortazar s House Taken Over is
an example of Magical Realism because it uses weird, strange plots that seem regular as if it
were a part of daily life. Gothic Literature and Magical Realism is in these stories which makes
Topaz s spookiest experience a Gothic Literature and Magical Realism. Gothic literature is
having a setting that is spooky and dark. Joyce Carol Oates s Where is Here contains a great
example of Gothic Literature due to the story being spooky and having strange things happen.
One example that proves it is a Gothic Literature in Oates s story is, one November evening at
dusk, the doorbell rang, and the father went to answer it, and there on his doorstep stood a man
he had never seen before (69). This sentence proves its Gothic Literature since it contains a
strange or violent plot and a dramatic description. Therefore Where is Here is a Gothic
Literature because it contains these things that create a spooky or chilling story. Gothic
Literature is one of the crucial important genre in the Unit one Allure of fear . (Angelee Chea)
Magical Realism is a literary genre closely associated with some Latin American twentieth
century authors. Magical Realism combines two seemingly contrasting genres: Reality and
Fantasy. Julio Cortazar s House Taken Over is a good example of Magical Realism because of
the somewhat supernatural occurrence during the story. A perfect example from the story is They
ve taken over our section... (41). This proves magical realism because we don t know who they
are. They could be anything or anyone. More so, whatever the characters thought were taking over
the section could have been ghosts, monsters, soldiers or zombies. However

Martin-Gruber Anastomosis
ur in the forearm region. It is composed in crosses of axons which may produce changes in the
innervations of the upper limb muscles, mainly motor part of intrinsic muscles in the hand
(MANNERFELT, 1966; KIMURA, MURPHY and VARDA, 1976). Anastomosis in which the
branch anastomotic originates proximally in the median nerve and unites distally in the ulnar nerve
is known as Median
Ulnar anastomosis type or Martin Gruber anastomosis.
Martin, a Swedish anatomist, in 1763 was the first one to consider the possibility of connection
between the fascicles of the median and ulnar nerves in the forearm (MARTIN,
1763). In the following century, in 1870, Gruber dissected
250 forearms and found 38 connections (GRUBER, 1870)
(15.2%), thenceforth, anastomosis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can arise between the branches destined to the deep flexor muscle of the fingers, or directly in the
median to the ulnar nerve, or between the anterior interosseous and ulnar nerves or in combinations
between these types of anastomoses
(NAKASHIMA, 1993).
However, another type of anastomosis can happen in the forearm. When the anastomotic branch
originates proximally in ulnar nerve and unites distally to median nerve is simply called
anastomosis of Median Ulnar type, or Martin Gruber reverse anastomosis or Marinacci anastomosis.
Marinacci in
1964 made a case report of a patient who traumatized the medium nerve in forearm, but still had
preservation of the median nerve innervations in the hand muscles, although had denervation of the
flexor muscles in forearm (MARINACCI,
1964). The Marinacci anastomosis is infrequently notified.
In some studies this type of anastomosis had not been found, being considered for many authors as
anatomical anomaly.
The occurrence of the Martin Gruber or Marinacci anastomoses can be understand by the fact that
the median and ulnar nerves were developed from a similar embryonic region (ALMEIDA, VITTI
and GARBINO,
1999). In addition, there are studies with high incidence

Themes Of Universal Design For Learning
1.The major themes of this reading are as follows it talks about the Universal Design for learning
which helps accommodate all children in the classroom learn the same material through different
methods of teaching. This article also looks at the project approach this is when a teacher gives
the class a topic the children and teacher both will research this topic for a couple weeks. During
this time the teacher sets up the learningexperience and directs it or relates it to the topic they are
learning about. The class learn about this topic through field trips, rearranging the dramatic play
area, bringing someone in, reading about it, and or doing different activities focused on that area.
And by incorporating Universal Design with the project approach you are able to accommodate

Starters vs Relievers Essay
Starting Pitchers vs. Relief Pitchers There are many differences and similarities between relief
pitchers and starting pitchers. There are many different types of relief pitchers that each team has
in its bullpen. While starting pitcher each team usually has about 5 starters that rotate through each
game, which leaves the rest of the game up to the relief pitchers once the starter can no longer go.
People do not normally realize that saying a person is a pitcheris quite a general statement. For
example starting pitchers is defined as the pitcher who delivers the first pitch of the game to the
first batter. Even if that pitcher gets hurt on that pitch he is still the starter. Normally starting
pitchers are supposed to go the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a runner reaches the goal switches to a no hitter if they got on an error or walk. If they got
on with a hit the goal is to get a shutout, which is when the opposing team scores no runs. Also if
the starting pitcher goes all the innings in the game whether it is seven or nine they are rewarded
with the complete game. Normally when a pitcher reaches any of their goals they achieve a win.
Starting pitchers normally have at a minimum three effective pitches. They need pitches to get
ahead in the count on the batter and then a strike out pitch. A strike out pitch is a pitch with a lot
of break or movement and is hard for the batter to pick up and normally ends with freezing the
batter or a swing and miss. A relief pitcheror commonly called a reliever is a pitcher that comes in
at any time during the game after the first pitch of the game is thrown. The starter can be
removed for multiple reasons such as; injury, ineffectiveness, fatigue, ejection, or depending on
the batter. There are many types of relief pitchers for example closers, set up pitchers, middle
relief, left handed specialist, long relievers and mop up relief. Many relief pitchers were starters
in the primes of their careers but can no longer endure the stress given with being a starter. This is
because as a relief there is more time for rest between outings and the pitcher doesn t throw as many
pitches in one outing.

