1. What Is Education Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of education can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty
lies in the broad and multifaceted nature of the subject itself. Education encompasses a vast
array of elements, from its historical evolution and philosophical underpinnings to the practical
aspects of teaching and learning. Crafting a comprehensive essay requires a careful balance
between providing a broad overview and delving into specific aspects.
One challenge is the need to address various perspectives on education, as it is a subject that
elicits diverse opinions. Some may focus on the societal benefits of education, while others may
emphasize the individual growth and development it facilitates. Striking a balance between these
viewpoints and weaving them into a coherent narrative can be demanding.
Additionally, the constant evolution of educational paradigms and the ongoing debates
surrounding pedagogical approaches can make it challenging to capture the essence of education
in a static essay. Staying current with educational trends and incorporating relevant information
adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, the essay should reflect critical thinking and a nuanced understanding of the
challenges and opportunities within the educational system. Analyzing the impact of socio-
economic factors, cultural influences, and technological advancements on education requires a
thoughtful examination of various sources and perspectives.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on education offers a chance to engage with a topic
that holds immense importance in society. It allows for personal reflection, exploration of one's
beliefs about education, and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on
educational practices.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the topic of education presents its own set of challenges,
it is a valuable endeavor that encourages thoughtful consideration of a critical aspect of human
development. The process involves navigating through a complex web of ideas and perspectives,
ultimately contributing to a deeper understanding of the multifaceted nature of education.

2. Mango Street Metaphors
Throughout the novella, The House On Mango Street, author Sandra Cisneros
conveys Esperanza s ideas and thoughts through her everyday surroundings. The
metaphors in this bildungsroman exploit Esperanza s maturity growth from start to
finish. Without these metaphors, it would be a significant challenge for the reader to
comprehend and connect with Esperanza. Cisneros demonstrates the themes of the
evolution of thinking and personality through the metaphor of balloons, trees, and
bums. First of all, Cisneros showcases the metaphor of balloons as Esperanza s
personal views about being stuck in Mango Street. Cisneros makes an apparent
connection to having some sense of shame with being an occupant of Mango Street.
Esperanza carries this burden of shame around with her, similar to a redballoon, a
balloon tied to an anchor (Cisneros 9). This develops an image in the reader s mind,
allowing them to see the balloon, free to move around, but with no range or hope
of becoming unattached to the anchor. Cisneros conveys that Esperanza is fed up
with her temporary (5) life that should only last for the time being (5). The reader
learns that it is near impossible to simply leave the neighborhood, and leave the
shame behind with the neighborhood itself. Cisneros also chooses the color red for
Esperanza s balloon. This is significant because since red is a standout color, the
shame of Mango Street stands out to those who have not experienced anything
similar to this type of neighborhood. Such a burden singles out Esperanza in the
crowd, making her unfavorably unique. This includes being seen as the other half of
society, that is unsuccessful and that barely has enough money to make repairs to
their own house. The red balloon describes the ideal and vision of freedom, with
several strict limitations and drawbacks that encompass the weight of the anchor.
Along with the metaphor of balloons, Cisneros employs a second non human object
as a representative of Esperanza s evolution of thinking. The metaphor of trees
represents Esperanza s progression of change and hope for the the future, no matter
the circumstance. Appearing in both the beginning and end of the novella, trees are
the building blocks of who Esperanza
3. Causes Of The Musket War
In the beginning of the 19th century, almost all New Zealanders were considered to
be Maoris. The Maoris made up nearly the whole country, with a population
between 100 120,000, while the European population was down in the hundreds. In
1818, the Musket Wars resulted in the loss of over a fifth of the Maori population,
at least 20,000 dead and thousands more captured ( Overview of NZ ). The Musket
War was a war that began when the Europeans introduced their advanced technology
and muskets into New Zealand. The Musket Wars were a series of inter tribal wars
caused by tribes all trading to obtain muskets. At the end of the wars, in 1830, a
new conflict for the Maori population took rise when warfare gave way to
economic rivalry ( The Musket Wars ). From 1830 on, Europeans would come to
New Zealand in waves of hundreds and thousands of people, threatening the Maoris
once complete control over the land. This brewing economic rivalry was what paved
the way for the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand s founding document. This treaty
was interpreted differently by the English and Maoris, something the British had
purposely done. The British plan to deceive the natives resulted in both land and
governmental conflicts. Land disputes caused by the treaty s misinterpretations
between the Maori people and the settlers sparked the New Zealand Wars in 1861
1870. At the end of these wars, new laws were passed that nearly abolished Maori
rights. In 1896, New Zealand was no longer a Maori
4. Charles Fort
First of all Charles fort was built in 1680 and was named after King Charles II and
was a British army base and remained a British army base until Irish independence
in 1921. It was a huge fort with five bastions in its perimeter and it was also built in
a star shape that provided better defense against cannon fire than older round forts.
The style of Charles fort was common throughout Europe at that time and Charles
fort is one of the last remaining examples of a star shaped fort. Second Charles fort
has many different attractions and it was abandoned by the British. Charles fort was
supposed to be impenetrable.it has troop sleeping quarters and it also has parade
grounds, a hospital, gun and ammunition stores, and barracks and stables.
5. Persuasive Essay On Refillable Water Bottles
The reason for millions of people using plastic water bottles is that everyone needs
to drink water. However, many people do not know that a plastic bottle can be more
harmful than beneficial for the drinker s health. Refillable water bottles (which may
be plastic but are made for refillable use) should be used instead of plastic bottles
because they are cheaper, healthier, and better for the Earth. Refillable water bottles
may seem expensive, but in the long run it will be much cheaper. On average,
Americans spend about $5 a week on bottled water, this means you can save $260
per year by switching to a reusable water bottle(Speer par. 5). This statistic shows
just how much the average American (the world wide statistic was not available)
can save yearly, let alone in a lifetime. This statistic also does not include the
average money a year a person spends on soda pop, tea, coffee, or other drinks that
could be put into the refillable bottle if they are bought in bulk. Many people say
they do not have money to buy a nice refillable water bottle, but most people do
have the money it would take to buy an eight dollar Contigo refillable bottle from
Walmart that would do the job. Up to one fifth of Americans have tap water that is
not drinkable (Karp par. 1). However, there are refillable water bottles with filters.
Refillable water bottles with filters may be more expensive, but it is easy to find a
cheap one at Walmart. For example someone could buy a ten dollar Brita filter water
bottle. Investing in a refillable bottle will already save someone money after one
month of use.
Refilling a plastic bottle can have unforeseen consequences. Using a refillable water
bottle is better for the drinker s health than drinking out of plastic bottles only meant
to be used once because they are not good quality. Plastic bottles contain a harmful
substance called polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, which is dangerous to human
health ( Think par. 2). If that is not a serious enough reason, there are even more
chemicals that are found in plastic bottles. BPA has been connected to cases of
hormonal issues and even cancer (Speer par. 4). No one should be consuming
harmful chemicals. Use of plastic bottles, whether for
6. Sexuality As A Social Construct
Hannah St. Lifer
Sexuality as a Social Construct
Heternormativity is the idea that there exist two distinctive classifications of the
genders, males and females, with customary roles in society. The idea asserts that
heterosexuality is the only normal sexual orientation of people and that all sexual and
marital relations must abide by this norm. Society has adopted this belief and
constructed it into a standard of life. It is normal for people to automatically presume
that most other people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is the default sexual
preference. Thus, all other sexualities that are nonheterosexual are a deviation of the
default. Heterosexuality is the most appreciative and is the most acceptable sexuality
for a man and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monogamous, reproductive heterosexuality is also valued socially above all other
forms of sexuality. Society has constructed the belief that heterosexuality is the ideal
sexual identity, and society subsequently critiques non heterosexual identities, such as
gays, bisexuals, and trans, which all fall outside this custom.
As a consequence of society deeming heterosexuality as the ideal sexuality,
sexualities that are biologically infertile are less socially acceptable in society.
Nonheterosexuals are seen as deviants and consequently mocked and ridiculed by
society. Gayle proposes that same sex relationships are inferiors, but, stable, long
term lesbian and gay couples are verging on respectability, but bar dykes and
promiscuous gay men are hovering just above the groups at the very bottom of the
pyramid. For instance, society already considers gay males to be lower on the
hierarchy, but those males, which are less masculine, are even lower on the
pyramid. Society has constructed these less masculine gays to be more gay .
However, homosexual males that still obtain monogamous relationships are more
appreciated in respect to gays who are not in relationships. For example, famous gay
couples such as Ellen DeGeneres s relationship, and the gay marriage portrayed on
Modern Family, are valued in society. These are higher up on the pyramid because
both gay couples are in stable relationships that

