1. Question 6 – What have you learnt about the process of constructing this product?
2. Digital Single Lens Reflex Camera During the production process of my media product I had to use a lot different software's on the computers and also new technology that I had never used before. One piece of technology that I had to use was the Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) Camera. The camera has many different settings for different environments. Some of my pictures were taken outside and some were taken inside which means that I had learn how to use the different modes. Learning how to use this camera has increased the quality of my images dramatically to what they would been if I had not used the DSLR.
3. Computer Software There were many different computer software that I had to use to produce my magazine. The two main ones though that I had to use the most were ‘Adobe Photoshop’ and ‘Quarkxpress’. I used Photoshop to create my front cover and edit the images that I used on my front cover, my contents page and my double page spread. Photoshop allowed me change the lighting of the images and to crop them down to size. It also allowed me create front cover so that it looked professional. Being able to create the contents page in layers and selecting each when you wanted was very useful.
4. Computer Software Continued Quarkxpress was also very useful in creating my contents page and my double page spread as I was able to organise the information into columns so that the readers find it easy look at. Quark also has tools that you easily access and range of page formats although I didn’t use all of them they could be very useful for future work. It was very useful when creating my double page spread to add another page onto the screen which gave me a preview of what the print out would look like. You could not see this is you created each page separately and as the pages were meant to be related topics this also helped me when writing the text as well.
5. Using Blogger Using Blogger to present my coursework, I found, was very practical as it allowed me to improve my work easily and also made it easier to work at home if you do not own a memory pen. It has allowed me record all of work and also show my work in progress. It was very simple to use and has allowed me upload videos and slide shows which will hopefully show my understanding of the technology. Blogger as well as practical for handing in work, it is also very useful for receiving feedback when at home, in the holidays or if you are ill. It is the best way of communicating your work to the person who marking it. Blogger is also economically and environmentally friendly as you do not have use ink and paper to print all of your coursework.
6. YouTube Before now I have not had a YouTube account but as I have answered some of the evaluation question with use of video interviews it has suddenly become very helpful and I have found how useful it can be. I have learned how to put videos onto the internet which, not only could I not do before but I would have not bothered to find out how. I am glad that I used video interviewing because it is very authentic. You can actually see the work and effort that I have put in by finding people in my target audience and asking them questions relevant to my magazine and what they think. From YouTube you can embed your videos onto a blog for people to see and comment on.
