The Superhuman Registration Act
Captain America, Iron Man, Spider Man, and The Fantastic Four. All of these superhumans are now,
by law, required to register under the government, by order of The Superhuman Registration Act
(SHRA); and therefore, are exposing their identities and falling under control of the government.
However, the SHRA, written and executed as it was, is in grave need of revision and refinement.
Improvement can be made by adding policies such as not forcing superhumans to reveal their
identities to the public, an option to choose between registration or retirement, and the construction of
a private housing community for those who are registered, as well as their loved ones. When
registering for the SHRA, superhumans will not be compelled into revealing

Analysis Of Centennial Park Pond System
1. Introduction and objectives
Centennial Park has the largest freshwater wetland system in inner metropolitan area of Sydney. Its
ponds cover approximately 26 ha of area connected in a water flow system that acts as detention basin
for stormwater drainage during flood events (Centennial Parklands, ponds, 2016). Moreover, these
ponds provided the water as the Sydney s main source of drinking water from 1837. The park provides
an open area for families and kids to enjoy picnics and therefore the pond is required to maintain its
water quality and sustainable for the environment.
The report reviews the Centennial Park pond system; it acts as a performance around the outskirts of
the flood retention basin, and the report also reviews regarding full flood conservation and water
quality norm to find a potential problem in the system and is coming up with improvements.
2. Background
Flooding History: Historical records show that there were several flooding within the catchment
November 1984, January1991. For instance, driver Avenue was road flooded (Michael Wyk , 2016).
Water Pollution: From previous engineering reports, from early mid1990s, it was estimated that blue
green algal blooms occurred in most of the ponds in the Centennial Park over several years (Mal
Brown, 2012).Due to the accumulation of the nutrients in the Musgrave Pond from the storm water
inflow, the nutrient enriched the water in the pond (Mal Brown, 2012).
There is no doubt that this situation deteriorates

Michelle Obama Biography
Michelle Obama was born as Michelle La Vaughn Robinson on January 17, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois.
She was the 44th first lady of the United States and wife of US president Barack Obama.
Michelle grew up in a small bungalow on Chicago s South Side. Her father, Fraser Robinson, was a
city pump operator and a Democratic district captain. Her mother, Marian Robinson, was a secretary

warm family since normally they prefer sharing meals, reading and playing games altogether.
Craig and Michelle, almost 2 years apart in age, were often mistaken for twins since the siblings share
some similar looks. Michelle as well as Craig were raised in accordance with education and had
learned to read at home by the age of four. That s why, both of them skipped the second grade. By the

The Persian Empire Essay
THE PERSIAN EMPIRE Similar to the Roman Empire the Persian Empire stretched across vast lands
without any serious rivalry. At the height of the empire it stretched across, not only, Asia, from the
Aegean to the Indus River, but also included part of the continent of Africa. We get the word, Persia,
from the Greek word Parsa meaning, Above reproach . The Persians unlike most other Empires would
be ruled under a benevolent ruler. This would bring a large amount of cultural diffusion to the Empire.
The empires history is separated into three historical periods: Old Persia (600 300 B.C.E), Middle
Persia (300 800 B.C.E.) and modern Persia (800 Present). The height or the Empire was reached
around 500 B.C.E. (Ancient and Medieval History ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

School To Prison Pipeline Essay
The School to Prison Pipeline is a national trend wherein children are funneled out of public schools
and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems ( School to Prison Pipeline ). This phenomenon
brings children into the juvenile justice system at a very young age. An article published in the journal
Urban Education explains that, The school to prison pipeline contributes to the atmosphere of
increased surveillance of schools including police presence in schools, zero tolerance policies,
physical restraint tactics, and automatic consequence policies, resulting in suspensions from school
(Martin, Beese 2015). By increasing police presence in schools, children are more likely to be
searched, questioned, or targeted by police than they would be without police present. And as a result,
children are far more likely to be subject to school based arrests the majority of which are for
nonviolent offenses, such as disruptive behavior than they were a generation ago ( School to Prison
Pipeline ). For example, if a child was misbehaving in class in a school that had a police presence,
they could possibly get arrested and sent to prison. But if a child was acting the same way in a school
that did not have any police presence, they would not be arrested. Police would most likely be present
in a school in an urban environment or poor neighborhood because more crime occurs in urban and
poor places, so in theory, by placing police in schools, they would be preventing any crimes

The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies

complexity of the miracle of life. According to the World Health Organization, pregnancy is the nine
months or so for which a woman carries a developing embryo and fetus in her womb. The
combination of forty six chromosomes, twenty three from the father, and twenty three from the
mother, give the push to the domino effect of constructing a human being from scratch. In this essay,

Their vision statement recognizes the means of setting a central goal that Starbucks aspire to reach,
that ambition has altered the company s vision over the years. For example, Charles Shultz envisioned
the company operating 2000 stores within the United States by the year 2000. Unfortunately, that
objective was not possible due to the risk the company undertook. After rethinking the company s
inherent worth, a simplified vision of, being the most recognized coffee bean house in the world
became Starbucks mental picture; and today, Starbucks Corporation holds the title as such (Starbucks
Corporation, 2010).
Starbucks desire as the leader in the specialty coffee industry is to be acknowledged for its
responsibility to coffee farmers and their families to improve their well being. The corporation s
primary stakeholders are broad organizations such as, coffee trade associations, suppliers, and groups
with interest in sustainable coffee production. Including non profit groups focused on human rights,
social justice, and environmental issues. Other stakeholders include governmental agencies such as, U.
S. AID (Starbucks Corporation, 2010).
National governments in coffee growing countries have a major investment in Starbucks. Some of
these countries include Costa Rica, Guatemala, Kenya, Nicaragua, and Tanzania. Starbucks strive to