8. Anglo Saxon Culture In Beowulf
Anglo Saxons conquered most of the British Isle in the centuries following the
withdrawal of the Roman Empire. While they were Germanic pagans, they crossed
the North Sea to Britain bringing their ideals with them in 449 AD. They valued
many things in their culture; courage, religion, gratitude, strength, storytelling,
loyalty, and morals are among some of the concepts they held in high regard.
Anglo Saxons spent their lives gathered in their lord s great hall to eat, drink, and
listen to songs and stories. They recited and enjoyed many stories about brave
warrior and their adventures. The storyteller, called a scope, would often play music
to accompany the songs and poems on a small harp or a lyre (Encyclopedia
Britannica, n.d.). A popular story told by Anglo Saxons is the story of Beowulfand
Grendel. Beowulf is the story of a heroic prince who kills a fierce man eating
monster named Grendel and his equally horrid mother. The story was first written in
England in the late 1st millennium by newly converted Anglo Saxon Christians.
Anglo Saxons were pagans until they were converted to Christians by Irish and
Roman missionaries in the 597 AD. A mix of Christian and Pagan philosophy in
Beowulf and Grendel can be found throughout the story. Beowulf is victorious only
through the protection of God. In Further Celebration at Heorot, Hrothgar reminds
Beowulf of the Greek tragedians. He conveyed that a tragic fall is inevitable if pride
is untempered by humility. His warning
9. Building Information Modeling ( Bim ) And Geographical...
In recent years, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographical
Information Systems (GIS) have become an integral part of the construction industry
of today, with their rapid expansion and worldwide integration constantly leading to
new ways for us to collaborate and improve. One recent breakthrough for BIM has
come in the form of Cloud computing, which has revolutionized the speed at which
we can collaborate and communicate with each other. The use of Cloud and other
technologies such as the IoT (Internet of Things) are just a few areas that the AEC
sector can exploit within the idea of CityInformation Modeling (CIM).
This paper discusses the current problems associated with BIM and GIS; while the
use of Cloud storage in BIM ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By April 2016 BIM will be compulsory for all UK public sector construction
projects. It has yet to be adopted globally, but within the next decade it will be as
integral to the construction industry as CAD is today. It should not be seen as an
updated version of CAD rather a promotion for integration and innovation. BIM
provides a way for all members of a design team to collaborate on every scale,
efficiently and mistake free, to avoid costly mistakes and delays. Geographical
Information Systems (GIS) also have a big role to play in the future of the AEC
sector, providing alternative approaches and unique outcomes.
The problems with BIM and GIS are hardly few and far between, but interoperability
between the two has huge potential to produce benefits to the industry in areas such
as security and urban planning. The introduction of Cloud computing has the
possibility to vastly expand our ability to create such highly technical models.
Furthermore, the importance of real time analysis on buildings and cities can
undoubtedly lead to more sophisticated, time saving processes that ease our
understanding of BIM and help invigorate smarter engineering methods. But the
question we may ask is, how can this assimilation between BIM and GIS, as well as
countless new technology trends, lead to better, more advanced city models in the
future?

