Websites
The Cheshire Magazine Title - located as a logo in the top left hand corner, small yet
stands out due to the colours (white against back)
Tags - along the top of the page where you can easily navigate
to that part of the magazine, stands out again, black and white
and use of capital letters, information split into categories -
cognitive needs
Search bar - separated from all text easy for audience to find,
and navigate to any part of the website which links with the
word they’ve searched
Main image - large proportion of the page, links with the
caption which is about holidays, main image is a women sitting
on a beach no views obstructed which gives the website a
placid look. Thi screen would change, bit like a slide show and
would show different images.
Ad - ad bannered across the bottom of the page, colourful and
eye catching
Apart from the images the main colours used are black and
white, to give a monochrome feel, the images add frequent
colour which makes the website home page more appealing
Surrey Title - logo of the magazine is presented as the title, white font against
black/dark background makes title stand out, large lettering, eye catching
Tags - along the top of the page, easy to see not cramped in with lots of text,
information split into simple categories - cognitive needs
Telephone number - this is located twice on the page, it appears at the top
and down the left hand side in the column - informative (cognitive needs)
Address - faintly written, left hand column with a complementary colour to the
background, therefore difficult to see
Images - 6 small square cropped images, in a row along top of page, all
different types, interesting and intriguing, brightens up the dark page, one
larger image which presents the front cover of the magazine, almost
advertising itself.
Social media tag - facebook logo, top right hand corner, the social media
aspect appeals to younger audiences therefore widening their customer base
Text - ones large chunk of text located in the middle of the page, explaining
who they are and what they’re about, split into paragraphs, right aligned
Colour - dark blue main background with black used as a background for all
the media formats, white writing to stand out against these dark colours
Kent Life Title - black serif font, stands out against white background, largest
font on page therefore stands out more
Search bar - top right hand corner, easy to navigate to for the
audience
Social Media tags - logos facebook, twitter, gmail, pinterest, these
open up other audiences for kent life, as social media appeals more
to younger audiences
Tags - appear at the top of the page, the tags are split into categories

Images - images on the page linked to articles, wide range -
cognitive needs
Text - small chunks of text, gives insight of what will be in the articles
Ads - ads placed down the right hand side of the page
Log in - you can make an account, therefore makes the site more
personal to the audiences as you can virtually connect with the
magazine

Title - centred, white serif font, surrounded by a lot of space to make the
title eye catching and stand out
Tags - two lots of tags,a row below and above the title. The row above is
more informative as to the business side of the magazine but the row below
is more about what's in the magazine, the separation of the two helps
people to distinguish, information split into categories - cognitive needs
Search bar - away from everything so does not get mixed up therefore easy
for the audience to navigate too
Images - medium sized images, covering the page, with captions on, the
pictures and captions work together to intrigue the audience into clicking on
that hyperlink to take them to the article
Colours - a mixture of dainty blues, grey and white, some of the writing is
written in yellow which lightens up the page, the rest is written in either
white or black, white is the main background colour
Conventions Overview
● Majority of the websites all have tags along the top and also a search bar.
The all conform to the conventions of interesting images on their homepages
as this intrigues the audience to read on more into the website.
● Most of the websites have social media tags however a few did not conform
to these conventions. I will be including a social media tag on my website as
this appeals more to a wider audience and may expand my target audience.
● Many of the websites enlarge their logo to form the title however for some of
the simpler websites the title is smaller but because it is the logo it's more
recognisable therefore has the same effect as a large title.
● Have a variety of images on each page