The Character Of Faber In Fahrenheit 451

Miriam Riggs
English 001A
6 November 2017
Characterizer: The Sieve and The Sand The character Faber in Fahrenheit 451 is an old retired
English Professor that acts as a guide, a teacher, to Guy Montag. Montag initially seeks out Faber
to find more about books, as he caught Faber once with something that seemed to be of literature.
He spoke in rhyme and rhythm, perhaps familiar with poetry and other literary devices. Montag
wanted a copy of the bible to read and decipher, thus requesting one from Faber, having obtained
his contact information from his last encounter. Montag insists for a copy of the Bible, even
calling Faber, with not much of a reply. Even when Montag goes to knock on Faber s door, Faber

Faber is both amazed and surprised at the courage Montag has to seek him out. Montag insists
that Faber is the only person that can help him figure out and decipher what he is reading. Faber
reminisces about the old smell of books as well as Christ, who has become a different character
in their present day media. He also labels himself as a coward, for not being able to stop all the
burning of books when it first started. At this point of time, Farber becomes more of a teacher to
Montag rather than just a mere consultant. Faber explains that Montag seeks knowledge, not the
books themselves but what s inside them. Faber believe that books are feared because they record
history and life and that people need leisure time to think, which people did not have the
enjoyment at the time. He believes burning books is foolish, because it removes the knowledge
and wisdom that they contain from people. He also believes that people need to react and change
from the present day society. Faber also acts as an acquaintance to Montag s plans. Immediately
after Faber s explanations, Montag agrees and wants to start a rebellion, wanting to steal books and
reprint them. Faber continues to be a guide and consultant for Montag, continuing to exchange

Teenagers and their Credit Cards
Teenagers and their Credit Cards
Availability of credit cards have left young people in debt. College age students and low income
consumers, typically deemed bad risks, are easy targets for credit card companies. Credit card
companies should not target college age students and low income consumers because of their lack
of financial stability. In 1996, twenty something consumers owed an average of $2,400 on their
credit cards, nearly triple what they owed in 1990, according to research by Claritas Inc., a

More parents than ever are sending their teenagers to shopping malls and movie theaters with a
piece of plastic instead of pocket change. Marketing to students is definitely working, as many of
them end up signing for as many as five to six credit cards, say Don Blandin, president of the
American Savings Education Counsel (ASEC). A 1999 survey by ASEC found that 55% of all
college students and 7% of high school students have a major credit card. And nearly a third do not
pay their bills in full each month.
Experts don t agree about when and how to introduce kids to credit cards. Teens younger than 18
can only get a credit card if their parents co sign for it.
Credit card companies are courting increasingly younger customers who are all too eager to

Blockbuster History
The legacy encompassing the coexistence of blockbuster and independent films are quite
interesting and somewhat complex. History shows that at one point the word blockbuster had
nothing to do with a movie production and originated back in the 1940s. Blockbuster was
describing how large bombs can destroy city blocks in Hamburg during World War 11. The term
took on new meaning referring to anything capable of public impact. Another illustration of this
would be when a hyped play was expected to be very successful and competing theaters were
busted and put out of business. Soon the term blockbuster would become a dominant marketing tool
in the world of theater and filmproduction representing anticipated hits or big box office sales. In
other words, blockbusters were used interchangeably to the concept of major studios.
The movie Jaws in 1975 one of Steven Spielberg classics was a direct beneficiary of this cultural
phenomenon. The movie grossed well over $100,000.00 in ticket sales and laid the foundation of
the New Hollywood s blockbuster era. Movies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

possibly a hit movie. Many independent films were marked by less investment resources and were
politically inferior to the studios which affected how films were produced, directed and distributed,
and not to mention landmark Supreme Court decisions. It is important to note at one time the
major studios (back then known as the Big Five) were once independent studios prior to the
obliteration of the MPPC patents that where owned by The Edison Trust which dominated major
legal rights to the technology of the industry. The case ended by two Supreme Court decisions
which extended certain legal rights to independent

Mental Illnesses In Canada
Over the past decades, mental health has become a prominent social issue. People around the
world suffer from mental illnesses. The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) reports
approximately 20% of Canadians will have a mental illness within their lifetime Fortunately,
society has become educated towards this dilemma. We now have clubs/ programs that inform
about the problem. We hear that more and more plans towards improving mental health are
already in the works (while some have been completed). Just like every social issue, mental
illnesses do carry some controversy. However, this controversy may be the reason that many do not

From personal experience, I had a couple friends who have gone through various mental illnesses
like depression and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). There may not been a
scientific or logical approach towards analysing one s mental health. It does not make it anymore
real. I have witnessed a bunch of people go through this. They were known to be pretty normal and
easy going to others. When it came to me, they did not have to put up their facade. After they
confided in me with the truth, it only became clearer just how upset and depressed they really were.
At times, they do not really need to say anything. You can sense the vibe of self hatred and
extremely thoughts just pulsing through their brain. Society does not need any scientific evidence
to prove that someone is feeling emotions of resentment, sadness, anger, or grief. We can see
through one s behaviour; Maybe that person may actually reveal their true thoughts to the world.
Nevertheless, mental illness is a real problem. Having the stigma that mental disorders might not