10. Loss Of Community In Waiting For A Jew By Jonathan
Boyarin
In Waiting for a Jew Jonathan Boyarin shows the interior journey he goes through
in order to find his identity and purpose in the community where he lives. This
essay describes the changes Boyarin has undergone both as an individual and as a
member of a marginalized society. Already in the first lines of Waiting for a Jew he
claims that his mission is to find his Jewish identity, My story begins in a
community, with an illusion of wholeness . The essay starts talking about Boyarin s
life in Farmingdale, where he lives in a community with blacks, whites and Jews.
Even though it is a marginal community, he likes it because it is very easy to develop
a transcultural identity there. As a matter of fact, he blends with this multicultural...

way to escape reality and find out if art can be more powerful than a dictatorship.
Because of her deep passion for literature and reading, Nafisi chooses to teach a

The American Civil War seen by many as one the most catastrophic loss of life to
have taken place in the Western Hemisphere except for the Revolutionary Wars.
Accordingly, the Civil War placed some of the European countries at odds on how
to intercede; for fear that their support of the south could be seen as a support of
slavery, and thus the prospect of war with the union. Mays book covers different
opinions from different writers such as Howard Jones, R.J.M. Blackett, Thomas

Undeniably, the British had a long standing fear that Lincoln might use the
Emancipation of the slaves and start a revolt which could grow into a race war, and
thus threatened the British Empire. Indeed, it is no wonder that some back
benchers in parliament cheered as a Tory MP stated, The great republican bubble
had burst. (p.137). The Union minister in London Charles Adams became so
alarmed at the prospect that he wrote in 1862, The great body of the aristocracy and
commercial class are anxious to see the U.S. go to pieces. (p.137) Without a doubt,
the thought of losing Victorias empire was certainly present in the minds of Russell
and Gladstone, who felt the need to intervene on humanitarian and economic
grounds. Both men and the British press chastised Lincoln for his eagerness to free
the slaves in only the Confederacy without computation the consequences. Arguably,
for this reason Russell and Gladstone sought to enlist the aid of Napoleon III to act
in concert in recognition of the south, to compel both sides to stop the war. Jones
heartily suggests that Russell, although a capable diplomat, failed to understand the
complexities and possible fallout of British recognition of the south. He stresses that
recognition would have changed the country as a whole, and would see British
support of slavery as a contradiction
12. Weapons of the First World War
Research Overview of WW1 Weapons During World War I many new kinds of
weapons and technology were invented and improved. Some of these weapons
included tanks, chemical and biochemical weapons, grenades, and machine guns.
Chemical Warfare was used for the first time on a large scale in World War I. There
are two main types of chemical warfare, one affects the surface of the body they
come in contact with and the other affects the nervous system. Almost all chemical
warfare weapons needed to be inhaled to cause severe damage or death. Chemicals
that caused neurological damage acted by blocking the transmission of nerve
messages throughout the body, these types of chemicals included tabun, soman, sarin,

Chemicals that attack the nervous system are very powerful and can cause death
within minutes of inhalation. Nerve agents work by blocking the transmission of
nerve messages within the body ( Chemical and Biological Warfare ). A single
drop of nerve agent can shut down the entire body s nervous system in a few
minutes ( Chemical and Biological Warfare ). Tanks were first used in combat in
September of 1916 by the British ( The WW1 Tank ). When tanks were first
created they were basically an armored car with a track instead of tires for easier
off road use. The first prototypes of tanks were very flawed and would take a lot of
improvements to become what they are today. They were not well adapted to
moving over uneven muddy battle fields so the tanks were easily bogged down by
mud and sometimes got completely stuck. Tanks were not only effective by their
protective properties but also had a scare factor towards the beginning of the war
since they were new and the German army had not experienced them in battle
before. View slits were one of the main problems with the first tanks. For one they
were too small to be able to effectively see anything out of them while the tank was
moving. And the slits were targets for enemy gunshot.
The name tank came from the British, they shipped the parts for tanks in crates
marked tanks to try and disguise what was

being affected by poaching and habitat loss. For me, personally the poaching was the
most horrific thing that I never wanted to see happen to a rhino. The thing that really
bothered me was the poaching had dramatically declined the rhino population in the
50s and 60s. Many people, who poached the rhino, literally left them to die and they
care about the repercussion of the situation. They caused the population of the rhinos
to decline and they not think about the affect it had to the ecosystem and they
continue not to care. As long as they are able to get what they want, they do not care
about the global effects this has. Throughout the research that as done about black

against the protagonist. Kazim seems to get more blinded with keeping his
position of power as he progresses. Towards the end of the novel he has the
protagonist and the UN special response team surrounded in an old fort.
Completely and utterly crippled by the need to maintain his role as Dictator of
Mali he ignores the fact that the people inside the fort for the most part are highly
trained special operation soldiers and his army consists of men who have seldom
had to use their guns. Throwing strategy out the window Kazim sends his soldiers
at the fort in waves ordering that Any man that stops moving forward is to be shot
on spot, no one expects you to survive. Die with honour (Cussler 490). The UN
troops mowed down Kazim s soldiers with ease. This loss of life was completely
unnecessary on Kazim s part as he had the whole Malayan military at his disposal.

15. Advertising Is An Visible Constant Presence Essay
Even when we re blissfully unaware, we are being persuaded. In today s media
driven world, advertising is an almost constant presence. It is on television, in the
films we watch, all over our social media accounts, and even plastered on the walls
of locations that we visit every day. Advertising is meant to market a product or
service to a consumer, utilizing mostly tactics of persuasionto do so. Because
advertisingis so continually present, companies must be more innovative than ever
with their persuasive methods. Depending on the product or service, these methods
vary but some of the popular ones include appealing to the internal attitudes of the
consumer by using strategic and repetitive methods for the delivery of the message to
appeal to the target audience. Virtually all industries do this, though a unique
example of persuasion in advertising is found in the medical and health industries; the
United States is one of the few countries that allows direct to consumer advertising for
pharmaceuticals. The healthcare industry has always had the ability to advertise but
with the new medical advertising, its budget for marketing has exploded as well.
The Food and Drug Administration, also commonly referred to as the FDA,
previously banned direct to consumer advertising for drug companies, but the
restriction was lifted in 1997 and a new age of medical advertising was born.
Previously, various medications and health services were found directly through a
visit to a doctor s

saxophone (switched from alto to tenor after the first piece), and drums played two
songs. While the titles of each song were not disclosed, one of them is originally

Introduction Research Topic: Music makes up a huge part of our life and its
everywhere. From the music we listen to on the radio to our favorite artist.
According to Doctor Bernardi, music does have any effect on how we feel (2007).
Whether it makes us happy or sad, energetic or lazy, the effects of music are
observable in our everyday life. Since there is an effect of music on our mood, my
investigation will be see if there is a correlation between the genre of music and the
heartrate, in humans. Aim: To investigate the effects of different genres of music,
such as rock music and classical music, on the heart rate? Research Hypothesis:
There is a relation between different music genres and heart rate; as heavier music
genres such as rock will lead to a higher heart rate than the soft classical music.
Scope of the research: Investigating the different effects of music genres on the
pulse. By recording the responses of each participant, as the music moves from
soft genres to hard genres. Genres such as Classical and Rock but the songs of
each will have different tempos to each other to get accurate results. To see if the
different types of genres of music create psychological responses of the sympathetic
nervous system on the heart. The research will be done most primarily and partially
secondarily. THE METHOD: Take participants aged 18 and below. Make 20
participants sit down and rest in a quiet environment. After sometime take the pulse

eBay s challenges are multi faceted, and it remains to be seen whether by simply
returning to its roots as an auction site it can win back buyers and sellers who have
long since given up on using the site. Online retailing has evolved significantly
since eBay was founded over a decade ago. Savvy consumers have learned how and
where to find deals online, but value intangibles beyond price when making their
purchase decisions. Consumers expect a level of service that in some respects is
beyond eBay s ability to control in its role as middleman. Given that, eBay would be
better served looking beyond product strategy and focusing instead on improving the
shopping experience for buyers and sellers as its constant tinkering seems to be doing
more harm than good.

