The lecture introduced visual theories including sensory and perceptual theories. Sensory theories examine how the brain responds to light and visual cues, while perceptual theories consider how the mind makes meaning from visual cues. Gestalt principles of visual organization were discussed, including similarity, proximity, continuation/closure, and common fate. These principles describe how the brain groups visual elements based on their relationships. The lecture provided an introduction to photography concepts and visual communication theories.

16. Sensory Theories: Gestalt Continuation and Closure The brain seeks to provide smooth continuation or closure of a perceived movement. The brain will see objects on a line as connected, and anything not on that line as disconnected.