Essay about Moral Hazard
The theme of moral hazard comes up numerous times throughout the movie, Too Big To Fail and is
an extremely important factor when considering what happened in September of 2007 and its
consequences. By definition, moral hazard is, the risk that a party to a transaction has not entered
into the contract in good faith, has provided misleading information about its assets, liabilities or
credit capacity, or has an incentive to take unusual risks in a desperate attempt to earn a profit
before the contract settles (Investopedia). Basically it s when others such as these investment banks
are careless with the money invested by the people because it isn t their money or their risk. This
was the case throughout many points in the film. First,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, U.S Treasury Secretary Henry Paulsondirected CEO of Lehman Brothers, Dick Fuld to
declare bankruptcy before the market opened. They decided against bailing them out and preached
to the public about moral hazard. In this situation, if they were to bail Lehman Brothers out, it
would promote the theory that, it wouldn t matter if banks are careless with others money if they
are going to get bailed out anyway, and also what is stopping these banks from not repeating the
same mistake if the Fed bails them out in the end. This came over well initially in the public for
those exact reasons but soon turned. Because of Lehman Brothers counterparty risk, it affected the
entire financial market and another giant, AIG, began to collapse. With AIG failing it would cause
the entire financial system to fall and cause massive problems. Due to these reasons Paulson
lobbied for the government to intervene and eventually they did and passed the Emergency
Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, which allowed Paulson to spend up to 700 billion to
purchase securities and inject cash directly into banks. They ended up doing exactly what they
weren t willing to with Lehman Brothers and their preaching against moral hazard went right out
the window when they decided to bail out AIG. Moral Hazard is a double edged sword because in
the end, what is to stop these banks from doing the same thing again? Also, if

durable. The patterns of inlaid vinyl floors are pass through a process that put tiny vinyl granules

Through insecurities and heartbreaks, Cyrano would never forget his pride or the feelings of his

was near his death. Cyrano displayed many positive traits and values such as loyalty, devotion,

unfortunate part being that Roxane always thought it was Christian sending and writing the

these fourteen years, when, on this letter, which he never wrote, The tears were your tears?

all these years, listening to Roxane mourn about Christian, when he knew that it was him all

towards her. He was devoted to Christian as well, when Christian was dying Cyrano told him that
Roxane truly loves Christian, I told her all, She loves you still. (IV.x.445). He kept it a secret to
spare Christian s dignity. Moreover, by sparing Christian s dignity, Cyrano portrayed selflessness
excellently. His selflessness strengthened his nobility and honorable image to the audience.
However this was not the only way Cyrano showed this. Most of you might remember the night of

Video Games and Violence
There are probably millions and billions of video games sold every year to people. Some people
seem to believe that violence correlates directly with video games. Video games are something
that is usually a big interest in people at the ages of 13 to 19 years old. Video games usually start
off as a little fun and then turn into a major hobby for some people. Emotions change based on
whatever happens while a person is engaging in these games most of the time. These games are
another way to observe how people react emotionally to these games.
These video games have ratings made officially by the Entertainment Software Rating Board or
ESRB for short. Video game ratings go in a specific order ranging from Rated EC which means
Early Childhood to Rated RP which means Rating Pending. There are also more ratings in this
guide such as Rated E for Everyone and Rated T for Teens ages 13 and older ( ESRB Ratings Guide
).These video game ratings help the person who is purchasing these games by showing what age is
recommended for the person to be able to play the games.
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board also makes content descriptors. These tell the people
who are buying these games what the game they are buying contains such as, blood and gore
which contains content only for ages 18 and up. Another descriptor is known as use of drugs which
is described as anything involving illegal drugs. Violent References is another content descriptor

Persuasive Essay On Amazon Grocery Business
One of the most annoying things in the world is going shopping. It s not like getting new stuff
is a complete nightmare, it s just the part where you have to interact with people, deal with lines,
look at prices, figure out how much money you have, and so on. That stuff really gets me. What
s even worse that shopping is grocery shopping. If you go to a grocery store on a weekend, you
might as well take a Xanax before you walk in the door. Nothing makes me want to scream like a

Thankfully, the go to place for pretty much everything besides groceries is getting into the grocery
business. According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon will soon start rolling out its own private

Real Estate Prices Will Not Rebound Any Time Soon Essay
Real estate prices will not rebound any time soon. Housing is cyclical and we had a tremendous
8 year cycle which produced 150% appreciation between 1997 and 2005. This cycle was
extended past its natural course through unprecedented low mortgage rates which bottomed at
4% for variable rates that were fixed for 3 or 5 years. Also contributing to the boom were
loosened lending rules such as interest only loans which keep the payments artificially low and
stated income loans which bypass income verification, making loans available to people who

greed, denial, fear, pain and resolution. First speculators disappear, prices become stagnant, and

Violence as a Theme in The Color Purple
Physical, emotional and verbal abuse were a common part of life in the deep south in the early
1900 s especially if you were black, and even more so if you were a woman. In The Color Purple by
Alice Walker, Celie experienced violent abuse at the hands of different people throughout their
lives. They learned to be strong, even when life was at its worst. Celie is purely a victim she s
repeatedly raped by her father, her children are taken away from her, and she s into marriage to a
man.