22. Counseling
Briefly outline and describe the essential elements of a solution based, short term
pastoral counseling strategy such as its goal orientation; brief (i.e., number of
sessions) and time limited (i.e., length of each session) nature; basic tenets and
guiding assumptions (briefly explain each tenet and assumption), essential
interpersonal skills, and possible behavioral positions (i.e., attending, blaming,
willing).
The goal orientation for the short term pastoral counseling should be to get the
counselee to focus on their own goals that they have for themselves, and not so much
what others or the counselor has for them. The class presentation, Overview of a
Solution Based, Short Term Strategy, presents that you should limit the counseling...

The solution focused counselor wants to describe the goal as something the
counselee can get on track with upon leaving the initial interview. (Kollar, 2011, p.
131) The chief aim is to get a picture of who the counselee wants to be once the
issue they are dealing with has been dealt with. It should be a picture that glorifies
God and has substance. The counselor s role during this phase is that of a
collaborator with the counselee, as they work together in gaining a better
understanding of what the counselee has as their goals. A guiding assumption
through this phase is the God is already starting to heal the counselee and is already
working a higher purpose through them.
Phase 3 Developing the Action Plan
The main purpose in this phase is to assist the counselee in creating an plan of action
to start enacting in their life. The goal of the phase should be to put together a
realistic plan that they can the counselee can start carrying out immediately. Wisdom
does not necessarily consist of knowing what to do in an ultimate sense, but in
knowing what to do next. (Kollar, 2011, p. 127) It should not be a plan for the distant
future. It s one that should promote strong emotional/ mental health, allow for a
closer walk with Christ, and assist in the building up of relationships around the
counselee. The plan should also be one that the counselee will be able to keep rolling
with well after the counseling sessions have ended.
23. Theme Of Symbolism In Beowulf
The concept of queer theory is one that is often questioned and readers ask, Did the
author/poet purposely add these homoerotic quotes or did it just happen? In a close
reading of some Anglo Saxon readings, there is plenty of evidence to support the
case of there being queer theory works implemented and how it relates to the overall
plot of the story. The poem of Beowulfcontains a lot of hidden imagery, symbolism,
and other underlying messages throughout and the hidden theme or theory that is
most prevalent throughout the poem is the queer theory, or that Beowulf is actually a
homosexual. There are multiple situations and circumstances that would give the
reader this impression within the text and the use of different literary devices give...

Coding is used to explain one event that is happening in the poem, but there is a
hidden message or an alternate meaning behind it. Coding is used a lot during the
physical altercations that Beowulf is involved, primarily during the fights with
Grendel s mother, as well as the final dragon. During the fight with Grendel s
mother the prince of War Geats, warming to this fight with Grendel s mother,
gripped her shoulder and laid about him in a battle frenzy: he pitched his killer
opponent to the floor but she rose quickly and retaliated, grappled him tightly in
her grim embrace. The sure footed fighter felt daunted, the strongest of warriors
stumbled and fell (Lines 1537 1544). The event that is occurring in the plan text
would say that Beowulf and Grendel s mother are just fighting, but if interpreted in
terms of the queer theory it could be seen differently. This altercation could be
interpreted as because Beowulf is being dominated by a female and he doesn t like it
and feels threatened as well as being in such close quarters with a female. The second
instant of this is during the hand on hand combat with the final dragon. When
Beowulf was down after the dragon bit him he drew a stabbing knife he carried on
his belt, sharpened for battle. He stuck it deep in the dragon s flank. Beowulf dealt
in a deadly wound (Lines 2702 2705). If not being interpreted in the context of queer

Improving Feeding Outcomes in the NICU:

Establishing an Infant Driven Feeding Pathway
The most common reason preterm infants face prolonged hospitalization in a
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a delay in acquiring full oral feedings
(Shaker, 2013). The purpose of this project is to improve feeding outcomes for
preterm infants at Blank Children s Hospital s (BCH) NICU in Des Moines, Iowa.
Traditionally, feeding practices in the NICU have followed a physician led, volume
driven model based on an infant s weight and gestational age. This model defines a

Feeding difficulties often persist past NICU discharge with an incidence ranging
from 19 to 80 percent (Shaker, 2013; Sundseth, 2013). The average daily cost for
NICU care often exceeds $3,500 per infant and a delay in establishing full oral
feedings further increases the cost of care (Murakas, 2008). Delayed discharge also
places infants at risk for hospital related morbidity, leads to prolonged maternal child
separation and increases parental stress (Gennattasio, Perri, Baranek, Rohan, 2015).
Preterm infants face a number of challenges in attaining full oral feedings including
physiologic instability, neurologic immaturity and behavioral state disorganization
(Gennattasio, Perri, Baranek, Rohan, 2015). The time in which preterm infants are
learning to feed is characterized by rapid motor and neurodevelopment in which
every feeding experience plays a role (Shaker, 2013). Physiologic stress during
feeding may encourage sensory motor pathways in the brain, leading to maladaptive
feeding behaviors, learned feeding refusals and long term feeding aversions
(Shaker, 2013). Traditional, volume driven feeding practices fail to account for an
infant s hunger cues, the physiologic stress caused by the challenge of oral feeding
and the quality of an individual feeding (Newland, Weems L Huillier, Petrey, 2013).
According to Sundseth Ross and Browne (2013), feeding practices must move from

