2. Example
Websites
In each of these websites we see a
multitude of codes and conventions
that span across all 4, these include:
- Title in the top left of the screen.
- layout of subheadings across the
top middle of the site.
- All include a 'news', 'reviews' and
'originals' page.
- All have an image accompanying a
title and description underneath that
relate to an article.
- They each have their own house
style that suits the colour scheme
and theme of the magazines that
each produce.

3. Example menu's and
titles
These are the menu's and titles that I have
decided to use as references for my homepage
and website.
The common codes and conventions across them
are:
- The menus all follow a simple centre, top of the
page formatting with the title usually being
above or beside the menu.
- The menus all have simple headings that link to
other parts of the website such as the
'Reviews' tab that is common across 3 of the 4
sites.
- The title is in the same theme and colour
scheme as the rest of the website and it also
follows the hosue style that is established as its
brand by keeping consistent with the
typography.

4. Example 'Home' pages
These homepages are examples from the
most successful gaming websites that I will be
using as references. The codes and
conventions they follow include:
- A high image/text ratio. This ratio is
common across all the gaming websites and
entertainment websites in general as they are
easily able to captivate the attention of the
audience and provide a format for a hyperlink
to elsewhere on the website.
- There is a news feed/stream of data going
down the right side of the screen on the
homepage.
- There is a main image framed toward the
top of the homepage that is bigger than the
rest.
- The theme is consistent throughout the
homepage with a consistent typography and
colour scheme.

5. Example 'Reviews' pages
A 'Reviews' page is one of the most used menu
pages across all gaming websites, so I have
opted to use one for my website. The codes and
conventions of these pages include:
- The reviews pages have opted for a list format
of all the games that they have reviewed, this
allows for easy navigation and understandability
of what they are looking at with the audience
- Each website has a unique and original
approach to how they have decided to review
the games or game related media, with some
websites opting for a 'rating' style approach and
others going for an article style approach. With
my website I will be going for a combination of
the two, with a rating next to the title of the
reviewed piece followed by an article.
- There is also an accompanying image with
every single one of the reviewed topics.

6. Example 'News' pages
A 'News' page is another of the most used
menu pages across all gaming websites,
which I have also opted to use on my
website. The codes and conventions of these
pages include:
- Similar to the formatting of the 'News feed'
down the right-hand side of the
homepage, the information is aligned in a list
format as is common with news pages across
all entertainment websites
- The difference between the news feed and
the actual page is the depth that each topic
can go into and the accompanying image.
Another would also of course be the
quantity.
- The theme of the page is consistent with
the rest of the website in terms of
typography, colour scheme and topic cover.