The Cherry Orchard Essay
The Cherry Orchard The Misunderstood Comedy When the first production of The Cherry Orchard
was performed on stage in Moscow, there was a significant difference of opinion between the
author and directors. Chekhov strongly faulted the directors interpretation that the play should be
preformed as a tragedy and insisted that what he had written was a comedy. The famous
philosopher Aristotle defined a comedy as quot;an imitation of characters of a lower type who are
not bad in themselves but whose faults possess something ludicrous in them. quot; The
misinterpretation of The Cherry Orchard could be mainly due to a misunderstanding of the comic
character. A quot;comic quot; character is generally supposed to... Show more content on

It is this that forms the ludicrous or comic essence of Lyubov s character. True, Lyubov s
character does have her tragic moments. At the end of act four, Ania refers to her mother as to
having been crying all morning. Lyubov also expresses a lot of stress from not having money,
even though her actions do not show it. The main theme of the play can be generally taken to be
the passing of the old order of Russian society, symbolized by the sale of the cherry orchard.
Since Chekhov did not belong to the ranks of the Ranevsky family, unlike other authors who had
written plays on the same theme, Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard without becoming
personally involved. He was able to see the the comedy of the whole situation and give it an
artistic form of a play full of comic characters. Nothing was further form Chekhov s thoughts then
that his characters should spread a feeling of gloom or depression on his audience. Therefore the
symbolism of the cherry orchard had nothing to do with it s sale. All it expresses is one of the

England deciding to separate from the Catholic Church
The English Reformation was a series of events in 16th century England by which the Church of
England broke away from the authority of the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church . This
decision was taking by King Henry the VIII. This decision was primary related to his personal
want to have a male heir to continue the Tudor dynasty in the region. This decision was supported
by the people of England with their dissatisfaction of the Catholic Church. We analyzed the factors
involved in his decision and found couple bias such as short term emotions, confirmation bias and
overconfidence bias.

That s fantastic, thanks. When I arrive home, I eat a sparse dinner of fish, veggies, and brown

How Bingeing Became the New College Sport
Drinking on college campuses has become a huge problem. For example, in the 10th century only
old people used to drink, but now students drink more than their parents. Students see their parents
drinking, so they may think that drinking has no effect on health that anyone can drink so why can
t the students drink? Therefore, collegestudents have been drinking alcohol since the 14th century.
Barrett Seaman s article How Bingeing Became the New College Sport, appearing in TIME
magazine on August 29, 2005, explains how binge drinking is affecting college students. It also
suggests that lowering the drinking age might help solve the problem of binge drinking. This article

Due to that we will have more students hospitalized. When students are hospitalized or worst
yet, die from alcohol poisoning, which happens about 300 times each year college presidents
tend to react by declaring their campuses dry or shutting down fraternity houses. This quote
states that there are already many students hospitalized or dead. This happened when the
drinking age is 21. I think if the drinking age were lowered, the number of students hospitalized
might go up or even double. I think that the college presidents should make strict laws around
campus that would help stop students from drinking. If colleges were to have a security check in
every dorm, every day that will lower the number of hospitalizations. I know that there would be
liquor at student apartments, but it would still help lower the number of deaths. I disagree on
lowering the drinking age because students may drink more than their limits and go overboard. I
visited where the legal drinking age is 18: Montreal s McGill University, which enrolls about 2,000
American undergraduates a year. Many, when they first arrive, go overboard, exploiting their ability
to drink legally. But by midterms, when McGill s demanding academic standards must be met, the
vast majority have put drinking into its practical place among their priorities, writes Seaman,
explaining that the drinking age should be lowered, so

Due to the environmental pricing pressures and the company s recent survival mentality, I believe

Senior Management Commitment
As Harris and Davenport mention in Competing on Analytics , it is extremely necessary for
management to support and commit to integrating analytics in order for a company to become an
analytical competitor. (Davenport and Harris, 2007) Specific to Impax, there has been a lot of
recent change in management and minimal push down to incorporate analytics for better decision
making. While we are capable and do utilize a fair degree of analytics in our day to day operations,
unfortunately, I find its use tends to be more retroactive in nature than proactive.
Large Scale Ambition
I think this idea of large scale ambition is more an area of opportunity for Impax. We tend to use
the more tried and proven analytical techniques found in the pharma industry and lack a clear
strategic focus to take us outside the box into new and unchartered competitive territory. Again, this
is not too far strayed from management s survival approach or our distinct capability to manage
revenue; however, Harris and Davenport mention ambition can present risk, but the scale and scope
of results should be at least large enough to create company fortunes. (Davenport and Harris, 2007)

Genocide In The Film The Devil Came On Horseback
Genocide is rightfully seen as one of the most emotionally heavy words in the English language.
When many people think of genocide, they might correlate the word to the attempted, and nearly
successful, extermination of the Jewish people during World War II. To stand by and watch fellow
human beings killing each other because of their race, religion, sexuality, etc., leads many to
conclude those who stand by are just as guilty as those who commit the act. Unfortunately,
horrendous acts are kept silent from the global eye, as the film The Devil Came on Horseback

Great Recession between 2007 2008, around a year after The Devil Came on Horseback was

the less fortunate in the United States. The compelling techniques utilized by the filmmaker could
not overcome the changing environment or mindsets in America. Being an activist or seeking to

Analysis Of Getting Ryan By Chris Landreth
The long history of the combination of animation and documentary is one that stretches back to the
earliest days of moving image. One conjures up thoughts of comedy, children s entertainment and
fantasies, while the other carries with it the assumption of seriousness, education and evidence,
which can nonetheless seem oxymoronic. However these new and relatively explored sub genres
actually depict a new field in the documentarygenre known as animated documentary. Filmmaker