Humanitarian Assistance and Sierra Leone Introduction When a country fails to
provide the basic needs of survival for its people, the international community is faced
with the issue of intervention. However, there exists no clearly defined doctrine to
guide governments or humanitarian organizations in these matters. Some people
believe that the protection of sovereignty is more important than the possible benefits
of intervention, preferring that governments focus on domestic concerns. Opposing
this are those who believe that humanitarian intervention is necessary to resolve many

The RUF forces led attacks that left many dead and maimed civilians in their wake.
They employed brutal tactics, involving cutting off hands, arms, and legs, while
leaving many of these amputees alive. The other especially troubling aspect of the
RUF s fighting tactics was its use of child militants. These children were abducted
and forced to commit some of the worst atrocities of the war. Britain chose to
intervene and put a stop to this cycle of violence. While it may have had ulterior
motives for its intervention, as will be discussed below, it also felt a certain
obligation to help Sierra Leone , which once was Britain s colony. Sovereignty and
Non Intervention With the preservation of sovereignty a major issue to them, some
people believe that the concept of non intervention, or staying out of another
country s affairs, is the proper course of action for the world. According to Adam
Roberts in his article Humanitarian Intervention Is Not Effective, the policy of non
intervention provides a clear rule for limiting the uses of force by states and for
reducing the risks of war between the armed forces of different states. . . . It involves
respect for different societies and their religions, economic systems and political
arrangements (40). Those who take this poistion believe that referring to a military
intervention as humanitarian aid skews the reality of what it actually involves.

The class was working on the letter U that day. I noticed some of them started the

they were walking around.
Communication was another topic area that was focused on. Kayla did show signs
of good communication skills. I didn t get to witness them first hand, because she
was too shy to talk to me. She talked quite frequently to other classmates. There was
even confusion which she solved about her name. There was another student in the
class named McKayla, and one of her friends had gotten the two names mixed up.
She was calling McKayla, Kayla. Kayla was very polite in correcting her saying,
No, I m Kayla, she s McKayla. The other student didn t seem to understand, so Kayla
had to repeat herself many times.
The way that the children interacted with the adults was interesting as well. The
children were able to talk with them as if they were on the same level as the adults
were. They talked with them as if they were friends instead of teachers, which I
thought was very impressive. Usually, the students tend to only look up to the
teachers, not look equally to them. That makes it hard to get over seeing them that
way after they become adults. They sometimes tried to imitate the adults, by speaking
using voice tone. They haven t been able to master that skill yet, but they re trying to
use tone in there speaking.

Introduction Serial murder crime though rare, is not a a new phenomenon. This
crime has been committed for centuries and will continue to be a crime that is
committed throughout the world. It is unfortunate and scary that this is probably
one of the most serious of crimes that cannot be prevented. According to the U.S.
Department of Justice, serial murderers commit their crimes because they want to.
Rehabilitation is not obtainable for serial killers due to their inability for remorse
and empathy, or to see people as people and not objects(Knight 2006). This
research paper will focus primarily on serial murder within the U.S. First and
foremost, a legal definition provided by the U.S. Department of Justice will be
presented to set forth the discussion of this research paper. As follows will be a
detailed discussion explaining serial killer typologies with the use of examples of
known serial killers in the U.S. Types of serial killers are: power oriented, mission
oriented, visionary, and hedonistic, each typology will be clearly defined and
explained. Some serial killers can have a mixture of each typology s characteristic.
Serial killers that will be discussed and used as examples to represent the content of
this research paper will be, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, Robert Berdella, Jeffery
Dahmer, and lastly the most prolific serial killer in American history, Gary

ROUGH DRAFT
Abstract
This paper presents a descriptive analysis of four characters of the novel The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn written by Mark Twain. The paper compares and
contrasts such duos as Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, and Pap Finn and Jim
the slave. These very characters were chosen for the analysis and arranged in such
pairs not accidentally; such choice is caused by different ways of living of the
characters as well as by the distinctions of their nature.
Introduction
Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyerare two perfectly known characters among the
American readers. In fact, they are a very prominent duo in American literature.
These two boys absolutely differ from each other in almost every way. One can even

Obviously, Tom Sawyer envies Huck Finn s freedom. As it is known from the Mark
Twain novel, Sawyer resents going to church, visiting Sunday school, and washing.
Tom skips classes at regular school and stays away from doing tasks such as
whitewashing the fence. Besides, Tom envies Huckleberry s simple and free way
of living (Wolff). Paradoxically, all the boys, including Tom Sawyer, who have a
strong desire to be as free as Huck is and are jealous of his way of life, could not
survive under the conditions that Huck faces. However, while Tom is jealous of
Finn s lifestyle, the latter admires Sawyer s book learning and perceives him as a
perfect model of civilized behavior. Huckleberry does not question the boy s
knowledge when Sawyer tells what pirates wear; he simply admires Sawyer and
eagerly follows him. Finally, Tom Sawyer is a conventional person to the society and
its limits, while Huckleberry Finn is an outcast, nonconformist, and a free soul who
treasures his own freedom.

Pape tries to convey his ideas by explaining the meaning and history of terrorism in
chapter two. Terrorist groups have many things in commons. The terrorist groups are
weaker than their opponents. The modern suicide terrorism is lethal because the
terrorist purpose is not only to die, but to kill others. Pape states that his account
about suicide terrorismshould not be treated as a general explanation for terrorism.
Pape wrote that terrorism has two purposes: to gain supporters and to persuade
opponents. There are many types of terrorism, but Pape talks about the one that are
more important such as demonstrative terrorism, which seeks publicity, destructive
terrorism, which seeks to influence and persuade through injury, and to gain support,

Americans believe that anti American terrorism can be stopped only by wholesale
transformation of Muslim societies, a belief that helped create public support of the
invasion of Iraq (Pape pg. 102). Pape states that the suicide attacks are not because of
religion, but terrorists want to withdraw the democratic force from their home.
Terrorists do not want foreign occupation to change their values like the United States
is trying to do with Iran. Foreign occupation includes when a state takes control of a
territory, and military occupation. In other words, the foreign states are responsible
for the suicide attacks because they occupy a foreign countries. The citizen of those
foreign countries do not want a foreign country trying to control their government.
Terrorist attacks innocent people because they are weaker than their opponents, and
are not able to fight back against the opponent s military, so they attack innocent
people. Suicide terrorist do this because they don t have the money or power to fight

