   teaching young learners
Factors that influence learning of
             young learners
• Intelligence
   – Spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal,
     intrapersonal
• Aptitude
   – The ability to learn quickly and is thought to predict
     success in learning
      •   Identify and memorize new words
      •   Understand the function of particular words in sentences
      •   Figure out grammatical rules from language samples
      •   Memorize new words
• Learning styles
    – Individual’s natural, habitual and preferred way of
      absorbing, processing, and retaining new
      information and skills.
• Personality
    – Extroversion vs introversion, inhibition vs risk-
      taking, anxiety, self-esteem, empathy
•   Motivation and attitudes
•   Identity and ethnic group affiliation
•   Learner beliefs
•   Age of acquisition