Animation shifts and broadens the limitations of what can be shown about reality by offering new
and alternative ways of seeing the world. It allows for the conventional subject matter of
documentary to be presented in a non conventional way. It also has the potential to convey
conscious experiences, such as memories and dreams visually, which is traditionally beyond what a
live action documentary can achieve. Animation has the potential to the viewers insight into the

E Tron, Its Nascent Line Of Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Audi launches e tron, its nascent line of hybrid electric vehicles. The Audi A3 Sportback e tron
name is a mouthful. Once you get beyond the lengthy moniker for this unusual plug in hybrid
electric vehicle (PHEV), calling it e tron or A3 e tron seems entirely appropriate. The e tron
designation is an Audi registered trademark, representing this brand s electric and hybrid vehicle

The 2016 Audi A3 Sportback e tron is its initial offering and will be followed by other models.
That the e tron arrived on the market the same year Audi s diesel engines were put on hold due
to parent Volkswagen s emissions scandal seems fortuitous, although sales of this PHEV will

of the constitution defined the form of government that would protect minority rights from

The Federalist Papers, were a series of eighty five essays written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay,

With pure democracy he means a system in which every citizen vote directly for laws. And with
republic he intends a society in which citizens vote for an elite of representatives who then vote
for laws. He indicates that the voice of the people pronounced by a body of representatives is more
conformable to the interest of the community. Because again, common people s decisions are
affected by their self interest.
Then he makes an argument in favor of a large republic against a small republic for the choice of
fit characters to represent the public s voice. In a large republic where the number of voters and
candidates is greater, the probability to elect competent representatives is broader. The voters
have a wider option. In a small republic it would also be easier for the candidates to fool the voters,
while in a large one, harder.
The last argument Madison makes in favor of a large republic is, in a small republic there will
be a lower variety of interests and parties, so more frequently a majority will be found. The
number of participants of that majority, will be lower, and considering they live in a more
limited territory, it would be easier for them to agree and work together for the accomplishment
of their ideas. While in a large republic the variety of interests will be greater so to make it harder
to find a majority. Even if there is a majority it would be harder for them to

However, 1st year survival in LVAD patient is higher than 85%. Unfortunately, 69.8% of the LVAD

2010). LVAD patients live with this device as the last option unless they get new hearts
(Rowland et al., 2012). If the device malfunctions or stop their lives can end immediately
(Rowland et al., 2012). Therefore, the focus has to be on their follow up cares after they get
discharged from the hospital (Banbury et al., 2003). Literature reviews as well as hands on
experience support that APN directed care post discharge were able to reduce hospital
readmissions and increase the quality of life of HF patients (Takeda et al., 2012). The APN,

The Popular Culture And The Theory Of Pop Culture
I believe that the phenomenon of greeting banners by communities and families is a kind of pop
culture. Popular culture or pop culture is a kind of phenomena that becomes mainstreams in a

way they deliver their Hari raya greeting, that is through banner and it somehow become popular

Christianity In Dante s Inferno
Dante s Inferno details Dante the traveler s journey through the nine circles of Hell. After meeting
his guide, the eminent Roman poet Virgil, in a mythical dark wood, the two poets begin their
descent through a baleful world of doleful shades, horrifying tortures, and unending lamentation.
Through his journey, Dante discovers what it means to be a good and virtuous Christian by
learning from the mistakes of those being punished in the nine circles of hell. In this way it can be
seen that Dante, the poet, defined his notion of Christian purity in terms of the impure, especially

The United States and the Soviet Union competed against each other during the Cold War in the
second half of the 20th Century like a chess game, with the world as their chessboard and

seems to have written the telegram to inform the Central Committee that the Russian strategy in
aligning itself with Cuba seemed to be working. In the telegram Gromyko expressed his belief
that a USA military adventure against Cuba is almost impossible to imagine because of
assurances given to us that the USA has no plans for in Cuba (which undeniably commits them in

weakening Cuba by obstructing its economy, thinking that over the long term Russia would not be
able to continue supporting Cuba with foreign aid in order to offset U.S. economic sanctions
against Cuba (Gromyko). Gromyko s telegram accurately describes U.S. policy regarding Cuba
around the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October of 1962.

In Wide Sargasso Sea, author Jean Rhys uses intertextuality to tell the story of Antoinette Mason.
Intertexuality is when an author bases their book/novel off of another text. In this case, Wide
Sargasso Sea is shaped from Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre and it elaborates on the character of
Bertha, who is Antoinette Mason in Rhys novel. By reading Wide Sargasso Seawe are enlightened
on things in Jane Eyre that Bronte does not tell us about or elaborate on. Also, by reading Jane
Eyre we understand things about Wide Sargasso Sea that Rhys doesn t include in her novel. Both
authors have created compelling novels that aren t built from each other and provides a deeper
understanding of one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the story of her life we get a better understanding of her role as a character in Jane Eyre and
perhaps most of the mystery we have is cleared up. Wide Sargasso Sea is a very creative literary
piece that provides depth to a character whose story would have gone untold.
After reading Wide Sargasso Sea we have a better understanding of Jane Eyre and some of the
events that took place within the novel. We find more out about Rochester s dark past; Bronte
just didn t go far enough back to enlighten us on his marriage. After reading Rhys s Wide
Sargasso Sea we now know how Rochester and Antoinette s relationship came to be. Their
marriage was arranged so that Rochester would have financial stability because he was the
second son and was likely to not inherit anything from his father. Rochester felt he was duped
into marrying Antoinette by his father and everyone else. In one scene Rochester says, As I
walked I remembered my father s face and his thin lips, my brother s round conceited eyes. They
knew. And Richard the fool, he knew too...They all knew. (Rhys 62). He thinks everyone knew
Antoinette was crazy but didn t tell him. Rochester seems to be ashamed with himself over locking
Antoinette in the attic, but he feels like it was the right thing for him to do. He would have had a
miserable life and also would have put everyone in danger at Thornfield, with crazy Antoinette
around. Antoinette was a lunatic and if Rochester had to put up with her psychotic