Editing, Cinematography, and Sound in Gladiator
The film that I have chosen to analyse is Gladiator. I have chosen to analyse the
scene where the gladiators are battling in the Middle East. The scene contains many
features and editing techniques which make the fight sequence exciting and
thrilling. The scene begins with a medium high angle shot of a goat with blood
dripping down its body. This shot frames the body of the goat and gives it a sense of
vulnerability. The shot creates meaning to the viewer who can predict that the scene
might contain violence or bloodshed of some sort. The camera then zooms outward

The lighting is very low key and most of the light filters from the roof, overhead. The
overhead lighting dominates the gladiatorГ‚ s faces and brings out their facial
features. This effect shows the faces of the gladiatorГ‚ s and their anticipation of
the battle which is about to commence. Non diegetic orchestral music starts to
begin once more building the tension. The camera then cuts into a close up of
every gladiator whilst moving slowly to the side where it stops and gives us a side
view shot of the gladiatorГ‚ s showing in detail their facial expressions. This is
where the dialogue of the main character begins and the camera moves slowly to a
medium low angle shot, thus giving the character a sense of authority. The character
speaks slowly and when he accentuates an important point the camera moves to a
close up of the main character of the film (Russell Crowe), showing the viewer his
feelings and his anticipation. In the background there is the external diegetic sound of
the crowd chanting, kill, kill, kill. This along with the orchestral music sounds like a
heart beat as there is a short pause between every chant. Again the heart beat sound
reiterates the anticipation of the gladiators; this is effective as it makes the scene more
exciting and exhilarating to watch. The mimic of the heart beat and chanting are

Economy
Change in Economic Structure Harmful to U.S. Economy By: Samuel Winegar
Submitted to: Dr. S. Ray Barnes 05/05/2015 Thesis Unemployment has been on the
rise in the United States in recent years. One of the large contributing factors of this
is the change in the structure of the country s economy. Many jobs, particularly
manufacturing and industrial type jobs are being outsourced to other countries. An
increase in unemployment due to a change in the economy is structural
unemployment. This paper will discuss how structure unemployment is causing
harm to the United States economy. Background It is evident that the economy of
the United States is changing. The world in which we used to see an economy of
all American made products and American services is rapidly disappearing. Many
American companies are outsourcing the jobs they have to offer to other
countries. These are the very jobs that helped create our economy and help us
thrive. James Moreland states The capitalist market in the United States makes it
nearly impossible for any successful company to avoid the lure of cutting American
industrial jobs and shipping the work abroad. Free trade agreements such as
NAFTA and our membership in the WTO have caused the U.S. to be forced to
compete with third world countries such as China and Mexico, where wages are
often less than $4 an hour. (Moreland 2014) in his article The Outsourcing of
American Jobs Hurts The Economy on Every Level . However, with
33. Scythian Women s Role In Greek Myth
Amazons were mythic female warriors, who fought many male Greek heroes and
supposedly some real ancient men. They are first mentioned in Homer s Iliad as
Amazones antianeirai, but their part in Greek myth likely goes further back. They
are one of the most prevalent subjects of Greek vase paintings, and they are
commonly seen in murals, clay dolls, sculptures, and monuments of the ancient
world. They were said to be fierce fighters, mainly with bows and javelins. Amazon
s fighting was up to par with the male heroes they faced. They valued comradery,
much like Greek hoplites. They are associated with land to the East of Greece,
especially Scythia. The Ancient Greco Roman world commonly believed Amazons

Scythians were nomadic peoples of the steppes that thrived from the seventh
century BCE to around CE 500. Scythian women lived much like the men (Mayor
2014, 10 11). Pomponius Mela (ca CE 43) says the women participated in war
because the Scythians were so savage (3.34 35). Three out of four female graves of
the steppes include weapons, which suggest they were warriors (Mayor 2014, 11).
One fourth century female grave near ancient Tyras includes a skeleton with skull
wounds and a bronze arrowhead in her knee; moreover, the grave s goods include a
quiver, twenty bronze tipped arrows with red stripped wooden shafts, an armored
leather belt with iron plates, and many commonly female goods. Arrows are the
most common weapon in female warrior graves. All evidence shows that armed
women and men were buried the same (Mayor 2014, 64 66). Scythians were not
Greeks, but they did interact often. Greeks saw them defiantly as other than them, not
to mention female heroes were far from an actuality in Greek society. Amazons were
popular in myth, but they were not meant to reflect a Greek conception of warfare

hearing these really weird popping sounds. Like, click click click. Over and over
again and they actually got louder! Okay, there was nothing nothing in the room
that might have did that. No fan, no heating, no AC, no television, clock, watch,
whatever! It was the most basic hotel room ever. And the clicks sounded as if
something was floating above me! Like circling above me, like a swarm of bees or
something. I was scared sh*tless, but I just tried to go to sleep. And never opened
my eyes until the morning, when the bright sun shone in the room. Going to
breakfast, I saw the bullet holes left in the ceiling by Billy the Kid and other saloon
fighters, and heard the stories told by the kitchen staff about plates and silverware
that would randomly fall to the ground and break, and the flickering lights, and other
freaky things which I forgot.
Even though the storyteller did not personally see the ghost, the story still possess
many of elements that are similar to all ghost stories. First, the ghost story takes place
at a place where the ghost frequently visits. Similar to other tales, rather than running
around aimlessly, ghosts usually haunt one place. This haunting of one particular
location is frequently interpreted as the ghost having unfinished business at the place.
In this case, the ghost is apparently the wife of the hotel s founder, Henri

Maneuvering around the entrance wall of the exhibit, draped in a large sized font
Dancing in the Moonlight Zara Masks of Burkina Faso, visitors are engulfed in an
atmosphere vastly different from the rest of the Harn Museum of Art. The exhibit
held from October 27, 2015 until October 23, 2016, presents a performance of history
and culture belonging to the Zara Muslim community around the city of Bobo
Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. The Lo Gbe is a danceritual created by the Zaras as an
embodiment of their culture and honors the deceased members of the Zara
community who have served bravely, righteously, and wisely. In the Lo Gbe dance,