Emotions In Albert Caltus s The Plague By Albert Camus
When confronted with difficult circumstances, the emotions of people, their personal beliefs, and past
experiences can affect their reactions or lack thereof. In every situation humans are put in, they find a
way of surviving with it by first emotionally reacting and then possibly physically taking action.
Throughout The Plague by Albert Camus, he makes it clear that people cope with challenging
situations in different ways, and the ways can help decide how they take action; the methods can affect
people, like Rambert trying to flee to a life he once had, Paneloux blaming everyone around him and
Rieux trying, but failing to find a solution.
Looking back at happier times and reminiscing on nostalgia can often help a person come to terms
with the situations they are currently facing. Like many people in times of struggle, Rambert focuses
on the life he had before going to Oran and the love for a women he left behind in order to escape his
current circumstances both literally and figuratively. Rambert believes that he, was brought into the
world to live with a woman (Camus 85) and that he doesn t belong in the town. Being separated from
his wife is what is pushing Rambert to leave the town, even if that means possibly spreading the
disease to the rest of the world. Rioux warns Rambert of this but Rambert is persistent on leaving no
matter the consequences. Rambert realizes that he can t count on help from [Rioux]... but leave this
town [he] shall (Camus 85). Rambert is so

Installing A Wireless Sensor Network Essay
INTRODUCTION A Wireless Sensor Network or WSN is supposed to be made up of a large number
of sensors and at least one base station. The sensors are autonomous small devices with several
constraints like the battery power, computation capacity, communication range and memory. They also
are supplied with transceivers to gather information from its environment and pass it on up to a certain
base station, where the measured parameters can be stored and available for the end user. In most
cases, the sensors forming these networks are deployed randomly and left unattended to and are
expected to perform their mission properly and efficiently. As a result of this random deployment, the
WSN has usually varying degrees of node density along its area. Sensor networks are also energy
constrained since the individual sensors, which the network is formed with, are extremely energy
constrained as well. The communication devices on these sensors are small and have limited power
and range. Both the probably difference of node density among some regions of the network and the
energy constraint of the sensor nodes cause nodes slowly die making the network less dense. Also it is
quite common to deploy WSNs in harsh environment, what makes many sensors inoperable or faulty.
For that reason, these networks need to be fault tolerant so that the need for maintenance is minimized.
Typically the network topology is continuously and dynamically changing, and it is actually not a
desired solution to

Tropical Wave Research Paper
A tropical wave emerged into the Atlantic from the west coast of Africa on September 14. After
detaching from the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) on September 18,[7] the wave quickly
developed into a tropical depression about 575 mi (925 km) west of the Cabo Verde Islands.[3]
Moving northwestward, the depression intensified according to ships and satellite imagery,[7]
becoming Tropical Storm Faye on September 19.[3] The cyclone then moved westward and was
unable to intensify further due to increasing wind shear,[7] before weakening to a tropical depression
on September 23.[3] Shortly thereafter, Faye turned to the north, crossing an upper trough axis over
the central Atlantic. Southwesterly flow aloft allowed the system to re strengthen,[7] ... Show more

October 24, while located about 100 mi (160 km) east of Daytona Beach, Florida. The depression
drifted northward on October 25 and eventually acquired tropical characteristics by October 26. Due
to tropical storm force winds, the system was reclassified as Tropical Storm Hallie, while situated
about 100 mi (160 km) east of Charleston, South Carolina. Hallie accelerated to the northeast starting

The Impact Of Shale Gas Revolution On Natural Gas From...
A crisis in global energy consumption has been increasingly discussed in many world energy forums
which concern in the diminishing of fossil fuel and natural gas. Consequently, the US government has
attempted to seek a new resource to serve the global energy demand (SHAFIEE, 2009). The natural
gas from shale formation, abundant resources in US, has been discovered for a long time but there is
no efficient method to extract the natural gas from this formation. Moreover, the route to convey the
large amount of shale gas is one of our challenge that must be safe for human and environment, and it
should be a low cost technique as well (ARMOR, 2013). Furthermore, the impact of shale gas
revolution should be realized in a consequence of local protesters at the drilling sites or people who
are directly affected from the extraction projects. Therefore, the aims of this project are to describe the
most feasible technique and the future prospects in natural gas from shale formation.
Background and Significance
In a few decades, global natural gas demand has still sharply grown up every year. The world s crude
oil and natural gas reserves are usually the main resources for energy consumptions in our world.
Consequently, the total amount of these reserves has been significantly regarded by the leading
industrial countries (WANG, 2014). US government, especially, is the first leader who has attempted
to seek the new energy resources for the American energy consumption (Fig. 1). Although