The Amargosa Project
The project is located at an elevation of ~730 m above mean sea level and within the Basin and
Range physiographic province (BR). The BR is composed of high relief mountains or foothills
separated by low lying valleys and salt flats. The salt flats of the Amargosa do not support plant
life, but Phreatophytes (deeply rooted plants) occur on their edges and near the adjacent gravel
dominated alluvial fans. Iodine bush (Allenrolfea occidentalis) grows closet to the salt flats, while
saltgrass (Distichlis stricta) and arrowweed (Pluchea sericea) occur more distal. The dominant
species in the salt flat proximal areas is honey mesquite (Prosopis juliflora) that occurs as large
stands. Sacatone grass (Sporobolus airoides) and desert holly (Atriplex hymenelytra) intergrown

Miocene volcanic rocks that form the Timber Mountains and Oasis valley caldera complex border
the basin to the north (Christiansen et al., 1977) and extend southward beneath the basin. Most of
these volcanic rocks are silicic ignimbrites that are 9.5 16 Ma (Christiansen et al., 1977). These
volcanic rocks are overlain by moderately to highly deformed siltstone, fanglomerates, tuff, and
limestone that have been correlated to the Furnace Creek Formation of Death Valley(Hunt and
Mabey, 1966; Naffe, 1973) which has been dated at 5.3 to 6.4 Ma (Fleck, 1970; Hay et al., 1986).
Pliocene to Pleistocene sediments composes the basin fill in the Amargosa desert, with most of
the rocks comprising Mg rich clay deposits of Pliocene age. The exposed parts of the Pliocene
basin rocks are dominated by clays and carbonate rocks on the eastern part of the basin with
comparatively few outcrops on the western part of the basin. Thickness of the Pliocene sequence
may be 300 m thick in the Ash Meadows area (Naffe, 1963) and near the Amargosa project, and is
estimated to be 2 to 4 Ma years

Peggy Sturmfels s Birth Parents
Peggy Sturmfels was adopted in the early 1990 s when she was two weeks old. Her birth parents
were just teenagers and couldn t even take care of themselves therefore they felt it would be in
Peggi s best interest if they allow her to get the best life possible with someone who could provide
for her. They opted for a closed adoptionbecause at the time no one knew she was even pregnant.
Her adoptive parents John and Gabrielle Sturmfels agreed with Peggy s birth parents and vowed
not to tell her about the adoption. To her birth parent s wishes John and Gabrielle gave Peggy
the best life a child could imagine, she was their little princess and they treated her like royalty.
Peggy was sent to the best schools and graduated high school as valedictorian. After graduation
John and Gabrielle had a huge surprise for Peggy; they were going to allow her to attend the
college of her dreams: UCLA. Peggi had dreamed to go there but her parents did not feel
comfortable with her being so far away from home. Three months later Peggi had packed up and
had started her first semester of college. She was doing very well and passing all her classes so she
felt it was time for her to have a night to just relax and have some fun. Her friend Abby suggested
that they go to one of the Frat parties close to their dorm. Peggy agreed and they went. At the
party there was drugs and alcohol everywhere and Peggi didn t feel comfortable but Abby insisted
she stayed and referred to her as a party pooper .

Zzzz Best Case Study
ZZZZ Best, a carpet cleaning company, was founded by Barry Minkow in 1982 in Reseda,
California. Barry always wished to succeed in business and become the American Dream of
financial success. When he was nine years old, he worked as a telemarketer in a carpet cleaning
business. Six years later, when he was only sixteen years old, he began his personal carpet
business in his parent s garage in Los Angeles (ZZZZ Best Case Places SEC Procedures Under
Scrutiny). He had three employees and was considered the most successful teenage businessman in
the United States. Minkow discovered he could become very successful in business through
insurance restoration. He would file a claim for restoration of the business from a natural disaster.
ZZZ Best was profitable in carpet cleaning, yet 85% of the business profits came from fraudulent
insurance restoration business. Minkow used insurance restoration as a cover for the cost of the
money he was acquiring illegally (Taylor). Shortly after, insurance restoration became the major
source of revenue for the company s income, rather than carpet cleaning. Minkow s dream in
becoming successful in business caused him to become more innovative. He started using his
counterfeit financial statements to persuade wealthy entrepreneurs to invest in ZZZZ Best.
Ultimately, Minkow realized that the crucial scam would be to make his company public. This
would enable him to utilize the bank accounts of investors nationwide. By becoming a public
company,

The Diversity Of Aboriginal Education
Aboriginal societies have existed for at minimum ten thousand centuries on land that is now
Canada. Numerous aboriginal populations in Canada lack adequate housing, education and basic
facilities. These living situations lead to high states of substance abuse, child death, child
negligence, suicide and violence mostly domestic and sexual cruelty of indigenous women and
kids. Aboriginal women faced organised and institutional labelling and inequity that stop their
access to permitting facilities and proper education. From all these issues I choose liberal party
agenda on aboriginal education as my main focus of policy analysis paper. Educational
achievement is a basic element of societal and economic well being. The level of educational...

