Port Charlotte specifically, is directly hit by a hurricane every 12 years or so. It has
gotten to the point that any time a hurricane begins to form in the ocean, regardless
of how far away it is, the residents of Port Charlotte watch the weather reports

read or interpreted by someone, then it means nothing at all. Only when a piece of
literature is read and given a response does it mean anything. The role of the reader
is essential to the meaning of a text, for only in the reading experience does the
literary work come alive. Furthermore, each reader can interpret a text differently
and is affected by outside influences. These influences can effect major areas of the
text and in some cases give it a different meaning. In John Fowles s The Magus, the
reader s response to the authors story telling can differ by their social class, reaction
to the main character, and gender. These key differences can give the story a whole
new meaning and why the reader s response to literature is so important. In The
Magus, the reader social class can change their outlook on the story. The Magus
follows the main character Nicolas Urfe, a young middle class Englishman. Nicholas,
being from the middle class, receives more than the lower class and less upper class

Yeast, an article written by Walter Ong in 1990, starts with an explanation of a
problem the author believes lies within Catholic institutions. That problem is the
challenges the Church faces to be accepting in an ever growing pluralistic world,

The Allied Powers, during World War II, recognized the only way to achieve a
decisive victory was to work in conjunction, and utilize one another s strengths and
assets. However, Great Britain and the United States had differing views on the
proper strategy. The United States believed concentrating its power at the earliest
possible moment to attack an enemy s critical center of gravity was the appropriate
course of action (Greenfield, 1963, p. 25). The United States desired to conduct a
cross channel amphibious assault and securing the French coastline from German
forces. Great Britain viewed American strategy, operations, and tactics as reckless and
inexperienced (Greenfield, 1963, p. 43). Winston Churchill preferred his forces to
concentrate their efforts in the Mediterranean and North Africa, through more
cautious engagements, to preserve economic stability in the region, while allowing
the Russians to fight Germany directly and weaken German resolve. Successful

Reading the Past In Reading the Past, Ian Hodder argues that Processual, or New,
Archaeology is flawed and that we must look at approaches used before its adoption
and integrate parts of those approaches into the study of archaeology. He points out
that Symbols in Action helped him to develop three ideas regarding how to do this.
First, we must consider that material culture has meaning. Second, that the individual
is important to the development of theory in archaeology; and finally that archaeology
is most closely related to history and should consider that in its approach. In looking
at meaning in material culture Hodder brings up how ethnographic work showed that,
contrary to previous belief, interaction between cultures could actually lead to a more
marked difference in their pottery styles. He also referenced burial practices and
refuse buildup, and how they differ based on cultural beliefs of death and dirt,
respectively. He also goes on ton argue that the material culture is not solely an
adaptation to the environment, but also depended upon the culture that produces it.

speaking directly to the reader, and uses conjunctions like and to create a natural flow.
Typographic elements are also used in this text to make reading more interesting and

headphones with a bad quality and the use of a Hyperbole comparing the experience

Science In Stephen Gould s Mismeasure Of Man
Stephen Gould wrote the book Mismeasure of Man and did a great job giving his
opinion about eugenics and refuting other scientist beliefs on how to measure the
intelligence of a man or woman. Gould does not write a chapter on eugenics but he
does reference it a few times throughout his book and he does so to make a point that
he doesn t necessarily believe it was right. Eugenicsis a type of sciencethat studied
the ways to make the human population better and better, with the use of science
and heredity factors to try and increase the chance of certain traits to be passed
down to his/her future offspring. The good thing is that in today s society, we no
longer rely and use eugenics to improve the population. Gould wrote this book to
provide his opinions and ideas on measuring humans intelligence and to also tell
what errors he has discovered during his research. Gould also references certain
works by Charles Darwin, Paul Broca, and Francis Galton. In the case of Eugenics
and the science behind it, I am very glad we as a society no longer believe in it and
depend on it. Science is used in every aspect of life for new discoveries and life but
I do personally believe that in the case of Eugenics, that science was misused. In
the past, eugenics was used and many women was sterilized for not having high
enough IQ scores and considered to have a low intelligence against their will. I
don t think that an IQ test can test how smart a person can become or how smart
their future offspring will become. I do believe in genetics and heredity but we do
have the right in our own intelligence. Humans are made to go to school to learn
the basics of life and history and I don t believe there is a limit to how much a
person can learn. I have gone through all of high school, undergrad, and now going
for my masters and I of all people should know that every day we all learn new
things and our brain can constantly make new connections and become more

The Internet of things has significantly impacted everyday lives and continues to
develop throughout generations. It refers to pertinent things such as the ever growing
networks of everyday physical objects, and other internetenabled systems and devices
which process and analyze large and fast moving data set along each other. To sum it
up, the internet of thingsis a fast growing network of materials where everything is
synced and can collect as well as exchange data using sensors that are embedded in
devices. Although individuals believe that the Internet of Things (IoT) consequently,
will strip every one of privacy and security, the internet of things ought to be utilized
in society as it positively transforms the way you live and relate to our environment
to make it more productive and useful for us.
The concept of the internet of things abbreviated as IoT was introduced as early as
the late 90 s by Kevin Ashton, the Executive Director of Auto ID Labsand a professor
at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Now, the Internet of things is already a
disruptive technology capable of determining fundamental changes that are happening

External Estimates of the Number of Abortions Pooled and by Individual Year
The counts of the total number of abortions for the study period years come from
published information from the Guttmacher Institute s census of abortion providers
(Finer and Henshaw 2003; Jones and Kavanaugh 2011). Following prior research, I
used the CDC s age distribution for each year to calculate the expected number of
abortions that occurred in the age distribution of Add Health for each year, except in
the years when an age distribution was collected by the Guttmacher Institute s survey
of abortion patients (Kost and Jones 2007; Fu et al. 1998). Because the CDC data is
provided in ages ranges (under 15; 15 19; 20 24; 25 29; 30 34; 35 39; 40+), the Add
Health data was restricted to best match these ranges (see Appendix 2 for further
details).
The overall quality analyses (years 1994 through 2007) could potentially include
pregnancies between the ages of 10 (the youngest individuals in Wave 1 in 1994)