Terry Malloy On The Waterfront Essay
When 43 year old director Elia Kazan was called to the stage in the House of Un American Activities,
he did something that would change his career forever. He testified as a friendly witness which
resulted in hatred from many of his colleagues. In 1954, two years after his testimony, Kazan
produced On the Waterfront. Being one of his most famous works, On the Waterfront was an instant
success, winning an abundance of awards and solidifying Kazan as one of the best and most
influential directors of the early film making era. Terry Malloy, the movies main character, was a
middle aged shore man who was caught up with the wrong group of people, which resulted in him
being part of a mob hit. Throughout this film, Malloy battled his own self conscious about him being a
part of the killing of Joey Doyle, all the while being in a relationship with Edie Doyle, Joey s sister.

confessed to what he had done to Joey and then said to the priest, But you know if I spill, my life ain t
worth a nickel. To this Father Barry replied, And how much is your soul worth if you don t? Kazan felt
the need to include this exchange of words for a couple of reasons, the biggest being the fact that he

Vocational Education has been around throughout history in ways that were not noticed as a trending
way for education. After the wars, families were self sustained through personal knowledge and self

Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would...
Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding the
growing polypeptide chain of the amino acid to the peptidyl site. This is in correlation to the process
of translation, in which the RNA is translated into a polypeptide chain with the aid of Ribosomal RNA
and transfer RNA. To begin the process prior to treatment, first the initiation process starts through
tRNA and methionine serving as catalyst to form a complete ribosome in an empty A site. The RNA s
from the A site are linked to the P site which allows the appropriate amino acids to connect with RNA
using the A site as an amino acid storage for the polypeptide chain. Without the P site, or the blockage

De Methylation is the removal of methyl groups from DNA all together, which would lead to active
corresponding cancer genes thus enhancing the threat. So far it is clear to scientists that Methylation of
DNA directly influences gene expression, cancer being abnormal in expression patterns. In repressing
or stimulating methylation in the cell, research indicates that transcription of cancer cells can be
repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a good candidate for an anti
cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in cancer cells, they would be able
to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in
cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth
arrest.
The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the
Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help regulate
the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic development.
Pertaining to Transcription, there are a couple factors typically encoded by the proteins in the
Homeobox gene, within the gene, that bind to and control activities of other genes in the Homeobox
Gene family (http://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/geneFamily/homeobox). The formation of limbs, organs and

Although the book tells you that Detective Kinderman was a big time friend with Karras, but honestly,
I never felt that when reading the original The Exorcist novel.
The story behind Legion focuses on a murder investigation involving the deceased Gemini Killer and
Kinderman trying to figure who exactly is behind these most recent killings, which bear the true MO
of the Gemini Killer. He eventually ends up interviewing a psych patient who says he is the Gemini
Killer, but when Kinderman visits him, he is completely thrown for a loop when he sees the definitely

unfortunately, features pages and pages of Blatty s theories on evaluation and random nonsense that
has nothing to do with the main story. Honestly, the book ended up being awful because of that.
When 1990 was approaching, a sequel to The Exorcist was being demanded. Blatty came on as
writer/director and went to work adapting his once screenplay, now book, Legion. The original idea
for Exorcist III, at the time called Legion, was to follow the original story pretty closely and not have
any sort of exorcism at all. Blatty hired actor Brad Dourif to play Damien Karras, as Jason Miller was
indisposed at the time and the film pretty much was wrapped up before the studio was like Hey, why

currently the only serious contender in the high end market in the United States. GMCR invests
significant resources and capital in engineering and research and development in order to keep Keurig
s position as the leader in the single cup brewing market. As a result, they have a strong and growing
portfolio of market leading, proprietary technology. Keurig s integrated engineering team drives fast
and original product development in brewers, portion packs, and high speed packaging lines; all three
areas that supported Keurig s single cup system. The engineering team at Keurig includes mechanical,
software, and nutritional science, as well as quality assurance and industrial engineering. The
company s emphasis on quality products, easy to use features, and innovative technologies has earned
Keurig high marks in customer satisfaction. GMCR started distribution of the new single cup Keurig
premium coffee system to office coffee service and food service providers in 1998. Keurig s strategy
to gain market share in the office market is to sell machines to distributors and encourage them to give
the machines away or lease them for a small fee.

Abstract
The research question of this extended essay is: To what extend the need of being perfect leads man to
its own destruction? It is an analysis of perfection through the film The Black Swan. In the film the
main character, Nina, is an obsessed ballerina who at the end destroyed her own life. I began the essay
trying to prove that her obsession with being perfect is what leaded her to her destruction and death,
but after analyzing the movie it all turned around.
I based my investigation in reviews of the film, different type of ... Show more content on

Or should the question be: which meaning does it have in our society? Is it even possible to reach
perfection, or is it something out of the hands of a human being? It is true that perfection is something
everybody strives for, to help them succeed in the things they propose for their lives. Many people
aspire to be perfect in different ways, it could be a mother, a student, a teacher or even an artist with
that desire of reaching perfection, but do we know the real meaning of this word? According to the
dictionary one of its meanings is a quality, trait, or feature of the highest degree of excellence.
(Dictionary, 2013) Excellence and perfection are far from being the same; which is why many people
say it is impossible to be perfect but possible to reach Excellency, because perfection is supposed to
exist as an abstraction of our minds, but not to be attainable in the physical world. (Wais, 2010)
As well as there is people who believe perfection is not attainable, there is also people who believe
that it is possible to reach that, when they give everything they have. It is a much divided opinion,
which will perhaps never come to one only general conclusion. To succeed in life people must always
work hard and sometimes sacrifice some things they think are important, but putting them in front of
another type of situations they would not be taken as a priority. The majority of these people who
believe in perfection

