13. The Transition to IPv6 and the Necessity for IP Address Management - Frey...Digicomp Academy AG
IP Address Management (IPAM) is necessary for transitioning to IPv6. Before an organization begins planning for IPv6, it is important to know the current IPv4 inventory. During this session we will discuss and demonstrate how an effective IPAM tool can document and discover an organization's IP and name space, plan and model IPv6 address space and reduce the complexity with documenting dual stacked hosts.
Cloud computing, a concept that has leapt onto the scene in the last few years, is available to libraries in the form of hosted systems for an ILS or for e-resource access. These systems take advantage of cheaper computing power, increased availability of services such as Amazon Web services, and new development strategies from library vendors. What does moving library information to a networked environment do to improve the overall management of the system? How can libraries leverage cloud-hosted and managed collections? Are there tradeoffs in terms of local control? Learn the answers to these and related issues at this webinar where speakers will discuss actual cloud implementations in library environments.

MCN2013 - Big-Picture Strategy for Collection-Information Technology Projects at the Cleveland Museum of Art
Speakers: Jane Alexander, Jeanne DeBonis, Andrea Bour
and Niki Krause
How do you get and use data about your collections out there for the public to enjoy? How do you reach the researcher? How do you make sure the information offered up for each artwork is correct and current, wherever and whenever it's used? How do you make sure one change in the data is reflected everywhere? It takes a "big picture" strategy to get it right! The Cleveland Museum of Art shares its holistic approach to artwork-related information--from metadata standards and systems development, to integration and user interface--and illustrates its effectiveness with eight short case studies from recent and current technology projects. The team will also highlight the back-end data flows that enable these projects, and share hair-raising, real-life tales of data run amok when projects temporarily lose sight of the "big picture."

One Drupal to rule them all - Drupalcamp Londonhernanibf
Dries famous sentence (http://buytaert.net/one-drupal-to-rule-them-all) is becoming a reality for many organisations from small shops to the enterprise space. More and more stakeholders are following the idea of standardising their online presence in Drupal and leverage the same code and infrastructure amongst their different sites. What they are seeking is a drastic reduction in the time needed to create, launch and configure a Drupal site at the same time that they reduce the maintenance effort of the whole sites' network.
To achieve it, a drastic change needs to happen on the standardisation of development processes, more strict control of the overall architecture while supporting new changes and requirements, and repeatable and trustable deployment process to avoid the opposite pitfall of "one site to break them all".
In this session we will look to what needs to be thought when creating such an architecture from the development process to the infrastructure to host the different environments needed. We will look at different solutions that allow maintain these sites factories and walk you through several architectures explaining their advantages and differences.
Finally, we will look in detail to Acquia's Cloud Site Factory, a fully-hosted SaaS solution that allows organisations to quickly deploy and manage websites by the hundreds. Pre-define site templates, create new sites in a single click, manage roles and permissions across sites and connect to existing analytics and data systems.
OSDC 2013 | The OpenNebula Cloud Platform for Datacenter Virtualization by Co...NETWAYS
The presentation will describe the OpenNebula project for data center virtualization, with a focus on how to deploy OpenNebula-based private clouds and its unique features to tune and adapt it to any technology in the cloud and virtualization ecosystem.
The target audience are developers and IT administrators interested in deploying a private cloud solution, or in the integration of OpenNebula with other projects. The talk will be useful for both people with experience or without prior knowledge of OpenNebula, as it will start by introducing the project and its main features, along with a quick demonstration. Although this is not a hands-on tutorial, by the end of the presentation attendees will have a comprehensive idea of the integration and customization capabilities of OpenNebula in different areas, like user authentication, virtualization, storage, networking, etc.
Continuous Integration (CI) is frequently implemented as a dev process and not tied to the rest of the software development life cycle. Resulting in shadow IT, silo’d processes and information, and ultimately a lack of real time visibility across all stakeholders. And even greater implications such as risk of IP loss due to lack of corporate governance controls (e.g., RBAC, security and traceability). Watch this webinar to learn how to scale CI as-as-service using Jenkins across an enterprise. As teams self-select their CI tools, using TeamForge would allow individuals across your enterprise to rapidly access CI tools of their choosing, while central IT maintains full visibility and control with minimal effort. In this webinar, we also present a case study for establishing an organization-wide build ecosystem at a global financial services company.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms.