Historical Background
Several aboriginal peoples were affected by the government s residential school program which
removes numerous aboriginal kids from their homes. While attending residential schools, some
were forced to endure violence and abuse while many others lost their first languages as a well as
connection with their culture and community (Hick 2014). In 1948, the liberal federal government
showed a main analysis of the Indian Act. Portion of the analysis involved the requirements of the
Indian Act relating to education. In Earlier 1948 the federal government met its constitutional
obligations to Indian education by making agreements with religious authorities (United Church,
Anglican and Roman Catholic, primarily) for the education of Indian children (.McCue 2004).
Many parents and leaders assumed that First Nations schoolchildren were getting a lower education
in contrast to provincial students attending provincial schools. The liberal federal government
agreed and in the course of the 1950s in a notable of integration it agreed about to accurate the
inequity in both the education prospectus and the qualification of tutors (McCue 2004). Moreover,
the liberal federal government decided to cost share the manufacture of several secondary schools

Roosevelt s annual message, delivered on December fifth 1904, refered to Dominican situation and
briefly sketched the reinterpretation of the Monroe Doctrine that would shortly bear his name
(Vesser 314 )
Theodore Roosevelt became president after the assassination of President McKinley. He was
thought of as the first modern president because he was the first to get
involved in foreign affairs, with his Big Stick Policy. Other things he did during his president
that are remembered for are his Square deal, Hay Pauncefote treaty, his corollary to the Monroe
Doctrine, and his trust busting. The Big Stick Policy came upon after Roosevelt said that his
motto was to speak softly and carry a big stick. The press gave his foreign policy the name
(The Big Stick Policy). Roosevelt warned Chronic wrongdoing, or an impotence which results in a
general loosening of the ties of civilized society, may in America, as elsewhere, ultimately require
intervention by some civilized nation (veeser 314). Roosevelt acted boldly and decisively in
several occasions in
his attempt to get the reputation that the US is a world power. Imperialists liked his policy, but
there were still critics that disliked the policy and favored noninvolvement in global politics.
The Square Deal came upon after Roosevelt s first economic crisis. He demonstrated that he
favored neither business nor labor but insisted on a square deal