The Blackfeet of the Americas
Who are the Blackfeet and how do they refer to themselves Though referred to as the Blackfeet or
Blackfoot, they prefer to refer to themselves as the Nitsitapiksi, which means Real People. This term
is not only used by the Blackfeet to refer to themselves but to all First Peoples of the Americas (Ni tsi
ta pi ksi, The Blackfoot Gallery Committee, 2001, 3). The Blackfoot Nation is a confederacy of three
Nations, the Kainai, the Pikani and Siksika (The Blackfoot Gallery Committee, 2001, 2/3). These
three Nations however are more commonly referred to in mainstream literature as the Blood, Peigan,
and the Northern Blackfoot or the Blackfeet of Montana and are not the terms chosen by the Blackfeet
Nations to refer to them selves (The Blackfoot Gallery Committee, 2001, 2). This terminology, it
would appear results from mistranslations of Blackfoot words, or names given to the Blackfeet from
neighboring First Nations (source). For example the term Peigan is believed to have originated from
an English mispronunciation of Pikani. How the Kainai ( which translates into Many Leaders )
became known as the Blood Nation has many explanations, one is that it describes the term
Aapaitsitapi by the Cree due to the ceremonial paint which was used on the face and hands which
looked like blood. A second explanation is that the term in fact referred the weasel pelts the Kanai
wore and it was mistranslated to mean the blood peoples (Bastien 2004, 10). Siksika is a literal

Air In Respiratory System Analysis
Breathing is an automatic process that takes place in the respiratory system. Air enters and exits the
respiratory structures through the process inhalation and exhalation. Air moves in and out of the lungs
as a result of changes in pressure. Inhalation is achieved when the pressure inside the lungs is less than
the pressure outside of the lungs. The diaphragm contracts pulling air into the lungs. When the
pressure inside the lungs is less than the pressure outside the lungs, exhalation occurs allowing the
diaphragm to relax expelling carbon dioxide waste from the lungs (Acrobatiq, 2014). Air can be
inhaled through the nose or the mouth. When air enters via the nose during inhalation, it travels
through the nasal cavity. Once in the nasal cavity, the air is warmed and filtered by the nose hairs. The
air proceeds through the nasal cavity into the pharynx which includes the nasopharynx, oropharynx
and the laryngopharynx. The nasopharynx is the upper part of the pharynx above the soft palate. The
oropharynx is separated from the nasopharynx by the soft palate. The oropharynx also makes up the
back wall of the throat where the tonsils and uvula are located. Air continues through into ... Show

During external respiration, oxygen and carbon dioxide move from the blood in the capillaries into the
alveoli by diffusion. In internal respiration, cells release carbon dioxide as a byproduct of metabolism.
Oxygen arrives via the hemoglobin in red blood cells. These red blood cells then in turn, carry carbon
dioxide out from the cells to the pulmonary capillaries in the lungs to be exhaled. Oxygen and carbon
dioxide also use the process of diffusion to move in and out of the cells and tissues during internal
respiration. The process of respiration and gas exchange continues with each breath taken. It happens
continuously from birth to death. This process is vital to life and the function of all cells in the human

Why Did A Golf Ball Grow So High Essay
Discussion:
From the information gathered from graph 1, we can see that each of the ball s bounce heights did not
vary significantly. Unexpectedly, the golf ball bounced the highest, smashing the tennis ball s results.
While each of the balls shared similarity in terms of their bounce height, the golf ball was the only ball
which bounced considerably higher than the others. The table tennis ball followed the tennis ball, but
the ball which achieved the least height was the baseball. There was a significant difference between
the bounce heights of the baseball and the golf ball
I believe that the reason of why the golf ball bounced so high was because of the material from which
it is made out of. As the golf ball hit the ground, its molecules ... Show more content on

This could have been improved if a clamp was used to hold the ball on the 1 meter mark, and if the
clamp was slightly lower or higher, at least all the balls would be dropped at the same height.
To ensure that the ruler is level to achieve an accurate result, a spirit level could be used. Even though
it may not make a difference when on a flat surface, it is always worth checking if you would like
your results to be as accurate as possible.
Conclusion:
The results from this experiment show that the elasticity of a ball does not affect its bounce height.
The golf ball was not as elastic as the tennis ball, but its results were much higher than that of the
tennis ball. The results in this experiment tell us that while elasticity does have some affect on the
bounce height of the ball, another variable is altering their bounce height. The information gathered
from the table and the graph did not support the

Phytoplankton are microscopic photosynthesising organisms which live in water. In favourable
environmental conditions they have a very high rate of reproduction. They are eaten by microscopic
animals called zooplankton. In an investigation, samples of water were removed from a lake at

An Effective Compensation Structure Of Employees Essay
Overview Organizations spend a great deal of time and resources in developing an effective
compensation structure one that is lawful, aligns with the strategy and objectives of the business itself,
is externally competitive and can recruit and retain talented employees. However, not all positions will
fall into this meticulously composed pay structure. There are groups of employees who will fall
outside of the scale used for everyone else, with compensation packages seemingly at odds with what
everyone else receives (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2016, p. 502). Executives are one such group of
employees specifically senior level executives, or CEOs. The computation of compensation CEOs
receive does not follow the same process as that of other positions. As such, the compensation
practices for senior level executives have come under fire (Milkovich, et al., p. 504). There are many
opponents to current executive compensation levels in our economy, many of whom cite the
multimillion dollar total compensation received by some Fortune 500 executives compared to average
worker pay levels (AFL CIO, 2014). However, there are also proponents of executive compensation
who believe that the inherent risk involved in these positions, in addition to market variables and job
duties and responsibilities warrant the, sometimes confounding, compensation figures (Kaplan, 2008).
This paper sets out to examine these arguments to determine if CEOs are over compensated in our
economy.

