of your main product and ancillary
texts?

2. Image of artist .
• I believe that the image of the artist is most important when trying
to sell a music video and also an album as such in the Digipak and
magazine advert . It is important to make the artist image constant
as in if the artist is being portrayed as a wild personality this should
be consistent throughout the construction stage . The same colour
scheme should remain throughout the branding of the artist to gain
a relationship with the audience allowing the artist to recognizable .
In our own construction of the music video and Digipak i have
noticed we wished to portray our artist as a young wild exciting
character. That could relate to people in the age range of 16-21. I
think this was more explored in the media products of the
magazine ad and the Digipak as the mise en scene and also the
facial expressions discovered on the artists’ face . The images taken
fit in with same concepts and ideas of the music video allowing this
to be the bigger selling point.
3. Mise En Scene
• As seen in the music video the setting based throughout ,most of
the looks very budget and urban being what connects with our
target audience as looking through our research they were used to
taking in and relating to music that was on youtube and produced
by the age range as them . The genre being garage you would
normally associate the underground and the urban scene towards
it.
• The clothing worn in the music video by the artist were chosen so
they looked very casual and relaxed not placing into any category.
Therefore they would be able to fit into any genre and could attract
a larger audience considering . This also reflects on the digipak and
advertisement as from when an member of the audience feedback
group made the comment ‘ the cd cover and advertisement is very
neutral you are unable to acknowledge which genre of music it is
part of .
4. Marketing & Genre
• All the features above are very effective as a combination
together from the main product being the music video and
also the ancillary text to complete a good construction of
the entire project .having the right codes and conventions
to allow you product to sell to your target audience .I think
that having a calm neutral upbeat music video and a very
vibrant cd cover and advert is good for marketing
considering the genre is garage . The imagery that comes to
mind when I think about garage is bright and vibrant
colours I believe this is the way forward .The urban theme is
connoted in the music video hints the music studio looking
very dull grim . The dull idea of the studio is contrasted by
the artist wearing a bright yellow top and big head phones
on his head , in the Digipak .
