analyzing the case and providing a social scientific explanation accounting for the
dynamics at work in the case.
2. Read Dr. Sear’s book Arresting Dress: Cross-dressing, law, and fascination in
Nineteenth-Century San Francisco. You will need to be familiar with the major
concepts and the empirical research reviewed in Sears.
3. Locate a research article focused on violence towards sexual and gender
minorities using the SFSU Library article databases.
4. You will be using Google Scholar to locate the article. Read the entry in
Wikipedia about “Google Scholar”. This entry will help you understand how
Google Scholar works: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Scholar. Read this
entry before conducting a search in Google Scholar.

- 4. GOOGLE: • PLEASE USE EDUCATIONAL SOURCES • Use Advanced Google Searching/ Google Scholar/ Google Books • Look at the URLs in your list result to find .edu or .gov • Check your website for credibility • Remember that you are creating a Reference page with citations.

TAKING NOTES: • Diagram of a cell in color with labels. • Identify the major functions of cell. • Describe the location of cell types. • Describe the major body systems associated with the cell. • Include other interesting information about your cell type. paraphrase Remember to document each resouce you use to get this information.

IN TEXT CITATIONS • referring to the works of others in your text is done by using what is known as parenthetical/in text citation. • Each style places the citation in the same place- at the end of the sentence which contains the reference, right in front of the period. Applies to paraphrasing And summaries too.

Editor's Notes
- The AMA uses a numerical superscript format for citing sources. Number the citations in the order presented in the paper. Superscript numbers are placed after quotation marks, commas and periods. They are placed before semicolons and colons. + If citing several studies, separate the superscripts by commas. + If citing sequential studies, use a dash to indicate the sequence. + If citing a source already cited earlier in the paper, use the original number of the superscript.