The entire exhibit was curated and structured to imitate the Lo Gbe performance
which was created to commemorate the traditions of the Zara Muslims, the deceased,
and the friendly alliance of the Zaras with the people of the Boba community. The
lighting and music played throughout the gallery imitates the Lo Gbe dance on nights
of full moon which is held each month. Exhibition viewers maneuver around the
strategically hanged photographs on the wall as well as the center sculptural figures
robeed in traditional Lo Gbe costumes much like the dance of the Lo Gbe in which
performers prance around the audience. These costumes belong to master craft artist,
Gaoussou Sanou who based many of his inspirations from the environmental
limitations of the ritual nights. Although moonlight often overshadowed figures,
Sanou strategically stitched bold, contrasting patterns and elaborated the headdress
which is emphasized in the moonlight. The Lo Gbe costumes and dance become an
expression of Zara Muslims history, culture, and
38. Genetic And Environmental Factors Of Crohn s Disease
After researching for hours and viewing so many different diseases, I came across
a disease I am familiar with and have actually learned about during this online
course. Crohn s disease which affects millions of people around the world is a type
of disease that has had research done on it for years and with all of the research that
has been done, there still has not been a finding on the exact triggers of this disease.
First of all, Crohn s disease usually involves the small intestineand it may lead to
nutrient malabsorption. One thing that has been figured out by researchers is, genetic
and environmental factors definitely contribute to the development of Crohn s
disease. This disease can really occur in any region of the Gastrointestinal Tract (GI
Tract) but, for most cases it will affect the ileum, and the large intestine. Patients who
suffer from Crohn s disease will likely develop Lesions in different areas in the
intestine, and eventually normal tissue separating the affected areas. Inflammation of
the intestine can extend deeply into intestinal tissue and this usually is caused by
ulcerations, fistulas, or fissures. Fistulas are normally the main cause out of those
three, this is where abnormal passages between the organs or tissues allow the
passage of fluids or secretions. With scar tissue resulting from Fistulas, the tissue
eventually thickens, and this narrows the lumen and it sometimes causes strictures
and/or obstructions. We know that having Crohn s disease
39. Mark Knapp s Model Of Relation Stages
In a developmental perspective of relational dynamics, communications researcher
Mark Knapp, developed a model of relation stages. In Knapp s model, he included 10
stages, within 2 broad phases, coming together at the beginning of the relationship
and coming apart at the end. The first phases encompasses the first 5 stages, the last
phase includes the last 5. However, other researchers have suggested that a third
phase, relational maintenance, should be included. This stageencompasses the fourth,
fifth, sixth, and seventh stages. These ten stages are as follows. As the first step,
Initiating is the act of making contact and sowing that you are worth interacting with.
This stage tends to be quite brief and is typically includes handshakes, small talk, and
friendly expressions. Moving forward, Experimenting is the second stage. The

During integrating, the parties begin to interact as more of a social unit. At this point
both people in the relationship, start to take on characteristics of each other. Bonding,
the fifth stage, is when the parties then go show the world that their relationship
exists. This is typically when the relationship is given its most legitimacy.
Differentiating, the sixth stage, is considered to be the beginning of the downward
slope in Knapp s model. Within this stage, you start to see the individuals involved in
the relationship, begin to pull away from each other. Now, this may seem like a
negative, however it can be a positive action. By pulling away from each other they
are able to maintain their individual identities while also maintaining a commitment
to the relationship. At the seventh step, Circumscribing, members of the relationship
tend to decrease their communication in quantity and quality. This is considered to be
the opposite of the integrating stage, due to the fact that there is a shrinking of
interest and

Samantha VanGeest Prof. Dickerson WRT 150 11 15 October 2016 Art Therapy
in Adult Coloring Books Art therapy can be defined as a form of psychiatric
rehabilitation which comprises of the inspiration of free expressiveness through
coloring, sketching, and molding. Additionally, it gets used as a curative action or
as an assistance to an individual s analysis in regards to specific conditions.
Coloring books were previously thought to be reserved for children and adults who
undertook the activities with the children. The art therapy of coloring for adults
has proven to be helpful. Most of the arts done under the therapy have found their
way into the market, and additionally, the help they offer the adults who get
involved. Being able to distract yourself from your daily problems, negative
thoughts, and that fact that anyone can do it, are all reasons that this type of daily
therapy should be used more often by adults and therapists treating adults. Using
adult coloring books for therapeutic benefits from physical problems like cancer
and high blood pressure has been proven to be good. According to Schwebel, adults
using coloring books as art therapy is relaxing. Being involved in the coloring art
therapy reduces anxiety and issues of blood pressure which is dangerous for an
individual s health. Additionally, it has helped people who have had traumatic
experiences to overcome. They are able to do this through engaging in interesting
events of paintings and drawings which

How do we fund our schools for the proper education? How do we support our
educators to give the best of their ability for the children? There is a saying You get
what you give. If this is to be true, I would very much like for my daughter to receive
the best education with me supporting the schools as much as possible. I have
attended every one of my younger sisters PTA (Parent Teacher Association)
meetings, and befriended all of my daughter s educators to be as involved in her
education as possible. I was conflicted with the lack of school funds epidemic. Since
I was younger our priority to do any extra curriculum that involved the school was to
build a fundraiser and seek sponsorship. This was understandable since our learning
curriculum were funded by the state and was top priority to any spending means.
Today Texasschools are attempting to survive the legislative with threats of
privatization, punitive accountability, unfunded mandates, and school choice

42. Globalization Of The American Style Fast Food
Globalization is one of the most popular issues that have been discussed through the
world by the sociologist for decades.(James A. D, Dick. P, Yongseok Seo 2006)
According to John Tomlinson s (Tomlinson 2006) cognition of globalization. He
interprets that:
Globalization is a complex process because it involves rapid social
change that is occurring simultaneously across a number of dimensions in the world
economy, in politics, in communications, in the physical environment and in culture
and each of these transformations interact with the others. (p. 1)
As far as I am concerned, globalization is happening around daily life. For example,
McDonalds, they start from a small restaurant in California to one of the world s
leading food service retailers, with more than 35000 restaurants in more than a
hundred countries.(McDonald 2014) McDonalds spread the American style fast food
worldwide. This can be seen as a globalization of food culture.
Since the societies are becoming more and more alike nowadays and leading to a
phenomenon known as globalization. Some people afraid that globalization will lead
to the loss of cultural identify while some think it can have a good impact on the
societies. Based on the bookгЂЉGolden Arches East: McDonald s in East