Hockey Stick History
Many of you are perhaps aware of the World s Oldest Known Hockey Stick that was in the news a
couple of years ago. Its most recent former owner, Mark Presley of Berwick, NS, sold it to the
Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec in January of 2015 for $300,000. Presley happened
upon the stick during the year 2000 as it hung on the wall of a North Sydney barber shop. The
building s proprietor at the time, George Ferneyhiugh, who has since retired from the haircutting
trade, had it hanging there since the early 1980s. The relic s original owner was William Moffatt of
North Sydney s Pottle Lake area and it is referred to as the Moffatt Stick. Carved into the stick s blade
are the initials, WM. In 2008 Presley purchased the stick from Ferneyhiugh for a sum of $1,000 and
then proceeded to find out the relic s long history. He took the stick to Mount Allison University in
Sackville, NB where experts in dendrochronology the science of dating events through the study of
growth rings in trees performed tests. They determined that the stick s wood came from a tree that was
chopped down somewhere between 1835 and 1838 making it the oldest known hockey stick. ... Show

Ifrs Adoption Affects Taxes, The Mergence Or Adoption Of...
IFRS Adoption Affects Taxes The mergence or adoption of the International Financial Reporting
Standards (IFRS) in the United States will affect the taxes a company will pay due to the differences
in IFRS and U. S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). One major hurdle to this
happening is to get the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International
Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to agree on exactly how this will happen. For most U.S.
companies, a major concern is how this adoption of IFRS will ultimately affect the way they do
business, how it changes reporting, and how it will affect the company financially. A real concern is
changing from a rules based standard (GAAP) into a principles based standard (IFRS) used
throughout the rest of the world. From a tax perspective, the focus of this research is to show how
some of the required changes in Last In First Out (LIFO), inventory evaluation (LCM), and revenue
recognition be changed using IFRS.
Last in first out The use of LIFO as an inventory management system is recognized as one of three
management systems and has been accepted by GAAP. However, IFRS does not recognized LIFO as
an acceptable management system. Many advocates of LIFO argue that it provides an accurate
revenue match with expenses since sales reveal the most recent selling prices, then the cost of goods
sold should also reflect the most recent inventory purchasing costs. However, the ending inventory
balances shown on the

Rhetorical Analysis Of President Joe Biden s Unity Through...
Unity Through Equality
In late June of 2016, Vice President Joe Biden had an official visit to his ancestral country, Ireland.
Biden planned his five day visit to meet with Prime Minister Enda Kenny to discuss Irish American
relations, and to address the Irish people about the value of global inclusiveness. Throughout his
speech, Biden uses different rhetorical strategies that aim to unify the Irish and American people.
Biden s arrival to Ireland occurs at a time when immigration is heavily debated, and right before the
world s largest pride parade in Dublin. Strategically, his words express the similarities between Ireland
and America, by connecting the two nations on one shared value of equality. Biden uses equality as
the foundation of a shared sense of resilience that is evidenced in Irish and American past, present, and
future.
Biden argues that both Ireland and America hold the same values at heart when comparing the
Declaration of Independence and the 1916 Proclamation. He states that the phrase We hold these
truths to be self evident that all men are created equal , and the 1916 Proclamation s, all of the children
of the nation equally , are notions founded in equal rights, equal opportunity, and religious and civil
liberties for everyone. Biden mentions that these terms are grounded, and are not empty words on a
page. He is trying to explain the depth of their meaning by noting that they are the foundation of any
political or social organization that aims to