  • 2. The Use Of Light In The Film Citizen Kane INTRODUCTION In films a big concept has always been the use of lights. The use of lights in films helps create a meaning about what the scene is about and at times reveals a little more. In cinematography there is different types of lighting such as: three point lighting, fill light, key light, high key and low key lighting, top or under, lighting and many more. In the times when films were black and white the use of light is not easily visible. The use of black and white still helped portray the meaning behind many of the scenes, whether the scene got lighter or darker.A film that was successful in using white and black was Citizen Kane by Orson Welles. A film that was in color was the Godfather directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The use of lighting reflects within color because it gives the audience more to look at and it becomes very noticeable when the light changes for a specific scene. The use of lighting styles is necessary in films to bring attention to the scene and to be able to produce an interesting film. The director of Citizen Kane had the choice of making the film black and white or color but eventually decided to create it in black and white. In an interview about the film Citizen Kane a critic acknowledged the use of light and said Exploiting light and shadow inventively to express meaning and establish a desired atmosphere made Orson Welles Citizen Kane a significant historical event that impacted both audiences and film genre in many ways. • 3. Improving Communication Over Shift Change And Improve... Planned Change Change is a constant in health care. Leader managers must understand the complexities of change. Marquis and Huston point out that there must be a good reason to implement change (2015). The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how to implement planned change to improve communication over shift change and improve communication with families within the emergency room. Additionally, the people necessary for this change, along with the necessary steps will be outlined. Problem A problem has been identified in our emergency room that important information is not transferring from one shift to the next. This is not a unique to problem to our facility alone. Additionally, patients and families do not understand what is happening during their visit to the emergency room. In 2015, the Joint Commission set a national safety goal to improve the effectiveness of caregivers communication. Change The specific change being proposed is to institute bedside report. Bedside report would improve communication among caregivers and increase patients and families understanding of their visit. During the bedside report, the off going nurse and the oncoming nurse would double check intravenous fluids, intravenous sites, and the presence of safety equipment and alarms. It is composed in crosses of axons which may produce changes in the innervations of the upper limb muscles, mainly motor part of intrinsic muscles in the hand (MANNERFELT, 1966; KIMURA, MURPHY and VARDA, 1976). Anastomosis in which the branch anastomotic originates proximally in the median nerve and unites distally in the ulnar nerve is known as Median Ulnar anastomosis type or Martin Gruber anastomosis. Martin, a Swedish anatomist, in 1763 was the first one to consider the possibility of connection between the fascicles of the median and ulnar nerves in the forearm (MARTIN, 1763). However, another type of anastomosis can happen in the forearm. When the anastomotic branch originates proximally in ulnar nerve and unites distally to median nerve is simply called anastomosis of Median Ulnar type, or Martin Gruber reverse anastomosis or Marinacci anastomosis. Marinacci in 1964 made a case report of a patient who traumatized the medium nerve in forearm, but still had preservation of the median nerve innervations in the hand muscles, although had denervation of the flexor muscles in forearm (MARINACCI, 1964). The Marinacci anastomosis is infrequently notified. In some studies this type of anastomosis had not been found, being considered for many authors as anatomical anomaly. He also labels himself as a coward, for not being able to stop all the burning of books when it first started. At this point of time, Farber becomes more of a teacher to Montag rather than just a mere consultant. Faber explains that Montag seeks knowledge, not the books themselves but what s inside them. Faber believe that books are feared because they record history and life and that people need leisure time to think, which people did not have the enjoyment at the time. He believes burning books is foolish, because it removes the knowledge and wisdom that they contain from people. He also believes that people need to react and change from the present day society. • 12. Blockbuster History The legacy encompassing the coexistence of blockbuster and independent films are quite interesting and somewhat complex. History shows that at one point the word blockbuster had nothing to do with a movie production and originated back in the 1940s. Blockbuster was describing how large bombs can destroy city blocks in Hamburg during World War 11. The term took on new meaning referring to anything capable of public impact. Another illustration of this would be when a hyped play was expected to be very successful and competing theaters were busted and put out of business. Soon the term blockbuster would become a dominant marketing tool in the world of theater and filmproduction representing anticipated hits or big box office sales. In other words, blockbusters were used interchangeably to the concept of major studios. The movie Jaws in 1975 one of Steven Spielberg classics was a direct beneficiary of this cultural phenomenon. This came over well initially in the public for those exact reasons but soon turned. Because of Lehman Brothers counterparty risk, it affected the entire financial market and another giant, AIG, began to collapse. Housing is cyclical and we had a tremendous 8 year cycle which produced 150% appreciation between 1997 and 2005. This cycle was extended past its natural course through unprecedented low mortgage rates which bottomed at 4% for variable rates that were fixed for 3 or 5 years. Also contributing to the boom were loosened lending rules such as interest only loans which keep the payments artificially low and stated income loans which bypass income verification, making loans available to people who would normally not qualify. In my home area of Southern California, the prior down cycle also coincidentally lasted 8 years, starting in 1989, bottoming in 1995, and rebounding in 1997, causing 20% haircuts from top to bottom. These cycles always go through the same phases: greed, denial, fear, pain and resolution. First speculators disappear, prices become stagnant, and houses stay on the market. For sale signs creep up as demand vanishes and sellers sit on their houses longer, creating a greater supply and putting more downward pricing pressure. Sellers reduce their asking prices, builders offer special incentives. The inventory builds up, desperate sellers discount further, some default on their payments, and the repossession phase starts. True, Lyubov s character does have her tragic moments. At the end of act four, Ania refers to her mother as to having been crying all morning. Lyubov also expresses a lot of stress from not having money, even though her actions do not show it. The main theme of the play can be generally taken to be the passing of the old order of Russian society, symbolized by the sale of the cherry orchard. Since Chekhov did not belong to the ranks of the Ranevsky family, unlike other authors who had written plays on the same theme, Chekhov wrote The Cherry Orchard without becoming personally involved. He was able to see the the comedy of the whole situation and give it an artistic form of a play full of comic characters. For example, in the 10th century only old people used to drink, but now students drink more than their parents. Students see their parents drinking, so they may think that drinking has no effect on health that anyone can drink so why can t the students drink? Therefore, collegestudents have been drinking alcohol since the 14th century. When students are hospitalized or worst yet, die from alcohol poisoning, which happens about 300 times each year college presidents tend to react by declaring their campuses dry or shutting down fraternity houses. This quote states that there are already many students hospitalized or dead. This happened when the drinking age is 21. I think if the drinking age were lowered, the number of students hospitalized might go up or even double. I think that the college presidents should make strict laws around campus that would help stop students from drinking. If colleges were to have a security check in every dorm, every day that will lower the number of hospitalizations. I know that there would be liquor at student apartments, but it would still help lower the number of deaths. I disagree on lowering the drinking age because students may drink more than their limits and go overboard. I visited where the legal drinking age is 18: Montreal s McGill University, which enrolls about 2,000 American undergraduates a year. Many, when they first arrive, go overboard, exploiting their ability to drink legally. But by midterms, when McGill s demanding academic standards must be met, the vast majority have put drinking into its practical place among their priorities, writes Seaman, explaining that the drinking age should be lowered, so ... Barry always wished to succeed in business and become the American Dream of financial success. When he was nine years old, he worked as a telemarketer in a carpet cleaning business. Six years later, when he was only sixteen years old, he began his personal carpet business in his parent s garage in Los Angeles (ZZZZ Best Case Places SEC Procedures Under Scrutiny). He had three employees and was considered the most successful teenage businessman in the United States. Minkow discovered he could become very successful in business through insurance restoration. He would file a claim for restoration of the business from a natural disaster. ZZZ Best was profitable in carpet cleaning, yet 85% of the business profits came from fraudulent insurance restoration business. Minkow used insurance restoration as a cover for the cost of the money he was acquiring illegally (Taylor). Shortly after, insurance restoration became the major source of revenue for the company s income, rather than carpet cleaning. Minkow s dream in becoming successful in business caused him to become more innovative. He started using his counterfeit financial statements to persuade wealthy entrepreneurs to invest in ZZZZ Best. Ultimately, Minkow realized that the crucial scam would be to make his company public. This would enable him to utilize the bank accounts of investors nationwide. By becoming a public company, ...