43. The Resurrection Of Christ In The Gospel Of Jesus
The Gospels of Mark, Luke, and Matthew are identical to the Gospel of John since
they all manage to portray the life and work of Jesus Christ while establishing the
divine nature of Jesus. However, unlike the other three gospels, the Gospel of John
establishes the ministry of Jesus Christ through his wondrous miracles. Although
Jesusperformed many breathtaking miracles throughout his lifetime, perhaps the most
significant miracle is the resurrection of Lazarus from the dead. The raising of
Lazarus is a pinnacle event in the Gospel of Johnsince it foreshadows the crucifixion
of Jesus, and it also serves as proof that Jesus is the resurrection and the light of the
world. Furthermore, the raising of Lazarus is a continuous metaphor for the
continuation of faith in God through all aspects of life.
When Jesus heard the news that his good friend Lazarus had passed away, Jesus
refrained from going to the town of Bethany to fulfill his father s will which is that
God s glory will be revealed to mankind once the son is glorified through the father.
Jesus insists on staying in Judea for an extra two days serves as an allusion to the
Passover scene in John 13 since it foreshadows the death of Jesus. The primordial
reason that Jesus visits Lazarus until the fourth day is because Jesus himself claims
that the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth
(Matthew 12:40). The death of Jesus is significant because, through Jesus ultimate
sacrifice, we as
44. The Impact of Chemistry on Medicine Essay example
Chemistry has had a large impact on medicine as we know it today. In fact
medicine would have never gotten as advanced as it has today without chemistry
to help it out. Everything that medicine does is based on chemistry at its core. A
long time ago when there was not nearly as much knowledge of chemistry and the
medicine was much more basic as well. All of medicine is made of different
elements in one way or another. Chemistry will probably also have impacts on the
discoveries in medicine yet to come. Back in the 1200 s the human race had just
discovered the circulation of blood. That shows how far we have come with modern
medicine. Things like vaccines and even genetics such as DNAwould never have

than one form of cancer. A different form of medicine that elements are a big part
of is dentistry. Over sixty tons of gold are used for things such as fillings every
year. Even elements that are known to be radioactive have found their place in
medical studies. After hearing all of that I believe it is safe to say that elements or
chemistry in general has had a large impact on medicine as a whole. Before
medicine was like it is today there was a much higher fatality rate after getting sick.
It didn t really matter what you got sick with considering treatment was not a very
common thing in the 1200 s. Most women died during or after child birth due to the
lack of sanitation. There were no cough drops for when people had a sore throat.
Things such as the flu would cause death much more frequently just because there
was very limited treatment for it in a world where blood circulation was a newfound
discovery. One of the restrictions on past medicine is the elements used being
readily available. Obviously it wasn t as easy to get access to things such as
magnesium back then as it is today. That fact alone would limit the growth of
medicine for some time. But as chemists began making discoveries other fields of
science grew as well. Throughout history chemistry has had a large impact on the
field of medicine. Things such as

about 0.40, which is much larger than the other two firms.

46. The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is an important milestone in Canadian
history. An effort through rigorous debate and compromise gave birth to this
document that defines our collective values and principles by guaranteeing and
protecting the fundamental rights of its citizens. Prior to the Charter, there was no
gurantee in Canadathat rights and freedoms would not be taken away by legislation.
The Charter also allows courts to render the constitutional duty so that any decisions
made are consistent with those rights and freedoms. The Charter was established
firmly in The Constitution Act, 1982 , with the declaration of this act Canada
escaped from the severe practice of concept of parliamentary supremacy. The Charter
has an enormous effect on court s decision power to award justice to important and
debatable issues about policies that affect public. In awarding the verdict courts are
not even reluctant to rewrite laws that violate the testament of the Charter. The judges
have a duty to regulate the rulings of both provincial and federal governments which,
disagree with the root value of Charter. The Charter will always remain a matter of
debate among different schools of thought. The opponents of the Charter argue that it
weakens the essence of a democracy by striking down legislations passed by an
assembly with elected members of parliament. While on the other hand it can be
argued that a written constitution in a modern democratic society strengthen its

My gosh, we couldn t have 30 percent of the mortgages going bad here, so we re

these mortgages to see if they were actually affordable and sustainable. How could
this happen? It was a breakdown at every step of the way, and regulators included.
The majority of it was done outside of insured depository institutions. But there
were some banks that were doing it, too. And I think that was more in response as
they were losing market share to third party originators who were the shadow
banking system pretty much completely outside the regulatory system. They could

49. Mrs Mallard Symbolism
The Story of an hour by Kate Chopin is a short story that takes place in the late
1800s. This short story is about Mrs. Mallard, a lady with diagnosed heart trouble,
being told of her husbands death, and showing the way she interprets and reacts due
to this lost. A theme that is present in this short story is the confinement s of marriage.
Kate Chopinuses the imagery of Mrs.Mallards mindset after the discovery of her
husbands death, symbols such as that of Mrs. Mallards heart illness, and both the
ironic situation and dramatic irony of Mrs. Mallards death at the sight of her
husband to contribute to this subject on marriage as a whole. The author uses
positive imagery for Mrs. Mallards reflection on the loss of her husband, something
that would usually be projected in a negative connotation. Imagery that projects the
image of someone becoming released from something terrible, in this case

52. Forgiveness In The Novel Disgrace
Disgrace is a novel by the Nobel prize winning writer Coetzee set in the post
apartheid period in South Africa, a period when people were trying their best to learn
to forgive the past wrong done by the oppressive, ethnic government. The question of
what it means to forgive is raised in the novel. Forgiveness is seen in the South
African society as something conditional, the wrongdoers have to do something so
that they can be forgiven. The Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act
34 of 1995 established a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) to help those
victims who were uncomfortable to forgive. It forged a new relationship among
amnesty, trust, and forgivenessin forgiving, people are not being asked to forget, but
to remember, so that such atrocities will not happen again. In this essay, I will first
talk about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission so as to criticise its presumption
of the significance of truth revelation. I will support my notion with reference to
some scenes in the novel Disgrace and point out some characteristics of forgiveness.
Then I will put forward what I think it means to forgive a past wrong and finally
question the necessity of the existence of the Commission.

In a short video on TRC amnesty hearing of the case, a real confrontation between
the wrongdoer Thapelo and those who had lost their loved ones took place. Thapelo
asked for forgiveness from the bottom of his heart though he clearly understood that
some would forgive and some would not even after knowing the truth. One victim s
sister said, We can t forgive you, you say this and you say that, you have more than
one story. This statement hints that having too much truth may hinder the process of
forgiveness, to forgive does not mean that you must know what the truth is and accept