  • 2. The Superhuman Registration Act Captain America, Iron Man, Spider Man, and The Fantastic Four. All of these superhumans are now, by law, required to register under the government, by order of The Superhuman Registration Act (SHRA); and therefore, are exposing their identities and falling under control of the government. However, the SHRA, written and executed as it was, is in grave need of revision and refinement. Improvement can be made by adding policies such as not forcing superhumans to reveal their identities to the public, an option to choose between registration or retirement, and the construction of a private housing community for those who are registered, as well as their loved ones. When registering for the SHRA, superhumans will not be compelled into revealing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Centennial Park Pond System 1. Introduction and objectives Centennial Park has the largest freshwater wetland system in inner metropolitan area of Sydney. Its ponds cover approximately 26 ha of area connected in a water flow system that acts as detention basin for stormwater drainage during flood events (Centennial Parklands, ponds, 2016). Moreover, these ponds provided the water as the Sydney s main source of drinking water from 1837. The park provides an open area for families and kids to enjoy picnics and therefore the pond is required to maintain its water quality and sustainable for the environment. The report reviews the Centennial Park pond system; it acts as a performance around the outskirts of the flood retention basin, and the report also reviews regarding full flood conservation and water quality norm to find a potential problem in the system and is coming up with improvements. 2. Background Flooding History: Historical records show that there were several flooding within the catchment November 1984, January1991. For instance, driver Avenue was road flooded (Michael Wyk , 2016). Water Pollution: From previous engineering reports, from early mid1990s, it was estimated that blue green algal blooms occurred in most of the ponds in the Centennial Park over several years (Mal Brown, 2012).Due to the accumulation of the nutrients in the Musgrave Pond from the storm water inflow, the nutrient enriched the water in the pond (Mal Brown, 2012). There is no doubt that this situation deteriorates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Michelle Obama Biography Michelle Obama was born as Michelle La Vaughn Robinson on January 17, 1964, in Chicago, Illinois. She was the 44th first lady of the United States and wife of US president Barack Obama. Michelle grew up in a small bungalow on Chicago s South Side. Her father, Fraser Robinson, was a city pump operator and a Democratic district captain. Her mother, Marian Robinson, was a secretary but later stayed home looking after Michelle and her older brother, Craig. They were a perfect and warm family since normally they prefer sharing meals, reading and playing games altogether. Craig and Michelle, almost 2 years apart in age, were often mistaken for twins since the siblings share some similar looks. Michelle as well as Craig were raised in accordance with education and had learned to read at home by the age of four. That s why, both of them skipped the second grade. • 5. The Persian Empire Essay THE PERSIAN EMPIRE Similar to the Roman Empire the Persian Empire stretched across vast lands without any serious rivalry. At the height of the empire it stretched across, not only, Asia, from the Aegean to the Indus River, but also included part of the continent of Africa. We get the word, Persia, from the Greek word Parsa meaning, Above reproach . The Persians unlike most other Empires would be ruled under a benevolent ruler. This would bring a large amount of cultural diffusion to the Empire. The empires history is separated into three historical periods: Old Persia (600 300 B.C.E), Middle Persia (300 800 B.C.E.) and modern Persia (800 Present). • 6. School To Prison Pipeline Essay The School to Prison Pipeline is a national trend wherein children are funneled out of public schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems ( School to Prison Pipeline ). This phenomenon brings children into the juvenile justice system at a very young age. An article published in the journal Urban Education explains that, The school to prison pipeline contributes to the atmosphere of increased surveillance of schools including police presence in schools, zero tolerance policies, physical restraint tactics, and automatic consequence policies, resulting in suspensions from school (Martin, Beese 2015). By increasing police presence in schools, children are more likely to be searched, questioned, or targeted by police than they would be without police present. And as a result, children are far more likely to be subject to school based arrests the majority of which are for nonviolent offenses, such as disruptive behavior than they were a generation ago ( School to Prison Pipeline ). For example, if a child was misbehaving in class in a school that had a police presence, they could possibly get arrested and sent to prison. But if a child was acting the same way in a school that did not have any police presence, they would not be arrested. Police would most likely be present in a school in an urban environment or poor neighborhood because more crime occurs in urban and poor places, so in theory, by placing police in schools, they would be preventing any crimes ... Their vision statement recognizes the means of setting a central goal that Starbucks aspire to reach, that ambition has altered the company s vision over the years. For example, Charles Shultz envisioned the company operating 2000 stores within the United States by the year 2000. Unfortunately, that objective was not possible due to the risk the company undertook. After rethinking the company s inherent worth, a simplified vision of, being the most recognized coffee bean house in the world became Starbucks mental picture; and today, Starbucks Corporation holds the title as such (Starbucks Corporation, 2010). • 9. Emotions In Albert Caltus s The Plague By Albert Camus When confronted with difficult circumstances, the emotions of people, their personal beliefs, and past experiences can affect their reactions or lack thereof. In every situation humans are put in, they find a way of surviving with it by first emotionally reacting and then possibly physically taking action. Throughout The Plague by Albert Camus, he makes it clear that people cope with challenging situations in different ways, and the ways can help decide how they take action; the methods can affect people, like Rambert trying to flee to a life he once had, Paneloux blaming everyone around him and Rieux trying, but failing to find a solution. Looking back at happier times and reminiscing on nostalgia can often help a person come to terms with the situations they are currently facing. Like many people in times of struggle, Rambert focuses on the life he had before going to Oran and the love for a women he left behind in order to escape his current circumstances both literally and figuratively. Rambert believes that he, was brought into the world to live with a woman (Camus 85) and that he doesn t belong in the town. Being separated from his wife is what is pushing Rambert to leave the town, even if that means possibly spreading the disease to the rest of the