INTRODUCTION
Long gone are the days when students
learnt from just a textbook. In today’s education
system, students have the ability to learn from
real experts all across the globe via many means,
including video conferencing. This evolving
technology in the classroom teaching method
has enhanced learning in classrooms from
kindergarten to the college level.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Meaning
o “Video conferencing in its most basic form is the transmission of the
image(video) and speech (audio), back and forth between two or more
physically separated locations.”
o Video conferencing can be described as a method of conferencing
between 2 or more locations where both sound and vision are conveyed
electronically so as to enable simultaneous interactive communication.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Components of video conferencing
1. Camera- to capture and
send video during video
conferencing.
2. Microphones –to
capture and send audio
during video conferencing
3. Speakers-to play the
audio received during video
conferencing
4. TV or Monitor- to
display the video received
during video conferencing.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Types of video conferencing
TYPE-1
■ Point-to-point- which is limitedto 2
locations.
■ Eachsite sees and hears the other
sites at all times.
TYPE-2
■ Multi-point-which can take up more than
2 locations
■ Participants at all sitescan hear one
another at all times and see the site that is
currentlyspeaking
Multi-point Video Conferencing

 Enhances curriculum in an effective direction to
achieve educational objectives.
 Enables distance learning which is very necessary
for the students who are unable to be in-person
students.
Continued…..TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Fosters global collaboration (with worldwide-schools
and classrooms)
Continued…..TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
 Social benefits i.e., the importance of socialization is
made known to students by giving opportunities for
live interaction.
 Improves retention level in students and appeal to a
variety of learning styles.
Continued…..TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
 Reduction in time, money &
labour involved in providing
other communication material
and arranging extension
programs.
Continued…..TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
 It closely resembles
traditional classroom-
based education.
 Guest lecturers can be
easily integrated into
course.
 More faculty & staff can
be involved in teaching-
learning process.
Continued…..TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Educational groups can meet more frequently.
Catches the student attention for a longer time in
class.
Accommodates many learning styles through
videos, animations , etc.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Limitations Disadvantages-
■ Eliminates the aspects of personal interaction.
■ Costs more to acquire and set up a video conferencing system.
■ The need for extra training to use video conference systems.
Continued…..TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
■ Bound to experience technical problems
■ Limits the number of users engaging at the same time.
■ If visuals like handwritten or copied materials are not
prepared properly, students may have difficulty in reading
them.
■ Delay in response can be observed.
TCP PRESENTO 2020, THIAGARAJAR COLLEGE OF PRECEPTORS, MADURAI.
Conclusion
Lastly I would like to conclude my presentation
by saying that, this era is known to be a digital era as
there has been a technological progress in our society.
So to be an active member of the society and to be a
modern day teacher it is a necessary that we as
student teachers gain knowledge and technological
skills and make ourselves update with the digitality of
the world. Then only we can impart technological
knowledge in our future students who will be called as
the digital natives of our country.
Thank you