world. Rioux warns Rambert of this but Rambert is persistent on leaving no matter the consequences. Rambert realizes that he can t count on help from [Rioux]... but leave this town [he] shall (Camus 85). • 10. Installing A Wireless Sensor Network Essay INTRODUCTION A Wireless Sensor Network or WSN is supposed to be made up of a large number of sensors and at least one base station. The sensors are autonomous small devices with several constraints like the battery power, computation capacity, communication range and memory. They also are supplied with transceivers to gather information from its environment and pass it on up to a certain base station, where the measured parameters can be stored and available for the end user. In most cases, the sensors forming these networks are deployed randomly and left unattended to and are expected to perform their mission properly and efficiently. As a result of this random deployment, the WSN has usually varying degrees of node density along its area. Sensor networks are also energy constrained since the individual sensors, which the network is formed with, are extremely energy constrained as well. The communication devices on these sensors are small and have limited power and range. Both the probably difference of node density among some regions of the network and the energy constraint of the sensor nodes cause nodes slowly die making the network less dense. Also it is quite common to deploy WSNs in harsh environment, what makes many sensors inoperable or faulty. For that reason, these networks need to be fault tolerant so that the need for maintenance is minimized. Typically the network topology is continuously and dynamically changing, and it is actually not a desired solution to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After detaching from the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) on September 18,[7] the wave quickly developed into a tropical depression about 575 mi (925 km) west of the Cabo Verde Islands.[3] Moving northwestward, the depression intensified according to ships and satellite imagery,[7] becoming Tropical Storm Faye on September 19.[3] The cyclone then moved westward and was unable to intensify further due to increasing wind shear,[7] before weakening to a tropical depression on September 23.[3] Shortly thereafter, Faye turned to the north, crossing an upper trough axis over the central Atlantic. A crisis in global energy consumption has been increasingly discussed in many world energy forums which concern in the diminishing of fossil fuel and natural gas. Consequently, the US government has attempted to seek a new resource to serve the global energy demand (SHAFIEE, 2009). The natural gas from shale formation, abundant resources in US, has been discovered for a long time but there is no efficient method to extract the natural gas from this formation. Moreover, the route to convey the large amount of shale gas is one of our challenge that must be safe for human and environment, and it should be a low cost technique as well (ARMOR, 2013). Furthermore, the impact of shale gas revolution should be realized in a consequence of local protesters at the drilling sites or people who are directly affected from the extraction projects. Therefore, the aims of this project are to describe the most feasible technique and the future prospects in natural gas from shale formation. Background and Significance In a few decades, global natural gas demand has still sharply grown up every year. The world s crude oil and natural gas reserves are usually the main resources for energy consumptions in our world. Consequently, the total amount of these reserves has been significantly regarded by the leading industrial countries (WANG, 2014). Prior to the treatment of the ribosome, the P sites would function as the binding force holding the growing polypeptide chain of the amino acid to the peptidyl site. This is in correlation to the process of translation, in which the RNA is translated into a polypeptide chain with the aid of Ribosomal RNA and transfer RNA. To begin the process prior to treatment, first the initiation process starts through tRNA and methionine serving as catalyst to form a complete ribosome in an empty A site. The RNA s from the A site are linked to the P site which allows the appropriate amino acids to connect with RNA using the A site as an amino acid storage for the polypeptide chain. De Methylation is the removal of methyl groups from DNA all together, which would lead to active corresponding cancer genes thus enhancing the threat. So far it is clear to scientists that Methylation of DNA directly influences gene expression, cancer being abnormal in expression patterns. In repressing or stimulating methylation in the cell, research indicates that transcription of cancer cells can be repressed which could lead to cancer gene arrest. This drug would be a good candidate for an anti cancer drug because if we re able to correct the DNA methylation in cancer cells, they would be able to behave normally. Methylation inhibitors could assist in reactivating epigenetically silenced genes in cancer and reverse aberrant DNA methylation restoring regular gene functions and tumor cell growth arrest. The group of genes that would cause the most problems for an organism if mutated would be the Homeobox Genes. The Homeobox Genes are a class of regulatory genes that are used to help regulate the gene expression, and assist with body structure formation during early embryonic development. Is it even possible to reach perfection, or is it something out of the hands of a human being? It is true that perfection is something everybody strives for, to help them succeed in the things they propose for their lives. Many people aspire to be perfect in different ways, it could be a mother, a student, a teacher or even an artist with that desire of reaching perfection, but do we know the real meaning of this word? According to the dictionary one of its meanings is a quality, trait, or feature of the highest degree of excellence. (Dictionary, 2013) Excellence and perfection are far from being the same; which is why many people say it is impossible to be perfect but possible to reach Excellency, because perfection is supposed to exist as an abstraction of our minds, but not to be attainable in the physical world. It is a much divided opinion, which will perhaps never come to one only general conclusion. This term is not only used by the Blackfeet to refer to themselves but to all First Peoples of the Americas (Ni tsi ta pi ksi, The Blackfoot Gallery Committee, 2001, 3). The Blackfoot Nation is a confederacy of three Nations, the Kainai, the Pikani and Siksika (The Blackfoot Gallery Committee, 2001, 2/3). These three Nations however are more commonly referred to in mainstream literature as the Blood, Peigan, and the Northern Blackfoot or the Blackfeet of Montana and are not the terms chosen by the Blackfeet Nations to refer to them selves (The Blackfoot Gallery Committee, 2001, 2). This terminology, it would appear results from mistranslations of Blackfoot words, or names given to the Blackfeet from neighboring First Nations (source). For example the term Peigan is believed to have originated from an English mispronunciation of Pikani. How the Kainai ( which translates into Many Leaders ) became known as the Blood Nation has many explanations, one is that it describes the term Aapaitsitapi by the Cree due to the ceremonial paint which was used on the face and hands which looked like blood. A second explanation is that the term in fact referred the weasel pelts the Kanai wore and it was mistranslated to mean the blood peoples (Bastien 2004, 10). Siksika is a literal translation of ... • 26. Air In Respiratory System Analysis Breathing is an automatic process that takes place in the respiratory system. Air enters and exits the respiratory structures through the process inhalation and exhalation. Air moves in and out of the lungs as a result of changes in pressure. Inhalation is achieved when the pressure inside the lungs is less than the pressure outside of the lungs. The diaphragm contracts pulling air into the lungs. When the pressure inside the lungs is less than the pressure outside the lungs, exhalation occurs allowing the diaphragm to relax expelling carbon dioxide waste from the lungs (Acrobatiq, 2014). Air can be inhaled through the nose or the mouth. When air enters via the nose during inhalation, it travels through the nasal cavity. Once in the nasal cavity, the air is warmed and filtered by the nose hairs. The air proceeds through the nasal cavity into the pharynx which includes the nasopharynx, oropharynx and the laryngopharynx. The nasopharynx is the upper part of the pharynx above the soft palate. The table tennis ball followed the tennis ball, but the ball which achieved the least height was the baseball. • 32. An Effective Compensation Structure Of Employees Essay Overview Organizations spend a great deal of time and resources in developing an effective compensation structure one that is lawful, aligns with the strategy and objectives of the business itself, is externally competitive and can recruit and retain talented employees. However, not all positions will fall into this meticulously composed pay structure. There are groups of employees who will fall outside of the scale used for everyone else, with compensation packages seemingly at odds with what everyone else receives (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2016, p. 502). Executives are one such group of employees specifically senior level executives, or CEOs. The computation of compensation CEOs receive does not follow the same process as that of other positions. As such, the compensation practices for senior level executives have come under fire (Milkovich, et al., p. 504). There are many opponents to current executive compensation levels in our economy, many of whom cite the multimillion dollar total compensation received by some Fortune 500 executives compared to average worker pay levels (AFL CIO, 2014). However, there are also proponents of executive compensation who believe that the inherent risk involved in these positions, in addition to market variables and job duties and responsibilities warrant the, sometimes confounding, compensation figures (Kaplan, 2008). This paper sets out to examine these arguments to determine if CEOs are over compensated in our economy. Research ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Hockey Stick History Many of you are perhaps aware of the World s Oldest Known Hockey Stick that was in the news a couple of years ago. Its most recent former owner, Mark Presley of Berwick, NS, sold it to the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec in January of 2015 for $300,000. Presley happened upon the stick during the year 2000 as it hung on the wall of a North Sydney barber shop. The building s proprietor at the time, George Ferneyhiugh, who has since retired from the haircutting trade, had it hanging there since the early 1980s. The relic s original owner was William Moffatt of North Sydney s Pottle Lake area and it is referred to as the Moffatt Stick. Carved into the stick s blade are the initials, WM. In 2008 Presley purchased the stick from Ferneyhiugh for a sum of $1,000 and then proceeded to find out the relic s long history. He took the stick to Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB where experts in dendrochronology the science of dating events through the study of growth rings in trees performed tests. They determined that the stick s wood came from a tree that was chopped down somewhere between 1835 and 1838 making it the oldest known hockey stick. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 35. Ifrs Adoption Affects Taxes, The Mergence Or Adoption Of... IFRS Adoption Affects Taxes The mergence or adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the United States will affect the taxes a company will pay due to the differences in IFRS and U. S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). One major hurdle to this happening is to get the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) to agree on exactly how this will happen. For most U.S. companies, a major concern is how this adoption of IFRS will ultimately affect the way they do business, how it changes reporting, and how it will affect the company financially. A real concern is changing from a rules based standard (GAAP) into a principles based standard (IFRS) used throughout the rest of the world. From a tax perspective, the focus of this research is to show how some of the required changes in Last In First Out (LIFO), inventory evaluation (LCM), and revenue recognition be changed using IFRS. Last in first out The use of LIFO as an inventory management system is recognized as one of three management systems and has been accepted by GAAP. However, IFRS does not recognized LIFO as an acceptable management system. Many advocates of LIFO argue that it provides an accurate revenue match with expenses since sales reveal the most recent selling prices, then the cost of goods sold should also reflect the most recent inventory purchasing costs. However, the ending inventory balances shown on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Rhetorical Analysis Of President Joe Biden s Unity Through... Unity Through Equality In late June of 2016, Vice President Joe Biden had an official visit to his ancestral country, Ireland. Biden planned his five day visit to meet with Prime Minister Enda Kenny to discuss Irish American relations, and to address the Irish people about the value of global inclusiveness. Throughout his speech, Biden uses different rhetorical strategies that aim to unify the Irish and American people. Biden s arrival to Ireland occurs at a time when immigration is heavily debated, and right before the world s largest pride parade in Dublin. Strategically, his words express the similarities between Ireland and America, by connecting the two nations on one shared value of equality. Biden uses equality as the foundation of a shared sense of resilience that is evidenced in Irish and American past, present, and future. Biden argues that both Ireland and America hold the same values at heart when comparing the Declaration of Independence and the 1916 Proclamation. He states that the phrase We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal , and the 1916 Proclamation s, all of the children of the nation equally , are notions founded in equal rights, equal opportunity, and religious and civil liberties for everyone. Biden mentions that these terms are grounded, and are not empty words on a page. He is trying to explain the depth of their meaning by noting that they are the foundation of any political or social organization that aims to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
